Thinking about hot rodding my Baby ML
by ... on Wed Mar 01, 2006 11:30 am
I am definately going to change pickups to Bill & Beckys L500XL at the bridge & maybe put a 500R at the neck. Then I want to replace the tuners with black Grovers. Eventually I would like to send the body to Jeepster to have him do his handywork with the airbrush, maybe some black lightning bolts on the metallic silver, I think that would look sweet. Opinions?
I wonder if there is room enough on this little body to route for a Floyd?
EDIT * was just checking it out & there is not enough room for a Floyd *
i was just wondering whether the dean guitar company would make a custom 5 string razorback bass. any help would be appreciated.
Washburn Dime Porn(sorry)
Anyone seen ,or know anything about this Washburn?
Did anyone Here Get this ? Silver Sparkle EVO
Here's a nice silver sparkle EVO with upgraded pickups. This is a local store (well, 100 miles from here, but in ND that's local) and I have done business with them before.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7394694356&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBI%3AIT&rd=1
I see my share of both, and have heard great things about both in quality. It seems odd to me that neither one appears to retain any real value. 4-600 for a guitar with an ebony board and thick top sounds like a great deal to me, and I usually consider "investment value" whenever i look at guitars.
So what's the deal here? Whilst I wait for my TCML and Lost 100 I am considering looking for a czech or USA tropical to add to the collection. Oh, and what's the "good" neck joint on the Tropicals?
Anyone wanna sprinkle a little some knowledge on this?
sigh...
I don't know what it is but I used to LIVE on this site, now I am just not interested in most of the posts..........is there somthing wrong with me?

Can anyone help in ID'ing my Dean and tell me more about it?
I got this Dean many years ago. I wan to put it on ebay, but I don't know the specs or age or fair value. I bought it from of a bud who was needing to put together some money. It has pretty much been closed up in its case sitting under my bed for the past 15 or so years. On the back of the neck is "MADE IN U.S.A." Just below that is the number 83 07130. The guitar is a flame red finish under a clear lacquer finish. The clear finish has some stress cracks in it here and there, in places where hardware is attached. Although I am not sure, but I would think that other than the strings, everything else on this guitar is original. That is about I know about it. I put together some pics on a web site. The URL is http://www.geocities.com/oprystar/
After a few people look at the pics, it will display a prompt saying “Sorry, this GeoCities site is currently unavailable. The GeoCities web site you were trying to view has temporarily exceeded its data transfer limit. Please try again later.”
Just return in a little while and it should work fine. That is what I get for posting on a free site. I want to put this Dean Guitar on eBay but I don't know very much about it. Anyway, thanks to anyone who can help me out. -oprystar

Peavey Triple XXX Amp (120w tube)
by graziano on Thu Mar 02, 2006 10:44 am
Hey,
considering buying one of those, and was wondering if anyone here own one, have tried one etc?
There's a store here in norway that's gonna let me have one for 50% off... I'm playing metal, of course, and I've never tried this amp before. The store is maybe 1500 km away, so can't drive up there and check it out.
Anyway, have read and heard a lot of good things about it, and the specs seem to suit me perfect.
Think I might gamble on it, but thought I'd check with you guys first!
peace.

Whos into Flotsam and Jetsam

While at DOA I was talking to Randy (RZDF)) about clear-top wall hanging diplay cases. I am still researching them for best quality, price etc. but I came accross these and thought I would share.
Some look quite pricey, but how cool are these? (Check out the industrial grade diamond-plate versions!)

Licensed Floyd tuning question
I hate to sound stupid, but whats the best way to tune a locking licensed floyd system, like the one on a Dime o Flame?
ijenkch & ijenkd2 .. you guys rock!
Picked up the my guitars from DHL today.
The Dean of the consignment was a Dean EVO 7 Premium... a single cutaway Dean 7 string with the small headstock...
It came with a Ibanez giger & a ESP SC607B .. two beautiful guitars... and you know what..?
I can't put the Dean down. It's truly the most beautifully defined, shaped, playable, stunning looking guitar I own. Im stunned, in awe and so stoked with this guitar!.. It's sensational!
ijenkch & ijenkd2.. guys.. really...
Thanks for such a brilliant deal, it's a real stunner! Il take some pics of the guitar when I finally put it down
Peeps like you are what make this a brilliant forum to be a member of!

The Ibanez Giger RGTHRG1..
Got it from DHL this morning!
OMG.. it's GORGEOUS!.. so brilliantly packed as well. Dude.. I kid you not, you FRICKING RULE!!!
I had a nightmare of a time getting the money to him and he was unbelivably patient. Waiting nearly 5 weeks (xmas & new year really was a terrible time to buy an instrument!) and never grumbled once. Id happily buy another guitar anytime off you buddy!
Thanks for a brilliant deal.. I owe ya one for the hard work & patience!
Saddest song you ever heard??
I'm a sucker for sad songs. Gimme some suggestions!
I was just listening to 'Fatherless at 14' by Kendall Payne. What a gut-wrenching sad song (beautiful too)!
Kendall (a teenage song writer at the time) had a friend whose father died suddenly. She spent the night with her friend trying to comfort her.
The next day she wrote this song for her friend. She recorded a demo in her bedroom of the song. This demo is the version released on the album.
It's a touching beautiful track.

Got a new Demeter TRM-1 Tremulator pedal - very nice
by Mike9 on Fri Mar 03, 2006 2:19 am
I got this Demeter TRM-1 Tremulator pedal delivered yesterday and put a new battery in it today and set it up in my chain. Damn - this thing is the nicest sounding tremolo/vibrato pedal I've heard. Compact foot print, has depth and speed control and true bypass. Uses odd ball 1/8" positive tip jack, but the conversion cables are cheap. Very quiet on battery so I might run it that way for a while. Hmmm . . . my Analogman Juicer is quieter on battery too -
Sound is amazing - and very organic with a natural transparancy. Not as transparent as my Xotic AC Boost & BB Preamp, but very close. It doesn't color the sound of your guitar very muchat all. Adds a nice mild boost as well. My Juicer is the same thing - a nice compressed boost that lets the tone of your guitar come through.
The Demeter makes my single coil guitars just shimmer - No secret that I love single coils anyway AND I can't wait to build my '57 Strat with the Suhr V60LPs and the SSC back plate system. Imagine - single coils that are quiet . . . now that a scary thought.
Bottom line - if you are looking for a killer tremolo/vibrato pedal - try this one. You'll be glad that you did -
High E is getting stuck on 1st and 2nd fret wire............
Is there anything I can do to fix it ? It happens when I mess with the floyd. Its easy to get it off of there but its a pain in the ass when i'm playing and i dont notice it being stuck.
I love the looks of my Amber Burst USA HardTail but never really warmed up to the gold plain looking control knobs. I can't help but think that some vintage looking transparent amber Gibson type knobs would look nice with the amber flame top. Has anyone tried this? Should I be pistol-whipped for even thinking of doing this?

anyone have a pic of one or point me in the direction of a pic of one. i saw the description on the computer screen at the place i'm getting my DOF at and was just curious about the look of the guitar. thanks
Hey guys, just a question?
I want to know how to verify that a guitar is private stash or not.
My spalted maple Hardtail, lookes EXACTLY like one of the spalted's that was in dean's private stash earlier, down to the flamedgrain almost.
I suspect that this axe was brougth to sweden from the NAMM -05 show, but there is no way to verify this.
Here's a pic, but I wonder, does ALL private stash guitars have any special serial numbers or something to identify them as such?
Serial no# is:

Headroom question

What does headroom mean? I have heard it used a lot when describing a sound.
For You Computer Savy Folks
Lend me some advice on wheres some good online retailers to buy computers from?
As in...they let YOU build the computer, thne they ship it to you. I know of a few. But Id like to know if you guys know of some more good ones.
Thanks =]
I was watching some TV with my kids this morning and I flipped on the news for minute.
They were talking about Hamas not recognizing Israel. I remember hearing this phrase as a kid and taking it literally. Like the Hamas leader walking down the hall and passing the Israeli leader. His buddy says 'Who's that guy?'. 'I don't know, I don't recognize him'. Or looking at a map and saying 'I don't recognize that country. Damn! I should have paid attention in geography class!'.
I also took it literally when I heard that guerillas attacked an army squadroom. I thought that countries were using apes as part of thier army.
I thought rhythm and lead guitars were different. Pointies were rhythm guitars (because Paul Stanley played them). Lead guitars were Les Paul and Strats.
This will make your eye's water!
This made me laugh.
Ally.
I have an issue with my Razorback :(
by ninjasx on Fri Mar 03, 2006 8:35 pm
The strap button is in the wrong place!!!
It`s parallel with the 17th fret and on the DFH and my ST-Pro it`s parallel with the 19th or 20th fret, the problem is when playing standing up and i go for say the 20th fret on the high e the strap gets in the way
Anyone else noticed this?

