I've set on a Shure SM57 to mic my cab, but I
need a soundcard as well.
I was thinking about the M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496

Thanks.

Firecrackle Deans - Any Good?

Just wondering if these were playable, looks like a good shredder. I'm not bidding but so far a good deal.
Some advice please on painting a guitar up??
Hi all, i have a les paul sunburst or soething like that i thnk it looks very good....if you are into playing wet wet wet at weddings. Anyway i have had the idea of stripping the paint of and redoing it again to somewhat the effect of Dimebags DFH. I know it's a long shot since i don't know where to start and i mean the VERY start like gettingthe paint of without removing chunks of wood etc...
Anyway i am serious about this i really want to do this, but i am sort on cash i was wondering if there is a budget method? I have read up on this and it sounds quite difficult and costly but as i said i would love to get this guitar looking feisty!
The guitar is an epiphone which i took from a friend who was well over due paying me back some cash, i could sell and use the money to go towards my next dean but i want to try this painting thing if possible.
Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to help me out.
Cheers!
So i just picked up one of these to take with me and the FBD when we go to japan for 6 months. I must say, this thing sounds really damn good for how small and inexpensive it is. The fact that it runs on batteries is also a big plus. I dont know how long they last, but my friend had one when we were in Iraq and his batteries lasted a LONG time even though he managed to find about 2 to 3 hours a day to play. I highly reccomend it if someone is looking for a little portable practice amp. It would be hard to make it better for the cost.
is there such thing as a cheap paintjob?
well i m doing my research on the dean MLX and im thinking of painting it. not the whole thing but put some nice silver stripes going diagonally down (think of it like synyster gates stripes on an ML). WIll this be expensive and time consuming?

If anyone could possibly help me out it would be greatly appreciated.
I'm looking for anything that looks cool with the words in green and a black background.
Ok so im trying to get a new amp by christmas, I have a Cube 15 right now. My budget is no more than $500, and so far ive been torn between these 2
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Randall-RX120DHS-120W-Half-Stack-Guitar-Amp-with-4x12-Cabinet?sku=481269
or a small tube combo
ala Peavey
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Peavey-ValveKing-112-Combo-Amp?sku=481442
Im not sure on what I should get. I play in my bedroom, I dont gig as of now. Or worst come to worst I could get a crate powerblock and run my Zoom G2 thru it into a Marshall 4x12 cab, and get a nice peavey tube head sometime next year. Im trying to do some research early, and none of my local shops have these, so what are some opinions on them?

Buckethead!!!!, in Fairfax Virginia, at The State Theatre!!!, Holy Shnikes I have never seen a better show or guitarist, he is not only fast but can play with feeling as well. I think I have a new guitar hero to add to my others. Man what a GREAT show. I am in just total awe of his skills with guitar and his display of his nun-chuck skills, along with doing the robot for a little bit. .
Hey all,
Just wondered if u could get some advice about re-tubing my 5150 head.
Firstly which ones do i need? i'm looking for the 'In Flames' and 'Chiamara' sound.
and secondly, can i fit them myself?
And info would be great!!
Thanx!!
is it just me or are the uglyer than all hell???
is it the large size like the 79's? or smaller?? I dare not ask if its BIGGER! Just a curious question, I may be getting one !!

and does anyone know anyone cool sites with more of these? I'm just looking for a little guitar bling. Might be getting an MLX and want to spice it up,
I'm thinkin of gettng a 1/2 stack. Can anyone suggest some good amp heads? I would like something with great metal distortion.
There isn't a Randall dealer in Colorado, according to Randall's website, so any help would be appreciated.

Import "custom" shop?
by dmsdj5 on Tue Oct 03, 2006 12:43 am
This was mentioned(kind of) in Eddie's ever flustering thread in the Dealers section about a new Razorback.Someone guessed that it may be a "custom" type of Razorback. What a great idea! Why has no company ever offered something like this.
This is my idea(for Razorbacks)
Pay $1500 or so and have options for what you want. Not all access "I want a redwood body with a fretboard made of my tree in my back yard like John Petrucci".Have the option of 10 or so different kinds of pickups,Official floyd or string-thru,several basic color options(solid white, solid black, etc.),hardware color options, inlay options, etc.(you get the picture).
Would something like this ever be possible? This is just my rant, like it or hate it.Any thoughts?
RAZR13 needs to be signed to Dean..
so it starts out like this..
a life-long friend calls and says that his son is gonna play with a band at the Engine Room (Houston, Texas), and he's gonna play Pantera's "Walk" with Razr13.. seeing that Little Eddie is 12 years old, it's pretty cool that they would let him on stage.. much less that he knows how to actually play Walk.. so, to me, since he's going to play a Pantera song, it would be fitting that he would play it on an ML.. so i offer up the use of my 2004 DOA ML.. of course, he wants to use it.. i pack everything up, and we get down there..
this is the first time i'd met the band, and really heard them.. i brought my dSLR to take some pics of all of the fun.. after meeting Big Mike and talking to him, he's got to be one of the coolest people.. he really is an amazing guitarist.. the whole band is great.. without doubt..
i took some pics of the show.. but, one of the highlights of the night was meeting Marzi and Terry Nelson (Willie's son).. Hank III was supposed to show, but didn't.. or atleast i didn't see him..
Terry had some people over to his house, and they crank called Phil Anselmo and Zakk Wylde.. no, i didn't get to ask him where my f*cking 357Customs Epi ZWLP is.. next time i will, though..
Big Mike's rig is Marzi's (ex-Superjoint Ritual) old rig.. four top 4x12's, a Line6 DL-4 delay modeler, a white Boss pedal, a couple of other pedals i couldn't remember what they were, and a CFH Dime Wah.. his rack is a Marshall EL34-100/100 and a couple of Crate processors.. it sound pretty damn good..
give a listen at thier myspace page..
http://www.myspace.com/razr13
here's some pics from the show..
Myself (left) and Eddie Sr, backstage..
i couldn't include the shots i have from the two women that were flashing everyone..
Eddie had a blast.. and Razr13 ripped..
if you have a chance to see Razr13 do it.. and Big Mike needs a Razorback V, please..
BUCKET o porn..HEAD shots!! Buckethead Concert Review n vids
by RC99 on Tue Oct 03, 2006 3:11 am
I went to see Buckethead last Monday – Sept 25 at the TLA in Philly.
Bucket was WAY cool.
“That 1 Guy” opened (an HOUR late)
And then played most of the night w Bucket – on his …
Synthesized Pipe gizmo – sounds like a mutron synth bass on steroids.
Joe Zawinul must be crappin his pants!
His new CD was on sale…”Songs in the Key of Biotch” … for real! LOL
He's pretty cool – reminds me of performance art peepl from 70’s. he plays that thing with bass violin bows, and did some synthesized wood saw stuff that was funny.
Bucket was just the right amount of shred and melodic stuff. With That 1 Guy on pretty basic synth bass funk kinda stuff – he was free to play all over the place. I like the melancholy melodic things he builds on … he REALLY knows how to build a melodic solo from simple melody to full on shred riffs – and knows not to over do the climax stuff. I don’t like gettin my brains hammered for 3 hours (anymore) so I was pretty impressed!
Bucket also plays some VERY melancholy and .. actually sweet stuff in between all the psych stuff..And did not fail to notice there was a considerable female audience – unlike most shred or “guitar god” concerts where it’s just every guitar player in a 1.5 hour travel zone.
Hint .. Scott Henderson, Alan Holdsworth, etc..
There was this one MASSIVELY obese mid 40’s VERY conservative corp secretary looking woman near me drinkin cocktails … was wonderin .. WTF up w her? Either she’s got cool out there taste in music and needs to drop 200 lbs and get a happening boyfriend … or she saw the sign and thought it was a free bucket of KFC chicken PER head?
I like his techno funk stuff … he was KILLIN w that on off switch … totallu badassed!
would also like to hear him jam w a good fusion keyboardist like Jan Hammer.
Ian – I’m wonderin who plays the keyvoards on that CD you burned me… and also – some stuff on that CD sounded like keys but I think it was Bucket through a guitar synth ... really nice stuff. He's got a great sense of dynamics and taste for a guy that presents himself as such a freak show.
All in all a great show… he’s a Halloween act for sure – wonder if he’ll keep that up till he’s 60? Buckethead - the duet ballad album ... with Tony Bennett and Axl Rose. ??
------------
photos :
“That One Guy”
playin his pipe thing w a bass violin bow:
I think this is Bucket's "life partner" ... gives good head!
the man himself … hmmmmmmmmm … he IS a guy, right?
Buckethead and That One Guy layin it DOWN!
bangin out some psycho SCHKRONK!
clearest pic I got – see that button thing on his Paul? He uses that on off button to make it sound like a fuzzed up clavinet thru a Mutron .. like Stevie used to.
i can run my bros Combo with my Combo... so i now have a "Quarter Stack"
its real neat cus i can turn the effects on for the second amp and run the first dry or with different effects (which go to the second)
makes for some interesting messin round. and also going from 1x12" to a 2X12" just cus your bro doesnt need his amp is a pretty good hold over till i can get a real Halfstack...
New Song from my band, (all Deans)
Hope you like it. It is from the same session we recorded our song for the Dean Comp. Johnny and I both play Deans. I have the DOA Z, Johnny has a Czech V and a 79V.
I know it is probably too rock n roll for some, too punk for others, and maybe even too metal for some and not metal enough for others. We seem to be a band that walks the line between a lot of genres.
Let me know if you like it. The song is called Teenage Girls & Free Cocaine, (All Night Long)

This amp so far is amazing, I LOVE the sound and with the "Valve Dynamic" Tube in the pre-amp stage it gives it those tube warm cleans with all the bite of a solid state.
I'm going to be playing for a very long time tonight.. feel free to ask questions, but they may only get answered tomorrow .
is just a few days away here in the Sunshine State. Who all is going ? I'll be at the Tampa and Orlando shows.
Who's with me ?
And who's gonna enter the Arch Enemy contest ?
between the buried and me cover...
What do you guys think of the cemetary gates cover? I think they did an awesome job. While I think the vocals at times didnt have the right attitude, everything else in the song was friggin great. That is a hell of a song to try and cover especially now that Dime is gone but I think they pulled it of. They didnt shy away from any of the leads and whats even better is that they put their own spin on em, sweeps and all, and didnt try to sound exactly like Dime did. That is nowhere more evident, in my opinion, than when you listen to the guitar tone. Not even close to how Dime sounded and thats how a cover should be done in my opinion.
I'm interested to hear what you guys think.
I've been out of the loop for a couple months...
Just as the title says... I've been busy for the last couple months and haven't had time to keep up with the forum.
Can anyone summarize the important stuff that I missed?
Everyone still love bacon?

by jkage on Wed Oct 04, 2006 4:16 pm
I called my local Dean Dealer today, I asked about the wait time on the Dixie Rebel,
the guy on the phone told me 2 weeks to with in the month of October. He said they were done and waiting to be shipped.
I think the guy is feeding me a bunch of bull crap, but hoping that I'am wrong. Anyone heard any thing?

