ALZHEIMERS' EYE TEST

Count every " F " in the following text:

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE
SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTI
FIC STUDY COMBINED WITH
THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS...

(SEE BELOW)

HOW MANY?

3?

WRONG, THERE ARE 6 -- no joke.
READ IT AGAIN!
Really, go Back and Try to find the 6 F's before you scroll down.

The reasoning behind is further down.

The brain cannot process "OF".

Incredible or what?
Go back and look again!

Anyone who counts all 6 "F's" on the first go is a genius.
Three is normal, four is quite rare.

by JA Allen on Thu Jun 01, 2006 2:42 pm
I know his contract was under another situation, and the money thing and all that went on and is all over the trade papers, then him leaving his "ask faust" original production company, and that whole trademark lawsuit.......

But I think it should be brought back ASAP, Why cant these things be worked out, so the chemistry stays the same, I mean, even Halford went back to Priest.....

Batwoman Is A Lesbian!!!
by JACKHOLE on Thu Jun 01, 2006 6:33 pm
Batwoman is back as a lesbian By LARRY McSHANE, Associated Press Writer
Wed May 31, 6:12 PM ET

NEW YORK - Years after she first emerged from the Batcave, Batwoman is coming out of the closet. DC Comics is resurrecting the classic comic book character as a lesbian, unveiling the new Batwoman in July as part of an ongoing weekly series that began this year.

The 5-foot-10 superhero comes with flowing red hair, knee-high red boots with spiked heels, and a form-fitting black outfit.

"We decided to give her a different point of view," explained Dan DiDio, vice president and executive editor at DC. "We wanted to make her a more unique personality than others in the Bat-family. That's one of the reasons we went in this direction."

The original Batwoman was started in 1956, and killed off in 1979. The new character will share the same name as her original alter ego, Kathy Kane. And the new Batwoman arrives with ties to others in the Gotham City world.

"She's a socialite from Gotham high society," DiDio said. "She has some past connection with Bruce Wayne. And she's also had a past love affair with one of our lead characters, Renee Montoya."

Montoya, in the "52" comic book series, is a former police detective. Wayne, of course, is Batman's true identity — but he has disappeared, along with Superman and Wonder Woman, leaving Gotham a more dangerous place.

The "52" series is a collaboration of four acclaimed writers, with one episode per week for one year. The comics will introduce other diverse characters as the story plays out.

"This is not just about having a @#$%&$@ character," DiDio said. "We're trying for overall diversity in the DC universe. We have strong African-American, Hispanic and Asian characters. We're trying to get a better cross-section of our readership and the world."

The outing of Batwoman created a furor of opinions on Web sites devoted to DC Comics. Opinions ranged from outrage to approval. Others took a more tongue-in-cheek approach to the announcement.

"Wouldn't ugly people as heroes be more groundbreaking?" asked one poster. "You know, 200-pound woman, man with horseshoe hair loss pattern, people with cold sores, etc.?"

DiDio asked that people wait until the new Batwoman's appearance in the series before they pass judgment.

"You know what? Judge us by the story and character we create," he said. "We are confident that we are telling a great story with a strong, complex character."

DiDio spent most of the morning fielding phone calls from media intrigued by the Batwoman reinvention.

"It's kind of weird," he said. "We had a feeling it would attract some attention, but we're a little surprised it did this much."

Reviews on some of the guitars i played on today+ Randall G3
by Levy on Thu Jun 01, 2006 9:25 pm
kk, i went downtown today (instead of school haha), and spent like 2 hrs in the guitar store; well the first thing i saw wen i entered was a nice respective wall of Deans! about 8 of em. the first axe i grabbed to try out on the new Randall g3 combo 100 watts (review later on this thread) was a guitar i waited a very long time to try; an ltd Alexi Laiho model, though it is a V guitar it is quite comfortable, the ebony fretboard felt very good and fast, the original floyed bridge was amazing, yet the EMG hz-4 wasnt my type of pickup. neck contour actually felt alot like my FBDs, yet neck was a through body. sounded really good and heavy.
Total of Laiho model: 8.5/10 id give it a nine but the EMG wasnt to my liking.
price: 1399$

next one i tried was USA limited edition Schenker V (4,100 dollars!), this was axe was everything i expected it to be, V neck was absolutly amazing (very fast), ebony fretboard was really nice and fast, V body again was surprisingly comfortable, pickups were OK, nothing amazing, not as reflective as i thought they would be. Bridge felt good. this axe sounds amazing!
Total: 9.5/10, not a 10 because it didnt have a floyed (which i love to have).

Next one was a Gibson les paul classic, cherryburst; well i expected alot out of this guitar, but unfortunatly didnt get it, body was way too heavy and thick, i couldnt reach the higher frets (19-22) for sh*t, pickups were good, neck contour was good too and so was the rosewood fretboard. the only thing i really liked was the flame top, which was stunning. sound was pretty good overall
Total: 7/10; no floyed, heavy, thick, ok pickups. price: 2159$

the last axe ill rate is the PRS santana model; this guitar was an amazing guitar for the money (699), sounded real good, pickups were finally reflective enough to handle harmonics and sh*t, neck was fast, so was the fretboard.
total: 8/10.

Ok, my last review for today is for the new Randall G3 100 watt combo; well, how long have i waited to try this fu*ker? a long time. and finally the day came, and i was NOT dissapointed from randall; alot of power for a combo, gain was amazing (2 choices; classic and modern), and so was the clean. u have a reverb choice too.
total: 8.5/10, i loved the amp.

good day!

Help Needed Again! Wireless Internet problem!
by Cannibalistic Epitaph on Fri Jun 02, 2006 4:36 pm
First off, Im on the 2nd shitty pc right now.

Second off. Here's the problem guys:

In the office, there is the:

Motorola SB5100 Surfboard Modem
Dling Dl-624 Wireless Router
And in each of the 2 computers (in seperate rooms) there is a Zonet ZEW2500p USB WLAN IEEE 802.11g card

Now in the office there is no pc, to access the router you must hook up the laptop which isnt here right now.

And i just reinstalled windows xp, i have the drivers and everything for my card installed and ive connected to our network i guess, it says im online and receiving stuff and yea...

BUTTTT. I cant get on the internet, I click on IE and it gives the Error page. Even though my card and the 2 little computers say im online.

PLEASE HELP!
I HATE old drivers.
by I on Fri Jun 02, 2006 4:37 pm
I just drove to Ft. Wayne IN from Huntington In, about a 50 mile total trip. I was almost crashed 3 times by 3 different 70+ drivers.

First i was on a 4 lane divided highway and some old lady was driving in the passing lane so i tried to pass her, right when our cars were next to each other, she drifted into my lane pushing my off the road, almost into the ditch.