I have been looking at my next Dean already and although the Black Gold ML is high on my list, the 79' ML looks nice too. I have been looking at the silverburst in particular. There seems to be quite a price difference, which doesn't bother me either way I decide to go, however what about the hardwear and build? I know the flamed maple top makes a difference too, but what else are the big differences? Thanks for info in advance.
what are the MLF's?
by Levy on Sat Mar 04, 2006 12:25 am
???
thx
Ok, so at DOA I learned a few things.
I learned a little about neck profiles that I never understood. Upon picking up Elliot's Inverse Silverburst I discovered that the ever so talked about V-neck is an amazing thing to behold. It's the absolute most comfortable neck profile there is.
I play wrong. My thumb goes over the top of the neck and all that. With a V-neck, I actually play right. I want one.
USA Deans. Nothing finer...nothing else to say...
Razorbacks. I don't like them. Too pointy. It's why I've never owned a B.C. Rich...that and they all play like crap to me... But the Razorbacks are just unnessecarily pointy for my tastes. I like the straight up ML shape personally. BUT I got to play one of the prototypes over in Dean USA. WOAH!!! I mean @#$% WOAH!!! Smooth, fast, comfortable. My opinion is swayed. I'd play one... I'd own one...maybe... They're great though.
Tropicals. We've all talked about them...good...bad... everyone has an opinion really. Those of you/us who've played them. I played Elliot's Tropical ML and was suprised. Sure the shape is a bit off, but it was a great playing guitar. Fast neck, good feel... I appreciated it. Again... I'd own one...maybe lol
I did miss the part of the tour over in the Dean USA shop though. I didn't read my little sheet and just wandered over to the Six String Masterpiece display... my bad. I did talk to, whatever his name was... I'm bad with names. And I asked a few questions about the way they work and all. Was an informative experience.
This post is pretty much for all the Dean lovers/DOA members across the great pond...
I hear a LOT of whining from over there, mostly deserved especially regarding shipping, customs, etc. However after reading this one complaint I felt compelled to make this post:
"Again another great deal only for the united states!!!"
I just (literally a couple hours ago) picked up a Czech caddy AND WOULD BUY AS MANY AS I COULD if I could find them HERE IN THE STATES! They are TOP quality, as good as anything made here, in colors they don't have here. In fact, I heard tale of a Czech made Z that I have never seen. I am convinced over there somewhere there's one (or more) sitting in a Shoppe window. Man I swear YOU guys got the goods!!!
And besides, when I ship guitars over I ALWAYS SHIP THEM NEXT DAY AIR and usually FOR FREE! The Deans are always greener eh?
That's all rant over. I am taking pics of afore-mentioned axe, post with pron to come!!!
yes, ANOTHER thread about noisegates!
I know there has been PLENTY of threads about noise gates, and silencers, etc... But I was wandering...
If I could get a rocktron guitar silencer cheaper, or about the same price, than an ISP decimator(pedal version) should I go for it?
I know the rocktron has 2 channels, one for before the amp, and one for the loop. But the ISP has only 1.
Is the ISP so utterly awesome that I should get it?
I need something because I recently got the blue MXR 6-band eq pedal, (thanks mikeeb13!) and I really need something to tame this beast of an effect!
I currently have the Boss NS-2....it sucks. I've tried every possible variation with it, and it either cant clean up the sound or it cuts the volume by more than half.
Any opinion helps. Thanks.
OK. SOME OF YOU KNOW AND SOME MAY NOT AND EITHER WAY IT DOESNT REALLY MATTER IF YOU DID OR DIDNT BUT JUST WANTED TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE WITH EMGS.
I HAD BEEN THINKING OF GRABBING A SET FOR AWHILE. I HAD THE CHANCE TO GRAB A SET OF 81 AND 85 ON A SCHECTER GUITAR I BOUGHT. I CAN GET PICS IF PEOPLE WANT. IT IS A NEW MODEL THE C1 HELLRAISER FR BLACK CHERRY . ANYWAYS. I GET THE GUITAR. CRANK IT UP ON MY POWERBALL. I WAS LIKE HOLY COW THESE PICKUPS SUCK. SO I FIGURED MAYBE THE BATTERY IS CRAP. I REPLACE THE BATTER. PLUG IT IN. MADE IT A BIT BETTER BUT I GOTTA SAY. EMGS SUCK. AND NOT JUST A LITTLE BIT. THEY ARE STERILE. THEY ARE VERY ODD SOUNDING. I CANT EXPLAING THEM BUT ARE VERY WEIRD. IF YOU HIT THE STRINGS HARD OR SOFT THEY MAKE THE SAME DYNAMIC "NONE" THEY SEEM TO BE EQD WITH MORE MIDS THAN HIGHS AND LOWS. THE 81 ISNT TOO BAD AND I CAN TOLERATE IT A BIT BUT THE 85 IS JUST NASTY AND SOUNDS AWEFUL. DIMARZIO X2N PASSIVE PICKUP HAS JUST AS MUCH POWER AS A 81. AND MORE THAN AN 85 BY FAR. ON THE 85 ON NECK POSITION YOU HEAR MORE STRING CLICKING FROM THE PICK THAN YOU DO WHAT YOUR ARE PLAYING NO MATTER THE HEIGHTH OF THE PICKUP. MY BEST DESCRIPTION OF EMGS IS OUT OF PHASE SOUND WITH MORE ATTACK. I CANT SEE HOW ANYONE LIKES THESE PICKUPS AT ALL. I THINK WHEN EMG FIRST DESIGNED THEM THEY WERE PROBABLY TRYING TO MAKE A PICKUP AND THEY TURNED OUT REALLY CRAPPY SO SOMEONE HAD A BRITE IDEA TO ADD A BATTERY TO TRY TO MAKE THEM BETTER. WHALA ACTIVE PICKUPS ARE BORN. SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE TAKEN BRITH CONTROL.
What piece of gear is a MUST have?
...just like the title says, what is the one piece of gear you own that you couldn't see yourself without. I'm not talking guitar or amp, but more or less "trinkets". I'm in the buying mood and I can't make up my mind what I need/want. I'm thinking about a nice pedal tuner, but I'm not sure yet.

STUPID HITLER PLOT
THE GOOD GUYS ARE SPOSE TO BE SOME PEOPLE INFECTED WITH A BIOLOGICAL VIRUS BUT THEY ARE VAMPIRES TOO AND THEY DONT TIE IN THE VAMPIRE MYTHS WITH THE SHOW. THERES NO REASON THEY ARE VAMPIRES BUT THEY GO IN THE DAYLIGHT, DONT SUCK BLOOD, NO SILVER BULLETS , NO STEAKS IN THE HEART. JUST INFECTED AND HAVE KEWL GADGETS TO MAKE THEM DEFY GRAVITY AT TIMES.
REALLY PREDICTABLE
SILLY MOVIE
LOTS OF EXPLOSIONS AND GUNFIRE WHICH IS KEWL
KUNG FU THEATRE FIGHT SCENES
PEOPLE DIE BY PUNCHING THEM IN THE CHEST AND MAKING THEIR CHEST PLATES BREAK
SOME FIGHT SCENSE YOU JUST HEAR THE FIGHT BUT DONT SEE IT AND THEN PEOPLE ARE DEAD ON THE FLOOR
VERY KEWL BRITE COLORS THROUGHOUT THE MOVIE
PRETTY MUCH BASED ON A COMIC BOOK

I DONT WANT TO RUIN IT IF YOU SEE IT
BUT MILLA JOVOVICH IS OFF THE HOOK HOT
THEY GIVE HER CATCH PHRASES LIKE "ILL BE BACK" STUFF
OVER ALL REALLY CRAPPY WASTE OF 16 BUX TO GET IN FOR ME AND THE BETTER HALF BUT MILLA IS HOT AS HELL. A RENTAL AT BEST WHEN YOU ARE EXTREMELY BORED.
NEW GUITAR NONDEAN BUT STILL KEWL
SCHECTER C1 HELLRAISER FR BLACK CHERRY GUITAR AND 15 YEAR OLD MINIATURE WIENERDOG "SCARLETT." SHES SO OLD SHES WHITE NOW. SHE WALKED UP WHILE I WAS SNAPPING THE PIC SO LEFT HER IN IT.
REVIEW ON THE GUITAR.
PRETTY KEWL QUILT TOP AND MATCHING HEADSTOCK. NOT GREAT TOP BUT DECENT VANEER. SOLD GUITAR WEIGHS AS MUCH AS A 79MML. KILLER REAL FLOYD, NOT LISCENCED. GROVER TUNERS FULL BLACK BINDING ON THE GUITAR. YOU CANT REALLY TELL IN PICS BUT THERE IS THEN THE MOP STICKER TAPE I IMAGINE AS THE MOP BINDING. GUITAR HAS TONS OF SUSTAIN FOR HAVING A FLOYD. HAS A DISAPPEARING HEAL ON THE BACKSIDE FOR EASY HIGH FRET REACH. FLAWLESS FINISH FOR A MIK. KINDA A STIFF FEEL TO IT LIKE NECK THROUGH BUT ONLY A SETNECK. EXTRA JUMBO FRETS BUT THE NECK SEEMS TO FEEL LIKE THE USA HARDTAILS ALOT TO ME AND SORTA PAUL REED SMITH. PRETTY KEWL GOTHIC CROSS INLAYS ON THE 24 FRET FRETBOARD.EMG 81 AND 85 . $800 SHIPPED NOT TOO SHABBY. I STILL LIKE THE VENDETTA 4.0 A LITTLE BETTER AS FAR AS QUALITY AND PLAYABILITY BUT THEY DONT COME WITH REAL FLOYDS AND EMGS OR BLACK HARDWARE. IF THEY DID THE VENDETTA 4.0 WOULD BE THE WAY TO GO. THE ACTUAL GUITAR IS A BIT DARKER IN REAL LIFE. MORE OF A DEEP BLOOD RED. PRETTY MUCH THE SAME AS TEH EPS EC1000 BLACKCHERRY. THE DELUXE CASE IS FROM AN OLD IBANEZ RG I USED TO OWN YEARS AGO

Got me a new Dean T'shirt in the mail for my birfday, pics of me wearing it to follow. 44 years old on the 4th...
Izzat good, er bad luck?
Received my new tube this morning...
Its amazing how much difference a good quality tube can make. The Epi Valve Jr. straight out of the box surprised me, but I noticed the high-end tended to be a little piercing and the low-end lacked a bit on the "thump" scale. After replacing the preamp 12ax7 with a GT ECC83, I noticed improvement, but it wasn't until I received the JJ EL84 this morning that my little box came to life. I guess thats all for this post. I just wanted to confess that I'm a tube believer now.

Another story about our lovely ebay sellers.
Just got a flanger/doubler off ebay. Got it record time too. They even ended the auction early to sell it to me, The auction ended short but completed. I got it and plugged it up, no worky. Immediatley I treied hooking it up several different way. The input and output jacks are pretty self explanatory though. After messing with it for a little while it still was not working. It turned on but nothing else. I told a fellow Dean member about it that has one of these hoping that I miracly had done something wrong. He gave me some settings to try. Well I tried them and it still doesnt work. The auction clearly states that it "works perfect and sounds great". I eamil the seller telling them that it didnt work and this is the response that they gave, they were nice but still.
First read the auction details...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7393438595
"I'm glad you received the flanger on time. I am sorry that you are not yet hapy with the item. My husband was not sure what exactly the item was to be used for. We knew that it powered on, and appeared to be working. We researched others, and saw ones in perfect condition for close to $600. We felt that the price we listed was fair, even if repairs were in order. Had we've known about a problem, we surely would have mentioned it, but we weren't exactly sure how to use it.
Since reading your message, my husband has made a few calls and was ensured that it will not take a miracle to get this fixed...finding this item in perfect condition for $200 would be. The item was not sold with the refund option, and it would be very difficult to do so. Please stay in touch, as we do not want you to be unsatisfied, and want to help resolve this one way or another.
Thanks."
I told them that the item was not working like they said that it was and that if they didnt know if it worked or not they should have stated so in the auction details.
Thier response.
"From our understanding and what we could see/hear, it did work and sound fine. I am sorry that you are not satisfied, but again, our uncertainty is the reason the item was listed so cheap as compared to the others that we saw selling at much higher prices."
You would think that if they were uncertain about it they would state that in the auction right? And if they knew nothing about it and what it was even used for how could they have possibly tested it to see if it was working. Obviously these are not musicians that somehow got ahold of this thing. Dont know how they aquired it but they misled the product regardless.
I hate it when people just plug something into the wall, see a red light and assume that the thing works. I am in the middle of filing a claim with these people. They dont want to give my money back and Im not about to let them get away with it. Kind of convenient that they change thier user name as this is going on.

