cabinent wiring & speaker identification
im rearranging the speakers on my halfstack cabinent, right now the bass speakers are on top and the treble speakers are on the bottom and i want to switch that, the cabinent is a slanted one so i cant just turn it upside down and i just wanted some advice from you guys...
now i think the speakers are wired in series circuit clockwise from the upper-righthand speaker(while looking at the front)
now the wierd thing is that the cabinent was manufactured by asi, and one of the original asi speakers are still in it, its a 12" 8 ohm 50 watt, but the other three are different, they have large black rectangular magnets, and no identification to what ohm or watt rating, they are 12" as well, my mom got it for me for my 21st birthday and she got it from my uncle who says the speakers are jbl's, i think...
now the head im using is a randall rg100es 120 watt rms
let me know what you guys think, and help me identify these speakers, numbers are:
12kpg8hx 67-7930 treble
12kpgb8b 67-8122 bass
the 12 probably represents speaker size and the 8 is the ohm rating, i still need watt rating
one more thing, do you use an instrument or a speaker cable when connecting the head to the cabinent, im pretty sure its a speaker cable but let me know
thanks
Guitar porn........Post any and all ya have
My wife is awesome. She got me a 68 re-issue Les Paul Custom Historic. Not a Dean, I know, but it is still killer. I love that fire burst finish. It plays like a dream with the quick and slim 60's profile. Tell me what ya think!
Howdy all-
Just thought I'd share this... I quit drinking on Halloween after becoming extremely mentally unhealthy. It's been six months, and during that first week, all I had was the internet. Thus, this place became a serious mental sanctuary/distraction. Channelling my energies into guitars and the discussion of them, particularly Deans, has seriously changed my life. Thanks to all, and post me some congratulatory pron!
Guild Bladerunner guitar - odd, very odd - and PRICEY

What a differnece a Cabinet makes.. mike-3....GC-0
as some of you that i talk with often know that i have been in the looking for a cab so friday I traded my behringer ultra stack cab straight accross for a Used 4x12 AMPEG guitar cabinet at Guitar Center ( i love those freekin morons)
i thought it had all celestion 30's but i was surprized to find that it is loaded with 2 celestion 30's and 2 75's and is very well made out of what looks like thick azz maple or birch ply... the behringer had jensens and some mystery wood..
the cab it self is in pretty good shape.. physically.(needs a good cleaning).. but functionally it is so far above the behringer that i cant even measure it..
i can get the rumbling low end and the nice tight highs and gain that i am looking for.. this thing makes my rig (carvin x100 tube head and a bbe sonic maximizer) sound like i spent a fortune on it when in reallity i have less than $300 in it. call me a cheap wad but i am happy with it.. Finally!
Digital Wah on post production
Does anyone know of a decent digital wah or something that will work after I record a part? I am going into the studio this weekend and wondered if anyone had any experience with this sort of thing. I have one phrase in particular that I need a wah on. This is repeated throughout the song. I'd never be able to completely pull it off live and am not sure I could learn how to use a wah by this weekend. The part could really use it. Anyone know of any digital patches that might do the trick?
Some old porn picture I found

Thrash Domination 2006 TOKIO
I freaking wish I could go there!
VENOM, DEATH ANGEL, SODOM and ONSLAUGHT will be teaming up for the Thrash Domination 2006 two-day mini-festival run on September 16-17 at Club Citta in Tokyo, Japan.
VENOM's new album, "Metal Black", was released in North America on April 4 via Sanctuary Records. The CD was mixed at the Townhouse Studios in London and contains 14 new songs.
VENOM recently recorded a session for the BBC at London's Maida Vale studios. The session, which was broadcast on Radio 1 on April 11 during Mike Davies' "Rock Show", marked the second BBC recording by VENOM since 1985, when they laid down four tracks for Tommy Vance's "Friday Rock Show".
VENOM have lined up a number of European dates during the coming months. A late-summer U.S. run with DEVILDRIVER is also said to be in the works.

Steve Smyth Ill...
by JACKHOLE on Tue May 02, 2006 10:41 pm
I hope he gets better he's a great guitarist...
NEVERMORE guitarist Steve Smyth (ex-TESTAMENT) — who was recently diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure (the result of a congenital birth defect) — has posted the following message on his official web site:
"Hi, everyone. Just wanted to clue everyone in as to my situation, and why you will see me in very limited fashion onstage with NEVERMORE in the coming months.
"Around mid-October 2005, I was in a London hospital, undergoing arthroscopic surgery for my right knee, which turned out had been badly sprained during our last headlining show in Athens, Greece two days earlier.
"During my stay at the hospital, numerous blood tests were done, one of which revealed that the level of protein in my body, better known in medical terms as creatinine, was raised well beyond a normal level, 4.9. Normal is 1-2. I was advised by doctors there to see my MD as soon as I got back home, which was following our tour with OPETH in the U.S., around late November 2005.
"After several blood tests, urine tests, and ultimately, X-rays, ultrasounds, and CT scans, doctors came to a few conclusions about my condition. It was revealed that I was born with one kidney, and because of a congenital birth defect, I had an obstruction on my ureter, which was causing my solitary kidney to 'eat' itself over the years, to a point where it is now 85% destroyed. Now, as of late April 2006, I am facing 'complete renal failure' within 6 months. This is called end stage renal failure, or CKD, of which I am on the edge of Stage 4-5. I have had 'stent placement' surgery, around 3 months ago, and that seemed to help things for a bit, but things haven't really changed either.
I have been advised by my doctors that I could continue to tour, but that I might not make it through the next one, which would be the IN FLAMES tour. I have had both a doctor and a registered nurse/transplant coordinator tell me that I could go ahead with touring, but this 'failure' could occur at any time, and through the process of weekly blood tests, I would be aware well in advance of when to 'come off the road.'
"To be fair to myself and out of concern for my lovely fiancée, family, my closest friends, and out of respect and fairness to the band, our crew, and especially the fans of NEVERMORE, I decided it is best not to pursue this tour. However, I will perform at the European Festivals in June, Gods of Metal (Italy), Rock Hard (Germany), Rott Fest (Ireland), and Sweden Rock Festival, after which time doctors will have determined the next step in treatment for me.
"The suggested treatment is a kidney transplant, for which I have so far comprised a list of a few willing donors, and hope to be able to find more along the way. The wait time for a deceased donor is 3-5 years (in the event that my list of donors does not work out), with the worst case scenario being that I will end up on dialysis, waiting that entire time to receive a kidney.
"In the meantime, I intend to carry on developing my internet teaching business, pursuing a teaching career at a top notch music school (those that know me know I have been a private teacher for the last 20 years in my 'off time'), and to finish my instrumental project album, 'The EssenEss Project', with Steve Hoffman and Atma Anur, which is already about 75% tracked. For more info on both, please don't hesitate to visit www.stevesmyth.com or send me an email. I'll gladly add you to my e-mailing list!
"The band has hired on Chris Broderick [JAG PANZER] to fill in for my absence during this time, and I have complete faith that Chris will go out there and kick ass and do a great job!
"To really be completely honest about how I feel physically, and mentally, I have to admit, I feel fine! I have had to quit drinking, smoking, and change my diet, all pretty big changes, and all not without their challenges! But I have met each one along the way, head-on, and succeeded, the same way I have approached, and intend to beat, this! I do feel tired every now and again, but it feels no different than the way I have always felt. Maybe because I have had this for my entire life and not known it, and am therefore used to it. That's the funny thing I suppose about CKD. You don't really know you have it, and as long as doctors detect it early, they can do something about it. As for how I feel mentally, I am upset about not being able to tour, which is something I still love to do, and something I think a lot of musicians out there take for granted.
"I love travelling, playing for people, meeting new faces, and seeing old familiar ones as well, seeing new places, and revisiting old ones! I am going to miss that a lot, and definitely cherish what I have experienced in my 'metal' life so far, and can only hope I will be able to do more in the future. I also don't take for granted the time I have spent in various bands I have been in, including my time in VICIOUS RUMORS, TESTAMENT, DRAGONLORD, and NEVERMORE. Many memories, a lot of great times, working with a ton of awesome musicians and incredible music industry people along the way, recording some killer metal albums, and a lot of great gigs/tours I'll never forget, getting to meet/share stages with my heroes, working with great musical instrument companies, and working with awesome guitar magazines, the list goes on and on!
"I will say this for now: I will fight this, and I will be back!
"If anyone out there has some information to share, or just wants to give a shout, please don't hesitate to e-mail me at steve@stevesmyth.com. I'd love to hear from you."
NEVERMORE announced last week that their bass player and one of the founding members Jim Sheppard will soon be undergoing a minor procedure for Crohn's Disease, a condition he's managed for over 15 years. Unable to perform with the band during the first part of their upcoming tour with IN FLAMES, Sheppard will be temporarily replaced longtime friend James MacDonough (ex-MEGADETH, ICED EARTH).
NEVERMORE, who just wrapped up a series of dates with ARCH ENEMY, will be supporting DISTURBED across Europe this fall. After their touring activity the band will be taking time off to write the follow-up to last year’s critically acclaimed album "This Godless Endeavor".
Kicks ass, just got one and........... Lets just say many asses were kicked today!

