Breakfast joke
by Faust on Sat Apr 01, 2006 5:43 am
A 6 year old and a 4 year old are upstairs in their bedroom. "you
Know what?" says the 6 year old. "I think it's about time we
started cussing." The 4 year old nods his head in approval. The 6
year old continues, "When we go downstairs for breakfast, I'm
gonna say something! with 'hell' and you say something with
'ass'. The 4 year old agrees with enthusiasm.
When their mother walks into the kitchen and asks the
6 year old what he wants for breakfast, he replies, "Aw, hell,
Mom, I guess I'll have some Cheerios."
WHACK! He flies out of his chair, tumbles across the kitchen
floor, gets up, and runs upstairs crying his eyes out, with his
mother in hot pursuit, slapping his rear with every step. His mom
locks him in his room and shouts, "You can just stay there until
I let you out!"
She then comes back downstairs, looks at the 4 year old and asks
with a stern voice, "And what do YOU want for breakfast, young
man?"
"I don't know," he blubbers, "but you can bet your fat ass it
won't be Cheerios."

Three Haywood County men are now in jail on felony charges of castration without malice and practicing medicine without a license.
 You just know that a sadomasochistic dungeon bust has got to be weird!

i dunno if any of you guys have seen the Penn & Teller show, BullSh*t! but its way too badass. They go indepth into scams and falacies with trends, truths, life and private/government organizations. With all the conspericy theories floating around here i think a few people are in need....
only thing is that it is exclusive to showtime

How do I use things like the icons or font colour? Also how to
download photos to the post. Thanks.
I sold all my Deans early this morning. My Bogner too. Basically all of my gear. I got $3,000 for everything.
I realize that I could have gotten many times this amount on Ebay, but the opportunity was there and I wanted a clean start.
Lately I've been thinking that I've spent too much time accumulating gear and not enough time playing it. So I'm starting with a clean slate - 1 guitar and 1 amp. Once I play this guitar to death and wear the frets down, then I'll look into something else.
My gear now consists of a Squire guitar and an old '70's Silvertone 1 10" practice amp. The amp doesn't have distortion but I think if I solder a transistor radio speaker to it that I can get some great speaker distortion.
The guitar has some neck issues, but I'm just going to deal with them. Some of the old blues players used one old guitar for the whole life. If they can deal with that, then I can deal with the neck problems on this guitar.

im thinking bout buying one, just want some feedback...
thx!
You know what really grinds my gears?
Disloyalty in friends.
"you have to stop calling me.. it has always made me feel uncomfortable.. and sam just hit his limit too... I love sam.. and I don't want him to even let the thought cross his mind... because there IS nothing and never will be anything between you and I again... and I know we are just friends and that's fine.. so can you do like the rest of my long distance friends and only call like once a year.."
A girl I've been friends with since like '99 just said that to me over an IM. All because her little idiot coke head boyfriend is jealous. What kind of Great ass #$%@ is that?
"Oh I know we've been friends for like 7 years and all, but my idiot over here is insecure so we can't be REAL friends, just friends every now and then to see how eachother is doing..."
I value my friendships heavily. More than I value my relationships honestly. I firmly believe that friends (true ones, unlike Ms Fatty Unfuckable up there) will be there long after the girl or boy has broken your heart, cheated on you, left you for some retard that will just beat her...
She's quite aware of this, and the fact that she'd choose to make a decision like this REALLY grinds my gears.
NEVERMIND the fact that I stayed friends with her after I cheated on my girlfriend with her thus ending the best relationship ever... I hate people... I really really do.
Is it time for DOA again yet!?!?
DUH!! Forgot HTML doesn't work.

Sam Ash carrying Deans
by All4Him on Sat Apr 01, 2006 10:44 pm
I just got back from Sam Ash. Their new flyer has the Dime-O-Flage, DBD T and FBD. They also had a DBD T in the store.
Just thought it was interesting. The other big-box shops were already carrying them. Sam Ash was about the last hold-out.
Ok, so I was in the pawn shop today, and low and behold there on the wall was a Dean Caddy. so I looked it over. I think it said "Caddy X, or XL" on the truss rod cover. The color was what looked to be a brazillia-burst, or sunburst, had dean pups (they said so on the pups). A couple of dents, very small, and a very small paint chip on one corner. It also had no place of origin on the head, and it was a bolt on neck that had a chrome plate that said Dean on it where it bolted up to. Is There anyone who could A: tell me what year this might be and B: if it's worth the $259 price tag he had on it. If it is I'm gonna snag it even though I play the bass, this looks like a good guitar to play with.

The old 1 finger 1 fret theory and powerchords
First, I have to say I've never taken any lessons (obvisouly!!!!) or really have a clue on how to play guitar. I was shown a few things early on and was lucky enough to have a bunch of friends in high school all start jamming around the same time. We would show each other riffs and just make a lot of noise. Then the guitar mags started putting in tablature as opposed to sheet music......made it even easier to not learn how to play, but still jam out some tunes.
One of the things I was shown/told when I first started was you have 4 fingers you play with and you should always finger any 1, 2, 3 or 4 fret spread with the proper finger. I stuck with this idea for many years, then I saw a friend doing a power chord using his Indexfinger and Pinky. I found this odd and was perplexed why someone would break the 1 finger/1 fret rule for something as easy as a power chord.....and bringing the pinky into the mix......egads. I kind of prefer using my index and 3rd finger to do a power chord. I can bar two strings with my rd finger and add the octave to the chord and make it a bit more meaty.
So, this is a lazy habit I ended up aquiring as well over time. I have seen quite a few professional and very accomplished guitarists doing the same thing. Why? Is it any easier on the hand to fret a power chord this way? (I don't know, doesn't really seem any easier) Could it be that this is a way to incorporate the pinky into a little more action, after all for some folks it is the red headed bastage finger.
one of those little things I think about from time to time

Is Tony Iommi going to Seymour Duncan for pups now?
Just doing a little late night surfing at the office and ran across this at the Musiciansfiend Site
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Guitar/Electric?sku=511573
I have no idea who this Kevin feller is but it has a non-covered dual rail pup in in the bridge position that claims to be a "Seymour Duncan Iommi twin hot-rail humbucker" Is this a new or old pup?
Browsing on the SeymourDuncan site I don't see an Iommi Pup listed - but if you search for Iommi it has this hit - http://www.seymourduncan.com/dealers/mfrPatrickEggle.shtml - that lists a Tony Iommi twin hot rail pickup
got an boss sd 1 for a boost on my solos man this thing takes your sound and kills it and you got to turn the knobs way down to avoids massive feedback this pedals crap whoever recomended it shoud be kicked in the nuts!!!!any body tried the dime distortion with a marshall for solo boosting and sustain????????
Amp reccomendations (once again...how exciting)
I'M SICK OF PLAYING THROUGH UNLOUD COMBO AMPS!
Time to kick it up a notch.
So it's like, I want a good half stack. I want a nice little sound between like, Anthrax, Slayer, and AC/DC.
Geez, what a difficult combination.
Dream Theater 20th Anniversary Tour Grand Finale -Radio City
Let me be the first to post!
I have been looking forward to this for quite awhile. Boy was I not dissapointed.
I know most of you will say you don't like Dream Theater for whatever reasons "no feeling in Petrucci's solos" and all I can say, is bah, screw you, you should have seen them tonight.
First off. SIX THOUSAND PEOPLE!!! SOLD OUT!!!! The place was packed, every seat was filled. The energy in that place was amazing. People singing along, banging their heads, lifting lighters. It was great to be a part of.
The set was planned chronologically, commemorating the 20th year.
It began with two songs from the days when they were called Majesty. I don't know much about the album(s) but the two songs they played were thrashy and really cool.
Next was Images and Words, Under a Glass Moon is awesome. The solo is ridiculous, and the thing he does with the whammy is really cool, makes a great sound.
Off Awake was Innocence faded, another classic song. Not a straight up metal song, but showed off that which is Dream Theater.
They went a little off the beaten path and picked Just Let Me Breathe off Falling into Infinity. Still a cool song to hear, unexpected too.
On Scenes from a Memory they played Through Her Eyes, which I really like, though its more "pretty" than cool. Call me @#$%&$@ if you want, but I really like the song.
At this point there was the usual 15 minute intermission. I went to buy a shirt, and came back a little after it started again.
I walked in on an orchestra! I was shocked. There is like a raised platform behind the main stage, and the orchestra was sitting up there. The song they started with was the Overture to Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence. I thought they would stop there, but they played the entire song, not just one movement. It was awesome to hear the thing played all the way through.
Listen to the end solo of Solitary Shell, or Goodnight Kiss, and then tell me Petrucci doesn't have any feel to his solos.
Train of thought was up next, and I figured the orchestra was done, but they went into Vacant. I was pretty happy because I thought Stream of Conciousness was next, but they skipped over it. I guess they wanted to do songs that would make use of the orchestra.
Which is what they did. On Octavarium they played I Walk Beside You, which had everybody singing along and holding up lighters.
Then came Sacrificed Sons, with a CNN news broadcast on the monitors from 9/11, in case you didn't get the reference from just listening to the song.
Finally, the EPIC Octavarium itself was played. In its entirety. Jordan Rudess is one of the greatest, if not THE, greatest keyboardists of all time. He did the entire intro of the song on whatever that thing he has that makes the ridiculous pitched sounds (Moog?) and I was really impressed. Sounded sooooo weird.
Somewhere in the middle of the song, the monitors popped on, into a cartoon of a cartoon version of James Labrie, the singer, running through an octagonal maze, being chased by a spider. Each member became a cartoon, and was fighting off the spiders with their instruments. It was awesome. I was laughing pretty hard, but it was really well done, and at the end they all merged into a giant Octopus that played all the instruments and beat all the spiders.
At the end of the song, they came back on for their encore.
I wasn't sure what to expect, but again, I wasn't dissapointed.
The last song of the night was Metropolis, and quite fitting
Overall, I'm very very very pleased with the show. Everyone was on top of their game. It was filmed for a DVD, which I plan on buying as soon as it comes out. Twenty years of Dream Theater, I made it to two shows on the almost year long tour. This was much better than Gigantour, as I didn't have to sit through crappy bands. Three hours of Dream Theater never felt so good.
Though its the last stop on the tour, I do reccomend taking the time to see them whenever you can, and pick up some of the albums, or atleast download a song or two.
I wrote too much.
Not knowing what hell i am doing
well i am sort of angry at myself and the more i think about it the more it bothers me but i really have no concept of guitar what so ever . I know my major scale and pentonic but i only know one version of the scale . I know how cords are constructed and a bit about what scales to use but i still dont know it good enough .
From really the beggining i have just tried to copy what other people are doing and i have ended up building my physical skills up but not my mental .
Anyone else in the same boat as me ?
I feel like i am some sort of half ass excusse for a guitar player, people see me play and just assume i know what the hell i am doing but i dont at all .
I have made advances in trying to learn more , but iss there any advise i can get other then just practius the hell out of my scales and knowing where all the notes are on the neck ?
As far as I can tell this is a Tropical Icon. Correct?
http://cgi.ebay.com/DEAN-ICON-ELECTRIC-GUITAR-PRS-lawsuit-model-SWEET_W0QQitemZ7403312232QQcategoryZ2384QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
The auction mentions PRS sueing Dean over the similarities (to the Santana model I suppose) but I have never heard of such a thing. This dude says that the Icons were discontinued because of it. I remember when the Icons were discontinued-- that was just a year or two ago. Never heard about a lawsuit.
90 bucks is a good deal though. I have been looking for a quality, inexpensive trem equipped guitar. This may be the ticket. Any thoughts on how good the trem might be? And what is the smaller toggle switch for? Says the pups are push/pull, so it can't be a coil splitter. Does it take the pups out of phase?

