I flippin love this thing! I just got it today at Guitar Center wit that 20% thingy. Man it's cool
I tried it out last week and a crappy guitar and amp which made the faults of the drop tune selection unnoticable. SO thats a bummer. but yea I still love this thing
http://media.putfile.com/whammy-goodness there is a clip
Pron to be added... but here's my transition
Dean Pro Z/FBD + Fender Metalhead ---> Dean two tone Razorback + B52 AT212...
Tube amp = awesome. Just as heavy as the solid state, but the clean is so much nicer. It also just sounds smoother. As for the Razorback, I wasn't expecting to like it more than my Pro Z, but I do. Which is why the Z is now for sale. People usually say that USA guitars are always better than imports, and that Z is fantastic, but the neck on the Razor just fits me better, and I love its style. Today was a good day!

Fender Amp guys...Help me here
by harley on Sat Jul 01, 2006 7:17 pm
Looking for info about this amp like, what year approximately and about how much it it worth.
Some info from the back of the amp says Speaker 3.2 Ohms and 6 watts. CBS era Fullerton CA. Don't know if this is the serial number but it is stamped on the chassie just out of the pic.
A 46177
Any info would be great. It sounds good, like a Fender, and everything works.
King's X frontman to front Living Colour In Europe
by BULL on Sat Jul 01, 2006 7:55 pm
I guess Cory Glover can't do the shows they have booked. Apparently hes got a movie to due. And according to Blabbermouth.net Living Colour asked Dug Pinnick of King's X to fill in the void for a short time. Man I wish I was there to witness those shows!

Razorback Shards - In Stock - in Connecticut
Just FYI, we have a Razorback Shards now in stock!
My first gig is a couple of months away, I need major help
by Alex! on Sat Jul 01, 2006 11:04 pm
Ok, so this local band is holding a charity rock/metal festival in the local park and since it's for charity you don't get payed to play, but the upside is you don't have to pay to play either.
So I'm thinking of joining in, since anyone can really, but the downside is there's only me and a drummer in our band
I'm a pretty good rhythm player but I can't do lead well AT ALL. So that's kind of crummy. The band who's organising it need another guitarist so I might help them out for that, and in exchange they lend us their rhythm guitarist/singer. A bassist is basically not the priority right now...singer comes first.
So that's cool but it means I'll have to play lead But I really want to play this festival, since I know that if our band did it'd be a great chance to prove that we're not the only decent band in our crappy little town.
The problem is since we have no decent lead guitarist (ie I suck) we're probably going to have to play our own stuff...which means we have under 2 months to write enough songs to fill a 45 minute setlist
Do you guys have any advice you could give? I really want to do this. Any help you could give would be really really appreciated
Eric Peterson Testament/Dragonlord
Hey guys, to answer the question in the thread down below where the question came up about what kind of guitar Eric Peterson is playing that looks like a Les Paul (the white one). I took it upon myself to e-mail him and ask. He replied about that guitar as well as all the other Deans he is touring with. Here is a copy of the e-mail he sent me:
J&D Brothers from England, I believe on the Les Paul,
and I use Seymour Duncan pick ups in the Cadillac, JB
bridge, PAF style in the middle postion and a Jazz in
the Rythm.....I now have two new Dean V's which I will
be using on our tours coming up....they are the Schenker USA Custom (amazing action, everyone should get this guitar) and another Schenker USA triple binding only I had it painted
black with seymour super dist bridge postion and a
Jazz in the neck postion...check out our dates
attached....
Best regardsw Dean forum!
Eric Peterson
Here is the photo of the guitar in question for those of you just joining the conversation.
Ok not like anyone cares but my MiLF is here;
Anyone play a ENGL Tube Toner?
I saw one of these and Ebay and they seem pretty kewl, Any of you Bastards that own Engl Amps have any opinions on these?
Havn't seen my fernandes in over a month...
had my local music store put an emg 81, got the guitar back and it was making somem nasty ass farting noise when I put it on harmonic sustain... so I brought it back and I got a call a few days later saying they had to send the curcuitboard to fernandes and it would be about a week...
They got it back along with a part they said they needed, put it together, and guess what? ITS WORSE
Im getting pissed because I was told a week and its been almost 2 months.... Progress would be a good idea....
I was thinking of getting a 79 v and putting a dimebucker on it. but i don't know if i should get that or the ml or mlf. I know i ask for advice on a new axe alot, but im probebly getting one soon so im needing all the help i can get. thanks to all for the help.

Retarded Amp Questions....
Here are the stupid bonehead Questions that I should know but hey I dont
If my Head is 150 Watts and my Cab is 240Watts, How many Watts is going out of the Cabinet, Is it 150 Since the poweramp (me thinks) is only 150Watts?
And Last, How many watts is enough? Like for small Venues to larger ones?
Rusty Cooley joins Dean
by Guest on Sun Jul 02, 2006 7:08 am
"Rusty is now officially endorsing Dean Guitars. Look for the Rusty Cooley signature 7 string early 2007. Rusty will have the first prototype very soon so check back for photo’s. This guitar will be the Lamborghini of 7 string guitars built for speed and performance! The thinnest neck, biggest frets, the best cut a way depth and width and a smooth neck joint for the best access to the highest frets. Equipped with EMG 707’s and a low profile trem so the fine tuners won’t get in the way of your picking hand."
I know many here think he's a mindless shredder, but I think he's pretty damn good. But regardless, for 7 stringers in the Dean community, this is a godsend. Its also fair to say that Dean can claim a real place in the Shred arena with Cooley and MAB- I'm definately sensing an insane jam between the 2 @ Summer NAMM. Plus w/ this kind of 7 string, maybe we can get Loomis and Broderick (GET ON IT MARK!!)
music cd questions for the European folk
My wife just retruned from a family emergency in Germany and brought home the 2 things I asked for: Tankard - The Beauty and the Beer and marzipan chocolate bars.
While the marzipan will have a short lived stay in the states, I'm a bit concerned over the Tankard CD. It has "Do not copy. Virus danger! The manufacturer is niether liable for computer crashes nor hard drive failures nor data loss!!!" on the CD itself. It is labeled as "compact disc digital audio" I thought that some international standards organization recently enofrced something that wouldn't allow music discs to be labaled as cd audui if it had extra junk like this on it. Or, could it be just a goof to scare folks? I'd like to rip it onto my work laptop.
Is this a common practice? Does anyone know if this warning is for real?
Here in NorthAmerica some record labels got in some trouble for putting stuff like this on discs without telling people.
Hi, I'm a lefty and I've been playing bass for about a year. I've been looking around for a new guitar but most lefty's don't appeal to me.
That's why I'm planning on learning righthanded. My brother has a righty bass so I can practice on that one.
Has anyone else ever did this and did you have a lot of problems?

by BTMN on Sun Jul 02, 2006 6:16 pm
How about 8pm eastern. BTW, I invited the HFC over. More the merrier eh?
ok, when I crank the gain i get this nasty noise caused by the strings vibrating and it turns into feedback...
This makes everything sound sloppy when Im playing lead and makes my harmonics sound like shiat.
I was wondering if something like the ISP decimator would elimenate something like that.
THANKS
Hey Guys,
I am looking for a black leather strap that is long enough so that my guitar hangs real low, like around my groin . Just like most rock stars have 'em.
I was wondering what brand straps you all use. And also what brand straps the great stars use/used....
ML guitar stands?
by jbailes on Sun Jul 02, 2006 6:59 pm
I don't know if this question has been raised before, but has Dean considered making guitar stands specific to the ML, Razorback, V, and Dixie Rebel guitar designs? Nothing I have is really usable without running the risk of damaging the ends.

Advice for new tubes (5150)
by MLTC on Mon Jul 03, 2006 12:11 am
I have a Peavey 6505 (basically a 5150) and it still has the stock Ruby tubes. I'm thinking about installing new ones because I've had these in this amp for over a year and there's a lot of background hiss/hum, even with my noise reduction on. So-I'm thinking Electro-Harmonix because I've always heard great things about them and my cousin advises them too. Anybody else have any experience with changing tubes on this amp/good replacement tubes? The tubes I need are -
5 12AX7 preamp tubes
4 6L6GC power amp tubes
I got an offer from a friend's dad for a Two tone razorback for $600. it has the case and all but it has a few marks. for example the end has a small chip on the end. my parents are leanning twords it wich rocks, but are the marks worth saving this much for or should i pass it by? thanks, MAtt
*smacks head with hammer 3948 times*
Well, I was on Music123, looking through their close-out section, and I came accross the Washburn DimeVPro. Its normal store price was around $800, $600 used and busted on ebay, and was selling for $199. I thought, hmm, I might as well buy it as something to play before I buy my first Dean. It's in the mail, and it's going to be a great guitar, but here's why I hit myself with a hammer...my dad said I won't be able to buy a Dean for 1 year now. I WAS SO CLOSE! I could SMELL a vintage dean ml, then ripped away from the front of my nose. Sometimes I just don't get my dad . That Washy better last one year. I heard washburn customer support was the worst. VoV Video "Documentally" Now Up
Here is the playlist of the whole thing!
Its stupid, retarded, and all VoV!
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=B726E2B528D29FF5
We also give props to some of you out there, so try to watch the whole thing! Brians and My parts are coming soon!
Love yas!
The band does not even know about this vid yet (Brian will now LOL), but we are nearing ready for the tour, the schedule of shows is done, we had a big pull back on dates as you guys know for everything, as Nick (Drums, Percussion) was injured and partially paralyzed in one hand.
He is ok to go and we have had many rehearsals since then, and what I am going to do is document next Sundays rehearsal on video, so you can see what is going on, I will have small interviews, gear checks, sick funny shyt, and some snips of the songs performed as a sneak peek. Including our tech Mitch, LOL!
You guys will love it, and I will post it here and on the VoV website next week some time.
The VAI option is still strong, after this little jaunt out there, we all plan on hitting the studio and home to start the demos for him early next year, so hopefully, we will have something good for them at FN. Remember, it depends on what he likes, or, not.. Thats just the way it is nowadays.
Some out of state stuff is done, I will post what they are when the schedule and CD get released soon.
Love you guys and hope you will like the vid when it gets posted, should lay some rumours to rest too!! LOL!
just wondering ... in the song "Eyes of a stranger", who is the guitarist ... Chris Degarmo ? or was he already gone by this time ?

