So our singer walked out on us , we had two gigs coming up in march and he just left, we were even entering for battle of the bands, our hopes were way up and now there way down again, we dont know what to do, there are no singers in our area we know!!! He said he didnt enjoy singing any more, and we have all been working so hard in the last few months, seems like a waste of time know
By any chance is there any people on this board who know any good singers looking for a band in Stirling Scotland?, I know theres a few people from Scotland here
A note from Becky Lawrence...
by Faust on Wed Feb 01, 2006 8:58 pm
I sent an e-mail to check the shipping price for some 500XL's and this is what I got back! I just love Bill and Becky, not only for their great pickups but also for being so nice!
Hi, Ian. The total cost for three zebra black/cream L-500XL's,
including US S/H, is still only $157.50. Here's the link to our
ordering page when ready -
http://www.billlawrence.com/Pages/Ordering.htm
I think you're "the" Ian from the Dean forum -- aka Hans aka Faust. I
sure do miss Hans in the cute uniform. He was definitely a chick
magnet.
Btw, Bill actually laughed out loud when he read "Wurstkotzenhauser".
It takes something really funny to make Bill laugh! He translated it
for
me and proceeded to tell me of other really strange German names,
though
known were as off the wall as Wurstkotzenhauser. It's a winner.
I hope you ARE the Ian from the Dean Forum!
Any more information needed, just let me know
Best regards,
Becky
My order is in! Some Deans are going to get upgraded!

i only got three min. left of PTI too, today is about to get boring fast
I'm looking to get some EMGs, once I get the money, for my new guitar...
I was wondering how Dimebags sound is like....generated.....like if you listen to the sound of the intro to Cowboys from Hell, that just....raw type sound.....how do they get that? I love that type of sound.
where has he been ? I know what happened and all but have any of you guys talked to him or heard from him ?
FBD question
by Levy on Thu Feb 02, 2006 4:38 am
Hey, is the FBD a korean made?
thx
A few pics from the Coffee House
So my "band" played a coffee house at this all girls school 2 blocks from my school, and we had a kid take pictures. Action shots and all make them kind of blurry, but I thought I would share, put a face to the name (not that I post all that often anyway lol).
A few things to point out. The lead guitarist/singer is playing an epi V, with no neck pickup, and masking tape he put on in Subway while eating dinner a few hours before we played. It looked like poo, but he enjoyed himself.
Hard to see in the pics, but the drummer is actually wearing a t-shirt with a picture of himself when he was little, and it says "Happy Birthday Louis"
I got suprisingly few comments about the FBD, but whatever. The set itself was interesting with 1 practice, and Ace of Spades didnt go as well as we would have liked (crappy house amps combined with having only heard the song 3 times before playing it). Fun time though. We totally owned the emo bands
Herc Fede Satriani Donnie Hunt Pics, ETC.
Anyone like Ibanez? Here is my JS threebees. I hope you all like them. I only have afew DEANs but I wanted to share these with Yall.

Recent metal acquisitions....the CD Haul Thread
Sacrifice - Forward to Termination (Marquee Records reissue)
Any fans of this classic thrash band should pick up the Marquee Records re-issues. This is the 2nd one. It has 2 CD's....all the tunes remastered and tons of demo and live goodies. 40+ tunes on the 2 discs, extra artwork and a killer booklet. Great stuff.
Canvas Solaris - Penumbrum Diffuse
Ok, this one is a bit all over the place. I had originally read about this band as being a death metal band that dropped the vox and added some prog/rock into the mix. This is a very cool CD. Think Death's Sound of Perseverance minus the vocals mixed in with some Dream Theater and some Rush. This band has some very well structured songs and is a great CD to listen to.
Saint Vitus - Born Too Late / Thirsty and Miserable
A little Black Sabbath worship never hurt anyone. Along with Candlemass this band took Sabbath to a new level and kept their tunes Heavy, doomy and all with decent vocals. Plus Wino used to play Deans....so why not grab one of their CD's?
Manilla Road - Crystal Logic
I've been getting into this band quite a bit lately. I remember Spacebeer posting about them quite some time ago, but for some reason I never gave them a listen. Then to find out they've been putting out records since 1980......damn! Quite a back catalogue. They bill themselves as the Kings of Epic Metal. Not a bad way to describe them. They remind me of a great mixing of thrash and power metal. They have a very organic production that people that are used to the current digital era will probably not enjoy. The vox may thow people off (hard to describe) but then again, I didn't like Ride the Lightning, Don't Break the Oath and Hell Awaits the 1st time I heard the vocals either. Now these are classics that I rank up as some of the top metal records of all time.
Coroner - No More Color
A Swiss classic from 1989 has been rereleased. Celtic Frost weren't the only band that hailed from Switzerland. Amazing trio that really rank among the best thrash bands of all time. Great poduction, song writing and very fitting vocals. This record is very heavy and very clear, especially considering the music and the time it was created. I need to replace more of my old cassettes and CDR's from their catalogue being released again.
Tankard - Zombie Attack/Chemical Invasion
More re-released goodies to be had. I'm sure Spacebeer can write a uch better review for these two than I ever could. I'm just glad that they are being made available again and will snag them all up as they come out. Killer beer metal.....if only they were Captain Morgan Metal.....then they would have the top spot in the metal world
Hammers of Misfortune - Bastard
Here is a side project of Mike Scalzi from the Lord Weird Slough Feg. Hammers are an odd band to pin point. They have both male and female vox, heavy, fast, and accoustic/stringy songs. Their other release The Augest Engine is a bit more polished and almost a pure rock record. This tune has more faster tunes and some heavier vocals as well. It's a fun record, but then again I really like the kind of music Scalzi is putting out. Top notch stuff.
Brocas Helm - Defender of the Crown
I picked this up after hearing that this band is one of the major influences on Scalzi's Lord Weird Slough Feg band I can hear it, they have very similar guitar melodies and off timings. Think Maiden meets beer drinking songs meets a power trio. This is a recent record, but has an 80's organic production. No clickie annoying drums or wall of guitars. It is good stuff though. I know it's here to stay, but I really dislike most of today's bands' productions. This is another good throw back to the glory days of metal. The most distrubing part of the band is that they appear to be brothers of people in the music/entertainment industry.
From left to right - Jimmy Travolta, Biker from the Village People, Dan Grohl
ok, I made them up, still cracked me up though

Dave rocks the house (of God)
I play at our church every week and Stan (our music leader) posted last Sunday's service on the website. This clip is a song titled "You are God". Thanks to Chris (BLOODROOT) for editing the MP3. The clip starts with a short segment during the "welcome" when everyone shakes hands with those around them. I left that in because I was noodling around on a riff. I was amazed at how cool the tone sounds. This was recorded through the board. I use a BOSS GT-6. Stan lets me take a lead now and then and I have the freedom to fill whenever I want. Hope you enjoy it!

Mesa/Boogie .50 Cal + Up and Running
i finally got my cab today, played it for about 3hrs straight, skipped class, and it was damn worth it
This amp may look like its been through war, but it frippin rips.
You can easily see right away where Pepper's tone comes from. been jamming along to COC and Down almost all day, sounds awesome. Great rich bottom end, really warm. The highs are just as great. god i love this amp. Pretty damn versitle amp, and extremely easy to use. with some quick minor tweaking, i've gone from crystal clear cleans, straight to some Stranglehold classic rock tone, to some southernfried metal like the COC/Down tone, to some Machine Headesque metal. This ugly bastard does it all. I am incredibly pleased with this amp/cab (50 cal+ & 2x12 w/ vin 30 and 70th anniv. 30's) Cant wait to tweak some more and start putting some pedals with it....sucks tho i got a 5 page paper due tomorrow so ill have to take a break for a little while (its on Apocolypse Now Redux tho, so its not too bad)
i also want to thank all of you who responded to my prior thread on whether or not i should've picked up this amp, i am beyond pleased
mucho porn of the amp, cab, and both guitars im using it with to come this weekend (gotta borrow my friends camera)

DEAN OWNERS OF ALBERTA -- CALGARY CHAPTER
I think there's a few people on this forum from Calgary and Alberta so why don't we get together? What do you think?
Have you spent all your Ralph bucks yet??
KUDOS to DEAN, DCG & HOG Customer Service
Major KUDOS to DEAN, Drum City Guitarland and House of Guitars (Houston)
for their exceptional customer service!
I just have to share this with yous guys!
I had a minor issue with the pups in my new TC Caddy3. So I contacted
my dealer - Jason at Drum City Guitarland and he contacts Dean. Next
thing I know, Jason tells me Dean will be sending me 3 new pups!
I get the pups and contact Tommy at Dean Customer Service. He calls
my friendly neighborhood Authorized Dean Dealer - HOUSE OF GUITARS
and arranges for them to switch out my pups and set up my baby at no
charge to me!
HOUSE OF GUITARS just recently became a authorized DEAN dealer.
They treated me great and turned around my Caddy in less than 2 hours!
The pups are working perfectly, and the set up was great! I'm definitely
gonna give them the business! In a good way, of course
Yet again, Dean Customer Service blows me away!

