Need help finding something (Recording Crap)
Is there anything like this....Sorta like a Mixer that has Firewire out that lets me record 4 things to 4 seperate tracks. I basically know nothing of the art of Recording =). Heres the Deal im getting a Powerbook (mac) laptop for school. But hey since I got it I wanna record on it to since Logic Pro looks really cool. I was hoping I could get a Mixer and Record everything trew the line in but I figured that it will only record to one track, Drums bass Guitar all on one track which I dont want.
So is there anything out there for me!!
Thanks-
Ps. Am I looking for something like this... http://www.music123.com/Alesis-iO-14-i390853.music

79 series post your pics
by hayden on Fri Sep 01, 2006 3:08 pm
hey guys i want to see your lovely dean 79 series any model and colour.
Just got her yesterday!!!!
I'm a lefty still browsing what little selection of Dean's are available for me... i have a FBD ML and love it.
besides that, there arent many lefty models, or many options for finishes ect for those that are LH.
I always see this silverburst Caddy on ebay though, i was wanting to know the similarities in playability to the ML. and i noticed it looks to have a fatter body?? hows that affecting the sound?? i'd like to put different pups in whatever i get, something with alot of bite like the SH-13 or something. but i dont know what it'd sound like.
any advice and help would be nice, thank ya everyone.
when lookign for a small screw driver to take the back plate off my bros FBD so we (I) could install the new Trem arm (which is awsome btw) i found a small box filled with change and other odd bits and some guitar parts (strap posts now replaced with strap locks etc) and at the bottom of this little box were a DOZEN Guitar picks!!!!
YAY!!!!
now if only i could find more stashes of guitar picks somewheres... they have to be collecting somewheres.... i should clean under my bed. i'll prolly find at least another dozen under there...
Whats' everyones opinions on them? I saw they have a 50W tube head (RH50T), which is exactly what I want. And the price is pretty sweet. But I've heard some reviews from here saying that Randalls canb e pretty dodgey? I'm also worried about the tone. I wanna get that high gain, Dime/Zakk Wylde type thing goin. Can this amp do that?
Advice: Effects and must haves...
Hey guys...
I'm not always in the mood to be tethered to my jam space and rack equipment so I am looking to get some pedals for my practice amp. I don't need that many, just some basics. I like the sound of my Hughes and Kettner, but I need more than distortion on/off. That said, what brands are best, and is there something I "must" have? (I tried memorizing JA1010's but can't remember them all!!!) I play metal, old school rock, and some clean stuff.
Volume Expression pedal?
Chorus
Distortion (not req'd)
Pitch shifter?
Chromatic tuner?
I think that about does it, but there ar emany varieties and flavors of each, especially the pitch shifter. Boss? DOD? [/i]
I just bought my first dean today! It's a 94 and I'm not quite sure what it is I've never seen one like this before. It's kind of like the DFH but there isnt two tones of blue its all a dark blue color. It also has the lightning bolts on it. I may just be naive in the world of older mls. Thanks!
Is the Rocktron Silver Dragon a good dist pedal?
Lost 100 Rumor - Shipping soon????
I heard an unconfirmed rumor that a few lost 100's are completed and will ship soon! If any of you out there that ordered one doesn't mind, PLEASE post pics if/when you get one...
I will be eternally grateful!!!!!

Best "Musician finder" Site?
I have been playing guitar for around 6-7 years and I have jamed with a few people here and there, but I am wanting to find musicians (that are deticated like me) to jam with and maybe start a band.
I tried searching google and a bunch of sites came up for finding bands and musicians. I was just wondering if there is one site that beats all the others? I live in canada and alot of the sites I found were only for america.
I am also going to put a ad in the Buy, Sell, and Trade.
Or does anyone ahve any other information on how to find bands and musicians to jam with?
I know two drummers and two guitar players, but they are not very good, and they never have time to jam (let alone start a serious band).
That Ted Nugent....at it again

2 New Trivium songs,The Crusade and Entrance
by dmsdj5 on Sun Sep 03, 2006 12:25 am
As much of Trivium fan as I am,I do not like the lyrics to Entrance of the Conflagration. There is a trend in todays modern metal of anti-religious lyrics that seems to be in a majority of bands lyrics 24/7.This is a very strong case.Though these lyrics are not "I hate God per say",it's a story of a woman who is religious and goes crazy and kills her kids and being tempted by Satan to kill herself.WOW.......just wow.I will ignore them for the sake of the rest of the song kicking ass.Great guitar work as always, not a sweep picking wank like some people think thats all they do.Give it a listen
http://www.krakaos.free.fr/audio/Trivium-entrance_of_the_conflagration_krakaos_rip.mp3
The other song is the 8 minute instrumental. This is a pretty crappy rip,but it was played on Bruce Dickensons radio show, and some dude grabbed his mic and recorded it through an 8 track.Props to the guy who did this, but there will be a better version up soon.I REALLY like this one.People are still going to give them s#%t saying that they are now trying to be Dream Theater because there are some John Petrucci style riffs in it.I can see myself trying to learn this note for note very soon. This is one of the 7 string songs they made.

Review on the Deans at the local G.C.
by BFH on Sun Sep 03, 2006 1:33 am
Ok so I get there and right away notice the DFH and a DOF(lage). Right away I grab it and look for something good to plug into. For about 5 minutes I was wandering through a desert of (semi)gainless amps and finally find a Line settle in the back.
Graphic looked pretty cool but the body was all smudged up so you could tell she wasn't a virgin anymore Plugged her in, for about 5 minutes she played fine. They needed to adjust the action though. The BL was a bit bassier than the Dimebucker and the floyd looked better than than the one on my Flame (Didn't feel like arguing my way into gettin the bar from the emo kids). Honestly I have to say I didn't notice much of a neck difference from the flame either. So I switch to the middle position on the toggle for a little warmer tone and change the Line six to clean, Play for like a minute then switch to the neck. Than when I changed back to the gainy channel I get that HORRIBLE feedback-like screech I've heard so much about. I wondered why I was geting it on the neck Pup and then switch back to the BL - Even worse!
Over all
Looks:7
Playability:7(probably higher if I woulda had my way with the action)
Quality:9
BL - Get a new one
Switched to the DOF(lage)
Haunted by the BL screech I set the blue beauty down and picked up the flage. It was way more sparkley than I had imagined. Distorted tone was good. The stock bridge suprised me on it and the neck sounded very similar to my flame's - which is a bit warm for me. Clean on it was ok.
Looks: 8
Playability:7
Quality: 6
Guit/price ratio- Very good
Lastly I Grabbed the Schenker standard(I think) and plugged it in.
Sounded pretty much like the Flage.
Looks: 6
Playability: 6
Quality 6
Sorry for the long post
Any way to get in contact with Elliot/Dean?
by Panties on Sun Sep 03, 2006 2:06 am
I'm a Dean Steet-Team member in the Montreal area, and there's a new music store opening in my town. They're young people who bought the place from a small chain of music stores that we used to have in the area.
This is a really cool store. They sell CDs, shirts, guitars (I'll get to that) posters... you name it. Just a small, hole-in-the-wall place trying to get the music scene started up again in my small town.
The chain they bought it from was a pretty good one. They sold Deans and BC Rich guitars. There was some pretty nice stuff, loved the Deans. Only problem is, that when they bought the store - the guitars and I guess whatever endorsement deal they had before is now gone. The only guitars or musical equipment that have for sale is a bunch of used stuff. Some of which is pretty decent, but not up to Dean quality.
Since I'm a member of the Street-Team, the forum and an avid Dean fan, I told the owner of the store that I would do everything I could to try to find some more information about selling guitars.
If there is any way I can get in contact with Elliot or Dean, please let me know either as a post or PM. Thank you.

Okay, my friend got a Crate Blue Voodoo 120 this weekend. He was gonna get a Marshall, but he got the whole Crate 1/2 stack for $700, so it's a bargain. Anywho, he uses a LP alot which works great, but he also uses a Telecaster sometimes for slower songs. He got a Boss Noise Suppresor to help with feedback. Well it doesn't really do s#%t. When he uses his tele, with the noise supressor, there's still a lot of squeals and stuff. He plays almot directly under a florecsent light so could that be the prob? What can he do outside of new pickups?
Composite guitars, check these out!
I was on Richard Lundmark's (fretdance) website checking out his gear and found he plays an axe made by Flaxwood. My curiosity is totally peaked over these things so I contacted him about it. I haven't heard back from him yet, so if anyone has any information on these PLEASE pm me or post here. Check these out, very interesting...

Think Gibby's Goth series only seven string..........
I love that! Thoughts, anyone else?
I was looking into getting a new amp because this peavey 212 efx isn't really getting me what i want anymore. I wasn't sure what to look for. I know Randall more than likely but never played on one before and there are no randall dealers around here. Looking to get a Vulgar Display of Power/Far Beyond Driven sound. Recommendations???
What model / era Deans had the Duckbill headstock?
Was it just the Czech guitars? or were some of the Asian imports as well?
Auction for 2 of Judas Priest's old mainstay guitars

I vaguely remember these being auctioned by the band for a charity of some sort. Looks like the winner is trying to get their money back.
I might need a dist. pedal :/
When I first started playing, I loved the MT-2. But then, I got better, tried different setups and realised it sucked balls
I have an ENGL now, but I've joined a new band and so the amp has to be where we practice. Ever since I bought the ENGL, I was convinced that I would never need another pedal again, since the distortion in the amp is perfect.
However, I need something at home for practice purposes. Therefore, I've built a 1x12" cab loaded with a v12-60 speaker, and I'll probably buy one of those cute powerblocks from crate. So, with that setup, which pedal might actually sound decent? I need a chunky, meaty, heavy sound with good chuggachugg (nice description? ), and I've heard good stories about the tonebone hot british, the distortus maximus and the doubleshot from MXR.
If any of them resemble the MT-2, they're out of the question, I don't like that thin, scraping sound
I tried one out today and was blown away! This was totaly unexpected. I was waiting for my tech to show up at the store he works at and they had the new all tube Kustom combo amps in. This one had 1X12 open back design and was 2 channel with a lead boost switch. The sound was so great! I was even more impressed to find a balanced XLR out on the back! It also had an effects loop. With the gain cranked it reminded me of a Soldano SLO100. I would love one of these someday as a practice amp.