Hank 3...
by JACKHOLE on Mon Jul 03, 2006 11:25 pm
Picked up Hank 3's "Lovesick Broke & Driftin' CD.Great tunes in the vein of Hank Sr. with a little rock/bluegrass mixed in for good measure. If ya' dig country this is a must have...
Haha, so I've had this little bronze warlock for like two years now and the damned thing is finnaly busted.
I was wailing on it, comming up with a pretty badass riff. All of a sudden my high e string just busts. I thought it came off the saddle but the whole damned thing just went floppy. Looser than Courtney Love after a bag of coke.
So I rip that bitch off and keep playing. I'll just pull a scott ian and use a couple strings. Wrong. The bottom e string is broke now. Same thing, floppy and useless.
On top of that, the tunning pegs dont work and the sound cut out.
I atribute this to me rocking so hard the guitar is litteraly desolving in my hands. Awsome.
Only one guitar for me! Dean baby! Built to last and built to destroy!!!

Difference between a Razorback V-neck and regular neck?
by Mobi on Tue Jul 04, 2006 1:35 pm
Hi,
I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but last weekend I had a Two-tone Razorback in my hands to test, and I was wondering what neck it had?
My opinion was that the neck was a bit on the thick side, I mean it was definately thicker than the neck of my Jackson RR.
So can somebody who has a Razorback explain me how I can see if it's one with a V-neck or not? Maybe post some pics to explain? Also I want to know if it's a korea or china one. Can I see that from the serial#? The one I had in hand began with a 'Y'.
Thanks for answering!

I CANT TELL YOU WHAT IT IS BUT I WILL SELL IT FOR AROUND 2 BUX. IT IS A GUITAR ACCESSORY AND THE CATCH IS , EVERYONE MUST BUY ONE ONCE I GET THEM MADE. ANYONE KNOW A GOOD CAD PROGRAM I CAN COUGHS "TRIAL PERIOD" FROM THE INTERNET ? I NEED TO CAD ONE OUT TO GET MY PATENT I SUPPOSE. ALSO ANYONE KNOW HOW MUCH IT COSTS TO PATENT AN IDEA ?
ACTUALLY I HAVE ABOUT 3 OR 4 NIFTY LITTLE CHEAP IDEAS. I FIGURE IF I CAN GET ONE TO LIFT OFF I MIGHT HAVE THE INITIATIVE TO PURSUE OTHER IDEAS.
I KNOW EVERYONE WILL SAY TRYING TO MAKE SOMETHING IS A STUPID IDEA, EVERYTHING HAS BEEN DONE, BLAH BLAH BLAH. I IMAGINE THE GUY WHO INVENTED THE QUICK STRING WINDER THINGY IS DOING WELL FOR HIMSELF OR THE D-TUNA FOR FLOYD ROSE.
Tried a Krank yesterday.....
Went to a guitar shop up in Washington state here while on vacation to a local store in Tacoma and tried out the Krankenstien and Ill have to say, the one you guys must have played at NAMM had to of been broken because this thing was just phenominal. Killer tone right off the bat, didnt have to mess with the eq very much, it had killer tone no matter how out of whack I got it. I think once dialed in this could be a totaly brutal amp. I didnt play on the clean channel because I didnt have very much time and they didnt have the pedal on display with the amp . So I just messed with the distortion a bit. The distortion is crystal clear, not too muddy, really tight. It didnt really have a brutal low end like my X2 but running an EQ into would fix that. It was extremely responsive. It seemed like it was voiced kindof like a solid state, with the chainsaw sound. The scoop knob on there really helps the sound. I wish I had more time to play on it. I now see why thier slogan is "Krank is Addictive", because I am addicted to that sound now. I see what all the hype is about. Now to go piss off the wife again.
does any one know where .......
that one post is....it had a custom guitar thing,it had almost every guitar model in it, it had a bunc of otions and colors and everything it could have. so any help??

80's Caddy
by bobt on Wed Jul 05, 2006 6:11 pm
Has anybody seen these guitars or picked them up. I had a real 80's Caddy ...which I never should have sold. That guitar was as heavy as a Les Paul. If this is a real copy......the neck profile and the weight should be the same...unless it's just a "select" painted black.
Anybody have any info on this???????????
More Fallout From The 357 Scam...
BERSERKERS:
I have volunteered as the webmaster of zakkwylde.com for the past 2 years, and before that from 2001-2003. I acted as webmaster out of my love for Zakk and everyone in the BLS camp, and have never asked for or received any payment for my role.
Based on recent events related to the 357 Customs promotion, Zakk has requested that I resign as webmaster of zakkwylde.com, and in respect of his wishes, I have agreed to resign.
To clear up some confusion, I want to acknowledge that while I was acting as webmaster for zakkwylde.com, I was hired by 357 Customs to be its webmaster. I didn’t realize that this would create a conflict of interest, and I didn’t clear it with Zakk, his management or anyone else in the BLS camp. When Daniel Baugess asked me to post a promotion for 357 Customs on zakkwylde.com, I assumed the promotion was legitimate and would not be a problem, so I posted it, again without clearing it. I now realize that it was a mistake to not inform Zakk and his management of my dual role, and to post the promotion on zakkwylde.com without authorization.
I want you to be aware that I was also hurt by 357 Customs, as they failed to pay me as promised for the work I did for their website. I also feel 357 Customs has damaged my reputation and the reputation of my company, of which I've worked incredibly hard for the past six years to build ON MY OWN. Therefore, I plan to pursue legal remedies against 357.
It's been an honor and a privilege to serve as webmaster for zakkwylde.com.
Thank you sincerely

M.I.K Deans-poss. trouble ahead ???
by RangeR on Wed Jul 05, 2006 10:03 pm
Hi all
please forgive me in advance for my lack of knowledge on this situation,as i've literally only just heard about it....
Regarding Korea and it's missile launches:
I've heard that the U.S may be considering trade embargos/sanctions with Korea over its recent missile launches.
I have no idea if these are already in place but what i have been wondering is this ,...
*if* this happens-will we have trouble getting our Ltd run M.I.K Dean geets?
I thought it was worth asking,if anyone knows, please post here
I don't know how to feel about this guitar, but wow that price hurts. They say limited quantities like they are gonna sell fast. Don't know about that. I like Les Pauls' but this is too much.

My band's new song...what you think?
Please tell me what you think of this song my band recorded.
http://home.comcast.net/~m.ko/Fight.mp3
We recorded it live last week in bass player's basement using home recording junk for a demo to get us through the door for gigs.
I played with my Dean USA hardtail into randall rm100 and marshall half. Not the tightest group of musicians, I know, but is the song a rockin' or don't come a knockin'?
My first audition! *Edit* How it went!
Its next Wendsday. Its for lead guitarist of a band called "Corruption Of Blood." They have a pretty cool old school trash sound with a little bit of punk type elements. Not to crazy about the singer/rythym guitar players voice but oh well. Maybe he will sound better with me backing him up. I've been learning there songs and I came up with a pretty decent solo for one of them. Other than that I'm gonna play em some Danzig, Pantera and all the other esential stuff like that. If I get the position, my first show will be Augest 4th at this club a few blocks away called "The Blue Note." I really hope I get it, so wish me luck dudes!

Johnny Cash: A Hundred Highways
by KlrPnda on Thu Jul 06, 2006 2:56 pm
If you guys haven't heard this yet, look it up on the MySpace. You can listen to the album in it's entirety there, but it was so damn good I went and picked it up on the 4th when it came out. It's so damn good, he sang the s#%t outta these songs. I guess they were almost all done with this album when he got sick, and it was shelved. It's pretty crazy, but like 90% of the songs are based around death and looking it in the eyes. If you dig any of JC's other stuff, you need to grab this album.
Sorry if it's already been posted, couldn't find it...

Just that it was being shipped out of state and the clowns that were working the belt did not have enough sense to let a liter box get smashed between two very heavy boxes.
So here we have more horror, thank's to UPS.
it kinda gets in the way when i solo. what can i do? any advise is appreciated. thanks!
Anyone ever play a Phiga guitar?

Was oh so tempted to grab this, pretty wild looking axe, and a hand man guitar to boot. I just have nothing I really want to sell right now to pay for it.
I think this monster they make is even better looking
Here's a different take on the black and white "V" shape. these are both from the Warmoth website.
I just liked the looks of this bass. Also from Warmoth.

SHAWN LANE hist videos: RIPS it UP at 16 and thru the years!
by RC99 on Fri Jul 07, 2006 9:40 pm
CHU gave me the Spanish Boot (BECK reference! ) and
inspired me to get off my a$$ and post this stuff I thought of a while ago
Chu's thread :
http://www.deanguitars.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23211
includes some instructional vid stuff that shows how amazing shawn was - and what a real and humble being he was - a TRUE loss and VERY under recognized genius.
little known - Shawn played FULL ON classical piano and was an expert at obscure voicings of Franz Liszt. a listen to his improvs reveals he is NOT just running the usual stock arrpegios most shredders do.
here goes - enjoy bruthahs!
Shawn Lane at age 16, in 1979, playing with the Black Oak Arkansas

1980 – Shawn at 17 w Black Oak Arkansas - DAMM!!