I was going through some CD's in my studio and came across some rough mixes of some songs I wrote and recorded for the first bombthreat album, back when bombthreat was more Godsmack and less Pantera.
The track called Rescue Me has no vocals, and it is a rough mix.
Id love to hear what you guys think.

For my music class I have to perform 4 pieces of music on guitar at the end of the year, and I have to play for my teacher next Wednesday, and I'm really stuck for something to play.
I was going to do Fade To Black but I just can't handle the lead guitar, and I'm really doubting my abilities on guitar right now.
So what I'm asking is does anyone have any suggestions as to what to play that are either Metal or Blues?
I'm not really great at lead and stuff like that but not terrible either, so I don't really know what I'm able for.
Any help would be really appreciated

I wonder, if anyone here has ever experienced left hand cramping from switching neck profiles.
I've been playing my 79 pretty much non stop for the past 2 months at practice, and yesterday I switched to my standard cuz I haven't played it in a while, and it (as some of you know) has a flatter neck profile than the beefy 79 profile.
By the end of our 25 minute set I could barely hold the damn strings down. I waited a bit, then switched over to the 79 and was find the rest of practice.
Anyone else have this?
I saw this guitar in an add from a guy who lives not far from me, he asks $630, it says it's a Dean from 1981.., is this worth it?
Possibly The Ugliest Dean?

who should dean snatch? no matter how big, what company their already with, how obscure. i'd like to see who you guys think would make a good addition to the Dean Family(and don't say yourself for crying out loud)
i would like to see DETHKLOK get singed
Toki would play an awesome Dean Z
Murderface could play a Piss Yellow razorback bass.
and Skwisgaar Skwigelf could play a V.
i know what you're thinking, what good would that do to move guitar. answer, many many people watch adult swim, young adults. teenagers with all that money, and nothing to waste it on.
Just ordered new pickups!

Just bought a Dimarzio Evolution set for my DOA V in black/creme zebra. I love the X2N to death but I wanna try something different. The evos seem more solo orientated which is what my DOA V excels at. I'll move the X2N into the black and gold riffin machine. I'll post pics and let you guys know how it sounds!
there comes a time in a dean players life...
where he has to change pickups...
atm, i have a stock M(i)LF 79, its great, but i want a pcikup with more cojones
ive been thinking DiMarzio X2N or Bill Lawrence L-500XL, but my local shop has neither pickup installed on any guitars, so i cant really let my ears decide
and i want to play jazz
pfft, course, my playing style is metal, so what do you brothaz think? price isnt so much of an issue tbh
Evo Special Select - real top or a print?
Any idea of if this a "real" wood top or some sort of print/laminate?

My band's playing with All That Remains
Next weekend we'll be playing with All That Remains! Maybe someone important will see us and dig us and I can get signed and get some free guitars and amps, that would be beautiful.
Just popped my Dean cherry!
What's up ya'll. Been cruising these boards for a little while, decided to get a Dean Razorback Two-Tone and join the board. Had a Jackson Dinky before the Dean but I'm gonna keep both. The Dean is completely badass and blows any previous guitar I had out of the water (playablility, tone, you name it). Proud to join the Dean Army!
Posted some pics even though everyone knows what a Two-Tone Razorback looks like.
Any Sandy Bull fans?
He's an 60's era guitarist. I just finished listening to his 'Inventions' album where plays acoustic, electric, banjo and oud.
He offers nothing wild technically, buy he's got a great feel for playing. He plays a couple of Bach 'Gavottes' that are beautiful.

im planning to buy a crate glx 212 to go along with my razorback, im not sure how it will sound though, and since i cant find any crate amps where i live i was wondering if any of u out there have that set up, if u do tell me what u think of it and if is a bad or good idea for me to buy that amp.
thanx

Who's got the Decimator cheapest? Best service? I thought about rocksolidamps but then I'll probably have to pay shipping.
Question about distortion
I have a solid state amp (line 6 spider 112) and I'm looking for a distortion pedal to be used for leads and sustain. Also something that could help out on some artificial harmonics and squeals. Got any suggestions? Thanx.
I made something really cool.
by Blazer on Fri Oct 06, 2006 1:38 am
A couple of days ago, we were working on taking a six string bass apart at our workshop of Knooren handcrafted instruments because it suffered a fatal trussrod break, since the bass had a glued in neck we had no other option but to chop it out with a chisel. I then was told to saw the headstock off so that the ornate fingerboard could be salvaged. So after I went Henry the VIII'th on that neck inspiration stuck and I told my boss: "Say wouldn't it be cool to place that headstock on a sockel like a trophy?"
And so I did exactly that, it looked really cool but then I had a better idea. I took a flat piece of maple, shaped it into a Ricky headstock, finished it "Jet-glo" put some very old machine heads and a name plate and there it was.
I now have one of the coolest ornaments ever on my desk. If you look closely you'll see that the name plate actually says "Bickenracker"

I just picked up this guitar on the Bay and was wondering if anybody new anything about it? I have never seen one like it and was wondering what year it was as well as how many might have been made. This is the description from seller. SN is at the bottom of paragraph. this is the link to the ebay page. Any info would be cool. I need another guitar like I need a hole in the head but at $325 I couldn't let it go. The case has gotta be worth 1/2 that!

This is an extraordinary guitar. Dean EVO-DN-76 DOUBLENECK, featuring both 6-string and 7-string necks. There are so many exceptional points to be made on this guitar its hard to know where to begin. Featuring two SET NECKS, 4 Dean humbuckers, GROVER tuners on both necks, Abalone dot inlays in both necks and inlaid "Dean" and Dean "wing" logo's, all with nice color and figuring. The 6 string neck is the lower one and features a stop tailpiece and adjustable bridge (like a Les Paul), while the 7 string neck has an adjustable bridge with "string-thru-body" construction. Color is a silver metalflake and is near flawless. Truthfully, I can't find a mark or defect on this guitar to describe, but since it is not "brand new from the store" I will simply say it has absolutely minimal signs of use, and I've seen new guitars hanging on the rack that show more signs of wear than this one does. Everything is stock although I did add black metal dome knobs that complement the black pickups and look more expensive than the original speed knobs. The action and playability is absolutely great on both necks. This fine guitar comes with the Dean plush-lined hardshell case, and it too is very nice condition. Made in Korea. Serial number is: D20101376.
I have owned (and still own) many guitars of all makes, manufacture, new and old and am well aware of the continuing controversy of where this one is made or where that one is made, but the bottomline is the workmanship, the attention to detail, the playability, and the sound. There are cheaply made U.S guitars as well as fine U.S. examples, and the overseas versions are no different. This guitar is put together like a BMW and I believe you will be very impressed -- I guarantee you will get plenty of admiring looks and questions, it is really different.
Thanks again if anybody knows anything about this guitar. Kev..

Just became a father last night to a healthy baby boy!! Can't wait until he is old enough to learn how to play the guitar. And of course I'll have to get him a Dean!
So most of you know I got an Explosion Razorback about 2-3 weeks ago....Well when the Fed Ex guy arrived to give me my guitar, he just made me sign a paper and said have a good day. I asked him don't I have something to pay? shipping or something? He tells me its already covered and s#%t. So i'm damn happy cuz i'm used to paying about 100$ of shipping for guitars.
So now 3 weeks later I get this letter from Fed Ex saying I owe them 158$ for the shipping and the Taxes and all.
What the hell? they shoulda charged me when it was time to charge me don't you think? Now I gotta fork out that dough, which I was saving up for my damn car insurance coming up so0n. BAH!
Oh well its not that bad, but i'm still mad at this delayed b.u.l.l.s.h.i.t. lol.

Dayum! Hamer Artist Utimate.
Just thought I would post a shot of my pedalboard. The only thing not in the photo is my Dunlop Wah From Hell, but I set that off to the side. I plan on adding a BOSS Chorus Ensamble to finish it off, but what you are looking at is my Damage Control Demonizer pre-amp. It is an all tube and analog pre-amp in pedal form. I run it into the return of my Crate Power Block and use it as my tube front end. It is capable of really great distortion but has an even better clean tube sound. Next is my EH Metal Muff. It is such and amazing distortion pedal and is really quiet too. Next is my NS-2. I use it in the front of the chain to silence the pickup noise. The pre-amp and distortion are so quiet that they don't need to be gated. The board is an SKB.
Let's do a "Why-doesn't-Dean-offer-a..." topic
by Blazer on Fri Oct 06, 2006 11:57 pm
I'm sure we all have our own ideas on what the perfect guitar should be, let's put our wishes to words and go "Damn, why doesn't Dean offer guitars like that?"
Here's mine:
"Why doesn't Dean offer a Caddilac with a Floyd Rose?"
I am a Les Paul player, let's make that clear, I adjusted my whole way of playing on my two modified Epiphones.
I know what I'm gonna get with my two Lesters and know that I won't be in for unpleasant surprises. For my whammy duties I have a modified Strat with a double locking whammy but I'm not really happy about it. It feels and sounds, so different from my lesters that I constantly have to catch myself from making emberrassing mistakes.
Ever since buying myself an ML, I found out that that guitar is a little unwieldy for me, the body bulk being more than I'm used to but I have grown curious about the Caddilac model, that one having a more Les Paul like body and thus feeling more familiar to me. And if only Dean would offer the caddy with a Floyd Rose, it would also solve the adjusting problem I have with switching from my lesters to a strat every time I need a guitar with a whammy.
Does anyone know what products are safe to use for removing adhesive gunk from a guitar without harming the finnish? I removed the sticker from my FBD, but there is a fair amount of gunk still left on it and I dont know if things like goo gone will harm it.
My new USA Custom Chafin Ember. Very hot!
She sure is hard to photograph. The red trans quilt top looks like a swimming pool of blood...
I mean that in a good way. ha ha! Here are some pics:
She's got a flame cedar body and neck, bloodwood fretboard, quilt maple top,
SD JB (bridge) and Jazz (neck). She has great sound to her; very clear and crisp.
I'm very impressed with the minimal loss of output when splitting coils. I'm
really liking the various sounds I can get.
Weight: Don't have a very accurate scale, but she's a ton lighter than my 8lb HT
Classic. She's gotta be 7lbs or less. And there's still a bunch-o-tone to go around!
I'm very happy with her tone! Unplugged she sounds really nice. And she's got a sweeet soft v-neck.
Awesome geet! Long live granderojo guitarras!!!
OK I am looking for a low power tube amp. There are a couple that Ive been looking at and was wondering if anyone has played any and have some input. The Engl Classic 50 (yeah I know not exactly low power but hey what the hell). The Ampeg Reverb rocket or Jet combos. Ive also been looking at Rivera too.
Does anyone have any experience with these? Or any other reccomendations? Not too worried about price but would prefer to keep it under $1500 if I can. I am not looking for any kind of gain monster, just something that I can play that wont make my ears bleed in my small music room.
Thanks