Anyone have one of these? How do they sound and how would they do as a project guitar?
Anybody tried one of these, quite interested in a Randy Rhoads Polka dot V at some point, just wondering about the build quality etc.
Cheers
Dean Belaire Doubleneck Now HERE'S A GREAT STORY!
Any other custom Deans you made?
Dean Z - Yeah, there's one I want back -- the only real Dean doubleneck ever made, a Bel-Aire type. To me, it was the most beautiful doubleneck I ever saw, too. The Bel-Aire was our answer to the Strat-type, bolt-on neck. The bodies were made, painted, and assembled in Chicago, while the necks were from Japan. In any case, I made the doubleneck for Rik Emmett of Triumph and a week after I shipped it to him -- the most elaborate Dean ever built -- I got a letter from him saying that he would never play it, and he's going to endorse Yamaha. And I never got that doubleneck back.
How messed up is that? Now if anyone wants to give Rik the Prik a call and see what happened to it...
Any impressions on the Carvin SX300R?
I am looking at this pre-amp, and am looking for impressions. Thanks in advance.
Planet Waves S.O.S. STROBE TUNER
I bought some new Daddario strings and there was a ad for a little Strobe tuner. It looks pretty cool, but does it work good?
I heard that strobe tunners are the most acurate tuners out there.
So do you just hold that thing by the string and tune away? Do you have to keep it steady when holding it? How does that thing work?
Do you have to hold it right at the certain spot and at a certain height and then not move it at all?? It sounds like a hasle, or is it easier to use then that?

What company made those star guitars. They look like an Ml kinda but one of the wings is a bit longer??
http://www.warmoth.com/guitar/bodies/radical.cfm?fuseaction=star
Do they exist? I know the lower end dime Tribute ML's are bolt on, but are there any others?
In a related question, do they (Dean) make a bolt on neck with a maple fretboard? I just think, I'd an ML with a maple fretobard would be really cool.
So, I got a good deal on a Mesa Mark IV amp. You have to realise a Mark IV costs 3000 new here, a dual recto 2800. never been a recto fan though, my old dual was muddy as %$#@!. I loved my old Mark III though, theres s a myth these heads supposedly havent got anough gain for metal, but lemme tell you thats a myth! It wasnt much versatile though, so you either had a killer lead tone or a good clean sound. The Mark IV solved all this and sound even more aggressive to me. It does that Metallica MOP or AJFA tone easily. The lead tone is incredible, the rhythm not quite as good as the ENGL SE you see underneath but its close enough. Very tight sounding amp, tightest Mesa has probably ever made, not quite an ENGL or VHT, but again close enough. It has this really nice gain structure and saturation which is in fact very close to my ENGL SE or POWERBALL and the tone has BALLZ for days. Lemme tell you though this head is rated 85 watts in full power simul class operation but it easily destroys anything else I have played volumewise, just like my old mark III did. Only heads I heard that came close are the old 100 watt JCM 800 Super Lead I have at my house at the moment and the ENGL SE EL34 head, but even they stand no chance volumewise. I think even at practise this Mark IVs master volume wont be set above 2. Downside is that is quite some more noisy at higher gain settings
who agrees with me?
by hayden on Tue Sep 05, 2006 3:17 pm
hi guys its not originall but i realy think dean should do it.with the 79 series they should have a wider range of coulors and maybe better pick ups.i just really think they sholud then there wudnt be as much custom guitars.they dont even have to call it then 79 series.if im talkin a load of crap i apologize.
Guess Who else plays Deans...
Michael J Fox... saw it on the news... they had a special on him and there was a picture of him as a kid with a michael Angelo Batio haricut and a rather obvious Dean V headstock on a neck with Block inlays...
I'm into DIY guitar cabinet construction, and I work at a hardware store which also sells construction materials. I can get materials cheap
I've built 2x12" and 1x12" cabs, as they usually are large enough for my needs. However, I've started out in a band, and figured out that a big cab might be cool. I originally wanted to build a 4x12" + 2x15" (like the warhead cab), but that's too much. So, instead I want to combine the two into a 2x12" + 1x15" cab, with separate chambers and the one for the 15" vented (any pros/cons?), as the eminence legend 15" guitar speaker is usually located in vented cabinets.
I recently discovered that Randall actually makes this sort of cabinet. Anyone tried 'em? Is supposed to have awesome low-end.
I joined the ultimate-guitar forums to see what is going on over there, and they are the biggest haters of Dean guitars I have ever seen. A bunch of kids running around that think they know it all. I helped answer a few questions from some guys who asked legitimate question, and basically got gang raped. I don't think I will return there. I was actually called an asshat for playing thier guitars and liking them. WTF? Oh, well I won't think to much on this.
Dimebag guitar pick
by visi0nX on Tue Sep 05, 2006 9:11 pm
I can't find anywhere on what picks dime used. If someone could link me.
I got an FBD a couple months ago, its frippin sick but my slot where the whammy bar goes is loose and wobbly as hell already(sucks i know). How would i go about fixing that.
Your oppinion... Guitar or amp?
OOOKK.....
I have $2000, a fernandes dragonfly pro w/ emg's and a peavey bandit right now
I need to make a choice... Should I save 500 more dollars and get a new guitar, or just buy an engl?
My band currently only plays small gigs and the bandit is sufficient w/ the cab so I was thinking about just getting a vigier marilyn custom and saving some more money for an amp...
Thoughts?

Hears To Metal
by JoeRock on Wed Sep 06, 2006 12:25 am
Hey everybody, I just wanted to give a big shoutout to Metal. 80's Thrash in particular. Not many people like it or listen to it which is the way I like it. It was made by people who were never understood, for people who are never understood. Metal was more than just a style, to me it was a voice that said, i wasn't alone. Well, i dont want to bore you. All I want to say is, Hears to Metal.
Just ordered the preamp and now I am done.... I think. I will be running in this order. Furman Line Conditioner into Sure LX wireless into korg tuner into DFH Wah into Carvin SX300R Preamp into Carvin TS100 Tube power amp into Peavey 4X12. I am sure I will want more later, but this is good for now. I will post some pics in 2 days when I put it together.
Dean V white gold
by Mika on Wed Sep 06, 2006 10:19 am
Has anyone played that guitar, or owns one? Iīm thinking of buying one and i just wanna know, is it the same as ī79 series v, but only with the different paintjob?
Bandmates house was broken into last night...
They got away with my GT6 and all my leads, but luckily left the guitar and head, presumably too much to carry for the little theiving bastards.
I'd like to see them whipped in the street.
Plus I have a gig tomorrow, so will have to use borrowed gear, which always sucks.
But at least I have my health!
can anybody tell me where to get replacement parts for deans from? such as the v plates and suitable pickup rings?
thanks in advance
Oh man I'm going crazy..
by Saradilc on Wed Sep 06, 2006 10:34 pm
Hi guys, I'm really bothered lately. I feel like my picking hand and fingering hand arent coordinated and I feel really sloppy. I'm really motivated and creative and writing music all the time, but its embarassing! I mean some of the stuff I write, I love but I cant even play it without being sloppy as hell.
I am trying to play "kissing the shadows" by children of bodom to get better, but I'm just a little too slow. If I speed up my coordination goes to hell.. I'm going nuts, someone please give me some advice, I know a lot of you guys are great players... or post a link to some excercises that might really help. I really want to advance in my playing and take it to a new level, but at this rate... *sigh* I dont know.
Thanks a lot.
I went to a local guitar store today just to pick up some strings and it so happened that they had a left handed Charvel in so I was like, hell I wanna play that mother buddy haha. So I played it, and I liked it, had a floyd and everything, but I have no idea what model it was. Didn't even think to check, stupid me. But I was wondering if you guys could help me identify it, tried google and the Charvel website and nothin came up.
Here's the discription...
Left Handed
"Strat" shape I guess, kinda like a Jackson Dinky or whatever...
Black
Liscenced Floyd Rose
"Designed by" or something to that extent EMG humbucker in bridge
An EMG single coil in the middle and the neck
And that's all that I can really remember, any help would be much apperciated.
HOw do you pay for your guitars?
im just curious, cause ive been thinking of all kinds of different stuff lately.. paint, finishes./. it really drives me crazy sometimes when i have to realize im operating on a slightly limited budget.
so im wondering - how do you all pay for yours? sock money away till youve got the cash then go looking? slam it on a credit card and pay it off slowly? do you use a line of credit?
do you have the cash in the bank to do it whenever you want?
im talking everyone whos buying from a an entry level peice all the way to a lost 100... please chime in
Opinions on this pedal???
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Dunlop-GCB80-High-Gain-Volume-Pedal?sku=151003
I'm looking for some more volume to cut through the band with when playing solos. I have an OD and love the way it affects my lead tone, but its not boosting me enough sound. Anyone have this pedal? How is it?
Which amp should I choose ?
OK so I'm upgrading my rig for a bigger amp coz I'm gonna play more and more often with a battery so I need MORE POWER !!!
I checked at the shop I usually go to and here's what I found:
- Marshall MG 100DFX / 350
- Peavey Bandit 112 / 350
- Fender Frontman FM212R / 375
I also thought about the Randall RG50TC but it's more expensive and maybe too much power for what I need - plus I couldn't find any here in Paris
so what do you guys think I should do ? I play a lot of 80's hard rock / metal so I need a good distortion
This website looks a bit shady
http://www.mymusia.com/index.php?cPath=1 the guitars are very cheap even with 90 bucks to ship from china and they look like fakes to me.
question for bill lawrence owners
I can't get my guitar sounding quite right. Was just wondering how far some of you had ur pickup from ur strings because ive been tweaking mine and wasnt sure what the standard distance is supposed to be.
ive been out looking at amps, and doing some reading on here. now come the questions.
people have been slamming the late model randalls. a local shop has an RG75G3 combo. no effects, no fancy stuff no nothing. just the clean/ 2 dirty channels and the footswitch. i think its about 360 bucks (canadian). is this current enough to be lumped in with the rest of the poor quality control ones?
im also kind of intrigued by the VOX valvetronix modelling amps. i guess it would give a lot more versatility, and they have a 50 watt combo with a line out to run a cab. the reviews at HC seemed to be not too bad. little stuff here and there, but none listed caught fire or anything
anyone have any knowledge on the VOX? good, bad, cheap.. inquiring minds want to know!!!
edit** if you can suggest something else along these lines ( combo, just for jamming in my room) please do!
What kind of music is this good for?
What kind of Preamp does Alexi Laiho use?
It should be in the back of the new Guitar World but I can't find the magazine.
Mesa Boogie amps
by Goc on Fri Sep 08, 2006 11:18 am
So if you had to pick one of the Mesa heads, which one would it be and why?
What about the Vox ad50vt (valvetronix)
Hey i'm a blues lover and i'd like to have a combo which help me to get a nice blues rock sound .... but also which could be very versatile ..... I wondered if the VOX was a great solution .
Thanks