1989 : short version of Shawn Lane with The Willy's - All Along The Watchtower - close up of Shawn playin a Les Paul

1989 LONG version of Watchtower – Shawn TOTALLY RIPS IT UP - CHECK it out :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYd-6uVR694&search=shawn%20lane
for those who might think he’s just all chops - here’s a VERY pretty ballad w Shawn playing some beautiful melodic phrases and NO shred cops – well maybe the VERY end! Notice how his fast scalar riffs at the end TOTALLY include and improv on the melody itself – NICE!!

Rules of the Game - another of I guess the 80’s arena type stuff

1991 Shawn Lane covering Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze" at Club 616 in Memphis, TN. RIPS IT UP :

Shawn Lane - Watermelon In The Easter Hay - A real pretty mellow tune :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOMDVMIfkxg&search=shawn%20lane
Shawn’s last and tragically ended fusion phase - stuff w Jonas Helborg : Time is the enemy – this stuff shows how TOTALLY relaxed he is when improving – he looks like the chops BUDDHA! WOW!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVVyi-DuwMQ&search=shawn%20lane
the last thing Shawn did was take on learning Hindi raga forms – and gave McLaughlin a run fer his money at it! This one is REAL nice and just about my favorite of all the vids here – I love how sublime, melodic, erotic, AND burnin this is!

I understand he passed on due to respiratory problems, probably due to the weight and other complications.
a true loss of a great player who showed you can be very dedicated, play yer A$$ off - and stay humble and open at musics and people from all over the world.
THAT's an emmisary of peace in MY book!
he bowed out sublime and blissful!
RIP SHAWN - your gentle soul, deft mastery, and HUGE spirit remain on as an inspiration and finger of light pointing to the endless possibilities!
New KranK DistortuS MaximuS Pedal !!!
Holy Sh!t !! I picked one up today and it f'ing kicks a$$ !! Played with it at Sam Ash with a ESP w/EMG 81/85's and a Marshall MG250dfx on the clean channel. That was the closest I could come to with my guitars and amp. If you can't afford the high dollar amps like me, this will make your sound much better. there are so many tones available. This is not for classic rockers though. Slayer, Old Metallica, Lamb of God, Pantera, etc... Need only apply. This blows away the MT-2 Metal Zone and just about anything else out there. A welcome addition to the stable. \m/

Can someone please confirm that this (the 3 pup) was a limited 250 unit run. I just wanna know how lucky I am.
Also, out of curiosity, what is the pickup/selector switch configuration.
I saw one similar that had switch up=neck only, switch middle=neck and middle pup, and switch down bridge pickup.
Is that the right layout?

by BTMN on Sat Jul 08, 2006 12:06 am
Ok so I still need some rest after the past 38 hours or so but what cool things went on in those 38 hours or so. In those hours I have put 25 hours of work in, 4.5 hours of sleep, and 2 hours with The NUGE!!!!!!
Ladies let ole BTMN tell you that I have come away from seeing Ted FIRED UP!!! Where the F**K is My guitar and WHY aint I playing it it???
I arrived to the Venue casually late after working til almost 7 then running home. Show started at 8. Huck John opened. Missed him. Heard him while I was uhh, relieving myself.
Didn't go back later to see if Ted was piped in.
Sat in the lobby and ate Killer Chocolate cake/dinner . Watched the human parade for a bit. Ran into a few old friends including Barry the lead singer for the Wholigans a world renowned Who tribute band. With Ted in the house it was only fitting Barry told me The Wholigans were playing Detroit coming up. GO SEE THEM!!!!!! http://www.realitysnap.com/the_wholigans.htm
Anyways, after I talked to Barry, I went in to my 12th row little right of center on the Bass player's side seat. After about 5 minutes the lights dimmed and it was ON!!! Ted was just wailing Gents. I throughly enjoyed watching the fingers fly and just watched his hands last night as much as possible. Oh I watched the rest of the schtick that is Ted but the one reason I went was his playing. Yeah, it is Blues scales and Pentatonics and basic stuff but it is the way he manipulates it all. The feedback manipulation, the wavering of the note with the wieght of the guitar, and literally leading you to belive he was putting his whole body into the playing of the note with his lil footdancing like blues players move their mouth when they do a run. The man can rule a crowd and he plays, thats the best part and has a good time. He also said a couple a times how thankful he was we were resonsible for him being up there and I belive he meant it. I wish the politics weren't there but that's Ted. I have put up with it for the guitar lessons. Thanks Ted now play Great White Buffalo instead of telling me about the politics.
Ted always brings a great rhytm section and last night didn't disappoint at all. I have seen them with Ted before, Wild Mick Brown, sober too!!, and Barry Sparks. Sparks has been out with Ted since 2003 after he did a stint in Dokken. Mick has been with Ted 2 tours now I belive.
Great song list including a few of my Favs, Dog Eat Dog, Snakeskin Cowboy, and RawDawgs, Warhawgs. Wish he would drop Kiss My A$$ though. All this is only my not so humble opinion, carry on.
Yeah, yeah photos in a few......days.

Audition Part one tomorrow
Wish me some luck fellas. I am auditioning for an 80's metal act that is here localy. They are supposed to be the best one in the state and play out about 4-5 times a month, so there is potential to make some dough. Anyway since last night I had to learn Heaven Tonight from Yngwie Malmsteen, Uncle Tom's Cabin-Warrant, Hold the Line-Toto and Still Of The Night-Whitesnake. So I have been practicing like crazy to get everything down. Anyway depending on how tomorrow goes I will then know about a second audition on the 18th. Supposedly none of the other guys have worked out, so I am nervous as hell. I am glad I got my new USA Pro V. That is what I taking as a good luck charm. I know a lot of you guys only like really heavy music, which I do too, but I really want this gig, so prey for me. Thanks
Anyone see the Gibby Supreme series?
Mighty fine looking instruments, but carry an insane price tag.
AND, no rear cavity for electronics access.
crazy talk.
i am stupid i know but is the 12 bar blues 2 or 4 bars on the 1 ?
i dont know why but this totally slipped my mind and i can't remeber .
I am suppose to be working on my 7 and 9ths chords using the 12 bar and soloing over it with the pentatonic .
Do any music sites or dealers here offer monthly payment?
Do they?
OK. I WORKED REAL HARD ON MY TUNE FOR THE DOA COMPILATION CD. FORMATTED MY PC AND STARTED FRESH TO RECORD MY DOA TUNE. I GUESS I TOOK TOO LONG AND GOT LOTS OF SPYWARE AND VIRUS IN THE PROCESS SOMEHOW. I HAD NORTONS, AND PC CILLIN ALONG WITH 6 DIFFERENT SPYWARE PROGRAMS. IT SEEMS THE MORE ANTI PROGRAMS YOU PUT ON THE MORE CRAP YOU GET. I SWEAR THE MAKERS OF THE SOFTWARE ARE THE MAKERS OF THE VIRUS AND SPYWARE TO KEEP THEMSELVES IN BIZ. ANYWAYS. NO MATTER HOW HARD I TRIED, I LOST MY DOA TUNE. THE PROGRAM I RECORDED IT WITH WOULDNT OPEN EVEN IF I UNINSTALLED AND REINSTALLED. I TRIED TO OPEN THE TRAX IN A DIFFERENT PROGRAM AND IT SEEMS SOME OF THE TRAX WERE MISSING. SO WITH THAT BEING SAID. MY TUNE ONCE AGAIN ISNT MAKING IT TO THE DOA CD. ALL I HAVE OF IT IS A PRELIM MIXDOWN, TERRIBLE LEVELS, BAD EQ AND MISSING SOME PARTS AND OVERDUBS STILL. I UPLOADED IT HERE THOUGH SO EVERYONE COULD GET A PEAK OF WHAT IT SOUNDED LIKE FOR THE MOST PART BEFORE ADDING ALL THE FINESS TO IT. ITS THE TUNE LABLED TINITUS.

Hi, I wanted to get some opinions. I'm saluting my vx and wanted to get a guitar that is better for playing while sitting down, that stays put and doesn't slide, any suggestions? Also wanted to have the same size neck as the v series. Thanks in advance! Mike.

this is my first time painting a guitar. what do you guys think?
i'll have pictures of the front when i actually get around to finishing it. i'm no jeepster, but i think it's pretty good for first attempt.
Feedback about the new Krank Pedal??
has anyone tried it out yet? I just want some others opinions on it. the "Distortus Maximus".
The Engrish transrator sucks but...
Man, these are some killer guitars. I picked up a V copy the last time I was in Japan and it absolutely kills. Apparently my model isn't made anymore, but that V (Valley) with the normal 3x3 hs looks awesome...

I just had my 17th birthday, and my parents are going to buy me a new amp, and they are willing to pay up to $1000. My question is, are there any amps that have a good channel for metal, and a good clean channel within that price range? Any reccomendation would be helpful.
I tried the combo today at my local shop and it blew me away. It can go from crystal clear tones to some of the heaviest distortions ive ever heard.
Im thinking about buying that or the head, what is everyones oppinion?

I'm going to build a cab, and can't decide which speakers to buy. I want to copy the g-flex cab (http://www.audio-electric-shop.de/shop/catalog/images/GenzBenz-212Flex.jpg). Anyone tried those? I've never tried a ported cab before, but I sure love a good thump and would like to try one
Anyways, I need speakers for the cab as well. I've had a 1960 cab w/g12t-75's, and I liked it fairly good. I've also compared a lot of cabs next to each other, and discovered that I don't like V30's, like greenbacks at low volume, that the g12t's sound very compressed compared to the greenbacks, and that the valvestate 4x12"s stink compared to the real deal.
But, since none of those speakers are really WOWinators in my opinion, I want to try something different, so I've been looking at eminence speakers. Unfortunately, I can't decide which ones to get, but I've narrowed it down to either Legend V12's, Texas Heats or black powder. Anyone compared those to celestions? I play metal and like my tone chunky but not too scooped, and use an ENGL fireball.
Since I live in Norway and must order the speakers from the U.S., I have to do my best to avoid ordering the wrong speakers
Since when have these two been making music together?
Just a question ...