So I finally ended up getting a new pickup, and it was a Dimebucker from fellow forum member Jimmy. Got here in good time and I went on the search to get it installed.
The guy at GC was 2 weeks behind on repairs so I headed somewhere else.
Found a little place called The Music Center, who is....A DEAN DEALER!!! They had a decen toccection of Deans. Couple Hardtails, a 79Z, couple Vendettas. I just played them while their tech guy installed the pup and set up the guitar.
Had to wait till practice to try it out though.
Finally get there and plug everything in and go for the typical open E. AWESOME!!! This pickup is great. I actually have to try NOT to hit pinch harmonics. My singer thought I was doing something different. I was like "no I just sound better." I'm glad I bought this thing, and I only have 2 other guitars to get one for lol. VERY good purchase.
Sorry Randy, no EMG for me. A guitar isn't a toy and doesn't need batteries!!
Is vinnie drumming still?
Is damageplan done for?
so i found out for definate tonight that i have the same name as someone else used to have on the forum, and apparently this guy was a bit of an ass, now i always felt like people were a bit funny with me but i just thought it was cus i had a low post count, so i need to change my name, and im a lazy fugger, so i need you guys to help me think of one! all the best,

I dropped that pattern in the mail today for the pick guard.
Check the neck pup cut-out on the leading edge. It looked like it was moving a bit while handling it so I used a square instead on the cut line.
The second one turned out ubber better. The first one cracked under the neck because I was too agressive with the countersink bit. I believe those cracks were present before I drove the screw home, but were not visible until it tightened down against the body and the screw started to spead the counter-sunk hole outward.

Anyone else getting spammed by BE-STAR.biz?
just curious, started getting mail from these knuckleheads today. I can't find any information on them via Google either. wacky.
Picked up a couple of mainstream CD's this week
Tool - 10000 Days and Godsmack - IV. I've liked most of the previous offerings from these bands so figured I'd give them another shot.
Tool - 10000 Days. If you liked Laterulas, you'll like 10000 days. It is pretty much the same record. Not it's kinda the same. It's almost dead on the same. Same sound (like exact, not a Tool-like sound, but sounds like it was recorded at the same time of Laterulas, using the same equipment, same settings.) Same song structure (again, not really Tool-esque - but if it weren't for songs having different names - and presumabley different lyrics- it sounds the same as Laterulas.)
There is a difference here where Maynard does some singing without any backing instruments, and then continues to sing over a bassline or something. It's realllllly bad. I had a complaint about the vox being a bit buried in Laterulas (and yes this trend continues in 10000 Days), I can see why. This stretch of vocals makes for a good 30 seconds plus of just cringing. It's kinda painful to listen to.
Godsmack - IV. I've only given this one spin so far, and not really looking like it will get some more any time soon. I really liked the simple, heavy, hooking riffs from their previous offerings (never picked up that accoustic thing, as it is not my thing.) This record is a bit more on the controled side, and more over produced. It doesn't have a heavy punch that their self titled, Awake and even Faceless had. Everything is very compressed and too digital and exact. I miss a more natural feel to recordings.
that's it from the Grump McGrumperson for now.
Who has gotten any GFS Pickups?
I remember a few people grabbing different ones and giving them pretty good reviews. I just got won one of these to try in the neck of my Epi Iommi SG.

Anyone here fans of Damone?
http://www.myspace.com/damone
I'm not sure I like the new stuff as much as I like Songs from the Attic, but they are good. I still think I kinda miss Pino. He is like a landshark of a guitar player. Everything he does is just so upfront and screaming, while tight and streamlined.
I guess a lot of the production on the new record was done at Noelle's apartment. It is amazing what one can do with home recording now.
Caddy Methamorphosis: Part 2 BLACK METAL!
Ok I received the black hardware last tuesday (THANX DEAN Z!), so I couldn;t wait to install it. What was the hard part was installing the PU selector switch since it was a pretty different 4 poled one, whereas the one in the Caddy was a 5 pole. Anyway, I pulled it off and well...quite frankly I only have the middle PU in there for the looks..
Anyway I wired it a little different, so now I can select:
1. Bridge
2. All Three
3. Neck and Middle
sounds pretty awesome, only thing it needs is a coarse intonation because of the new bridge and a small truss rod adjustment! but it looks pretty awesome don't ya think?

Now:
I just found out that my best friend from highschool is hooked on Meth and Crack and aparently talks to himself. It kind of makes me wonder what would have happened if I hadn't moved away ya know...I'm not blaming myself this just sucks. Hey, some people at harmony central told me I should get a Randall RG100G3 after I made a thread that I was looking for a metal amp that would get me dimebag sound. The RG200G3 is only $100 more so I thought might aswell get the 200 watter.
Any ways... What do you guys think about the RG200G3? I haven't tried it out yet but I am trying to get my dad to drive me to maxx music store in nanaimo, so I can try it out at the store (Hopefully they have one in stock). Its takes around an 1 hour to get there going 110 KMP so that trip uses up a lot of gas.
Just thought I would get some opinions before I go out and try it.
I Now Own an Extremely Rare Guitar...Pics
Yep, I'm sitting here laughing my ass off to my newly bought Dimevision DVD Vol:1 (I highly recommend it) It's like Jackass southern texas Dime style. Lots of fireworks, burns and shredding....
Anyways.........
I'm watching my DVD and my dad comes home.
"I know you were saving up for a Dean Razorback but I figure this would tide you over"
He bought a Guild Bladerunner from about 1986. I checked online, the average selling price of these is $6,000+!!! There were only 91 made and two players that bought one would be Joe Perry (In the Walk This Way/Run DMC Vid...See it on Youtube.com), and the guy off Twisted Sister. He got it for $550!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyways....here is some pics. It has the original strings on it!! The guy never played it. Bought it, and in the hard case it went. It came with two large straps, an ancient "telephone" style cable, hard case a bunch of pics (20+) and even an original set of 1986 DiMarzio strings. Anyways...enough talking.....If you have questions, just ask!

I'll scan the string package in a bit.....crappy really blurry photo....
alright, well i got my new dean. finally.,and i gotta say its one of the best guitars i have ever played on,the pick-ups- are decent(guitar is based on 79 models)but i wanted a little for heavy sound so i decided to buy me a bill lawrence L-500,but now i dont know what to buy for the neck,i've tried guitars that had diffrent nick-pick=ups but i dident like em,anyways, can anyone recondem any neck pick-ups for me,like a pick-up thats sounds kinda like a yngwie malmsteen sound, just a lil more heavy------here some porn------http://www.carlinoguitars.com/images/Picture_4953.jpg
not sure this is a good thing
ok, i sent my first FBD back because problems with the floyd rose, Now I just got my replacement today and i notice something about the Pickup and floyd rose cavities... it seems to me that they were cut into the guitar crooked, which makes the strings offcenter with the pickups, just want to know more about this, how much this affects the sound and stuff,
The last picture give u a pretty clear picture of it, the first string is almost completely offcenter
Sorry bout that huge pictures, i'll resize them if it's impossible to see
I finally sold it.$500$ bucks .
Not bad, considering I was only asking $350$ for it.
My Buddy Andy told his brother it was for sale and the guy handed me 500 and I handed him the guitar.
After wards Andy told him my asking price. Needless to say he was pissed, but now
OFF TO BUY A NEW DEAN
I was going to buy Bri's hardtail. But a lot of things came up. I am glad it went to a good home though.

http://www.trivium.org/media.php
Me and my friends went to a meet and greet at the now defunct Mars music by my house and met "The Idol" and my friend Josh had nothing for him to sign so he took a happy face balloon down and Dime hooked it up. I on the other hand had a pic of him from 84 standing in front of Ft. Worth's old Bronco Bowl drinking a "buttwiper" and he hooked that up with a huge grin reminicing about back in the day before he had the gut. I'll scan the pic and put it on here and get a pic of josh's balloon. I'll cherish that memory forever and now I have it on DVD and the rest of the world can see it too. I just thought you guys would get a kick out of that!
Has anyone tried one out or do you have one? I used to have a
Roland Cube 30 but it was stolen along with my guitar so I'm
looking around.