Anyone ever seen Moby Grape Live???
by tnvol on Fri Feb 03, 2006 4:06 pm
Have any of you old schoolers ever seen Moby Grape live? I was listening to them last night and although I have always liked them I once again realized what a killer band they were. Those dudes played their asses off and wrote great songs!
VISITORs at the disturbed concert last night
Hey all, i just thought i'd share this with everyone, last night i went to the disturbed concert at the nokia, I live in Dallas/Fort Worth so i was naturally thinking that Disturbed was going to have to play walk sometime during their show because, come on, it's Dallas. They went through the first part of their show, which by the way was awesome, and then dave mentions having i think it wus drowning pools singer in the crowd. And then he also says that they have some other very special guests, but he wouldn't let us know till later.
Immediately i started thinking... could vinnie or rita or someone be visiting us tonight?? i thought it had to be since Vinnie is one of Mike's(disturbed's drummer) favorite drummers.
Sure enough, later on in the set, while they're playing one of their songs, i look behind mikey's drum kit. My view was blocked but i caught a glimpse of someone wearing a pair of batting gloves, then he moved forward a lil bit, AND SURE ENOUGH IT'S VINNIE PAUL ABBOT, by this time i'm histerical, im telling everyone around me that vinnie's getting ready back there. And then David introduces him and they go straight in to walk
IT WAS AWESOME, everyone in the place went nuts. They went more wild and got louder for walk than any other song disturbed played.. IT was awesome, Vinnie played it like he wus still on tour with PanterA, Later on in the song Pat Lachman came out and sang the chorus with everyone, it wus great. Of course Dan played the solo, heh, he kinda messed that up, but it still sounded great, just wasn't as clean as dime would play it...
neway, i just wanted to share this with everyone, I wus just too excited to keep this to myself, heh. That was probably the closest I could come to seeing PanterA in concert.
O and on top of seeing disturbed with Vinnie I got my first dean yesterday, my FBD came, it was probably one of the best days of my life, heh. Later guys. sorry the post was so long

The Marine
by Bjoddn on Fri Feb 03, 2006 10:49 pm
The Marine
A Marine squad was marching north of Basra when they came upon an Iraqi terrorist, badly injured and unconscious.
On the opposite side of the road was an American Marine in a similar but less serious state. The Marine was conscious and alert and as first aid was given to both men, the squad leader asked the injured Marine what had happened.
The Marine reported, "I was heavily armed and moving north along the highway here, and coming south was a heavily armed insurgent. We saw each other and both took cover in the ditches along the road.
"I yelled to him that Saddam Hussein is a miserable, lowlife scumbag, and he yelled back that Senator Ted Kennedy is a good-for-nothing, fat, left-wing liberal drunk.
So I said that Osama Bin Laden dresses and acts like a frigid, mean spirited woman!" He retaliated by yelling, "Oh yeah? Well so does Hillary Clinton!"
"And, there we! were, standing in the middle of the road, shaking hands, when a truck hit us.

Disturbed in Dallas
by emunder on Sat Feb 04, 2006 5:31 am
Man, I went to the Disturbed show last night here in Dallas and it was killer! CJ from Drowning Pool was sitting a few feet away from us and towards the end of the show Vinnie Paul came on stage and sat in on drums while they played Walk. Good to see Vinnie up there playing and it looked like he was really having a good time. Made the crowd go frippin crazy and it was just great to hear some of Pantera's music live again! I think they got the most applause from that song out of everything they played. Dan had a real hard time with the solo though. LOL!! Anyway, just thought I would share that.
Deans in Australia
by Sharky on Sat Feb 04, 2006 7:03 am
i was searching the Australian ebay for some Dean guitars and stumbled upon this store...i found these prices highly laughable.
http://stores.ebay.com.au/MEDIA-REALM <-- thats the owners ebay store.
here are some i found a bit too ridiculous:
Dean VX: AU$649 --> US$486 (you could get a Dean V 79 for that price!
Dean From Hell Baby: AU$599 --> US$448 (major ripoff considering its a BABY model!)
Dean FBD: AU$2000 --> US$1500 (you could get a razorback and some nice goodies for that price!)
[rant] i mean this is ludacris, i know australia dealers have to jack up the price because it cost them a fortune to import the guitars...its just a pity that australian dean players dont have a local dean dealer that is able to sell those guitars at a fair price. i know getting deans shipped from one of the dealers on this forum is hassle free, but its just the freedom to walk into a local store, theres a dean you want at a great price and you get it right there and then without waiting 6-10days for it to be shipped (with all the risk of it getting wrecked in the process and ricidulous shipping prices if you want a case aswell!)
i know other countries like Canada and various countries located throughout asia and europe have this same problem. i know i sound like a b!tch but i think its something that has to be addressed.[/rant]
EBAY being sued by TIFFANY
I heard it on CNN. I guess a lot of people are sellling fake Tiffany jewellery on EBAY and calling it real. Is that new? (sarcasme)
It might help to stop the flow of Chinese counterfeit guitars as well.
EBAY is sure not helpfull for that kind of thing. Early December, I contacted them to tell them about that guy trying to scam me. Their response was:" PROCEED WITH CAUTION".!!!!!!!
I played with the guy for a while, sent him to Western Union office a couple times for nothing than he relisted. Ebay finally closed him down before the end of the auction.
Questions for the "in the know" people...
1: Collector Editions Hardtail, is that it? will there be anymore made? Mine is #31/150 Faded Denim. That means #31 of the first 150 Faded Denim made, right?
<-------------------
2: Any words, rumours, whispers on Dean putting Floyds on the Black Gold Serie guitars?
3: I saw a pic on this forum of a V, blue flames, mahogany brown back. I am sure it was a newer one but I don't know what model. Does it ring a bell? The Time Capsule on the Dean website looks ike it. Is that it? ? Is that the only Blue flame V? Does all the TC have the V neck? I like the V neck but my left hand doesn't.
I got a White "79 V (Dimebucker, "59) not long ago and now I am a V (pointy) addict.
Thank you in advance for your answers

Truss Rod Protruding From Headstock. Fix Myself? (PICS)
I just bought me a Dean Cadillac (used obviously), and when it arrived in the mail I noticed the truss rod cover was convexed outward and if you look at the headstock from the side you can see the tip of the truss rod underneath. From asking around, I quickly discovered that this was *NOT* normal. Someone suggested that the truss rod was entirely disconnected from the body of the guitar and that, if I had patience, I could re-screw it in but I should be very careful. Anyhow here are pics to describe what I am talking about:
http://zachjohnston.com/assets/images/misc/truss1.jpg
http://zachjohnston.com/assets/images/misc/truss2.jpg
If you look closely in the second picture you can cleary see the truss rod protruding ever so slightly. Is this something that I can fix myself or should I just take it in? Will it be an expensive repair? Any help is appreciated.
[EDIT]
Here are some pics with the cover off:
http://zachjohnston.com/assets/images/misc/truss3.jpg
http://zachjohnston.com/assets/images/misc/truss4.jpg
http://zachjohnston.com/assets/images/misc/truss5.jpg
I wonder why the finished is chipped like that. Anyway, you can see that the tip of the truss rod is protruding about 1/8th of an inch or so.
How do you convert a valve record player in to a guitar amp?
I've got a 60s valve record player with a sweet sounding amp. Someone told me it would be pretty straight forward to convert it into a small guitar practice amp. But I'm not sure how to convert the input stage. Would it work if I connected the wires from the stylus to a female guitar jack.
Anyone done it before?
Know of any build valve guitar amp web sites?
I suck (that seems to be the popular opinion)
I play in a band With 2 other guys at the moment. Later in the post i will put the link to our myspace...the recording is horrible because we don't have a digital recorded nor the money to get one (concidering the fact that i am 14). There is no bass on the recording and yes i know i made mistakes but if i could get some feedback on how to make this better it would be much appreciated. Ignore the horrible quality please.
www.myspace.com/rithixband
P.S.-I have been playing for 3 years and i used to take lessons but my guitar teacher was into jazz so i never really took a true interest in playing heavier things in the beginning. And then he died and i stopped for half a year so truly it has been 2 and a half.
HEX PICKUP REVIEW WITH **WARNING** HUGE PORN