Pedal Board Project/My New Secret Weapon
Me and my Dad started building me a pedal board today. Heres what we have so far...
The board is an old shelf. Really hard and sturdy one. But whats amazing is that we cut and split a 2x4 for the incline with a miter saw. The miter block didn't give us the angle we needed to split it so we had it rigged up all crazy with boards and a clamp holding it in place. I'll deffinitly post some pictures when its finished.

I just purchased a Dean ML 79 about 2 weeks ago. Recieved it in the mail on Saturday. It's in the shop as of right now getting my EMGs installed in it. But anyways, my question is. Mussic123 and MusiciancsFriend states on the specs of the guitar is a set neck guitar which is correct. But it also says '' mahogany body'' mahagony neck''. Which is obviously incorrect because dean says the neck has rosewood in the frets as well as the neck. And the body has maple AND mahogony. So at this point I'm wondering is this a mistake on music123's site.. And is rosewood decent wood to have your neck made out of. When i read this i was like ''uh did i get a guitar that is pieced together in like 5 different pieces of wood''. Don't get me wrong for the day that i had my axe in the house before i put it in the shop and got to mess with it. It plays amazing and I love it. But I'm just curious about the body and neck material. Someome please give me some insite on this.

HT pup question
by Mat on Tue Jul 11, 2006 3:35 am
I love my new HT select, it's a beauty and a great player, I can't imagine how it could be any better if it had been mad in the US, except for the most obviouse difference, that would be the diference between the standerd Dean pups and Seymour Duncans that come in the USA models, i love how the neck pup sounds but I thought that the bridge pup could be a little hotter and have a little more bight.
so how does the Dean pup compare to the SD? do you think Id be satisfied if I replaced it with a SD or should I go with something else? and Id also like to maintain the look it has, with the crome casing.
what is the exact model that comes in the USA model, could someone link me to it on Musician's friend site if it's on there?
thanks
Anyone decipher the numbers of my Korean 12 string. I emailed Dean, but haven't heard anything back. The serial number is E020321. I was looking for an electric 12 string, and my local dealer had one. Great playing guitar. Thanks for any info.

Could I please get some help w/ Dime DVD?
Is there anyone here that has all of the Dime instruction stuff, and the Zakk Wylde instruction stuff on DVD, and could make me copies? I'll pay a reasonable fee if you could. I can watch them on youtube, but can't download them to my computer. If you know a way I could get them on my computer I could burn them myself.
Thanks Buds
Well, I'm in the process of getting my local store to get some of these in since they seem the best option for hanging ML's
I'm currently looking at this one, http://www.herculesstands.com/guitars/GS422B.html for my ML and Razorback.
So can anyone confirm these work well? Photos would be even better since the site only shows accoustics and strats hanging from them.
I am going to buy a half stack if I get this job with this working band next week. Here are my issues. I don't have more than around $1000.00 to spend on this. Yeah I know that a Marshall JCM is like in the $2000.00 range so don't bother reminding me. The band is an 80's metal cover band and I will be playing lead. Right now I am using a VOX AD50VT Valvestate which I absolutely love and I know they make a half stack version which is my number one choice, but I want other opinions before I buy it. If you suggest something please let me know what your experience with it is and why you think it would be a good choice for what I need. Thanks in advance guys.
V players Why do you play Vs, Tell the story of your first
I need some help metal fans....
Well I have a band....we play metal kind of like the metal pantera played in the earlier days, I guess its a sound like cowboys from hell meets vulger display of power, kind has a party hell raisin sound to it but at the same time some songs heavy ( a little of everything ya know?) But heres my problem....would people even listen to that type of music nowa days? I mean All these nu metal bands people listen to are screamming there freggin guts out to the point where you have no freggin idea what they are saying!!!!! ( and basically playing the same chord over again.) So what does every one think?
SUMMER NAMM IN AUSTIN THIS WEEKEND !!!
You bet your boots I will be there. Last years show was in Indianapolis ( I was there, too). Austin is only about 180 miles from where I live. I am driving up early on Saturday and spending the whole day with the Dean crew and partying Saturday night away with none other than LESLIE WEST !!! Leslie will be there signing autographs at the Dean Booth. This is going to be a big thrill for me. Mountain was extremely popular when I first discovered rock and roll. I am traveling alone to this show so I will have time to post pics on Saturday night. I am sure someone else will beat me to it, but their commentary won't be as witty as mine! Wish you could all come with me.

NEW VIDEO! DEAN IN ACTION
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKyUBJxHJ1M
Played that at the first talent show.
and please, if you have something negative about the singer, save it. I get it, he sucks, he is a buddy of mine and it was a last minute addition. So yea
Ian was saying this over on the BS forum, and I totally agree. I've been guilty of this too, but anybody remember (and it wasn't all that long ago) when you could post a pic of a new guitar that wasn't a Dean and you wouldn't get your ass handed to you by the self-appointed Dean Police? Remember when it was ok to be a Dime fan? Remember when people wouldn't chime in on a guitar that they've never played and offer an uninformed opinion like it was the gospel? Remember when it was ok for a sweet guitar to be a sweet guitar, be it from USA, Korea, Japan, China, Czech Republic, etc, and if it was having problems you wouldn't get a snide remark about how nice your waaaaay-too-expensive import is? Remember a time when if you offered help to people they took it (or at least appreciated your input) without acting like you are talking down to them? Remember when people used the Search function on occasion before making another Floyd problem post?
I've been guilty of this too, but it's true: this used to be a much happier place. I'll try to stop jumping down people's throat too. It is a sad day when some of the most upstanding members of the forum feel so frustrated about this online escape they used to love that they go start another forum. Can't we all just get along?
I love you guys!!!!
Problems with my Dean ML 79
I'm having some troubles with my dean ml 79. I've had it for like 3 days probably. It has insane fret buzz on the 8th fret. Not just for one string but all. Does this mean the fret needs to be filed down some? Also on the 20th 21st and 22nd fret it's dead keys. If anyone has an advice about this besides ''take it to a professional which i plan on doing''. Fill in on something. I"m going to take it to a professional I'm just eager to know what could possibly be wrong.
Can you please identify my Caddy?
[b][i]
Hey buddies,
I've got a used Caddy about 3 years ago, but still I cannot find any information about my guitar. Can you please identify my guitar?
It has 'USA' print on its head, right below the DEAN logo, and the serial number, 20522, is carved on the end of its neck (right after 22nd fret).
Both rear and front pick ups are duncan's ones and the bridge is fitted with original floyd rose.
It has bolt-on type neck and thick tops are on the body.
But I can't find even similar ones in Dean's homepage, in the web sites, in any used guitar markets..
Please help me find it's origin...[/url]

hey guys ... just tired of listening to the same stuff over and over again
could anyone point me out some good 70's or 80's bands ... hard rock, heavy, blues, metal ... anything of interest that hopefully I haven't heard of before
The new Framus "Monterey" looks like they painted it 10 colors and sanded through most of them.
My friend wants me to be in his Black Metal band.
The only requirement is that I need a 7 string guitar. Does Dean make em? Also I'd love to have a floyd on it. I figure my shapes are limited, but I'd really like an ML.
My options right now are BC Rich or Ibanez. Really didnt want to go to them...

what the heck is this bridge, and is it any better than a standard floyd rose? i'd never heard of a kahler version that was so similar to an actual floyd.

To me! One year on this forum and it's been a great year! This forum has actually made
getting on the internet worthwhile to me. I've made some good friends here, and have bought
some great Dean guitars in the past year I've been on this forum.
Before I get too sappy and start with the "I love all y'all" bs , I'll just post some
good ol' Dean pron from the past year. Enjoy!
PALOMINO - FIRST DEAN IN OVER 20 YEARS! Recently traded in for my
eVo Deluxe.
Z PRO - Steve at BRG hooked me up with this fine baby!
HT PRO - Tim (harley) at Center Stage Music hooked me up with this fine 'tail!
TC CADDY3 - Traded in both PROs to Jon at Funky Munky for this sexy black beauty!
She now is loved by our very own Jaxx.
TC CADDY3 - Just had to have more Caddy sexiness! Jason at Drum City Guitar Land hooked
me up with this ROJO beast!
HT CLASSIC - Missed me some 'tail...just had to have more 'tail! Thanks to Dave at B&T
for the Brown Sugah 'tail hookup!
80 Z - Curiousity about the vintage Dean mojo got the better of me while on eBay one night!
Ain't no denying the MOJO!
eVo Deluxe - Czech fevah hit me like a hurricane! Very sweeat!
Next up...Trans Orange TCZ! Is it here yet Dave???
Looking forward to another great year on this forum! Thank You Elliott and Dean Z for
all you guys do!
ML: Floyd vs. String through (if you have both, help!)
by spz on Thu Jul 13, 2006 2:17 pm
Hey guys,
I've been drooling on some MLFs and I have a question for those of you own both floyded ones and string through ones. What are the main differences? Does the flatter neck angle have an effect on playability? Does the lack of string through and angle behind bridge affect your tone (luthiers have said that the steeper the angle the more snappy and in your face the guitar will sound)? Does having the bridge closer to the body do anything to the playability as opposed to a fixed bridge? Does the locking nut change the resonance of the guitar (and headstock) or sustain? What about the string tension, are non floyds easier to play? You get the picture, help and opinions would be much appreciated!
PS. I own both stop tail, string through and floyded guitars but of all different brands, shapes, types and qualities (like my string thru Dean USA V and floyded ESP Standard).
Giving up guitar
by Alex! on Thu Jul 13, 2006 2:55 pm
Do you guys ever just want to give up playing guitar? I don't mean like when you see some amazing player do some incredible stuff and then joke like "Wow I'm gonna give up now."
Well it's just lately I've been pretty depressed about my playing, like I'm getting nowhere, the riffs I've been playing suck, I'm sloppy as hell and I can't do any respectable form of lead.
I've been playing just over a year and a half, and I know I shouldn't be expecting to be fantastic given how long I've been playing I guess I'm just disappointed that I'm not any good.
It's like sometimes I'll look over at my Dime O Flame and think "Wow, that's such an amazing guitar, I don't deserve it." Like some kid who can't afford a decent guitar, but can play really well should deserve to have it and not me or something.
I know I should practice a lot, and it's not like I don't, I play my guitar at least 3 hours a day and I practice my scales and sweeping as much as I can to try and improve, but I just don't seem to get any better.
Anyway, I guess I'm just having one of those days, thanks for reading if anyone does
i didnt want to jump Kris's thread but.. any one using a Mac for recording?
i am trying to get a song done for the doa cd and my pc is so "buggGy" that i cant get a good final mix... i am running an AMD 1.7 gig and 1 gig of ram..i think its enough..my sound card is what i suspect.. i am going to reformant everything.. un hook it from my modem and record every thing over from scratch to see if it helps..
i keep hearin so many good things about mac's that i might bite the bullet and buy a good one.. and start building from there... any opinions..?
what albums helped your guitar playing?
by Sharky on Thu Jul 13, 2006 4:28 pm
lately i've just been doing theory from a book and i've been progressing really well with my practicing (only been playing since the beginning of the year), and just jamming to some black sabbath, nirvana etc...mainly just music that i like that will help me out with various skills (powerchords, solos etc). just wandering what albums did you learn tabs for when you were first starting out that helped your playing.
thanks for ya time bros.
So how fast could a guitar be built????
Suppose you had Dean Z, Ben Chafin, a paint guy and anyone else you need in a room.
You had all the wood, parts, CNC machine, etc needed to make a guitar.
How long would it take them to build a guitar?
I seriously have NO CLUE what the answer to this question is. 1 day? 2 weeks? Does anyone know?
Hey all
As you may or may not know i am from the UK and post here occasionally.