Next i was coming to a light, and it turned yellow. The car in front of me entered the intersection right when the light turned red, i followed, and the car hit the breaks because she saw the light.

Then on my way back on the 4 lane divided highway, a car on an intersecting lane was turning left, crossed the first part of the highway and was at the median. right when i was crossing, he turned into my lane again pushing me off the road.

im glad to be out of my car.

666 As A Marketing Tool...
by JACKHOLE on Fri Jun 02, 2006 6:08 pm
Some people will do anything to make a buck...

Marketers hope 666 will be their lucky number By Laura Petrecca, USA TODAY
Thu Jun 1, 7:20 AM ET

It only comes once a century and it's sure to be a devil of a day: June 6, 2006 is the sixth day of the sixth month of the sixth year.

As in 666, the "number of the beast" or Anti-christ in the Bible's Book of Revelations. But that link to the agent of Lucifer certainly isn't scaring marketers.

It's the day 20th Century Fox picked to release its remake of the 1976 satanic horror flick The Omen, about a demonic boy Damien born with a 666 birthmark. Promos warn: "6+6+06 HEED THE OMEN."

Studio executives saw the potential early in script development, says Fox Filmed Entertainment CEO Tom Rothman.

"Suddenly the movie became cooler," he says. "We were being spoken to."

It required, however, breaking the traditional Friday release pattern to go with a Tuesday.

"It took months of work with exhibitors," says Rothman. But he thinks it'll heighten the horror. "When audiences go to scary movies, they want to get the chills. The date helps with that audience participation."

The date brought out the devil in conservative author Ann Coulter. When asked in an interview on Fox's Your World with Neil Cavuto about the symbolism of June 6 for the release of her book Godless: The Church of Liberalism, she said, "It's my little tribute to liberals to have it come out on six, six, six."

Also on Tuesday, thrash-metal band Slayer will release Eternal Pyre, a five-tune EP, through teen store Hot Topic. It seems like a hex was put on their more elaborate plans for the day: The plans to release the full album were thwarted when they couldn't secure studio time, and the scheduled launch on Tuesday of their "Unholy Alliance" tour was thwarted by a band member's unexpected gallbladder surgery.

Disturbingly dark death metal group Deicide, led by a Satanist front man, will mark the day with two new songs on iTunes from its upcoming album The Stench of Redemption. It, too, had a devil of a time trying to get the whole album out on the day.

"It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, but in the end it didn't work out," says Zeena Koda, a spokeswoman for its label, Earache.

Brooklyn-based brewer Sixpoint Craft Ales is teaming with Manhattan bar The Stoned Crow to host a "Shout at the Devil" promotion Tuesday: Burgers and fries will sell for $6.66, while six varieties of Sixpoint beer will flow from six taps.

"Sixes are wild next week," says Sixpoint President Andy Bronstein.

Biblical scholars, such as University of North Texas religion studies professor Joe Barnhart, say there's no religious significance to the date. But that's not stopping Christian businesses from marking it.

Tyndale House on Tuesday will release The Rapture, the 15th title in the apocalyptic Left Behind series that has sold more than 43 million books. Web ads ask: "06.06.06 Will you be ready?"

The Parable Group of Christian stores partnered with Tyndale for a June 6 offering of the earlier Left Behind books in paperback for $6.66.

Yet, some marketers say they aren't trying to taunt the Anti-christ - or stir up a 666 controversy.

Despite Coulter's gallows humor, her publisher, Crown Forum, said via e-mail that the release date for Godless was selected "before the book had a working title." It said it releases books on Tuesdays, and chose June 6 to be early in the summer reading season.

Likewise, spokeswoman Elaine Schock insists CMH Records' release Tuesday of Strummin' With The Devil, a bluegrass album tribute to Van Halen from David Lee Roth and other artists, is purely coincidental.

"It really wasn't a devil thing," says Schock.

Some businesses, such as hospitals, may have fewer customers on Tuesday.

Alisa Naceille was due to have her baby by cesarean section on Tuesday, but her husband, Peter Kuhn, had worried about the date. On her way to a checkup, she passed a billboard that read: "You Have Been Warned 6+6+06." She didn't realize it was an ad for The Omen; her first thought was, "This must be a sign."

The surgery is now scheduled for June 7.
Question about tone and Floyds
by atarilovesyou on Fri Jun 02, 2006 8:13 pm
...here's the question. Lots of folks seem to think that the Floyd Rose robs a guitar's tone by way of not having the strings vibrate through the wood like you would in a fixed bridge (which I still don't believe unless you're talking an acoustic guitar).

I don't really believe this is the case, but I'm not sure. Look at EVH's legendary 'brown sound'....which didn't really fully evolve until "Fair Warning"....and he was using Floyd Rose trems almost exclusively at that point. So I just don't buy it, that Floyds 'rob' tone. Perhaps a shitty Floyd on a shitty guitar robs tone, but that tone wasn't there to begin with. And the fact that the steel strings are clamped directly into the bridge and nut doesn't mean that they're going to vibrate any more or less than the strings that are in, say, a stock Fender Strat bridge....or does it?

Bottom line is how it sounds to your ears, not how it looks to your eyes (which is what MANY gearheads go by...not the result, but the parts....missing the forest for the trees)

Anybody agree with me?

As I Lay Dying Covers - Through Struggle/Falling Upon Deaf Ears

Alrighty, 90 degrees out, no shade, new singer and new guitarist. The guitarist was his first time on stage, and the vocalist learned all the lyrics in one week, so he didn't want to mess up. I'll get part two up soon. Part one is all covers. Part two is our own songs.

That was the battle of the bands last week for us. I'm the one with the long hair. Not our greatest show (stupid wrong note in solo), and not the greatest quality, but whatever. Check out and tell me what you think.

every damn time somebody kicks the door in on the vampire mansion and angrilly marches thru and everyone just sits there and stares at them as they walk past... btw this mantion everything is black and red... its the hottopic mantion... and its filled with these hottopic goth vampires sitting around drinking black blood out of wine glasses. maybe its just ink *voice changes to arogant stereotype vampire goth person voice* i'm so goth I s#%t black!....

of course this discussion always lead to the discussion of the "ultra goth"

Holy Mudvayne!!!
by Darrell_Mustaine on Sat Jun 03, 2006 5:27 am
Ive been learning a Couple Mudvayne songs From LD50, its mostly simple and easy to play, but some of the timings are really strange, my buddy Andrew comes over and plays my dads drums, hes not as good as my drummer, but he's decent, and Zakk(my drummer) is more into older metal, mostly Megadeth.

But my point is, check out the song (K)now F(orever), and then tell me theres no good new metal, most of the parts are easy to play, its just remembering the ordder everything is in.....and the wierd timings.....