Peavey Mace 2x12 amp
by BULL on Sun Mar 05, 2006 1:05 pm
I am currently bidding on a old Peavey MACE 2x12 amp combo. I like the older rock style sound they produce. Heck Gary Rossington has his orginal '72 Peavey Mace head and uses it still. Hopefully, I win this amp that be real cool.

Can you put a 24 fret neck on a guitar that used to have a 22 fret neck, and it has the right scale length?
Cheers
Is this here Randall any good?
I'm totally down on cash and want a better amp than my crappy 30w Behringer Ultraroc. It has hardly any gain at all and it's not loud enough. Here it is:

Between a '79 ML and MLF?
Well, I finally got my long-awaited B-52 LG100A half-stack. I was on a business trip and my wife went and picked it up at Guitar Center so I'd have it waiting for me when I got back! She ripped them a new one on the price as well! Got them to throw in the Boss TU-2, and a few new cables for next to nothing! Enjoy:
This amp has the best clean channel I've ever heard from a solid state (next to Dime's Randall setup, of course).
The onboard distortion is great, but if I throw that DOD Death Metal on in front of the clean channel it'll tear your balls off. I haven't tried using the effects loop yet. I'm not sure how to set it up properly. I have to say I am thoroughly pleased with this rig. I haven't heard another half-stack package that compares for the price.
Man, My Friend Is An Idiot
by Alex! on Sun Mar 05, 2006 10:17 pm
My friend is always slamming Metal saying how it's a bunch of corporate sellouts with no song writing talent or passion...he's a grunge head This is one of our typical MSN conversations:
Him:
a dunno, its like anyone can do metal, its all the same
Me:
No it isn't.
Him
i just think that if you have skill, it doesnt take any effort or passion to make songs
Him:
just "meh, slam another riff in there"
Me:
And how is that different from Grunge?
Me:
"Meh slam another piece of incoherent simple as hell and stupid piece of try to be a riff but not that good enough musically here"
Him:
plomplepleeplom
Him:
lol wait
Him:
but then again metallers put themselves above all other ppl
Him:
grungers are like punk, but less deluded
Me:
Seriously man grunge isn't that hard to do, and it requires far less dedication and talent to play than metal...I don't have anything against grunge, but you argue like an idiot sometimes I'd like to have seen Kurt Cobain try play Trivium, it'd take him a decade to learn the riffs.
Him:
but then again
Him:
nirvana never lost touch with the underground fans, they stayed close
Him:
Trivium, and bands like that, dont belong in the "underground"
Him:
its "groomed" for metal radio man
Me:
Teen Spirit is so underground yeah
Me:
SO underground
Him:
victim of exploitation man
So I try and get him to watch a Trivium vid to see what he thought and his speakers were magically broken, though he listens to music on a daily basis
Yes I type too much lol
Buckethead
by tubbs on Sun Mar 05, 2006 10:29 pm
Had the opportunity to see "The Buckethead Show", last night. This guy that looks about seven feet tall walks down the stairs and straps on a white Les Paul and proceeded to part everyones hair. He only had to adjust his bucket and mask twice, slightly, the whole night while entertaining the crowd to a two and a half hour show that included some "Band of Gypsy's", "Rage Against the Machine", Hendrix's "Stone Free", as well as his own material. He played these unbelievably fast licks while doing the robot and stretching his guitar strap down to his knees. At one point he took off his guitar, handed gifts to the audience, popped and waved (danced), and twirled nunchakas, not to mention side kicking his rack gear off the table and back against the wall.
He had his drummer to the left side of the stage, his bass player to the right, and he was in the center with his Marshall 4x12 cabinet, Mesa rectofier head, and an assortment of dolls and a scary mask that talks.
His drummer looks about fifty, bald, short and chubby and wore suspenders that looked as if he had to wear them to keep his pants up. The bass player was a short 120 lb. kid but let me tell you both of them could really get it.
Buckethead played some of his songs with the the band, some were played to taped music by himself, and a couple to some dude who just beat-boxed with him. The monsterous tone was accompanied by every "lick" in the book, the coolest to me being when he played with the slap bass technique.
All said, it was well worth the price and if you the chance this would be a MUST see.

I was wondering if there are any Cadillac Select owners out there who woudn't mind doing me a favor. I am looking for someone to accurately trace around their Caddy's body and send it to me in the mail. Just the body up to the 15th fret or so, not the neck. I will send $10 to the person who will do this for me to cover postage. Please let me know with a personal message.
Thanks.

help and advice please... Sonic Maximizers and Eq's
i have been doing a lot of tinkering with my new head to get a tone that i like ..i know what i want i am close now. i think that with some tweeking here and there i could really have something i like.
Talking to a few people at DOA, and at their suggestion i have been thinking about getting an eq and a sonic maximizer.. i have been a pedal and amp (mic'd to the board) guy since i started playing and really have not delved into the rack mount stuff yet.. That being said, i dont really understand how they are used.. what series i plug them in? do i run em through the loop or do i go direct through them into the input... i feel like a moron...lol
although i have been playing for over 20 years, this is all new to me so any assistance you guys could offer would be great.
thanks
mike
I have stopped smoking today...I woke up pissed at tobacco, and just carried on with it. The taste in my mouth tells me I want one really bad, but I will resist. Any advice from you guys who have quit?
Got one for my birthday yesterday! Havn't got to check it out yet because I can't find my 9v power supply and all my cords are shot to hell. I plan on running it through a marshall mg100hdfx (when ever the hell i buy one) Using the overdrive over the clean channel as my main distortion. then kicking in the amps distortion to power my solo's to the moon
Any one have one of these box's? what do you think?
P.S. MF had an offer in there last catalog where they'd send you a free BLS back patch set. My mom told me when she ordered it she asked about it and they said it was over. How ever the guy said they had a few laying around so they threw one in anyway! those frippin patches cost 75$!!! got mine free!
Insuring Your Guitars and Gear
Hey guys, I was wondering about this the other day when randomly I ballparked the total amount of money I've spent on all my gear and realized its was already around $4,000 (not whats its worth now and keep in mind I've only been playing for around 3-4 years). How do you go about insuring your stuff and what does it entale? How do the payments work? Do I have to get it apprasied? etc..etc... I'm asking becuase I realised that if anyhting were to happen to most of my stuff...I'd be screwed seeing as I don't have much extra money lying around to replace anyhting if somehting were to happen. Anyone know anything about this???

rehearsal recording of my band ENFORCER
Hey guys been a long time since I posted something of my band ENFORCER. We've been going through a lotta changeswe basically have a whole new line up with only me and the singer remaining from the old one.
We have some cool musicians on board now and we are progressing very well, we already have 3 originals and 2 covers in 3 months which is a helluva lot compared to what we did in the previous 3 years!
anyway here is a live practise recording of a WHIPLASH classic "Stage Dive" prepare for some old school thrash madness!

Need opinion on a Crate amp head
OK, our local music store has a Crate GLX 1200H amp head for $350, on sale now for about $250. I haven't tried it yet, will do that Thursday if its still there. But I was wondering what some of you more experienced guitar amp dudes thought about this particular head. Is it good for playing Metallica, Pantera, etc?
Gee, Eddie sure looks good these days
Geeze, this guy really is a mess and a waste of talent. Its really a shame what a joke he has become. Maybe some day soon before its too late, he'll pull it together

Costco scam
BE WARNED!
I don't how many of you shop at Costco, but this may be useful to know.
I have become a victim of a clever scam while out shopping.
This happened to me and it could happen to you.
Here's how the scam works:
Two seriously good-looking 18-year-old girls come over to your car as you are packing your shopping in the trunk. They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy t-shirts. It is impossible not to look. When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say 'No' and instead ask you for a ride to another Costco. You agree and they get in the back seat. On the way, they start having grox with each other. Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and performs oral grox on you, while the other one steals your wallet. I had my wallet stolen last Tuesday, Wednesday, twice on Thursday, again on Saturday, and also yesterday and most likely tomorrow.

Does the Razorback fit in an ML case?
Just like the title says. My Razorback is in-route to my house, but without a case. So will the ML case fit?
So which ones are built better? I have the DFH/CFH which is Chinese, and just ordered a Two Tone Razorback which is Chinese. The DFH is really nice, and although a Chinese import it rivals most other guitars I have ever played. Are the Deans' that are/were made in korea better? Or did Dean just change where they are making all thier imports? Also if so is the quality higher now? I have nothing to campare them to.

[rant]righthanded gas, makes a lefthander mad!!
I just wanted to express how bad it sucks to be lefthanded.
.....IT SUCKS!!!!!!
man, how hard is it to make a lefthanded guitar
We have no selection!
....you've all seen the lefty section of the website.....
(but i'm not just talking about dean)
Everone gets their limited run special guitar, but do we? no. Heck I'd be lucky to find 12 lefties here, let alone 12 that would agree on the same guitar.
If I was righty I would for sure be buying the slime, this love, and maybe the stealth(if it happens) Also a CFH, and a razorback. (thats right, I would buy one of each. )
And the DOA guitars are sweet too....has there ever been a lefty one?....dunno, but probably not.
Damn!
Is there a way for me to custom order 1 guitar, without it costing me a fortune??
Man it sucks!!!!
And this is just the guitars. not to mention I have to read scales, and neck diagrams backwards!

Sunday Morning grox
I will never hear church bells ringing again without smiling...
Upon hearing that her elderly grandfather had just passed away,
Katie went straight to her grandparent's house to visit her 95-year-old grandmother and comfort her.
When she asked how her grandfather had died, her grandmother replied, "He had a heart attack while we were making love on Sunday Morning."
Horrified, Katie told her grandmother that 2 people nearly 100 years old having grox would surely be asking for trouble.
"Oh no, my dear," replied granny. "Many years ago, realizing our advanced age, we figured out the best time to do it was when the church bells would start to ring. It was just the right rhythm. Nice and slow and even... Nothing too strenuous, simply in on the Ding and out on the Dong."
She paused to wipe away a tear, and continued, "He'd still be alive if the ice cream truck hadn't come along.
This is probably a stupid question but.......
is cracking you knuckles really bad for guitar players......i mean, i dont want arthritis when in 25 and i plan on playing guitar for the rest of my life, but ive tried to quit cracking my knuckles and i cant. I even quit smoking and that was hard but this is harder just cuz.....i cant get in trouble for cracking my knuckles, and their always there(DUH) ....and after playing for a couple hours i really need to crack 'em, and before i start playing it helps so i can spread my hand out farther.....should i bother quiting or....what?
now i really want to bang her little azz..