I've missed this place...
...I mean it, I really have.
I've only had time lately for the occassional post here and there, mainly due to my young family requiring much of my time (which of course I don't grudge) but I do miss the shenanigans around here.
I've had little time to play my beloved Deans (and others ), but they still get quality play-time whenever I can. I'm taking my Czech eVo for some professional TLC next week, so I'll post up with new pics and a review of my tuned up baby!
It seems a bit pointless all this bickering about the way things used to be etc, etc, and this is coming from someone who joined post Dime's death. I've appreciated all the input and general love around here and it all seems to get to get taken far too seriously at times, seems a shame really...
Anyways, I'm not trying to stir up crap here, merely wanting to say hello and to get posting up again more regularly soon.
Peace and Love, Scotch-land stylee!
Cheers,
Ally.
Why? Why USE FEDEX GROUND? WHY?
Well I'll be lucky to ever see my bass. Drop shipped from Tampa, via FedEx ground. You see, FedEx ground is based in BETHLEHEM PA, and I live in NEW JERSEY! It's a couple hours away.
So, it will now sit in HOT TRAILOR in a parking lot over the weekend. AND if I don't take the day off from work next week, they will ship it back to Tampa.
I am so Fracking pissed, if I had a number to call Tampa and bitch, I would do just that. What the gar, everyone is so god-damned concerned about saving a buck...PAY THE EXTRA 15 Fracking DOLLARS, SHITE, I WOULD GLADLY PAY THE EXTRA MONEY FOR PROPER SHIPPING.
So, take the chance of getting fired? Or let it go back to Tampa and see if they will ship it again?
Thanks Dean guitars, as if I didn't already appreciate the "wandering" deadline of my custom.
I am out of words

Need FloydRose help :(
by I M Evil on Fri May 05, 2006 10:37 pm
I've finally completed my star-guitar, pickups installed,
pot installed backwards and so on ...
My biggest concern is the Floyd I bought(from GFS )
it's a non-recessed one and I can't for the life of me figure
iut how to fix it.
at the moment, I've raised the poles that holds the damn
thing so I could get a decent action while testing the signal.
that works great ... as long as there's no use of the bar.
If I divebomb just a little bit, the entire plate gets stuck
under the edge of the poles holding it, and I'm ending up
removing the springs, lowering the poles and try again.
at this height, there's only 1 spring that can hold it, the other
ones disconnect very easily
... huff ... heave ... enough ranting from me
if you have any solution to this problem(floyd experience might help )
give me a shout in this thread, and if you're wondering about something,
I could've forgotten to mention it, so just ask again
G'night.
I've been having bad G.A.S. lately and I was wandering, why do I(we) want so many guitars?
I love em, and I want more!! And hopefully, one day, be up there with the big boys(Ian and others)
I mean, man they're so cool!
Right now I have 6 not including righthanded guits(3 of em that are my main axes) And I'm hoping to get another one cause as we all know, deans rule. And people always ask me "dude why do you need more than one guitar?" I reply "cause...uh...I just do!"
Does anyone know why there is a need to have more? ... or am I the only one with this problem?...I need a cure!
sorry for the lame post
If you need someone to blame...
...for anything
This guy right here will do just fine.
So I'm sitting here with a jagerbomb and a crown n coke.....
and I see how much I love this place. SO many great friends and people alike.
I love this pace soooo much. Tons of quality people. tons of good times = great place to be!!!!!!!
Playing my first USA Dean!
I went to a willis music today while my girlfriend shopped around the mall. I asked the dude if i could try out a black import hard tail. (only cuz the only "pointy" guitar was a baby ML) so i plugged in and it was great. then he came over with a maroon profesional hard tail and it was like a totally different axe. damn it was sweet. just wanted to share the popping of my first USA Dean nut!
simply enough i need to know where to get the whole saddle piece for a licensed flloyd rose bridge
the saddle has a small number 12 stamped into it

Threw a GFS Pup in my Iommi SG
The GFS Pup that I got from the 'Bay took all of 3 days from end of auction to in my mailbox. I wanted to replace the Iommi neck pup because it didn't clean up very nicely and was a bit too hot to use when trying to do clean parts.
The pickup arrived with about an inch and ahlf of wire not in the rubber jacket, and the hot and ground wires already stripped a bit. The two coil tap wires were already soldered together. Made for a quick swap.
After breaking the volume knob off the pot, I went to work. The Iommi SG was wired very neatly, almost looked like a high end computer with all the wires tied up and neat.
The only complaint is the silver screw heads in the pup, the pick showed black. All in all a quiet pup with less balls (which is what I wanted.) Sounds decent through my Guitar Port, but will have to wait until next practice to give it a true test.
OKAY...So I went there today...long assed day of travelling... but it was worth it.
FIRSTLY, tried out this guitar, and its tremolo did someting cool:)
OKAY, so when you bring the whammy bar around so its facing the tail, it clips into a position, from there you can flick up the drop D knob, and the whole guitar stays in tune without it losing anything on any of the other strings. Then, when you bend he whammy bar back down it automatically puts it back into standard tuning. Its pretty cool
Then, I was watching some long haired metalers playing on a small stage, then looking at a poster I relised it was BIOMECHANICAL
I just about poowed my pants when they played empires of the world
yeah they were good, real nice guys too

AFTER THAT... pulled into the Elixir strings section and had a battle with some man.... they gave me strings and a tee shirt

Also, I tried out this 8 string guitar. It was hooked up with a set of EMG bass pickups, it was so awesome. Eevreything was perfect on the guitar, the pickups gave it such a sweet tone. Get some big ass sweeps on there too.
This was also pretty cool: I got to jam with one of the guitarists from whitesnake Hes getting on a bit...
haha, Ill have to upload the video of that, he pulls some funny faces
BUT the real highlight of my day had to be the Dean stand. I played a DFH. (not of the 100, the newer, cheaper ones) It had to be the best guitar I've ever played, everything jsut came out of it so easily and it was so well set up. The squeals sounded awesome.
Got me some Pantera solosdown on that, some good ass riffage.

Where can i find a razorback in germany

Can anyone tell me where i can find a razorback in germany? There are no dealers and i feel very very sad! i want such a killer weapon!
Perhaps here are some german people, and anyone can help me!
Danke

...with wires! Not a Dean, sorry.
I've been searching for an acoustic that's just right for me. I thought a $2K+ acoustic
would do it for me, but I just wasn't feeling it on a traditional flat top. And believe me,
I tried out many acoustics in the past month! Soooo, thinking about how much
I really like my Palomino and how much I've enjoyed the Gretsch hollowbodies
I've played before, I decided on an archtop acoustic jazz box, if you will.
It's a Gretsch G400C. I really likes it! Have it set up with 10-48 strings , removed the
pickguard (just gets in the way of the sound), and it's just what I needed!
Here's some pron! Enjoy!
Barbecue Etiquette...
by JACKHOLE on Sat May 06, 2006 11:41 pm
BBQ Season Etiquette
After four long months of cold and winter, we are finally coming up to
spring and BBQ season. Therefore, it is important to refresh your memory
on the etiquette of this outdoor cooking ritual, as it's the only type of
cooking a real man will do, probably because there is an element of danger
involved.
When a man volunteers to do the BBQ, the following chain of events are put
into motion:
1. The woman buys the food.
2. The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert.
3. The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along
with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man
who is lounging beside the grill - beer in hand.
Here comes the important part:
4. THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.
Then:
5. The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.
6. The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning. He
thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he deals with the situation.
Important again:
7. THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.
8. The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces
and brings them to the table.
9. After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.
And most important of all:
10. Everyone PRAISES THE MAN and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.
11. The man asks the woman how she enjoyed "her night off" and, upon
seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some
women!
So Today, my teacher says to me...
by MZDA on Sat May 06, 2006 11:50 pm
We were looking through a guitar world, and got to the part where they advertise players and there gear.. And he says to me..
"Dude, Justin, in 10 years, I think I'll be seeing you in guitar these magazines, everything about you is serious, you have a great ear for tone, a good eye for good gear, you've spent your money, and your love for music is amazing. Everything about you is perfect for music, your heart is so strong towards Metal, and music in general. I've seen alot of 'good' guitarist's with heart in my time, but dude, Justin, you take the cake man, I can say, with confidence that you are that 1 out of 100,000 kids to hit it big in the future, as long as your heart stays strong."
god i hate ohio i cant find anyone that deals in deans!!!!!
i want to play a caddy or ml
i got to play an evo one but that was the cheapest version it just felt smooth
anyone know any good places in the old hi ho to find a dean?
Tell me about the Vendetta 4.0
How's the neck feel compared to say my HT Select or '79 V?
I need a list, of the best power metal bands. Im bored. And need some music to listen to.
As of now...I know of a few, and i dont even know if they would be considered power metal.
Icead Earth
Hammerfall
Nevermore
Blind Gaurdian
Yea. i know. sad. lol
Rhoads, Van Halen, the Dean connection
I've seen some places saying that Randy played a Dean, and one of the avatars here looks like he is. The recent cover of Guitar One has Eddie playing with what looks like a Baby ML, with some stripes.
Anybody wanna give the scoop, with pics?
For the past month or two things have been different than they used to be. I used to work out EVERY day and I could go forever and had tons of energy. Now I'm bored all the time, don't have any energy, can't force myself to do the things I know I have to. I still get in an hour or two of guitar a day, but after 45 minutes of playing I just get bored and quit then later do the same thing. I can't get myself to read my music theory book that I know I should read. I can't get myself to go work out either, which is bad, because I have put a ton of work into getting extremely fit and I don't want to just stop. The other thing is it seems like I've been addicted to the computer, when I'm bored I get on MSN, the ESP forum, and here. I am on the computer a lot though, because it's the only place I have all my music at, but I get caught up waisting my life waiting for people to respond to threads and it's so damn pointless. I've been having a run of bad luck outside all of this that's not helping. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to get my interest rather than energy back up (I say that, because I always have TONS of energy at school and with friends and I usually drink a rockstar energy drink when I get home from school, but I still have no energy/interest to do things.) Thanks in advance.
VH1 40 Greatest Metal Songs
I just caught this today and can't say I agree with very much of it.
Slipknot's Wait and Bleed better than Judas Priest's Breaking the Law? I think not.
Of course I know a bunch of idiots picked some of the songs on the list (actually, it was pretty obvious.) I just wanted to get a little input.
And Iron Man came in the #1 spot? That aggravates me.
My (Alaskan Native) friend showed me this pic and it took me a minute to get it lol.