Today's review: Deans, gibsons , jackson, Marshall, more
by Levy on Sat Jun 03, 2006 5:43 am
Well, again downtown today, and has alot more time today to check out axes and amps (2.5 hrs), let me first say that the moment i walked in i saw 2 NEW deans there, which werent there yesterday.. probably because Vinnie Paul is coming here tomrow (goin again there); a dimeOflame and a DFH korean.

ok, reviews today will include: 2 deans, 1 gibson, 1 jackson, 1 Ibanez, 1 Marshall, 1 "Death metal" distortion pedal by digitech.

lets start wit the deans:
DFH korean- well, a beautifully designed guitar, amazing V neck (very fast), very nice floyed (liscensed), good pickups. This guitar was probably one of the best players ive played on; killer sound and sustain, neck felt so frackin smooth (V neck) and fast, rosewood was very nice and fast. Although the guitar wasnt quite setup the way i like it, it felt very good, bridge wasnt high, yet not too low. my only small problem was the Bill Lawerence, who actually had an amazing sound, but didnt quite take the harmonics the way my dimebucker does. (I probably set half an hour or more on this axe)
Total: 9.5/10
Price: 1399 w/ case.

The next and last dean i grabbed there was the Black and Gold Z; again, beautiful axe, sounds very good, pickups were actually quite reflective, bridge felt great (and i usually dont like guitars without a floyed or whammy bridge setup), neck was abit thinner then my FBD's, so ya a bit faster too. Overall sounds great, very comfortable. Possible problems; No floyed, thats it!
Total: 8.5/10
Price: 989 w/ case.

Since my last encounter wit a gibson les paul wasnt quite, lets say GOOD as it should of been, i grabbed a more expensive one, a classic dark sunburst one, with specially designed pickups from Gibson. well first, wen i plugged it in, it took almost 5 seconds for the sound to come out (and it wasnt the cable), then we were up and running: first impressions: wonderful top and color, nice classic body shape, SPECTACULAR piece of Mahogany wood, too thick and heavy. ok, but wat really important is... the SOUND; pickups were not quite good, not reflective, difference between the Treble and Rytheme pickups wasnt too big. actually the pickup switch was backwards! wen i tried the rythem mode, it put on the treble mode! well not too hard to fix. sound overall was ok, good for rock/hard rock (guns and roses s#%t like stuff). another problem was that the guitar is soooo frackin heavy on its bigger side, and makes it slip to the right wen playin seating down.
Overall: 7/10
price: 2229 w/ case.

Note: these 3 guitars were played on the randall rg100 G3 (great amp), the following guitar and gear were used on a Marshall jcm somethin (fuk i dont remember the model #) + a death metal digitech pedal:

Jackson soloist (EMG'S hz): it was D tuned, looks quite ok, blue, bolt on construction, liscensed floyed (79 series style); emgs sounded good on this axe, reflective, took my sh*t very well, very heavy sound, not much sustain though.
Total: 7/10
Price: 649 w/case.

Ibanez rg series 3 pickups: again Blue color, bolt on construction, 2 humbuckers + 1 single coil infinity 3 pickups, edge 3 bridge:
this axe actually sounded great wit this setup (marshall + pedal), heavy sound, good sustain for a bolt on. alot of guitar for the money. fun to play overall.
Total: 7.5/10
Price: 459 w/ case.

The Marshall ive tried was the JCM model, but a cheaper one, also a combo. sounds good overall, nice effects on it (reverb and delay). nice clean especially, good overdriven mode.
Total: 7.5/10
Price: 629.

Ok, last review for today will be digitechs "death metal" distortion pedal: this thing is for... DEATH METAL, oh ya.. has an amazing sound produced, especially wit the EMG's on the jackson ( i played some Lamb of God stuff on it, and sounded amazing!). very easy to use.
Total: 9/10; very simple and good.
Price: 77.79 (!!!).

Hope u enjoyed readin, good night!

by DREAD PIRATE REDBEARD on Sat Jun 03, 2006 3:37 pm
I've had this '79 series cherry sunburst ML for the better part of a year now, but until recently I havent given it any serious set up or play time. I got it just before we went on our last deployment which was 7 months and then when I got home I was way too enthralled for the past 3 months with the 2 USA's that were delivered while I was gone. Now that I've been playing this one some more, I am very impressed with it, especially because I only paid $330 shipped from music123. I think its time to change the pickups though. I know I'm gonna get a BL L500XL for the bridge and a L500L for the neck. My friend had that combo in his PRS custom 22 and it was quite awesome. My only question is what color would look the best. I'm thinkin all white for both, but I'm open to suggestions. What do you guys think?

Friday Night Shopping With The Wife
by jim6 on Sat Jun 03, 2006 6:14 pm
Last night, that most feared of all phrases was heard.

"Do you want to go shopping with me?"

Answer "no" and you may be in the doghouse. Answer "yes" and you're shopping. Tough call. I said "yes".

We went to a new shopping district here in Kansas City called Zona Rosa. Fairly close to our home. It's an outdoor shopping area designed to be the polar opposite of a mall. Very nice. Anyhow, we find a parking space and walk toward a shoe store. Across the street from there is a green area with the fountains in the sidewalk and kids running around in the water. AND LIVE MUSIC on the concrete steps. I offer to sit and enjoy the music while she shops for shoes. No, dear, really, take all the time you want.......

The artist was Bob Walkenhorst and it was a three-piece acoustic outfit. Bob is from the area and was originally in a band called Steve, Bob & Rich (saw them a lot in college) and The Rainmakers, which had a fairly decent degree of success and one notable fan in Stephen King.

A beautiful Friday night. GREAT music. Kids playing in the fountains. And not standing in a shop with an impatient look.

I'm glad she asked me to go shopping with her.

My DOA V sounds all kinds of weird. When I'm on just the bridge pickup it sounds out of phase like on the USA Deans when your 2 volumes are all the way up and you flip it to the middle position and when you turn the tone knob all the way down the volume goes away. I don't know what the deal is I didn't do anything to the wiring it just all of a sudden got mad at me and said "I'm gonna sound like poopy today" I guess. PLEASE help me out guys!!

Chance to vote for my band
by n-turbo on Sun Jun 04, 2006 2:41 am
Hey, this isn't a presidential election so get it done.