Thanks BRG for hooking me up!!! This guitar is badass... and as many pics I have seen of this thing... They don't do the guitar justice. This guitar plays and feels like a more expensive acoustic.
And thanks again BRG for doing the strap button for me... even though I couldn't get in touch with ya before they shipped.

The new Pink Floyd DVD... Amazing, not even half through it and I'm blown away. David Gilmour is the man. The lighting for this concert was excellent. The main concert footage was taken from 1994 from their last tour. He gets some killer tone out of that strat. Anyone who claims to be a Floyd fan needs to go out there and buy it. $15 a Wal-Mart ($15 and your soul, that is.)
Cadillac 1980
by Ohnani on Fri Jul 14, 2006 2:46 am
Hey, what's up, so I've been reading up on some of your guy's Cadillac 1980's, and I'm interested in them. The problem is that none of the dealers in my area have it in stock, and there's no way I'm gonna buy it w/out playing it first. This is a relatively cheap guitar for me, but it looks really well built and all, and I want to ask how is the build quality on this thing honestly? Like what range of guitars would be comparable to this. Bands I like are stuff like Megadeth, Pantera, Testament, BLS, etc. and if I were to get this, I'd probably switch the PU's to something like JB/'59's. So I just want to know the build quality, tone, finish, action, etc.
I don't know if all the LoG fans know this but the new single "Redneck" is available for download. Plus you can
pre-order the new CD too. If this is old news sorry. I
just found out today. Just go to the web site.
A Cool Idea
by JpBonez on Fri Jul 14, 2006 3:53 am
I thought that it would be a badass idea for all of the people that like to custom build there guitars like, give them a paintjob, switch pickups all of that crap... If we could order the little head tab that shows what kinda guitar it is but that custom as well... It just a small detail but i thought it would be pretty cool... You could put your initials or something or anything you would like... I think it would sorta complete the "custom" part of fixing up your guitar to be part of you.
I think it would rock.
OK I am recording my band's first demo, and some people asked me to post a decent ENGL SE clip, so here it is!

WHY SO MUCH HATE FOR YNGWIE MALMSTEEN?
The question is simple.
Why is there so much hate for Yngwie Malmsteen?
Why is there so much love for Eddie VanHalen?
Let's pretend I'm a young 14 year old picking up guitar for the first time and after researching guitar hero's on the Internet.. came up with this question out of confusion.
Feel free to share personal opinions, stories, or if you are personally angry with Yngwie feel free to explain why. Remember now.. your speaking to a young guitarist who only knows Eddie and Yngwie by the songs and how they play guitar.

The Game: Guess that solo !!
I thought we could play a little game
The rules are fairly easy ... it's remiscent of
the Song Title Game thread
I'll start with posting the lead/solo from a song,

Your job is to guess the guitarist and the song
The first one to give the correct answer gets to post
another solo

New guitar day - nonDean, sorry
This is the first non-Dean I've purchased since joining this forum in 2003. I've bought 9 Deans in that time frame and still own 7 of them (2 Z's, 2 V's, 2 HT's, 1 Belaire) and figured I would grab something different. I've been eyeballing the Phigaguitars Ziggy and Hybrid models and thought it would cool to get a handmade from scratch guitar. A Ziggy showed up on Ebay and at a decent price all thing considered.
This guitar has a bubinga top, poplar back and is chambered. This thing is amazingly light. I have my BelAire on a stand to pick on when ever and it feels like it easily weighs twice as much. The neck is dark hard maple/claro walnut, red mahogany, with a 22 fret dark rosewood, medium frets and real mother of pearl blocks. And for pups it has 3 Seymour Duncan Hotrails varying in ohmage (hottest bridge, lowest neck.)
The guitar does play quite nicely, has a pretty beefy neck (similar to my hardtail select) and has a strat like 5 way switch and independant coil taps for each pup. I'm going to throw some 10-46's on her and try it out at practice tonight. You can tell this is a hand made axe - it has some imperfections, but no complaints for the price.
My only concern is the pickup height: we're good at the neck, but the bridge is too low and it's raised all the way. I'll have to get some longer screws and try to bring it up some more.
In her case (gator case with some cutouts to house this odd ball guitar)
full frontal nudity
front body close up
sideways body shot
neck, holy volute batman!
back (my bulk blocked the sun again)

Anybody own a MXR Wylde Overdrive pedal?
by MLTC on Fri Jul 14, 2006 8:34 pm
I've had one for a while now, and all I want it to do is give me some more gain/sustain/level boost for my solos, and I can't find the right place for it. In front of the amp, it doesn't seem to boost the volume at all. In the loop, it does all the boost I need it to but it really REALLY colors my sound differently. Not bad, but differently. Plus, everyone I talk to uses this pedal up front. So I'm confused.
Suggestions?
"HEY" What Floyd rose should I buy Im so confused
Hey, i need sum kick ass distortion, espesially for playing Metallica will this pedal give me what i need??
Are All Of The Original Guitar Designs Gone?
by JACKHOLE on Fri Jul 14, 2006 11:32 pm
Seems like all guitars lately are just retreads or variations on guitar styles that have been around for ages.Dean is the only company that seems to embrace the "Different is better" credo.I do like some of the stuff that Moser has done lately, though.Case in point...

Looking for new guitar...
I've been Googling my ass off and haven't came up with much so I figured maybe some people here could help me. I'm trying to find a left handed pointy guitar with a floyd. And the only thing I've found so far that is the FBD ML, which I like but don't have the cash for at the moment. Does anyone here know of any guitars that are left handed and pointy and have a floyd? Nothin over $1000 bucks, please. I'm probably going to get the FBD but I'd like to shop around a bit. Thanks.
Switch from Exotica to Performer?
I was thinking about selling my Exotica FM and getting a Performer Archtop. Is there going to be a major difference between how the two sound and perform when played unplugged? Would it be a mistake to rely on the smaller Performer to be my only acoustic considering that I'd be playing unplugged most of the time?

no new lefties for Namm, it appears. this really sucks if this is the case and we need this petition now more than ever.

just when i thought they were going to make some headway in the way of lefty availability. Scheters look better and better every time i see em. if i go to D.O.A. am i going to have to drink from a seperate water fountain?
Does anyone have any pictures of a Z79, especially a white one? I have a black ZX and I'm wanting to get a new explorer style guitar, and thought I'll Dean again. I talked to a local music store, but they didn't have many deans at all, but the one of the guys working there owned a V79 in the back. I was impressed with it, I'd like to see more angles of the Z79.
Pick-Up Change Needed, Input Needed
Here's the deal, I have a new Hardtail select that I don't care for the stock p/u's. My Vendetta 4.0 and '79 V have EMG 81/85 and I think they sound awesome. Never had Duncans or DiMarzios in anything. My music tastes are Lamb of God, Metallica (older), Slayer, Pantera, you get the picture. I am not all about heavy stuff though. My CD collection has got AC/DC, Tool, Stevie Ray, Muddy Waters, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Anthrax, Jazz, Louie Prima, Ozzy, BLS etc...I don't do most of the stuff on Headbangers Ball (cookie monster metal) and I hate pop and hip-hop, emo, A7X, etc.. I am not that concerned with playing solos. That is why I was thinking of going passive. My effects and amps and guitars are listed in my signature. Help me out. Thanks.