Seymour Duncan Must LiveWire
by Enkso on Sun Apr 02, 2006 6:41 pm
Seymour Duncan:
Active, 9-volt-powered preamp built into the pickup. Provides the benefits of an active pickup without sacrificing the famous, organic, “Seymourized” tone. Great for classic rock, punk, garage, thrash, old school metal, nu-metal, black metal and other heavy rock and aggressive music styles.
The active preamp allows higher gain and more output without sacrificing tonal response and dynamic feel. The resonant frequency of the bridge and neck pickup is matched with that of the SH-4 JB and SH-2n Jazz Model (neck) respectively.
does anybody know how the new active Mustaine pickups sound?
Is this Randall any good?

I was doing some repair work on the vinyl siding on my house and slipped with the razor knife. It went into my index finger (left hand)
tip....3/4 the way across my nail (tip back toward cuticle) and deep
into the meat......ouch!!! I'm not sure how bad it really is........I pinched it quick and held it together with bandages. I'll get a better
look tomorrow, probably need a Tetnis shot too! I am so mad at
myself. At least 2 maybe 3 weeks of heeling time for sure.
Subject: memo to the FAA
TO: Federal Aviation Administration
Our airline industry is in real trouble, and it's time to start fixing this before it's too late. To that end, here are some modest suggestions:
Dump the male flight attendants. No one wanted
them in the first place. Replace all the female flight attendants
with good-looking strippers! What the hell? The attendants have
gotten old and haggard-looking. They don't even serve food anymore, so what's the loss? The strippers would at least triple the alcohol sales and get a "party atmosphere" going in the cabin. And, of course, every heterosexual businessman in this country would start flying again, hoping to see naked women.
Because of all the tips, the female flight attendants wouldn't need a salary, thus saving even more money. Hell, I suspect tips would be so good that we could charge the women for working and have them kick back 20 percent of the tips, including lap dances and "special services."
Muslims would be afraid to get on the planes
for fear of seeing naked women. Hijackings would come to a screeching halt and the airline industry would see record revenues.
This is definitely a win-win situation if we handle it right. A golden
opportunity to turn a liability into an asset.
Why the hell didn't Bush think of this?
Why do I still have to do everything myself?
Sincerely,
Bill Clinton
I JUST got a randall warhead 212 combo for $400!!

I am writing a paper for school about Music censorship(the topic was:Issues and controversies)

Stumbled across this page last night (And sorry if this is a repost), it's the collected wisdom of an Audio Engineer who's apparently been in the business a very long time.
Collated from posts made on the Marsh (Musicians, Artists & Recordmakers Superfine Hangout) board, this is a very long page. I didn't even get 1/4 through yet, but in addition to the advice (Got a much better concept of where the mud comes from now), it's a damn funny read (If the profanity doesn't bother you <- that was the warning).

Dean Eighty Eight - whats up?
by UFOMike on Mon Apr 03, 2006 8:03 pm
I just bought this Eighty Eight on eBay, and I cant find hardly any info about them:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7402493067
I know that they are maple bodies with a maple neck (with an Ebanol fretboard? what the heck is that???), but were these made in Japan? Or were they *made* overseas and then assembled in the US? This one seemed like a good deal with a Seymour Duncan JB, strap-locks and a hardshell case... or did I get jacked? Also, on this forum I heard that some of the 80s Dean super-strats were made by ESP. Would this be one of those? The reason I ask is that the headstock looks like the old ESP headstocks, although it also looks like the Charvel/Jackson pointy stocks of that era.
Thanks in advance for any info... this will be my first Dean, and I just wanted to know what to expect. So far, I am really looking forward to this new addition!
I need some help, especially from you guys in bands. Lately i haven't been able to come up with any cool riffs, rythem or leads, at all. I dont know whats goin on, before i could get by, but now i just cant write s#%t! i was never really good at comming up with ideas, but right now im at an all time low. Just i havent been motivated or inspired at all. What do some of you guys do to get inspired? Maybe im thinking about it to much? but i cant help but think about it... Its starting to interfere with my band on a major level, but thats another story. I just need some advice, on what you guys do when you are stuck in a rut, and cant write anything.
thanks.

This is not your average "guy getting caught watching porn" video.
http://thatvideosite.com/view/2004.html
Just have a look guys. There is nothing offensive in the video and its not gross just pure hilarity.
A couple years ago when I was looking for an ML I scanned ebay for them and there were only about 45 or 50 Deans to choose from on there. This was in 2002, and now in '06 there are over 600 listings under Dean. That's pretty cool to see that the interest in the "wild wings" has picked up so much in just a few short years.
Just a random ramble as I was just on there browsing the goods. This one caught my eye:

Sorry if it's a re-post but hey, maybe someone hasn't seen it yet.
Well i figured since they started the hello thing, id start a goodbye thing.

I listen to mosty metal music and my favourite band is Trivium. I'm looking for a guitar thats good for that style, soloing and heavy stuff basically. I'm thinking of buying one of these guitars but im undecided. however im also thinking of getting the razorback 2-tone.
But can someone tell me which is best, The Epiphone LP custom or the Dean Cadillac select.
Installing Schallers (tuners)
OK, I just ordered a set of Schaller locking tuners but now I realize, I dont know how to install them. (they are screwless,) I was wondering if anyone could give me instructions on how to install them without breaking anything.
Yes I know I already have this posted in Tech Discussion, but I figured if I post it here to I'd get more responses.

Any one know where to find a flame top?
I want to put a flame maple top on a guitar of mine and I'm not sure where to look for one at. I have called most of the lumber yard around where I live and no one sells just one veneer they all sell in bulk. So if any one on here knows where to get a sweet top I would appreciate all the help I can get.
ZAKK deal official notice..
Hello everyone. Thanks for being so patient on the delivery of the Epiphone guitars. Here's the deal.
We are waiting on delivery of the Epiphone guitars for you guys FROM Epiphone because the guitars that Epiphone has in stock do NOT have working pickups!
That's correct...for whatever reason (and people....please don't send me 100 emails and posts here asking why the pickups don't work...I'm not working for Epiphone) the pickups don't work. So rather than send you guys a guitar that doesn't make SOUND through an amp, we want to have Epiphone remedy this situation and send you WORKING guitars.
That's the reason for the wait. I didn't want to say anything until I had permission because NOBODY want's to make Epiphone or EMG angry.
THANK YOU.
-Chad
I just got this email on the delay for those in on the free Epi...
i want it!!!!! and i think i remember someone here had it... how many where made??