My Bumblebee Razorback arrived today :)
by ninjasx on Tue Mar 07, 2006 5:50 pm
Yep I now have a USA and import Razorback
First a HUGE thanks to Tim at Center Stage (aka Harley) I may have had to wait over a year for this axe but Tim has helped ease the burden, he went above and beyond the call of duty to keep me happy and without his assistance I would not have my MXR Flanger/Doubler ( for which I am eternally gratefull) Furman PQ 4, Dime/Dean tribute shirts/ poster, a copy of the Dime tribute Guitar World last year as well as other stuff. Seriously I can`t thank you enough Tim
I cannot reccomend him enough as a dealer on this forum
Now on to the Guitar, I hope to post triple Bumblebee porn later (yes triple you will see what I mean) so keep an eye on this thread
The Bumblebee feels slightly lighter than the Rebel, and has a few finish flaws on the pinstriping but nothing to worry about unless you want to be completely anal about it.
Playability wise I can feel no real difference between the Bumblebee, USA Rebel and USA DFH except for the Floyd , I`m not too keen on it, we shall see once I get used to it.
In person it is a damn nice guitar with a really nice finish for the money and well worth it!!!

Ok, all I did was read the thread, and it was off to Ebay. I had been looking on there for the last few months, and I saw this today. I bought it right then. probably paid too much, but it's a DOA #14/50. Anyway you tell me. I welcome and respect your opinions. I'm dead meat when this arrives at the house.
Need help with new amp, please !
I just bought a peavey valveking 112 combo and i noticed it has an effects send and return so i gather this is for the loop ? So how in the hell is it used ??? What i have is a guitar, wah pedal, mxr 10 band eq and a demonizer distortion preamp. I tried lots of configurations and didn't get anywhere except making crazy high pitched animal noises !
So does the guitar go into the input alone ?
Does the preamp get put in the loop or with the guitar ?
I would appreciate any help whatsoever because i'm an idiot when it comes to these things and i never really have time to practice with work always being hectic so i'm getting pissed off because i have a pq3 and razorback coming this week and i really want to be figured out and set up for them coming you know ?
Thanks very much !

Eric Gales-"Crystal Vision"
by BULL on Wed Mar 08, 2006 12:36 am
I've heard of Eric Gales for a while now. Just that I never gave his music a listen or a chance unitl today. I want to Best Buy to day just lookin' around and I couldn't find a thing I liked. Well I desided to chance out there "Blues" section. I was actually looking for some Pat Travers (I already own 12 of Travers great 12 cd's). Anyways I seen the Eric Gales "Crystal Vision" cd there. I've seen the ad for it various guitar mags on Sharpnel records the Blues Bureau label. Eric Gales is much more than just a blues guitarist hes been labeled. His guitar playing is part Funk/Metal/Hard/Blues pretty much a great all around guitarist all wrapped up into one. Not only is his tone song writing, riffs awesome, the man can flat out sing. All 12 songs are great theres even an old Joe South cover. The one Deep Purple got there forst hit off many moons ago. Im sorry Ritchie Blackmore and the rest of Deep Purple, but Gales puts your version to shame. Im not really sure whom to compare his guitar works to. He does have that King's X, Pat Travers and Nuno Bettencopurt groove thing happenin'. Just check this man out you will not be sorry.

Saw The Haunted & Exodus last night! WOW!
by Troy\m/ on Wed Mar 08, 2006 1:00 am
Hey guys,
As the topic implies I saw two of the finest thrash bands going atm in one night last night. Exodus' first time in Aus and The Haunted's second, but the singers first.
I cannot accurately describe the sheer awesomeness that I experienced there. I was in the pit for Exodus and by chance caught a drum stick. Front row for The Haunted, right in front of Anders Bjoler (read: GOD!). Got my shirt signed by The Haunted guitarists and Gary Holt from Exodus. Sorry Im babbling. If you ever get the chance to see either of these bands, especially together, DO IT!! This was the best concert/night I have been to. All I can say is WOW! Im still in awe the next day.
Stay Metal,

Just joined up with these guys. They're (well, I guess it's 'we're', now) working on a major distribution deal. we're doing pretty good at Number One, as seen here. Just click "select genre" and choose "Death Metal". Can't compete against half that crap anyways!!!! Just an FYI; I'm not on the recordings; I've stepped in to fill up the sound, and we're working on new tunes right now for the next CD, which shouldn't be too far off. So yeah, check it out, drop me a line, give us some feedback. Love to hear from you guys!

composite fretboard on a dean? (was Parker Guitars)
I played for the first time a Parker Fly.....That is a very impressive piece of work. Has Dean ever made, even a one off, a guitar with a composite neck/fretboard, and titanium frets?
I've noticed that the price difference between the USA Schenker, and the USA Schenker limited isn't much. I figured there would be a pretty good gap.
can anyone tell me how much the old korean washburn dime slimes go for?
What about a DOA mega-competition?
Winner (DOA member obviously) gets a guaranteed place at the DOA, flights, accom', beer, strippers.... ok, I'm getting carried away now.
But seriously, a comp' that gives the winner the prize of a lifetime, maybe even a Dean thrown in too on arrival at Dean HQ for the annual party!
I haven't given the specifics of entry much thought (apart from the prizes!!)as yet, as I said, just an idea.
Any views?

Die-Cut Dean Logo Stickers
Has anyone thought about how nice it would be to have a run of die-cut Dean stickers made?
I've been looking at all the custom sticker websites and pricing different options. I would love to have a nice, large 8" or 12" wide Dean Guitars logo to put on the rear window of my truck. It would be a simple sticker to have made... just the wings and the text "Dean Guitars".
Do any of you think this would be an idea worth pursuing further? Most custom sticker shops require a minimum order of 150-200 stickers. I was picturing some in white vinyl and some in black vinyl.
Would there be any legal ramifications involved in reproducing the Dean logo? Or do you think the company would be okay with its' loyal customers showing their pride in Dean products? I'm anxious to hear some of your opinions on this.

Whats goin on? I'm just another new guy on the forum. I wanted to say whats up to some guitar players with good taste in music and instruments. Heavy music and a decent music/guitar store are pretty rare around here. I have to order anything that doesn't say Gibson or Fender on it. I've been a huge metal fan since the early 80's (kill 'em all, reign in blood). Dime was my inspiration to pick up a guitar and strive to learn it. Long story short...last summer, we went to a Trenton Thunder baseball game - they are the AA Yankees, and the stadium is literally a 5 minute drive from my house. One of their guys took our picture to put in the "pics of the game" section of their website.
Today, their 2006 marketing campaign hit the newspapers and their website....here is the banner from just about every page on their website, and identical to the print ads. Too bad I wasn't carrying a Dean to the ballpark that day!!!

A Highway Patrolman pulled a car over and told the driver that
because he had been wearing his seat belt, he had just won $5,000 in the statewide safety competition.
"What are you going to do with the money?" asked the Officer
"Well, I guess I'm going to get a driver's license," he answered.
"Oh, don't listen to him," yelled a woman in the passenger seat.
"He's a smart aleck when he's drunk."
This woke up the guy in the back-seat, who took one look at the cop and moaned," I knew we wouldn't get far in a stolen car."
At that moment, there was a knock from the trunk and a voice said, in Spanish, "Are we over the border yet?"
Well it only took me a year

Hardtail Questions.
by mpire on Thu Mar 09, 2006 6:17 pm
If I was going to buy a hardtail, I'd be choosing between a pro series or standard USA model.
Couple questions about the differences.
Does a regular hardtail have a V neck? (I know the pro does)
Do they both have Tummy Cuts?
Been jamming with my Pro-Z lately and it constantly amazes me, but if anything I'd like something lighter, obvious choice would be a V, but started thinking about hardtails. How does a HT compare weightwise with a V?
Probably not ready to pull the trigger just yet, but if anyone has a special going feel free to PM
I'm one of those people that fills out and sends in all rebates immediatley. In fact, I won't buy something with a rebate unless I have the time available to get the rebate in that day.
Consequently i've found that about 20% of the rebates are scams. By 'scams', I mean that they send you a postcard about 12 weeks later and claim that your rebate was invalid for some reason.
I got a great one in the mail today. Here is exactly what the postcard said -
Dear Mark Briody,
We are unable to fulfill you rebate request of $40 for the following reason(s)
Customer name not given on form
I called Samsung Corporate (I don't call the 1-800 customer centers anymore) and asked how they managed to address the card to me when they don't know my name.
This should be illegal. It happens to me about 1 in every 5 rebates. These companies will try anything to keep from giving you that rebate.

An acquaintance's Band (interesting... need opinions)
So some guys I know have this kinda pop metal band they have put together. I don't really get the objective. They are both firmly entrenched indie pop guys that used to listen to a lot of metal. They grew up playing in bands that played Ozzy songs and stuff. So now they have decided to go back to their roots for fun. While I think this is an interesting excersize and Bryn is a good guy. I am left wondering what is the point. Alex plays for Bleu if I am not mistaken and Bleu is about as far as it gets from Metal. I am pretty sure there is a significant tongue in cheek element to this stuff, but that seems very silly to me, like why bother? And if they do truly love the metal stuff of their early years then why the tongue in cheek element? The whole thing seems completely contradictory to me. It also seems like a way for them to say, "see we can wank with the best of them", Indie pop guys can play their instruments too.
What do you guys think? Here is the myspace site with one song. It is basically an instrumental. They are recording 6 more soon. We'll see how those come out.

AD/A Flanger - Anything sound like it?
Does anyone make a flanger (rack, pedal or plugin) that sounds like the old AD/A flanger (the one made famous by Pat Travers).
They have a very distinctive tone. Back in the 80's no other flanger sounded anything like them.
I know a couple of guys that purchased older models on Ebay and had problems with them, so I don't want to go that route.
A plugin with that sound would be preferable, but I'm opening to using anything.

Old topic - but killer leads thread
Gary Moore - Still Got the Blues. Amazing tone and feel, this is one of those tunes that is amazing everytime you listen to it.
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb. Again, 2 amazing lead breaks with tons of feel and is a great tune to listen to.
Frank Zappa - Watermelon in Easter Hay. This tune falls into the same realm as the previous two songs listed. An amazing solo overtop of a simple basic riff. It gives the old "goose bump" factor most any time I listen to it.
Randy Rhoads - Mr Crowley. Another tune with 2 great lead guitar parts. I enjoy hearing this song evertime it's played. It's not a 'skipper'.
Scorpions - No One Like You - Great way to open a tune....chump chump - WEEEEEEEEEEe........