Hi guys,
I'm planning to buy a new combo vor myself and was looking at the Randall RG100G3. I played on the RG75G3 at the store and really liked it. I just a have a question for you guys. I was wondering if the amp has a preamp in and out option, so I can choose to only use the amps preamp and connect to a P.A. or a cab. I saw that there's an effects loop possibility but that's somethins else right???
thnx for the help!!
Ok, I'm not really big on theory (or chords for that matter) so you guys gotta help me out.
I wrote a chord progression today that goes,
Em, G, C, ???
2 questions.
Does this match up in music theory? Are they all in key and stuff.
and what's another chord that would fit there?
I know it's hard to diagnose with no sound clips or anything (I'll post one later maybe), but the feel of the song is kinda a sentimental type thing. I'm open to all suggestions.
Bonus question. Is there a power chord equivalent to Em?
Bonus #2. What key is the song in? I don't really know because I never need to know what key I'm in normally. What are some balladdy type scales or something so I can solo over it.
Thanks in adavance for the help.
is it possible to put a tremolo arm on a guitar with a fixed bridge such as an X-series or baby? would you cut a hole?
im thinking of going MLX (not the MLXT anymore because im poor)) and putting new hardware on, some seymour duncans and if i can a floyd rose trem. id go for some fancy inlays too.
The Dean Box Monster! DEATH! DESTRUCTION!
by a6equj5 on Sat Sep 09, 2006 3:14 pm
If you see one of these in the wild, do not attempt to capture it, do not attempt to tame it. If you see one, just leave it be. The lack of a food hole in this species means that they have a very short lifespan. Unfortunately, once they die, they are not good to eat since their innards normally consist of multiple types of wood and large bits of metal and plastic.

I Want A Hardtail Like This
I love the semi-hollow "F" hole style and I think a Hardtail would look great.
I'm not diggin' the satin nickle on this but all black would look better.

In need of a new distortion pedal
by muckers on Sat Sep 09, 2006 4:59 pm
Ok, for a while my Zoom 606 had done its job mainly because I'd been a beginner and what it had...well, it was good enough for me at the time.
I recently picked up a Boss MT-2 on the cheap just to see what it was like, and honestly it's pretty shat.
Sure, it's got all these adjustable EQ settings, distortion and volume but they all mean squat seeing as all you can get out of it is a very tinny, muddy sound.
So I'm asking for any recommendations on distortion pedals. I'm mainly playing metal stuff, like Black Label Society, Pantera, Damageplan amongst others like Metallica and Iron Maiden.
Now, I'm not really much of a whizz with tweaking and adjusting settings to get the sound I want (mabye why I can't get a good sound out of the Boss pedal?) so I'm not after anything that has a million knobs and buttons on that you have to have at a specific level to get the right sound.
First and foremost, I'm after a Dime/Pantera sound and generally anything else that fits into that category.
I've heard good thinks about Krank, but what do you guys think?
post your amp/rig pics here
I had a dream last night....
and in it, I saw a flame-top hardtail with no stain, black binding, matching flame maple fretboard and headstock, and pyramid shaped abalone inlays. I was buying it. If someone could photoshop that for me, I would be forever in your debt.
Thanks!
One of my favorite bands. This is the third year in a row they have come to Rome Georgia and this is my third year in a row to go see them. These guys kick ass live. IMO, for guitar rock, it does not get any better.
Lots of porn to follow concert if ya'll want to see it.
Ok, I'm seriosuly considering one of there mostly because it's cheap, and I can cutomize it with a custom neck and stuff. My only concern is the quality. It's a bolt-on I know, but I'm really worried about the electronics shitting out on me and the input jacks comin disconnected (happened to my Squier that I got for the same price as a ML-X). Are they reliable as far as electrocins and stuff. Or should I be expecting to get what I pay for?
PS: What is the body wood?
Which limited run guitar will ship first?
...this is just for fun, guys...for the gambling guys!
I'm thinking the 666 MLF, but not just cause I'm getting one....well, ok, maybe it IS why, but...ha!
..what y'all think?
...ps, when I say ship out I mean, which guitar will land in the hands of it's first owner, not the from the factory....and NO the Dimeslime proto doesn't count ...!
Anyone ever used a guit with emg's on a 5150?

EVH on Howard Stern Sept 8 -- LONG
I just head the replay of the friday show this morning, but there was a fairly extensive interview with Eddie VH. Apparently, he cured his own cancer, and is writig some new music.
They were asking him about the new porno music gig ( whcih was filmed in his house) and about what hes been working on lately. He said all summer him and alex and eddies son have been jamming. Apparently the kid picked up drums first, then piano? then bass. According to ed in the interview "the kid is fxcking dangerous.. " and "the van halen (band?)name will live on long after im gone. "
For anyone that heard the interview, it basically sounded like he said micheal anthony is done for, and eddies kid is gonna be taking over the reigns on bass. Heres the overview from howardstern.com
_________________________________--
Eddie Van Halen called in as promised, and announced he was cancer free after being diagnosed with the disease last year. Eddie went on to say he and another man started a lab in Long Island to help people with cancer, and that they came up with a drug that got rid of the cancer he had on his tongue. Although Howard wondered what exactly was in the drug he created, Eddie responded he couldnt give that information out. Eddie then said he didnt quit smoking even when he had cancer, adding he thought he got the disease from the metal guitar pick he used to use.
When Howard mentioned David Lee Roth, Eddie acknowledged he wouldnt rule out a possible reunion with either him or Van Halens former bassist, Michael Anthony, who Eddie said was on the road with Sammy Hagar billing themselves as half of Van Halen. Eddie then brought up that he wrote two songs for an X-rated movie, Sacred Sin, as well as its R-rated counterpart, Rise. Eddie next said he had been dating his current girlfriend, Janey, for two months, and that they met at a press conference. Eddie also mentioned his 15-year-old son, Wolfgang, was dangerous because of his musical talent on the drums and the bass
Howard got Michael Ninn, the director of Sacred Sin and Rise, on the line, and found out the movies were filmed at Eddies house, and cost $250,000 to make. Eddie then explained the movies as being about the battle of good and evil, and insisted they were legitimate movies that just happened to include grox.
After Eddie revealed the movies would be released September 13th, Artie pointed out if he was going to pay to see a porno, it was going to be one made by the guy who cured cancer.
Eddie said he predicted David Lee Roth would last four months on the radio before he went on the air in January, and also mentioned he felt David took the job because he needed the money. This led Gary to ask if David hadnt earned enough money through Van Halen to live comfortably for the rest of his life, but Eddie replied he didnt think he did. Eddie proceeded to say the reason he was so successful was not only because he co-wrote the Van Halen songs, but also because he invested his money wisely and never stopped releasing music.
I just got my Carvin SX300R. I havn't put it into my rack yet, but I will this week. I plugged it in and tried the use it through the headphone jack and it was just plain noisey. I was a bit discouraged so I called Carvin. The rep told me that the 300R is sensitive to the electrical outlet it is plugged into and will pickup noise from everywhere. Now I am not too worried because I have a really nice Furman power conditioner and I will also be using my BOSS NS-2 mounted into the rear of my rack, but I was just a bit worried by the noise I got just using it with the headphone jack. It has really nice effects that are very transparant, and the 3 channel switch is built very well. I will be putting it into my rack on tuesday and trouble shooting it. I hope it doesn't end up needing to be returned. Any one else have any insight to this preamp? I did a search on the net about it, and have heard that it is noisey, but it sounded like people are plugging it straight into a wall and expect it to be quiet. Any other SX owners here?