Hi guys,
I am currently shopping for a new amp and have my eye on 3 models.
First is the Vox AD120VT.
Second is a Kustom WAV212
And third is a Johnson Millenium.
I have heard and played on the Vox but the Kustom and Johnson will be getting shipped to me so am not sure of their sound.
I'm mostly interested in the Johnson amp has anyone here played one?
Any help or recommendations would be appreciated.
Cheers.
Norwegian hard rock and metal
by Ziggy on Sun May 07, 2006 10:33 am
Here's just a little report on what's cooking in the north...
The interest in hard rock and metal has been quite strong in Norway for years. This interest has now resulted in numerous bands within the genre. There are many active bands at the moment, but I'll just mention three of them in this post.
What do these bands have in common?
The common factor for these bands are that the musicians are really skilled. It's quite astounding to listen to bands where there are no weak members. And, might I add, quite rare.
If you want examples of some of Norways finest, check out these bands:
Pagan's Mind
The music of Pagan's Mind might be described as a mix of powermetal and progressive rock. In addition, there are numerous other influences. This is probably one of the most interesting bands in Norway at the moment. Their guitarist, Jorn Viggo Lofstad, is truly one talented musician. In addition to his skilfull playing, he is also an excellent songwriter and producer. This guy WILL be internationally acknowledged the next years, mark my words!
For a representative example, download Aegan Shores
Website
Circus Maximus
Progressive metal at it's finest..
Circus Maximus has released just one album. That might very well be the strongest progressive realease in all of 2005. The example below is a good example of the record. Make sure you listen to the whole song.
Download The Sin
Website
Jorn Lande
If you haven't heard of Jorn before, now is the time to check him out.
Jorn Lande has been an asset to the norwegian hard rock commuinty for years. His powerful voice enhances The latest album "The Duke" is a sure winner. "The Duke" was just released and is already climbing. This is Jorn at his finest.
Jorn VIggo Lofstad plays guitar on this album.

Looking For A Good Practice Amp
I'm looking for an amp to replace my Marshall 15 watter. It has to be between 15-30 watts and able to handle a 7 string tuned down a whole step.I don't need much power,as I'll be using it to jam it in my basement and don't need the neighbors next door harassing me.The amps I'm looking at are the Line 6 Spider 2,Roland Mini Cube 15,and the Randall RX20RC.Do you guys have any suggestions?Maybe something I may have overlooked?....
want a vintage Dean, but I visited our good friend JA1010 yesterday and was completely blown away by his '80 ML.
Thanks for everything bro, but did you have to make me want one so bad!!!!
I must, no, will be looking out for one just like the rest of you hounds out there so WATCH OUT!!!!!!!
Hi all
I saw that some people like Tormentor make new designs for Dean Guitars with photoshop - I use Photoshop myself and I thought that the concept is pretty cool
I started working on a few Razorback models - does anyone have a particular color scheme in mind ?
share your ideas here ... I'll create another topic with pix if it works
----
for my part I thought of a 2-tone razorback with the exterior in red and of a white razor with a red binding - I'll try to get those ready to show you what I mean
Some of you guys might remember me asking about cool watches a while ago. I bought one of them and let's just say it had design flaws. So I'm in the market for a new one, I don't want to spend more than $20. I looked on ebay, but there wasn't much. I'm looking for something that can take a beating, is comfortable, and most important of all looks badass! Something with spikes, studs, etc. should do. Thanks in advance.
acoustic/electric suggestions.
could you guys please recommend a good acoustic/electric.
found a 9 string with 24 frets, no tremolo
although the action looks real high on that errr A or whateva string
AND
7 strings, 36 frets, no tremolo
what I need, is an 8 string, 36 fret, floyd rose guitar with a big ass crazy shape

looking for first dean...
well ive been for more than long enough and its time to enter the brotherhood of dean, but im low on cash right now because me and my dad are moving, but ive got an idea, im thinking of selling my squire affinity strat, now i dont think i can sell it on ebay or here on the forum cause i dont have a hardshell case to ship it in, but im thinking i can get a descent trade from a shop, ive owned it for not even two years and it looks and plays great, but im sure a dean can do what it does and even more, ill miss the maple fretboard but it only has 21 frets and its not all that suited to my style of playing, metal, i could just throw down 200 on an x series but from what ive gathered here is that the trademarks of a dean is a setneck, flame maple top, zebra pickups, so what do you guys think i should do?
im definitly looking for a 79 series ml or v, i live in the chicago area,
maybe i should have posted this in a different forum but the main topic is to sell my squire, maybe a trade with cash with some one? i wonder if transblue z still has that transblue v select... you know i havent forgotten...
i decline my previous statements
ive been diehard marshall man here but i got to tell you i likey the randalls ive been hearing alot but i dont know which to get for the big fat crunch ill have like 800 bucks anyone got the lowdown on the best Randalls for metal??right now im leaning tword the warhead or x2
So I was playing through this peavy 1X12 Practice amp and it was actually very very good. So I'm curious if there are any opinions from you guys on their 1/2 stacks/cabs/heads or anything.

Computer Power Supply Help
I've been building computers for 8 or 9 years and when it came to the power supply, I just shrugged and went on. Rather than spending $200 on a name brand, I would spend $15 on a budget model. Well, my current computer's power supply worked flawlessly until about 3 months ago. It started with an annoying buzzing sound due to the wore out fan bearing and ended sometime over the course of last night with the fan completely stopping. Luckily, I have an auxillery fan for the chassis itself, and of course the processor fan. The power supply didn't seem to be overly hot, just warm to the touch. But of course, all it was doing overnight was sitting there. Anyways, I rebooted the computer to see if the initial power jolt would boost it back up again and no luck. I then stuck a pencil in there and manual whirled it around while the computer was on. This done the trick and got it working up until I typed about half of this post... it is now at another stand still. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone could suggest a quality power supply with a quiet fan. It must have at least one power connection for an S-ATA drive.
Anyone recognize this gentleman? Should be an easy one.

Product: MXR M-151 Doubleshot Distortion Pedal
Feb 13, 2006 - MXR does not make cheap pedals. They never have. I bought this pedal when it first came out and its everything I've wanted it to be. Its got a good lead channel (the top) and incredibly heavy distortion channel (on bottom). Both channels are all what they're cracked up to be- MXR quality all the way. What sound do you want?
As for the people that talk bad about this pedal, well, lets look at the facts: they're probably playing your typical red Squier and among other things don't know too much about sound or anything else musically related for that matter.
Do I? Well I don't know "much", but I know what I like. I play Paganini note for note, and drive a Black 79 Monza Spyder. There's only one way to rock.
What's up with the Rebel?
Man, I sure would like to know what's going on with the Dixie Rebel. First it was due April, then Late April / early May, then Mid May, then late May /early June, now it's late June / early July. I hope it's because they're trying to get it right. I can't take the waiting.
As usual, when I go to Florida, I start searching for jobs, and trying to find a way to stay here instead of returning to lubeVille, KY.
For those that don't know, I am a systems analyst/admin, and I am happy with my current employer, just not my current climate. For those of you who work in the same industry, do you know of any establishments in FL that are

Rant:
So, as some of you know, I recently sold my P90 Z on ebay... I did so to make money that I thought I desperately needed (a matter that was cleared up after recieving some back pay I didn't think would come). Anyhow, I dropped the package off at the post office last week, and then got a call today telling me that they couldn't ship it internationally because it was too big!
I guess the woman had entered the wrong measurements initially. I took it to UPS, but they want 400 bucks to ship the damn thing. I'm refunding the guy his money, never EVER letting international bidders on my ebay auction again!
Anyhow, my P90Z is back up for sale, 580 shipped (need to cover my ass a little more on the refund issue). PM me if you're interested, you'd make my life a whole lot easier. I've already got the thing packed up!