Watched Mendeed/GodForbid/Trivium Last Nite
by D34N on Sat Mar 11, 2006 10:44 am
Mendeed opened and I thought they were frackin awsome. some nice harmonies and s#%t. Got the crowd pumpin. from scotland....check em out www.mendeed.co.uk
Then Godforbid came on..................That band is so frackin BORIN. Theres no flow to any of their songs. I just couldnt get into it.
Trivium were brilliant. corey was playing the dean from hell, rust razorback and FBD. Matt has this awsome pearl white razorback and his custom trans black ml with white binding. fooking cool guitars.
God can those fuckers play, for about 10-20 mins they were just plain showing off their skills. WOW both hands were all over that guitar and fretboard.
They did there pantera bits. walk and domination. nailed em to. no solos though.
But corey blew his amp so mat just played loads a cool songs, seek and destroy, megadeth, even sweet home alabama. He ended getting to kids up on stage to sing master of puppets becuase the sound engineeres couldnt fix the problem
cool show though.

The significance of 10,000 days is still unknown, I'm guessing it has to do with Maynard's obsession with the Vietnam War, that or it was the time since the last album was released .
I'll take this list as truth for now, but I have this feeling that it's not the real track listing or name of the album.

Off Topic. E85 gasoline is a rip off. (Rant)
Sorry if this thread is out of context but I have to vent a little.
Tonight my wife bought a new entertainment center and as I was hooking up the television an ad came on TV supporting E85 ethanol gasoline as the fuel of the future at a cheaper rate than fossil fuels. This is where I got mad. 25 miles from here there is an ethanol plant and they sell it in the local community. Well 2 weeks ago when regular gasoline was $2.14 a gallon the E85 was $2.35. Are they insane? Who would pay $.21 more a gallon for a fuel that will deliver 10-20% less fuel milage and is potentially harmful to some engines? Truthfully E85 should at the most be $1.50 a gallon or possibly less.
Then earlier today while I was waiting for my son and step son to get their hair cut at the barber shop I was flipping through a magazine to find an article complaining about the Federal Government trying to open oil and gas wells in protected wildlife areas. Which is funny because the wildlife was hardly mentioned but mountain hikers, trail riders and the general nature loving public only seemed to be the ones affected by opening up these areas. They complained they were running out of "free" land to enjoy their hobbies, if you will. That really burned me too.
I work for a major Natural Gas company and I work in the field. I know our company spends millions of dollars each year to preserve the lands in which we have wells located on. I truthfully believe our lease lands or more appealing and well kept than the surrounding areas that do not have well leases. Sure when a well is first being drilled it will look like a major mess but most companies will go back after the well is completed and remove the soil and replace it with the finest soil that is available. Trees are replanted, grass seed is spread and all the exposed piping, in our case, is painted a color that will most likely blend in with the adjacent scenery. In my area wildlife still thrives very much so and everything is very well upkept. Actually one of the advantages I see is secondary roads have to be built so workers can maintain those wells and in my opinion if these lands are for the general nature loving public this is the opportunity for better public access so more people can enjoy these lands and at the same time these roads/trails can be a major obstacle for the avid cyclist.
I feel better now and I know some might disagree but truthfully opening up these lands aren't near as bad as some people make it out to be. Besides the Federal Government and the EPA won't let it be as destructed as some assume. Like I said we have to work closely with the Feds, EPA and Wildlife and Parks to ensure a natural balance is kept. We're not all bad.
GEORGE L'S, anybody used them?
I'm waiting on my new furman pedalboard, and I have recently made a few pedal purchases. So I need some patch cables to chain em up. I though since I'm getting a new board I'd get a whole new set of patch cables so it will look nice...not to mention the ones I've got right now are old/crackly/staticy.
So, has anyone tried the, "GEORGE L'S EFFECTS PEDALBOARD CABLE KIT"? I've seen reviews and people say they're good. But I alslo have read that the "CoreX2 Pedalboard Cable Connectors Kit" is good.
Any thoughts on either? Any experience with either? Have a better suggestion?
Any opinion would be appreciated.
P.S. Yeah I had a thread like this before, but it was kinda misinterpreted, and taken off topic...so I thought I'd try again

I was wearing one of my Avalanche jerseys today and I thought that it would be killer to have a Dean hockey jersey.

Ozzy Osbourne and his wife/manager Sharon made an appearance on "The Howard Stern Show" on Sirius Satellite Radio on Friday, March 10. The following is a recap of their appearance on the show, as posted on Howard's official web site, HowardStern.com:
"When Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne came into the studio, Howard commented that Sharon looked better than ever to him. Sharon responded that she recently spent $200,000 on plastic surgery and that part of her procedure involved doctors taking fat from her stomach and injecting it into the lines around her eyes. Sharon went on to mention that, like a getting a new car, she spaces out her time under the knife to about once every three years. This led Howard to again compliment Sharon on her looks, before admitting that, when he first met her, she was far less attractive than she is now. Howard then pointed out that he has always respected Ozzy because of his commitment to Sharon, even when she wasn't at her most attractive physically. Ozzy replied that he's been attracted to Sharon since being introduced to her, but that they rarely have grox anymore because of his inability to get an erection, a condition, he said, that has been caused by his dependence on antidepressants.
"Howard recalled that Ozzy, who was in New York to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of BLACK SABBATH, once called the supposed honor 'totally irrelevant.' Ozzy replied that his beliefs about The Hall haven't changed, but that he didn't want to spoil the occasion for his former band mates by not showing up. Ozzy added, though, that none of the members of BLACK SABBATH wants to perform at the event, so METALLICA, who will be inducting the band, will play two of their songs instead.
"When Howard found out that Sharon had her breasts reduced from an enhanced size 34D to a size 34B, he asked if he could see them. However, Sharon told Howard that her son, Jack, would disown her if she flashed him. Sharon went on to say that both Jack and his sister, Kelly, have slimmed down and are out on their own. Although Sharon wouldn't confirm that Jack is dating Kate Moss, she did mention that Kate has been given a bad rap for behavior in which all super models engage.
"Since Ozzy is about to embark on another tour this summer as a part of Ozzfest, Howard asked if he was doing it because the family needs money. Sharon insisted to Howard that she and Ozzy are doing well financially and that an autobiography she wrote brought in $10 million last year alone. Since Sharon mentioned her book, Howard wondered if one its stories — namely, the time Sharon claimed Ozzy drugged her food — actually happened. Sharon said it did and recalled that Ozzy put pot in a stew he had prepared for her while they were dating. However, Ozzy claimed that the drug in question was actually acid and that two of his friends were the ones responsible for the incident. Howard then asked Ozzy about Sharon's accusation that he once tried to kill her. Ozzy responded that, in one of his less-than-sober states, he got into an argument with Sharon before blacking out and waking up in a jail cell. Ozzy added that once he found out why he had been locked up, the reality of how bad his substance-abuse problem had become really sunk in.
"Richard Christy [ex-ICED EARTH/DEATH drummer and current 'The Howard Stern Show' employee] came into the studio and brought up the battle Sharon had with Bruce Dickinson of IRON MAIDEN. Sharon explained that she personally asked Bruce and his band to join the last Ozzfest tour and, despite the fact that IRON MAIDEN was being paid $185,000 per show, Bruce, out of what she called jealousy, badmouthed Ozzy on stage every night. Because of this, Sharon reported that she hired 200 'Hispanic kids,'' some of whom had worked at the hospital where she recovered from her bout with cancer, to throw eggs at Bruce during the final night of the tour. Sharon noted that the plan went off without a hitch and that Bruce had a difficult time looking serious onstage that show because of the 'eggshells in his mouth.'
"Following an argument about Sharon's alleged affair with Ozzy's former guitarist, Randy Rhoads, Sharon revealed that the family lost all of the $10 million it received from MTV's 'The Osbournes' on legal fees. Sharon explained that, after the show became such a hit, people started coming out of the woodwork demanding credit for coming up with its concept and that all of the family's earnings from it went into defending itself. Howard pointed out that, since he's experiencing the same problem with the money he's spending on lawyers, he understood Sharon's anger. Howard went on to say that what really bothered him about Sharon's story was that he was the one who actually came up with the idea for 'The Osbournes' after Ozzy and Sharon had been on the program years ago."

any Heart/Alice In Chains/Phil Anselmo fans around here?
by Mat on Sun Mar 12, 2006 6:08 pm
According to one person who attended last night's taping of VH1 Classic's "Decades Rock Live!" tribute to HEART at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, former PANTERA and current SUPERJOINT RITUAL/DOWN frontman Philip Anselmo — who performed with the reunited ALICE IN CHAINS at the event — was seen "drunkenly walking up to 'American Idol' winner Carrie Underwood" — who was also one of the night's performers — "throwing his tattooed arm around her neck and saying, 'I'm a huge fan... I — I actually — I actually voted for you! No, seriously!'"
Anselmo joined ALICE IN CHAINS members Jerry Cantrell (guitar), Mike Inez (bass) and Sean Kinney (drums), plus guest musician (on second guitar) Duff McKagan (VELVET REVOLVER, ex-GUNS N' ROSES), for two songs: "Them Bones" and "Would?" (Photo..1, Photo..2). COMES WITH THE FALL vocalist/guitarist and member of Jerry Cantrell's touring band William DuVall made an appearance on lead vocals for "Man in the Box" and "Angy Chair". Both "Man in the Box' and "Would?" were performed twice — presumably so that the best performance could be used in the edited version of the program, which is expected to premier in May. After HEART played several of their classics with the help of several guests — including former JANE'S ADDICTION/RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS guitarist Dave Navarro — ALICE IN CHAINS returned to the stage to perform "Rooster" with HEART.
In a posting on his official web site, Navarro wrote about last night's taping, "All I can tell you is that is was AWESOME!!! The band [HEART] looked and sounded truly amazing and Ann and Nancy couldn't be sweeter or more down to earth. They played for more than two hours, featuring an acoustic 'Battle of Evermore', 'Magic Man', 'Barracuda' and a killer version of 'Rooster' with ALICE IN CHAINS. I had the honor of doing 'Bebe Le Strange', 'Crazy On You' and 'Straight on with Heart'. The performance was so inspired and I can't think of a more deserving band for this 'Decades' program which will air on VH1 in May. I ended up doing a couple of encore songs... 'Barracuda' with HEART, Jerry Cantrell, Duff McKagan and Rufus Wainwright and then I stayed on for two ZEPPELIN covers... 'Black Dog' and 'Misty Mountain Hop'. By the way, HEART's bass player happens to be Mike Inez who also happens to be the bass player for ALICE IN CHAINS. He was on double duty last night and he rocked it. Now for ALICE. Mind blowing. Jerry is at the top of his game and the band, Mike and Sean, featuring Duff on guitar, sounded absolutely perfect! Like they never went away. Having known those guys for close to 15 years, I have to tell you that I was really choked up to see them again. It made me miss Layne while at the same time, celebrate his memory. AIC really honored his legacy by inviting two singers to do the job last night... William DuVall from COMES WITH THE FALL and yes, PANTERA's Phil Anselmo! The show was both full of emotion and exciting as all hell!"