Marshall Plexi look-alike amps...what's that name?
by MLTC on Sat Oct 07, 2006 4:27 pm

any one got any good sweeping scales to help me practice. im looking for my scales/ exiercises
I tried to record a vid with my Elecro Harmonix Metal Muff running through my Damage Control Demonizer direct into powered speakers so you guys can hear a little of what this sounds like. Project Pumkin V is under way
Just submitted the order for my new Geet. I am getting a USA Pro-V with pearl orange metalic body and matching series 2 headstock. Dean logo in abalone on the headstock. Ebony fret board with no markers. All black hardwear. A single Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge. One volume control. Tone set wide open. I plan on getting it from the factory at DOA 07'. I was told 60 days, but I am having it delayed so I can hand carry it home. More updates to follow as I hear from the fellas.
BEER BELLY! new song content STAGE DIVE added!
Some of you might still know it from the 2005 DOA CD. This time we've completely done it the right way with real drums, our real singer and so on. It's still a rough mix and the backing vocals need to be added, probably gonna redo the lead too. But I think it's pretty cool already especially this being my first "complete" recording job. Anyway check it out and flame away! Oh if you like it don't hesitate to leave a message in the guestbook, and I'd love to exchange some links with forum members! The complete 5-track EP will be finished in a month I hope!

Dimebucker in MLF
by CFH92 on Sun Oct 08, 2006 8:13 pm
If I were to put a Dimebucker in a 79 MLF, how would that sound? I've read some bad reviews on the Dimebucker like it gets alot of feedback and is fuzzy sounding if put in the wrong guitar. So I was wondering if putting it in a 79 MLF would sound good.
Good 24 fret guitar with good tone?
Hi guys im looking for a good 24 fret guitar with VERY good tone because i will be using it for recording purposes. My budget is around $600 and the only guitar i can find is The Jackson Dk2m.

Why some Schaller floyd nuts are shorter (in hieght, not length) than others? I got a R3 in chrome and it's much taller than a R2 in black, what the %$#@!? The other thing I need to know is if OFR nuts have bevels to be top mounted or not. While I'm on the subject, if anybody has OFR nuts or short Schaller nuts for sale let me know. I would be extremely greatfull if somebody could answer these questions. Thanks in advance.
Removing finish scratches safely
I just had my '73 Strat appraised for $4,000.00 which I purchased new for $365.00. It's nearly mint condition save for some fine finish scratches which cannot be seen unless you look closely undrer the light. Now that I know that it has appreciated over the years I would really like to get those scratchs out without screwing up the finish. Does anyone out there have any experience with refinishing techniques?
Dean case dealers Holland

Hey dude's!
I got a Dean VX, but no case to fit it. Does Dean sell fitting cases seperately, and if yes, do they sell them in Holland?
Or am I destined to make my own case? That were my plans anyway, but an original Dean case is way cooler
I emailed Peavey customer service yesterday, Sunday, evening requesting how I can get the schematics and any service manual for the Valveking 112. This morning, Monday, at 11:00 am I check my email and I have a response from them in which they attached a PDF. with the Schematics and parts list for the amp. Now, that's a class A+ customer service/tech response from a large company.
Hats off the Peavey.

whats your views

hey guys and girls. i was just wondering to you tend to spend more on your amp or your guitar and why? i tend to think you should spend the most money on your amp and your pups as they are the key to your sound but thats my opinion.there are other things that differ your tone E.g type of wood but mainly i think its the amp and pups.
what do you guys think of this

I have an Evo Special. I'm assuming the pickups are generic imports. They aren't too bad but I like the guitar alot and think it's worth a pickup upgrade. Anyone know for sure what the stock pups are if they aren't indeed an inexpensive import?
I'm mostly a blues player but also play a bit of bluesey hard rock/ metal. Any of you have a recommended pickup combo for this axe and my music?

Restoring an old Ibanez Blazer
by Blazer on Mon Oct 09, 2006 9:50 pm
Okay then, a few years ago I became the owner of a body of an early eighties Ibanez Blazer in brown that had been routed for a double locking Vibrato and came without any of the original hardware or electronics.
Recently I started work on this thing, I stripped it and re-finished it two tone sunburst (the picture doesn't do it justice, it actually looks like a vintage Fender strat sunburst), I made a luthlite pickguard which I sprak painted gold from the underside, the same way Gretsch does their pickguards. And, because I didn't have the original neck I put on an old Hondo neck which actually is a perfect fit.
I need to find a Vibrato that I can put on there and a couple of strat pickups but it already looks really good.
Show off the guitars you no longer own.
by Blazer on Mon Oct 09, 2006 11:07 pm
Okay then let's show off the guitars we used to have but had to let go for one reason or another.
1. Early nineties Korean made Vester solid of an unknown type, I never really liked the way it felt.
2. 2004 Fender Jaguar, Japanese. Loved the way it looked but it sounded very weak and tinny, the one I bought it from replaced the pickups in an efford to improve on that but to no avail.
3. Early eighties Japanese made Vantage VS 696, lovely guitar, had a nice fat neck and a very good sound, I should've kept it.
4. Recent Chinese made Dean ML, I bought this one for the inner metalhead, but it was neck heavy and I never liked the way it felt.
5. Recent Chinese made Stagg Tele, I modified that one a lot, nice guitar but it sounded kinda tinny and I sold it to somebody who has found a nice purpose for it.
6. 1993 Japanese made Squier Stratocaster. It has a replacement neck in this picture. It had a chipwood body but it didn't sound badly, it just couldn't replace my 1989 Squier strat so i sold it on.
7. Late eighties japanese made Hohner TE Custom telecaster copy. This guitar had the nicest neck I ever found on any guitar I owned, but it sounded really tinny and the blocky double bound body was really uncomfortable.
8. Mid eighties Charvel Model 3, I modified this one a lot, it had duncan pickups a Kahler vibrato and a fernandes neck (The original neck was broken beyond repair), I sold this one to somebody who offered me a good amount of cash for it. Since I didn't play it that much I agreed.
9. Recent ESP LTD Eclipse. Lovely guitar, very good sound but I never liked the speed profile neck it had and the screwed up harmonics because of the 24 frets, I traded that one in for my Epiphone sparkle Les Paul
10. Recent Ibanez Artcore. One I still regret selling.
11. 1979 Aria SB 700 bass. Cool looking bass, lovely full sound but a real back breaker.
12. Mid Nineties Vantage P-bass copy. My first bass, I replaced the neck a couple of times and put in dimarzio pickups, since it just gathered dust at my home I decided to get rid of it.
Tremonti's sticker choice
I clicked on a post someone put up of a youtube vid with Mark Tremonti playin a solo on stage and saw the related videos. Im sorry if this is a repost but in this one he's playin a singlecut with a picture of dime by the tremolo. I thought it was cool. He really is an amazing guitar player and the 6 string sweeps are beautiful sounding too by the way

Meliah Rage New Album & New Dean
by Vekin on Tue Oct 10, 2006 8:02 am
I've been friends with Meliah Rage since the 80s and have had Tony and Jimmy both use a few of my Deans in the past. Tony has used the same guitar for the 20 years and 7 albums. I kept telling him to check out the Dean page because he loved my guitars the few times he has played them. A few months back he called me one day and said, hey, can you get me one of those new Black Gold MLs? So quick call to Jon at Funky Monkey and done deal.
He loves the guitar and it is now his main axe. He said he iching to pick up another. He would like a white ML but those are no more...
Their new CD was released worldwide a few weeks ago and is frickin great. Check out some of the reveiws online or some of the clips and videos on their web page www.meliahrage.com
I reccomend it.
They are playing with Testiment this Thursday in NJ so should be a great 2 Dean guitar band night!
Below is a live shot and a couple of band promo shots with Tony sporting the new ML.

Another Jeepster Job (with some help from Mike too)!!
I was admiring Jeepsters work and thought to myself, "that man can paint". So I decided to have him create one of his masterpieces for me. I've been really into semi hollows lately, so I decided to get another.
I purchased an Epi Dot off E-bay!
First stop for the guitar was our resident technician, Mike! I had it sent directly to mike, never saw the guitar in its original state. Mike did a few things for me. He shaved the neck down to a very slim profile. I hate thick necks! Then, he chopped off that god aweful huge Epi headstock, and reshaped it exactly like a Gibby ES335. A new switch and a good fret polish and she was ready for stage 2. So, Mike bundled her up and shipped her off to Jeepster.
I had always wanted a flag guitar, and all the recent Stars and Stripes jobs by Jeep left me longing for my own bit of patriotism! So, I had Jeep paint her up as a Canadian Flag!
Some new pots and knobs and some new handwound pickups and she's a real player!
Thanks to two very talented forum members, I now have a really cool guitar! Thanks again Jeep and Mike!

If I ever dish out the cash to buy a tube amp, I'm looking at this badboy. Looks like it should be pretty badass.

Soltero Goldtop

i always liked the gold top lester and i know id like the goldtop soltero a heck of a lot more. think it's a possibility, or will they purposely not do it to distance it from the gibson? i think it would be awesome
My current Dean wish list
Here is my current Dean wish list. I'll only be getting these guitars if I somehow stumble into some money. The Soltero isn't on here because I am actually getting that one.

Tell the difference between a Vendetta XM and 1.0?
by Tekzel on Wed Oct 11, 2006 2:03 am
I just bought another Vendetta on EBay, and think I may have made a mistake. I thought it was a vendetta 1.0, used, but in good shape and the pictures looked good, but now I am wondering if it is an XM or a 1.0. If its a 1.0, the $69.95 was a great deal I think. If it is an XM, much less so. I really should have asked the seller before bidding of course so my mistake there. Anyway, if anyone knows how to tell this is it:
Vendetta on the Bay....
I wanted a second guitar for around $100 with shipping to keep at work so I can practice during lunch, had a very small buget for it and really didnt go looking for that one, just saw it as I was looking for a pre-wired pickguard for my wifes old strat. Thinking bout it, I probably should have saved up a little more and gotten a baby V or ML. Oh well.
I saw Iron Maiden Saturday night, and I must saw it was awsome. A Bullet for My Valentine opened, and they were decent music wise, but the singer wasnt really my cup of tea. As for Maiden they are sounding the best they ever have in my opinion, Bruce absolutly kills it, he sounds better than ever, and thier new album is pretty good too. At first I was dissapointed because our seats werent to good, and the view sucked for the most part, and they played thier entire new album, which was the first time I've ever heard it, good songs, but I didnt know any of them. After finishing the new album they went right into fear of the dark, and the whole place went nuts, it was frippin awsome. After that they played Iron Maiden, and 2 minutes to midnight. Then they said thanks alot and left, and came back on and and everyone went crazy again. They played Hallowed be thy name, which was sick, and giant ed came out to, which was also awsome. And then they just left the stage. Everyone was kinda like what the %$#@!???!! and then the lights on stage flashed on again, and I expected them to come running out playin the Trooper or something awsome, but they didnt. And then it was over. On top of that, I bought a way overly priced shirt, and I put it on, but took off the other 2 shirts I was wearin ( one of which was my Pantera shirt that i wear alot) and low and behold some icehole stole em. Imagint that, Im there to see maiden, they are there to see maiden, and they steal my shirt. Long story short, I was dissapointed, but then walkin back to the speedline I was like "Hold on, I just saw frippin Iron Maiden!!! I have absolutly nothin to be disapointed with. After Judas Preist last summer and now Iron Maiden, I can die a happy man." And then it was all good If They are commin to your area on this tour and tickets are still available, see them, you wont be sorry.