Im sure ive seen this somewhere before
Went out to the (somewhat) local shop yesterday, with an older bass amp to come along as a trade in.
went in , said i wanna take that amp home, what can i get for this one. it was a yorkville 200B that i had sitting in the basement for a while - years??_ and didnt use or need. got 100 bucks for it, and proceded to pack this sweet baby up and bring it home
http://www.lamusic.ca/pics/846.jpg
it was the last model of the RG75 G2 they had in either store. came with the footswitch, and it fuggin rips!!!! it squeels like crazy with the gain on the 2nd channel fully cranked, but if you roll it back just a hiar it gets much quieter. that said, the next purcahse will prolly be some kind of noise reducer.
is the MXR smart gate a decent little unit? the ive seen it listed for around 165 or so Canadian, and just quickly found an ISP decimator for 116$ US> whats the better buy??
anyway, back to the amp.. goes good and loud. get a nice gritty sound on 1st gain channel , classic rock-ish. kick to the second one with an EQ in the loop. and it wails.
plus, the trade in saved me a hundred bucks. paid 320 for it out the door. if your in to toronto.mississauga area in ontario, check out LA music. reall good shop to deal with
i got my first dean on saturday .. its a dean from hell and its bloody brilliant. if i knew how to put pictures on here i would

New/Old Guitar (Non-Dean)
I bought me a used Charvel at a pawn shop yesterday. Pretty nice guitar, just needs some adjustments. It's dented up pretty damn good but who cares, it works.
If anyone can tell me what model it is and what year it was made in and whatnot, it would be very much apperciated.
The serial number is: 309914
And where the hell can I get a whammy bar for this thing? None of the bars in the store would fit it, the guy tried everything. It's a licensed floyd, but nothin will go in it...
Anyone know what year ol' Dimebags DFH was??? Basically, I just want to know what years Deans had those amazingly large V profiles. Any help would rule. Thanks.
thanks for the picture Randy, it was the only one I could find
24 fret Deans
by BFH on Mon Sep 11, 2006 7:32 am
Think they're gonna return any time soon? I think the MAB sig is gonna be 24 fret and I don't know if the Rustey cooley model was but I know I'd like to see some 24 fret ML's V's and Z's return, I don't care what they have to do to the scale of the guit etc. it needs to happen!
My amp makes wierd noise after I play a note.
Hey, I have a Peavey XXL head and a Avatar 212 (hellatone 60Ls). I have noticed that on the higher notes that right after I hit the note it makes like a crackling type sound... You know when you have a chord that doesn't work right and you have to jiggle it around sometimes to make it work.... And when you move the chord around it makes little crackling noises.... That is the kinda sound I get right after I hit a note. It doesn't last that long but it is long enough to make it sound like s#%t.
It doesn't do it on the Lead channel though. It is worse on some notes then other. On the A note on the High E string it sounds the worse. I don't really notice it on the low strings though.
What could be the problem? Have any other Peavy XXL users had this problem? Someone was saying that the Peavy XXL head gets noisey and that you need a noise gate thingy. Will a noise gate thingy help with this?
If it will helps you help me I can try recording the sound it makes.
It is really anoying and when ever I play my guitar I just end up stoping after 5 minutes because the noise is pissing me off. It is actually stopping me from playing my guitar.

Poor Man's Custom Shop; !UPDATE! bolt DBD T + bindings on HS
BEFORE YOU SCROLL DOWN TO THE PICS, here's a short history lesson.
I've had this Jackson for 6 years now and all that time it has been the guitar that I've played the most. So, recently I just got bored of it, didn't want to play it anymore, so I had to do something. Since I don't have the equipment or a real place to paint this guitar, exept my backyard, I took the easy way out and did a simple, fast and cheap paintjob.
Tell me what you think...
All the hardware used to be silver but that was just ugly so I painted them black. Then I took a syringe and red housepaint! Here's the result;
Jackson Bloody Kelly KE3 1 of 1.
I know it's not a Dean question.
What do ya'll think about the B.C. Rich NJ Series Classic Eagle? Are they good? How do they play/sound?
Anyone been listening to that new kickass album by Blind Guardian?? It's called "A Twist In The Myth", so if you haven't you should.
They have some really trippy songs on that album like; The edge, This will never end, Other Land, and many more.
If you have never heard them you should definatly check out "The Edge" by them.
Check em out on myspace, but their better songs aren't on myspace.

just wondering ... knowing the fact that lately the G3 members are Satch + Vai + another shredder (Petrucci in 2005 and Malmsteen in 2003) would you think that Rusty Cooley could be on the next G3 line-up ? that would be hella cool !
Any suggestions for what to use on some tarnished chrome hardware. Chrome pup covers and chrome Grover tuner knobs that are slightly tarnishing. No pitting or anything like that. Just that off coloration and dulling.

New Mastodon album is out today? Anyone picking it up or already heard it? I've had the album for a bit already and I'm really digging it, has a few cool cameos from Scott Kelly of Neurosis and Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age. Tons of great riffs and it's really catchy. Everyone should go check it out.

Heirloom Brass resonator cone replacement?
by jszfunk on Wed Sep 13, 2006 10:19 pm
I own a Dean Heirloom and a was told i could get it to sound better by replacing the cone in it. This is my first resonator and I am very pleased...but I was just unsure how much the sound/tone would be effectd by replacing/upgrading it. Thanks

I am wanting to expand my knowlege of how amps work and all that good stuff. I want to leanr more about the poweramp and Preamp.
I work at a music store (1.5 months so far) so I thought I should learn about this kind of stuff. If I didn't work at a music store I wouldn't really care how a amp works... Just as long as it sounds awsome!
Any good sites? I used google but I kept getting sites that were selling the amps and stuff so I thought maybe someone knows a really good site that explains it.
Tube amps
by BFH on Thu Sep 14, 2006 6:04 am
Ok I'm going to be getting a 5150 here in a while and I just thought maybe I should know something about tube amps first
1. How often do you replace tubes and what are some good tubes for metal.
2. What the hell does bias mean and how dothe you bias amp???
3. Anything thing else thats important for me to know when dealing with tube amps.
Thanks for your time guys! Any helps very appreciated!
Right hand opened or in a Fist??
I was just lookin at some pictures and came up with a question.
When you pick/strum do you have you hand in a fist? or are you last 3 fingers pointing out?
I always have my hand in a fist, I can't do it with my hand open.
I think Yngwie Malmsteen plays with a fist. I also think I remember him saying that playing with a fist is better for fast playing, or something like that.

ok, i know OD pedals can give tube amps a nice boost in gain and volume, but only colour the tone when used with solid state.

Poor Man's Custom Shop Pt. 2
Some other dude posted his "poor man's custom shop" Jackson Kelly on here. So I named mine part 2. If you can find his post, check it out, it's badass!!!!
Pt. 2 is my ESP Flying V. Here's a pic of what it looked like before:
Here is the finished product:
I tried to mix the hardware with chrome & black. I had replaced the licensed Floyd Tremolo on my FBD Tribute with an Original Floyd Rose. I bought 1 black & one chrome. The left over parts of the Original Floyd Rose are used on this guitar (chrome base with black saddles & bar).
For the diamond plate effect I used exterior sign grade vinyl, which I got from the sign shop I work at, and then laminated with a clear protective layer. It's far from a perfect finish because of all the splicing I had to do. You know the old saying: far from good, good from far! Total cost of doing this was $120.00 ($20.00 for diamond plate vinyl, $20.00 for laminate, $80.00 for electronics to be reinstalled) plus about 4 hours of my labor for installing vinyl & hardware.
Anyway, let me know what you guys think!

by WULF on Fri Sep 15, 2006 8:25 pm
Anyone messed with this one?Opinions plz.
The UPS man just dropped off my new Peavey Valveking 100 watt tube head today and I plug it in and it sounds great but it i put my volume past 2 i get feed back. Is this a minor setting I'm not dialing in right to cause this? I'm using the amps distortion not a stomp box for distortion. And I get feed back. So unhooked all my effects and hooked my guitar up straight through the amp and I still have it. I have a noise supressor. It did help when i had it hooked up to it.. But i had to turn my nobs all the up on the noise gate to get results. I guess I'm going to try hooking up my noise supressor through the effects loop and see what that does different. I can't seem to figure out how to do that yet though. If someone could help me or give me a few tips I would greatly appriciate it. The tone I am getting out of it is great sounding it's just the feed back that is disappointing me. Thanks - Justin
Digitech RP200 vs RP200A
by a6equj5 on Sat Sep 16, 2006 3:48 am
I just bought an RP200 from eBay. Only problem is, it was listed as an RP200A by the seller.
So now I find myself trying to decide...
1) be a jerk about it and demand a refund so I can buy a real RP200A.
or
2) accept a discount and keep the RP200. (he offered to pay for the AC adapter I had to buy $22, but that still means I paid $65 for an outdated piece of gear)
Does anyone know if there are any differences between the RP200 and RP200A other than the 40 artist presets in the 200A?
check out my band, Randall Century content
please check us out! thank you for your time! Im using a randall century.
Does anybody know what some good recording gear is. I'de like to be able to record stuff in my room and then put it on the computer or something. Is that what those Line 6 Tone Port things do? Something that could record vox, bass, and drums wouldn't be bad. I'de want something where I could use a software to put everything together and what not. Thanks in advance.