FIRST OFF. EVERYONE KNOWS "I HATE EVERYTHING" HAHAH
WITH THAT BEING SAID HERE'S MY IN DEPTH REVEIW
I GET THE BOX TODAY. TOOK ABOUT 4 DAYS TO GET HERE. NOT BAD. PACKED IN A NICE SHIPPING BOX WITH BUBBLE WRAP. NICELY DONE. LOOKING AT THEM THEY APPEAR TO BE A CROSS BETWEEN DUNCANS AND DIMARZIOS. IM SURE THEY ARE JUST SOME JAP COPIES. THEY COPY EVERYTHING WE DO. THE METAL PLATES ARE BASICALLY THE SAME AS DUNCANS WITH ALL THE HOLES ON THE BOTTOM FOR THE SCREWS FOR THE POLES TO GO THROUGH BUT ON TOP THEY HAVE THE HEX SCREWS LIKE DIMARZIOS. ALSO , THE PICKUPS ARE DEFINATELY BRAND NEW. STILL HAD THE CELLOFANE PLASTIC STICKER TAPE ON THEM. WIRES ARE PRE STRIPPED FOR YOU AND THE RED AND WHITE WIRE WERE ALREADY TWISTED TOGETHER SO YOU DONT WIRE THEM INCORRECTLY. NICE !!! SEEMS LIKE ONE COMPANY YOU TWIST THESE TWO AND TAPE THEM OFF , OTHERS YOU DO DIFFERENT COLORS . SO THAT WAS NICE NOT TO HAVE TO WIRE IT A COUPLE TIME TO FIGURE OUT WHICH WAS CORRECT. I GOTTA SAY. THE PLASTIC PICKUP RINGS WERE ALMOST DEAD RINGERS FOR THE DEAN RINGS. THE HOLES LINE UP JUST ABOUT, MAYBE A MILLIMETER OFF BUT THEY ARE LIKE A HAPPY MEDIUM BETWEEN STANDARD AND DEAN SIZE SO THEY ARE KINDA UNIVERSAL. AT FIRST I USED THEIR RINGS TO PUT THEM IN TO DEMO BUT AFTER I PUT MY X2N BACK IN I USED BOTH MY DEAN RINGS TO ENSURE PERFECT FIT.
HERE THEY ARE IN MY BLACK GOLD ML. SORRY FOR THE HUGE PICTURES. I LEFT THEM LARGE SO YOU CAN SEE THEM BETTER DUE TO MY BAD PHOTO SKILLS AND THAT ANNOYING FLASH MARK.
ALSO BEFORE INSTALLING THEM I DID THE OLD MAGNET TEST. I TOOK A SCREW DRIVER AND TAPPED ON THE POLES TO SEE HOW STRONG THEY WERE. THEY ARE NOT AS STRONG AS AND X2N BUT MORE THAN MY DUNCAN JB. MAYBE ABOUT BETWEEN DUNCAN JB AND DIMARZIO SUPER DISTORTION. SO I FIGURED THAT WAS A PRETTY GOOD INDICATION THAT THEY WONT SUCK AND EXCITEDLY INSTALLED THEM.
OK AFTER I PUT THEM IN PLUGGED INTO MY ENGL POWERBALL
FIRED UP WITH SOME HIGH GAIN OF COUSE.
JUST AS THEY APPEAR.......THEY SOUND !
ID GIVE THEM THE CROSS BETWEEN DUNCAN JB AND DIMARZIO SD. THEY ARE PRETTY GOOD ACTUALLY. MORE POWER THAN A JB AS BRITE AS SD BUT MORE CRUNCH THAN JB AND LESS THAN SD. THEY ARE A LITTLE TO BRITE AND POWERFULL FOR MY LIKEING FOR THE RYTHM PICKUP, EVEN AFTER DUNKING IT DEEP INTO THE GUITAR CAVITY. I AM GOING TO LEAVE ONE IN MY BLACK GOLD RYTHM THOUGH CAUSE IT LOOKS NICE AND WILL DO ALRIGHT I SUPPOSE. IM GOING TO PUT THE OTHER ONE IN MY PHANTOM NOIR ML CUASE THAT BASSWOOD NEEDS A BRITE PUP. THE ONLY BAD THING REALLY ABOUT THESE IS THAT THE WIRE INST REALLY LONG ENOUGH. I LIKE A LITTLE PLAY TO WORK WITH AFTER PULLING THEM THREW. THESE THE WIRES JUST REACH WITH NO EXTRA AT ALL. AFTER DEMOING I PUT MY X2N BACK IN CUASE THAT IS FOR THE SURE MY FAVORITE PICKUP FOR METAL.
HERES THE BLACK GOLD THE WAY IT SITS RIGHT NOW. X2N AND HEX PUP.
SORRY FOR THE HUGE CRAPPY PICTURES AND FINGERPRINTS. I LEFT THE PICS BIG SO YOU CAN SEE REAL GOOD . THAT FLASH IS KILLING THE PICTURES.
BOTTOM LINE.
VERY GOOD PICKUP FOR THE CASH. 2 OF THEM FOR LIKE 38 BUX SHIPPED. ONE RYTHM AND ONE BRIDGE. THEY ARE ACTUALLY THE SAME EXACT PICKUP JUST LABLED AND B FOR BRIDGE AND N FOR NECK. THEY ARE A BIT MICROPHONIC BUT SO ARE MY DUNCAN JB'S. ID SAY THEY ARE PRETTY GOOD PICKUPS. I LIKE NAME BRAND A LITTLE BETTER BUT NOT MUCH. THEY ARE DEFINATELY WAY BETTER THAN STOCK PUPS FOR BRIDGE PICKUPS BUT I LIKE THE DEAN GENERICS FOR RYTHM. IF YOU ARE NOT A METAL PLAYER. THESE PICKUPS ARE REALL REALLY GOOD. MORE POWER THAN PEARLY GATES BUT NOT AS BRITE. MORE POWER THAN DUNCAN JB AND ALMOST THE SAME PICKUP AS A DIMARZIO SUPER DISTORTION WITH A TAD LESS LOWEND AND NOT QUITE POTTED AS WELL. I DONT FEEL LIKE I WASTED MY MONEY BUT ME PERSONALLY. I WONT BUY ANOTHER SET. NOW OTHERS WOULD PROBABLY NOT SEE SOME OF THE IMPERFECTIONS I NOTICE BUT I AM A PICKY BASTARD

hey, i saw a dean FBD at downtown Toronto, and it didnt have the quad sticker, nor it didnt come with the poster. when i asked about it they said that the deans that come to Canada lack the sticker and the poster, which is kind of wierd, and the dimebag headstock logo was just a little blurry, so; is there any way its a fake?
By the way: the guitar's sound and qualitly is amazing!!!

After a year in development, legendary guitarist George Lynch (DOKKEN, LYNCH MOB) is launching a Guitar Dojo — the first-ever in the United States.
Inside a virtual studio, students of the Dojo will receive lesson plans from Sensei Lynch to hone "The Way of the Axe", a method executed over two distinct semesters beginning June 1, 2006.
Registration for Semester 1 has begin. If you are interested in joining the Dojo to work directly under Sensei Lynch, pre-enroll today by sending an e-mail to admissions@georgelynchdojo.com. The Sensei will be responding to each e-mail received.

Tremolo problems. plz help
hey.. i've been having a real problem slapping a new set of strings on my razorback..
i broke a string last week (doin dime squeals) so yesterday i went to slap on a new set of strings. standard size 10's to a 43. and when i was putting the new strings on, i saw that my whammy system was sliding just a bit on my action knobs so i went to adjust it and i pulled my floyd off the springs that were in on the back of the guitar.
OK fine, below 70 IQ type mistake, so i took off the back plate and put the back springs on.
there are 5 steaks from the guitar side, and 5 holes on the bottom of the floyd. I put 1 spring straight from the middle to the middle, and one on either side on the inner steaks to the outmost holes of the floyd. heres a crappy diagram.

neways i went to tune up and when i did, it seems like theres way to much tension and the springs aren't counter-balancing them properly.. the fine tuners which are usually level with the guitar.. are now right up in the air.. and i cant dip my tremolo nearly as far.. i switched the springs so the angle went the other way, and i did all 3 springs straight across too, even worse.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Right now I'm trying to look for an acoustic. I've tried and play the ones at the local shop but they all seem like crap, and was wondering if anybody at suggestions on an acoustic.
I have a Martin but it is a little on the dark side and I'm looking for a brighter sounding guitar.
I don't really have a price range set but I'm not looking at getting too wild on the price, I would appreciate any suggestions. Hoping for a Dean that fits that category but I don't live around any dealers to try them out.
Thanks
Would you actually buy the muddy bullseye?
would you buy a korean model for around the price of an import razorback?
I just ordered a new 1x12 XXX combo from MF (I know...I know..). She should be here by Thursday!
Porn and a review to follow but I'm sure she'll perform just as well as my XXX head.
Some asked me about my Dean Hardtail so I figured I'd try and post my Deans. Enjoy.

I want to go all out and do the backstage package or whatever it's called. Has anybody done this, what's it like? I'll probably have more questions later on but thanks for now.