Hooking up Boss GT8 with a PC

Project Pumpkin is killed and.....
Just got a call from my guy at Dean. My orange V will not become a reality becuase of reasons which I can't talk about here. (You will all hear why shortly but it is not my place to say). So instead I ordered a sexy deep trans purple Time Capsule V. My biggest reason for posting this is because I didn't want to sound like a liar when I didn't produce the orange monster I boasted in another thread. There are some production changes coming soon and it just can't be done at this time. I was sad, but the TC will surley make me happy as hell. I will post photos of her as they come.
Pick Up HELP, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey guys i was wondering if you could help me out choosing a neck pup, i want to put in my Alder strat, i want a warm, quite powerful and bassy tone.
Any suggestions, please help
Thanks
In the case with my TCML I found a set of BRG strings! I strung up my ML with them and they are AWESOME! And the price? Whoa!!!
Just figured I would let you guys know, these strings are killer and quite cost effective
Basically, I'm after a Chorus, a Delay ... and maybe a Phaser
Which are the best and cheapest ones ?!
Hi guys,
today I finally received my new combo amp. It's a Randall RG100G3. Been trying different settings and got some good sounding stuff but also was wondering what settings other owners of this amp use...
I mostly play Metallica kind of music...
On my newly bought razorback, the high e string doesn't really make any sound other than twangy vibrations on the first and second fret. The third fret is just fine. An example is - If I play a D major/minor I can only hear the B & G strings, If I play a G major, sounds great. Is this an issue with the strings , hardware or what? It's a little frustrating after spending so much money. Thanks.
BRIAN MAY
How many guitarists do you know about
that has made an entire career with an instrument
they built themselves ... FROM SCRATCH
I'm not talking EVH style humbucking strat with Floyd
which really is 2 guitars combined + an added Floyd.
I'm talking about the Red Special
| Quote: |
Brian's guitar, the Red Special is unique.
He built the guitar himself, with some help from his father, when he was still at school.
Incredibly, over 40 years later, this is still Brian's number one guitar and he regularly
uses it both on stage and in the studio. One of the unique features
of the Red Special is its series wiring for the pickups. Most guitars are wired in parallel,
but Brian equipped his guitar with 3 single coil pickups wired in series.
Each pickup has a switch to turn it on and off and a phase change switch. This allows a
huge variety of sounds as different pickups and different phase combinations are used.
The neck of the guitar is mahogany, from an old fire-surround. The centre block and fingerboard
are oak and the front and back of the body are a mahogany veneer over blockboard.
The construction is semi-solid with large routed areas either side of the centre block of the body.
Brian made his guitar from the materials he had available at the time - these included
motorbike valve springs (tremolo springs), shelf edging (white binding) and mother of pearl buttons (neck position dots).
The pickups were originally home-made but Brian was unhappy with the sound and replaced them with Burns Tri-sonic single coils,
which he potted with epoxy resin to prevent them becoming microphonic.
Unusually for its time, the guitar features a 24 fret (2 octave) neck and a tremolo system which will 'dive bomb' and come back perfectly in tune.
It cost him just £8 to build the guitar
and it is now surely one of the most unique and valuable guitars in the world. |
I didn't wanna say anything before I won
the actual auction, and since it's done now ...
I hereby present ...
the ... MXR 10-band Equalizer ...
the blue one, from the 70's
How much did I pay for it ?
$19
now I guess I have to go look for a 110V adapter
so I wont fry the pedal
Custom Shop Post - Not Dean
I just got my Moser Custom Shop Templar Series Genesis...
I have to say; you will be hard-pressed find a nicer professional-grade HANDMADE (no cnc) guitar under $1,500.00 with case and shipping included. This hand-made monster is incredible. The hand-carved bone nut and action are leveled to the point of sheer and utter perfection. It has harmonics and sustain impossible to beat, and it only has 1 pup! It's simple with an oil finish, but the Walnut is beautiful, both it and the maple are slightly figured. The 24 frets are med. jumbo 61/50's, and it has a tall yet thin 2pc maple neck. EXTREMELY comfortable, it has a feel, a strong mojo, that's just incredible. It's SO good, I had to order one of the neck-thru customs, but that has a 2-year wait!
Thanks for reading...
PS. With a pro setup, the Dean Pro Series comes REAL close, but the new ones cost way more than $1,500.00.
Here is the Demonizer direct
This time I plugged the direct out of the Demonizer right into a pair of powered computer speakers just for fun. There is no amp in this at all. I do use my Wah From Hell a little and there is a touch of chorus in there but that is it. So this is pedals right into powered speakers. Sorry for the sloppy playing but I didn't warm up and I recorded this in a hurry.

Oh I almost forgot. Last night at rehearsal, I plugged my pedal board direct into the PA board. The Demonizer flat out killed anything I have ever used before. This thing has got to heard in person to appreciate.
Ok so I want to change the pickups in my ML Select, and I am tore between the 59'/Dimebucker and the 59'/XL500. I know the XL500 combo will be alot more affordable for me right now, but which of the two is better? If I have to I'll wait for the Dimebucker.
Where should Boss GT5 go?
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the best way to hook up my Boss GT5. The GT5 is the older version of the Boss GT8 incase you didn't know.
Right now I have my guitar going into my peveay XXL and then a MXR 10 band EQ in the loop.
I am wanting my GT5 mainly for the noise gate, and a few effects. My MXR EQ will always be on and I will use the GT5 EQ for a boost or something like that.
I don't feel like messing around with it right now (I JUST WANT TO JAM!), so I just thought I would ask here.
Broken BGML update. (Action shots!)
Well some of you know I purchased a Black Gold ML with a broken neck. Well she's all better and doing well... DAMN well! Plays like butter and it didn't even need a TR adjustment!
I havnt been able to polish it up and take some good porn of it but heres a few shots from her first show.
when it first arrived...
now...
sorry, but those are the only pics the stupid photographer took of the second half of our set (which is when I played the BG.) Anyway, here some other cool Dean action shots... enjoy!

been sweating my ass off on this lead, I am definately not a virtuoso so had to do it a few times before it was right. The 5 tracks for our EP are almost done, need to redo some vocals, add backing vox and I need to do 3 more leads and then we'll be off mixing and taking care of coverart and such!
O'Hagan guitars

Isn't Jayba a fan of these? A guy on the Fender site snagged this for $60 at a pawn shop. I hate him. Early 80s Japanese stuff rules.
Randall MTS guys... Give me some help.
Ok. This is a paste of the post I made on the Randall forum. I figured I'd post here as well because this place is way more active and because I know there's dudes here who love the MTS amps. So here goes...
| Quote: |
Ok, I'm really excited because if all goes well, I'll be getting a RM100!!!
Here's the deal. I bought a RH300 from my local shop and it had problems. FINALLY my dealer had Randall send me a brand new amp, and it had the same problems (bass frequancy is making the speakers fart out... BAD.)
Anyways, since the shop will only do refunds for store credit, I'm going to try to get him to take my SECOND busted head back as a $600 deposit on the nice shiney RM100 they have just sitting there!
I believe the one in the shop has a "clean" module, a "ultra" module, a third unknown module and MAYBE a fourth unknown module sitting on top of it. Sorry but I don't remember.
Here's what I want to get out of my amp... Channel 1 will be clean. Judging by sound clips I've heard, I'm POSITIVE I'll be getting the "blackface" to take this position.
Channel 2 will be my rythym. I play in a 80's style thrash band. "Kill em' All" kinda music. I want a nice scooped sound with tight low end and super sharp highs. I have an EQ, but I still want the module to sound as close to what I want as possible. Any suggestions???
Finally channel 3 will be set at a higher volume and be my solo tone. Basicly looking for a built in overdrive! I'm looking for high gain, clarity, sustain and buttery mid-range. Any mods that will give me this?
Thanks in advance for any help fellas! Lol this was a pretty long, detailed post, but I really want my Randall to be everything I want it to be. Even with the bad experiences with my G3 I STILL want to stay with Randall. Being taught from the ground up in a shop that sells Randalls as well as being greatly influenced by ol' Dimebag, I f&*king bleed Randall!!! |
I created a monster!