Pat Travers P.T. Power Trio 2
by BULL on Sun Mar 12, 2006 10:43 pm
I just picked up this awesome covers cd that Pat Travers did for Shrapnel Records label Blues Bureau International. The album features Travers on lead guitar and vox.Steve Evans bass and (RACER X vocalist and BADLANDS DRUMMMER) Jeff Martin vox and drums. here are the awesome collection of songs covered.
"You Are The Music" a Trapeze cover written by Mel Galley (ex whitesnake guitarist also) and T.Galley great way to start the album off.
"I'm Yours, She's Mine" awesome slide playin here by Travers a Johnny Winter cover.
"Stone Cold Fever"written by Peter Frampton Steve Marriot (etc) Mott the Hopple cover
"Rock Me Baby" and old B.B KING classic features a call and reponse guitar playin by Travers an awesome job at that.
"Green Eyed Lady" I can't recall whom did this song but Travers just tears this one up.
"Black Night" the great old Deep Purple cover no keyboards at all just Travers coverin those parts on his guitar and really rippin it up.
"Aimless Lady" A Grand Funk Railroad tone great song and choice to do herer by Pat
"Swlabr"old heavy as hell Cream tone slammin' job here
"Red Skies" a tone of the late great and one of my favorite guitarist Tommy Bolin and Jeff Martin does a great job on lead vox.

Okay, I have a problem, I don't know how to learn a solo by ear. The notes always go to fast... Is there a trick to this or something? Thanks in advance.
Hey guys...
When I saw DISCHORD'S V in person my jaw stuck open!!! Now I have been perusing Dean guitars on the web (as usual) I have once again been reminded how much in LOVE I am with the faded denim finish.
How about the DOA guitar done in FD? Or maybe a custom run. I think a |Z or ML would look killer!!!
Honk if you like faded denim!!!
Don; if you're out there can I get a little pron?
The little Crown vs. Jack mini debate reminded me. I want to get a friend a nice bottle of scotch sometime soon, and was wondering if we have any "connesouers" (sp?) here. My budget is $120 US, so keep that in mind. Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated...
edit: It has to be fairly easy to find too
If anyone has the latest Guitar World CD, could you send me the Comfortably Numb solo lesson?
The CN solo is one of my favorites. Thanks X 1/10000000 in advance.
ANOTHER NEW VID FROM MY BAND!!!!!!!
yeah we just recorded this song today. its pretty cool, we messed with the eq to hopefully get a better sound, and you can hear the guitars better in this one. but we need some thing to boost our solos, any suggestions!? and any feedback on the song is much appreciated!!!!!!!!!!
Again hope this aint a re-post but it is soooo good. Good to have Zakk at the end too.

Guys this is the $hit. I am a big BLS fan. Hey what's the beef with BLS and Limp Bizkit? I really don't like Bizkit, but Zakk has some really chioce words for them and Fred at the end. I think Zakk would kick his A$$ anyway.

Anyone hear anything off the new Danko Jones yet?
It's called Sleep Is The Enemy. It sounds awesome. The production is worlds away from Born a Lion, but it certainly sounds good for them.
I get the impression from this forum that no one hear or maybe two people have even heard of these demons of rock from Toronto.

Signs of life!!!!!!!!!!!
Dean Z called today to double-check some specs on my TCML, WHOA!!!! To me that says a lot, a small oversight could have easily taken place, but it was snagged and rectified by the man himself.
Apparently it's ready for binding, IT WON'T BE LONG NOW!!!!

Carvin 100XB Head... Opinions on Carvin stuff?
I have never tried any Carvin stuff. I found a sale of a Carvin full stack with this head. The speakers are worth the price of the sale, I am just wondering if the head is any decent?
I'm not sure I have even seen a band play out with Carvin Stuff. Our guitar player has the cabinet, which are just fine. Typical heavy celestion loaded slant cabinet.
I just purchased a used Edge Q4 bass guitar. Can anyone tell me where I can find an owners manual for this bass. Any help would be appreciated. Gary

When You Have A Bad Day - Try This
When you have an "I Hate My Job" day, try this:
On your way home from work, stop at your pharmacy and go to the thermometer section and purchase a rectal thermometer made by Johnson & Johnson. Be very sure you get this brand. When you get home, lock your doors, draw the curtains and disconnect the phone so you will not be disturbed. Change into very comfortable clothing and sit in your favorite chair.
Open the package and remove the thermometer. Now, carefully place it on a table or a surface so that it will not become chipped or broken. Now the fun part begins.
Take out the literature and read it carefully.
You will notice that in small print there is a statement, "Every Rectal Thermometer made by Johnson & Johnson is personally tested.
Now, close your eyes and repeat out loud five times, "I am so glad I do not work in the Thermometer quality control at Johnson & Johnson.
" HAVE A NICE DAY ANDREMEMBER, THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE ELSE WITH AJOB THAT IS MORE OF A PAIN IN THE ASS THAN YOURS.

My "Guitarmeggedon" Experience...
Awful in one word. I show up a little early because the guy on the phone told me the wrong time...no big deal, I'll warm up. I'm using my Dean FBD because frankly it's the best thing I have at my apartment. I get my fingers goings pretty good, nice and warmed up, and I'm actually fairly prepared. I"m not an excellent blues player, so I was going to try and just be unique by doing some whammy bar stuff and some cool slides and odd-choice notes I had kinda mapped out. Well, the guy comes around with the box to draw your number.....first, of course. Not looking forward to that since I don't know how loud to turn up the amp and stuff since we haven't heard the music. Oh well I think, the guy will adjust it right. So I plug in, get my wah hooked up, play about 3 notes just for a level check...break a damn string. So NOW I have to pull a guitar off the wall and quickly tune it. I get a Strat, which now hangs WAY too low since it's so much smaller than my Dean. I cut back the gain a lot since I'm now playing through a Strat with single coils instead of a Dean with a Dimebucker. I basically had to wing it, and I did pretty good considering, but I could have done much much better. Basically everything that could have gone wrong did. The wah sounded like it cut back the volume a s#%t-ton everytime I rocked it forward with that strat; I still haven't figured that out. I wish everyone that does it more luck than I had!
This Looks To Be The Worst Movie Ever...
Sweathogs Rule! Cube Welcomes Back "Kotter" By Gina Serpe
Tue Mar 14, 4:18 PM ET
Bring out the Welcome wagon.
Ice Cube has signed on to play the title role in a film adaptation of the classic 1970s TV series Welcome Back, Kotter, it was announced Tuesday.
As part of his deal with Dimension Films, Cube will also coproduce the redo of the former ABC series that turned John Travolta into a household name.
"There was no bigger fan of the original show than me, and I'm very excited to be able to put a new twist on it," the Barbershop star said in a statement.
Cube will play the titular Gabe Kotter, a slacker turned teacher who returns to his inner-city alma mater and who sees himself in the new batch of underprivileged troublemakers. He works to inspire the seemingly apathetic students, known as the Sweathogs.
The gang of kids is led by scatterbrained himbo Vinnie Barbarino, played in the original incarnation by Travolta. The original 'hogs also included the super suave Freddie "Boom-Boom" Washington (originally played by Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs), the tough-talking Juan Luis Pedro Phillipo de Huevos Epstein ( Robert Hegyes), and nasally nerd Arnold Dingfelder Horshack ( Ron Palillo) and were responsible for injecting retorts like "up your nose with a rubber hose" into the cultural vernacular.
Gabe Kaplan, who played Kotter in the original 1975-79 series, also created the show with partner Alan Sacks and retained the rights. He said that despite heavy interest from studios over the years, they held out on adapting Kotter until the right pitch came along.
"We were skeptical about selling Kotter because making a great movie from a TV show can be challenging," Kaplan said. "After meeting with the Weinsteins [Harvey and Bob Weinstein run Dimension], we knew they were the right ones to bring this project to the screen."
No word on whether any of the original stars will make cameos in the film, though if the recent influx of box office remakes are any indication, it's highly likely that some of the old gang will pay their respects. Likewise, we assume that Cube will give a hip-hop spin to the classic "Welcome Back" theme song, originally crooned by John Sebastian.
The Hot Chick's Tom Brady has signed on to write and direct Kotter.
Production is expected to kick off this fall, after filming is complete on Cube's next project, Are We Done Yet?, a sequel to last year's surprise hit Are We There Yet?, which happens to be another remake--this time based loosely on the Cary Grant film Mr. Blandings Builds His Dreamhouse. Cameras roll on that film in Vancouver this June.

SCHULZ!!!
Heres a new band i know there real good check them out! [b]Guenter Schulz - Educated at the Blankeneser Konservatorium and the Universitaet Hamburg (both in Germany), Guenter Schulz's study of classical guitar and influence of Carl Orff and Stravinsky is apparent upon hearing his musical finesse. This training lends a cultured edge to his playing, and combined with the more contemporary influences of John McLachlan, Goldie and Einstürzende Neubauten, unquestionably contributed to the success of KMFDM, the industrial rock group with which he was main guitarist, co-producer and songwriter in the 90s. With KMFDM, he recorded 9 full length CDs and recorded soundtrack work for Mortal Kombat, Johnny Mnemonic and Bad Boys, all the while touring extensively throughout the USA and Europe.[/b] In addition to this work, Schulz has remixed music for Rammstein, Skinny Puppy, Dink, Front 242, Pig, Die Krupps, as well as produced remakes of songs by Smashing Pumpkins, Led Zeppelin, NIN, AC/DC, and Van Halen. He participated in location sound recording and soundtrack composition for the documentary "So Good, So Far", shot on location in Ghana, Africa, and has had his photographs published in entertainment magazines. - Jeff Borden -Born to a father who was a jazz drummer in the 50s, it is no surprise that Jeff Borden began playing drums at 9 years old to Ray Charles. His first live performance was at 13 covering CCR songs, having been snuck into the club by his father. After discovering the Vancouver punk scene in the late 70s and being profoundly impacted by the scene's philosophy and life style, he trained with Ray Ayotte (the founding member of Drums Only and Ayotte Drums). He began his musical career in the Scene as a drummer in 1979, and for over 18 years went on to play with such notable bands as Der-Mittelgang, House of Commons and Silent Gathering. Random porn on a Tuesday night!
The first pics here are the last remnants of my DOA weekend. Gene (BTMN) was so kind as to teach me how to take decent pics of guitars using my Czech Korina V as the subject. I was trying to catch all the beautiful grain! This is some nice, nice Korina.
The next pics are of a blem DimeOFlame that I picked up off Jody at Music City that weekend. It just came in last week! The neck joint cracked in shipment but was repaired by the guys in the factory and plays like a champ! It's a shame I'm gonna mess it all up with a different paint job, but I am.
Apparently I still can't take pics. I know it should be outside with natural light and all that but I always seem to get the 'I wanna take pictures!' bug once it's already dusk
The following pic is proof positive that I still can't take pics. I took about 15 and this was the only one with no flash reflections...I'm gonna do something like it again tomorrow with close ups of the real lookers (and beaters) in the afternoon sun, but here goes:

Fretboards
by ... on Wed Mar 15, 2006 3:52 pm
This may sound foolish to some, but, what is the big difference between ebony & rosewood fretboards, other than the kind of wood they are made of? I played my buds USA Jackson Kelly, that has ebony, & seymore duncans, & then played his Schecter XXX that has rosewood & the same pickups. As far as the playing, I could not tell them apart. The sound of the Schecter had a much warmer tone to it though, maybe because the Schecter has the string through body, & TOM bridge, while the Jackson has a Floyd Rose?
who knows where I can get........
A 22 fret Jackson style guitar neck, with white binding and a 25.5 scale and is available to the u.k for a good price?
Please let me know if you have any info
Thanks
Getting good at Alternate picking
Can anyone offer some good tips to get really fast and good at alternate picking?
ok I know practice, yeah, which I do, I have been trying to get good at alternate picking for a while now
Im fine at Legato (hammer ons-Pull offs) just need to improve my picking a lot, and my fingers are strong too.
So can anyone offer techniques, tips etc
Thanks
how much does a 79V usually go for?
im thinkin of buying one. local store has one. i wanna make sure i ain't gettin Ripped or anything if i Do buy it. with case of course. if they don't have a case 4 it i'll make em bring one in (give em a deposite so they feel cossey)
it'll be a Black one... i'd also like to replace the knobs with Traction knobs. i don't care for the gold-esque bottomed clear ones that are on it... so how much for a set of those knobs also?
this will have to tide me over untill i get my slime in a couple months...
if a Dealer offers me a good deal with case and will swap the knobs out for me i may just go that route and let the local shop keep their V for some lucky guy to get turned onto Deans!
Odd trend in stores around here...
there are 2 stores in my homecity that i go to, and another 3 in the City where i go to university. the two in my city are pretty small and have NO pointy Geets... except for a Dean Baby V which you may have noticed My Girlfriend got a little while ago...
in Lafayette (where i go to University) the 3stores each have over 50 geetars (not including bass or acoustics or banjos etc) and of these stores has NO POINTIES. the other (a Dean Dealer) had as of about a month ago that i know for sure had only 1 Pointy! they have since increased their numbers (we think in response to myself, my girl and her Bro's comments) the last is a WB and BC Rich dealer (about 50 geets also), and has no pointies either except for one of those lowend KK V's pretty odd since they used to Hoe out the Warlocks...
so out of well over a hundred and 50 geets in this city there are now currently only a handfull of Pointies for sale...
1 Dime-O-Flame
1 DBD Tribute
1 Dean Black 79V
1 other V (looks like a gibby with a chunk off the tip of headstock)
1 BC Rich KerryKing V
recently there was (but sold)
1 Black 79ML
1 Dime-O-Flage
thats only 7 out of well over a hundred and fifty geets (not counting other's that have been sold)
now a year or 2 ago the Dean Dealer here had about 1/3 of his stock as pointies. the one with none now had atleast 1/3 also. and the WB and BCRich Dealer was more like 3/4 from all the warlocks.
WTF is goin on!!!!
geez the V and Z shape have been around since the 50s (gibbys) and were in full force during the 70s thru 90s...
How are things in Y'all's areas??? im curious if this is isolated to my area or is nation wide (international to even)

Her Highness Sheihka Miyyassah Al Thani, heh
There is no cure for Dean fever!
A year and 1/2 ago I bought my first Dean since the 80's.
I normally take 2 guitars on tour, so I figured that if I had 2 Deans I would be happy. I have several other guitars, so 2 Deans would be plenty.
Then something inside my head kept saying that I need 1 more. I broke down and got another one. 3 Deans. That's all I need.
Then I had to get a P90 Z and a Black Gold. So 5 Deans is enough.
But now I look at the the 5 Deans and they don't seem complete. I thinking that adding a 6th one will make the collection complete.
I'm starting to feel like this will never end!
Just an FYI for all the Gilmore fans. He has a new solo cd out called On an Island. I saw the title track video today. Pretty good song almost Beatle-esque. Floyd meets the Beatles if you will. David Crosby and Graham Nash sing on it with Gilmore.
Ok so I did a little ( and I mean LITTLE ) research before asking this. But if the Silverburst is a '79 why isn't the finish color listed on the '79 page?
Why is it so rare?
Why is it the only '79 with the block inlays?
Why did the chicken cross the road?
Anybody wanna buy or trade for my EVO?
Selling or trading it.Only played one time at the doa jam and that was the day I bought it.Trans Red finsh.Chrome Hardware Beautiful guitar.
Let me know.
Can someone help out a new guy?

I got my 79ML Series and my Roland cube and I'm having a lot of fun learning and getter better every day. I 've been playing for almost a year.
Can someone give me any suggestions as to what I need? I want something that gives me that HEAVY sound like Pantera, Sabbath, etc. I get cool sound frlom my Roland Cube but I want it to sound better.
Is it just a pedal I need? Anyone recommend one?

Isaac Hayes Quits 'South Park'
By ERIN CARLSON, Associated Press Writer
Hayes, who has played the ladies' man/school cook in the animated Comedy Central satire since 1997, said in a statement Monday that he feels a line has been crossed.
"There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins," the 63-year-old soul singer and outspoken Scientologist said.
"Religious beliefs are sacred to people, and at all times should be respected and honored," he continued. "As a civil rights activist of the past 40 years, I cannot support a show that disrespects those beliefs and practices."
"South Park" co-creator Matt Stone responded sharply in an interview with The Associated Press Monday, saying, "This is 100 percent having to do with his faith of Scientology... He has no problem _ and he's cashed plenty of checks _ with our show making fun of Christians."
Last November, "South Park" targeted the Church of Scientology and its celebrity followers, including actors Tom Cruise and John Travolta, in a top-rated episode called "Trapped in the Closet." In the episode, Stan, one of the show's four mischievous fourth graders, is hailed as a reluctant savior by Scientology leaders, while a cartoon Cruise locks himself in a closet and won't come out.
Stone told The AP he and co-creator Trey Parker "never heard a peep out of Isaac in any way until we did Scientology. |
Totally lame.
Fishman Neo D soundhole pickup for sale

Brand new, never used. I'll even ship it in the same box I received it in. $50 plus shipping. Shipping was $3.50 or so to me. Price is negotiable.

I thought this was kinda neat. Made for Jimmy Buffett.
So how about having a "F-Hole" design contest for Dean Guitars? I miss the Sarasota, Del Sol style guitars (but not the big teardrop hole). I would still like to see a chambered body Dean with some sort of F-Hole setup.
Heroic Jason Newsted commits career suicide.
TOMMY LEE, JASON NEWSTED, GILBY CLARKE Form SUPERNOVA; Take Part In 'Rock Star' Singer Search - Mar. 16, 2006
According to Variety.com, MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee, along with bassist Jason Newsted (VOIVOD, ex-METALLICA) and Gilby Clarke (ex-GUNS N' ROSES), are forming a new band called SUPERNOVA and will use the "Rock Star" TV program to search for a lead singer. In addition, "Rock Star" has signed songwriter-performer Butch Walker to produce SUPERNOVA's first album, to be released just before the new band hits the road in 2007. Walker, named Rolling Stone's 2005 "hot" producer, has written or produced tracks for AVRIL LAVIGNE, PINK, BOWLING FOR SOUP and TOMMY LEE.
Dave Navarro and Brooke Burke will return as hosts. Each weekly episode, which will air on CBS-TV, will also now feature guest appearances by celebs or rockers.
"Friends of mine, like Slash, Macy Gray, Moby and Rob Zombie, will join us and throw in their two cents about who should stay and who should go," Navarro said.
Lee released his third solo album two years ago and starred in NBC's "Tommy Lee Goes to College" last year.
Newsted left METALLICA in 2003, forming the band ECHOBRAIN and performing for technothrash band VOIVOD. Clarke has worked with various artists since GN'R split, including Michael Jackson and Lenny Kravitz.
Burnett, David Goffin, Lisa Hennessy, Navarro, Lee and Carl Stubner will exec produce the second season of "Rock Star". Conrad Riggs and Eden Gaha are co-exec producers.

I've been after a nice 7 string (that I can get hold of in the UK!)
I hate fender shaped guitars and most 7 strings happen to be that shape, anyone know of any V's or creatively shaped 7 strings that I can get in the UK?
tremolo preferable.
...reason being... I cant play all of godless endeavour without the right amount of strings.. some awkward parts...for 6.
EVO Noir S3
by Lon on Thu Mar 16, 2006 8:45 pm
Anyone seen one of these in person yet? I remember not liking the S3 too much when I first saw pics of it, but it's got me intrigued now. It's the set neck, dual humbucker EVO with the wing headstock, as opposed to the normal bolt on 1 hummer S3.
Can you get something like some sort of adaptor for a Digitech pedal so it won't drain the hell out of your batteries?
Me and my wife went to the movies Yesterday and there was a preview of the movie Flight 93 it was about the flight .That will cause a bunch of s#%t.

An older, white haired man walked into a jewelry store one Friday evening with a beautiful young gal at his side. He told the jeweler he was looking for a special ring for his girlfriend. The jeweler looked through his stock and brought out a $5,000 ring and showed it to him.
The old man said, "I don't think you understand, I want something very special." At that statement, the jeweler went to his special stock and brought another ring over.
"Here's a stunning ring at only $40,000", the jeweler said. The young lady's eyes sparkled and her whole body trembled with excitement. The old man seeing this said, "We'll take it."
The jeweler asked how payment would be made and the old man stated, by check. "I know you need to make sure my check is good, so I'll write it now and you can call the bank Monday to verify the funds and I'll pick the ring up Monday afternoon," he said.
Monday morning, a very teed-off jeweler phoned the old man. "There's no money in that account." "I know", said the old man, "but can you imagine the weekend I had?"
Don't mess with Old People.
Anyone have an Evo Noir (regular not the S3)?
Does anyone here have an Evo Noir? The model used by Trent Resnor.
I'm thinking about getting one but I haven't read any reviews.
Thanks
Mark

Whats is your favorite beer
Mine is Shiner Hefeweizen. It is by far the best beer I have ever had. I do like Guinness and Blue Moon, so my tastes do vary, but Shiner Hefeweizen still baffles my taste buds. What do you like.