THE WHOLE THING
Just took off the lyre style tailpiece and put the stopbar on the Cabbie. Much more sustain and realllly makes the GFS P-90's sing. Dang they sound nice! I had done a full copper shielding of the pickup cavities and control area including the jack area and it's dead quiet even on single pickup. P-90's were known to be a little noisy but not these metal cased ones.
Not a great pic but my camera and lighing is poor.

Followed me home today (non Dean)
by 05MBGTO on Sat Sep 16, 2006 11:07 pm
I picked up a Agile 3000 L.P clone in cherry burst with the slim neck profile today. Always wanted a L.P style guitar and this was too good of a deal to turn down. I took off the hideous pick guard off since it just didn't look right with it. It's not a Dean but it looks really good. 'nography too come.
So I'm in the process of hardcore practicing my lead skills, which are okay but need work. And I notice something, which is that while I can use my pinky perfectly well, I can't START on it, and it's not strong enough to bend a string... I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for how to strengthen my pinky, other than just focusing on it till it's too tired to play anymore. Any help would be appreciated.
Mastodon's Brent Hinds' odd guitar endorsement

Anybody remember that Harmony Central article a while back with some hollowbody guitar luthier that was being endorsed/sponsored by Brend Hinds of Mastodon? I've been searching for it forever now and can't find the name again! Anybody remember?

ML specs help
by marshman on Sun Sep 17, 2006 11:21 am
I'm hoping someone can help me figure out a little more detail on the specs of my ML. I bought it new earlier this year from a store that was going out of business, and the store owner couldn't provide much info on the specs. I think he had the guitar hanging around for a while. It's a black ML, but not a dimebag tribute model. It has chrome covered humbuckers, tune-o-matic bridge, and bolt-on neck with pearl block inlays on the fretboard. It is Korean made. The tag gives the model name as "ML Platinum CBK." SN is E021488. Here's what I want to know:
- Year of manufacture
- Body material (I'm thinking basswood since reg. price was $400, although it is kind of heavy).
- Neck material (looks like maple with a rosewood fretboard, but not sure).
- Humbucker brand and model
Thanks!
different places to have a custom neck built ?
hey guys , this one is sort of a non dean issue because the neck wouldn't be for a dean but does anyone know what some good places are to get an ibanez aanj style neck but with a different then ibanez profile . My razorback has spoiled me and i love the V neck and can't get use to anything else . I dont have the cash for a razor but i do have enough to get me a custom neck made . I want a maple fretboard and like i said i am going to try for a v-neck and if that can't be done it will endup baseball bat style .
thanks for any and all help .

Silverburst '79 series pics?
by MLTC on Mon Sep 18, 2006 3:40 am
I'm interested in the 79 series silverburst guitars (I think they only did the ML and maybe the Z?) but something about them keeps them from looking great. I'm thinking it's chrome pickup covers...? Anybody have any good pictures of this series/finish? Thanks.
origin of the dean split headstock?
by * on Mon Sep 18, 2006 3:58 am
i was reading a guitar book from the 70s called "guitars from renaisance to rock" and there was an old gibson with a mutated looking version of deans famous headstock. i was wondering which came first. i couldn't get a picture of it, but it looked like this headstock.
Odd....

I went to see Brad Paisley friday night ( he's a f%$kin awesome picker, and entertainer) anyways Eric Church was the opening act. When they came on I thought they were metal. Christ it was loud ,and metallic. One of the guitarists was using Krank amps. When Eric started to sing it was country, but alot of the guitar was heavy. The last song they did had parts from Thunder Struck, Crazy Train, Cowboys from Hell, and some others I can't remember off hand. Krank amps for country. Dang.
So i was taking a look at the Boss GT-8 and GT PRO, just wondering if i can get some opinions on them, i mean they look like really useful pieces of kit and would be a great way of swiching between a lot of different tones but how does the sound compare to that of a true amp distortion etc, i remember multi effects pedals ive used in the past never sounding as good at high volumes and losing harmonics with them, so im basically wondering if these really can be used live and in the studio as opposed to a really expensive toy! any help is appreciated.

Need some sweeping help..
Hi guys, I am having some trouble with these sweeps.. I am pretty sure I can get the first one with practice, but the second and third ones are hard, because see in the second one where theres a bombardment of 12th fret, and in the third theres the same bombardment but of 14th fret.. I cant bar that part with a finger because then it all sounds sloppy and all the notes ring at the same time, but its really hard to switch fingers going up/down in the same fret. Anyone got any tips? As you can see they are all the same pattern.

Dean Heirloom Copper cleaning question
by jszfunk on Mon Sep 18, 2006 10:16 pm

Heirloom Cone Replacement
by jszfunk on Mon Sep 18, 2006 10:17 pm
I own a Dean Heirloom and a was told i could get it to sound better by replacing the cone in it. This is my first resonator and I am very pleased...but I was just unsure how much the sound/tone would be effectd by replacing/upgrading it. Thanks
A little Pre-Pron set up. Got a Black Gold V coming this week with a JB/59 pup set and a Tone Pro's bridge installed. I can't wait! Now go ahead and yell at me till I post Pron. LOL Got another gig this coming weekend so I should have plenty of live action.
So while Im waiting on my slime... (non dean, sorry)
i ordered this
http://www.jsdguitarshack.com/images/Tokai_Love_Rock_Bullseye6.jpg
apparently there will be no more tokais shipped to north america because of headaches from gibson, lawsuit threats, etc. this was the last one the guy had in stock.
from what i know of this guitar, they were distributed in Canada only, the guy on the phone said limited to 48-56 peices roughly, and if its anything like my other tokai, should be top notch.
plus, its comes with a case
im pretty stoked, just thought id share with you all
edit: also, the covers on the pickups are just that - covers, not EMGs. its a mohog. body, maple neck and rosewood board.
im sure ill have my balls busted cause its a ZW git.. but i really dont care. (im not a look alike, i have a buzz cut and no beard)
Any predictions on the Boss Micro BR?
I am actually excited that this is coming out. I have always wanted a portable little riff machine. I don't want it for real recording, because that is what the studio is for, but for coming up with song ideas on the fly, especially when on the road. It is supposed to be able to store all sorts of stuff. I guess they are coming out in November?
How much dose it cost for a set of new black grover tuners like the ones on the Dime-o-Flame? Also iam not familiar with EMG's pups,
which ones would fit in the 79 ML Sliverburst and that is not active?
Well whaddaya think? Pease don't mind my crappy late night playing I usually sound better , although some megadeth fans would appreciate it

Your First Dean.
by * on Tue Sep 19, 2006 4:55 pm
i just wanted to see what everyone's first dean was, and how old they were, and what they remember about getting it.
i ordered the FBD from DrumcityGuitarland and was waiting anxiously for it, and it seemed to take forever. my mom secretly had it shipped to her work, and not the house. so she called me down to her work one day to pick up something to take to the post office for her, but when i got there , my dean was sitting in it's case. i lit up like a christmas tree. once i played it i knew i was hooked on these guitars.
FBD Floyd swap question.....again.....sorry......
Has anyone here put a real floyd in the FBD. By looking at the center to center distance on the posts it looks like it should fit correctly but I'm not sure about the thread pitch on them or if I would have to drill it out larger or what not as I have not removed it from the guitar yet. If I can drop in a real floyd I will take this guitar with me to okinawa on our next deployment otherwise I will take one with no tremelo.

Question about amp jewels and leds.
I have a peavey xxl and I want to change the red jewel to a blue one.
I have my amp taken apart right now because I had to fix a bad solder joint inside the thing. I noticed that the led behind the jewel is also red. If I buy a new Jewel (blue) will it look like crap because of the red led?
If so I will just get a blue led and solder that in there. I thought it would be a clear led behind there, that way you could change to what ever color. So will I have to change the led or will it still look good with the red led, or do you have no idea?
I just bought a blue jewel off ebay, so if I need to change the led, then it would be nice to know now so I can order a 8mm blue led.
FRET SIZE OF ML79F ???
by MrEzzyE on Wed Sep 20, 2006 7:39 am
Does it have jumbo frets, vintage ones or something else? Dimebag models (DFH & FBD) have jumbos, am I correct?
Who knows what about Agile guitars?
Anyone ever used a THD hotplate?
I heard that this could be what i am looking for as i cant have my amp up past 2 on the volume, and the louder the amp is the better it sounds apparantly. Anyway the THD hotplate is for getting the power out of the tubes at low volumes and i was wondering if anyone round here has any experience with these?
Cheers.

truss rod adjustment tips?
by BFH on Wed Sep 20, 2006 10:01 pm
Thinking my neck is very slighty bowed forward I'm gettin a bit of buzz on lower fretts etc. I thinking about adjustin the trus rod a little...This is my first truss rod adjustment so I was wondering, Anything I should know? Do I have to take the strings off? It is a floyded guitar. Its tighter for pulling the neck back and looser for letting it bow forward more right?
Which amp is better for heavy metal?
Which amp is an all around better amp?
What are the prices of the two?
Ok,
My lead guitar player just had to drop out of his position. We're gonna go on as a 4 piece, which means I have to do some leads. I happen to be a really crappy lead player, and am looking for a decent wah to somewhat mask that
Any suggestions?
SIX STRING MASTERPIECES!?!?
As I stated in this thread
http://www.deanguitars.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26100&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
These fine art works are going to auction when all is said and done. Is it possable to start a sheet here, on the forum for us commoners that won't be able to attend to state what we want and what our higest bid can be on a specific guitar? This will be for serious bidders of course!!!! Once the sheet is created and funds confirmed it can be turned over to a rep elected by us that is going to attend and hopefully fate will land one of the beauties in our hands!!!?????
I don't know--- if this is a stupid idea ignore it---- but if u think it is a good idea chime in and voice your opoinion and quite possably Dean and Elliot will hear the roar and help make it happen. I know this will have kinks to work out if it goes but the "juice is worth the squeeze!!!!" To own one of these beauties would be an HONOR!!!
Can auction programs be available to fellow DOAers that want them for keepsakes also???