I'd like to say that Mike rocks
I brought over a car of axes to Mike's yesterday and had gave them a good once over and corrected anything that I or others had done incorrectly in trying to get these things set up. They play great again. And he has a cool set up and some killer guitars as well. The teles and relics that he has posted play great. Thank you again Mike
What are the differences in the EMG 81 and 85?
.....besides they both suck (I knew someone would throw that out there!)
I broke out my old Charvel beater and put on new strings and got the floyd set up to behave in standard tuning (1st time ever attempting it and it was pretty easy. It was set up tuend a step down from a previous band) And while I was at it, I pulled the pup and it is an EMG 85. I had this thing installed in about 1990 or so and wasn't aware that it would be a model still in use today. I had asked for something with a little more bottom end than whatever stock passive pup that was in it. and it is a pretty beefy sounding pup.
So - what is the sound difference between the decent EMG pups?
and no, I have no intensions of putting these things into any of my other guitars.........

not too bad.. i likey..
and yeah, i know there isn't a neck pickup in it..
So...uhh...apparently these guys are out of business. The website no longer exists and I can't find a trace of the Fretware company, save a few forum postings strewn about the internet.
Anyone have some abalone (or even shell, I can't be too picky now) blocks from these guys they want to sell? Or give away?
Ok, I'm gonna kick myself when i find out how, but how do you guys get the pics down in your signature? I tried putting the link there but that didn't work.
Dean Dealers, I have a question......
I'm getting ideas around for having a custom ML made, but I have no idea how to get the order in. Do I have to go through a dealer or do I contact Dean Guitars? Do they take special orders?
Anyone know what Dean would charge to refinish a top? As some of you know I just bought a Dean V, and I'm not sure I'm gonna like the finish so...........
It's been asked before i know.
Who wants to send a brother some drum tracks? I need drums. Full length songs if ya don't mind.
As the weather warms here in the North East... I roll my bike out of the garage and awaken it from it's long winter nap. As I fire the inline four... it gurgles and spits. The Muzzy pipe snarls and then screams. The sound alone reminds me of the speed this thing can generate.
I love riding... especially this time of the year!
With that said... here's something to ponder: Ride safe my friends...
Chuck
A picture is worth a thousand words.
The Honda rider was traveling at such a "very high speed", his reaction time was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident. Swedish Police estimate a speed of ~250 KM/h (155mph) before the bike hit the slow moving car side-on at an intersection. At that speed, they predicted that the rider's reaction time (once the vehicle came into view) wasn't sufficient enough for him to even apply the brakes. The car had two passengers and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them. The Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact and landed 10 feet from where the collision took place.
All three involved (two in car and rider) were killed instantly. This graphic demonstration was placed at the Stockholm Motorcycle Fair by the Swedish Police and Road Safety Department. The sign above the display also noted that the rider had only recently obtained his license.
At 250 KM (155 mph) the operator is traveling at 227 feet per second. With normal reaction time to SEE-DECIDE-REACT of 1.6 seconds the above operator would have traveled over 363 feet while making a decision on what actions to take. In this incident the Swedish police indicate that no actions were taken.
Not even enough time to say, "Oh s#%t."

It's been a very good 2 weeks for me buying guitars. So far it's 4 and 1 amp. Today's acquisition? Dean Exotica FM in flame black (my fave color), with plush lined hard case, $95 out the door. Missing 2 strings and a pin and it needs a good wipe down, but she's good to go! Also pictured is my new PRS SE EG with tweed case that I got so cheap I'm almost embarrassed. When I say it's mint I mean it hasn't even been breathed on. Not a nick, scratch, dent, NOTHING. The pickguard is tortoise. The last pic is a pickguard I won on ebay and haven't received yet. It's going on my natural Johnson strat and should look killer. My new girlfriend is into dragons and medieval stuff so she likes it too.

We are proud to Introduce the Deen Dong. This model, the Chester. R Billiewe model, is made of a 7 piece press-board body with Shartster Natural staining.
It is loaded with Chester's signature Triple Coil pickup, creating his signature buzzing sound, this deluxe model also includes a screaming single coil pickup in the neck position.
The four knobs control each coils volume, as just as Billiewe asked.... no tone controls
this fine piece of workmanship retails around $34,000 due to its high demand and long painstaking process to build.

Queensryche Operation:Mindcrime II
I was just wondering what thoughts others have about this new cd from Queensryche??? I haven't liked any of their cd's since Empire and Promised Land and I even think those two don't compare with the cd's before them. I haven't decided if I like Mindcrime II yet. It's definately more guitar heavy than Hear in the now frontier, Q2K and Tribes. Geoff's voice sure isn't what it used to be tho!

Guitarist/vocalist Matthew "Matt" Tuck of the Welsh metalcore act BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE — who are currently on the road in North America as the opening act on a three-band package also featuring LACUNA COIL and headliners ROB ZOMBIE — has posted the following message on his group's official message board (where he posts under the name "Mattie") (comment in question was posted today, April 6, 2006 at 4:34 p.m.):
"Yo, check it. We get just 30 minutes on this ZOMBIE tour, that's it!!! So there's not a lot of time to %$#@! around. Apologies for not playing all these [songs], but s#%t, man, you can't please all the people all the time. Next time, bro. As for the merchandise, ZOMBIE makes us price match him so, yup, it's frackin $40 for a t-shirt, which is insane, I know. Greedy money-grabbing fucks. We're only allowed two pieces of merch, too, which sucks ass. Unfortunately, being first on on a tour like this sucks, but it's gotta be done. As I write this, I'm sitting on the frackin' floor of the venue 'coz we don't have a dressing room again, 'coz frackin Zombie takes them all for him, his band and crew. Basically, we are s#%t to him, but %$#@! it — if this is what it takes to get a name over here, then it's gotta be done. I'm not one to %$#@! around with words, so yes, we are not being treated well on this tour. Oh yeah, we don't get a soundcheck either. frackin' pissed at this tour, man."
BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's debut album, "The Poison", has sold 36,000 copies in the United States since its February 14, 2006 release. ROB ZOMBIE's latest effort, "Educated Horses", registered a first-week tally of 107,000 to debut at No. 5 on next week's The Billboard 200 chart. LACUNA COIL's 2002 album, "Comalies", has sold more than 230,000 copies in the United States, while its newly issued follow-up, "Karmacode", is expected to shift between 30,000 and 40,000 copies in its first week of release.

A nice, calm and respectable lady went into the pharmacy, right up to the pharmacist, looked straight into his eyes, and said, "I would like to buy some cyanide." The pharmacist asked, "Why in the world do you need cyanide?" The lady replied, "I need it to poison my husband." The pharmacist's eyes got big and he exclaimed, "Lord have mercy! I can't give you cyanide to kill your husband! That's against the law! I'll lose my license! They'll throw both of us in jail! All kinds of bad things will happen. Absolutely not! You CANNOT have any cyanide!" The lady reached into her purse and pulled out a picture of her husband in bed with the pharmacist's wife. The pharmacist looked at the picture and replied, "Well now. That's different. You didn't tell me you had a prescription."

by RangeR on Fri Apr 07, 2006 12:25 am
Hiya guys
I'm thinking of getting a '79 mlf in TBZ ....i have a few concerns tho,....
Is there a lot of room for difference in colours in TBZ models?Searching various sites I've found a few inconsistencies.
I want a '79 similar to this one that looks like the FBD ...

Also,what is the score with the "saggy crotch "thing?the top one doesn't seem to have this,but the bottom one does,.......and is the licensed floyd realllly,reallly bad ?
Any help is greatly appreciated as i have an ML fever which i need to cure in the next few days

Favorite Underrated Guitarists?
Who is your favorite guitarist that doesn't get the fame they
deserve? Mine is a guy named Andy Timmons, he used to play
for 80's hair band Danger Danger but now is mainly a solo artists.
I saw him open for Eric Johnson at a guitar show in Dallas and
the guy was awsome, I enjoyed his playing more than Eric's!

Got this yesterday...took almost 4 weeks via Canada/US Postal system.
It was shipped in a gig bag with lots of padding...and survived the postal
worker!
I am really liking the way she sounds! These pups, although not the hottest,
give out a very bright, crisp and clean tone! And with the coils tapped, I swear
I could hear a strat coming out of my amp! The rosewood board has a very tight
grain...almost like ebony. Nice slim C neck...she's a keeper!