Can you id these F ender pickups?
These are odd. They have the grey part like the '69 Custom Shop but no stickers and no glue residue. They have the AY (Abigail Yberra) but no stickers!
I dont have a pic from the top. The high E pin is flush with the cover, B is kind of just below the pick up cover, G + D stick out, A sticks out but not as much and low E sticks out more than the A but not as much as the G/D. They were sold to me as THE limited serie Abigail Y. but I amnot sure. They supposibly came out of Custom Shop Strat serial #Ro8886.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Didn't really like the sounds he was getting out of the amp. Clean sounded OK but the overdrive channel was kinda weak IMO. Hard to say I guess without being able to dial it in yourself.
When did Dean start selling these, and can I hve 2 please??

The description:
"Slow Down and Learn with Slow Speed Audition feature. In ancient times (like the 1970s), musicians would take a vinyl LP record and manually spin the record on a turntable, slowing it down to be able to better hear and understand the performances, like guitar solos and complex chord changes. With the CD-GT1mkII, you get a training method that's even better. Not only can you slow down the speed of the CD by up to 50%, but you can do it without changing the pitch of the original material! After you learn the lick at a slow speed, you can increase the tempo in steps until you can match the original performance note for note. Also, you can change the pitch of the CD without changing the speed...use this feature to "tune the CD" to your guitar.
Effect Yourself
The CD-GT1mkII has 57 great-sounding built-in customizable modeling effects...you don't need to turn to external boxes for overdrive, distortion, delay, chorus and more. Plus, there's a nice selection of vocal reverbs and processed sounds so you can sing along with rockers, hip-hoppers, divas and everything in between!
Performance Tools
You can set seamless in-out loop points with the CD-GT1mkII...it will play the same section of music over and over again so you can focus on your playing. Use the footswitch input to start and stop the CD, or to scroll through effects. The CD-GT1mkII even provides a chromatic tuner so you always sound great when you play, and can run on batteries to take your show on the road. You can listen to the CD-GT1mkII via headphones, or use its Line Output to plug in speakers."
I'm interested in this mainly for the speed reduction feature allowing slower practise when trying to learn something new. I'm not a lead player by a mile and I think this would help out.
Any opinions from users would be appreciated.

Hollywood is set on remaking every $hitty 70's & 80's TV Show...
Hasselhoff Skien Comes to Big Screen
Tuesday May 9 11:44 AM ET
The Weinstein Co. has picked up the feature rights to the '80's series Knight Rider from show creator Glen A. Larson.
By Mark Umbach, FilmStew.com
Everybody's favorite TV actor, well, at least Germany's favorite TV actor, David Hasselhoff, must be so proud. The actor, who recently found out DreamWorks will be bringing an adaptation his Baywatch to theatres, will soon see another of his characters brought to the big screen. Indie shingle The Weinstein Co. has picked up feature rights to Hasselhoff starrer Knight Rider from show creator Glen A. Larson, and the company now has an eye toward adapting the series for the big screen.
Hasselhoff spent the mid-'80s cruising around the small screen as Michael Knight, with his talking car KITT, in the cop series Knight Rider. The show centered on an injured cop who had been left to die. He is nursed back to health by a mysterious millionaire who gives the cop a new name, face and all sorts of high-tech gadgets, including his car KITT, to help fight crime.
The show ran from 1982 through 1986 on NBC and earned Hasselhoff the People's Choice Award as Favorite Male Performer in a New Television Series for the show's first season.
No casting decisions for the feature have been made, but David Price, who brought the idea to The Weinstein Co., will be a co-producer.
The Weinstein Co. recently picked up the feature rights to TV's Welcome Back, Kotter as a star vehicle for Ice Cube, and they are also developing The Equalizer for the big screen. One can only hope that the studio does a better job with Knight Rider than was recently done with the likes of The Dukes of Hazzard and Bewitched, to name a few.

summer = free time and lots of projects
hey guys , i think i have asked this question before but have any of you taken a venture into pedal building ? I think i am going to start on making me a couple here as soon as school lets out . I am also thinking of buying a tube amp kit or making one like an epiphone valve special (the single el84 and 12ax7 head version) .
Also i plan on playing my ass off this summer as was wondering if there were any good workout programs/books/videos that you have tried that helped out with theory and music in gerneral ?
HOW TO SCREW WITH YOUR SCHOOLS COMPUTER LAB
Well today on the morning announcements, we heard that somebody had been steeling the little balls out of the mice for the computers. So now if you want to use a computer you have to check out one of the balls just like a library book lol. These balls can do some seriouse damage to the the cheap drywall your school has, if you've got a good arm. Same with the denting lockers and making little spots on them where the paint gets hit. Not that I would know...
I want to order me the Explosion Razorback guitar, I was wondering if they are US made, I'd rather have a guitar made in the US than getting an import, if there are US models of the Explosion Razorback do they cost more?
.....just picked it up and watched it....it's great!
If you're a fan of Dime, you'll love it....or just check it out to see what the hype is all about!
My fave part is right near the end, Dime makes a great statement that will ring in my ears forever...any musician will appreciate his comments....ALONE worth the cost of the DVD, not to mention all the great (bit scratchy in quality, but hey, it's LIVE!) solo concert footage....
....let's see the next volume out soon!
Ok, now I need advice (on a Randall)
I dropped by a pawn shop today and there was a Randall RG75/1x12 combo looked damn near new for $225. Is this a decent price? I dug the sounds coming out but I didn't have a whole lot of time to play with it. Some of y'all solid state folk clue me in! I need a good practice/small gig amp...is this it?
Ya know who's kinda overrated....
I love Rush, one of the great bands my dad showed me. Neal Pert is a GREAT drummer, but i hear some people say "The Greatest Drummer of All Time" and stuff like that....
I just bought the Rush Greatest hits album, and ive been listening to it ALOT...i like the first half of the CD, but im not familiar with the last 6 or so songs...i think its in cronologic order, thou, so maybe i only know the older stuff....ive never heard a full rush album, ....just more of a radio fan.
But, ...the drums are great, inventive, crisp....but, i dont think its the greatest drumming ive ever heard.....not by a long shot....

I was trying out my new camera and busted out a couple of Dime style squeals. It's not the greatest, but I was excited to post my first ever video on the internet.
Lots of people on here have discussed agiles, just a quick question... Any idea which Licensed Floyd this is:
I'm just wondering if A) It's any good and B) if it's swappable for a real one or a better licensed one.
Edit: Yes, this is indeed what I'm doing instead of work. Seems like I'm the only one here. Though there is someone hidden. Hmmm...
Now I understand why they call him the madman ...

Overdrive Pedal question
by tnvol on Wed May 10, 2006 3:48 pm
I just got a Peavey Delta Blues combo. 30 watts, all tube, 15 inch single speaker. Can anyone reccomend a decent overdrive pedal to use with it? Im not looking for a razor sharp metal sound. Something more along the lines of a classic Zep type sound. Vintage hard rock is kinda what Im looking for. The amp is pretty killer on its own but Im looking for something to beef it up a tad.

70's band - Winterhawk - any fans?Where can I get some cd's?
I just stumbled across this band on another forum, and found 1 record full of clips on iTunes. Seem like a good 70's era hardrock band. Any information would be appreciated.
Hi guys
I've been asked by a good friend of mine to ask you a question - ... what won't one do for his friends ? ...
so ... he's now playing an Epiphone LP and he'll get a 60 Mex Strat in a few days
I talked to him about the ML I'm about to get and he told me like "ah ... Dean ... the metal guitars"
so as a good boy I told him how good Dean guitars were ... we tried one together and he was really astonished ^^
I told him to take a look at the Dean catalog and he loved the Cadillacs and the Vs
but here's the problem: he plays mostly blues and the heaviest thing he'd play would be some ACDC or stuff like that ...
would the Cady be better for this kind of music or would the V be just fine ?
as I never tried a Cadillac I just couldn't answer him ...
thanks all - I'll speak for him ^^
If Jeb decides to run for President. The U.S. could become a pseudo-monarchy.Keep it in the family....
Brother Jeb would make 'great' US president: Bush
May 10 12:05 PM US/Eastern
Email this story
President George W. Bush praised his brother, Florida governor Jeb Bush, as an "excellent" leader who would make a "great president" of the United States, according to news accounts.
"I think Jeb would be a great president. But it's up to Jeb to make a decision to run," Bush told reporters at a roundtable interview here with several Florida newspapers.
"I would like to see Jeb run at some point in time, but I have no idea if that's his intention or not," said the president, in comments published in the St Petersburg Times, and other dailies.
Bush said he had "pushed him fairly hard about what he intends to do," but said Jeb would not tip his hand.
"I have no idea what he's going to do. I've asked him that question myself. I truly don't think he knows," Bush said.
He added that his brother's "political future is very bright - if he chooses to have a political future. But he is an independent-minded guy. His priority is his family."
The Bush family is one of the pre-eminent US political dynasties, with the Bush brothers' father, George Herbert Walker Bush, having also served a stint as US president.

