ok so you guys know i bought tickets to see BLS here in anaheim on the 3rd.
well get this. today they put up on their myspace a code to get tickets for 20 bucks a pop. i paid 35 each for 2. i could have saved 30 bucks had i procrastinated.
i emailed them on myspace and told em i think this sucks.
talk about a slap in the face huh?
zakk hates me
My Valveking ain't takin pedals too well... either that, or I just prefer it au natural, but this is what I was attempting to figure out, so while my equipment at work is reaching it's desirable testing temprature, I done me some Effects Loop research. I was positive that these pedals shouldn't make it sound WORSE...
Mister P.V Valveking apparently has a Buffered FX Loop. I was checking to see if it was series or parallel, but it just says buffered. I Googled it for about half an hour but nada, only results I got were finding out that the Krank Mini Rev1 comes with the same breed of loop. Looking around this place, I've found people refer to Tube Buffered effects loop, so using my head I went and researched them.
I found somewhere that a poorly designed Tube Buffered effects loop will 'more readily corrupt the signal'. So, baring in mind that the VK is a cheap amp (in comparison to others) I've come to the conclusion that they probably ship with a fairly comprimised loop.
Here's some specs that are alien to me.
Effects Send:
Low Impedence: High-Z 68kΩ or Greater
Nominal Output Level: 0dBV, 1.0v (rms)
Effects Return:
Impedence: Very High-Z 22kΩ or Greater
Designed Input Level: 0dBV, 1.0v (rms)
At high volumes, I've had zero success with a BBE Sonic Stomp*, a CS-3 Compressor Sustainer and a 15 band EQ through the loop, with the BBE and Compressor both cutting gain and dulling down my sound, and the EQ just adding a thick slab of uncontrollable booming bottom.
I never found out if it's series or parallel, or whether buffered is simply the third option.
So I got that far. Does that diagnosis sound good?
*It actually sounds worse infront of the amp than in the loop.
Holy crap! A locking NON tremolo
by * on Mon Oct 01, 2007 10:53 am
from the kevin bond signature rhoads. locking nut and bridge with fine tuners, which i assume will hold tuning just as good ad the tremolo. who makes this and where do i get one?
Japanese Hardtails are landing
The shop, Machine Head Music, says they're getting 5 more. Very well priced at £999.99, probably with a bit of 'wiggle room'. Comes with Tone Pros bridge and Seymour Duncans. They're coming in cheaper than Japanese ESP's.
ok i realize LP's are not deans... DUH. but i do have a question. Ok, i know nothing about gibsons and whatnot but i have played a few LP's and some of them have a really high bridge and then some are really comfortable, whats the difference? other than the bridge. are the bodys different?
Im lookin for a new NON-FLOYDED Ml, I Dont have much money, 650is the max ill spend. What do u guys thing is the best value, i was thinkin a 79. I need a non floyded guitar for drop tunings, its alot easier
How important is it to write riffs/songs in specific key signatures?
Do any of you just come up with stuff that doesn't fall into any keys or strict theoretical stuff? And if a riff is written in a particular key, would it be wrong to change the key further on in a song?
We have a new song up!