Someone wants Pittsburg to win
by The Wind on Mon Feb 06, 2006 12:52 am
First they take away a Seattle touchdown on a non-existant pushoff and then they give the steelers one that obviously did NOT cross the plane. Ya gotta wonder what game these officials are watching.
Ive heard people say," oh, that solo is easy for me ive got blah blah centimeter hands" how do i measure mine, as in thumb to pinky or what?
Good Game to Seattle
Congratulations to Pittsburg
and a big FU to the officials.
They should be embarrassed for the way they ran this game.
FEEL THE STEEL!
Congrats to Hines Ward for getting Super Bowl MVP honors (and that nice Escalade.)
And congrats to Bus No. 36 for all the great memories. I'm proud he finally got to win a Super Bowl.
What would you recommend I play? Bass or lead? I've always been able to play lead pretty fluently, but over the past few months, my playing talents have declined dramatically and it's really beginning to piss me off. Our band, at the moment, has a drummer, and two lead guitarists, so i've really started to wonder what I should play.
I'm stuck in a hole on lead and I haven't got any better over the past few months (been playing for three years)...and I practice at least 3 hours a day. And I can play a bass very well (not boasting, but in my opinion, I can.)
Hey guys, need a few minutes of your time....

If you could go HERE and listen thru all four of the tunes, then either post back here, PM me, or leave a message there as to your favorite one, that would be great. I'm working on a short little demo CD, so I'm going to switch them out at least once a week (maybe sooner), and get a feel for what everyone else thinks is good (me? i think they suck, I'm my own worst critic). Thanks a lot guys!

General question about necks ?!
I'm building this guitar in a 25.5 scale.
it's made for 21/22 fret strat necks, but what I wonder
is if I can put a 24fret neck on it, would it work as long as it's
in the same scale as the rest of the guitar ?!
Is Fedex any good?
by ... on Mon Feb 06, 2006 6:10 pm
I see alot about UPS busting up guitars & stuff, is Fedex safer to ship with?
I think it's time for them to hang it up. I used to like the Stones but I don't think they played a single note right during the entire performance. If our band would have played a Stones song that bad, we would have been booed off the stage. Sheesh!
Ebay score! Black Korina/Padouk Strat... Non-Dean Porn
by Faust on Mon Feb 06, 2006 10:05 pm
I picked up this exotic wood Strat from Ebay. It is a Warmoth Black Korina Hardtail Strat body with a solid Padouk neck. The body is finished with clear nitro and the neck is natural and requires no finish. Pickups are Duncan JB and single coils... I plan to replace the JB with a 59 since it overpowers the single coils. The bridge is a Schaller hardtail Strat bridge.
I just got some really great veneer for a project guitar, very nice snag I think, it was a fight at the end but I got it.

what do people on here think of children of bodom? personally they are one of my favorite bands and i absolutely love the guitar. alexi is an insane guitarist. i personally think that the singing sucks and that it would be equally good, if not better, if they left out the singing bc then it wouldnt suck and there would be more time for alexi to shred
dangit where is the search function for this forum...

the Dime-O-Flame.
what spec wise is the diff between it and the FBD
i know about the finish and the binding and the hardware color, tribute crest...
and that it has a Floyd (is it upgraded license like FBD or just a licensed like the 79???)
and Dime Bucker (other pickup is same Dean pickup as fbd right?)
anything else???

Anyone realize if you bend the high E below the nut on these the string gets stuck in one of the frets? Is there a way to fix this, its really not a big problem but just curious thanks tim
Kramer fans... a good laugh for Tuesday!
As you may or may not know... I was a major Kramer nut back in the day. I always peruse various sites looking for one that I never had a chance to own/try out or hoping to find the "Holy Grail" Kramer so speak.
I always wanted an EVH striped USA Baretta. Never was lucky enough to find the right one.
Check out the email I received after a recent inquiry. Give me a break! LOL!

Hi,
Yes this Guitar is available and we have a standing offer of $65,000.00. we want $75,000.00. the guitar comes complete with lots of documentation
pictures picks shirts it really is a great guitar #2 of the first 9 that Eddie used on the 5150 tour.
Thanks Val
I strongly doubt they have that kind of an offer... if they do... a fool and his money will soon be parted!
My response was... "take the $65K and run! Good luck!"
Small student guitar
by ... on Tue Feb 07, 2006 2:17 pm
A friend of mine recently bought a couple really sweet 79 peavey U.S.A. guitars, a T-15, & a T-30. Yesterday we had them out & I was amazed at how small the neck was on these, same # of frets as my Baby ML, but the neck on the peaveys was way shorter, like over 2 in. shorter. I think this would be perfect for my girl to play, since her hands are smaller. I wonder if Dean makes any smaller scaled guitars for people with little hands.

I've been tempted by these Schecters for some time. I have an'85 Schecter strat that was my absolute #1 player for years, so I tend to keep an eye on what Schecter is doing. This is a TSH-1 semi-hollow, with a P-90 at the neck and a humbucker at the bridge. It has one master tone and a separate vol for each pickup. So far I've only played it clean and slightly overdriven and it has some sweet vintage tone and blues mojo. Still haven't cranked it yet to see how mean it can get, but I intend to try that soon.
I posted this in the Tech forum too, because I am considering whether to get rid of the trapeze stop tail and do a LP style stop, or possibly drill it for string through. (The body is solid all the way back behind the bridge.) I have to make sure its a keeper first though (and it doesn't help that Jaxx is pushing for another special run Z )
Check this out. (Non guitar related)

That stupid Conservation International group found out where I got all my MOVES for seducing the ladies... from the Golden-fronted Bowerbird's bachelor pad :
" Bachelor pad : The scientists also took the first photos of the Golden-fronted Bowerbird displaying its bachelor pad to females as part of a mating ritual. The pad, known as a bower, is a tower of twigs and other forest materials. The bowerbird was hanging up blue forest berries to attract females.

Battle of the bands cover song suggestions/what have I done!
Ok, so I'm playing battle of the Bands at my school and I was wandering if anyone has good suggestions for 1 cover song. Something that will show off my guitar playing, but not be too hard on the bass and drums.....Something Metal
Honestly I dont even know the skill level of the bassist and drummer. I havnt even met them. I was kinda pulled into this band....my friend plays guitar and sings and he recently came to my house to hear me play for the first time, and he assumed that I wanted to be in his band, so he kicked out his crappy lead player, and put me in his place. WTF!
So he came to school today and told me that he was going to sign us up for battle of the bands tomorrow. I said "Whoa, well I dont know if I wanna be in your band" He was shocked and got kinda sad/depressed looking so I didnt want to hurt his feelings so I said yes.
So we have like 2&1/2 weeks to write an original song for tryouts, not to mention get to know eachother so we can get in sync with eachother... and then about 1 month & 1/2 to write another song and he wants to do 1 cover ...he kinda wants to do ORION by metallica, but that song is kinda boring, I kinda want to do either cowboys from hell-Pantera, or Master of puppets-Metallica, but I dont yet know if these other guys can play that fast....
WHAT HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO!!?
Any suggestions would be nice. Thanks.
Here's the deal-- I ordered a Peavey XXX combo from MF on Sunday, expecting it ship Monday and arrive Thursday. I messed up and entered my school address as my billing address. Because it did not match with my permanent address (the address Visa has) they did not ship. MF called Monday evening to correct the problem and I figured it would ship Tuesday (today) and arrive Friday.
Bad news- it didn't go out. I called customer service and was told it will be out Wednesday. Even worse- it would arrive Monday. I NEED it by Saturday night.
I have looked around the UPS website, but I am not sure if they do Saturday delivery for an additional fee. It states that they do for Next Day Air and Two Day Air but it is not specific for any other shipping methods.
Anyone know if I can get Sat. delivery w/ reg. shipping? I asked MF about two day air, but it would cost $172. No way am I doing that.

Ricco works for Carvin???
http://www.carvin.com/products/single.php?ItemNumber=BN&CID=GTR/K
I was looking for guitar necks, and what do I find?
"The neck is supplied with a pre-slotted graphite nut which incorporates Teflon. Carvin's exlusive diamond ground fingerboard is accurate to within one thousandth of an inch for super low string action. Hard alloy precision medium jumbo frets are .103 wide and .048 tall. Drilled to accept all popular tuners including Carvin or Sperzels."
I could not, however, find out whether the neck was bolt-on or bolt-in .
A common excerpt from a typical sales ad for a guitar...
"Guitar is practically mint except for some minor scratches that will probably buff out"
Why do people incessantly say that! If it's so dagone minor... why don't they get their lazy a$$es off the couch and buff them out!
WTF???!! I think more guitars would sell if people would just buff the damn scratches out already! The buyer would then know whether or not they are permanent.
Am I going a little over board here? LOL!
Ok...before this sounds like an ER rant....
did anyone buy the proto??