PANTERA: VH1's 'Behind The Music' Special In Production
PANTERA: VH1's 'Behind The Music' Special In Production - Mar. 17, 2006
VH1 has officially begun production on a "Behind the Music" special on PANTERA. A photo of ex-PANTERA drummer Vinnie Paul being interviewed by Eric of VH1 for the upcoming program can be viewed at this location. An exact date for the show has not yet been announced.
PANTERA's career overview CD, "The Best of Pantera: Far Beyond the Great Southern Cowboys' Vulgar Hits!" (Elektra/Rhino), was certified platinum on January 13, 2006 by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipments in excess of one million copies in the U.S.
The 16-song "Vulgar Hits!" CD, originally issued in September 2003, was packaged with a bonus DVD boasting 12 videos, including two live performances. The bulk of the material was cull
ed from the band's six major-label releases, but also included were non-album cuts "Cat Scratch Fever" (a cover of the TED NUGENT song that originally appeared on the Polygram soundtrack to "Detroit Rock City") and the BLACK SABBATH cover "Hole in the Sky", previously available only on import.
PANTERA's classic "Vulgar Display of Power" (Elektra) album was certified double-platinum in 2004, signifying shipments of more than 2,000,000 units in the U.S. since its February 25, 1992 release.
As previously reported, Rhino Video has set an April 4 release date for PANTERA's "3 Vulgar Videos From Hell" three-DVD set featuring all the band's videos as well as live footage shot during the Monsters of Rock gig in Moscow.
Originally released on DVD in 1999, this version features the same content with improved menus and all-new Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. In fact, it is the first PANTERA release ever in 5.1 Surround Sound. It features: "Cowboys From Hell The Videos", "Vulgar Video", "3 Watch It Go", and "Pantera Live From Monsters of Rock In Moscow".
Interesting...

While searching for a web based guitar tuner i stumbled across this site,i reckon its worth checking out this page, there seems to be a whole load of helpful stuff ....

J.A. Allen Sustainer Mod for Tour Shows.
Alot of the tracks for the album had some feedback tricks done, and well, during rehearsals, I could do them, but not to the satisfaction of the songs, to be done correctly live. So, I had to get a sustainer added to one of my JS guitars.
Here is a link to the page:
http://www.benfordguitars.com/sustainer
Everyone I asked would NOT do it, or would give me a hack job description.
I listen to a podcast called "Six String Bliss". And the two great hosts of that show "Pipes and PT" had on a great builder known as Steve Benford.
To make a long story short, he took the Job, and will now be in the process of building me a signature guitar for the tour coming up. He also has some of his custom axes in stock if you want to check something out. He also is a tremendous player also, and even recorded a demo of the axe in action after the mod. He is also very interested in a Vcoustic, and the music store he works out of is into Dean Guitars as well, so they know about them well also.
Check out the page he made of the install, and also check out the podcast "Six String Bliss" http://www.sixstringbliss.com/
Its a great podcast of just guitar lovers talking about guitars and tons of info.
I am so glad it turned out without any wood removal in critical areas, and his skill is incredible, so if you need help on anything, I highly recommend Steve Benford.

Hardtail Select. Owner Comments ???
by gjg59 on Sat Mar 18, 2006 4:55 am
I have drifted away from Dean Guitars a bit over the past couple years, never losing respect for Dean. My daughter still has a Tonic and I am sellin gan Exotica FM Freedom. I have really been impressed with the Hardtails since they came out. Now that the affordable Korean Hardtail selects are available, I gotta have one.
I am thinking of getting rid of my Gibson LP Double Cutaway to pay for it and a couple other toys.
I am pretty much sold on Brazilburst, but the Trans Blue is a keeper also.
Any feedback on this guitar is appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I just got back from a long trip to the closest music store to me which is an hour away. I got a peavy 112 valveking and a set of black beauties. I was so curious about how the strings would sound that I put the strings on the second I got home. I was half way through putting them on and im thinking, "These look so cool damn" and I put in the first unwound string and go to tighten it a little bit (way under tuning) and it snapps..... I was so freaking desperate to find a way to get this string on that I accualy tried soldering it to the end of another string but nope.... The thing that really pisses me off is that im just 1/4 of an inch short....
Now im stuck with a nice set of black strings and one light brown one..... Looks so retarded...
Oh joy......

I got TERMINATED
by RC99 on Sat Mar 18, 2006 4:43 pm
A few of you who knew what I’ve been going through the past 5 months may breath a sigh of relief now… I got “terminated” from my job on March 4 … two days after my birthday. After writing this it looks long but I’m putting this out also as life experience info for some of the younger bloods here that are learning the ropes in the corporate jungle. Hope you don’t get in as BS a company as mine turned out to be. I am sending this to many friends who have wondered where the F .. I disappeared to in the last 4 months.
The manager that hired me in 2004 left in September and 4 other people quit the team or moved to a dif department within ONE month! All because of how our upper management treats people (including the business customer) AND because they knew they would not survive without O n d i e.. (the old manager) as a buffer between us and the UBER Dilbert a_ssholes that run our department.
We’re the Data warehouse team – build huge data storage, retrieval, and reporting systems on Oracle databases that business users tap into to get Loan info (G M A C Mortgage – we do all the D i t e c h .. stuff you see on TV ads) Our management’s genius is to build (no … have US build, with insane deadlines) a truly high end data info retrieval tool … dump it on the user, then move on to the next glory fake deadline blood letting over time build. Meanwhile they push back on the user when they want updates or any help with data investigation or fixes. “We’ll get back in a week or so as our current project directives necessitate that we cannot have target slippage at this time”. In other words … F you, we do development not maintenance. True genius …There’s no glory in maintenance.. hitting false quarterly deadlines gets that bonus that pays for the gas for your yacht!!
Kinda like G M building a car and dumping it on an island where there are no machanics to fix it … oh … no warrantee either. Did I mention that G M is TANKING? LOL!! These guys make that pointy headed moron manager in Dilbert look like a friggin genius … no … the head of the Mensa society! LOL!!
It's a well known fact our director has an emotionally abusive husband so she’s a control freak/torturer by day to get her rocks off. Her boss sets the deadlines and throws notebooks at the wall when he doesn’t hear what he likes. They could keep Dr. Phil employed for LIFE.
So basically I was the interface w the users and they loved me as I’d do anything for them including fixing stuff on the weekend and evenings when our Senior Director was getting his . d i c k . measured with that 2 inch ruler. Our female director was looking for the operation to go from beaten down Italian wife to German dominatrix, but the dominatrix makeover company said they saw NO need for improvement .. she was enough of a b i t c h ALREADY!
The fact that the users loved me and hated them made those two insanely jealous.
They want an all Hindu slave H1B Visa contractor work force on the team as they can slave drive those guys. I was the only white guy left!
We worked MASSIVE OT all November , December. 10 –14 hour days and weekends. They put me on this performance review plan in January. For almost 2 months I had to meet with thee fools 3 times a week as they gave me brutal deadlines so they could come up with a reason to fire me. I made ALL the deadlines! My life was meditation, internal focus, mental discipline and work for a month and a half.
I started not just meeting, but beating their harsh deadlines… which shocked them as they thought I was slower that the Indian contractors that our team was full of now. (These guys regularly work 10 – 12 hours and say it’s 8 hors so they look fast and get kept on … they are making $200/an hour on the Indian economy scale and send $$$ home to the family, so they are heroes back home… I admire that. They are not the problem, our government is.) I get along great with all the Indian guys , which was also REALLY pissing them off! LOL! I feed these guys curry ( I used to run a catering business and run a volunteer kitchen that feeds poor people), and know Indian music and culture pretty well, so we get along like family.
None of them own Deans, but other than that..they’re not bad people.
Meanwhile one of my best friends 30 years wife was dying of cancer, which put me even MORE on a totally focused and serious point. She’s like a sister to me. She died the last week of my performance deadline torture. So then I was working like a steel worker and sitting shivva/meditation at night. It was actually a very, very deep and moving experience, all of these things combined at once.
And these creeps KNEW that all this was going on!
So finally my team lead and manager that cooked up this long torture plan got TOTALLY frustrated and cooked up some basically BS lies about communication problems. They needed a reason as since 4 people left the team, they look TOTALLY busted if the LAST person on the team left. They also knew that during Xmas and Jan – Feb is a hard time to get a job so they could fire me before I left the company.
A real poker game was happenin here. Meanwhile I have quotes from 2 Project Managers that would hire me in a second and love my communications! I TOTALLY turned the cheek on this one and they know it as I could have pulled these project managers into the appraisal and it would have been a cat fight. Then they would just drill me with tougher deadlines, so I let them know I was hip to their games but let them off easy. They admitted I was a “true gentleman and professional throughout” (code for … you a good poker player but we play dirty so we be winnin’ anyway.. cause we OWN THE CASINO!! ).
So they terminated me “with cause”. I could fight it and win, but I was gonna leave soon anyway.. that place is a .. s h i t ..hole now as all the good people are gone. I wanted to get experience designing a test system (I did) and get some other stuff under my belt first… but I am SSSSSOOO glad to be outa there. I told HR that if they try to halt my unemployment since it is termination with cause, that O n d i e, the cool ex manager of our team, was willing to come to court and testify that a lot of the stuff they put on my appraisal was lies, and four others that left were ALL willing to testify too.
HR told me they will not contest it. They know they’ll get their a s s kicked in court as this team has a rep for the worst management in the company!
BTW – half the reason I’m putting this out here is I know there are a lot of brothers (and maybe one of the coupla sistahs) here that work the Corp and /or IT world and I had a LOT of in depth conversation with State Unemployment and know how it works when you get terminated. They have to prove “WILLFULL misconduct” and UC is basically there to PROTECT you from the games of these corps. Any one that needs details on that info PM me and we’ll exchange phone numbers.
The ONLY thing that pisses me off about all this is that the BS deadlines I worked in December – March kept me from going to DOA and meeting some of you finally.
I gave these people my blood…
and they kept me from meetin’ the bloods.
Next year!! and MORE cowbell.
Peace out
Bob
i wanted to ask mainly sellers on this forum or anyone a few questions.
when you list stuff to sell on ebay, does ebay take there money right then after you list something for sale? Or do they take there cut after the auctions over.
reason im asking is i have a very small amount in my bank account and i wanna sell a few things on ebay.
mainly i dont wanna get overdrafted a $30 dollar fee each time i list something.
any advice is very much appreciated thanks in advance