Modifying my USA Fender Strat, input needed
by Blazer on Mon Oct 01, 2007 9:55 pm
This is how it looks, although I already swapped this neck for an all maple neck. I filled up the back cavity so that the trem goes downwards only. But to cover up that modification (in more ways) I decided to give it a contrast stripe.
This is what I had in mind.
What do you guys think, shall I go for it?
Problems with G strings (NO JOKES PLEASE!!!)
The G strings on both my ML 79 and my new Washy dont ring out correctly, i thought i might try a different brand of string, but ive found out all 3 of my guitars have D'Addarios (the G string on the DFH doesnt do it). Its hard to explain the problem, its like something is touching the string slightly and is stopping it ringing correctly, kinda like a slight mute, idk what could be causing it, the trem is setup correctly on both, truss rod is set ok, the string isnt touching fretboard, im clueless
the only thing i can think of is how ive strung them. ive strung them both so that the ballends are in the tuners, instead of clipping them off, i dont see how that could cause it but thats the only thing different from the strings on the DFH
anyone have any idea what i can do to fix this problem?
New used B.C. Rich USA Warlock (obvious NDC)
by flah on Mon Oct 01, 2007 11:27 pm
I've been wanting a USA built B.C. Rich Warlock, ever since I missed a few brand new ones on E-Bay a few years ago going for around $1200.
So I saw this on one E-Bay a few weeks ago and bid to win......
First off, I've owned literally dozens of high end guitars from pretty much every company, from Fender, Gibson, PRS, ESP, Jackson, Charvel, Parker, Hamer, Dean (duh), Ibanez..... probably a few more that I can't remember.......
While I've owned a lot of set neck and bolt ons, this is only the second neck through guitar I've ever owned. And check out the heel, it's beautifully sculpted and gives you insane upper fret access (second only to the Parker heel):
I gotta say though, this neck plays really really well. It's a fairly large neck, maybe the size of the Gibson Les Paul 50s size. And the fingerboard radius is maybe 10 or 12 inches, which I really like. Frets are pretty big, I'm guessing they're 6100s. It's a great neck. All maple, with an ebony fretboard and alder body wings.
With the alder body wings, the guitar is relatively lightweight - I'm guessing low 8 pound range. It does a little bit of neck dive, but nothing that I can't deal with. The strap button location is decent, and I don't think there's much you can do about the neck dive.
The Floyd Rose original trem is great. It stays in tune perfectly, as opposed to some licensed Floyds and Kahlers that I've owned. Feels great too.
Tone wise, I honestly can't say that I hear a huge difference in tone attributed to neck through vs. set necks or even bolt ons. Of course, with a guitar like this I primarily play with insane amounts of gain, with 11s, tuned down to drop B, so that alone plays a LARGE part in the tone.
In all, this is an incredible guitar. But warning - according to the dudes on the B.C. Rich board, this guitar isn't totally made in the U.S. It seems that the woodwork is done in Tijuana on the Mexican side, but the rest is done here in the U.S. But don't let that fool you, the workmanship on this guitar is top notch. It ranks right up there with my USA Time Capsule V. Hopefully I'll get a chance to shoot a video real soon.
Hey can anyone photoshop me a vmnt with a razorback headstock and a kahler?
C Standard String question
im about to string up my TLT with 9-50 DR's which ive been playing for a while now, ive always used them in drop D and Standard nothing below, should the tension work alright in C standard?
alright lol... well... my D string ALWAYS breaks at the bridge and people have told me to get a set up.... the nearest place i can take my guitar to get a setup is in Denver which is almost 2 hours away.. so tonight when the d string broke for the 20th time i got pissed and thought id do a noob setup myself .. now dont completely own me here cos im a total noob at guitar tech but are the saddles on a floyd supposed to line up with eachother or be in different places? when i bought it they were all at diff places but i thought if i lined em up the d string will stop being a bitch... so i lined em up and i dont notice any difference right now but... did i do the right thing? does it even matter at all? sorry for the noobness.. everyones gotta learn sometime ey?
tried out some different guitar picks today. review.
by * on Tue Oct 02, 2007 7:12 am
my normal pick is the Green Dunlop tortex pick (.88mm), but i seem to collect random picks from places somehow, so i thought i'd try them out just for fun.
first on the block, the big stubby by dunlop
this pick is 2MM thick but tapers to a thinner point(though still thicker than your standard pick, unless you use one about 1mm or thicker.
it has an indention on either side, and feels quite solid when you lock your thumb and the knuckle of your index in there, but overall this pick seemed too chunky and awkward for comfort, i just couldn't get it to feel right in my hands. Playing wise, it was alright but had more "snag" than i am used too, which threw me off.
Next is the In Tune Guitar Picks Delrin GrippX.
i got this guitar pick from Rob Arnold of Chimaira during their 05 stint with danzig, it has a pretty awesome logo on it, poking fun of metallica(the black album cover but the logo says chimaira)
i liked this pick A LOT. moreso than the dunlop tortex, actually, it's the same thickness, yet seems much more stout than the tortex is, it's got a lot less "play" in it which seemed to have a slight impact on my hand/hand coordination. i'm gonna look into purchasing some of these picks.
next is not a pick at all, but what the heck.
a $5 mexican peso. it's a little bigger than a quarter, and lacks it's rough edges. i'd say it is rougly 2mm thick. i decided to try this because i once read an article where billy gibbons talked about using pesos because they had a much nicer sound than a quarter, HE WAS RIGHT. it actually sounded pretty darn good, and felt less awkward than the big stubby. it had a unique sound, and though i wouldn't use it as a primary picking method, i recommend it to anyone that has one laying around, just to try.
lastly is a guitar center pick which is made of(though this is just a guess) of the same material as the fender california clears, i think. anyway, this picture is all i have to say about these picks, and no i wasn't doing it very hard, either.
the intune delrin is definitely my new favorite pick.
Yamaha NS-10 near field monitors

I'm interested in Yamaha NS-10M near field monitors because obviously they're basically in almost every studio picture i've ever seen in my life. Are they really that good or should i consider something else? Any experiences and opinions are more than welcome! Tnx

by Hotrat on Tue Oct 02, 2007 4:19 pm
OK so I was in GC the last night looking for a specific amp. Well they didnt have it and I saw these sitting there and since I had brought my Z I figured Id give it a shot with my guitar instead of using one of GCs not very well set up guitars. I have played these a bunch of times before and could never understand why so many people were raving about them. Well once I had about 45 minutes to sit down and play with it I discovered that everyone was right. These are great sounding little amps. So I grabbed one. At under $100 it just cant be beat.
The weather is a bit cloudy so pics didnt come out the greatest but heres a few of the Z too
Nice looking Tropical on the 'bay.
There's a nice looking tropical MLF on ebay if anyone is interested.
only $300. The flame looks very good for a tropical. I've been looking for a trop. ML but I allready have a 79MLF in Braziliaburst.
Doesn't look bad for the price.