The band is called Audio Ninja and currently resides in my basement My son is the drummer and one of the principal song writers as well as their recording engineer.
Go the my website in my sig and click on the tab at the top that says "Local Bands" then click Audio Ninja. They have a nice web site and mp3s of a few songs.
Let me know your honest opinion. I think you can even post on their site in a guest book.
I think they are pretty good, but then I'm related and probably don't count I don't know how exactly to describe them either. The girl that sings is trained in jazz and broadway, the guitar player is pure metal, bass player is funk and jazz, they have a dj as well and then my son on drums with rock and jazz influences. Strange mix but seems to work.
Thanks

I got to hang around the set of Reno 911 in Miami for the last two weeks.
I was in about twevle scenes. No speaking parts. I played A guy fishing. The scenes were over several days at a cheap hotel. The running gag was everytime the cops were at this hotel the same guy wearing the same clothes was always in the back ground fishing, day or night.
I also got to "stunt" drive during a golf cart chase scene.
Most of the cast were pretty cool....It's still kinda sureal to be sitting eating lunch next to or at the same table with someone who is suppose to be " someone ".

Playing Bad Music Can Make You A Criminal
Guitarist for Pink, Aguilera Under Arrest Tue Feb 7, 1:20 PM ET
LOS ANGELES - Guitarist Rafael Moreira, who has worked with Pink, Christina Aguilera and others, has been arrested for allegedly beating a man at the music school where he teaches, police said.
Moreira was booked Monday for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon following an altercation at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, police Lt. Russ Wong said.
Wong said he didn't have details of the events that led to Moreira's arrest or the object used in the attack, but a witness said he saw the victim bleeding from the face.
"I just heard a commotion and came outside to see what was going on," said Kevin Campos, a student at the institute.
"I saw a guy with a bloody face. He went into the library to wipe his face, then he came back out and confronted Rafael. That's when I went to get security," Campos said.
A telephone message left after business hours with the school, and an e-mail sent to an address listed on Moreira's Web site, were not immediately returned late Monday.
Moreira, who graduated from the institute in 1998, is listed on its Web site as one of its "success stories." His profile notes he has toured with Pink as well as performed with Aguilera, Marc Anthony, Sisqo and Mya.
Moreira, who was born in the southern Brazil town of Cambara, also fronts his own rock band, Magnetico, and appeared on the CBS

While some have released one or more albums and actually sold a few copies, others have not been so fortunate...
Our very own Brave Dave actually released an album back in the days.

If you're into extreme metal....
What's up guys? I'm not usually into the type of metal that does a lot of the octave "chord" up and down stuff with screaming vocals, but some friends of mine have a band and are releasing a demo with a few songs on it and they asked if I'd redo one of them with a different guitar track on top as a bonus track deal, and I finished the rough draft last night to show them what I had in mind. Basically, if you hear a slayer-type riff, a solo, artificial harmonics, or riffs similar to second one on Master of Puppets, it's me, and the open chugging and octave riffs are the original. I think it turned out pretty cool to incorporate their type of music and mine, so give the ROUGH recording a listen if you'd like. The first link is mine, and the second is the original. The track is called "Buildings Jumping Off of People"....and I have no idea what that means! The band is called Madeline Porter, and if anyone wants a demo or something, I think they're $5 for four songs, just pm me. Hope you dig it. And yes, I know my guitar is too loud and the levels don't match. It's because I recorded about 20 different tracks and had to piece it together and by that time I was ready to stop and finish it, so I didn't take as much time as I probably should have to make it perfect, but after all, this version isn't going on the demo, we still need to professionally record that.

I got two new pickups installed by a friend a while ago and the bridge pickup keeps loosing all its volume, when i feel around the volume pot it just stops making sound, so there is a loose wire i need to solder, but i cant tell which wire it is there all to close to each other?
Any suggestions
thanks
Hokay, so here it goes, You all know about those hex pickups on eBay, well I picked up a set and when played through my amp (Triple XXX) they sound MUDDY compared to my Washburn stocks. So I was wondering if I cut the wire going to the tone pot (push-pull) will it clear it up a bit? Im hoping since its a push-pull it will be ok to do that? Oh yeah one more thing, my dad tried to wire them his way and now the push-pull pot works backwards?
In = Single coil mode
Out = Humbucker mode
How do i fix that?
Later on (at school now)
Ill give more details on the prob and a pic of the wiring to help you to help me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Really need some help and advice
Ok so where to start, well I’m in a band called ‘Renegade’ and well we have been doing ok until our singer left. There is another band that I’m friends with but we seem to rival against each other because I sometimes feel intimidated by them.
So in my band I do all the writing, well the guitar and bass. So whenever I try to write I get annoyed, the reason being because there is like 5 different voices in my head telling me how to write, sometimes I feel like writing stuff like Rage against the Machine, Lamb Of god, Pantera or lets say Chimira. This is hard to explain, but I never know what I’m supposed to do, I mean I don’t know how to settle with just my writing skills instead of other bands. So I’m always judging myself compared to other bands even my friends band. Like if I write something I will never be happy with it, I will be like “It’s too simple it should be like Lamb of God” I just need some help from some musicians around here on how to deal with this problem?
Please give me some advice if you can?
thanks

I recently bought a Caddy and was wondering how one would adjust the pot screws on the pickups. I am told that the stock pickups can be tuned to act like single coils or humbuckers. What position should the screwheads be in for single pickup vs. humbucker? I did a search on the forum and didn't come up with anything, so sorry if this has already been posted.

They rocked at the Jimi hendrix and blues stuff they did.
Adrian Belew what can be said Talent...Pure Talent he was flawless. He played some Zappa And some King Crimson stuff with the kids Then to top it all off they did the last 15 minutes of Black Sabbath 1 and it was friggin sweet! It was awesome

This just in, JAMES MACDONOUGH leaves Megadeth.
MEGADETH have parted ways with bassist James MacDonough. In a posting on the band's official forum, James wrote, "I just wanted to say thank you all so much for making me feel so welcome and thank you for all the awesome memories along the road. I will not be playing with MEGADETH any longer. I'm sure Dave [Mustaine, MEGADETH mainman] will post about it soon. Thanks again my metal brothers and sisters."
It was only five days ago (Feb. 5) that MacDonough posted a message on the MEGADETH message board indicating that he was very much "looking forward" to playing at the Desert Rock 2006 festival in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on March 16, adding that he would "document the trip" for the fans.
Could MacDonough's departure signal the return of MEGADETH's original bassist David Ellefson? In a a February 4, 2006 online posting on the band's web site, Mustaine wrote, "I said it before, [and] I'll say it again: I once was resentful, but now I am over the feuds with METALLICA, Ellefson, whomever. I have actually met with Ellefson one-on-one for dinner last year around [Christmas] to just clear the air and let him know I have no hard feelings and wanted to remain friends with him. We have talked on the phone numerous times since."
MEGADETH's next live appearance is scheduled for March 16 at the Desert Rock 2006 festival in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
If Ellefson came back, that would make my frippin day.

Shelley: Heh...hello!
Macho Man: This is Randyyyy...hey I gotta song you hafta play for Metal Shop.
Shelley: Alright, what do I gotta play for Metal Shop?
Macho Man: I wanna hear some OOOOOOPETH.
Shelley: Some Oooopeth.
Macho Man: Ohhhh yeah, Opeth.
Shelley: Dude-
Macho Man: "Demon of the Fall"
Shelley: They're all...really long. I could, I could rock some long Opeth.
Macho Man: Alllll right.
Shelley: I think that one's only like 6 minutes and 30 seconds or so.
Macho Man: Yeah, "Demon of the Fall" is actually 6 minutes and 13 seconds, I have every one memorized. Ohhhh yeah.
Shelley: 13...I was damn close, I was getting lose with that one. Randy, who's rockin your Ooopeth?
Macho Man: Oohhh SNAP INTO AN FM99 OHHHH YEAH!

Pedal chain question
by Mike9 on Sat Feb 11, 2006 10:48 pm
Well I'm cutting the slack out of my stuff and getting down to a few basic high quality pedals and wondered what, or how you run your chains, or if any of you guys have a suggestion.
I play through single end tube amps so no effects loop - I'm using a Vox 848 wah into a Xotic BB Pre-Amp into a Xotic AC Booster into an Analog Man Juicer into a Little Lanilie Reverb into the amp. If I use everything, but the wah together I get a constant frequency feedback and have to turn one off. Otherwise the setup sounds killer. Guitars and pickups have nothing to do with the feedback thing.
I've been playing around with these, but I thought it might make for an interesting thread for other guys as well. Thanks in advance -

Will Rudolph make a surprise appearance at DOA???
NIN AGAIN... Second time seeing them in the past year. GREAT show. Sounded better this time than last. They're so violent with their equipment. The first song, a guitar cabinet recieved a micstand, yup. But the highlight of the night was when Aaron North (touring guitar player, formerly of The Icarus Line) smashed his guitar and chucked it in the crowd and it owned this guy in the face.
Trent Reznor never seizes to amaze me. Josh Freese (The Vandals, Devo, A Perfect Circle, Institute, every other frippin band alive) is just an amazing drummer. Jeordie (formeraly Twiggy from Marilyn Manson) didn't really do much this show compared to last, but the way I understand it, the whole band wasn't feeling too great. Trent threw up during Erasure behind stage and he stated that he,"... felt kind of weird. The first show of a tour is usually like that, but to be completely honest, during Erasure I went back stage and threw up what I believe was salmon. Scary thing is, I haven't had salmon for at least a month."
Oh and many Dean Evo Noirs were played, and some even met their maker, it was a sad sight, but the dude getting plowed in the face with a strat made my night.