I was bored yesterday. I had a couple of small practice amps laying around not getting used. One is a Squier Champ 15 and the other is a First Act M2A-110. Both are decent at what they were designed for, with the First Act being a little better (and once I removed the First Act logo rather cool looking). I have no other amp, just a Digitech RP5 and some decent headphones. So what do I do? I create Frankenamp! The FA has a 6" speaker and the Squier an 8". I literally bolted them together from the inside and bored a hole between them to run the wires. The guts from the FA is running both speakers, and the Squier is actually now just an attached speaker cab. The result was surprising to me. It's LOUD. I mean LOUD! It sounds good too! It's not the best amp ever on it's own, but running through the RP5 the cleans get very loud before breaking up and the distortion sounds good to my ears. Here's a pic. It's a photoshop mockup but mine is itentical, just didn't take a pic last night. Strange the things you can come up with.
Seeking advice from left handed players
Hello Southpaws!
My boy, who turns 5 tommorow, seems very interested in guitars. He loves my Deans.
He's a lefty.
Should I teach him to play right handed? I know this has been done before.
Or should I just get him a lefty. If he plays left handed, give me some insight into the problems left handed players have. Are the guitars more expensive? Are the models limited?
Thanks
Mark
I was at a local guitar shop where I live just the other day and I ran across a gainiac rack preamp. For real cheap. The first one not the second one. I was wondering if the gainiac would run well with my Peavey Valve King head. Does anyone else have the first gainiac or know much about it? I was just curious.
Thanks, Justin.
Opinions on Krank's Distortus Maximus?
I've been thinking of getting a distortion pedal. The distortion in my amp sucks, got a few good ones in the G2 but I'm not quite happy with it. So I read about the DM and it got great reviews. There was a video review of it on guitarworld's september issue but I don't think he cranked it really. I'm playing heavy s#%t like pantera, strapping young lad etc. and need pretty much gain.
Anyone got any opinions on the DM or any substitutes?
thanks
Are RH100's naturally noisy ?
I've been fiddling around with my new recording
gear tonight and I made an unpleasant discovery.
Playing on the Modern Hi-Gain I noticed
noise coming from the amp. It was not hum
nor feedback. It was just like a silent hiss,
but GOD DAMN it's annoying.
Meanwhile, playing on the clean channel or the Brit Hi-Gain
doesn't generate any noise at all
Tone help, pedal's etc...
by Alex! on Thu Oct 12, 2006 9:30 pm
Hey guys, I'm trying to improve my tone, and a new amp is pretty much out of the question, so I was thinking, what pedal's would improve my tone?
I'm thinking of getting a BBE Sonic Stomp pedal as I can't afford a Maximiser and I hope it'd be as effective. I was also thinking about an MXR KFK 10 band.
It's just, I like the distortion I get from my pedal, but I guess I just kinda want...more lol.
So what do you guys suggest?
LINE 6 Tone Port
by Büdda on Thu Oct 12, 2006 11:27 pm
Does anyone have any experience with these? I have been considering one just to have another easily accessible Place to plug in my guitar other than my bedroom or the Studio. I figure itd be a good thing to have.
I have some experience with Line 6 stuff, namely I used to own an AXSYS212 combo (cant believe I let her go....)
Any input on these things would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Let's talk about that single guitar that means the most to you, the treasured one, the one that you wouldn't borrow to anybody not even if they offered you a thousand bucks.
In my case that honor goes to "The Veteran" which is a 1989 Squier Stratocaster in Lipstick red.
I bought this guitar new on my fifteenth' birthday back in 1991 to replace a cheap Telecaster copy with an Yngwie Malmsteen approved scalloped neck, the damn thing just wouldn't stay in tune. I knew I wanted a strat and I had saved up enough money to buy myself a Squier, the shop from which I bought it carried Squiers in Black and in white, only one example came in red and I bought it. This particullar shade of Red was apparently a rare color for squier because I haven't seen another one since. The Squier became my main guitar as I started gigging with it almost the day after I got it.
Later as I entered my final teen years and passed the 20 mark in age I began to experiment with the guitar, it became all covered up in stickers and I eventually began replacing the stock single coils for something more powerful, putting in several Humbuckers in the bridge position before settling on a Dimarzio DLX soapbar pickup, leaving the empty holes where the neck and middle pickup sat vacant. And I replaced the original neck (I never really liked the profile of that neck anyway) with a Telecaster neck and to keep the sweetheart in tune I installed a Kahler vibrato. In that guise "The Veteran" survived for many years.
Here I am playing "The Veteran" live. December 2004
Last year I decided to clean "The Veteran" up, I removed all the stickers, replaced the pickguard and put the neck and middle pickups back in.
But wear and tear began to rear their ugly heads and it became apparent that the old faithful was ready to retire. So I brought her back to strat hood by installing a 1985 Squier Strat neck, replacing the Dimarzio with a single coil and wiring it all up like a Strat is supposed to be wired. I did keep the Kahler vibrato, loving the smooth way it worked and the way it kept my guitar in tune.
So as a tribute, I made a matching copy of "The Veteran" using the Dimarzio and a similar Kahler bridge. A playable snapshot of "The Veteran" as it looked with the tele neck. I routed the body myself it became a real labour of love, the resulting guitar got the nickname "The Rookie"
But "The Rookie" didn't replace "The Veteran" as my main guitar as I intended it to do, my red Epiphone Les Paul did that.
Just today, I came home and I noticed that "The veteran" was missing from the stand, suspecting my younger brother (Who also is my next door neighbour) who owns a key to my appartment, knew more of it, I decided to check things out ant his place, and sure enough, there it was. Before I walked out with "The Veteran" I told him:
"Look, if you want to borrow a guitar please ask me first and second, you can borrow any guitar you want from me EXCEPT the red one, NOBODY but me touches that guitar, understood?"
OK I'll admit it plays nice
But its still an ugly design for a guitar. I walked into GC tonight and the first 5 guitars right inside the door were Dime-o-flame, an ML-xm, Dime-o-flage, Shencker V (bolton) and a DFH.Grabbed up the DFH and plugged it in and I gotta say that the guitar plays wonderfully. Setup on it was ok and could have been better, but the guitar is fast and smooth. If it wasnt an ML it would have gone home with me. The 3 boltons were ok players for what they are, but man can you tell the difference in the neck as soon as you pick up the Flame. The DFH neck was sweet as can be. Side by side the Flame felt like a baseball bat. Anyone that says you cant cant a nice clean tone from the BL pup is dead wrong. That baby was singing. Got some strange looks from people while jazzing out on the DFH hehe. Figured Id show em what a Dean could do and gave em a nice rendition of Black Napkins for them to ponder. There was only one other person plugged in and even he came over to watch. Man if only it wasnt an ML. They also had a demonator in the bass room that I chugged around on for a bit. Really nice sounding bass for the price. All in all had a fun night finally getting to try the DFH out.
DiMarzio pups, which do you prefer?
I had ordered Schenker Customs in my custom ML and it's killer. When I got my faded denim ML I thought it sounded a little hollow, and the harmonics were soft. Everything looks normal, the pup height is good, but the damn tone is lacking something for sure. It has DiMarzio pups, so is it the maple top, the pups, or me? I am considering putting SD's in it, any thoughts before I proceed?
TESTAMENT SHOW AT STARLAND 10/12
by TXC123 on Fri Oct 13, 2006 4:43 pm
Saw Testament yesterday at the starland ball room in Sayerville, NJ. First time ever seeing them live and what a show it was. There was a buncha opening bands but I missed most of them except the last one who was awful...but then testament came on and at first they were having some technical problems with alexs guitar...kept cutting in and out but they fixed it up before he had to play his solo which was awesome. Alex was going through JCM 800's I believe and Eric was using Mesa trip rec's I think. The whole night both guitarists used jut one axe, Alex used a Gibson les paul standard and Eric used his black dean USA v,which looked sick. Their set list was amazing they opened up with the Preacher which sounded so awesome to hear live finally, next was THE NEW ORDER one of my favs the solo owned, alex is really an amazing guitarist..after chuck billy asked if we still practiced what we preached heh then of course ripped that song up...Then without saying anything they went into THE HAUNTING which the harmony part owned......next was the song BURNT OFFERINGS which chuck billy kinda screwed up on heh but he played it off pretty funny..I think hes earned to right to mess up every once in a while.....after this my memory gets a bit fuzzy but I think they played LET GO OF MY WORLD which sounded awesome..then after that they played electric crown which is a classic....then chuck billy handed the mic to the bass player gregg christian and he doesnt talk much but he pretty much said wuts up I dont know why he hands me the mic all the time but this is SOULS OF BLACK....next song up chuck billy points to the pit and goes you know what to do this ones for you then they ripped on INTO THE PIT......then they went into ALONE IN THE DARK a real oldschool fav. Then for th pre encore they did OVER THE WALL which was so cool to finally hear live the harmonized solo sounds so amazing live and alex nailed the solo with such finess. They walked off for a bit people started to chant and stuff and then chuck billy goes we got more s#%t if you get LOUDDDD and then people went nuts of course they came back out and played raging waters with louie clement he only did one song and pretty much left the stage just cool to see the real original line up. They closed with DISCIPLES OF THE WATCH and the place went nuts.......Overall this was a great show anyone who knows any testament I would strongly suggest seeing them as they will make you a huge fan......afterwords I met alex skolnick who came out into the crowd after about 10 mins and just started chatting....I must say he is one of the nicest and most down to earth metal players i've ever met he doesnt talk to you like hes the s#%t or anything heh just a regular dude...I asked him about dean guitars too he said he loves them just cant give up his gibsons heh which I understand...but anyway AWESOME SHOW!