Never gonna bash the XXX again. **Review**
I just got an XXX 60 watt 1X12 combo from Gear-Monkey here on the forums. I needed a compact amp for traveling and my 6505+ halfstack was becoming a pain to lug around. It arrived today. I am friggin' floored! I don't know why I didn't like the one I tried 7 months ago? Could have been the damn GC sales guy standing over me.... Anyway, I love the fact that the Crunch channel has enough gain for metal so I can use the Ultra channel as a dedicated lead channel. The clean channel is pretty good with lots of headroom. The Crunch and Ultra channels have a great voicing and all have seperate volume controls. Definately a metal amp through and through. This model is 60 watts, which I think Peavey doesn't make any more. They make a 40 watt version now, but I have not tried that one. The effects loop on this amp is adjustable on the input and output sides. You can also engage the effects loop and pad the volume so it will act like another volume boost. There is a line out which Peavey says is after the power section so you can send a post power amp line level signal to another power amp that won't alter the tone that you shape in the eq. The speaker is a single 12" Sheffield and pumps hard. This amp will produce a lot of sound from a small package. If that isn't enough you can unplug the speaker from the rear. It is plugged into one of two parallel 1/4" inputs. So you can use this as a 60 watt head to a 4X12 or 2X12 cab. I havn't tried it into my 6505 cab yet but that is soon to come. Resonance can be contolled via a 3-way switch on the rear. Settings are Loose, Med and Tight. The amp is heavy. 60lbs to be exact, so you may want to get wheels. I ordered an ATA flight case from Island Cases to protect this bad boy on the road. I am going to tweak the eq tomorrow night at rehersal and then it's going to go on the road with me this week. I can't wait. All of our gear goes behind our banners, so no one will know I don't have a stack.. LOL Yet again Peavey smacks a grand slam!!!!

How awesome are these Razorbacks?
Need some questions answered about the Dean VENDETTA REVENGE
I've noticed this guitar is quite a bit cheaper than other Dean models like the Razorback & DFH (I personally have bought 2 RBs and a DFH myself, and my first guitar was a MLX Braziliaburst), so I'm trying to get the scoop on it.
What kind of neck does it have? V, C, D, etc?
Is it bolt on?
No dealers in my area have this guitar, and I'm not about to just order it on a whim.
Promised a buddy of mine I'd get him 1 guitar on the Dean catalog, as long as it wasn't one of those 3000 dollar USA made limited models... lol... Christmas comes early for bad kids.
whats up yall, i just saw MachineHead last night in chicago(i hated chicago lol) but it was a great show and i LOVE the harmonics that they use, does anybody know what kind of pickups they use? i googled it and i cant find anything.

I just picked up the latest Line 6 POD X3 to replace my POD 2.0.
I spent about 45 mins in the shop just playing with the presets alone, theyre awesome! A lot of them are named after a particular song, and some are just fantastic. The "Every Breath You Take" preset... Mmmmmm, I could have never taken it off that. Wonderful. Even through a crappy 15watt marshall cheap and nasty amp, this thing rocked!
I think these only came out in the last couple of weeks, and I havent found any reviews. Im off to deconstruct it now and will be back later with a more full-on review.
Heres a link in the meantime: http://line6.com/podx3/index.html

Well, finally...
Full frontal
Close ups
It's my first REAL Floyd Rose and U.S.A guitar
Time for the Rear...
^ That allen key holder is quite useful...
I think the neck joint on a KV2 is a beautiful piece of work.
The thing plays like a dream, I couldn't be more please with it, especially for the price. I would never have though that a decent ebony board would make such a difference, it's so smooth, it feels so nice to do bends on.
Floyd is great, it stays in tune properly all the time.
I love the frets as well, tall and very thin, I just prefer them like that, I think when the frets are too wide it kinda makes the guitar look a bit like a toy. The neck also has a great profile definitely a thin D shape, it fells great to have a flatness at the edge of the neck, compared to my LTD where the edge is a bit sharp.
This guitar kicks major a ss!
Dean razorback soft case?
I recently bought a Dime explosion and other than the fact that i love it and its sikkk the case it came with is huuuuge. Like you could fit a person in it!! Id be willing to order a soft case for it so does anybody no any shops that could help me out??