Off-topic - Urgh!! Teenagers...
This is way off topic for a guitar board, but I consider you guys my friends so I thought I bounce this off of you to make sure I’m not way off base.
For those that don’t know, my family business is video production. My wife runs the biz and puts in about 50 hours a week. I work much less. And no, that little home camcorder I brought to DOA is not one of the company cameras.
We primary do very high-end weddings (they kind that people spend $100,000+ on), but we also lots of corporate work and the occasional piece for the local pro sports teams.
A while back we hired a teenager to help out. We figured that $8 is good pay for a 16 year old. It’s better pay then McDonald’s and the teen can learn some skills. Plus it can be fun, interesting work.
So we hire a kid that the local high school says ‘is a natural, the best in the school at video production’. A genius? Prodigy? No, but he’s a good kid that tries hard.
We initially started him out with some easy project, working on some real estate video work. It didn’t go well initially and took him several tries to get it right. But after some training on our part he finished the project. At this point about ¾ of his time on the job is spent being taught by me or my wife. But he’s kid, is eager and wants to learn, so I don’t mind teaching him. I figure that if I teach him now he can be self-sufficient in the future.
So I’m thinking that everything is going ok…..
This week he comes to the studio with his parents. His father says ‘The average going rate for video editors in the U.S. is $19.71 an hour. At my son’s skill level and talent, he should be paid at least that. Probably more like $25 an hour’.
I’m floored. This is a 16 year old kid. Not someone who just graduated with a college degree in video production.
I explained that the salary rate he’s quoting is for a college graduate. I explained that while the boy is a good worker, his current skill level is about 5% of a college graduates. I said that if we had hired his son for $19.71 an hour he would have been fired the first week for lack of skills.
So he quits.
I’m bummed, not because he was a great worker, but because I thought I was helping someone out. I washed dishes at that age to buy my first guitar. I would have killed for a job like this. I thought a kid would be happy to work with some high level tools (much better then he has at school) and do some creative work. Evidently not.
Am I way off base here??? Is this just an isolated incident or do all kids really expect to be paid like this?
Where to buy power tubes?
by MLattack on Fri Apr 07, 2006 10:38 pm
What's a good cheap and fast online place to buy power tubes? I am in serious need of new tubes for my Peavey XXX. I replaced all the preamps with GT's and it roared for a while but now it's losing power and girth so it's time for the biguns to get replaced. I was thinking about trying EL-34's because I like that GROWL of the hardass modded marshalls compared to the fuzz of mesas and such.
how do I make the forum my homepage?
by Rickyg on Fri Apr 07, 2006 11:00 pm
Ok, this may be a newb type question, but does anyone know how I can set the forum as my homepage? I mean, this is the first place I go when I sign on so I figured "eh, might as well make it my homepage" but I can't figure out how.
So any help would be much appreciated.
Ugh - Some days I hate ebay.
by Mike9 on Fri Apr 07, 2006 11:18 pm
So last weekend I bought a pair of Duncan P-90s from a reputable ebay seller. They were pulls from a new damaged guitar - (sound familiar?) Anyway I got them for a killer price and today the envelope came.
OK now I'm giddy with joy because I can put them in this Agile gold top I'm redoing. When I open the envelope - out plop a pair of . . . . . . . . MightyMite cheeze-o P-90 wannabe's. So I'm on the phone like greased lightening - Now I have to mail them back and hope that they have another pair in stock because the guy that bought the MM's and got Duncan's is doing a jig right about now.
HOLY CRAP! After 2 weeks of waiting, they're here!!!!!
LOVE the package. frippin awsome. Really makes me feel like these guys do EVERYTHING themselves.
Very tight, well packed and everything in order. Nothing sounds bad.
Then...
Holy crap! All that stuff came in it! New strings and a pic! These guys are the s#%t! Pickup arrived in perfect condition with all the connectors and screws tucked neatly underneath. It looks so badass and I cant wait to throw it into my RRV! I'm going out this Sunday to get it installed!
I expect a massive increase in my playing time with these bad boys!
My 79MLF gets Traction Knobs (pics)
So I had a stock Dean 79MLF with gold knobs. Here she is before:
Today, I took out my extra black speed knobs from my LP Custom Rose (who got gold speed knobs a while back), and away I went with a soldering iron!
It was SUPER easy. Next on the agenda is to get a Seymour Duncan SH-1 '59 neck p/up (zebra, w/ coil tap) and put that and my Dimebucker in it. I might also upgrade my floyd to a black Gotoh Floyd Rose.
You know your a alcoholic when.....
Why is it that Agile "Les Paul" guitars are so cheap? I hear they are great for the money. But they are set neck and everything, and the one I want only costs $150! It's a silverburst LP...I was looking at the Adam Jones interview in the new Guitar World and got some GAS for one of those bonerizing, goo looking silverbursts.
SCORE ONE FOR THE LITTLE GUY...VERY LARGE pron included..
For any on ethat got raped at the evil guitar center just know i took some much needed revenge on them today..
i traded in this.. (i didnt pay a huge amount for it..)
for this.. (USA PRO HARD TAIL)
and .. their best case $120.. and... a nice azz levy strap $40.. and... a set of the dave mustaine live wire seymore duncan pickups $187 .. (wont get em for 2-3 weeks)
i tihink i got the better end of the deal..
now my z has a friend..
if there is a program I can use to rip audio off mpeg2 files, avi, etc files?
I have some bootlegs I want to be able to listen to without my laptop.
Landscaping (Arbor Day Foundation Question)
Hey guys, I got bored yesterday, and for the first time, I decided to pick up something other than a guitar to cure my aforementioned boredom. I started ripping our landscaping apart to redo it "my style". Thus far its coming along rather well. Yesterday, it was 80 degrees and sunny, so I got a lot done. Today, its 50 degrees and pouring the rain. This forced me to postpone my project. I decided to do some online research to pass the time and it just so happened that one of the MSN.com articles for today was on landscaping. I took notice, particularly, to the Arbor Day Foundation section. You supposedly get 10 free trees, shipped free as well, for signing up for a 6-month membership at $10. I was just wondering if any of you guys have tried this or maybe you know someone that has. I'd hate for this to turn out like one of those dreaded BMG records deals...

Caddy Select Vs. Black Gold ML
Just wondering some others thoughts on tone, playability, quality and such, thanks alot for the info, this could make or break my choice.
~Clark
Ok I'm gonna do one of these threads. We're tryna think of a name, and are having some problems.
I know what I'm opening myself up for by asking for help.
Our choices are:
Burn the End (my favorite, and my idea...the end of the world is supposed to be by fire...ta-da!!!)
Society's Burden (I hate it. I'm not 16)
I've been checking out Napalm Death song titles and like a few of them, but no one seems interested in that.... I think "ARMAGEDDON X7" is pretty catchy myself...
FIRE AWAY!!!
I was watching the 3 Vulgar Vids From Hell last night, again and I was wondering what the ATR Phil got tattood on his neck meant. The other thing I was wondering is what's the deal with "May Pop Tires"?
Who can sing and Play guitar?
Why can't I do it? Do i just need to keep practicing or is a natural kind of thing? And if i make the guitar sound like the Melody i'm singing is that Great?
Who else has been @#%$@!!& by insterment exchange!?!
Alright where to begin...
Those guys have the most @#%$@!!& up system ever! The item was posted on Instermentexchange.com as well as ebay. My Dad used "but it now" on a Randall RG-100 ES with included footswitch for $199. But after that, the amp remains on ebay for 5 more days untill the icehole decides if he's gonna ship it to us. Or return our money and ship it to some one on ebay who pushes the bid up OVER $199.
Ok. The amp goes for $305 on ebay. We had tryed to get a bid in at the last second but failed due to a slow computer The Next day my Dad gets an email reading "Congradulations, You won a Randall RG-100 ES for $330!!!." Ok, that was @#%$@!!& up! For one thing, we didn't even win the auction. Another thing, it sold for only $305. So my Dad checked his paypal and only the original $199 was withdrawed. BUT! We checked the tracking number on the amp and its going to a "Thomas" in Illinois!!! So either A: Thomas is one happy boy since me and my Dad bought him a brand new amp or B: This seller got paid twice for his amp! So now my Dads trying to get his refund but couldn't do it by phone. So now he's trying to get it from them via email. If this fails we have to turn to pay pal for help!
UGH!!! All I wanted was crunchy Randall tone but I didn't deserve all of this!
Thanks for letting me vent my frustraition.
These are all my fiddles except for the DFH,Camo Les Paul,and Buzzsaw Les Paul.

Coolest Band Logo's...
by Lurker on Sun Apr 09, 2006 5:31 pm
Who's got the coolest??
Personally, I can't stand the death metal trend of trying so hard to make the logo creepy that you can't even tell what the name of the band is!! That's just silly to me... Don't you want people to be able to see and/or pronounce your band's name?!?
Anyway...I'll kick this off with a couple of my personal faves!!
Now, the idea here is to post a PICTURE of cool band logos.
My first one is pretty obvious & needs no introduction what-so-ever!!
You wanted the best, and you got the best!! the hottest logo in the world:
I also think Sanctuary nailed down a good one:
The one is my signature is alright, I guess...
Whatcha got?

CFH Baby Dean ML...does anybody actually own this?
...man, I saw this in the shop the other day and thought it would be kinda cool, if only for conversation!...does anybody here own and play one?
What's the stats on it, other than it's made in China? Is it worth buying, even for just collectablility (it's not expensive at all!)?
MOTIVE- Worn Down Dream

I snagged this CD from ebay... it kicks raw ass! Randy said it was out of print, so you'd better grab one while you can!
Motive KILLS! I can't wait to see these guys live!
bill lawrence out of hand?
I got one of these probably 2 years ago on ebay for, oh, I don't know, $20. This is ridiculous. They sound exactly the same as a Bill and Becky L500L/R set and they're unpotted.
This is more than the new ones cost!

I'm aware of the bolt-onedness of it, but how much better does it play?