Ok, I tried resisting asking this question, but...
by Tekzel on Fri Oct 13, 2006 4:46 pm
I am a curious person. Some may call it nosey, but whatever. I see a lot of hating on some guy called Ed Roman on this board and I resisted the urge to ask what its all about up until now but I gotta know! Whats the deal? You can always PM me with the info if you dont want to talk about it out loud. Hah
On a side note, I visited his site and saw some custom guitars he makes under a company named "Abstract Guitars"... Some of them were just too wierd but some looked cool! I especially liked the Pagan in black.
Dean! Make some more modern wild shapes, the razorback was a step in the right direction but that was Dimes design. You guys should come up with a few non round lines that are representative of this milennium. Dont get me wrong, the ML is great and I just had to have one, but I personally would like to see some more body style variety.
NON guitar things to promote dean
by * on Fri Oct 13, 2006 5:06 pm
okay, i was thinking on this about things that would not nessecarily relate to guitars themselves, BUT promote dean and also make them a little bit of money in the process.got any ideas like this? my idea is...
Let an aftermarket controller company use the ML shape and V headstock design so guitar hero players(which that game is HUGE) can play a dean guitar controller, even if the game is only gibson. i would shell out 40 bucks for a dean controller instead of the crappy SG one that comes with it, or the Xplorer for the 360 version of the sequel.
I've found out that the modern hi-gain channel
on my RH100 seems to be naturally noisy.
Not feedback noise, but more of a hiss, so I'm
looking for a noisegate.
I've listed three different brands I know of
that makes noisegates. I've never had any experience
with them before so I'm hoping you could
tell me pros and cons with each one
Thanks.
BBE sonic maximizers
by Electric on Fri Oct 13, 2006 11:05 pm
I've been looking into these. I heard they are really good invesment.
Well anyways, my question is what is the difference between the 362 and the 482i
The 362 is cheaper... and since I'm not too good with technical stuff, that is the only differnce I could find besides cosmetically.
Does one work/sound better or something?
Thanks in advance.
Does anyone know if the body of an SG supreme is capable of being routed for a floyd? It seems to me that the body might be too thin. I really dont care if the block would show on the back due to lack of a cover or anything like that. I have been playing mine more lately and was thinking how awesome and unique it would be if it had a gold floyd rose(to match the hardware). It already plays amazing and if I could divebomb and squeel on it, it would be even better.
I would shell out the money in heartbeat to get this done if I thought it could be.....
Can you imagine it?....I CAN!
Time Capsule Caddie's US made or imports
by Vekin on Sat Oct 14, 2006 12:27 am
I was under the impression that all of the TC's were made in USA yet I see a bunch of TC black caddies on the bay new for 499.00 or 599.00 with triple pups what the deal. It says only 250 made. these must be an import correct? and if so why call them TC's Thanks Kevin..
THE NECK-URETHANED OR NOT
The neck on my china VX is not urethaned, is it supposed to be. and also it is continuously going out of tune
Floyd guitar suggestions
by 05MBGTO on Sat Oct 14, 2006 12:49 am
I posted this in another thread that kinda got buried so I'll make a new one. I'm in the market for something with a floyd. I was looking for maybe a used MLF but most say the floyd is crappy, etc
Is the Floyd on the MLF really that bad ? Being that I'm a noob player will I notice the difference. I want to get something with a Floyd but don't want to spend alot of $$ . I know I have the Dimeslime on order but I don't intend to play it very much so I want something I can play most of the time. Since I have never dealt with anything with a Floyd I don't want a crappy one that's gonna complicate things and make it more difficult to learn how to set up on my own. I see used MLF's floating around in my price range but the FBD,Flame,DFH are still kinda high in price used. What should I look out for ? What other brands have a decent Floyd and are not too expensive used ? I'm not really concerned about the shape but I would like to stay pointy if possible. Fire away with suggestions.
standard 79 ml fits a razorback case really well
i didn't know exactly where to post this but i recently bough a 79 from a foum member without a case and so i thought maybe it would fit in the razorback case sho' nuff it did . imo it fit a lot better then some of the cases i have seen designed to fit the standard ml. the 79 was snug in the razorback case with no room for movement but i didn't have to squeez the ml in there it was just a nice snug fit .
so any of you guys that have some of the chinese cases for like the DFH/cfh or other mls and are disapointed in the fit , this gives you an excuse to buy a razorback .
I just got the chance to finally krank my amp up & use the Boss GT-8 floor processor.......&.......it kicked my ass! The amount of different tones you can get from this thing is amazing. I feel like I've finally found my all the tones that I'll need.
I was able to find tones for playing some Lynyrd Skynyrd, AC/DC, Metallica, Pantera, light blues & surf guitar. This thing has got it all.
I considered getting a Randall G3 stack, but even with my cheap ol' Crate it impressed the hell out of me. I think I'll stay with the Crate for now. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
For those looking at this pedal, I say go for it. You'll be impressed with what you can do with this thing.
i just got The Crusade and i was very dissapionted wen i started listening to it in the car because i couldnt stand matts new singing but then wen i got home i listenend to the whole album and i am realy liking mats new singing. their guitar has totally changed from Ascendency but i still like it. i still like ascendency way better but this is still a pretty good cd. if ur a trivium fan i would say buy it.
should i get a fbd with everything i want in it or should i get a 79 ml with a floyd rose and buy bl pickups and a case?
the 79s cheaper even after i get a case and etc. but what about playability and duability and all that other suff?
My band is playing here tonight. http://www.fishheadcantina.com/directions.html
we go on at around 9:30. We are on all night so c'mon down and help us blow the roof off this place. This is an ALL AGES SHOW!

What do you guys think?!
Need some info on the X2N
I'll be getting a new guitar soon (a Dean MLF) and I'm probably going to go about upgrading the stock pickups it has on there. I love the EMGs in my paul but I don't want to put them in everything I've got, and seeing as how the site says the X2N is the highest gain pickup on there I was wondering if anyone had any experience with it and could vouch for its integrity. I'm not necessarily a gain whore, but I DO play metal and I want something that packs a punch.
Any tips for a neck pickup wuold be welcome as well. Thx guys.
Question about Kahlers...
Hey guys. Instead of getting the FBD I'm grabbin a '79 MLF and, aside from changing pickups I also wanted to get rid of the licensed rose and was thinking about getting a Kahler in there. My question is, would I be able to take the licensed rose out and fit a Kahler in there? And if yes, what kind of Kahler bridge WOULD I be able to throw in to replace the licensed rose?
you know the one that reminds you of the taste of metal. the smell often comming from shorted out equipment. or similar to the smell f Ozone (a product of current travelling thru air)
well i had my first practice with my drummer, (first time playing with a Drummer ever actually) i had my 2 MG100DFX amps on about 1/2 volume each. everything was fine...
then today i started playing and while at that same volume one of the amps had that electrical smell comming from the speaker... it still sounds the same tho. and it stopped smelling like that when i turned it back down...
what should i do?
That local Richmond, Virginia Power Metal act "Immortal Avenger" just got signed by Dean! Anyone care to comment on its validity??? I just got back from their 2nd EP release show and I got the ringing in my ears and the EP to prove it
24 fret maple fretboard guitar?
Anyone know of any other than the Jackson DK2m?
Best time to buy / sell guitars...
Let's hear it!
What do you feel is the best time of the year to sell a guitar and conversely, buy one?
I used to think certain times of the year were better than others however, it appears that things have been soft all around for quite some time now.
Thoughts?

This this is cool!
Drives a 412 Marshall Vintage cab just as nice as a single 12" Peavey Black Widow.
Onsale now for 99.00 @ Guitar Center
I couldn't resist for 99.00 and it comes with a cool carrying case.
I am honored.... I guess. LOL
I just logged into Youtube to mess around and got an e-mail from these guys http://www.g66.eu/ (my ugly mug is on the top left of thier homepage) that they are one of the European Damage Control dealers and they liked my playing and wanted to post my vids so people can hear the Demonizer. LOL That is funny. If I thought that was going to happen maybe I would have made some better recordings.
We rented some backline from guitar center, a Marshall Bluesbreaker(Cool!!!) and some bass cabs. Anyway, they had three Hardtail selects there. Are they selling all of Deans' line now? The Tiger eye and the trans red didn't look so hot. The braziliaburst, however, was amazing. And the rosewood fretboards were very grainy and exotic looking. The tiny dot markers are a turn off for me, and I guess that oversized upper horn still bugs me. I thought it was wierd that they had these, I guess.

Some great chill music...
Red Sparowes (yes, that's how they spell Sparrows) I've been a fan of this band for awhile and they recently put a new CD that it just great for relaxing. They're very primitive in their setups, they get great tones from just their guitar and amps and very few pedals (the one I think I've only recognized is reverb and wah). Very atmospheric, a bit dark, and it leans on the progressive side of rock... Check them out. Here's a small taste of what they do.

Is this model any good ? I found one locally for sale. The only problem according to the ad is it shuts off after about an hour then if you turn the power off and on again it will work for awhile. What could be wrong with it ? Sounds like an overheating issue ? I'm not really interested in it but it is really cheap so it may be worth picking up. What does it cost to get an amp repaired and where would one take it ? Any thoughts ? And yes I ask alot of questions, you don't learn unless you ask.
so i gots me another question.
ive got my two tokais. im pretty positive about keeping the bullseye one, but im unsure about the gold top.
when my slimes payed for i wanna do some mods pickup wise to one of them.
im inclined to do a ZW emg set in the bullseye git, just cause it would fit. but im curious about the sounds ill get from a solid state amp and these pics ups.
but, thatsnot set in stone that itll be in that guitar. i might just as soon try them in the gold top.
any opinions on this combo? EMG ZW set + solid state amp?
A question for people who own several of the same guitar
by Blazer on Tue Oct 17, 2006 12:59 am
Okay I figure that we all have multiple guitars in our collections and as I presume, several example from the same kind of guitar. I'd like to ask do you hear difference between each guitar which makes it sound different from the others.
I currently own Three Les Pauls and they all sound destinctly different.
1. My Epiphone Les Paul Custom with replaced neck and Seymour Duncan 59 pickups. This is the harshest sounding one of the bunch, it comes from the time that Epiphone made their Lesters from Alder but it's replacement Mahogany neck with Ebony fingerboard gives it a really viscious roar, it clearly was made for rocking hard and the Duncan pickups willingly deliver.
2. My Epiphone Les paul Standard limited edition silver sparkle. Same pickups set up as my red lester, other than that this guitar is bone stock.
I bought this one as a back up for the red one but it turned out a much different guitar. Like the Red one I replaced the stock pickups with Duncan 59's (God I love the sound of that pickup) and like the Red one it comes with an Alder body. But because it has a maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard it sounds very different from the Red one, it sounds much mellower. don't get me wrong, I can still rock hard on this axe but it's also much more at home with clean parts than the Red One is.
3. My Goldtop Frankenstein lester. Made from a hollw body Seventies Lawsuit body (probably an Ibanez but I'm not sure) and a seventies Diamond neck, it has a wilkinson humbucker in the neck and a Dimarzio PAF Pro at the bridge.
It was funny, but when I posted this picture of my Goldtop, the main reaction was: "Your guitar will sound very Jazzy with you using a trapeze tailpiece" Because the truth turned out something completely different. Because of the chambered body, the neck which has a zero fret and because the trapeze tail mades the tension different from a normal stop tail, it actually brasher than any of my epiphones, it has the loudest accoustic tone of my lesters. When plugged in, it sounds more airy than my other two lesters, a bit Gretsch like, although the Dimarzio still lets it rip when I turn on distortion. I was planning of putting on a Bisgby but it sounds fine as it does.
Bad times.......need metal help....
Hey guys. This is probably a stupid post, but I just wanted to
vent about some crap. I just had to break up with my girlfriend
of 5 years because I found out a couple of days ago that she has
been using drugs, and in my house nonetheless. I've been
playing guitar and just cranking Pantera for the past few days,
and I have to say, it really is helping me deal with the anger
and stuff. I went through a divorce 10 years ago, and Metal
really helped me through that time as well. I just wanted to
let people know that in my life, metal has been an inspirational
and positive release for me, instead of how it is usually portraid
as negative. To me, releasing my anger and frustration through
guitar playing and writing songs has helped me a great amount,
and I wanted to know if it has helped anyone else in the same
way.
Thanks for reading my crap....
AC/DC fans?

i just watched the most awesome AC/DC performance i've ever seen. angus goes CRAZY.
i only caught the last 10 minutes of this set, from BBC crown Jewels, sight and sound in concert.
they did "Rocker", in which angus goes NUTS playing all over the crowd in the balcony, then gets on the ledge and starts rocking out, with no reguard for his own safety, then he flails around the stage all over the place.
Then angus comes out and rips an insane intro solo that segways into "TNT". again, the band blows everything away.
this is the craziest angus performance i have ever seen.
well its not a dean but it is a mint condition set neck warlock that i picked up for 199 the neck is strait as an an arrow guitar plays like butter ussually id b like no dean no deal but this guitar is worth every penny i paid aside from my fingerprints its perfect!!

Metal Magic, Projects in the Jungle and I am the Night etc...
MARK KNOPFLER! I was flipping through my cd's and came across the best dire straits albumn "love over gold" and just thought that he is one of the most under appreciated guitarists, at least in america. Ive never heard or read anything "bad" about him, but he is rarely the subject of articles and such. I really think he is amazing. Not so much what he plays but how he plays it. He has so much finesse and little nuances to his playing. Anyone else think so?