whats crazy is only about 300 people showed up. i live in anaheim california. home to disneyland, the stanley cup champion ducks, and possibly, the next world series champs. but we couldnt get more than 300ish people to see black label society. crazy huh?
bls was ok i guess, bls fans wierd me out a lil.
hung out with edsel dope though. dude is super excited about his custom rebel dean that is coming next week to him. he wouldnt tell me more than that.
he said virus is "unleashed" on the next album and its going to be more metal with more solo's. aparently he said virus is capable of way more than people hear him play on the current dope material.
back to bls. zakk was cool. but nick cataneese is a guy who i think truly stole the show for me. the shot to hell guitar looked AMAZING. that guy right there is amazed hes a rock star. it shows all over his face.
anyway, that was my bls show trip, ill post more later =p

Spider Valve Quick Review
So we got a 1x12 40 watt Spider Valve in today at Sam Ash. The initial apperance is more boutique then the reg. spider with its metal faceplate and leather carrying handle. Its a bit taller and skinnier than pervious models also. The led fires up a very cool blue color and the effects led's are yellow. They added a prescence knob next to the master volume so you could get a lil more of that top end sizzle if needed. So how are the sounds you say... theyre pretty damn good sounding. The tubes add a nice velvet touch to how all of the amp models previously sounded. On the gain channels it puts a Bogner style gain structure over the initial design (go figure) making it a bit more crunchy then what your normally used to. The harmonics are much nicer on this amp and over all its just sounds more organic and beefy than what they previously had to offer. Did I mention this thing is friggin loud... holy shite. The whole store was full of sound with the amp up a lil past 3. Overall Id say its a nice step up for line 6. This amp will finally cut through the mix of a band in a live situation unlike most previous models. Id say its worth the coin.
Some dudes don't like Zakk Wylde. But the dude can play.

Coolest Dean Ever, that I never knew existed
A USA Razorback with the DFH paintjob. Pretty nice I must say, Samash has them for 6 grand.
I know I've seen one member with a DFH paintjob but I don't think it came that way, and looked cool because it had silver bevels.
As for me, I'm looking forward to being old enough to work this summer when I actually have time and saving up for an import Two-Tone.

80s Shredders - where are they now?
by flah on Fri Oct 05, 2007 7:29 pm
Marty Friedman - playing guitar in Japan
Jason Becker - battling ALS and releasing material
Michael Lee Firkins - ?
Tony MacAlpine - backing Steve Vai
Greg Howe - ?, backing 98 Degrees or something a few years back, playing fusion?
Michael Angelo - still releasing solo records
Vinnie Moore - ?
Larry Mitchell - ?
Joey Tafolla - ?
Andy Timmons - still releasing solo stuff
Paul Gilbert - still releasing solo stuff
David T. Chastain - ?
Can anyone fill stuff in? And did I forget any of those significant Shrapnel/Mike Varney type guys (i.e. more solo shredders, not guys in bands like Nuno, etc. - and yeah, I know Timmons was in Danger Danger)?

After seeing this video Halen sounds as good as ever...IMO. Roth actual sounds better than he did back in the day…the only thing lacking here is the old school energy. I’d love to have seen Anthony in the mix but it is what it is…wish there was a show in Tampa or Orlando.

starting a building project, any tips?
ive decided im going to turn my warhead combo into an amp head (sorry dale, its no longer for sale ) im planning on building a new 'shell' from scratch, been doing lots of planning and measuring today. been throwing lots of different designs around, and have decided im going to do a similar design to that of the top half of the combo, just gonna make it bigger heightwise and not as deep, i was just wondering if their is any particular wood i should use to make it out of? im guessing not, but ive never built anything before so im a bit n00bish lol also does anyone know where i can buy the black tube stuff that goes around the edges of the wood? ive found a good website where i can order tolex, but i dunno where to get the tube stuff
EDIT: btw my RG100ES is for sale, im getting a new head next week and dont have enough room for three so its gotta go, p.m me offers if your interested
EDIT 2: my final designs, i cant draw lol so their a bit sketchy

It has the shape, but I thought an ML was flat, not a 'curved top' like this one.
Or is he right?
Warning! Dutch site, but just look at the pics