The Penis, requests a raise:
I, the penis, hereby request a raise in salary for the following reasons:
· I do physical labour.
· I work at great depths.
· I plunge head first into everything I do.
· I do not get weekends or public holidays off.
· I work in a damp environment.
· I work in a dark workplace that has poor ventilation.
· I work in high temperatures.
· My work exposes me to contagious diseases.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Response:
Dear Penis:
After assessing your request, and considering the arguments you have raised, the administration rejects your request for the following reasons:
· You do not work 8 hours straight.
· You fall asleep after brief work periods.
· You do not always follow the orders of the management team.
· You do not stay in your designated area and are often seen visiting other locations.
· You do not take initiative, you need to be pressured and stimulated in order to start working.
· You leave your workplace rather messy at the end of your shift.
· You don't always observe necessary safety regulations, such as wearing the correct protective clothing.
· You will retire well before you are 65.
· You are unable to work double shifts.
· You sometimes leave your designated work area before you have completed the assigned task.
And if that were not enough, you have been seen constantly entering and exiting the workplace carrying two suspicious-looking bags.
Im getting one.
He must have took my advice and went hunting with Vice prez Cheney.
Clever title to get you to look...
by Lurker on Mon Apr 10, 2006 6:46 pm
Actually, I had thought of several "appetizing" titles:
"Aren't you hungry?"
"Lone Star State Style"
"Vegetarians BEWARE!!"
"Beef Eater"
"Where's the beef? Here's the BEEF!"
"An RC99 length post!  "
"Burn ban, burn shman." (It's been lifted for bbq, btw.  )
"BBQ Porn!"
"Don't even THINK about opening this thread if you're on dial-up!!"
and on & on.....
Anyway, cooked out yesterday. First time in months. Weather was simply gorgeous here in Ok. A splendid 77 degrees farenheit. Perfect. A little windy, but that's to be expected in these parts...
I figured that the majority of you cats will never have the pleasure of hangin' out in my back yard, I'ld share a bit o' the experience with ya via the internet! Only fitting since this is how we met.
First, ya gotta start with a slammin' dip! It was a roaring success...
Build a fire...
My badass grill lid's back-stop:
My badass, white-trash, redneck grill:
(the basketball and lawnmower are my dogs toys!!  )
Onto the meat prep:
These are some rib-eye steaks that a buddy of mine gave me for being such a BadAss!!
Unfortunately since it had been so long since I Q'ed...I found myself lacking some rather vital ingredients...but, I made do with what I had:
Ummm, now there's some appetizing looking ground beef, huh?
Now, this is some appetizing goo!!
*In my best Guido Sarduce voice: 'at's a spicy meat_a_ball!!
"And how would you like your burger-ball cooked, madam?"
My meat is ready!  Rib-eyes (prepped with two different marinades); burgers and jalepeno/cheese hot links...yummy!
Time to light the fire:
"Shaft" knows what's goin' on!! (& he's sayin' "nanny, nanny, boo, boo, I get bar-b-que!!")
He's such a good boy!!
Tools of the trade:
HERE WE GO!!!
The "one-flip" moment of truth:
The secret ingredient:
TADA!!!
The fire was going so good after I took the food off, it was a shame to let it burn out!! I wished I had had a brisket to through all off up in there!
Sides?? I don't need no stinking side dishes!!!
Man, the steaks were so tender you could cut them with a fork!!
Well, I hope your computer didn't crash and I hope you enjoyed the BillyBadAss Bar-B-Que Experience!!
Ya'll come back now, ya hear??
What genre of guitar playing is 'Sultans of Swing'??
What genre would you consider the guitar playing in 'Sultan's of Swing'?
That song came up today on my mp3 players random play.
What a killer song! Knofler is a great player.
I can't place what kind of guitar playing this is. It doesn't really fit as rock or blues playing. Is there a more obscure genre tag for this song?
I just picked up a pack of these little dealies. They're different now. I've used these things for years and had the problem with the screws being too small and blah blah blah. Not this time. Screw went right in the hole nice and snug. Very good very very good.
X6StringerX gets a new job...
... and more Deans and amps will be in the near future.
Anyways, on to the new job. Starting tomorrow, I'll be working for an outfit called RMCC Pipelining and Oil Field Supply. They're the largest oil field supply company in the United States. Starting out, I'll be doing line locations and GPS mapping in the field, but the owner is hoping that I'll be able to pickup on the actual computer part of the mapping. The company's profits went up 150% from last year to this year and he's looking to bring in another office manager/gps mapper (hopefully me) to help the other guy out. He also wants to send me to school to get certifications for a few different pieces of equipment.
Wish me luck...
So help me out here please!  Thanks!
HELP...what guitar should i buy!!
Hey,
I have saved up about £300 ($525) to put towards a new guitar but i have no idea what i should spend my money on!
I mainly play Metal so a Humbucker is a must. And i would really like it to have a Floyd Rose for divebombing. But i cant seem to find any guitars like this in my price range.
I would be gratefull to anyone who can point me in the right direction.
went to guitar shop...
by Jaxx on Tue Apr 11, 2006 11:37 pm
checked out some guitars from that big Nashville brand...
the natural Explorer was pretty nice...but not up to my Z-Bird even if the prices were way closer....
a Firebird VII looked nice...nice trem....
both of those should have been factory 2nds due to the finish quality....both had ugly, major, easily seen finish crap at wood unions....even with the Firebird being a neck-thru....
i don't think they would qualify as 2nds if they were top MIK...
i just couldn't believe it....even after being disappointed in LPs the last time i went there....guys talk about the Norlin era being bad....jeez...my Norlin LP Custom was way nicer than today's offerings...
the SG Custom was much cleaner and pretty nice...but not THAT nice....neck-dive city...
this is all from a 25 year big time *G* fan....
the new PRS Singlecut Trem was very nice....way overpriced i'm sure....i like my CU24 better and my TC Caddy is still much nicer...
the guitar that most impressed me was another Ibanez AR300...same as last time....it's the MIK model, NOT the chinese AR300c or x....granted, i still haven't plugged one in...
all checking was done unplugged for feel, playability, resonance, sound, and looks...
Big Thanks to Tony Purnell
I'm a newbe to this forum and just wanted to say hello and also to thank Tony Purnell for being so cool about getting instruments to me. We often have a ten minute rap about music we're making and artists we like before getting around to ordering an axe. Some manufactures are, let's say, a bit formal when answering a call from an endorser and Tony is the man! I'm currently recording material for the third Subsonic release and my Hardtail models will be all over it.
I was thinking maybe a noise gate to eq, a little advice would be appreciated.
J.A. Allen Signature Guitar Completed
I know its not a Dean, but I just wanted to share it with you all,
I just got it.
Steve Benford, an Independant luthier, hand built this to my specs, almost every part including the multi fretboard radius.
It has some wild electronics I needed going on, and more. I think he also will make them for others if they want one, or thier own design. He is incredible. The Inlay was his idea, and was just so awesome. They are also very affordable and very high quality!
Here are some pics of it, I love it, sounds great. All the specs are at his site. PM me if you would like to know more about it.
Let me know what you guys and gals think!
WHERE IS THE PICTURE FROM THAT THEY USED ON DIME'S STANDEE?
I WAS REALLY CURIOUS BECAUSE I HAVE ONE.
IT IS THE BADDEST THING IN MY JAM ROOM FOR DAM SURE!!!
I LOVE IT I DEFINETELY SUGGEST GETTING ONE TO ALL OF YOU.
plz help changing pickups for razorback.
So I'm jammin' with my 2-tone razorback and thinkin', man this dimebucker frippin rips, but i could use a little more ooomph in my other pickup instead of the stock one..
So I order an EMG 81 from this store, and later when i recieve it, find out it's an active pickup and will blow up both my pickups if i don't install it right.
I wanna move my dimebucker to the rhythm pickup and the EMG to my bridge. My guitar teacher looked at it and informed me i would kill my pickups if i didnt do it right, but he could do it, it would just take a few hours.
He says he can re-wire it into 2 systems and make sure they don't come in any contact with eachother, but the last time he re-wired a passive and an active pickup it was a few years ago, and is wondering if there's a way to bypass re-wiring the entire guitar.
I know some basses have 2 slots either active or passive and if something similar to that would be in a razorback.
I'm a promotion whore! Here I go self promoting -
I'm being interviewed for the June or July issue of Modern Bride. That magazine has an annual subscription rate of 4 million copies (yeah...million). 99% of thier readers are female.
This will be the biggest magazine I've ever been in. Yes, amazingly, Modern Bride is more popular then heavy metal magazines.
There is a time when you take all your influences, pressure from the scene, and everything you wish for, and put in on hold in the process of creating music...
Thats when you create true timeless music. When you let go and just see what happens....
Its not always going to be perfect, or pretty, it may involve compromise, but the end result will be a step towards doing more.
You can't polish a turd; so sort through the chaff, and don't keep wasting time on old ideas.
Be fluid, always work on something new and interesting, listen to many different forms of music for new inspiration!
Forget about commercialism.
Forget about "getting signed".
Forget about the negative criticism you've received.
Forget about the positive criticism you've received.
Stay humble, because at the same time you talk, you can't also be listening...
Forget about sounding like your favorite band, they've already done that for you!
Stop playing covers.
Old music has all been heard before, and noone won a grammy for "worlds best cover band".
Saying "I have all this music in my head" is sooo 1989! Make it actually happen!
Move forwards ever, and backwards never!
Write and record your own music, the way you see it in your head.
All the world will love you, for exactly who you are.
If they don't, then frankly...... [Capital f]: %$#@! em.
Thats what will give you the meaning and support you need to create more and defy convention, and to make timeless music that changes the face of the earth.
I bought this last night.
Not to bad for $15 @ GC...It's got a little to much treble but it's pretty damn nice.
POLL: what PU's for my new DEAN Caddilac?
OK guys, I just obtained this from fellow forum member ams2ek (Cheers man!).
A killer USA TC Caddilac III, it plays awesoem, low action, perfect fit and finish as with all USA DEANs. plus it has all the DEAN mojo!
Now only thing I am not to happy about is the gold hardware so I am gonna change it out with Black. I am really inspired by Eric Petersson from TESTAMENT on this on so I want black open coil PU's.
I am a long time DiMarzio fan, but I might get something else this time, though I am not shure. My style is old school thrash not unlike TESTAMENT.
Help me out with the poll, of course suggestions are welcome, oh and has anyone else experience with covered PU's losing definition/punch/output? This guitar currently has a Super Distortion/Super 2/Paf setup by DiMarzio, I have loads of them in my other guitars to but without the gold covers and they sound a lot punchier/more definied/biting than these.