LewnWorx Hits Summer NAMM
After a mercifully brief drive to Austin from Dallas I arrived at NAMM Summer 06 Yesterday. Mercifully brief in that I only had to spend 2 hours on 35 crawling at 3MPH, which for Austin is doing pretty good.
I shot the booth, got some pix of Elliot hanging out with Leslie West, got some shots of a few VERY stunning redwood top USA's.
From there we snagged some chow at a killer hole in the wall mezkin place. stopped to see the SSM display and get some humorous war stories from Curse.
Next it was off to see the latest Dean Endorsee Rusty Cooley and his band outland..
Howlee s#%t can this dude shred. ümbefugginalavin. The band itself reminded me a lot of Dream Theater, very technical, very very busy and lots of stupidly difficult to play intricate stuff. He also played a very custom 9 string with fanned frets. I'd never seen anyone actually play a fan fret layout guitar before but he wailed on it big time. Very impressive indeed.
After that a return back to the venue hosting Six String Masterpieces, to catch another band "The Quick & The Dead" who were a old skool mainstream rock outfit with a guitar play who went to the Johnny Dep Pirate School of Rock & Roll guitar. Seriously this dude looked like Jack I kid you not.
Anyways, I'll hit the show again today, and get some more pix. Unfortunately I haven't got access to Bridge or Apeture here so my mongo ass raw files are stuck on the portaDrive for the time being so you'll have to wait on pix for a bit.
EDIT: Gotta stop posting at 3AM., really I must.

My Pron (some dean, some non)
by * on Sun Jul 16, 2006 1:54 am
Epiphone Goth V(flipped), the neck to the b.c. rich i'm working on currently, my pride and joy-the FBD, my first guitar a peavey raptor(some may call it busted, i prefer the term "extremely well loved" or "ultra relic") and my 87 b.c. rich platinum warlock.
I know there are alot of Dime fans out here in the forum. I am also one of them. I have a question...How come we cannot get the Dean Dixie Rebel in a stop tail piece? I like the Floyd Rose but sometimes you just want something different.
I want a Dixei Rebel for the badass guitar that it is but do not want to pay the 2 or 3 grand to have one custom built in the USA shop. Any body have any suggestions...

looks pretty cool, wonder how it sounds. i'm not that into randall, but that thing looks like a mesa. purdy cool.
The Soltero may be my favorite guitar ever
Of course I need to actually play one before I can definetly say that. But I know Dean's quality and I like how Hardtails play, so I'd be very surprised if I didn't love this.
Everyone has a guitar shape that they 'connect' with. I love my Caddy and my pointies, but there is something about that Soltero that I really like.
I always felt that Dean took the classic Gibson designs and made them better. I wanted a Flying V when I was in high school. Until I played a Dean V.
I'm not sure anyone ever improved on the Les Paul design except for possibly the PRS Singlecut, which is a really nice guitar. But I think Dean has done it again. They took a classic design and made it better.
To me the Soltero has all the elegance and class of the Les Paul, but with the sexy sportscar like curves. I REALLY LIKE the guitar.
I will own one, but it may be a couple of years. I already have a bunch of guitars (that I don't want to sell) and I've got kids and a family to feed. So a Soltero will not be in my immediate future. But I'm going to start stashing away some money and slowing that bank account will grow and one will be mine!
So only problem.....What color?
Hey guys, I just bought a SKB PS-45 pedalboard and I'm brainstorming on a way to put my hendrix wah on it with the velcro. I can't just slap the velcro on the back because the rubber feet on the bottom make it sit too high up. If I take the feet off and try to just screw the plate back on with out them the screw is too long and the back plate wobbles around. Any suggestions? I've seen a million of these boards with wah's all over them so there's gotta be a way. Thanks guys.
What are your guys' favorite floyd nuts? I want one of the higher end ones, just don't know which one to choose.

Moser and BC Rich Lawsuit - Dismissed
by BLOYD on Mon Jul 17, 2006 2:12 am
Well, not long ago you had PRS defeating Gibson in the lawsuit over the single cut and now finally, an agreement between “Moser Custom Shop” and “BC Rich” on the Bich and Seagull designs.
http://mcs.acidpit.org/viewtopic.php?t=10041
So if you want a “Moser 10” (BC Rich’s version is named the BICH) here is #2 just rolling out if the shop…actually I think it’s sold already.

Here is my new amp. I was going to get a Mode 4, or Crate BV, but after I heard this amp I was totaly floored! The guy at Bill's music told me that many people were surprised by it's tone. It has soooo much balls. I got the flat cab to help with the extra deep tones. I used to have a 6505+ and this amp kills it. I really like that fact that it is solid state too. Not as many worries.
anyone have MAB's speed kills 2
i was going to go to my local college's website , the college is called Angelo state university , and the website is angelo.edu . well i typed in angelo and then hit ctrl enter , which puts www and .com automatically on so you dont have to type them . angelo.com is MAB's site so i decided to look around and bought the speed kills 2 DVD , just wondering if anyone else had picked it up .
BRAVE DAVE'S 2006 SUMMER NAMM COVERAGE ! ! ! MORE PICS ADDED
Well, we got back from the Summer NAMM show is Austin this afternoon and I have to say it was an awesome experience. Austin is only about 150 miles from where I live, so there was no reason not to go. Janet has a ladies retreat to go to, so my sweet daughter Natalie went with me and we had a great time. I have some great pics to share and I won't waste any more time getting to them.
We left Houston at 5:15 on Saturday morning so we could have breakfast with Elliott and the crew. The Embassy Suites hotel has a complimentary breakfast and Elliott was waiting in line when we got there. They also have a complimentary happy hour with any open bar...go figure.
We went to the convention center and as soon as I got to the booth THIS guitar commanded my attention. It's a trans-black redwood Z. This guitar is stunning.
How about a trans-red spalted maple Z. The guys as Dean never cease to amaze me with their originality
Next we have an orange Z and and orange ML ! !
I couldn't wait to see the new Soltero for myself. Having seen the design a few months ago, I knew that this one would be a big hit. I was correct...all of the dealers love this guitar and many orders were taken over the three-day weekend.
The body contour along with the upper body relief really sets this guitar apart from the many Les Paul copies. This guitar is going to give the Les Paul a good run for it's money.
This is the Leslie West Signature Model. He is famous for his preference for single pick-up guitars so Dean built him just what he likes. Leslie's guitar was made in Braziliaburst with a V-neck.
I got this shot to really show the upper body contour. There is only so much you can do with a single-cutaway two-pickup guitar, but Dean has managed to come up with a fresh new approach.
*Rewind to 1970*
I was a freshman back then and a total Black Sabbath fanatic. My best friend's big brother told me about this new band called Mountain that was really cool. I didn't think any band could every be more cool than Sabbath. I had only been interested in rock and roll for about a year. When I heard "Mississippi Queen" I just about flipped out. What a great tone! That was 35 years ago. Mountain and Leslie's subsequent band "West, Bruce and Laing" have been a staple in my music collection since then. Needless to say it was a big deal to me when I found out that Leslie was coming to the NAMM show. Saturday was one of the most memorable days in a long time for Brave Dave.
We got to the show around 9 am. I wasn't sure when Leslie was going to show up. I was out roaming around the show at one point and when I came back, there he was! It was so cool to be standing 6 feet from a guy who was a tremendous influence on me.
Everyone has known for a while that Leslie West was playing a Dean Cadillac. What came as a pleasant surprise was that Dean had designed a single pickup Leslie West Signature Model for him. He is famous for playing Les Paul Juniors. He still owns a few. I asked Leslie if he might play a bit and he said no. Hmmmmm....! I plugged the Soltero in and played the opening riff to "Why Don'tcha" and that really his attention. He stopped signing autographs, grabbed his Signature Model and said "Here, let me show you how to play that the right way." (I knew that would get his attention!) Leslie is a teacher and ran a very successful guitar school. Everyone really enjoyed hearing him noodle around.
After a few minutes, the man you see in the left of the picture comes into the booth and he and Leslie were laughing with each other and cutting up. They were obviously good friends. I moved in a little closer and nearly dropped my jaw....his badge read "John Sebastian". Talk about a cool scene. Two music legends sitting and talking about old times. If you have never heard of the Lovin' Spoonful, then you might not know John. if you are less than 30 years old, you might know him as the guy who wrote and sings the theme song from "Welcome Back, Kotter".
John played Leslie's Signature Model for a while and it was a real treat. Uh...we did change the amp to the clean channel!!
What?!? Did you think I wasn't going to get a pic with him for myself??
What a day this had turned out to be so far. Here Dean talks with Leslie and John
As if that weren't cool enough, another well-known guitarist comes strolling into the booth and Leslie says "Hey, you gotta play this guitar. This thing is really something!" He straps it on and rips into some of the most amazing licks I have ever heard.
Who is the mystery man? It was none other than Rick Derringer!! He played the Soltero for a few minutes and even entertained us all with a few bars of "Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo".
Three guitar greats in one shot!
Rita strolled by and Doug Pinnick of King's X was with her. I intercepted Doug and pointed out someone he might want to meet He and Leslie spent the next few minutes talking. Turns out Leslie is a big King's X fan as well.
After the show, Dean and I along with Mark Lewno, Tyler Zelinsky and my daughter all had dinner with Leslie and his fiance, Shay. We listened for nearly two hours to some of the best stories we had ever heard. Leslie told us about the early days of Mountain, Felix Pappalardi (bass player for Mountain), a little "gig" he played called Woodstock. It was absolutley priceless. After dinner, Leslie was ready to head back to the hotel so I offered to drive him back. Now, how ironic was this. 35 years ago I was wearing out his records, and now here I am driving him around Austin, Texas. Who'd 'a thunk it?
Earlier in the afternoon, I was plonking away on the Soltero and I hear Dean calling me, asking if I had a camera. I looked up to see a face that I just couldn't place. Dean grabbed the double-neck Hardtail off of the wall and asked me to get a few shots of him and Peter Tork! If you don't know who Peter is, then you will have to find out for yourself.
Natalie was a real trooper at this show. She had gotten up and 4:15 AM to be ready to go at 5:00. When Peter showed up she was immersed in a book she had brought with her. After I got the pics of him and Dean, I called out to Natalie and asked if she would like to get her picture taken with somebody. She looked around and didn't know who I was talking about. I told her "This is Peter Tork of the Monkees". Man, her face lit up like a Christmas tree. It was truly a Kodak moment.
Steve from Blue Rock Guitars made a guest appearance this year. He was determined to take the Hardtail Double-neck home with him. Jon Puhl is always willing to ham it up for the camera
The new Hardtail Select was a big seller. It's an import and is priced much lower that I ever expected.
Talk about the Dean Old Guys. Sal Holt (BigDog) popped in and I was sure glad to see him. He was at the very first DOA meeting in 2002.
Tyler and Natalie spent a lot of time talking. I was glad there was someone there who was close to her age. They have a lot in common and hit it off really well. Hmmmm....maybe.....!! I could sure get a good deal on Dean guitars. Uh...did I say that out loud? But seriously folks...Tyler is headed off to Boston next year for film school. He is quite the cinetographer already.
These Razorback V's are looking more jagged than pointy, don'tcha think? Dime would sure be proud to see how well his design turned out.
Dime guitars abound!!!
These are about the flashiest guitars I have ever seen!
The Summer NAMM show are usually much smaller and a little more laid back than the Winter NAMM, but this show was right up there at the top. I had a great time and I thank Elliott and Dean for allowing me to tag along.
Oh, did I mention how cool the new Dean Soltero is?
Probably been seen before, but, Govan!!
Just wanted to post a movie with a in my opponion truly amazing guitarist.
The whole package, originality, creativity, flawless tech (and a full range too) as well as a perfect command of timing. Guthrie Govan just blows me away every single time