Machine Head CHICAGO show
does anybody remember the setlist from machine heads last HOB in chicago? there is a song i cant remember and i really want to find and learn it, the main riff had like this really fast crazy harmonic sht and i cant remember the song
anyone know where i can find a good tab for this song
I finally played my first dean
played my first dean today! Dean Shadow ML. Pretty much the dime o flame, all black, razorback inlays. It had a nice hefty weight to it which i liked. and it felt nice to play, i liked the neck and how it felt down by my picking hand, kind alike my iceman
anyways i was kinda rushed and it was kinda outta tune, but for the 10 minutes i played it i just attemped dime squeals through a 6505+ fullstack. THere much trickier to do then they appear, i on;y got like 2 good ones outta the 100+ attemps i made. Im deffinently gonna have to try it again
also i liked the traction knobs haha
when are the new deans for 08 going to be announced?
when are we going to get a sneak peek at the new batch of deans for 08?
and do i have wait for 08 for that?
like i just search and search the internet for any rumors ahahahha
i just want to know.
is there any special announcement to look for?
do we have to wait for namm?
like i just wanna see pics!
of new deans!
today!
Do you ever get GAS for an LP? NDC
Well... I do! Ever six months or so. I end up checking all the local maw and paw shops for one that "speaks" to me and I usually find myself handing over the old Amex and taking one home....
I recently played a friends Heritage H-150 CM. If you know anything about Heritage.... these are THE GUYS who built some of the most amazing axes for Gibsons back in the day. You know.... the ones that carry insane price tags and in some cases... priceless.
Needless to say, I was so impressed with the build quality and tone of the guitar that I sought out an old friend from the board.... remember Dave from Guitar Adoptions? YEP... he happens to be a Heritage dealer and hooked me up with one amazing example from the Heritage factory (which may be closing )
This is what a Lester should sound and feel like! WOW! I only wish I discovered them a bit sooner...
Enjoy the pics... thought I would share!
H-150CM Ultra - Nicknamed STITCHES due to the two unique scars in the maple top below the tail piece.
Dime Shadow ML or ML79 w/Floyd?
I'm thinking about getting a new Dean but I'm unsure on which to get. Originally I thought of getting a ML79 w/ Floyd Rose and putting a Dimebucker in it. But after seeing the Dime Shadow, I have no idea which to go for. Anyone know the differences or anything between these guitars?
I found this on the site of a Chinese guitar manufacturer that also makes "USA" Gibsons , Fender, Ibanez, Jackson, one Dean model,....
They all look amazing (especially for the 300 $ they charge), but if you know the guitars, you'll see some flaws.
Like this: I didn't know ML's had a stoptail bridge....

Randy Rhoads film released in 2008
by MAB on Sat Oct 06, 2007 4:03 pm
Dakota Pictures and director Peter Margolis are releasing a major film documentary about Randy Rhoads. I was honored to be a part of this. Here is what director Peter Margolis had to say about the performance and interview in the movie to be released in 2008.
---------------------------
Last Saturday I was honored to be able to spend 10 hours filming two performance pieces and an interview with Michael Angelo Batio. We arrived at the studio at noon. Michael arrived on time and with his guitar tech ready to work. He was extremely accommodating and kind and polite and happy to be a part of this film. We shot 14 takes of his performance as I manipulated the camera in every conceivable position to properly photograph this event. He never once complained and replicated his tribute to Randy with 100% perfect accuracy every time. My respect level for him rose exponentially as the day progressed. Not only is he probably the most technically gifted hard rock/ heavy metal guitarist I have ever witnessed up close, he is equally adept at many other styles of guitar as he played anything and everything for the crew between takes. Then to top it off, after a grueling day of filming he sat down for a candid interview. He was articulate and passionate about how Randy affected the path he chose with the guitar. This interview was a highlight for me and I am certain will be for the viewers of the film.

cranking up a marshall at home?
So i want to run my marshall head hotter by turning up the volume and still maintain a decent volume level for playing in my house, im looking into getting a hotplate or some other attenuator but im not keen on them changing my tone plus theyre pretty expensive even on ebay.
would i be able to simply buy second hand cab and disconnect all but one speaker and just run the head through the single speaker or would it just blow? im sure it could be done but i dont really know all that much when it comes to speakers and that side of things.
cheers
a few weeks ago when i went to guitar center i went to the used guitar rack and i saw a "star" shaped guitar. i dont exactly remember what brand it was but i think it was Esp.... it had a floyd, real kool inlays, dark bluish grayish body and a set neck and it was only like 350 dollars! im tryin to find a pic of it or see if anything similar to that is on ebay. the question: what is an esp "star"'s real name? as in what are they called if you were searching the web..
thanx guys.
Recommend some strings!!!
Recommend some strings!!!
I know...I know....'use the search feature, this has been done before'.
But this is a little different, I want string recommendations for me! Not what you're using So don't say 'My 9's with no ball for the trem are the best!'.
I use DR Strings and I'm happy with them. But once every few years, I like to pick a piece of gear and re-evalute my choices. It's time to re-evaluate my string choice.
I use 10's standard gauge, no tremelo and I use standard tuning.
Tell me what's good and I'll pick up a set and put them on a guitar!
custom parts for deans, where?
hey all, anybody know where I could find: replacment/custom parts for Deans (such as back plates, knobs, switches, ect.) like ones that other companies make, and exact parts from Dean. Thanks guys.
Best DVD to learn how to play for Begginers
A buddy of mine wants to learn guitar and he just got a '79 ML second hand (lucky bastard) and really wants to learn how to play however there are some difficulties:
1.due to a current financial situation lessons are out of the question
2.none of his friends play thus they cant teach him
3.im moving in 2 days time so i can't teach him
so.......this leads me to my point: what do you guys feel is the best DVD to learn how to play, decentely priced, and above all a GOOD dvd that teaches the fundamentals and basics. I really dont know so I figured I ask you guys. Thanks a whole bunch!
Can someone please post some? I can't find them anywhere. I'm looking for some for my friend because he is without internet and he's wanting to put together some ideas for a tattoo.