Anyone know if them are any good? I want something with a floyd and was originally wanting the LP style guitar but then saw this one. It has 24 frets which is nice to have and its easier to play up at the high notes. Although it doesn't say what size the frets are...
The arch body looks cool too

Nancy Wilson played a couple, Heart lead guitarist played one (did check his name). And Jerry Cantrell played an awesome White Dean V I also caught there was "star" inlays on the 12th frets!!!

My friend let me borrow his Spalted Time Capsule Z and his Gibson Limited Edition Korina Explorer.... both killer guitars! I'm still trying to get him to sell me the Spalted Z, but he won't budge... I'm not giving up easy though!
Dot inlays... and abalone "Dean" logo... droooool....
This top is a killer! The pic does it NO justice at all! It has flame to die for!
Even the back is killer... look at the swirl in the mahogany... looks like a hurricane!
This is one badass Gibson Explorer... light as a feather. I is #3/100 Limited Edition. Funky headstock! It is an amazing playing and sounding guitar.
Just to make myself feel better... I had to throw my own guitar into the mix... which is easily on-par if not better than the ones above... my custom Korina Explorer with flame maple top...
This is my best playing guitar... undisputedly... definitely... undeniably. I'm going to be buried with this one!
The top looks a foot deep in the sun... it is one of the best flametops I have ever seen!

Mmmmm . . . Gold Top P-90 Lovin'
by Mike9 on Thu May 11, 2006 9:06 pm
I finally got a chance to finish my Agile Gold Top P-90 Les Paul. This was a fun project considering it arrive with a neck break . So I repaired the neck then did the usual reshape to it and a fret job, did the magnet swap in the P-90s, locked up the bridge and tailpiece and gave it a really nice setup. To trim it out right I added cream speed knobs and I made a cream TR cover for it. This is a cool guitar and I dig the finish - it has a greenish tint at the right angle just like the real thing. It plays great and the P-90s are a good match - 8.75k bridge and 6.5k neck alnico magnets in each for a sweet tone. I get really good harmonics with these - ala Billy Gibbons. Yeah - I'm happy -
Guitar Hero2 - with special edition MAB controller?
I got a chuckle out of this 'shop. Sorry MAB, but it is a good farce.
BIRTHDAYS, BOOZE, TUBESCREAMERS, PANTERA, AND....PUPPIES?
as it says, yes its my birthday, yes i'll be havin some booze (although ill be having a lot more on saturday at my apt, at the 'rents' place now), i just traded my super chorus for a TubeScreamer (TS9, will probably get the analogman 808 mod) this thing is badass tho, i like it a lot, nice warm OD meshes well with my Mesa/Boogie 50cal+, gotta say thanks to VH1 for putting out the Pantera BTM special on my BDay, which is now during METAL MONTH hahaha, and although it doesnt really go with the theme of metal/guitars/booze, im getting my Yellow Lab puppy today. we named him O'Reily (born on St. Patricks day, i know oh so clever i am). we go to pick him up at 7ish (2 1/2 hours). im really excited, house hasnt been the same since we had to put my lab Sunny to sleep (cancer, 11yrs old). she was a great dog, if this dog is half as good as she was, ill be one happy camper, but it'll be great to have another furry little buddy to come home to (heads out of gutter guys )
hope yous guys have a hell of a day as well, i'll post up some guitar/amp/pedal/puppy pron if i get a chance, and feel free to leave some of that goooood pron of your own
have a good one guys.....if only the cubs could stop sucking massive baboon balls, it'd be a perfect day (although barry "my steroid inflated head is the size of a beach ball but my balls are like rasins" bonds hasnt hit a homer, so thats a good thing)
Wow
by JoeRock on Thu May 11, 2006 10:07 pm
so, this past tusday was my 17th birthday. my day wasnt going too well untill i was eating dinner with my family.
All of a sudden, Alive, by Pearl Jam starts playing. at first i think it's a cd, but then the drums kick in and i realize it's coming form my basement.
i go down to find my friends (about 40 people) down there screeming suprise. it felt so good having all of my friends there. but then Steve, the one who began playing Alive, comes up to me with a flying V shaped gift wrapped in wrapping paper.
at first i figure it's fake because i dint think my friends could afford, and would actually buy me, a guitar. but then i take hold of it and it feels heavier then i expected. i rip off the paper at the top and i see the Dean wings on the headstock. at this point i eagerly ripped off the rest of the paper to find that they had bought me a Dean Black Gold V. Iv'e been wanting this axe for a while.
I asked who it was from and they said it was from all of them. they raised $700 in five days to but me this guitar. i couldnt belive it.
i am so happy to have these guys as my friends not because of the guitar, but because they care about me this much. my heart is still warm form the feeling of those guys.
when i see them at school iv been giving them hugs and saying thank you.
i dont have a name for her yet, but i was hoping what ever i named it could honer them, for their friendship.
if you have any ideas, please help me out.

There's three videos, as the thread says, they're probably not work safe. I can't believe the guy hasn't gotten his ass kicked yet. I thought it was funny, although that is the worst thing you could ever do to somebody.
Bumblebee Action Shots
by Jheroun on Fri May 12, 2006 1:04 am
Well, my girlfriend came to our rehearsal with a camera this evening to score some action shots of the Slime Bumblebee. Enjoy.
Me and our drummer on this shot, I move a lot. That headstock looks pretty huge in these blurs
Enter the bass player and a bit of guitar player number 2. I love my razorback, that floyd stays in tune perfectly. After our regular sets the drummer and me did some 3 hand solo freaky crap with me playing and him tormenting the Bee by raping the whammy bar, and still it stayed in tune and no string snapping.
We want you to mosh. Now!
Can someone explain to me how I can move my nose and eyes, but not my hair or right ear?
Yup. This thing rocks. Nothing more to say about it. On a sidenote, have you any idea how much it sucks to travel around with that huge drumkit of his?
Flash photography sucks. Really. First shot including all of the other guitarist. He's our new guy. We told him we wanted to spraypaint his PRS black, but he wouldn't allow us

Mother's Day

* REMINDER *
Mother's Day is almost here.
At least get your mother a card and let her know you're thinking of her. If you can't visit, a phone call would be nice.
Grandmothers count, too. Or an aunt or a mother figure in your life that took care of you.
Is anyone here familar with the Japanese guitarist Tomoyasu Hotei?
I love his theme from 'Kill Bill'. (Although it was done for another film and it has a different title). It's an awesome piece of music.
I'm told that he's a guitar god in Japan, but I've never heard anything other then the 'Kill Bill' music.
Does anyone have any of his other music?
Don't know why I've never heard them before. Jada Pinkett can hollar. I never would have guessed that she was into that style music. I really like the video Bleed all Over Me, I think that's the one. I used to have nightmares like that when I was a kid.

However, I hope to visit Dimebag's final resting place when in Dallas and pay my respects.
So if any of you Texans can point me towards the right guitar shops, I'd be grateful!