Equalizers?
by Dim3 on Mon Jul 17, 2006 10:31 am
Whats your choise for a good EQ? I'm looking for one right now, but none of my local guitar stores want to lend me one for trial, and they dont want to hook 'em up to a amp either, for some reason.
Please reccomend some good EQ's. I've been looking for a EU version (powervise) of the Furman PQ-3 and 4 but none are to be seen.
I dont care if its a rack EQ or a floor unit, aslong as it works and rocks
What color for a Soltero???
I'm been thinking all weekend about what would be the best color for a Soltero. Any of the hardtail colors are available.
Some of my thoughts so far -
FADED DENIM -
Pros - Dischords faded denim V is one of the nicest guitars I've ever seen. This paint looks so much better in person.
Cons - I don't like the look of the faded denim in the hardtail gallery. Is it just another example of this color not looking good in photos? Or will these color just not look good on this shape?
VINTAGE CHERRY SUNBURST
Pros - The classic Les Paul color that I fell in love with as a kid.
Cons - Too common and boring
TIGEREYE
Pros - The similar Gibson color (Tobacco sunburst?) looks fantastic on the Les Paul. It's a very rich and expensive look.
Cons - My Caddy is this color. Do I really want too guitars with the same finish?
TRANS BRAZILIABUST
Pros - I like the look of the hardtail shown with this finish.
Cons - Never seen this finish in person and I'm not a fan of the normal Braziliaburst.
AMBERBURST
Pros - I like the photo of the hardtail in this finish
Cons - Too boring???
Behold!!! I HAVE SPAWNED!!!!!!
Yet again....found out today that we were expecting again. this will be child number 3.
Any donataions to the JMLNANDACAIDTTMK (JammerML Needs A New Dean And Can't Afford It Due To Too Many Kids) club will be greatly appreciated!!!!!
So I was in the forest yesterday riding my bike...
And I found this!!!! what the hell type of spider is that? is it radioactive?... A forest fire started while I was there too.. great day though:O) had quite the adventure.
I was surfing on the web when suddenly I saw this :
look at the one on the right
the text said "Randy playing a Dean Z whose production began in 1977"
so I already saw the pic where he plays a Dean V but here it's a Z or an ML ... what dyou guys think ? is it even him in the picture ?
Major Wrist Pain
by MZDA on Mon Jul 17, 2006 11:33 pm
Mmmhm, while I was playing guitar today I got a huge pain through the top of my left wrist.. I'm not sure if it's from playing too much or something like that..
It was fine yesterday.. I usually warm up by playing scales, trills and some sweeps for about 10 minutes before practicing..
It feels like it's gonna pop.. but then I stop playing and move it around and there's not pain, but then I play again and there's pain..
Anyone ever experience this? Can any of ya'll help?
So what guitars did Dean Z personally design?

There should be Dean trading cards!
Dean trading cards would be awesome!
Full color cards with photos of killer guitars. All the specs would be on the back (complete with interesting trivia).
That would make fun collectors items, plus they'd be a great giveaway at NAMM.
I'm serious, they would make a great giveway at NAMM. You could have cards for the new models along with classic Dean cards. The new guitar cards would make great advertising for the new models. The vintage guitar cards would be great for educating people about the heritage of Dean guitars.
I want it.....now....
Not feeling well lately...
Hey dudes. I am 36. Been feeling real dizzy lately. Started Sat afternoon. Went to the ER last night around 1000pm. They did EKG, CatScan, bloodwork and chest X-Ray to rule out the real scary sh!t. Doc told me two days off work and Rx me some little medicated tabs to put behind my ears to help with motion sickness and nausea. I haven't been nauseas though. They aren't worrking. Can't drive, most motion messes with me. The ER doc mentioned vertigo so did the wife, but stopped short of diagnosis. Any thoughts, ideas, similar instances? Thanks. By the way, does anyone think that slant cabs and straight cabs sound different?
82 Lefty Dean Baby V...how much should i pay?

dean veterans, what would be an appropriate price to pay for this guitar, i've never seen one before left and i don't know how much it should go for.
neck tenons fact and fiction
Bolt on, bolt in, neck through, set, deep set....
Can anyone provide me with an unbias review of the different styles of neck tenons. Yes, I know that neck through is the most desireable and set is the least desireable. So says the general public. I know Dean prides themselves on making a very fine guitar but also use the least desireable tenon style (set). Is all of this talk just that...talk? I can appreciate the engineering benefit of a neck through style but is this really necessary. There are a lot of vintage Gibson's out there that are of the set style and are still used after 40 and 50 years. What's the real story? Does it matter at all? I have written Dean about this but have not heard back as of yet. Comments???

a lot of people seem to dislike this place on here. i was just curious as to why. the reason i ask is because i want to be a luthier and they have a few people from the school i want to attend working for them right now and they seem to make good instruments. what's the deal with people not liking the guy/place. i'm going to go there this weekend.
Sounds good to me.
MEGADETH frontman Dave Mustaine and drummer Shawn Drover recently spoke to Jon Wiederhorn of MTV.com about the progress of the recording sessions for the band's new album, "United Abominations", which is scheduled for a Halloween release.
"We rented [LED ZEPPELIN drummer] John Bonham's drum kit and recorded at a studio in [PINK FLOYD guitarist] David Gilmour's house [in England], which was great," Mustaine said.
"The kit is the only one that's available in the world to rent," Drover added. "Dave surprised me with that, which was pretty incredible because I didn't even know it was possible to get Bonham's kit to rent for anybody. So I incorporated the bass drum and his floor tom and a snare on the kit that I use in the studio, and that was really inspiring. We played in the middle of nowhere and it was just a really cool vibe."
Regarding the musical direction of "United Abominations", Mustaine said, "If I was to say what time this record would have came out, I would have said some time before [1990's] 'Rust in Peace' or sometime after [1992's] 'Countdown to Extinction'. The critics called 'The System Has Failed' a return to form, but this is even more so. The record company that I'm with now gets it and I'm with management who gets it. So I don't have to write songs because the wives of certain bandmembers are griping or their mortgage is not getting paid or management is telling me that I've got to get a record done to do the tour and I've got to do the tour because if not, I'm not going to be able to pay my bills."
"United Abominations" will contain 11 songs, including the title track, "Washington's Next" and "Gears of War"; an additional track will be included with the Japanese release. "It's a really diverse record," Shawn said. "There's some faster stuff that should appeal to the band's thrash fans and it's got a little more mainstream stuff as well. It's definitely not one-dimensional."
Terry Syrek - "Aum"
by Guest on Tue Jul 18, 2006 8:52 am
I gotta pimp this dudes name out every chance I get. Anyways, I got his cd "Aum" and its definately a must have for any shred/acid metal fan. Syrek plays extreme shred with a world music influence, but what really sets him apart from the crowd is his rhythm chops are, bar none, the best I've heard from any shredder, solo artist or not, I've ever heard. I guess I'd steal Bloyd's term "Acid Metal" to describe the guy. The songs go from slow acoustic pieces to fast thrash meltdowns, to meditative world music. He sings on 2 of the tracks, not the best, but better than most solo guitarists-kind of a grungesque voice, and it fits the songs well. His playing itself lends itself more towards jazz than neo-classical, but he has a little of everything in it-if you like some of the fusion guitar stuff but cant get into the rest of the music, you'd love this. If you like fusion and you like metal, this is likewise, a great album. His phrasing is also completely free of the rock and metal cliche's you've heard a million times, which is a nice break for sure. Oh,and He also killed 2 of his left hand fingers from over-practice- but you would never get that figured out without knowing. You can find clips/order it here http://www.guitar9.com/aum.html and also on his website, www.terrysyrek.com
Sorry for the blabbing, but I cannot get over how awesome this album is.
Fingers per fret
by Robb1977 on Tue Jul 18, 2006 10:50 am
Hi just got myself a dean and am getting back into playing after an 18 month forced break cos of a finger tendon. Anyway great forum but what im wondering is i was always led to believe to use a finger per fret. Now this is fine near the nut but say at the 12th fret this becomes a bit of a problem. Ive seen music vids were people will play with there first finger on the 12th there second on the 14th third on the 15th now this isnt strictly a finger per fret and i was wondering what people on here do and what there opinions are.
Sorry about the long winded post but its been doin my head in ha ha

Some good clips with thh XL or with the C as well would also be much appreciated as I would consider this for the neck.
Thanks!
Any photos of the color 'Root Beer Burst'?
I've searched but can't find any.

dean warranty
by * on Tue Jul 18, 2006 7:20 pm
so, my FBD says the warranty is void if any mods are made to the guitar, what qualifies, i mean, changing a knob is technically mod, is it not? i'm only asking because i think it's about the time i gave it a dimebucker abortion and put in a BL 500xl
Randall RH300G3 G3 Series
Is this head any good?
Well, anyways, is it any good? I've heard good things about it. As long as it has a lot of gain, i'm cool with it.