Time Capsule Zs price question
I've seen their prices go from 1,500/1,800 to 3,000 and up
I haven't seen the specs for any of them so I couldn't tell the difference from that but are there different Time Capsule guitars that cost a lot more than others ?
now i know this is a dean forum, and everybody knows everything about deans, but only some might be able to help me out with my question.
i recently bought a jackson RR3, but i'm not really having a good time with the jackson stock floyd rose that came in it. i really enjoyed the one in my dime-o-flame, it was setup perfectly and never seemed to go out of tune.
so i've been thinking of replacing it with an original floyd, but i wasn't sure if it would work due to the fact that the jackson floyds are built differently, i don't know if an original floyd would be able to fit in there or not....
anybody have a clue if this would work or not?
MEGADETH need I say more? My favorite band for the past 10 years and I finally saw them in Norfolk at the Norva. I was second row the whole time. The whole band was in-fu ckin-credible. the show was amazing and seeing my guitar god shredding a mere 5 ft in front of me was amazing. I also met a fellow forum member, VMNTman77. He was a super cool dude to talk too and I hope he had as much fun at the show as I did. the setlist was,
Sleepwalker
Take No Prisoners
Wake Up Dead
Skin O' My Teeth
Washington is Next!
Kick the Chair

Gears of War
A Tout Le Monde
Tornado of Souls

I've been checking this out for a while, does anyone here have one?? And does anyone know if it comes with all the cables as well? I have my Furman Powered Board for my guitar stuff, and I was thinking about using it for my bass stuff as well (Since now I am playing bass with my band), BUT, I dont have that many pedals to justify using the bigger furman board. So I'm either going to make a board, or just buy a small power-less one.

new old guitar day (w/ pron)
by damigu on Mon Oct 08, 2007 12:35 am
i love the bel aire design.
i may have mentioned that once or twice before.
anyway, ijenkch put up his for sale the other week and she just showed up at my door this past week.
it's my new old guitar!
frets and neck are in excellent shape--as is pretty much everything but the volume pot (little scratchy, but all i need it for is on and off anyway!)--and plays as excellently as my other bel aire.
i have some mods planned for her at some undetermined point in the future (including a refinish, since i'm not so crazy about animal prints!).
when i get started on any mods--probably not until next year at the earliest--i'll keep you bums apprised with pron.
but for now i'm going to just enjoy her as she is.
haven't decided what tuning i'll keep her in. any suggestions?

Just for clicking on this link and closing the window. http://www.punkradiocast.com/TOP10.php?vote=6519 That simple.
That will automatically place a vote for my band. A 3 second operation. No need to press vote on the page or even really wait for it to load. Oh yeah and do it every day till Sunday.
You can pick your FREE BBQ Dinner up at:
KC's Rib Shack, 837 Second Street Manchester NH. Just walk in and say I voted Rezidudes. Sorry. Needed a bump. But I'm serious out the Dinner.
ORIGINAL POST
Dean Brothers, I need your help. My band The Rezidudes CD "Welocome to the Suck" was released worldwide on Locomotive Records about 2 months ago. It has been doing very well and gotten a bunch of great reviews on various web pages and zines throughout the US.
I am stoked to as hell tell you that one of the songs from the CD our cover of Paul Simons "The Boxer" was #27 this week on the Punk Radiocast Top 40. Punk Radio Cast ( punkradiocast.com ) is the worlds largest, punk internet radio station. They have a listenership of thousands of people a day. Every Sunday Night they have a Top 40 countdown for three hours from 7 - 10 and this week we were voted as I said #27.
In order to stay on the Top 40 as well as in rotation 24/7 on the station I need people to vote for us. If we can get into the top 5 we will make it into the bi weekly top 5 podcast and if we can get to #1 (which last week was 224 votes so it's not out of reach) our CD will get featured on the front page of Interpunk.com as well as put into high rotation on the radio station.
You can only vote once a day but can vote everyday. It will only takes 20 seconds to click on this link everyday or as often as possible and click on vote next to The Rezidudes "The Boxer". Please help us with this and try to remember to vote often for the next week. This could really help us get some some notoriety as well as CD sales. Thanks, Please Vote. And remember to vote daily. A huge thanks for the help. Kevin