Rust Razorback Here (Huge PORN)
Woo! Guitar Hangar just got ahold of me, and my Rust finally came in!
I can finally stop crying everytime I see someone else's!!!
Shipped today... so I'll get some pics up when it arrives..
Here's two pics they took of it for their website (www.guitarhangar.com)
Just hope to hell it comes in one piece!
Edit: Sept 26
It arrived! She's gorgeous! The pics are huuuge but I'm trying to capture how much these really SPARKLE.. soo much metalflake on these!
This guitar is absolutely PERFECT. Even the fretboard.. the ebony is so polished and smooth it reflects like glass.
Simply amazing. Looking at the pics, and then looking at the real thing, it's still REALLY hard to capture it on 'film'.
I was also suprised how heavy it was! This is a beefy, dangerous guitar.
I'm used to my old V... which now that I've got them side by side, I'm seriously starting to wonder if I have a custom Baby V.
DEAN GUITARS DISCUSSION/RESEARCH THREAD
by MLTC on Thu Sep 21, 2006 10:36 pm
I'm doing a research paper on Dean guitars and I want to know some public opinions on the guitar company. Now I know, going to the Dean Forum to do so is a little biased, but I want everybody to post what they love/don't love/hate about Dean guitars. In addition, any information regarding the history of the company that isn't very well known would be cool, too.
So basically this is a discussion thread about what you like and don't like about Dean Guitars. Let the discussion begin, and thanks for contributing.
Selling my new 212 for a 412
Yeah so after having my new avatar 212 (Hellatone 60Ls) for only around a month I have decided to try and sell it so I can buy a 412.
Do I need the extra speakers??? Hell No.... Would I like some extra speakers??? Hell Yes
Yeah so I am going to try and sell it for around $450. Its like new and has removable casters.
Here is the add that I am sendin to the buy and sell:
-----------------
Avatar G212H speaker cabinet. 120Watts, 8 ohm, Loaded with two hellatone 60Ls celestion speakers. Cab has black tolex, wheat grill, and removable casters. Like new, Hardly used. $450
-----------------
I paid around $550 for it so I may be able to get $450. The 412 I want is going to be around $700. And I am so going to get some more Hellatone 60L's. Incase anyone is wondering... They sound pretty sweet with my Peavey XXL. I haven't heard the original V30 so I can't compare but my rig right now sounds really heavey and low end.
Maybe go with: 2 hellatone 60Ls
2 Vintage 30 or Hellatone 60s
Think it would sound good if I threw in a classic lead 80 in place of a Vintage 30? The Hellatone 60L and classic lead 80 are quite diffrent speakers. So does it sound good when you mix completely diffrent speakers? Or does it sounds better when the sound is more focused a certain tone (like Low End, High End)?
Heres a pic of my amp right now.
dimarzio pickup questions.
by * on Fri Sep 22, 2006 3:15 am
what neck pickup would give me a blusey/hardrock/metal tone and work well with a dimarzio x2n? also, should i flip the x2n, or are they "pre flipped" like the dimebucker?
How do you remove pickup slector?
I am wanting to take off my pickup selecter but I don't know how to get it off. I have a samick avion so it is like a les paul pickup selector switch.
It has a nute type thing holding it on but the thing has a bunch of little teeth and I don't know what to use to get it off.
I just want to undo the nut so I can get rid of that stupid black circle, so I don't want to scratch the gold off the nut.
Is there a certain tool that works best for removing the pickup selector?

I need any amp right now since I sold my old one, so I think this will work for the bedroom. Is this a Century series amp? I think thats what the C stands for. Plus it looks like the C200. Comments?
Thanks funky music for the smooth transaction. And the packing of the guitar exceeded my expectations. The UPS guy left the guitar at my door, i saw him walking back to his truck. So i rushed outside and opened the guitar as fast i could to inspect for damage so i could flag his ass down if there was any. Luckily there wasn't.
On with the details...
When i ordered the guitar, i also ordered a dimebucker and Alnico II Pro (slash's neck pup). The stock pup's kicked ass, if i knew this ahead of time i would've just left them in.
Being an Ibanez 7 string player, you're used to getting 7 string Ibanez's with shitty stock pickups, so it was force of habit.
First impression... Blown away! Out of the 8 guitars i own, everyone says it looks better than the rest (Ibanez Universe, Ibanez LACS7, Ibanez RG7CT, Gibson Explorer, Dean MLF, Ibanez BTB405 Bass, and Ovation 12 String Accoustic).
Playability: I always liked my cousin's les pauls, they felt and sounded excellent, but i hated the fat chubby necks (i like thin necks, think Ibanez Wizard/Wizard II necks). The BGML sounds and plays in my opinion, better than those (for me) because the neck is so much thinner.
Comparision to MLF (Playability):
Playability is a little different, the necks are different. None is better than the other but they both kick ass. It's like banging 2 different broads in one night. You can't make up your mind, so you keep 'em both.
Comparison to MLF (Dimebucker VS BL) Bridge Position
The MLF has the B&B L500XL bridge, the BGML has the Dimebucker. They both sound real good. Interestingly enough, having the dimebucker in the string through BGML (making it fuller sounding), and the B&B L500XL on a floyded guitar (making it sound not as full), brought the sound of the two pickups real close together.
Comparison to MLF (Alnico Pro II VS '59) Neck Position
These pickups are also very similar, but i think i like the Alnico a little better. It's much more rock/bluesier sounding. Better clean tone in my opinion. Not as much attack as the '59. This pickup is EXACTLY what i've been looking for in a neck pup. The output (ear test) is probably around the same as the SD59.
Conclusion:
Both guitars kick ass, and if i had to pick one to sacrafice to a camp fire, i wouldnt be able to choose. They play differently, but both play nicely. The sounds are close, but i'm sure in certain recording situations, one would be better for the application than the other.
Pics and sound clips will be posted soon... (prolly sometime next week. Got 2 gigs this weekend).

anyone got any advice?
its the first ne that lets you set it up. (ie big knob, 3 little knobs, and boost button)
i've messed with it for a while but am having trouble getting it to where i like it.
need help with 2 things.
1) what are some pretty good settings for it
2) signal chain placement...
i put it before or after my Distortion pedal, and either way has problems... if before it doesn't seam to do a whole lot . if after it does alot to the sound but if you rock all the way back the volume drops alot also... no matter what tho the tone gets kinda sucked out when its after the pedal...
it works perfectly however infront of the amps distortion...
i think it's soemthing about putting it in the chain with the pedal... idk...

Pssst...Hey Street Team
by Deb on Fri Sep 22, 2006 10:29 pm
There's a new task waiting for you!
As some of you may know, sadly my pink ML is no longer an option. In lieu of that, I am considering a replacement. If any/all of you would be so kind and help me spark an idea, I would really appreciate your opinions on body color.
The Rules:
1. It has to be realistic; i.e. Dean guitars will do it. It does not have to be a stock color, (although their stock selection ain't so shabby!) but has to stick to Dean's shop standards in regards to materials and colors.
The Question:
If you could order your dream pointy right now, either a Time Capsule Z, V, or ML... What would it look like? Color, Binding, and Inlay...
Start with an empty canvas...
Have a friend who has just got into Paris, France. Anyone know where he can pick up a good used guitar in Paris?
Does anybody out there have the magic formula for that Time Capsule V-neck I can't live without?
Guitar strap on your ML....question
...small question for the ML players here. I'm getting some Schaller strap locks on my MLF, and I wonder...how do you guys attach your top strap? I didn't think about it till I got an ML...do you attach it like any other guitar (strat style), or do you place the button through the "top" of the hole of the strap?
It's kinda hard to describe!..if you do it like any other guitar, the strap kinda folds over itself...but if you put it through the front, it sits flush. If I put the strap locks on the strap, one will be "normal" (the bottom part of the strap) and the top will be "backward"..facing the other side, the "front" of the strap so it doesn't fold over itself.
...lol, sorry if it's confusing, just want to know if anybody knows what I'm talking about, and how they do it....thanks!
I asked a little while ago what best to use to clean some chrome hardware that was dulled and tarnished. I got a couple of suggestions for Tarn-X . However, the Tarn-X bottle clearly states that it is not to be used on Chrome. So, yes the Tarn-X is actually ok to use? or what?
I've already cleaned the chrome hardware up with some other cleaner (Mothers) that worked well but took alot of work. I'm asking now for the future if Tarn-X is actually ok to use despite the warning on the bottle.
Thanks
Hollidays, met some cool DOA'ers!
I know I haven't told many here about it, since most of the old guys are gone and I am not too familiair with all the new faces here. But I was over to Canada and the US the past two weeks. I went initially to visit Peter (Dizzy) and his wife Patty in Toronto and since he had to go way one weekend for some personal stuff he came up with the idea to lend us a car and have us drive over to Steve (TranzblueZ) and his wife Karin.
You all know Dizzy as well as Steve are very good friends of mine, and I have to say that Peter and Patty gave one helluva welcome THANX guys! same goes for Steve and Karin a BIG cheers to guys, and it was very pleasant meeting Michael (SirDennis) and Christine while in the US too a great bunch of people!
I am still blown away by everyone's hospitality and friendship, I'll try to post some pics later on but right now I am beat after been going straight for 30 hours without sleeping LOL!
anyone got pics? i googled MLXM and i saw it for sale but it had no pic

Will these knobs work with EMG pots?
Will these type of knobs work with the pots that come with EMG active pickups?
Heres the trippy ones I want to get:
I have Mother of Pearl Inlay on my Samick Avion AV7 so these knobs will match it nicely.