Not a big Martin fan but this is one of their coolest models that I couldn't afford anyway. White with ebony
Zebra Pickups....some info, if you know...
.....how do the zebra pups in the 79 MLF compare to the rest of the Dean line up of Zebras?..I know that the FBD ML's have Seymour Duncan Zebra's, but what's so different about them? I figure that the only pickup change on that guitar was the bridge pup to a Dimebucker (which we all know is quite a beast).
I'm just wondering about the quality of the Zebra pups in general...maybe in comparison to other stock pups on other guitars.
Thanks!
Forum question, how to view my posts
On other boards, I just click on a user CP function to view what threads I'm involved in, but here I have to search everytime...there must be an easier way!....could anyone point me in the right direction!...thanks!
Worst Live Show You Ever Saw...
This one's easy for me:Megadeth-Killing Is My Business Tour,Mountaineers Club,Seattle.The whole band was so high that it just sounded like garbage.I'm bummed that the only time I 've seen them that it was such a letdown.
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) - Confessed al-Qaeda conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui said Thursday it made his day to hear accounts of Americans' suffering from the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and he would like to see similar attacks "every day."
Taking the witness stand for the second time in his death-penalty trial Thursday, Moussaoui mocked a Navy sailor who wept on the stand as she described the death of two of her subordinates.
"I think it was disgusting for a military person" to cry, Moussaoui said of the testimony of Navy Lt. Nancy McKeown. "She is military, she should expect people at war with her to want to kill her."
Asked if he was happy to hear her sobbing, he said, "Make my day."
Moussaoui said he had "no regret, no remorse" about the 9/11 attacks. Asked by prosecutor Rob Spencer if he would like to see it happen again, Moussaoui responded: "Every day until we get you."
Moussaoui also said on cross-examination that he is convinced President Bush will free him before the end of his term and that he will return to London.
Prosecutor Rob Spencer tried several times to get Moussaoui to say he didn't really believe that, but Moussaoui was insistent.
"I haven't doubted it for one single second," said Moussaoui, adding that the vision came to him in a dream just like his dream of flying a plane into the White House.
He also argued that he could not get a fair trial so close to the Pentagon and he criticized U.S. support for Israel.
Moussaoui testified that he believes his court-appointed lawyers are working against him and that if he'd had control over his defense, he would have argued that he should escape the death penalty and be available for a prisoner swap if American troops are captured overseas.
Moussaoui, as defiant on the witness stand as he has been at the defendant's table throughout the trial, testified against the advice of his court-appointed lawyers and attacked them before the jury that must decide whether to sentence him to death or to spend life in prison.
Offering a lengthy explanation of why he hates Americans, Moussaoui criticized the United States' support for Israel. He said Muslims have been at war with Christians and Jews for centuries. Israel, he said, is "just a missing star in the American flag."
Moussaoui told jurors that Islam requires Muslims to be the world's superpower as he flipped through a copy of the Koran searching for verses to support his assertions. One he cited requires non-Muslim nations to pay a tribute to Muslim countries.
"We have to be the superpower. You have to be subdued. We have to be above you," Moussaoui said. "Because Americans, you are the superpower, you want to eradicate us."
At one point, defense lawyer Gerald Zerkin asked Moussaoui if he thought he was helping his case when he testified earlier that he planned to pilot a plane into the White House on Sept. 11.
"I was putting my trust in God, so from an Islamic point of view, yes," Moussaoui responded, acknowledging that non-Muslims might view his testimony as harmful to his case.
At several points during his afternoon testimony, Moussaoui acknowledged that he has lied when it has suited his interests throughout the course of his four-year case.
Defense lawyers have said Moussaoui is lying about his role in Sept. 11 - the worst terrorism attack ever on U.S. soil - in the hopes of achieving martyrdom through execution.
Moussaoui testified Thursday that "for the last four years, I have been fighting" against the death penalty. He said he considered the consequences of his previous testimony about his role in Sept. 11 and "decided to just put my trust in God, tell the truth and time will tell."
Assailing his court-appointed lawyers, Moussaoui said: "You have put your vested interest in keeping this case in your hands, above my interest to save my life."
Moussaoui suggested they preferred the fame that comes from handling a high-profile trial rather than seeking a change of venue to move the case away from Virginia, a state with a reputation for jurors amenable to the death penalty.
In April 2002, when he was serving as his own defense counsel, Moussaoui filed a motion seeking to move the trial, citing an overrepresentation of government employees in the area. He also said there was more intense media attention in the northern Virginia area due to the Sept. 11 attack on the Pentagon, which is a short distance from the courthouse.
U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema, however, rejected the claim and said Moussaoui would be able to get an impartial jury.
Zerkin had asked him if he believed that his defense team was in a conspiracy to kill him. Moussaoui responded that they have been engaged in "criminal non-assistance."
Earlier, Moussaoui's lawyers opened his defense by seeking to convince jurors to spare his life and put him in a place from which he could never escape.
James E. Aiken, the first defense witness in the second phase of Moussaoui's death-penalty trial, said Moussaoui would always require the highest level of supervision and would be isolated not only from the outside world but also from other prisoners.
"I don't care how good he is ... I don't care how compliant he is. He will be in the security envelope as long as he lives," Aiken said.
Moussaoui's defense team is expected to argue in the next few days that his life should be spared because of his limited role in the 9/11 attacks. They plan to present evidence that he is mentally ill and that his execution would only play into his dream of martyrdom.
Moussaoui is the only person charged in this country in connection with the Sept. 11 attacks. The jury deciding his fate has already declared him eligible for the death penalty by determining that his actions caused at least one death on Sept. 11.
Even though he was in jail in Minnesota at the time of the attacks, the jury ruled that lies told by Moussaoui to federal agents a month before the attacks kept them from identifying and stopping some of the hijackers.
Question for you gun enthusiasts out there....
by harley on Fri Apr 14, 2006 9:11 pm
I'm gonna purchase my first pistol early next week and have narrowed my choice to 2. I have a pretty good idea of which I'm gonna get but want some other opinions more experienced than mine.
Here are the choices:
1. Colt 1991A1 .45 Auto. Used but not abused. $500.
2. Glock .45 Auto. Used but never fired  $525 and has original box and extra mag. I think
I have a Remington 12guage that I will either trade or sell so my out of pocket will only be a few hundred bucks.
Thoughts?
Ugh, get a fargin life...
Woo Hoo I made it to 100 Party Time!
I got the Icon I scored off fleabay a couple days ago. You may have already seen the listing photos I put up after I won.
So, supposedly this thing a piezo built into the trem. There are wires leading from the trem, but do not go to anything. There isn't even an additional XLR or 1/4" jack for the piezo output. The pups are some sort of cheapo coil tapable set too. The listing touted them as being active, but it turns out there is just a booster installed. Whoever did that routed out a seperate battery cavity, and did a good job at it. It looks factory.
Needless to say, the electronics are a mess. It works right now, but I am ripping everything out as soon as school is over with in a couple weeks. I am thinking a JB/59, Jazz/59, PearlyGate/PearlyGate, or maybe a Dimarzio set. New pots as well-- 1000k. Anyother suggestions are welcome and encouraged.
I am getting rid of that stupid booster, but there is an on off switch for that. Removing that toggle will leave a 3/8" hole, so I 'll glue a short dowell section in, match the laquer color and hope that the repair looks decent. lol.
She plays quite nice-- great fret job. Fretboard needs to be oiled. Nice well balanced sound. Not as dark as my Evo SS, which I love the tone of; that SS was made from the right block o' wood. The tone is nice though, and I haven't even put it into my XXX yet. I just played it for a little while through a Danelectro microamp.
Neck carve is a wide C. Pretty nice. Similar to the PRS CE neck carve.
The SN is E712318. Any additional information you have on the guitar would be welcome. I was not introduced to Deans until 2001- the last year the Icon was in production. I am going to email Dean and ask about this supposed piezo and if the booster was an option or definetely an aftermarket job.
Once I get her fixed up I'll post a more thorough review. I also leave you with some pictures of the tragedy in the electronics cavity. Over all, I am pretty happy with getting this for $191.26-- usually the Icons go for $3-350. Once I replace the electronics, I'll probably be up in that range.
ANTHRAX, BEYOND FEAR and POWERVICE last night!
So I was at the show last night in Tilburg Holland, damn damn damn.......AWESOME!
Openers were POWERVICE from HOlland, very cool NWoBHM inspired band, especially like the two first MAIDEN records with Di'Anno singing. Their demo has been very well received and they made a decent impression.
BEYOND FEAR, well not really my cuppa Tea, but I have seen a lot worse opening acts! I would have preferred OVER KILL or something. BUt this definately wasn't bad, Tim can still sream and sing very well. The songs were a very OK mixture of old school metal a la PRIEST with some newer influences like PANTERA, NEVERMORE and so on. They did a short medley from some Ripper-era PRIEST songs and an ICED EARTH song and a lotta songs from their pcoming debut album, solid performance!
Then ANTHRAX, one damn energy bolt from the beginning to the encore, setlist was:
Among the Living
Metal Thrashing Mad
Got the Time
Caught in a Mosh
AIR
Skeletons in the Closet
Antisocial
NFL
Medusa
Indians
Be All, End All
I'm the Man
I am the Law
So about the same as the other shows :rock: :rock:. But shocked to see they ommitted After Shock!! I was really looking forward to hearing that song live, they still played about 85 minutes which, because of the high energy level, was acceptable. Everybody was dead on his/her feet after 85 minutes of moshpit!
The club which they played is the largest club in Holland, it wasn't sold out but it was FULL, the balcony wasn't open but downstairs it was packed must have been at least 1,500 people, about 4 times more than when I saw here on the WCFYA tour. There was a killer moshpit from the first to the last song, man I am still hurting over my whole body. Joey seemed to fit in a lot better now than last year, Danny still loooked like he was on another planet, but he seemed to really enjoy himself playing with a smile on his face the entire gig! Frankie....well....like always baging his ass off, geez I don't understand why his neck isn't worn out yet! Charlie was also kickass like always as was Scott. Musical is was darn solid, tight and vocal performance was killer, especially Medusa was awesome. Killer to hear "skeletons" live though it would have been cool if they added some more rare songs, I definately agree to the sentiment they should not tour again after this tour without new material.