Guitar Strings(gauge question)
by visi0nX on Tue Oct 09, 2007 5:49 am
I have a Dime FBD Tribute guitar and i play in C standard tuning. I read in the other guitar strings thread that Dean Markley Blue Steel was good but thats what i currently use and honestly they sound worse than what i was originally using defaulted on the guitar.
Maybe it was something with the wrong gauge, When i play the low chords i get like a little Metal-y sound(not in the good heavy metal type way)when i play an open note, it's kind of annoying. My strings don't touch the frets either(at least when I'm not pressing down on notes, haven't checked otherwise). I'm thinkin maybe since im tuned so low when i play an open note my strings vibrate hit onto the frets or something. I don't remember which gauge set i got but I'm not familiar with what gauge is good for C standard tuning.
Need help from the EMG users.
I finally put my EMG's in the RB/TLTMLF and the nut for the input jack is chrome. As you know the MLF has all black hardware and with the silver nut it just doesn't look right IMHO.
I've contacted EMG via e-mail and they said look for it in all-parts. I can't find it there and don't know where else to look because the hardware stores in this small town su ck.
Does anyone know where to locate deez nuts.
During the pickup change I also polished the frets the same way I did my '79. I highly recommend it!! She plays alot faster and smoother.
I LOVE THIS GUITAR!!!
Thanks.
- Eric.
Hi! I need the mxr 6 band graphic eq schematics and/or (more important) the details of the mods...in particular: led, switch on/off and extarnal alimentation (is that right? i can't foind the right engliash term...).
Very important to me...my mxr makes great noise and within a couple of days i'll take it to a friend of mine that is skill in those things. he needs those kind of things

Reading through some other posts...
...I was actually errrm shocked by the way people have been dividing themselves; either by liking Dimebag, OR Phil.
Errr basically what the %$#@! is this all about and why is everyone cussing up on 'Dimesheep'? I think Dimebag wanted to have signature guitars/amps/pedals etc so that his fans would actually buy them.
Need some help choosing a 7 string....
Basicaaalllly, I've come to the conclusion that I need to buy a 7 string. For months I've had my ESP tuned to G# and I love all the lows I get from the rythmn. But I really miss all those high annoying squeals I used to be able to do in standard. So yeah it's time I saved up for a 7 string.
My first option is to customize a Ran
www.ranguitars.com
Second option is an Ibanez RG1527RB
http://www.samash.com/catalog/imagepop.asp?img=lg_IRG1527RB.JPG
Third Option is urrrr well that's it for now, I'm really stuck and can't seem to find any decent 7 strings. Bare in mind I'm not after a signature model, and I want 24 frets, w/ tremolo.
If anyone could help me out or show me some other good models from any make it would really help me out.[/img]

Karsect Wireless
by Typhaon on Tue Oct 09, 2007 5:49 pm
My friend gave me a guitar wireless system for $20 bucks good deal huh? the only problem is he didnt have the cable to attach the transmitter to the instrument. Its a Karsect wireless system, Chinese company i think, it's cheaper but it works real nice since i've seen it in action. The problem is the cable is very hard to find. You'd have to buy another wireless system to get one. It's basically a standard 1/4" input to 1/8" input with the 1/8" obviously going in to the transmitter. But the 1/8" input is designed to screw into the transmitter to lock it in place with threads on the cable and in the transmitter. Any ideas where i could find something like this or something that would probably work?
This is the system in its entirety:

I wonder if there's enough Limba left to do a Z body...
I'll post a review later song by song. but the album came out today.
ive listened to it 3x already and i dont see it slowing....
this album owns HARD. half the songs are damn near straight metal (mind you i said almost, dont pick this up expecting ride the lightning)
the slow stuff is great but man, both tremonti and kennedy do KILLER guitar work for a hard rock album.
first time ive said it this year. my review is gonna be a flat out 4 out of 4 stars.
again, ill post a song by song review later.
my fav guitar store around here has a supposedly perfect Far Beyond Driven ML on eBay consignment. i havent seen it, and there arent any pics up yet on the page (landon does the ebay stuff at the location down the street from my house but the guitar is across town at the other one) but its supposedly almost never played...not much longer left on it

In response to Pear Cable's announcement of their latest speaker cables, professional skeptic James Randi has proposed a challenge. A one million dollar challenge. The cables in question are the high-end, Pear Anjou speaker cables. The company claims the cables deliver a listening experience far better than any cable before them. The price for listening bliss? A 12 foot pair of the wonders will run you $7,250, or $302 a foot. For shorter runs, an eight foot pair will cost a cool $5,250. The James Randi Educational Foundation (JREF) has offered million dollars to anyone who can prove in double-blind scientific testing that the Anjou cables are any better than ordinary (and in Randi's opinion also overpriced) Monster Cables. Randi added that if the cables could do what their makers claimed, "they would be paranormal."
Sad thing is nobody will take him up on it because they'll lose and they know it. I'd LOVE to see one of these sleezeball outfits debunked once and for all.
Rethinking my whole rig...
I'm totally rethinking my entire rig. I'm thinking a Rocktron Xpression and BBE Sonic Maximizer in the rack. That's what i've been gassing for forever. I tried them out and I absolutely love them.
However, can someone please explain MIDI foot controllers such as the Rocktron All Access Controller or Digital Music Ground Control Pro in at least 6th grade terms that a feeble minded individual such as myself can comprehend.
Please.