WOOOO LOG LIVE (gigantour)
saw LOG on Gigantour friday, damn they were awesome.
some canadian band opened, didnt really pay attention.
then overkill, they were ok, the singer talks like he sings which was hilarious (even rhymed too).
Arch Enemy was really good, dont like Angela, her vocals are meh, but a couple years ago she backed AE out of a tour with MH after saying their visas werent in order...even thought he played that New England MHF literally the night before, so im not a big fan of her, but the music is still good.
Then Opeth came on, they had a pretty good set, but didnt fit in at all, slow melodic metal between AE and LOG doesnt really go. also didnt pay attention too much as one of my buds was getting kicked out for smoking pot. so we were trying to get ahold of him and talk to security during most their set. the sound guys also sucked balls at the Congress here in Chicago, tho. the bass was too loud (especially for opeth) the guitars were muddy for pretty much everyone (LOG's wasnt too bad), and the vocals were way too low for a couple bands (could barely hear Angela).
Lamb of God were next, they frippin slayed. massive pits everywhere and a couple badass circle pits . They played for about an hour, maybe more. I got up right in front of Mark at one point, then made my way back through the smaller pits adn into the main big one, then charged back up front, there were tons of people everywhere. Played a few new songs which was cool, Walk with me in Hell, Again We Rise (awesome), Redneck, and Blacken the Cursed Sun (awesome). also played the usuals Black Label, Ruin, Ashes of the Wake, etc.
we left after LOG, lot of others were too, some of the older crowd were sitting in back (imagine they were waiting for Megadeth. kinda wish i stayed to see them, but meh no biggie, got to see the band i came for, so i was happy
(I still liked Mastodon's show better, but this was really good too, strongly recommend checking out LOG/Gigantour)
Slayer .. from Poland .. ooorr ?
You can bash these guys all you want for playing Ran Guitars,
but atleast they look like Deans and the band is awesome

Thirteenth Order (My Band)
Hey guys, just thought you might be interested in checking out my band.
We're a 4 piece thrash metal band. We're all age 15. I am the lead guitarist and I also do the tiny bit of screaming that there is in our songs. We have two mp3's up that we finally finished recording the vocals on.
We also have videos from our entire set from a show back in August that we did.
Its all on www.myspace.com/thirteenthorder.
Feedback and/or constructive criticism is very appreciated! Thanks a lot guys.

Show was great! Staind covered This Love! F'IN AWESOME! Blew out my voice screaming "NO MORE HEAD TRIPS!"... great stuff.
Aaron came out and said the next song is dedicated to the greatest guitar player ever... I had a feeling I knew who it was. When he actually started the song by saying "This is for Dime"... I knew it was on. Then they started playing the into to This Love and I thought I had died.
Best Dean used deals right now?
by Lon on Mon Sep 25, 2006 2:49 pm
My money says it's the EVO Specials. Man, they can't GIVE them away on ebay. It's crazy. I've seen nice ones go for less than $150! If I had cash I could get an EVO Premium, a Special with a hard case, and a Tevo all for a grand. Them's 3 awesome guitars right there. I just don't understand why the word never spread about the EVOs. Even the import ones are a good alternative to an LP. Not the same of course, but a damn good alternative.
Should I grab this?
by Lon on Mon Sep 25, 2006 3:56 pm
I can get this for (what I consider) relatively cheap. Whatcha think? I need to decide FAST. Not USA.
Does or has anyone have experience with the Rockman rack effects?
I acquired three units recently ,and have no clue how to get them to work. I don't see a guitar input on any of them. Any info appreciated.
no i dont have one...YET
could you post your clips of the fireball, or just a few mini reviews
do they really breathe fire?
...non Dean pron...pickups and friends
...so in SHEER anticipation, I decided to pop up some pics of my Yamaha Pacifica with it's new pickups....DiMarzios, YJM in the neck and the Fred in the bridge. Boy howdy they sound good, and now that I have my computer all set up properly I can do some sound clips in the next few days.
Eddie shows up from time to time....complains he's a stranger in a strange land, with which I agree. We usually head to the strip clubs but then he complains about chest pains and we leave for some burgers. Then he blinks away. It's kinda weird.
Get ready for some amazing Dean pron this week!!!
...here's the pickups....note how the middle single coil was removed, and a peice of plastic glued in...looks ok to me! The original neck pup was white, as was the selector switch. I dig the new look on my firstoriginal guitar!
....if you're gonna die, die with your boots on for crying out loud...
Is it X-MAS already ? (non Dean :/)
Well, hate Gibson all you want, but I've always wanted
a hot GoldTop LP, whether it be CustomShop or even
another brand, but so far everyone I've found has been
a little too much for my wallet(although I earn good money).
Anyway, I decided to go for a Goldtop after seeing this
clip with Testament
So ... after a long search I found this ...
+ hardcase
and I have yet to see one that's going for over $200

..OPERATION: BLACKED OUT MLF COMPLETE!! PRON!!
....well, it's been a looooong time coming and today I just picked up my newly modded 79 MLF.
Here's a pic of it, stock...taken last...April or May?...
....and since I couldn't leave well enough alone, in went the following mods....
Original Floyd Rose
OFR nut
(both jobs required filling and redrilling holes)
32mm OFR tremolo block (stock is 35mm)
Bill Lawrence L500 R pickup (neck position)
Bill Lawrence L500 XL pickup (bridge position)
Schaller strap locks
Dean black hardware package
Doesn't sound like much, but this summer being the Black Hole of Black Floyds (they were out of stock a long time!) it made this project quite tedious. But here's the results:
YOUR NEW GOD, LITTLE BOYS......
...here's some more quick shots....I'll put some more up in the future:
(so black you can't see it at night!!!)
..here's a nice view of the major upgrades, pups and bridge:
...some more...
..what's that?...an OFR?...you mean this?
...man, let me tell ya I'm glad that this is all done. It really plays incredibly well, and shreds all over the place! It's still the most acoustically sounding electric guitar I have.
So now I get to tell you about the sound. Of course, I'd love to tell you that those pickups are unreal, but I just....can't! I know, they're great quality and all, and I really do like the neck pickup. Clarity, great sustain in both positions.
It's the bridge, the XL. For some reason, I hit those power chords and I just don't get that BOOM that I expected to hear from this guitar. On the flip side, in the higher strings, the thing sounds GREAT. It's just that snarl that I don't 'feel' on the lower strings, when hitting those chords that sound so good on my other guitars.
I'll give it a few days, let the strings settle and such, but I'm afraid that I'm going to swap out the XL, quite possibly the R in the neck as well. I love the look, but unless I can get a sound out of it that I want, sadly, they'll have to go. Those DiMarzios I got the other day just ruined me for all other pickups!!...lol!
The low E has some buzzing on pretty much all the frets, but not open...hmm?...I'm going to raise the action on the bass side just a hair tomorrow and see what happens. Speaking of action, the trem was set up GREAT! Low action, and no buzz cept the low E string. Pullups are crazy, MUCH better than the stock trem. And solid, I whammed on that sucker for an hour and it stayed in tune. Such a relief from the stock trem!
All in all I'm very happy with this guitar, and after the pups are changed I'll continue to love it even more. I'd like to offer anybody who wants to know exactly what I did, how I did it and how much I paid (lol)...just shoot me a message. I asked a LOT of questions to get this guitar to this point and I gotta pay it back!!...or forward...you know what I'm talking bout.
I'll take some nicer picks, without some smudges...lol...all in all this is the baddest guitar I own and I'm really pleased with it. Nothing like a Dean in this world, or the next!!
If you all get a chance I would appreciate it if you would take a few moments to rate my band "Silvertung". If you hate it, then let us know, if you like or love it then tell us. Also if you want a cd there is a link to pick one up. Thanks for looking.

Metallica Sucks!
by emunder on Tue Sep 26, 2006 12:06 am
I know that them sucking is not new to everyone. The last album that I really liked was And Justice For All. The Black album was so-so. But I was just sitting here listening to an all Metallica channel on XM radio while I'm working overtime and just realized just how bad they really suck these days. James singing is just plain weak. He has lost all the edge he used to have and I was listening to some current live tracks where they were singing the Master of Puppets songs and there is no more growl to his voice and he tries to actually sing everything including all the old material. Almost like he is trying to save his voice or some sh!t. I can't even stand to listen to it. Plus all the new material is weak. I have to say that I would have no interest in seeing them live these days. I saw the Master of Puppets tour, Justice, & Black album twice in different cities and they are nothing like what they were in those days. What a shame.........

Distortion- pedal or amp?
I was just wandering what you guys thought.
I prefer amp dist. because it sounds more authentic...not so damn digital.