Hetfield Recounts His Battle With Drugs...
Tearful Metallica singer recounts drugs battle By Dean Goodman
Sat May 13, 3:50 AM ET
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Metallica frontman James Hetfield fought back tears on Friday as he recounted his public battle with addiction, and labeled the grox, drugs and rock' n' roll ethos as a "horrible myth."
The 42-year-old singer/guitarist was being honored at a Hollywood fundraiser for the MusiCares MAP Fund, which provides access to addiction recovery for members of the music community.
The event, which also honored concert promoter Bill Silva, culminated in a three-song set by Hetfield and Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo, along with Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell and drummer Sean Kinney. They dusted off the Alice in Chains songs "Would?" and "Them Bones," and finished with the Metallica ballad "Nothing Else Matters."
Other performers included Tom Waits, Velvet Revolver, Jason Mraz and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
Guests included Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, Motorhead frontman Lemmy, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist Kirk Hammett, and Red Hot Chili Peppers singer Anthony Kiedis. They reclined on couches scattered throughout the Music Box @ Fonda and imbibed alcohol-free refreshments, thus avoiding the risk of any public relapses.
Hetfield began his speech asking for a moment of silence "for the people who didn't make it, that aren't with us, who could be and I think should be."
He recounted the old saw that "dying is easy, living is hard," and offered his own recovery as proof that addiction is survivable.
Five years ago, things were different, he recalled, expressing gratitude to the award-winning documentary "Some Kind of Monster," which depicted Metallica's virtual dissolution as Hetfield began a lengthy rehabilitation to treat drug and alcohol abuse.
"I think that movie helped some people, and it took the black veil away, it took the mystique and the mystery out of the rock myth 'grox, drugs and rock 'n' roll,"' he said.
"What a horrible statement, to me. It is a myth. And to have those things attached to music, which is the best drug in the whole f

' world, moves me like no other. And I thank God that I discovered that gift early on."
He alluded to his constant daily struggle, connecting with real emotions such as fear and love.
He also paid tribute to his bandmates and producer Bob Rock for saving his life daily, as well as wife Francesca and their three children, 7-year-old daughter Cali, 5-year-old son Castor, and especially 4-year-old daughter Marcella, whom he tearfully described as the glue that kept the family together during his darkest days.
Other performers chimed in with bons mots during the evening. Waits congratulated Hetfield, saying "getting sober's not for sissies."
And Velvet Revolver singer Scott Weiland dedicated the band's acoustic cover of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" to "everyone from Gram Parsons to Kurt Cobain."
The event raised about $300,000 for MAP MusiCares, which is part of the National Academy of Recordings Arts and Sciences, the group that organizes the Grammy Awards.

SD Twin Tube Classic Review
by Jaxx on Sun May 14, 2006 12:51 am
it's a keeper...
testing done with PRS Cu24, Dean EVO Premium with JB/59, Warmoth Tele with Lil59 & Duncan neck, Dean Z with Dimarzio vintage mini buckers, Fender Am Std Strat with KA lipsticks, thru Vox AC30CC 2x12 and Mesa Blue Angel 4x10...
first, plenty of volume on tap so it's easy to set it for parity when bypassed and works great used as a boost as well...
it's very transparent sounding on either channel and all settings i tried....VERY tube amp sounding, in fact, the most so that i've heard...
i especially love the Rhythm channel....wide range of low gain old school OD here...easy to dial in slight push to low OD with all guitars...this channel alone justifies the purchase for me...
small adjustments to EQ and Volume/Gain were all that was needed for different guitars...and even some of these weren't REALLY necessary...
while the Lead channel has more than enuff gain on tap for anything this side of heavy metal, i was pleasantly surprised to see it starting off BEFORE where the Rhythm channel ends but with a little different flavor and feel...this allows a Lead setting that sounds good with the gain down...
the shared EQ presented no problems for me and i tend to be picky about that...the EQ also presented good taper and easy control...setting and forgetting is easily accomplished leaving minor tone variations to your guitar's tone pot...
the only nitpicking niggle i could find is that for bassy guys like me, you may have to watch for a boomy low E...but i have to watch that with most of my gear anyway...
the layout is simple and effective...build quality seems excellent....
it will knock my Fulldrive II out of it's #1 spot...
i was leaning towards the Vox Big Ben before this started getting reviews but i like the Twin Tube better due to it's wider low gain range and versatility...
it gets the 4 BadJaxx Award

( "REMITTANCE OF $15 MILLION U.S.A DOLLARS
CONFIDENTIAL IS THE CASE")
Compliment Of The Season,
On a very good day. I am (Mr swarry musa Esq) a senior staff in file department in African developent bank(ADB).I got your contact from a Yahoo Tourist Search.
When i was searching for a foreign partner i assured of your capability and reliability to champion this businees opportunity when i prayed to God or Allah about you.In my department we discovered an abandoned sum of $15 million U.S.A dollars ( fifteen million U.S.A dollars) .
In an account that belongs to one of our foreign customer who died along with his entire family in (Monday 31St July 2000) in a plane crash. Since we got information about his death, we have been expecting his next of kin to come over and claim his money because we cannot release it unless somebody applies for it as next of kin or relation to the deceased as indicated in our banking guidelines, but unfortunately we learnt that all his supposed next of kin or relation died alongside with him at the plane crash leaving nobody behind for the claim.
It is therefore upon this discovery that I and one official in my department now decided to make this businness proposal to you and release the money to you as the next of kin or relation to the deceased for safety and subsequent disbursement since nobody is coming for it and we don’t want this money to go into the bank treasury as unclaimed bill.
The Banking law and guideline here stipulates that if such money remained unclamed after five years, the money will be transfered into the Bank treasury as unclaimed fund.
The request of foreigner as next of kin in this business is occasioned by the fact that the customer was a foreigner, and a Burkinabe cannot stand as next of kin to a foreigner. We agree that 30 % of this money will be for you as foreign partner, in respect to the provision of a foreign account, 10 % will be set aside for expenses incured during the business and 60 % would be for ;me and my woman colleague. There after I and my colleague will visit your country for disbursement according to the percentages indicated.
Therefore to enable the immediate trnansfer of this fund to you as arranged, you must apply first to the bank as relations or next of kin of the deceased indicating your bank name, your bank account number, your
private telephone and fax number for easy and effective communication and location where the money will be remitted.Upon receipt of your reply, I will send to you by fax or email the text of the application. I will not fail to
bring to your notice that this transaction is hitch free and that you should not entertain any atom of fear as all required arrangements have been made for the transfer.
You should contact me on my email immediately as
soon as you receive this letter. Trusting to hear from you immediately.GOD BLESS YOU.
Your’s faithfully,
SWARRY musa (Esq.)
POST SCRITUM:You have to keep everything secret as to enable the transfer to move very smoothly in to the account you will prove to the bank.As you finished reading this letter call me immediately so that we discuss very well over this business. Please call me and inform me that you received my mail, because i don't go to net always.MEY GOD BLESS YOU.

I've lost respect for Ted Nugent now
TED NUGENT Says PANTERA's Version Of 'Cat Scratch Fever' Had "No Soul, No Balls" - May 14, 2006
Ted Nugent has slammed PANTERA's cover of his signature tune "Cat Scratch Fever" as having "no soul, no balls" and "no feel," adding that the members of PANTERA appeared as "Ozzy-like zombies on TV" whose conduct on stage went against his lifelong anti-drugs and -drink stance.
Responding to a fan posting on Nugent's official message board (dubbed "The Nuge Board") about late PANTERA guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott and the VH1 "Behind the Music" special on PANTERA that premiered this past Thursday, Ted (who posts on the message board under the name "Nuge") wrote that he "never thought too highly of anyone foolish enough to take on the nickname of a life-destroying dope product and promote such family-destroying conduct on stage." (Apparently referring to the fact that Darrell's "Dimebag" nickname is a slang term for a $10 bag of marijuana.)
When another fan pointed out that Dimebag "loved" Nugent's music and that he had stated in a magazine interview that he often played some of Ted's riffs before a show to loosen up the fingers — going so far as to cover "Cat Scratch Fever" for the 1999 "Detroit Rock City" soundtrack — Nugent responded, "though I'm no expert on all things PANTERA, I did hear their version of 'Cat Scratch Fever' and it was exceedingly white. No soul, no balls, no feel. Caucasian all the way. Elements of dope, booze and heroin disconnect quite apparent as usual. There is no excuse for such horrifically negative, irresponsible, criminal, America-wrecking behavior as such chimp-like substance abuse. Period. They appeared as Ozzy-like zombies on TV. Ya think. American drunks and dopers are allahpuke terrorists' favorite allies. Damn them. Damn them all."
After the fan who started the original thread (who calls himself "the_A_team") defended Dimebag by saying that "you have to at least respect Dime as a guitarist," adding that "even though he did drugs, I heard he didn't do very many," Nugent replied, "I indeed do respect all people for the positives in their life. Hello,
Please let me know when you will send the item to me since I have paid for it a week ago and you received the money, why don't you answer to my emails? if you don't respond now I will contact eBay fraud department and report you!
I will wait for your reply ASAP.

Secrets Of The P90Z..Some Photos Added pg 2...
by BTMN on Sun May 14, 2006 7:36 pm
Oh the Horror!!!!!! My P90Z has Epiphone pickups in it!?!?!!!
On top of that I found that the Duncan P90s I got for it are taller than the originals. Looks like I shall have to seek out the Master to repair this situation.
Epiphones!!!! Ok I'm not mad about it but does that mean all the other P90 Dean guitars have Epiphone pickups?
I don't think there's been any similar thread on the board ...

What was the first CD you bought ?

IN MY PANTS SONG NAME GAME
I remember this game from the forum a while ago and it was funny as hell. I could use a good laugh so here's how it works if you don't remember. Say the title of a song then put "in my pants" at the end.