LewnWorx Summer NAMM 06 Coverage pt. 2 - The Booth
Ok, round two..
A big part of any show is "working the booth", which means standing around and talking to anybody who comes in the booth.
Having worked about a zillion trade shows in my life, I can testify that it's seriously hard work. By the end of the day you're shot, your throat is show and there's really nothing you'd rather do but go to the hotel and collapse.
Dean works the shows HARD. As in non stop. He was pretty much constantly talking shop, as the following shows..
Leslie West was on hand to show off his new signiture model, play a bit and sign pix for the fans.

Mongo of Hillbilly Orchestra on the phone getting a replacement motor for the tour bus..
HBO's Boss and Mr. Fabulous make even the smallest axes sound killer.
John and Tyler Zelinsky checking out iTunes.
The HBO guys clowning for some promo shots.
Bizz prepares to blow the walls off the Krank booth with some assistance on the knobs form Evil D.

LewnWorx Summer NAMM 06 Coverage pt. 3 - Outworld
Ok, this is a BIT out of order but it was what I uploaded next, so deal..
Saturday, Elliot's telling me at the booth that I have GOT to hear this guy Rusty Cooley play. He's a new Dean endorsee and Elliot was like "he will just blow you away.."
So we hop off for a killer dinner at a mexican place (that was happy to announce on it's sign that it was a "breast feeding freindly establishment" no less, how's that for a hoot?), and after dinner head across the street to catch Outworld, Rusty's band.
One would say "Rusty can play" in the same sort of way one might say "MAB has seen a guitar before". He's that good. Scratch that, he's scarily good. This guy has some of the fastest, tastiest smoothest friggin sweep stuff I've ever heard. Furthermore, he takes advantage of as many strings as you can give him as you'll see below.
Outworld isn't just a mechanism for Rusty to show off his chops either. They're a full on no foolin' band, and the songs are SONGS, not just background for Rusty's awesome chops. The arrangements are ludicrously complicated, the band is sickeningly tight.
If you like Dream Theater you'll love these guys. The vox are a bit unusual in a world full of shrieking screaming emo guys that never learned what a pitch is. Heavy duty hi pitched stuff with a lot of thick well arranged harmonies, i.e. these guys can sing.
At any rate..
Here's the prototype Rusty Cooley 7 string sig model.
Make no doubt about it, this is a Shredder's axe. A very thin ludicrously fast neck, really high frets (Rusty describes as "like a scaloped neck without the scalops") and cutways designed to keep your hand from getting clobbered regardless of what wild crap you're doing. Even the trem is designed for shred in that the fine tuners are recessed to keep out of the way of your palm when speed picking. It's top down shred first ask questions later design.
What I found REALLY interesting playing the thing at the booth was the neck. It felt a LOT like HFO but obvioulsy a lot wider due to the added string. For months now I've been trying to put words to what the difference was between the stock HT neck on the pre 2004 stuff, the V Necks and HFO. And it's the thinness. I swear, Dean needs a 3rd profile. One built for shred. It just took hearing Rusty explain the thing to make it gell for me. It's a different approach, but if one's after speed that's where it comes from.
Anyway back to the live shots..
Ok, now this thing is NUTS. Due to having 8 strings, there's enough gauge difference that the FRETS have to be panned in order to keep the intonation right. Dunno about you guys there's no way in HELL I could play something like that but Rusty made it look painless. He's just as fast and fluid on this thing as he is on a normal neck.

POST SOME SOME CLIPS OF YOUR SOLID STATE AMPS
FOR SOMETHING TO DO
LewnWorx Summer NAMM 06 Coverage pt. 4 - Six String MP
Ok, now for those of you who've been living under a rock, the Six String Masterpeice display is a touring tribute to Dime that many different folks in the biz have contributed to. Elliot & Dean put up the guitars, various artists painted and otherwise modified them, and Curse Mackey and his guys have taken the thing on the road, living off primarily donations to get it from one town to the next.
The exhibit made it's debut at another NAMM show and it's been in various places around the country since then. Those of you who went to DOA5 got to see it at Dean HQ this year. I've seen it several times now, and have been taking shots of the "new additions" every chance I get.
First up: Nancy Wilson's piece. For those too young to remember Heart were heavy Dean users in the day, and made a few seriously unforgettable videos featuring Deans.
Steve Steven's piece.
Joe Satriani's Piece
Kirk Hammett covered his in Dimes. Here's his inscription..
Dunno who THIS guy is.
HBO's Mr. Fabulous and one of the hard working Six String Masterpiece road crew.
Curse Mackey engaging in serious rubberband warfare.
The Sign
Elliot & the SSM Crew..
The Coffin Case girls were on hand. The other shots I have of them aren't exactly suitable for a family friendly site. We'll say they were interesting. Unfortunately they had a bit of a transportation hang up shortly after this but I understand it got resolved and all is well.
Now I have no idea why they let the bozo on the left in.
Ok, and I STILL have more but those are gonna have to wait until tomorrow. Stay tuned...
How is this thing used with solid state amps??
Right now I have a peavey bandit 112 till I can afford a better amp.
Im wondering how the OD will affect it.
Im looking for some samples of guitar straight into amp.
Playing maybe sum ozzy stuff like miracle man then sum heavier stuff just to see how the gain is.
This will be a huge purchase for me at my age (15) If I do get one and thats the head alone...
No place that ive been to has had one to try.
THANKS!
I've got my foot in the door of an established band in their infancy stages and I'll be damned: I don't want to change a thing. The recordings suck and there are no lead tracks, but you get the idea. I think it sounds like Sabbath infused with a heapin' helpin' of Dixieland soul with groove. It's gonna be a blast!

Razorback review in this months Total Guitar
well exactly what it says in the title of this thread..
umm but to expand a little..
3 page review, with nice pictures..
5 outta 5....say its awsome.
back a couple of months ago, when i had all my troubles with getting my razorback, the company "bill lewington" had said that they had lost 2 slime bees....and sent one off for review..
so chances are, the one they reviewed was the one on the despatch document that went to my dealer..
only to be scribbled out and withdrawn...
thankfully....those great folks at BRG (well more specificallay steve) saw me right, not only was the guitar cheaper (uk retail price is £995....which is about $1800 i guess), i got the thing within a week of ordering.....and when i bust a string 2 mins after getting the thing outta its lovely case, they were again very helpful.
my advice, if your looking to buy a razorback, order from one of these fellas on this board.
i had been meaning to post a thank you message up, but i have been too busy playing the thing lol.
i would post some pictures...but i have no camera....boooo

Dean Bass question (basic)
by punkrox on Wed Jul 19, 2006 7:30 pm
I recnetly bought a Dean bass used....it plays nice....however, it was advertised as a Dean Edge 4, However, I am not sure what the difference is between the Edge 4 and Edge 1.
It has three control knobs, but I have seen pictures of Edge 4s with both 3 and 4 knobs....there is no other marks other than it was made in Korea and serial number. The color is white.
Like I said it plays well enough for me but would like to know what I have. It also might be nice to know the advantage of an Edge 4 over an Edge 1
Thanks

I actually like them they are pretty good. Its cool beacause the Vocalist sounds scarily like James Hetfield... I donno why... What are your thoughts on them and is it just me or does he really sound like James? I know they toured with each other alot in the 80's and maybe 90's but it really seems like they rubbed off on each other hehe. Listen to Disciples of the Watch. It "sorta" sounds like metallica, but they have sort of a different style I dont know.. I really liked the solo in Disciples of the Watch too..
Got this in Email...

hey BraveDave!!!....you gonna be there???
Hi all, firts time poster here.
So I've got my eye on a Sarasota (6 string) and I have a couple questions. I know it's a mahogany body, but how much do the maple cap and neck "brighten" the tone on this puppy? I am prolly going to swap out the pick ups (I always do, lol) and I'm trying to decide what to use. I'm kinda lookin for a Robben Ford/Larry Carlton kinda tone. Think Carlton's tone on Steely Dan recordings. And yeah, I know the Dumble had something to do with it, lol.
But I'm thinking vintage sounding to maybe slightly hotter than vintage pickups. Would a Duncan Jazz (neck) be too bright in this guitar? Looking at Seth's, 59's maybe even a Pearly Gates in the bridge. Any suggestions? Thanks guys.
anyone have a DUAL rectifier?
Need sum high gain clips...
THANKS
and yes, Im still gettin a jcm800
tried one out today w/ od-1 and its godlike
Had to share...haha
guitar center and fedex both suck balls
i got my mesa nomad today , i made the deilvery guy wait until it was opened up ( GUITAR CENTER DID FUCKKIN HORIBBLE PACK JOB ) and was surprised to see the amp in one peice . So things are looking good so far . I take to my room and plug everything in , flip the power switch , NOTHING AT ALL . NO POWER , NO LIGHTS NO SOUND . I check the amp to see if the power cable was in good and try again NOTHING . I though maybe the fuse was rattled loose , yeah the fuse cap was loose , so i pull it out NO FUSE IN THE AMP . So i have some extra fuses that happen to be what i need . I plug one in , and finally get power , so i go to turn the amp off stand by THE THING SHUTS DOWN IN A SECOND . I though well that is shitty . So i try another fuse , blows it too .
getting that shittt sent back tomorrow , and i dont know what i am going to try and buy next .
BBE Sonic Stomp Box / BBE 362 Sonic Maximizer
I'm thinking about getting a BBE unit. I was wondering if there is a difference between the BBE Sonic Stomp Box or the BBE 362 Sonic Maximizer. Are they the same thing?
Just letting you know.....
I just did a shot of Jaegermeister and chasin with Heineken. FYI