I find myself at a fork in the road (BG ML vs 79')
by a6equj5 on Tue Sep 26, 2006 10:32 am
I've been looking for a new guitar since I had to sell my Two-Tone Razorback due to a rough financial situation a few weeks ago.
I've got some cash saved up and am ready to buy my next guitar, but I'm having trouble deciding.
I've decided on either buying a regular 79' TBZ or a Black Gold ML. I figure if I get the 79', I can afford to replace one of the pickups right away and the other one a couple weeks later. If I were to get the BG, it'd probably stay stock for a good long while. I believe the BG has better pickups on it already though, correct me if I'm wrong...
Besides the finish, hardware, binding, headstock, are there any major differences between the two? Should I go with the 79' and start upgrading the pups or just go for the "gold"? (sorry for the bad pun)
Problem with the DFH CFH????????
What is wrong with the pick ups???? i heard a lot of people complaning about their bill lawrence. I know its a feed back problem, but what dose it sound like??? I dont know what the problem sound is. please help
check out this ibanez and dean pron here
i picked up this mini ibanez today for my daughter at sam ash for 129.oo it really plays well and the pickups sound real good to its for my 6 year old daughter.im surprized at the quality and the intonations perfect.ussually on mini guitars the playability is crap! and thats my 79 ml with real floyd and custom fretwork my baby!!

List pricing..........why?
by brn14me on Wed Sep 27, 2006 2:47 am
Maybe a dealer can help me out here.
I don't understand why with all musical gear there is a list price, a MAP price and a price that they'll actually sell you the gear for. I do understand that MAP price is, for all intents and purposes, the suggested retail price and the price you're going to pay most of the time. (unless you ask nicely) Buy why the list pricing?
Is it so the stores can advertise 40% off sale and get the uneducated consumer in the door thinking they're getting a great deal??
I was just browsing some online music stores and was curious. Any info is appreciated.

Dime V only U.S.A. made ?
Hey all, I was wondering if Dean was going to make the new Dime Razorback V as an import besides the U.S.A. model? It just seems a shame that a bad ass guitar like that will only be made available to the rich who can afford to spend $ 4,000, when all the other models have been made affordable, the way Dime wanted his models to be, affordable, even for the white trash! Any details on this?
I know he played a strat and a wah, but what did he play them through?
and was the was a dunlop crybaby (probably...)
just curious...
thanks...
T.I.S.
I just ordered a Damage Control Demonizer. I am so psyched to get this pedal. I checked it out and watched the video and was blown away by the tones you can get from it. The distortion is mind melting! I bought a Crate Power Block to run it through into my 4X12. I have been running a BOSS GT-8 into a Carvin Pre-amp which is great, but I needed some new gear and thought to go in a totaly different direction on this one. So with this setup I will come out of my wirless and tuner into my Dime wah, Damage Control Demonizer and into my BOSS NS-2 to the front of the Power Block.

Your stage set up.
by Blazer on Wed Sep 27, 2006 9:22 pm
Let's talk about our arsenal.
Guitars: I own several but my main stage instruments are
1. Refinished late eighties Cherry Red Epiphone Les Paul Custom with replacement neck and Dimarzio PAF Classic in the neck and Duncan 59 at the bridge. I hotwired the pickups straight into their volumes, the tone knobs aren't even connected.
2. 1997 Epiphone Les Paul Standard, Gold sparkle which faded into a slight yellow-ish silver, same pickup set up as my Cherry one but stock what the rest of the guitar is concerned. This one has a mellower sound than my Custom, I can actually play very convincing sounding Clapton stuff on that one.
My Pedal board:
1. Line splitter, I used that one to switch guitars.
2. Dunlop Jimi Hendrix wah. I prefer that one over the crybaby.
3. Boss Turbo overdrive.
4. Ibanez metal Charger. When I do a solo I usually kick in the overdive over the metal charger resulting in an insane sound but cool none the less.
5. Boss Chorus ensemble. For the ballads.
6. Boss Digital delay, another one for long wailing solos.
7. Boss octaver
8. Ibanez Bass synth. "Aaah the name would be Bootsy baby!"
Amp:
Peavey Classic 50. I couldn't do without it.

...thoughts on amp's, distortion, solid states, tubes...
....so I'm still tweaking around with the MLF and it's BnB pups....and becoming more used to it's tonal characteristics. Then for some reason, while wondering how to get the metal monster out of it, I thought...hmm...
...plugged my 25 watt Fender solid state practice amp output to my 2 ten inch Marshall cabinet. Plugged in the ML.
...now, the tone was what maybe considered a lil 'cheesy', but it sure did a more realistic Dime distortion than what my 100 watt JSX could!....which got me to thinking perhaps to get that nasty metal searing tone I should really take it downtown to the guitar shop and plug into some serious solid state amps!
THEN, I plug my other guitars into the JSX which had it's settings based on the ML....and it sounded great!...just like a max shred but with all the articulation I'd want.
MAN, just when you think you know something about guitars and tone....I truly have a new understanding about how not only amps but pickups AND amp have on your tones!....and was I ever smiling when I heard that 500 XL rip through that simple solid state get up!....perhaps I'll even give distortion pedals a try just to see how they sound through the immaculate JSX clean channel. I do enjoy the JSX distortion channels, but for modern metal tones, and even Dime tones, the max distortion on it (while still good) doesn't get that sizzle I'm looking for. Not worth selling the amp, mind you, just different.

Looking for a cheap combo. Any thoughts on the Hughes and Kettner Edition Blu 60 combo? Anything better at the $200 mark?
Just for practice and messing around.
My buddy runs open mic night... Warning BLS content.
In This River live... Not their best performance of it, but against his wishes I posted it for you guys..
Regardless of your BLS opinions, let's keep it constructive.

i just wanna get a closer look
I BOUGHT THIS OFF MY FRIEND FOR $200, AND I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN, THIS PIC WAS TAKEN AT A HASH PARTY AND THE PHOTOGRAPHER WAS SEEING TRIPPLE, THE GEET IS GOING THROUGH SOME RENOVATIONS AND WILL BE COMPLETE IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS I'M GOING TO GET SOME EMGS AND A FLOYD ROSE, I PUT THE ACCUTUNE ON MY SG COPY
You SONS-A-BIYATCHES WANT SOME GAIN??????
For gods sake!!!! I didn't know what I was getting into. My package arrived today with this inside!!!!!
I hooked it up to my Crate Power Block with my BOSS NS-2 to control any extra noise and my Dimebag Wah into my Peavey 4X12.
Goooooood Googly Moogly, which is short for HOLY frippin s#%t!!!! I have never heard tone like this before. Everything I have ever heard or played on instantly became inferior. The tone is unreal and even with the Gain all the way up and the optical compression on full you can hear individual notes perfectly. That is with the Nuclear engaged. Turn off the Nuclear and the gain rolls back to blusey, rocking bliss.
I was running my BOSS GT-8 into a Carvin power amp before today. This with the power block just decimates all. I ran through a few songs that are on my play list for tomorrow night and popped a damn boner! I am still going to pack the normal rig in the trailer just in case, but I am going to use this from now on. I have to save for another one as a back up. Yeah it's that good.
I was poking around the Marty Friedman site when I came across a pic of a Trans-Brazilburst ML(with some wierd switches I moght add) in his gear section http://www.martyfriedman.com/media_gallery_detail.php?id=8
He's with Ibanez right now, but it would be awesome if he came to the best guitar company in the world(Dean duh)!!!!
My guitar playing is stuck in a rut ...any advice?!
How thick are the '79 MLs ?
I was just wonderng, since I've been thinking
about getting one of these and Floyd it
'cause I have yet to see one that comes with a Floyd stock
Has anyone ever used these? They would realy clean up a headstock. 40:1 ratio, WOW.

I bought my first real Gibson
by Blazer on Sat Sep 30, 2006 8:25 pm
I owned a lot of Epiphones over the years, to wet my appatite for the big G I would buy someday.
And that Day finally came I made myself the owner of a 1993 Gibson Nighthawk 600 Euro, case included.
Who here has owned a Dean guitar the longest?
I know in the collector car market, there is a certain factor mostly with people who are original owners of cars that take pride in owning a car for the longest consecutive period of time. I would think someone here on the board bought a Dean new and still has it. Or bought one years ago and still have it. I realized today I have owned my red 81 ML standard for over 13 years now. Knowing I've owned it half of its life and I will never sell it, those years will only continue to mount up.
So who else here has owned one for a long time? Kinda curious to see which one of us has the longest ownership, especially someone who has a "one owner" guitar.
...general noise, wah pedals...
Well, still tinkering around with the 500XL pickups in the MLF. I still have to go through the low gain input or else the amp whistles away , even 5 feet away. I started to wonder if it was the pups, or what...but with the gain cranked, if I'm too close to the JSX it demonstrates that same whistle.
I just keep thinking it's that thing with the CFH guitars, but I could clearly see wax on the pups before they were installed. I think it's not just as simple as plugging in and going for it....
...does anybody have some advice on this? As far as getting a good sound, it's coming along...I'm definitely going to try new pups in my 666 MLF when it arrives, just to see if that makes a difference.
And my Crybaby, well, if it's too close to the amp, it feedsback pretty nasty. Is this normal? Mainly only happens with the pedal fully forward, for the highs. While I'm playing it's not so bad...and NO way does the wah work without whistling if I plug in through the high output! ...speaking of which, are active EMG style pups 'that' much higher in output than your high ouput passive pups, like the Bill Lawrence XLs?
If I just have to get used to it, and if you've experienced this, let me know please....just getting a bit frustrated!