But the band finally worked as a UNITY and if they remain in this form we can expect a killer new album, Joey was awesome as a frontman holding the crowd in his grip. goofing around with some guys in the front rows and stuff. But I still think ANTHRAX guitar tones SUCKED! I dunno what those guys are using but it sounded like a cheap Solid State practise amp with a BOSS Metal Zone in front, I think they should do something about it, Scott is known for some of the best rhythm tones in metal, but what happened to him lately? he was awesome stage presence wise and played tight as hell...but PLEASE do something about the guitar tone. Overall the sound was very clear and loud which of course only emphasized this problem. BUt all in all, it was ultra enjoyable, and I'll be seeing them again tonight :rock: :rock:
THE THRAX IS BACK!
oh, not much useable photo's but I will post what I have:
My USA custom Razorback
I`m gonna get this made, Dean has agreed to make it and it will be the first Razorback with a matching flamed headstock
What do you guys think?
It will be a purpleburst flame top with the rest of the guitar metallic purple with airbrished rust/distressed finish.
I`m thinking about different inlays but I can`t think of anything cool.
Huge thanks to Tormentor for all his hard work in producing the image, and Tim at Centre Stage Music for convincing Dean Z to make it for me
I saw them last night and they rocked!!!!! This years lineup is: Frank Gambale (guitar), Steve Smith (drums), Baron Brown (bass) and Tom Coster (keys & accordian).
All these guys were at the top of their game last night. We went for both sets and I highly recommend that because while the first set was superb they came out and burned in the second. This is the tightest rhythm section I've seen in years and Gambale just smokes the fretboard he's probably one of the best guitarists out there today hands down.
Each of these players comes with an incredible pedigree and while the club has great acoustic their sound man really had them dialed in - the sound and tone was awesome. Frank is a very cool guy and spent about 20 minutes talking with the four of us after the first set - that's very generous if you ask me. He chatted some more after the second as well.
So - if you want to see some of the best check 'em out. This level of playing really separates the men from the boys. They might be wrapping this one up (19 shows in 20 days), but do a search - you'll be glad you did!!!
My first custom Dean ML
by Baco on Sat Apr 15, 2006 5:21 pm
After having to pass on the Razorback Rust I really wanted a guitar with a Floyd Rose on it. Since this is a Dean Custom Shop option now and the times are getting better I ordered myself a custom ML.
This is my version of the Southern Cross if you will:
* Time Capsule ML
* Flame top with trans natural finish (tight flames)
* Big, matching Headstock with black Dean logo
* Trans natural finish on the back of the body, neck and headstock
* Abalone block inlays
* Black, single binding on body, neck and headstock
* Black Hardware with original Floyd Rose
Still thinking about the humbuckers (Dimebag + Super Distortion), but the frame is set  Any ideas?
Now I just have to wait
Thanks to Dave at B&T for making this happen
to whomever suggested moving the strap button....
THANK YOU!!!!!
i can actually play my Epiphone Explorer now.
they had the button on the side above the neck join... now its behind the neck like on an ML (maybe Zs to i don't know never seen one in person)
neck used to dive to the ground... if i let go it could slip all the way till it was 45 degrees below horizontal...
now it can't go below horizontal and stays where i put it... i held it at 45 above and it stayed i moved it to horizontal and it stayed....
once again THANK YOU!!!!
A buisiness idea?
I don't know if this kinda stuff exists in the US (probably does), but if it doesn't, here is a sure way to make some money.
You buy a lot of t-shirts and sweaters in small sizes, then you label them with stuff like "my mom is the coolest" or "my dad roks" or whatever and behold, every single parent in your country will buy from you.
Write stuff like that on bibs also and incrase your profit by 20%
This is going on over here and as a father of 3 (two under 5) I have shiteloads of this crap.
I would be afraid to even bid on it if i had the cash, looks like someone routed the cavity for the kahler backwards.
to put a 25.0 neck on a body routed for a 25.5 scale neck and make it work?
thanks
Weird Things happen to me all the time. So much that when it does I think nothing of it. I'm always finding stuff.
Today I went to Winn-Dixie minding my own business to pick-up some beer and wings. I needed some limes so off to the produce section I go.
I'm checking out the limes when, I spied something green in a baggie on the floor. At first I thought someone dropped a bag of calantrio ( sp ) or parsley.
After a little kick with my sandled clad foot I realized someone has misplaced about half a .oz of Willie Nelsons finest.
I after a quick cursory visual search, I snacthed it up and headed for the ceral isle.
Using a box of Capt.Crunch as my cover I examined the contents of the large baggie. My nostrils confirmed it was in fact some of Florida's finest.
The smile on my face quickly turned to a frown when I thought about all the security camera's watching me....Damn what do I do now, with tears in my eyes I located the manager and told him what I found and turned it over to him.
Driving home from Winn Dixie I got pulled over by two locals and had my lisence check, told I ran A red light then let go.
My luck wasn't finding it, my luck was knowing that even I can't be that lucky.
Hey guys. I just got back from a week in my hometown in TN. While visiting with my Dad, I took some photos of a few project guitars he's been working on. I told him this would be a great forum to receive a bit of constructive criticism from.... so, with that said, check them out and let me know what you think.
Solid Mahogany body with Maple inlays
Solid Cherry headstock with Grover tuners
That's a Schaller roller bridge and a Bill Lawrence L500. The L500 is wired with a coil-cut.
22-fret fingerboard is made out of African Wenge. I love the "tiger-stripe" look of this wood. It has some incredible sustain as well, and is much harder than rosewood.
Here's a "Les Paul" style body blank.
Here's the 5-piece maple neck he's working on. He used strips of the African Wenge in the neck. The headstock is flame maple.
Another body blank.
Anyone checked out the Vox Brian May AC30BM?
For the Brian May fans, here you go. It doesn't get any simpler than this - power switch, standby switch, and a volume knob.
Run Over by the RIAA Don...t Tap the Glass
By Cassi Hunt
Either since the day I visited my first aquarium or the day Goldie came into my family’s life, our parents have told us not to tap the glass of the fish tank. It’s cruel to Goldie — I understand and respect that. I mean, heck, I am a vegetarian. But would we have many qualms over a little water perturbation if Goldie were, say, a bloodthirsty shark? I’d knock on that glass to the near-cracking point. And in that spirit, I decided to call up my new friend at the RIAA negotiation hotline again. (Hereafter I’ll refer to her as Bowie, which means “yellow haired,” as I’m pretty sure that’s the case.)
Last time I spoke with Bowie, the conversation was pretty much over after she named $3750 as the settlement amount. (I haven’t actually agreed to settle yet.) So when I called her again, I asked — again — about how to negotiate that amount. I counted on the fact that self-important types wouldn’t be inclined to remember a lowly pirate like me. Bowie didn’t disappoint. She launched into her spiel about how the RIAA doesn’t negotiate settlements. I told her that it was too much to ask for thousands of dollars from a college student who only makes just enough from term and summer employment to still come out a couple thousand in debt.
Bowie replied that the RIAA was oh-so-kind enough to offer a six month repayment plan. At this point, I was beginning to speculate on Bowie’s hair color, and decided to switch tactics. I concisely and calmly explained how the situation was ridiculous: they weren’t offering a settlement, they were issuing an ultimatum! Let us screw you over gently now, or with chains and whips in court. Surely there must be some flexibility for individual cases.
Well, she replied, they do make allowances if something like a medical emergency comes up. Now we’re getting somewhere. “And who would I talk to about a situation like that, because I’d like to talk to them now.”
“Me,” she replied. Ever feel like your nose has just been flattened by something large and solid? I mean, besides the doors at 77 Mass. Ave. “But you’re not in a situation like that.”
Oh, but I am. The Institvte has left me with severe bouts of p-set-induced insomnia and a case of stuck-to-desk-itis that recurs two to three times in a semester, then again just before break. And my wallet certainly takes a hit for it.
But as much as I tried to argue that I was in as unique a situation as someone with medical expenses, there was no getting through. Bowie even had the audacity to say, “In fact, the RIAA has been known to suggest that students drop out of college or go to community college in order to be able to afford settlements.”
Are. You. Sh!tting. Me.
There you have it, fellow Techsters: proof of the fantastic levels of absurdity to which the RIAA attack has sunk. The Recording Industry of America would rather see America’s youth deprived of higher education, forever marring their ability to contribute personally and financially to society — including the arts — so that they may crucify us as examples to our peers. To say nothing of wrecking our lives in the process. I finally understand what the RIAA meant when they told me “stealing music is not a victimless crime” — the victims hang for all to see.
Please, RIAA — if any competent representative happens to enjoy flipping through The Tech — please tell me Bowie is a moronic tool who can’t help what the Superior Gray Coverage Golden Blonde hair dye does to her mental facilities. Please tell me you actually care about the futures of the age demographic that buys most of your music (http://www.riaa.com/news/marketingdata/pdf/2004consumerprofile.pdf). Your evil pirates are people too, people who enjoy music and almost always still purchase it legitimately. Each has an individual life and circumstances that deserve consideration, if not for the sake of empathy for your fellow man, then for the sake of business sense.
Sure, if you commit a crime against someone, you should be held accountable. But I find it horrifying that anyone would single-mindedly and without compassion process people like a meat grinder set to purée. So while the RIAA continues to play the part of shark, I’ll continue to stand behind the glass, tapping away, wondering which of us is on display.
Drummer CHIPPED my V!! HELP!
Ok I've got an motorcycle airbrush artist guy to repaint the V but how do I smooth it out with this big chip in it? I left the pics big for detail. It's about the size of my thumb.
Does anybody think it would kick ass if Dean would put out higher end versions of MLs, Razorbacks, Vs, (at least). With standard 24 fret ebony boards, neck through, thin U profile, cut out heal (i.e. ESP neck through heals) as well as higher end parts. I think those would be some badass guitars. I'm not talking about just a limited run, like a full line. What do you guys think? Plus a little more attention to the small things (like on my razorback, the bridge pup wont lower, because there's not a route for the wires to go in under the pup.)
Does anybody know where I could find a badass ring? I'm looking for something to use like Zakk does. Thanks in advance.