I just wanted to let everyone know that my band Deep Down Inc. played the battle of the bands today at Reliant Stadium in front of about 10,000 season ticket holders. Three bands were chosen to play this event with the winner to be decided by the fans via an internet vote. By all accounts we clearly won the contest. It is possible that the best band might not win if not enough votes are cast on the Texans website. Visit the following link and vote for our band Deep Down Inc. (name and email required to vote)

http://www.houstontexans.com/battleofthebands/

They will be posting video later on this week on the Texans website so you can check us out, but please vote for us (and often!!!) Please feel free and compelled to forward to everyone in your address book and lets keep this thing going until the vote closes!!!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to let everyone know that my good friend and partner Ron Keel has decided to leave his band IronHorse to devote more time to his solo career. With that being said and having been given Ron's blessing I have been asked and accepted the job as the new lead singer for IronHorse. I appreciate the confidence that Ron and the band have in me to take the reigns and take IronHorse to the next level. I hope all of my forum family will go take a look at the new IronHorse myspace site as well as my myspace site(which is very Dean oriented) and ask to be added as a "FRIEND" if you have an account. On both sites you will find up to date news, tour dates, merchandise, music, videos and pictures. The IronHorse site is still under construction but I can promise when it is finished it will be as top notch as my site is!(Thanks to Richard(metalhead) on the Dean forum for all his hard work on the sites) Below are the addresses for both myspace sites and I hope you will check both of them out!

natural harmonics
by MetalMonkey on Mon Jun 05, 2006 11:22 am
just a question about natural harmonics

I did some squeals today with the natural harmonics on 7th, 5th and 4th fret of the G string ... and then I made a mistake and put my finger a little over the 3rd fret and I managed to do a natural harmonic there

so I figured out I could make harmonics on the 3rd fret (a little past the fret, so a little in between the 3rd and the 4th frets) and on the 2nd fret (a little in between the 2nd and 3rd too)

anybody knows what are those harmonics ? cause all the stuff I read about natural harmonics only talk about 12th, 7th, 5th and 4th frets natural harmonics ... Confused

i've been a long time horror movie fan so, i got excited when i read about this and thought i would share. i can't wait to see what direction he goes with this. should be interesting. i thought house of 1000 corpses was a pretty good flick, never saw the devils rejects yet...although i've heard good things about it. the new halloween won't be out 'till 2007 though. what do you guys think? think it'll be a hit or flop worse than a fat chicks titties on a diving board? Where's my Dean?!
by Darth Jester on Mon Jun 05, 2006 6:50 pm
This is pretty frustrating, there just isn't a way for me to get a Dean guitar, no matter how badly I want one.

Six months ago I ordered Dime-O-Flame from a local music store, but after six moths of waiting I've lost all hope for it to arrive. So, gotta make another try, I'm desperately looking for Razorback twotone, no luck. There is no importer here in Finland for Deans, no websites that has it, nothing... All hope is lost, I have to settle for my old Jackson for the rest of my life? Confused

Pointless topic I admit, but I needed to went my thoughts to other Dean dudes. Very Happy This is pain!!
Check these guys out!!!!!!!!!!!

I admit that I spend WAY too much time on the computer, but I can't help myself. All school year I dreamed about how nice it would be to be able to play guitar all day, but now I spend my entire day on the computer and it's not even fun. I just keep making stupid excuses for myself, making it seem like it's okay to stay on the computer for "just untill ____". It's getting rediculous, but I don't know how to focus and get back to guitar and start reading up on theory. I really need your guys' help, because this totally sucks and I need to play a LOT more. I just feel like I don't have the energy to play, and when I do it's only for 2-3 sessions of an hour or so and I don't read any of my theory book that I should. What should I do?
GETTING DIMEVISION (where should I buy it?)

1000 friggin posts and the only thing I can say is HOW CAN FAUST SPEND SO MUCH TIME HERE? On a more serioius note, my 1000th post resolution is to spend more time on guitar and studying theory, much less on the computer. Rest assured I'll still swing by.
Question about speakers
by dan_plus_o on Tue Jun 06, 2006 3:30 am
Is it a good idea to mix a 60W speaker with a 150W speaker?? Would the 60W speaker blow faster because its trying to keep up with a 150W speaker?

Would running a 240W cab into a 300W head be a good idea? Or should the wattage of the cab be the same or higher then the head?

Would pluging two 16ohm cabs into a head that has two jacks for cabs make the cabs have a total of 8ohm ?

Finally finished my '57 Strat - Hot Rod all the way
by Mike9 on Tue Jun 06, 2006 2:45 pm
This guitar took about nine months to build from planning to acquring the parts to fit up and assembly. Not a cheap guitar to build as all the parts are top shelf and the electronics are cutting edge. Worth it? Absolutely!!!! Here's the specs:

Body - '57 reissue alder from Fender Japan shot in two tone nitro. I shielded all the cavities and only put enough age on it to look authentic. Nothing through the finish on this one Wink

Neck - one piece flame maple w/ebony skunk stripe. Shaved to a soft "V" profile and finished in tinted nitro with oiled back. Gotoh Vintage locking tuners @ 15:1. Earvana compensated nut.

Electronics - Suhr V60LP (low peak) single coils - the best I've ever heard. Wired to a Suhr SSC (silent single coil) back plate system - no hum. Controlled by master volume (w/treble filter), master tone and a blender pot that lets you blend in the bridge pickup as much as you like.

Bridge - Fender Vintage Tremolo, steel block, Titanium saddles (these things really ring & have killer sustain), Callahm '64 SS trem arm.

Hardware and plastic are aged.

This Strat has the broadest tone of any I've built, or played for that matter. Yes it was worth the expense - i'ts like playing grease and hearing Heaven - yeah it's a lot like grox. Cool

"Pee-wee" set to play with Adult Swim
Tuesday June 6 2:43 AM ET

"Pee-wee's Playhouse" is returning to television.

Adult Swim, Cartoon Network's late-night sister network, said Monday that it has acquired rights to all 45 half-hour episodes of the series, along with "Pee-wee's Playhouse Christmas Special." It plans to air the show at 11 p.m. Monday-Thursday starting July 10.

Adult Swim said many of the episodes have not aired on TV since the original 1986-91 run of "Pee-wee's Playhouse" on CBS' Saturday morning schedule. Pee-wee Herman alter ego Paul Reubens' career was derailed in 1991 when he was arrested for indecent exposure at a Florida porn movie theater.

The show features Pee-wee Herman welcoming various characters to his playhouse. Among the cast members are Phil Hartman, Laurence Fishburne, S. Epatha Merkerson and Natasha Lyonne.

"I'd say this was a dream come true, but I never dared to dream the 'Playhouse' would join Adult Swim's amazing lineup of cool shows!" Reubens said. "Well, maybe I did dream of it a couple of times. OK, it's a dream come true!"

"Pee-wee's Playhouse" won 22 Emmys during its original run. A complete DVD set was released in 2004.

The Adult Swim lineup also includes such shows as "Aqua Teen Hunger Force," "The Boondocks," "Robot Chicken" and "Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law" as well as acquired series "Family Guy," "Futurama" and "American Dad."