Well, it looks like its finally gonna be released
The New York Post's Page Six reports in its February 12, 2006 edition:
Stereo nightclub owners Barry Mullineaux and Mike Satsky were closing up their Chelsea hotspot at 5:30 a.m. the other morning when they encountered elusive GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose at the front door. The braided rocker was with bandmates and a bevy of beauties wanting to keep his 44th birthday bash going. Rose was so eager to get inside the club that he offered the owners a little bribe — an exclusive listening party for his yet-to-be released album, "Chinese Democracy". Axl dispatched his driver to retrieve the unreleased CD and the owners proceeded to play host, bartender and DJ to the posse till 8 a.m.

Guitar Flipping... (part 2)
I previously posted a topic requesting help/tips about flipping my guitar...
Well I finally sucked it up and did it.. many times.. way easier than it looks.. I have strap locks, I was relaxed and happy and everything was fine...
UNTIL
The pegs that you clip your strap onto started getting loose... The screws that hold them in are getting yanked a lot when you do this, and its stripped the wood inside! Now one of them ripped out and is completely stripped. I am so annoyed, because I have no idea how to prevent/fix this. Is there any way to ensure that this doesnt happen?
Does it depend on the quality of the wood of the guitar? I used my crappy guitar (fender squier) or does it depend on modifying it some how so that its properly secure?
Any idea's or help would be appreciated as I have a gig soon and was happy that I could practice it, but now this comes up.
Amps - I finally got the cash to think about one lol

I started jamming with my drummer and my Marshall 15 Watt sounds like total ASS at full volume (which it needs to be to keep up with drums...even then not loud enough) even with my distortion pedal it sounds like a piece of crap.
So I'm looking for a decent amp in the $300 area (I only have that, but my dad did hint if I saw one I wanted for a little bit extra, maybe $50-$75 more I might get it) I'm thinkig Peavey Bandit 112 or Roland Cube 60.
Any ideas what I should get?

James LoMenzo joins Megadeth...
While preparing songs for a potential new record, Dave Mustaine states that Megadeth has parted ways with bassist Jimmy MacDonough and hired James LoMenzo on Feb. 10, 2006.
"I want to thank Jimmy for everything and wish him the best in his future endeavors. He is knowledgable, and a good enough bassist to run his own outfit and I look forward to what he does musically."
Mustaine also mentions, "It was recommeded I check out James LoMenzo by a friend, because I was uncertain which direction I wanted to take with the bassist, prior to starting the next record and everything just clicked."
LoMenza (formerly with Black Label Society, David Lee Roth, etc.) will play the Dubai Desert Rock Festival with Megadeth on March 16th, 2006.

Music composition software
Do you guys have any ideas about software that would allow you to write and playback various parts on a PC. Just wanting something that I can kick around with in my spare time when my guitarists are not around and the inspiration hits. Then I could just save the file and play it back for them and let them hear how the whole conglomeration sounds together. Not really recording software, but ...get the idea??
By the way, free is better!

I normally try to avoid posting about my personal life and such. But I'm am just so freaking bummed today, I need to occupy myself other wise I'm going to go insane.
My Uncle Dave died this morning. He was pronounced at 12:01 which is what he would've wanted seeing today is the 13th and all. My uncle was a man who was so full of life. He was my #2 influence in my life (next to my father) one of the few people in the world who would use the word "groovy" and actually make it sound cool. He was Alice Cooper's #1 fan, he would dress up like Gene Simmons for Halloween every other year. When I was little we would sit around and watch Gozilla movies, and old horror movies together. I'll never forget the time when I was 5 when him and my dad put a mixture of Corn Flakes, Molasses and Brown sugar on my face for Halloween to make me look like a Melting Skeleton. So everytime I draw a skull or use a dripping blood font, I'll remember my Uncle Dave.
The sadest part about this whole thing is that he left behind a 17 year old daughter and a 10 year old son. Not to mention my Aunt, who is actually taking this pretty well.
So crank some Detroit Rock City and Have an MGD in memory of my fallen Uncle!!
Alright I'm going back to work

TransblueZ gets kicked off of the DOA Cruise Ship?!?!?!?!
Crazy dream.....DOA was being held on a cruise ship.....after all, everyone loves cruises, and they have tons of bacon every morning at the breakfast buffet.
So, I head on down to the Dean Players room and there are only 2 guitars in there - a 78 Z (Ian's, he had it shipped to DOA instead of his house) and a bad accoustic of some sort. I proceed to remember the rest of the guitars are still at NAMM (yeah, dreams are freaky this way.) So, I lock up and tell the security guy "No one is allowed to in this room until Ian, Elliot or Dean gets the vintage Z out."
A little while later security gets me and brings me to the helicopter to kick me off of the ship. Apparently the Z was reserved for the crowned prince of Wales....and wasn't Ian's.....and he demanded that I be escorted from the ship immediately......crap - missed another DOA!!!!!!

ROBBIN WILLIAMS WORDS OF WISDOM
You gotta love Robin Williams......
Even if he's nuts ! Leave it to Robin
Williams to come up with the perfect
Plan. What we need now is for our
UN Ambassador to stand up and
Repeat this message.
Robin Williams's plan...(Hard to
Argue with this logic!)
"I see a lot of people yelling for peace,
But I have not heard of a plan for
Peace. So, here's one plan.
1) "The US will apologize to the world for our 'interference' in their affairs, past & present. You know: Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those 'good ole boys;' we will never 'interfere' again.
2) "We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea, the Middle East, and the Philippines. They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.
3) "All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days, the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of who or where they are. They're illegal!!! France will welcome them.
4) "All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit!!!! No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.
5) "No foreign 'students' over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a D, and it's back home, baby.
6) "The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy-wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy, but will require temporary drilling for oil in the Alaska wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while.
7) "Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil-producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go someplace else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the! wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)
"If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not 'interfere.' They can pray to Allah, or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement, or whatever they need. Besides, most of what we give them is stolen or given
To the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything.
9) "Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace. We don't need the spies and fair-weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.
10) "All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us 'Ugly Americans' any longer. The language we speak is ENGLISH...learn it...or LEAVE."
"Now, isn't that a winner of a plan?"
"The Statue of Liberty is no longer
Saying, 'Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses.' She's got a baseball bat, and she's yelling, 'You want a piece of me?' "

Scott Stapp Gets Married, Arrested
02/13/2006 11:23 AM, E! Online
For Scott Stapp, the honeymoon was over before it even began.
Hours after the former Creed frontman tied the knot with beauty queen Jaclyn Nesheiwat in Miami on Friday, the rocker was rung up for public intoxication in Los Angeles.
Stapp, en route to his Hawaiian honeymoon, was stopped from boarding a plane at Los Angeles International Airport Saturday after airline personnel deemed the rocker "antagonistic" and "boisterous."
A spokesman for the airport police, Lieutenant Tyrone Stallings, said the rocker was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in a public place and taken to the Van Nuys station for processing.
According to TMZ.com, which first reported the incident, Stapp demanded a blood-alcohol test at the station, where he registered a 0.18--twice the legal limit.
Stapp, 32, eventually was freed and ordered to report for arraignment on Mar. 8.
There was no immediate comment from his publicist on the arrest--or the nuptials.
What we do know is the singer married Nesheiwat, a 25-year-old former Miss New York 2004, on Friday.
People magazine reported the couple swapped vows at the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, a European-inspired estate on the city's Biscayne Bay.
Nesheiwat donned a Vera Wang bridal number and walked down a 65-foot-long rose-petal-covered aisle. Stapp's seven-year-old son, Jagger, served as best man, per People.
It was the first trip down the aisle for Nesheiwat and the second for Stapp. He was previously married to Hillaree Burns for 16 months before divorcing in 1999. Stapp retained sole custody of their only child, Jagger.
They met in January 2005, at a fundraising gala for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in New York and got engaged late last year. Stapp issued a press release last month touting the engagement and announcing that Nesheiwat had taken a position as director of public affairs for the Scott Stapp Foundation, an organization aimed at promoting healthy parent-child relationships.
For his part, Stapp definitely has a handle on unhealthy relationships. Aside from his tempestuous first marriage, Stapp's sobriety-challenged behavior led to the collapse of Creed in 2004 and a well publicized bar fight between the singer and members of 311 last Thanksgiving.
On the 311 Website, drummer Chad Sexton claimed an allegedly intoxicated Stapp made a "disrespectful and crude remark" to a band mate's wife, then "sucker-punched" Sexton.
Stapp admitted to Rolling Stone that he entered rehab shortly after the fight. He also said that he was so disgusted by his booze and pill habit that he nearly killed himself following Creed's disastrous 2003 Weathered tour. (The tour, which turned out to be the band's last, was capped by a lawsuit filed by a group of Chicago fans who demanded their money back because Stapp "was so intoxicated and/or medicated that he was unable to sing the lyrics of a single Creed song.").
Stapp's debut solo album, The Great Divide, was released in November to little fanfare and even fewer sales--it opened at number 19 with 94,000 copies, a far cry from his dominating days with Creed, which sold more than 30 million albums worldwide.
Regardless, Stapp will be cutting short his already truncated honeymoon to hit the road once more. He kicks of a club tour Feb. 23 in his hometown of Orlando. The trek wraps up Mar. 18 in Phoenix.