Need a Kahler reccomendation
Well i've been talking to GMW and it looks like this tremolo idea is gonna happen on my SG supreme. I need a suggestion though as to which model to go with. The 2200 or 2300. I've read the descriptions but I'm not familiar enough with kahlers to choose one model over the next. Thoughts? Also im open to changing pickups. Anyone have any cool ideas for those too. I'm thinking I want a coil tap on the neck if that helps. The goal here is some versatility.....

well boys, I got a very interesting phone call this morning. Basically I was offered an endorsement deal for a guitar company. Im not allowed to say which company, but regardless I turned them down cuz it wasnt DEAN guitars. I thanked them politely for the offer, and declined it, telling them,

| "Sorry I love my Deans, and I dont care if I have to pay full retail for Dean guitars the rest of my life, I dont care. Simply the best guitars on the planet - PEROID" |
Was I stupid for not taking the deal? Free guits are nice, and what not,but I just believe in Dean guitars that much.

Washburn WE333 Snow Camo VS Dean MLF
by bsmith on Fri Oct 20, 2006 3:12 am
Does anyone have any insight as to wich one would be a better playing guitar if each had the same hardware (floyd, pickups, tuning pegs):
A Washburn WE333 or a Dean MLF
I've never played a Washburn before so I'm not sure how well they play.
Thanks!

Should I go Dean?
by Perks on Fri Oct 20, 2006 12:29 pm
Hey all
I live in Australia and currently own a 2005 Ibanez Prestige RG2550E
http://www.music123.com/Ibanez-RG2550EGK----Solid-Body-Electric-Guitar-i250008.music
Its a fantastic guitar, its plays extremely well, but i would like a heavier sounding guitar and i was considering a Slime Bumblee Razorback.
However if i get the razorback i'll be replacing the neck pup with a Dimarzio Evolution because i still play alot of funk and jazz for my schools bigband but i also love the smooth tone of the evo. The reason i'm not too sure if i should go dean is because i'm not sure if the razorback is infact better then my current guitar.
The pros it has over mine (I reackon) are: A Mahogany body, set neck, dimebucker, the neck a bit thicker (the extremely thin neck on my rg crampes my hand when playing chords)
The cons against my ibanez (I Reackon) are: A liscenced floyd rose bridge (mine has an edge pro), mine has a 5pc neck (i'm not sure the RB) and 24 jumbo frets (i'm fine with 22 frets on the RB but i'm not sure how big the frets are). The ibanez is also made in japan and i'm a little iffy about the razorback being made in china.
I really need help on this guys, i reackon the razorback is a sick guitar and i really want to own one, but i don't want to make the mistake of selling my ibanez to get a guitar poorer then it. So what do you guys reackon should i go dean or stick with the ibanez?
Thanks heaps guys.

Wah's with fasel...which ones?
by MLTC on Fri Oct 20, 2006 3:00 pm
I'm having a hard time finding clear information on which wah's offered by Dunlop come with fasel? I know Slash's does, but I'm not sure if the Wylde/Dime/Hendrix wahs have the classic fasel circuit?
And do any Morley wahs have the fasel circuit? Any information is very appreciated.

So, yeah, any good un's will be well appreciated.

SG hot-rodding suggestions.....no haters please.....
Ok so.... I've been looking into this whole tremolo issue for my SG supreme for a while now and im sure some of you have seen my post regarding a floyd on it. Here's where the project is now. I've been talking to GMW guitar works and they will put the Kahler and string locks on. They confirmed what I was afraid of and what several people had told me, that the guitar is too thin. I thought it would be, but wanted a luthier's opinion. But I dont neccesarily want to stop at the kahler. I think that although I like the EMG 85's I want to change the pickups and possibly route it for a third pickup that is single coil in size. Probably an actual single coil, but possibly a mini humbucker. I've been thinking about a fernandes sustainer also. Give me all your suggestions for any kind of modifications. Radical does not scare me. I will consider them all, and want to have a good bank of ideas beyond just what pops into my head before I drop it off at the shop. I want this to be an SG like no one has seen before. I care not about what the traditionalists think about it. No one used to put a floyd on ML's until a certain individual did, and now everyone wants one......go figure

Cheap Dean Z. Can someone identify it please?
by TomaS on Sat Oct 21, 2006 3:36 pm
I found this super cheap Z.. The dude has no idea of its value. But is it worth it? Heres the pics or it :
Does anyone know the name of the guitar show that is being held in Birmingham very early November......... you know the one where 'Batio' goes and plugs Dean.
I went a couple of years ago and I threw my ticket away and I cant remember what its called so I can buy tickets again.
Anyone know what its called?
Does any play or has played the seymour duncan pearly gates? (SH-PG1b)
Anyone got any opinions on it?
Got a new tat today. I brought my friend the idea and let him go nuts with it. This one is all freehand. The new one and the one below it are both from the same guy and they are both coverups!!!! He is awesome!
And here is it with the one below it. He did that one too.

Well guys... I'm gettin' my first Dean...
Let's see... it's been over a year since I listened to Pantera and fell in love with what came to be my most favorite band ever, and so for almost that same amount of time I've wanted a Dean. I went to my local music store and tried a bunch of'em out and GOD they're so... SO amazing. I settled on the 79 trans braziliaburst I saw in the catalogue at the store. From what I can tell it looks pretty much exactly the same as this:
http://www.carlinoguitars.com/images/Picture_5260.jpg
I'll be upgrading her real good though. I'll be putting a Dimarxio X2N in the bridge and a Super 2 in the neck, and on top of that a nice BLACK original floyd rose trem. *sigh* unfortunately, I have to wait until I can sell my epiphone les paul before I get the thing and that could take a while. And now I'm not gonna be able to sleep cause I'll be way too excited about this.
Message about Cemetery Gatez
by Malek on Sun Oct 22, 2006 3:55 pm
I posted a while back about a show my band Malek was going to do with Pantera tribute band Cemetery Gatez at The Machine Shop and about how I was geeked to do it. Well I had a reason to be geeked. They put on one of the most entertaining shows I've been to in a while and to boot were all extremely nice guys. They let myself and my vocalist come up and do "Walk" with them and even allowed me to do part of the solo. Not too mention they nailed every Pantera song under the sun to a T. After their show was done the drummer and vocalist both got CDs of ours and welcomed us to play another show in the near future in another part of Michigan. If these guys are gonna hit near you I would highly suggest being there. They know what they are doing and will put on a great show.
can anyone tell me anything about this, it can't be a real Gibson, but im curious as to who made it because i would like to buy it for another paint project, and was wondeing if has decent quality wood.

I am gonna buy me a new guitar when I get the money and get back into music full on.I have gone crazy not being able to play these past few months. Those of you who haven't played for a period of time know what I am sayin.
Well I am back and just wanted to say hey.
Anyone know when the Vendetta 4F will be avalible for purchase?
How much will it cost?
Will it have an original floyd or a licensed floyd?

Pretty nice Deal on B-Stock EVO SS
I'm not at all associated with the seller or in any way benefit from the sale of this axe. Although, I have corresponded with him several times and he has always been courteous and helpful.
This is a listing for a EVO Special Select quilt top. Not the prettiest top and it's a B stock with a couple of dings that are noticeable but not too terribly bad. Seems like a nice deal for somebody looking for a real nice quality instrument for a good deal if perfect cosmetics arent a necessity. Maybe a beginner, or a player low on cash looking to upgrade or try a Dean to see what they have to offer. Miles better than buying some starter kit. Under 300 bucks, shipped and with BIN. 30 bucks less if only you bid on it.
Just think of me as the public service guy doing my good deed for the day
Seriously, thought maybe it would help somebody out.

by kevphol on Mon Oct 23, 2006 1:55 pm
We put together a pumpkin patch in a field next to our church every year and Sat. we had an auto show and a lot of activities, including live music from me and some other guys from the church. The highlight (especially for me!) was my 9 year old son playing with us on "Werewolves of London". He played the Hollywood Bel Aire that I pieced together for him a while back and he played a little lead line throughout the song that I taught him just the night before!
It was way cool jamming with my son! And I think he got a spark out of it!
The gig went so well that we were invited back this coming Sunday night to play our big Fall Festival!
Dad and the little Rocker jamming on Werewolves!

KUSTOM DUAL 35DFX question
Is the KUSTOM DUAL 35DFX a tube amp?
My guitar teacher has a 30 (or 35) watt kustom amp and its a tube amp. The things sounds pretty sweet and I am interested in getting one. His is an older one so are the new ones still tube? or did they turn SS?
Any opinions on the amp? The one my teacher has sounds awsome, but I haven't played/heard the new ones.
I asked him if he would sell it to me (Sent email, no reply yet).
I have a Peavey XXL and I kinda want a little amp I can move around and stuff so I thought I would get a tube amp. I don't want to buy a new one if they are SS.

THRASH METAL HEROES UNMASKED
RSPCA Guerrilla Raid On Gorillas
Thrash Metal chart toppers Sonic Destruction are at the centre of an
animal cruelty row following a raid on a recording session by RSPCA
inspectors. The inspectors became interested in the band when an RSPCA
member, Sid Jones, overheard his son playing their 'Barf Out Your Brains'
album.
Sid Jones told us, 'I was sure I could hear the distress call of a
grizzly bear somewhere in the general racket that my son calls music.
When my son mentioned that the band record nearby I organised a raid.'
The raid was planned to coincide with the recording of a single, 'Bog
Eyes And Dandruff', a follow-up to the EP 'Eaten By A Combine' which
topped the indie charts for over a month.
RSCPA men burst into the studio as soon as they heard the first grunt and
crashing chord. What they saw horrified them. Sid Jones takes up the
story. 'We thought they just used a bear to add to the vocals. When we
got in that studio we saw the full scale of the problem. There were three
gorilla's and a chimp tied down to the floor and playing musical instru-
ments. One gorilla had his feet glued to his drum pedals. The place
stank. I don't think the place had been cleaned out for weeks.'
The RSPCA inspectors discovered Dick Devious the band's producer sitting
in the soundproof control room wearing a gasmask to protect him from the
stench. On the mixing desk in front of him lay large quantities of
amphetimine sulphate and several cans full of mixed and edited master
tapes.
It was only when the RSPCA summoned the police that the full story
emerged. Faced with a charge of possessing over a pound of 'Speed' Devious
broke down and confessed that the drugs were not for his use.
Devious named Bob Dog, supremo of Sore Ball records, as the man behind
a scheme to pump the animals full of hard drugs and record them as they
attacked musical instruments in a chemically induced frenzy.
Devious also revealed that the four animals discovered by the RSPCA
had been responsible for nearly all the products released by bands like
Napalm Death, Bolt Thrower and Unseen Terror.
The blubbering producer confirmed the RSPCA theory about a bear but
revealed the animal had been released from the studio following 'Musical
differences' resulting from it's accidental playing of a proper chord on
the guitar. 'That's when we got the chimp in,' mumbled Devious.
With Devious, Dog and a couple of recording engineers removed to police
cells, attempts were made to release the animals. At this point the
animal inspectors encountered problems as the rockin' primates insisted
on hauling themselves back into the studio for further performances.
In one final speed fuelled frenzy the animals cut 'Fascist Inspectors
Piss Off' and 'Sexy Orang Baby Go Down On Me'. With the band now returned
to their respective zoos, the royalties from their single will pay for
their upkeep.