Wats ur favourite type of Neck Construction?
I personally like the set neck..
Set Neck Czech ML, Do they exist?
I don't think I've ever seen one, anyone got picture to dispute me on this?
Time for a rant....sorry, not guitar related, but important
Now we all know that being in the military involves some, and when i say some, I actually mean an unbearable amount, of BS. Well this latest load of crap has really gotten to me. Let me explain to you what ORM is. As the Navy would like us to believe:" ORM stands for Operational Risk Management and simply put, it is a way of approaching the task at hand with a better awareness of the obstactles along the way that may cause us to fail. Furthermore, it allows us to control the risk of encountering these obstacles, improving the potential for mission success. The beauty of this process is it can be used both on and off duty. Wether you are evaluating the risks associated with a new piece of quipment in the workplace or evaluating the risks of swimming in an unmarked area, you can use the same decision making process to determine the best course of action."
What a load of crap. That sounds fine in theory, but in practice it leaves a lot behind. I bring this up becuase I am spending my Easter sunday trying to get this stupid online course on said decision making process done so they dont yell at me on monday for it. Why do they make us do it? I thought you'd never ask. They make us do it because it is a check in the block to remove them from as much liability as possible. Now they can say, "Well we gave you the training and you refused to use it so you are at fault." Now all of a sudden there's one of us lower ranking individuals that get hung and not the icehole that was in charge of the whole messed up operation in the first place. Funny how that works.
There is a bright side to all of this though. I've learned that ORM serves another purpose too. It shows us where the priorities lay for the powers that be. For instance, we just returned from a 7 month deployment to the desert. What did a lot of us do? Well some of us were driving regular International Brand semi-tractors, like the ones you see all over the highway, around Iraq. While others, including myself, stayed on the camp, where we only got the occasional IDF(rockets and mortar) attacks, supporting the vehicles that were going out and hauling loads. What were we hauling? Well lets see, that consisted of sand(yeah...hauling sand in the desert), rocks, styrofoam, and lets not forget the occasional treadmill and recumbant exercise bike for some little gym on a camp somewhere in iraq. Go Navy, ppppfffsssshhh! What I'm getting at is that not only were we hauling things that you find laying on the ground all over the place in that crap hole, but we were doing it with beat up, unsafe equipment. The rest of the military uses Oshkosh trucks designed for this kind of duty and are armored to the gills, but not us. It was my responsibility to us a plasma cutter to cut up old armor from humvees and 7 ton MTVR's and adapt it to fit on our 20 ton internationals. Now they make armor kits for these 20 tons but when I asked why dont we get those the only response what that there was no money to pay for it. Well, I could understand that, but why do they not have the money for something like protecting their troops, but they have money to buy brand new M4 assault rifles for certain office individuals simply for the fact that it will fit under their desk better? How this all comes together is that ORM showed me that they do not care what happens to us as long as the mission gets done. We asked the chain of command to apply ORM to the idea of driving insufficiently armored trucks, because when we did it, ORM told us not to drive the damn truck! They simply said that the mission outweighed the risk of one of our guys getting killed. Well thanks, nice to know that we are almost important as sand. Sweet! I guess we're moving up in the world.
To give you guys a visual here are some pictures that either I or one of my friends took so you have a better idea what i'm talkin about.
Here's what the rest of the military uses, notice all the armor and the sleeper cab. Our 20 ton drivers had to find a way to sleep in a bucket seat, if they even had time to sleep.
Three good examples of why you need armor on a truck you plan to drive in Iraq. The second piture is a 15 ton International, if the driver had been a bit taller, the piece of shrapnel that came up through the floor would've killed him.
Would you feel safe?
I saw brother Jayba and The Road Dogs last night -
by Mike9 on Sun Apr 16, 2006 8:01 pm
Went up to see brother Jay and The Road Dogs last night in Albany. These guys play classic rock that rocks!!!! - Jay is a great bassist and a great guy. The guitarist is very talented and can really rip it up. Jay and the drummer made for a tight rhythm section and the singer has a good range with the pipes - everyone in the band has years of experience behing them.
All in all meeting Jay & his family was way cool and a good time was had by all. Too bad some of the other DOA'ers that live in this neck of the woods couldn't make it.
Guitar makeover!
by Levy on Sun Apr 16, 2006 8:07 pm
hihi
Had the privilage of seeing Rick Derringer, Edgar winter and Johnny Winter last night. It was pretty good. Rick Derringer was good. Didn't recognize most of his stuff though. He has soooo much music. He did RR hoochie coo, and Hang on Sloopy. He did SRV's Pride and joy (Derringer plays on an SRV tribute cd). Got to meet him, got a hand shake and an autograph. He sounded good, still a hell of a player.
Then Edgar Winter group came on ...WHOA!! F'in awesome. What a band. His bass player and guitar player were out of this world. Frankenstein was unreal live. He did a great set mixed with some funk, blues and free ride....
Then Johnny Winter  . This guy should really retire, or not charge money. I realize the impact he has had on blues and blues/rock and I give him all the props and respect he deserves, but man!!! He was way out of time, his guitar was way too loud, and played the same licks over and over again. I was kinda impressed with his voice for such an old guy. Although I couldn't understand a word he said. I was really disapointed in him. They had to help him out on the stage and everything.
I was really looking forward to them all playing at the end. They only did one song together, and 95% of the song, everyone was trying to get Derringers amp to work. He almost missed his solo. He jumped in just in time then the song was over. Man i was pissed. You'd think they would do a jam or another song to make up for the technical problem.
Overall it was pretty good. Lots of good musicianship on one stage. Not sure what promted this "reunion". It was a one date only as far as I know.
Hi, my strings are binding up in the nut. If I try to tune them I have to pull on the string for it to move. Anyone have any suggestions to remedy it? Thanks in advance for the help.
Texas halts public intoxication arrests
Good thing this didnt last too long.
Apr 14, 1:08 PM (ET)
SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Reuters) - A controversial Texas program to send undercover agents into bars to arrest drunks has been halted after a firestorm of protest from the public.
The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission has "temporarily suspended" what it called "Operation Last Call" even though it still believes it was worthwhile, commission spokeswoman Carolyn Beck said on Thursday.
"We understand that everything has room for improvement, this included," she said.
She said most of those arrested in the sting operations had been "dangerously drunk" and might have tried to drive if TABC agents had not busted them.
The TABC has launched an internal investigation of Operation Last Call and a Texas Legislature committee will hold hearings on the program on Monday.
The TABC announced the program in late August but it received little attention at the time.
But recent media reports that drunks were being arrested in bars provoked both ridicule and anger around the world and, perhaps more importantly, complaints from hotels, restaurants and bars in Texas who said it could hurt business.
The program drew support from groups such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
The Houston Chronicle found that 1,740 people across the state had been arrested for public intoxication in Operation Last Call.
Dean getting more popular?
Did anyone see in the new Guitar World in the Vulgar Display page (second from the back) that Eric Petersen of Testament had a Caddy as his main guitar, and a V as one of his backups? If this is nothing new, sorry. I thought he was a Gibson player? Anyway I think it is awesome.
FW: Gas Prices: Will this work?
by Lurker on Mon Apr 17, 2006 11:24 am
I've received this email twice already (from different people) so maybe there is something to this...hell, it can't hurt.
Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit close to $4.00 a
gallon
>by next summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come
down?
>We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip Hollsworth
offered
>this good idea.
>
>This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day"
>campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies
just
>laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt"
ourselves
>by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it
was a
>problem for them.
>
>BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can
really
>work. Please read on and join with us! By now you're probably thinking
>gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently
>$2.79 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and
the
>OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of
gas
>is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach
them
>that BUYERS control the
>marketplace..... not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more
each
>day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see
the
>price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not
>purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.
How?
>Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we
CAN
>have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price
war.
>
>Here's the idea:
>
>For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two
biggest
>companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling
any
>gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their
>prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.
>
>But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and
>Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out at
this
>point.... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach
millions
>of people.
>
>I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us sends it to at least
ten
>more (30 x 10 =3D 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more
(300
>x 10 =3D 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth
>group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers. If
>those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each,
then
>30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level
further,
>you guessed it..... THREE
> >>>>HUNDRED MILLION >>>>PEOPLE!!!
>
>Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all. (If
you
>don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is
>send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a
>mathematician. But I am, so trust me on this one.)
>
>How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to
ten
>more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could
>conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!
>
>I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you?
>
>Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you,
>please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL
>UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN.
>
>THIS CAN REALLY WORK.