The pickup adjustment hole cracked and now it's pretty much useless so I was wondering if anybody on here had one just lying around that they weren't doing anything with. i know search for ultimate tone.... blah blah...

well there is another problem...

i was jammin today and as soon as i started jamming on a different song, or something i had come up with or what ever i felt the need to and infact did start changing the way i had this set up... but this was constant... with every differnt jam... the tone i felt i needed for each thing i was doing was so different from the next that i don't think the "ultimate tone" exists...

we are all screwed...

Modifying a non-American made guitar
by atarilovesyou on Wed Jun 07, 2006 2:27 am
Hey ya'll, I'm just wondering....a while back there was a thread with a southern accented dude on youtube..the guy who modded his "mexican strat" with "speagal tuners"...he said it had "sustain for days"....

...now, this guy was pretty much laughed at here for what appeared to be his accent and...well, pretty much that and his demonstration of his modded mexi-Strat.

It kinda made me think..hmmm, was it 'him' or the guitar that people were ripping on? Because if it's the guitar, I had to wonder....I'm in the process of modifying my MLF, and these are the things I'm doing:

Black MLF with blacked out hardware
Black Original Floyd Rose
Bill n Becky pickups, 500XL in bridge, 500R in the neck

....no "speagle" tuners, but you get the picture. During the mod I also plan on getting the frets filed down on the edges to make it a bit more comfy.

At this point, I wonder...why is it that some folks burn on dudes who modify 'lower end' guitars? Compared to a full-fledged USA Dean, which I hope to buy someday, I'm not spending a ton of cash to do so.

I guess it comes to the quality of the guitar overall. As far as Mexi Strats go I don't think they're all that awful, but even then if you bring one into a music store they'll advise against upgrading the gear...."just buy a US made Strat" is what I hear all the time.

Really though, unless the neck is crooked, the wood is warped, and paint uneven, I don't see the problem. What do you guys think? It comes to price, really. I've heard of guys upgrade entry level Ibanez guitars with new parts to bring it into the level of the Prestiges, but in that case you truly do spend the same cash that you could've just bought a Prestige. Not the case with an MLF. Comments?
New Slayer so... ah screw it, check out the other thread

But i saw the white gold which looks really nice but i also saw that it had only one humbucker ... So what is the sound whith it? Is the quality the same between the 79 and the GW?
i keep dropping my pick onstage.
by Cazz on Wed Jun 07, 2006 1:46 pm
i need some ideas for this, its not like i keep dropping it repeatedly through the gig, but ive dropped it at least once every gig for the last 4 out of five we've played.

its like, sort of embarising, coz i have to bend down and pick it up, which makes me feel like an amateur

so any cool and more importantly effective tips would be good.

this kinda reminded of Apocalyptica and their "Metallica By Four Cellos" CD ... they really play very well and all ... I don't know what you think about that but I think a violin playing can't transcribe the kind of emotions you can have on a guitar ... just my opinion though
what do you guys think about this ?

An excellent-quality audience recording of METALLICA performing an as-yet-untitled new song during their headlining appearance Tuesday (June 6) at Waldbuhne in Berlin, Germany has been posted online: Location#1, Location#2, Location#3 (password: www.metallica-world.de) (NOTE: With James Hetfield's introduction, the file clocks in at 9:37).

This sounds very promising. Solos and double bass. I was impressed.

Guitar things that make NO sense....
by atarilovesyou on Thu Jun 08, 2006 2:55 am
..for instance....I wonder:

What the hell is "Panama" all about anyway? What the hell is this song about? A dude who picks up chicks with his shiny machine who keeps the moving parts clean? Hot shoes burning down the avenue? And how exactly does the word "Panama" fit into this anyway? Like what were they thinking, Dave was drunk, looking for something to fit? And if so, why not make the song about South America? And do we need the explicit visuals of reaching down between my legs and easing the seat back? Perhaps that's what he's sayin', dude's havin' such a good time he's gotta just yell something with three syllables?? I'm gonna try that the next time I get some "ease the seat back" action.

Also, I seem to ALWAYS turn the volume knobs OFF on my guitars when I put them back in their cases. Is this something I should be worried about?

Parents Realize Next Day They Left Son At Chuck E. Cheese

POSTED: 8:00 am EDT June 6, 2006

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A 6-year-old Florida boy who was accidentally left behind by his family after they celebrated his birthday at a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant will temporarily remain in state custody.

A judge said the state Department of Children and Families will likely determine Tuesday whether Michael Emanuel can live temporarily with a relative.

Emanuel's family said they accidentally left him Saturday night and didn't notice he was missing until the next day. Each relative thought the child was with another family member.

Employees at the Boca Raton restaurant called police and the child was taken into state custody.

An attorney for the boy's mother told the judge there were 12 youngsters at the party and as they all piled into cars to leave, the boy was simply overlooked.

It was a major victory in the U.S.-led war in Iraq and the broader war on terror.

I bought one of their late CDs "Demolition" last year and first thought it was crap till this year when my dad bought me a live best-of CD ... really ... it changed my vision of the band
so I began listening to the Demolition CD again and some songs are really kick ass
a friend of my dad gave me their last CD too "Angel Of Retribution" and it's really worth listening too - a lot more metal-sounding than their 80's work

what do you guys think about their last work ?

and yeah ... I didn't catch what happened with their singer ? did they change ? or was Rob Halford their singer since the start ?
Tony Iommi is looking for unsigned bands
by MetalMonkey on Thu Jun 08, 2006 3:39 pm
"Tony is currently in the pre-production stages for series 2 of his radio series, 'Black Sunday', on Planet Rock. As with series one, he will be featuring a selection of unsigned acts on the show and is very keen to hear some new music. So if you are in a band, send a demo CD, contact details and a bit of background info about yourselves for consideration for the show to: Tony Iommi, PO Box 54373, London W2 7GD. Please do not send fan mail, begging letters, autograph requests or any other nonsense to this address — it will be binned immediately so don't waste your money on the stamps! We do not currently have the facility to accept MP3 files or listen via the web so if you want your music heard, make the effort to burn a CD. New bands that may already have a record deal but are interested in being included on Tony's show are also welcome to send CDs to the above address."

I found this info on http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/ and I thought some of you guys might be interested - check his website for more info I guess

I got the looks walking around Walmart with a piece of velcro sticking it to everything in sight - Laughing

I have a shop, but you can do this with a hand saw, or someone you know has a table saw I'm sure. All you really need is a caulking gun and a screw gun, or drill with philips bit & countersink. The shelf is 4" high in the back and I left it 1/2" off the main board to sneak cables under to neaten the look up. The angle is perfect for pedals to you don't have to use your heal, or crane your foot to reach the back ones.