Ok, well, it seems like the list of things that we are obsessed with around here has grown quite greatly. So I am trying to think of them all.
so far I have come up with
1) Gnomes
2) bacon

So, what else is there? I know there is more, I just can't think of them.
How much does getting CD's pressed/duplicated cost?

So I got my Peavey Classic Chorus 212 today...god I love it
The clean tone on this thing is amazing...I tried it in the shop with a Gibson V and the neck pickup blew me away, it was so sweet, I got home and there's not much difference...crystal clear clean, with some chorus and reverb, it sounds sweet!
This thing is frippin huge to me...you guys all have your halfstacks and tube combo's and s#%t but this is my first decent amp, so I was kinda surprised by the size.
The weight of it is gonna kill me someday though
Gonna stick some samples up in the next couple of days or so.
So who is still waiting for their Razorback?

Ripley Stereo Guitar
by BULL on Wed Feb 15, 2006 2:44 pm
I was just out ebay a little while ago. I desided to type in Ripley Stereo Guitar. To my surprise theres one listed for $1400. For who dont know The Ripley was used by Eddie Van Halen to get his stereo type effects on there "1984" album. From what i read these guitars are some lost treasures.
Offical red ML Vote thread
I have been itching to get in on something , so i figure this is my chance . In the dealers forum a member asked why hasn't dean made more production colors for the 79 ml , and the first i think more then likely the most popular addition would be a trans red ML . I'd certainly (100%) buy one if this were to become a reality. The conception of a red ML would require not only verbal support but also money down on the guitar to a selected dealer of choice (we'd have to vote on that)
So poll time , yes if you'd like to see a red ml or no if doesn't much appeal to you
Can't Jason ever stay dead?
Jason Vorhees Lives!
Tuesday February 14 6:50 PM ET
You just can't keep a good psycho killer down.
Hollywood testosterone king Michael Bay has been charged with breathing new life into Jason Vorhees and resurrecting the Friday the 13th franchise with a prequel.
Bay's production company, Platinum Dunes, will attempt to crank out the 11th installment in the hearty horror series for New Line Cinema by October--on Friday the 13th, natch.
Per the trades, Bay's company is scrambling to meet the pre-Halloween deadline. The script, by Mark Wheaton, is not yet finished and there's no immediate word on a director or cast.
The new, untitled chapter in the ongoing saga of the hockey-masked antihero Jason is purportedly going to be a prelude to Sean S. Cunningham's original Friday the 13th, which was released by Paramount in 1980. The horror classic followed the hacking up of various teens at Camp Crystal Lake. The low-budget gorefest grossed more than $40 million and spawned a franchise that eventually descended into camp with 1989's Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan.
New Line bought the rights to the never-say-die slasher series in 1993 from Paramount and churned out Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday that same year. But it was far from being the "final Friday": The studio embraced the space age by launching the series into orbit with 2001's Jason X.
The studio then decided to pit two of its aging horror icons against each other, Jason and Nightmare on Elm Street's Freddy Krueger, in 2003's battle royale, Jason vs. Freddy. The face-off scared its way to $82 million in ticket sales.
New Line has been trying to figure out more ways to unleash Jason on moviegoers in the past few years. First, the studio toyed with the idea of another combo deal, with Ash from the Evil Dead movies joining the fray. But that fell through when filmmaker Sam Raimi decided to relaunch Evil Dead separately.
Then, New Line reached out to Quentin Tarantino to put his stamp on the Friday the 13th franchise. Tarantino also passed.
Now it's up to Bay and his Platinum Dunes to do for Friday the 13th what it did with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The production company's 2003 remake of Massacre exceeded expectations, raking in more than $80 million and spawning a prequel, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. The latter, starring Jordana Brewster, is scheduled to unspool Oct. 6, a week before the new Friday.
Bay is seeking a return to blockbuster form after last summer's box-office bomb The Island. His hit credits include Armageddon, Bay Boys II, Pearl Harbor and The Rock.

The return of broken strings!!!
It's been many years since I've owned a guitar with a Floyd in it and yesterday while hitting the old Dimebag squeals....
TWANG!!!!!!
Two broken strings!!! D and A strings both snapped.
At first, because i havent broken strings in so long, I had no idea what just happened. The I saw the broken strings and thought "AHH %$#@!!!!".
Then it kicked in. BROKEN STRINGS!!!! ROCK AND frackin ROLL!!!!!
Just felt like sharing that. I'm overjoyed at the sheer rocking out that it took to do it hahahaha. Now I have to restring the thing. Oh joy!!
It's in my signature. If you're a horror movie fan, you'll like it.
just a note to let my fellow dean brothers and sisters know.
well... to tell you truth my 7 y/o got sick with pneumonia the other week and just got over it... but still not 100% just yet. me and my g/f got sick at the same time i got better but she went to the doc yesterday and she has bronchitis. my mom is also sick, but nothing major. now on top of all that i got a call a 1:20 am the other night about my oldest sister, she threw up black stuff "Yes Black Stuff" which in this case is blood and had a mild stroke, plus her kidneys wasnt functioning right the night they took her into the doc. come to find out she's a diabetic.. so is my other sis and my brother.
my sister is still in intensive care at the hospital. doc says she'll be there probably 4 days to a week, to find out whats causing her to bleed and waiting on other test results to get back and let the family know whats going on with her health. i went to see here yesterday but they wouldnt let me go back. b/c some of the other patients on that floor is worser off than my sis is. My mom and my other sis went to see her today and said she's doing alot better now. im glad to hear that b/c i cant afford to lose another family member.. and my cousin on my moms side died last week of lung cancer.
So i guess when i hit my late 40's I'll probably be a diabetic to.
so mainly thats why i have been MIA and worried sick to death about all this stuff happening all at once.
i just hope i dont become a diabetic or my kids.
Man I am so friggin happy right now like may guitarists I was on a search for that specific tone that I was looking for, well I decided to try those hex pickups on the Fleabay, and for me they were a
no go but then I realized I had some EMGs sitting around, so I popped them in, unfortunately minus the right pots, but they still sounded absolutely KILLER! man I am so ecstatic right now its unbelievable
the tone I've been hearing in my head is now coming right through my amp! Oh yeah man I'm willing to bet when I get the right parts it will sound even better! Wow I'm SPAZZIN OUT MAN

Question for the super duper computer freakazoids
I'm thinking of getting/throwing together a new machine. The question I have is about video card power. Is it better to do 2 decent cards in an SLI format, or spend what the 2nd card would cost and get a higher model single card?
example
Thinking of doing the SLI set up with 2 NVIDIA Geforce 6800 XT 256MB 16X PCI EXPRESS cards.
Would this give more power than using what the 2nd card would cost to upgrade to a single NVIDIA Geforce 7800 GT 256MB 16X PCI Express card?
hope that made some sense.

Windows goes to hibernate...why?

Right...
I use my PC as a webserver to host some of my websites like :

http://www.bjornbjornsson.net
http://www.mannanofn.com
I just have an ADSL connection, Apache server installed and have my PC turned on 24/7.
But for some weird reason, Windows wants to go into standby every two weeks or so and that shuts of some of my sites as it seems in doung so, my PC stops being a DNS server..
I have turned off power saving features and everything I know of, but am puzzled as to why windows hibernates every two weeks or so.
Does any PC guru here know how I can keep the damn PC awake for more than two friggin weeks?
What could the problem be if I have power options set to Always on?

For all you Bon Scott fans....
by ijenkd2 on Fri Feb 17, 2006 12:17 am
SYDNEY (Feb. 15) - In an unusual ruling, the grave site
of AC/DC singer Bon Scott in Fremantle Cemetery in Western Australia was
classified with a heritage listing Wednesday.
Scott's legend has grown since Feb. 19, 1980, when he
died of alcohol poisoning at the age of 33.
Heritage listings usually are reserved for buildings, but
the grave was recognized because it is visited by thousands of fans each year, a
reflection of AC/DC's global popularity. A 2004 Australian movie,
"Thunderstruck," centered on a group of AC/DC fans journeying across the country
to visit Scott's resting place.
"For that particular form and style of music, AC/DC were
very significant in bringing that kind of music to the world," says Kim Haynes,
the National Trust's Western Australia heritage officer.
In addition, the Western Australia Bon Scott fan club's
efforts to erect a Scott statue in Pioneer Park opposite the Fremantle railway
station have received the blessing of Fremantle mayor Peter Tagliaferri.
Fremantle Council is discussing the idea, and Tagliaferri
is hopeful the statue will be up by the end of the year. But Doug Thorncroft,
president of the fan club, is pushing for a July unveiling, to coincide with
what would have been Scott's 60th birthday. The club is starting a campaign to
raise the $60,000 price tag for the statue.
Saturday, bands around Australia are holding tribute
nights for Scott to mark the anniversary of his death. At Melbourne's Hi Fi Bar,
AC/DC tribute band Thunderstruck will be joined onstage by former AC/DC bassist
Mark Evans before a crowd expected to include Scott's widow, Irene.