Help.........Any B-52 users out there?
by bsmith on Wed Oct 25, 2006 9:50 pm
I've got a B-52 AT212 and the two overdrive channels don't seem to have very much power. I have a DigiTech GNX3 that I run through the clean channel and I get some serious volume that way but I can't understand why the Overdrive channels are lacking. Even when I take the DigiTech out, the clean channel seems to have 2 or 3 times as much power as either of the overdrive ones.
Is there something I need to do to get more out of the overdrive channels? Shouldn't they have the same amount of power as the clean channel?

Replacing a licensed floyd with an original
Hi guys. I'm gettin a 79 MLF real soon and I'm totally upgrading everything on her, I just wanted to know if I could use the huge springs in the back from the licensed rose to accommodate the original rose. Reason being is that I imagine it'd be a helluva lot easier to find JUST the bridge itself one bay than the whole shabang.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
ill apologize ub the monring
Does anybody know if it's true that both Matt and Corey from Trivium are getting there own signiture guitars?
And which is better? Dean 79 MLF or Dean razorback two-tone?
Another Bel Aire, Hollywood style...
There's not a single mark on it regarding origin, but she is CLEAN and in incredible shape. A little polish, new strings, 3 hex wrenches, 2 screwdrivers, a lot of patience and 2 hours later... this thing ROCKS. The Accutune bridge works great, and it locks down in-tune solid. It will need a fret dressing and polish at some point, but no major buzz or loss of action. The sustain is amazing...
Check it out...
Someone sent this to my e-mail. They must have taken it last week at Sunday's show. I think it is pretty cool. I just wish it was a little clearer.

Driskill appreciation thread

Anyone here that knows who Joe Driskill is will appreciate this thread. Check out some of the most current batch of guitars he has coming out. Man, I'd love to get one...2+ year wait right now.
His used guitars are going for as much, or more than new custom orders.

Just trying to get opinions on my band's tunes. The recordings were done at home and are not spectacular, but get the point across. Let me know what you think!

a sweet rust.
someone said hes only 14 on one of the comments. hes reeeely good
What makes USA deans so good? I mean is something like the rust razorback or one like matt heafys really worth that much??
Also is the rust razorback limited? Like will they be around for a couple years? (new of course)
Electro Harmonix Frequency Analyzer
So. I'm in a progressive rock/experimental band and was looking at the Moog Ring Modulator, but that thing has a rather large price tag. So, I was wondering about this one. How good is it? How does it compare to the Moog?
Saturday I'm moving from Missouri to Texas.Should I loosen the strings on my guitars before they go on the truck,or will it be okay to transport the guitars as is?I've heard that a shock to a guitar with the neck under tension can damage it.
I wanna get a neck and get a "62 Tone Just" Fret Job on it, Cant seem to find anyone thats willing to do it, anyone know anyone that specializes in it.
If ya dont know what im talking about

Might get something like this done after my caddy!
I'm still working on this room, and arrangement.
I was talking to a dude last night from the big GC in Manhatten and he told me they can get any import Dean but no USAs. While I will continue to deal with the forum dealers I think that its a great business decision for Dean to get more of the guitars out to people who dont know about them and dont have access to the great guys on our forum. Just thought it was an interesting bit of info.
Help with a vintage MXR 10-band EQ ! :D
I've recently won an old vintage
MXR 10band EQ pedal on eBay, but I
need to ask a few questions.
Since I'm living in Sweden and the
pedal is american, with an american
powercord ... is it possible to run it
with the swedish 220-230V electricity system?
Looking at the back of the pedal I find:
-----------------------
Power:
105-125'volts AC, 50-60 Hz, 10 ma, 1.2W
210-250'volts AC, 50-60 Hz, 10 ma, 2.3W
-----------------------
Does this mean that I actually can run
the pedal in swedens electricity system?
And if that's possible, would it be possible
to change the american plug(which you plug
into the wall socket) to one that meets the
swedish standards?
If that's not possible ... could I bypass
the powercord and have it run on batteries
or even an AC adapter? I suspect that the
incoming voltage gets converted to lower
figures, like 9V?
I'd really like an answer ASAP as I'd like
to plug it in and try it
Thank you for your time.

Hey guys, here's the latest thing I worked on over the summer with some friends of mine. I "did" submit for the DOA CD but the quality was defintely horrible compared to the rest of you guys so Brian decided not to put it on this years. So....if we can record it better as well as clean it up some it'll be on next year's possible. We wanted to do some more but time kept us from that so enjoy what we have. Be warned the quality isn't great!!! Let me know what you think.
Thanks kevphol for hosting it for me

I'm piecing together a Dean Vendetta body/EVO neck and...
was needing some input from you guys. I know for sure I want a Bill Lawrence L500L or XL bridge pup. I am torn between the L and the XL. I can't for the life of me decide which one. My current setup is a little weak but I do plan on getting a marshall 120w head to go with my marshall 4 x 12 cab. The amp I am pushing the cab is only 75w, but it is a Fender and sounds really good. I don't plan on touring hard or playing huge crowds so I am leaning to the L500L. My main question is...will the L500XL be to hot even if I upgrade to a 120wMarshall head.
Also, give me some advice on what neck humbucker would go with the Bill Lawrence. The body of the guitar I'm piecing together is dual humbucker so I need some choices. The one I have in mind is a Seymour SH-1 '59. The inspiration for the building of this guitar is all Dime and I have been reading that Dime actually used the SH-1 '59 with the L500L/XL at one point early in his career. If someone can actually confirm that Dime did indeed use this setup in Pantera, I doubt I will change my mind, but all suggestion's are welcome.
im a bit confussed becouse theres this guitar shop near me and the have now started to stock deans.
I have been saving for a while and i have £1000
what should i choose for sound and quality
a explosion razorback and £200 change or
a dime from hell and a silverburst ml with a fitted dimebucker
didn't know about this guy Brett Garsed before - incredible playing technique and great soloing there !!!

Anyone know of a good quality Strat copy but a hardtail . There are boatloads of decent to good, inexpensive strat copies with trems of all different qualitys. Also found some crappy strat hardtail copies. But I have not been able to find a worthwhile, inexpensive strat hardtail copy. Preferably in the 300 - 400 dollar range, new, but the lower the better. And not a strat "like" body like the Dean Hardtail for example. And the Squier bullets won;t cut it. Looking for a good, true strat "copy", 3 pups, all single coils or maybe a couple singles and a humbucker, 6 in-line tuners, blah-blah ... im sure y'all get the idea.
Thanks
Just sitting here listening to some Rush and am just really admiring how fantastic a player Alex really is. Keep your Dime and trivium. I'll just sit here and enjoy a real talent.

cradle of filth...actually good?
by * on Sat Oct 28, 2006 12:23 pm
you know, i didn't want to give this band a chance for the longest time. but once you get past their image they make some darn good tunes. they have some KILLER riffs, and some of the best incorporation of keys in a metal band i've seen in a long long time. not to mention phenominal drumming.
now you may say "that's not real black metal" and you may be right. but they have more talent in that band than 1000 burzums.
i sugguest you check out the album "midian" and give it an unbiased listen and you may just find yourself a fan by the end of the record.
SHOW ME YOUR HARDTAILS!!!
im looking to buy a hardtail standard for my birthday in black, my local shop is cutting me a deal
i just wanted to see a few pics of yours, so post away!!!!
btw, is the neck really chunky? how does it compare to the ML79F necks?
Music Theory
by muckers on Sat Oct 28, 2006 2:00 pm
Does anyone else hate this with a passion?
I mean, I understand knowing SOME theory but there's a limit to what's necessary.
At the minute I'm studying for a music theory exam on Thursday (which I need to take in order to enter for my Grade 7 practical exam) and dear God...it makes you want to kill yourself.
Transposition, intervals, cadences, all these Latin/Italian/French performance directions, key signatures, scales, enharmonic equivalents....ARGH!
I don't need to know all this...
Bah.

how many of you have these? if so, what are your settings, im tryin to find some new sounds from it, and wonderin how you guys got it set
Six String Tribute magazine!
by dmsdj5 on Sat Oct 28, 2006 2:49 pm
I was at a local music store yesterday getting a Seymour Duncan '59 installed in my razorback's neck, waiting for 20 minutes as he performs surgery on my baby.I was looking around, and I saw that there was a Six String Tribute magazine on the shelves! Inside was full of pictures of the Razorback being constructed for the first time,MORE shots of Dime's layouts for colors he wanted, and many NAMM pics.It was very cool.It was about 30-40 pages, and was only $5.I highly recomend picking it up if you get the chance.

A friend turned me on to this band called Jaded. all female rockers in the style of KISS. Yeah it's Glam, but hey they can actually play thier instruments and the guitarist can solo pretty good. Besides Id party with them they arent to shabby in the looks depoartment LMAO!
Check em out:

I have a weird problem with my 95 Dean Tropical ML. The E and A strings seem more "dead" then the others. They still play and everything but they dont sustain as long as the other strings nor do they sound as good and clear. My power chords don't really sound completely in tune because of it i've tryed tweaking all the tuners until perfectly in tune but chords still sound sour. They are set down lower then the rest of the strings also, if that has anything to do with it.
Which guitar would you buy for $600?
Out of all the guitars in the world which one would you buy for $600 that had a maple fretboard?

Anyone have any experience with these? Thinking about buying one and slapping it into one of my ML's. Bet you can do some crazy sh!t with it.
Ok I've been playing for 2 years, and I know all about keys and stuff, but I'm still pretty far from being any kind of theory pro. Now, i fell in love with the harmonic minor scale but I don't quite know how to use it. Like.. I know if you wanted to do a lead in the dorian scale over something in C major, you'd use D dorian. So... to use the harmonic minor, would you just start it from the relative minor of whatever key you're in?
Oh, and is that also how you use the minor pentatonic? And just to clarify here I know that sticking to rules like this is boring, I just want to know wtf I'm doing before I start breaking those rules.
got board, soltero clock = huge a$$ porn
looks alot better in person , as you know red doesn't pickup well on digital cameras .