I had to make two patch cables, but that's another venture. This one took me a couple of hours, but the next one will take about half that time. I cut 2" strips from the excess mat and glued them to the bottom - I don't need anti skid, but I can velcro some on if need be. It's an easy project to do so get crackin' - you can do it!!! Cool

I couldn't help myself...
by Michael on Fri Jun 09, 2006 3:22 am
Ever since high school more than 25 years ago I've wanted an LP Custom. This guy in school bought a Gibson that looked just like this. For the past few weeks I have been surfing review sites, the Epiphone forum, and any other information on-line I can find out about Epiphone to make sure it's not a POS.

It's not a Gibson, but it's not a POS either. Most comments I've read are from Gibson players that say the pups aren't quite right, but passable until you get around to changing them. The other item is that the toggle switch isn't worth a schit and should be changed out upon receipt.

A big difference is the polyurethane used on the Epi's vs. the nitro lacquer on the Gibsons. Much more exspensive and time consuming to apply and work with.

Anyway, I'm pretty excited about getting this after all of these years. I had an el-cheapo copy I bought for a couple of hundred back about '78, but it was never a really good guitar.

The BBT should be by about 3 tomorrow. I won't see it until after 8 when I get home from work. I better not find one scratch anywhere. It's shipping in a hardshell case.

by Dim3 on Fri Jun 09, 2006 12:55 pm
Well, i've been working for about 1 year now on the side of my studies and finally got enough cash for a new amp (Saving for a car too, and the job sucks :/ ), and now i've narrowed down my choise to 3 Amps.

-Peavey 6505
-Peavey JSX
-ENGL Powerball

Of these amps, i've only had the opportunity to play the Peavey 6505 (Loved it), since none of my local dealers carry the JSX or Powerball, but i've heard great things about them.

What i'm looking for in a amp is responsive sound, and not too tight dist. If you've ever played a ENGL Savage 120, you know what i mean with too tight dist. Wink

Does anyone have some opinions about these amps or maybe a site with some clips, because i'd love to hear them.

Three nuns die and go to heaven. At the Pearly Gates, they are met by St. Peter. He says, "Sisters, you all led such exemplary lives that the Lord is granting you six months to go back to earth and be anyone you wish to be.

The first nun says, "I want to be Sophia Loren;" and *poof* she's gone.

The second says, "I want to be Madonna and *poof* she's gone.

The third says, "I want to be Sara Pipalini.." St. Peter looks perplexed. "Who?" he asked.

"Sara Pipalini;" replies the nun. St. Peter shakes his head and says, "I'm sorry, but that name just doesn't ring a bell."

The nun then takes a newspaper out of her habit and hands it to St. Peter.

St. Peter reads the paper and starts laughing. He hands it back to her and says “No sister, the paper says it was the 'Sahara Pipeline' that was laid by 1,400 men in 6 months."

English only at Philly cheesesteak joint By PATRICK WALTERS, Associated Press Writer
Thu Jun 8, 7:38 PM ET

PHILADELPHIA - Bistec con queso? Not at Geno's Steaks.

An English-only ordering policy has thrust one of Philadelphia's best-known cheesesteak joints into the national immigration debate.

Situated in a South Philadelphia immigrant neighborhood, Geno's — which together with its chief rival, Pat's King of Steaks, forms the epicenter of an area described as "ground zero for cheesesteaks" — has posted small signs telling customers, "This Is AMERICA: WHEN ORDERING `SPEAK ENGLISH.'"

"They don't know how lucky they are. All we're asking them to do is learn the English language," said Geno's owner Joseph Vento, 66. "We're out to help these people, but they've got to help themselves, too."

Vento, whose grandparents struggled to learn English after immigrating from Sicily in the 1920s, said he posted the sign about six months ago amid concerns over immigration reform and the increasing number of customers who could not order in English when they wanted Philly's gooey, greasy specialty — fried steak, sliced or chopped, in a long roll, with cheese and fried onions.

Of course, it's not as if native Philadelphians speak the King's English either. A Philadelphian might order a cheesesteak by saying something like, "Yo, gimme a cheesesteak wit, will youse?" ("Wit," or "with," means with fried onions.) To which the counterman might reply: "Youse want fries widdat?"

The traditionally Italian community near Geno's has become more diverse over the decades. Immigrants from Asia and Latin America have moved in, joining longtime residents and young professionals seeking reasonably priced rowhouses. In the past 10 years, an estimated 15,000 to 20,000 Mexican immigrants — many of them here illegally, community leaders say — have settled in South Philly.

Vento said his staff is glad to help non-native speakers order in English and has never turned someone away because of a language barrier.

But the policy has "really upset a lot of a people," said Brad Baldia of Day Without An Immigrant, a coalition of immigrant groups. "For some people, I think we're just going to say, `Le gusta Pat's.'"

Juntos, a Hispanic neighborhood organization, said it plans to send people to Geno's to try to order in Spanish and may pursue court action, depending on what happens.

"His grandparents encountered the same racism and the same xenophobia," said Peter Bloom, the group's director. "Why would he begin that process over again?"

Vento said he has gotten plenty of criticism and threats. One person told him they hoped one his many neon signs flames out and burns the place down, he said. But he said he plans to hold his ground.

Customers placing orders on a recent morning seemed unfazed.

Angelica Marquez, 22 and originally from Puerto Rico, ordered in well-spoken English, but said some of her relatives struggle with the language. "They always come and just say `cheesesteak,'" Marquez said, adding that the policy "bothers her some" but not enough to keep her away.

When a non-English speaking customer showed up at the window a short time later, a clerk patiently coached him through the process. Eventually, both said "cheesesteak."

Vento, a short, fiery man with a ninth-grade education, arms covered in tattoos and a large diamond ring in his ear, also sells "freedom fries" to protest France's opposition to the Iraq war. He rails against Mumia Abu-Jamal, the black man who was convicted of killing police Officer Daniel Faulkner in 1981 and has become a cause celebre among some death penalty opponents. Memorials to Faulkner are posted at his shop.

Those who market the city, often using images of Geno's and other famous steak shops, are watching with concern.

"I certainly wouldn't want a national audience to think it represented all of the wonderful cheesesteak makers in the whole city," said Meryl Levitz, president and chief executive of the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corp. "This isn't representative of the Philadelphia attitude."

Competitors are seizing on the controversy.

Tony Luke's issued a statement saying it welcomes all customers "whether or not they speak a `wit' of English."