Blacken My Soul, a band of mid twenties musicians with drive and experience seek a Dynamic and energetic Vocalist and front person to complete their lineup. We've been bouncing around the idea of a female vocalist ( IE: Lullacry, Lacuna Coil), but w're more concerned with a solid and versatile voice, We have a a slew of original material and a demo already in the works. You can hear work in progress at www.myspace.com/blackenmysoul
The Track with vocals is done only as a place holder, and those vocals are NOT the final product.
We practice in Pennsburg PA, and sometimes in Jim Thorpe. We have regular shows lined up and want t be up and going as soon as possible.

Jet Speed Records...........
by harley on Sun May 14, 2006 10:09 pm
Does anyone know anything about them? Legit? Douchenozzles?
web address is www.jetspeedrecords.com
My sons band sent them a promo pack and they sent a contract back in return and are interested in bringing them to CA for some studio time to record a full cd
I have not seen the contract yet, but they are having a family member lawyer look at it and I have a friend that is an "entertainment attorney" and will have him take a look before I let my son sign it.
Basic contract is all I know.
Also mentioned in the return letter were things about a tour and possible Warp Tour action as well.
Randy, Kris, anyone else want to share your thoughts?
I'll let you all know what find as things progress.
The band is Audio Ninja, their new stuff is on myspace.com/ninjavanish2

Yes, I'm out of the grave again, leg is working again and so am I.
I am wanting a new Cadillac. Nothing overly exotic this time, Just a new White Cadillac, and one that is perfect....I.E. no detectable feel between the binding and body, perfectly smooth, a perfect line of white and black on the top of the body...again perfectly smooth and no uneven line of filler, and a white headstock not black, ditto the perfect part up there also.
I'd prefer silver hardware....but I will change that out my self as well as some Duncan Invader pick-ups.

Hey Guys,

Anyone excited about the "V coustic" ???
There might be a topic on this but i wouldn't know because i've never even been in the acoustic section. I think the acoustic V's look pretty badass and i want to get one for my first acoustic
(since i was 8 but i didnt even really learn to play on that)
anyone else interested in these? do you think it will still sound good with the thin body design n such? i dont know much about acoustics.
Some non-metal music i have been groovin on lately.....
Every once and a while i come accross some music outsicde of the norm that i usually listen to.. that i like enough to buy the cd... In this case It Butch Walker it is the 2nd cd i have bought from this guy and i have to say i am a fan..
i picked up the latest album "letters"( www.butchwalker.com ).. it really is a great album.. every song is good.. he is an amazing singer/song writer/ producer and not a bad guitar player either.. If that name sounds familiar to all you hair metal guys.. he was the guitar player for southgang. I cant immagine why he doesn't get more radio play...
DISCLAIMER: i am usually not a big pop music fan but i havent taken this cd out of my player for 2 weeks. I don't expect any of the metal freaks or the Dime heads to like him.. but i hope some of you enjoy as much as i do...here are some clips..

Coffin "Blood Drive" Pedal
Not sure if this will actually be decent or just a gimmic.I'm always wary of pedals that have controls with stupid names on them.Made By MXR....
Introducing The Coffin "BLOOD DRIVE" Distortion pedal
Coffin has teamed up with Dunlop/MXR to create a line of Coffin shaped effects pedals guaranteed to raise the dead. The first deadly pedal is a "high gain" over drive/distortion called The Blood Drive! Coffin pedals are made in the USA and constructed from high grade materials.
I know this is a Dean forum but I have been told to not talk about a guitar without posting pics. I found this guitar on ebay and fell in love with it. It is a handcrafted custom one-of-kind made by Dave Bauer out of Fort Wayne, IN. These are the specs:

Brass typical Side Dot Markers. Hot Rod 2-Way Adjustable Truss Rod. Corian Bone Nut and Truss Rod Cover. And now the PORN!!!
C'mon guys. Tell me what you think.
GOT A HARD QUESTION! EVERYONE GIVE ME AN ANSWERE!

Need an honest opinion on the Razorback
Ok guys, right now i'm looking at deans, really big on Dime like im sure a lot of you guys are. Currenly I have a gibson sg standard.
Ok, so my Sg was roughly 1400. The Deans i have been seeing have been 1100, but from some people i have asked they arent "american made" like the 1400 sg . What kind of league is the guitar in? I know the styles arent comparable. But can anyone kind of give me some opinions on what I would be getting for the money, or if I would have to take the 4500 beating for the other ones.
Thanks.

Booster pedal ideas., tuner pedals...any info?
Just wondering what the majority of you are using in terms of booster type pedals, something you stomp on to 'cut thru' the mix for solos. I've been using a muliteffects unit, the Boss GT8 but I'm going back to individual pedals for live situations.
What I'm looking for is a simple, analob, true bypass unit that gives a nice kick with minimal fuss....do most use an equalizer? I was thinking that could be an option.
As a bonus, what are you using (if you are) for a pedal style tuner? The Boss tuner looks good, but do any of you have some experience with a rack mount or something that allows you to 'supertune'...ie, to actual cents of tone?....
Thanks!

haha, ok, we had a couple songs of me Fracking around, and Thomas turned on this like, turbo flange thing, so I decided I might as well make a myspace out of it. So here is me just Fracking around a little bit.
I didn't want to steal your name Randy (Randyshreds) so I just made mine "Ricky Solo's" hahahaha.
Ok, so here it is.

SCALLOPING UPDATE AND OTHER PICS
You DEFIINATELY want to wear a mask when your sanding, I learned the hard way. It's comming along, I think I'll only go to the fifteenth fret though.
This has been my entire rig for the past 6 or 7 months. Moded Fender Frontman 15 R, with a Metal Master, a Boss TU-2 tuner and my only axe right now as well, my razorback.

WHACHALL THINK?

Today started like every other Monday, BAD! I didn't want to get up for work and hell I didn't have to go in till 2:00 pm. Well I took a shower to wake me up and it helped alittle so I got dressed and was sitting in my living room watching the tube until time to go to work and then the phone rings. Most of the time I don't answer cause it's a sales person but to my surprise it was Ed Roman calling me to say that my Caddy was being set up and it would ship out to me this week. Boy did that ever make my day, I ordered it over two months ago and I've been like alittle kid at Christmas ever since. You see last September my guitar & amp was stolen, (and on my birthday too) so I'm just now starting to replace them and that is why I'm so excited to be getting a Dean. It might not be a USA Caddy but I'm sure I will love it just the same.
...anybody have difficulties installing these on their MLs? I've read that they can damage the finish of the guitar...plus, with the upper strap pin on the rear of the guitar, it might make an issue fitting the case nicely, but the ML cases are pretty accomodating. I'm mainly concerned about the wear on the finish....but I can just tell the strap would come off the lil guys that come on this thing stock.
Any opinions? Am I worrying too much?
No sleep.

You guys need to start not sleeping. Yeah, stay up a couple nights and get back to me on that one.

a day of huge disappointment
back on the 27th of april i was told that my slime bumblebee razorback had FINALLY hit the shores of the UK....
whohoo!!!
i was told that once BILL LEWINGTON (the uk importer & distributor) had checked over the guitar it would be overnighted to the guy who i am purchasing it from and it'd be mine...finally..
well i didnt hear anything by the end of the following week...so i called...and apparently bill lewingtons guys n gals had all been busy setting up guitars for their stand at the london show for the coming weekend....and hadnt been able to caarry out the checks and setting up of guitars..
and the guy who i was getting mine from was going to be on holiday the following week...
so i was told to expect a phone call today telling me to come collect my nice shiney new razorback...
whoohooo!!
by 10 am i had heard nothing.....so i called....
apparently the nice fella who i am gettin it from had a delivery from bill lewington....and my guitar is on the delivery note....
then someone has scribbled it out.
so he doesnt have my guitar..
he doesnt know what happened to it.....i am still waiting for him to call back..
so i call bill lewington directly......apparently "we lost 2....and sent one for a review in a guitar magazine"
so i dont have my guitar.....
apparently dean let them down on the order.....and no more are being despatched to the uk until mid june....allegedly.....so thats atleast mid july until...at the earliest....
and even then i am not holding my breath...
i was told mid jan when i placed the order..
kinda losing faith quite alot on this one
i was gonna order a razorback bass too......but i seriously doubt that now
OK where the hell did these guys come from?
The String Cheese Incident??
I was at the CD store last night and I noticed that this band had not 1 row of CD's but 2!?! Most of the CD's were priced at 19.99 and higher! (normally this store charges 11.99 to 13.99 for CD's)
I just found it wierd that a band I've never heard of had just as much shelf space as The Beatles or Led Zepplin. Plus that their CD's are priced so high?
I checked out thier website and that only confused me further? I did notice that they have an accordian and an upright bass in the band, so this maybe something I have to check out.
Can anybody shed some light on me here? What genre of music do they fit and why the hell do they have so many Ding Dang CD's!?