US lawmakers call for review of Dubai port deal
Feb 16 1:10 PM US/Eastern
Email this story
Seven US lawmakers called for a top-level US government review of the security implications of a deal giving a Dubai-based company control of six major US ports.
The lawmakers sent a letter to US Treasury Secretary John Snow expressing reservations about the deal in which British port and ferries group Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company would be bought by DP World of Dubai.
US Senator Chuck Schumer, who voiced concerns earlier in the week about the takeover, was joined in the letter by three other senators and three members of the House of Representatives.
"This United Arab Emirates government-owned and operated company could be perfectly qualified to operate ports around the world, but the question that needs to be answered is whether or not they can be trusted to operate our ports in this post 9-11 world," Schumer said.
"The administration needs to take another look at this deal."
The US Committee on Foreign Investment, which is part of the Treasury Department, approved the 6.8-billion-dollar deal between the ports' current British manager and Dubai Ports World, that will make the UAE firm manager of facilities in New York, New Jersey, New Orleans, Miami, Philadelphia and Baltimore.
"Handing the keys to US strategic ports to a regime that recognized the Taliban is not a sound next step in our war against terror," said Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma.
"I urge Secretary Snow to investigate this agreement that could seriously undermine our national security."
New York Representative Vito Fossella said, "we cannot cede control of strategic assets to foreign nations with spotty records on terrorism."
"This decision seems inconsistent with American efforts to enhance our national security," the lawmaker added. "The lack of transparency has left many questions unanswered as to why the UAE would be granted control of United States strategic assets."
Also signing the letter were senators Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey and Chris Dodd of Connecticut; and representatives Chris Shays of Connecticut and Mark Foley of Florida.
Good concert week for me...
Just saw Aerosmith and Lenny Kravitz yesterday. Didn't get any pics or anything, but it was a kickass show. Although I don't like Lenny Kravitz's music, his stage show was actually pretty good. But Aerosmith kicked some ass. Didn't play all the songs I wanted them to play, but did some serious ass-related kicking. Also, tomorrow, I'm going to go see Buckethead. I can't wait. I will try to get pics.
After months of waiting, my Bill and Becky 500-XL and 500-R came! To top it off, I just found out my two tone will be here REALLY soon, after quite a wait for it too. This is the best news I've had in a LONG while and I just thought I'de share.
*EDIT* I just found out Metallica's got a new producer! This kicks ass!!!
Just to prove Max "Metallica4evr" wrong, I want to see if most of you guys on here play an instrument.
Does anybody know anything about harmonicas? I've gotten interested in it lately and I think I might get one to mess around with. Any thoughts?

I bought an M-109 MXR 6 Band EQ off of Music 123 and it arrived today. The only problem is, it doesn't work. I put a fresh 9 volt in it, put the screws back in, plugged it up and it won't turn on. I've got everything right, I'm 99.9% sure of it. The switch feels all dead. Most MXR pedals I've used when you press the switch it makes a click noise and turns on. This one had no click noise and no resistance when you press it, at all. It's like it's dead. How can I fix this? I'm really getting pissed at it. Thanks.

OK,
I'm, listening to the 2 songs on Dean radio and I really like them! My problem is Matt's vocals. Dude has a cool metal/singing voice yet he does the Cookie Monster through all the verses. WHY?????? He can actually sing rather well and he does that breathing in gurgle thing and it drives me up the wall. If he'd sing like he does on the choruses, I'd go buy their new CD tonight!
Anyone else????

Those crazy Iranians...
CARTOON CRISIS: IRAN RENAMES DANISH PASTRIES
Tehran, 7 Feb. (AKI) - Iran has decided to rename Danish pastries "Mohammedan" pastry - a new twist in the crisis which has triggered protest by Muslims throughout the world against cartoons of Mohammed first published in Denmark. The name change recalls when some Americans started calling French fries, "Freedom fries" to protest France's opposition to the United States-led invasion of Iraq.
Iran has recalled its ambassador from Copenhagen, and on Tuesday announced a halt to all imports of Danish products. Demonstrators in Tehran on Tuesday attacked the Danish embassy with stones and petrol bombs, the second such assault in two days.
Denmark says it holds the Iranian authorities responsible for the embassy attacks.
A series of cartoons depicting the Prohet Mohammed published in a Danish daily in September has triggered protests throughout the Islamic world which in recent days have led to at least five deaths in Afghanistan, one in Lebanon and one in Somalia.
Islamic tradition explicitly prohibits images of Allah and the Prophet Mohammed.
I need some pics of clowns, preferable scary looking ones. Thanks in advance.
Just got back from Lazer Floyd.
by Rickyg on Sat Feb 18, 2006 5:58 am
WOW!! I just got back from seeing Lazer Floyd. It is the music of pink floyd done by an orchestra (This one was with my cities orchestra, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic) and a band. And It kicked ass!!! it was also a "lazer" show, but it was actually more just a light show along with the music. The guitar player and sax player both just about nailed all of the songs perfectly. The singer was Randy Jackson (no, not the baseball player) from the band Zebra. They played a lot of the bands good tunes, but there were a few that I really wish they would have played such as Young Lust, The trial, Welcome to the Machine, Division bells, and goodbye blue sky, these were some I just really wanted to see. But none the less, it was awesome. And It was EXTREMELY cheap (free, cause my buddy had an extra ticket) otherwise it was gonna be $30. and it prolly wasn't worth $30
Problem? What problem?

Question About Dean Cases...
I just got an HS-CADI case for my Cadillac and I notice that when I place it in the case, the tips of the headstock are resting on the floor of the case. With most other guitars and cases, the headstock is "floating" above the floor of the case.
Has anyone else noticed this with their Dean's? Specifically Cadillacs? I would imagine that it isn't good for the headstock to be pushing into the bottom of the case especially since there is no padding where it makes contact.

What is the going rate for used HT selects?
I see a couple on ebay for $300-$350, but at a selling price of $650 I was wondering if $300 was normal.
I am thinking of snagging a blem HT from Jody at Music City next weekend, playing around with it for a while then selling it. I'd like to make a small profit though. Think it could be done?

Hey guys
I have been thinking about buying the Mark Tremonti morley wah for a while now, I wanted to know if there worth buying and if they have a powerful sound? and aslo if anyone has the Mark Tremonti wah, and if it is any good?
Thanks
I need help REALLY fast!!!
I need a favor FAST. I did a science fair project, where I modded my Fender frontman 15R. The thing is, I didn't a guitar to test the results with or have anything to record with. In the paper I wrote and turned in already I said I made a recording of the amp before it was modded and one after, but I lied . Tomarrow or Tuesday I have to present a power point of the project in front of the class and I need to show them the recording. Here's the favor. I need two recordings of the same thing in pretty good quality. The first should be with an ok tone to it, and the second should be bassier, with more highs and mids. I would REALLY appreciate it if somebody could send me these recordings VERY soon, so that I could save them on my power point and have them play on the power point. You can send them to aave_herra@hotmail.com Thanks in advance.
On the hunt could use some help guys.
by Noah on Mon Feb 20, 2006 1:28 am
Hey boys, im on the hunt for an amp i could get now adays that has a very jcm 800ish sound. A little high gian but still the british sound. One thing im tiered of is all the new gear thats coming out for metal..but it all sucks its all this scooped mids nu metal stuff..not my bag. Any Ideas on what amps would be good for me im thinking 6505...but im getting more into jazz and want soemthing that will be cool for that to. Videoimprovisation with the Hardtail
Hey Deaner's
A while ago, I recorded a small videoexample of a lesson I did for a student on the topic of timing and note value alteration.
I also uploaded some of my other videos on google video, for easy access and download. Feel free to check this one out and give me some feedback. It starts out by just going trough the lesson example, and then going into a fullblown improvisation on the Dean Then, if that makes you wanna hear/see some more, just click "more from this user" ( I especially reccomend the Ibanez guitarclinic and NeoBlues in the end, that's a upbeat song for sure lol)
Thanx!

(and of course, I can give you tabs the intro lesson part, or for segments of the solo, (given that I take the time to pick em out lol...)
Here's an example of a line from the solo, staring at roughly 1:49