And a manager at Pat's, Kathy Smith, said of Geno's English-only policy: "That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard in my life. I'd rather listen to the Spanish than the foul language of the college students."
early Thanks to Dean
by Erikrt123 on Fri Jun 09, 2006 8:08 pm
I just wanted to take this oppurtunity to Say an early Thank You to Dean Z and the crew for making A MAB Sig Guitar!! Thou it hasn't been released yet I am confident that this will be an awesome guitar!!
I have been playing for 18 years and was an Avid Ibanez user. And I have never had the chance to try a Dean before. They just aren't available in My area.
But with the release of this guitar I am going to have to track one down. This will be my first Dean and I am very excited as I have been a huge fan of Michael Angelo since the Movie SAhock'em Dead first hit the video stores. This is a dream for me!
I am Thankful that you have signed MAB to your team and are letting him express his creativeness and ideas for a guitar for his many fans!
I am hoping that this will be the guitar to beat all axes and make me A fan of Deans. Which I probabally would never have even giving a shot if it wheren't for the MAB sig to be released as I hate to buy axes without giving them a real good checking in a Music Shop. Their isn't in a Dean shop within 500 miles of me!

Who was the singer for Pantera back in '83?

You know, the "Power Metal" days as i call it

This stuff just BLOWS away any of the post '90's stuff to me. But thats because I've never been (or never will) be a fan of Phil. He's just a ugly bald dude that grunts. Haha.
How Stupid
by Hot Sauce on Fri Jun 09, 2006 10:42 pm
Yesterday, me and fellow member Deathwish went to Tupelo (MS) to look at some guitars. Anyways, we went in Consignment Music. You could play whatever you wanted in there, so I played a Vendetta 4.0, a baby DFH, an Edge Q4, some Epiphone Les Pauls (blueburst, sunburst), some faded cherry Epiphone SG's, and some other stuff. Then we left to go to another store. We got there, and we went over to look, and there was this guy trying to be all nice. He told us to do whatever we wanted and all that. We looked and saw a sign over all the Gibsons and Fenders. You could touch all the Ibanez's, all the Parker's, and whatever else you wanted, but not the Gibsons and Fenders.

That was stupid and yet another reason I don't play Gibson and Fender.

by \.../_METAL_\.../ on Sat Jun 10, 2006 4:48 am
Somebody needs to help me out here, because I'm just plain PISSED! I've been trying to get a hold of a floyd for my tropical ML, but NO ONE has them. I was told by a dealer up here the one I ordered would be in, in two days Very Happy, that was 6 months ago Evil or Very Mad. I really need this thing, it's all I need to get that guitar working. Another thing is that I can't try out any of the different brands to hear what each is like, I've played my friends ESP with an OFR and didn't know what to think, because I haven't been able to play many floyded guitars. I can't decide between Gotoh, Ping or original, I've heard great things about all of them and Schaller is just too expensive. The other thing is not even the techs at the shops here know how to get measurements for the floyd which is frippin rediculous. Can you guys tell me where I could get a floyd, which of those three brands has what quallities, and what I need to measure. I would REALLY appreciate it.

V, Z, Caddy, Hardtail and Razorback owners...
by Dim3 on Sat Jun 10, 2006 6:26 pm
'Aite, I've been taking a 3D modelling class the last ½ year and I'm getting pretty good at this. I just woke up this morning looking at the photoshop stuff and then the beer thing that Mark made, I realized that I could make 3D Models of guitars.

Why you might ask? Its simple - this way any forumite can request a paint job to be previewed. You can apply ANY texture to the guitar, and see what it looks like.

If I want this to work, I'll need pictures of these guitars

- V
- Z
- Caddy
- Hardtail
- Razorback

Now, i dont mean just "Pictures", like the ones you get off the site. I'll need pictures where you can easily see the exact shape of the guitar, bevels and cutout shape (Hardtail).

I will require:

-Body from the front

Image

-Body from the side

Image

-Headstocks of the Hardtail and Razorback

-The back of the guitar, shot from a angle

-Detail photos, this includes pickups, bridges, knobs, neck joint, backplates, input jack (of the Hardtail atleast)

Thanks again,

~Fille

the albums sounds really good, my 3 favorites are Nothin To Lose, Rebel Meets Rebel (gotta love the intro lol) and Get outta my life.

I made a couple of my friend listen to it, and they said it sounds f*cked up, but the truth is THEY ARE F*CKED UP!!

For The Love Of Music!
by BluesMan on Sun Jun 11, 2006 11:11 pm
I've been on this forum since March and I enjoy most of the topics
everyone posts, but I'm getting sick and tired of people saying that this band or that band sucks! I love music, all kinds of music, some styles better than others but I respect someones opinion when they like a certain band or style. I used to be bad at that when I was younger cause I thought Metal was it and everything else sucked, but I started listening to other styles like Jazz, Blues,Country and found out that thare is a whole different world of music to listen to. Radio & television here in America push what they think is cool and hip for us while alot of the other country's embrace all styles because it's MUSIC! I guess what I'm trying to say if you like one style of music great, but don't down the other person that likes something you don't. I really don't care for rap music but I'm not going to say you suck or that artist sucks just because they are into rap. Music is something to be enjoyed, from classical to metal and everything in between, we just need to be more open minded.

Metallica Last Night
by ForeverDown on Mon Jun 12, 2006 11:30 am
Was at Metallica last night. Alice In Chains were supporting. They were awesome. Although they did not have a very long set.

Avenged Sevenfold also supported. They are not my kind of band but they played Walk for Dimebag which i thought was very cool!

Metallica.... they were awesome! I was expecting them to be a little rusty, but they put on an awesome show! They played songs they dont often play, such as, The God that Failed and Whiskey in the jar of course for Ireland! They also played the whole Master Of Puppets album start to finish as it is its 20th anniversary. James brough his 8 year old daughter on stage as it was her birthday and the entire crowd sang happy birthday. Then he called Jerry Cantrell out, and Jerry sang Nothing else matters with the band.
Mystery Z, I wanna see it again!
by Anonymous on Mon Jun 12, 2006 12:10 pm
Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone has a picture of a Z that used to be on a website somewhere but I just can't find it anywhere. It was a while back and someone had a link to another webpage on their profile, maybe something like "Czech deans" or something. Anyway that site had loads of pictures of rare and interesting Deans, one of which I fell in love with...and I'd like to see a picture of it again! It was a Z (maybe vintage) it had been refinished and was like a burst with a silver/grey colour on the outside blending in the middle to a pale pink/brown quilted section. I think it had block inlays too, and was on a website that described it as like a "medieval weapon" I think. It was so amazing! But I can't find it anywhere! Please help!

Krakatoa
by tnvol on Mon Jun 12, 2006 5:18 pm
Did anyone watch that show last night on the Eruption of Krakatoa on the discovery channel? Killer show if you get a chance to watch it. I had no clue that a volcano could be so descructive! The fact that this one was way out in the ocean and 30 miles away from land makes it all the more impressive. It shot a 1000 degree ash cloud 30 miles into the air! It went pretty deep into what is happening inside a volcano when its erupting. Good stuff.

1st. I only play at home so wattage is not an issue here, I dont need to be heard over drums or anything, but I do want some balls to come with it
2nd. I want something really warm sounding
3rd. The cheaper the better

I've been looking at the Valveking series from Peavey, maybe the 1x12 does anyone here own one? Can I have some reviews on this?

I'm open to suggestions on any other brand.

Please let me know.

Oh yah. Got a ticket 3rd row for the tonemonster.

Haven't been able to see him in almost 10 years, when I was lucky enough to have a buddy get me into an Austin City Limits taping. Last time he played Dallas the tickets sold out so quick I couldn't get one.

This guy is one of my all time faves. One of the very few guitarists I can remember exactly where I was and what I was doing the first time I heard em.

I was bending over tieing my shoes just before I headed out the door for work when Cliffs of Dover came on the radio.

I just about piddled myself. Had to call the radio station and ask em who the hell that was.

WHY ARE RAZORBACKS MADE OUTSIDE USA???
by FISTOFSTEEL5150 on Mon Jun 12, 2006 8:39 pm
i'm wondering about this??? you pay over 1400 to 1500 for a guitar that's made outside of USA. I've heard nothing but great reviews on razorbacks and plan on getting one.

Does anyone know why Dean has em made outside the country, except of course the $5000 Rust Razorback. Which kicks major jawbones out of place!

Freebird (I need help with slide parts)
by foatz665 on Mon Jun 12, 2006 9:32 pm
I was asked to play Freebird with another guy on guitar , a bassist, and a drummer, along with the seniors singing at Baccalaurate. Its a tribute to our classmate, and as many of you know, one of my dear friends who passed away in a car accident last summer.

With that being said, I know the song, and can play all the parts very well, but I cant play the solo parts with the slide. I can play it without the slide, but it sounds shitty to me. With the slide, it just sounds like garbage to me... So, if anyone has any tips or anything I might be missing here to play the slide parts better, PLEASE let me know. I'm open to any help I can get here. thanks

Talent show Vids
by Jalapeno on Tue Jun 13, 2006 2:12 am
This is from a talent show at my school on the last day. The person who was supposed to play drums wth us flaked out the day before so I contacted someone I knew through Myspace who played drums. I had never played with him before and never even MET him before. He came by 3 hours before the show with his friend who is playing bass. We didn't get much rehearsal time cause there was an 8th grade graduation that was taking place before the show.

There are a few mess ups in the vids and I messed up the solo cause the drums went a little wierd for a moment and too fast. but it turned out fine I think

Randall V2 head review
by atarilovesyou on Tue Jun 13, 2006 3:15 am
....or maybe not really, but here goes. Before the Dime Police come out and say I'm a Dime Sheep, I'll admit I wouldn't have tried a Randall had it not been for him, so for pennance I also tried an Ibanez head as well....yikes.

Well, the dealer had the V2 and T2...I was looking online at a VHT amp with a built in EQ so I tried the V2...that and the store was looking at me funny.

Well, I played an Epi Les Paul through it...all I can say is I can tell the difference between tubes and no tubes, but I can also say that I like what I like and even though the middle channel on this thing kinda sounded compressed or buzzy or whatever the name for it is, I actually liked it quite a bit....I own a JSX and it can't really nail those METAL tones without help (not that it was designed to)....but back to the Randall.

I cranked this damn thing through a four twelve cab and it nearly blew my head off. Doesn't mean much, but damn fun! I'm not sure how it all works but only one channel uses tubes, that's the main lead channel....and I could hear the tubes being 'tubey'....the clean sounded like a solid state clean, although it sounded a lot like my JSX clean channel ..go figure.

I found that without a noise gate, the background noise was a bit noticeable, but this thing is a high gain amp, so.....and what gain it has! What I really noticed was the midrange....but the low end kinda let me down but I'm not used to playing through a half stack and the staff let me know how tricky it was to get a good sound, depending on how far you are from the stack. Cool.

What was REALLY cool was the EQ....I mean, you could get a ZILLION different tones out of this....you could drop the mids so low that Satan would have to check his DEMON NUTS to see if they were still on, that's how SCOOPED it got.

I bet with some serious tinkering you could probably get a LIMITLESS amount of tones out of this thing. The price was right as well, and since it had a great clean channel, I was so tempted to think of replacing the JSX....nah....maybe....ha!

I'm no judge of great tones but this head sure reeked of METAL and I liked it. It has a lot of features you don't get in it's price range and it looked badass to boot. I really wish I could have spent a LOT more time on it....again, I could tell that this distortion was solid state unless I was in the lead channel, but damn if I didn't like it!

Maybe I'll throw an EQ in the FX loop on my JSX and see if I can get some crazy tones like I did with the V2.....and what I liked most about it was I wasn't thinking "if it's not tube it's crap"...I just went by what I heard and I really liked it. Give it a listen, dudes!

Oh yeah, the obligatory numerical rating:

8.7

...there ya go.

Ok to start they had a video of some classic FZ. Guess its there to put you in the mood. When the band came out after they proceeded to rip it up. They opened with Imaginary Diseases. The show was filled some classics. They did alot off Roxy. Village of the Sun, Son of Orange County. Vai and Bozzio played a good portion of the second set. Vai sounded great Especially on Zombie woof. Black page was AWESOME. It was great to get to see TB do Punkys Whips live finally. Peaches, Inca Roads, Florentine Pogen. It was a Zappa fans wet dream of a set list. Big video of FZ doing the solo on Chunga with the band playing along. NMB being himself was in great voice and was full of energy dancing all over the place.

Bottom line is if they come anywhere near you you MUST FOREGO ALL ELSE AND SEE THIS SHOW. For all you metal heads, heres a chance to go and see something completely different but will feel comfortably familiar. More then enough shredding going on.

by ForeverDown on Tue Jun 13, 2006 11:17 pm
Ok guys here we go again!
Down: June 13th
This was the last night of the Down tour, in Dublin, Ireland. And it was the best concert of my life!!!! Twisted Evil First they played this video of all their influences and a few shots of kirk makin an ass of himself drunk with Zakk Wylde, Ozzy etc.
Then after about 30 mins of video The band came out! The second song they played was Lifer which Phil dedicated to Dimebag. They then went on and played 3 songs they have never played anywhere else! Razz Phil tried to get as drunk as he could as it was the last night!...being typical phil....
Then kirk threw a plec which i caught! I then caught 2 of rex's pics and one of Peppers!!!! I am quite happy now!!
Anyway great concert!!!

Well I gave up on the Edumund Fitzgerald solo, so I'm going to work on this instead even though I'm not done with No Boundaries. I'm not using tabs, so this brings up my question, what the hell does he do in the two notes at 12 and 13 seconds?