Ok so for my birthday our now ex-bassplayer hooked me up with this thing -> http://www.behringer.com/UCG102/index.cfm?lang=eng
Its just a simple usb guitar link thing... no biggie... he got for free cause he works for a music store that gets'em...
Anyways the problem:
So i got it all hooked up and opened audacity that came with it and start jamming...
I can't hear myself play until i listen back to the recording... is this a audacity thing or what?
when I finally put my geet through my Korg ax-1500 and plug through my stereo speakers and the normal output through the usb link i can finally hear me playing as it records...
then I double the guitar... I can't believe that there's almost a second or so of a delay in the tracks... Anyone have any idea why?
I can hear the first track through the headphone's and my playing through my stereo and they're synced but the recording isnt...
is the link just crappy or the software or both... Any solutions would be nice...

who's got one/played one? whatcha think?
Anyone seen the new Guitar World? Apparently Kerry King has a new signature amp out called the 2203KK. It is basically a modded 2203. It has KT88 tubes and the EQ curve that Kerry uses with the Boss RGE-10 built in. You cant change the ranges of the EQ, only the level of the curve with one knob. It also has a built in noise gate.
He gave examples of what it sounds like on the enclosed CD. Before anyone chimes in and says it was all weedly weedly weee weedly weedly wee chugga chugga. It was not. He played Raining Blood and Jihad. Looks and sounds like a pretty cool amp. Now there can be a bunch of Kerrysheeps out there.
If anyone hasnt picked up the mag should go check it out if they want to hear the new amp.
Line 6 questions
by Lunatic on Wed Oct 10, 2007 5:51 pm
I was looking around a local music shop and was playing around on some cool guitars and amps when i came across some dude going nuts on a line 6.All the options this amp had was crazy and it sounded great,he mentioned to me that he had a little spider amp he used at home to practice on that was great too.The store had a Line 6 spider III 15 amp there and the price is right.
Does anyone here own a spiderIII?
How is it,do you like it,hate it,Why?
Does it come with pre-set sounds like some of the higher end models?
Thanks.

I have a question,
What kind of foot peddle can I attach to my amp to give it more sustaine. I would like a lil more sustaine when I use distortion.
So I guess what I am asking is what kind of foot peddle can I get to do this? thanks to everyone that can answer this for me.

I've wanted one for a long time, but jeez, do they look like an ass to install. I'm not an "installing" type of person...but I REALLY want one of these in my guitar. I'm talking about the one that you install INSIDE the guitar, not the acoustic one planted on the headstock.

Open-Coil or Covered - eVo pr0n
by Aquanin on Thu Oct 11, 2007 1:29 pm
I just installed new pups in my eVo Noir. Should I keep them open coil like the pic or put the EMG-like covers on them similar to the stock pups?
I found the deal of a century
I really want a powerball but I like the JSX head too. I found a guy selling a JSX Head and XXX cab for 1200 canadian diollars. I'm going to try one out at the store again but I'm really considering picking this up seeing how it can handle just about any type of music I throw at it. What should I do? I'm a little concerned with it being "Hot" so I'm a little apprehensive about the deal.

Greatly appreciated!...
PUPS Change!!!
by Rski on Fri Oct 12, 2007 2:06 am
I'm changing the pups out of my U.S.A TC-ML from the dimarzio super distortions to SeymourDuncans jb model sh-4 in the bridge, and the sh-1 59 model in the neck. the tech said the sh-2 jazz model is also a good match. Is there anybody out there Using this setup? If so Please tell me what you like about it, I'm not a big fan of emgs ( to sterile) maybe somebody out there has another combination that would better.
What color tolex should I use?
by Rampage on Fri Oct 12, 2007 2:32 am
Well, I am going to be doing a retolexing project on my 5150 here pretty soon and I have narrowed it down to four styles I really like, but I am still open to other ideas that I really haven't thought of. My main goal is to tolex the headshell in something that will be popular in resale, so please when voting consider each tolex as if you yourself were to get your own amp retolexed and which tolex you would like the most on this. If I don't have it listed, I also have the write in option so you can recommend another style if you would prefer something else (please be serious on this one! I can't pull off spandex and makeup so I'm not looking to go at neon pink or anything like that! )
Check out the styles at these various sites if you aren't already familiar with them:
http://www.betterbuiltworkshops.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=C
-Has Python (dark snakeskin style), Hot White Bronco (like a very light grey color), and Vintage Vanilla Bronco (tan)
http://www.mojomusicalsupply.com/products.asp?id=45012
-Has Burgandy Snake (red snakeskin)
Thanks in advance!
Also if you have any recommendations for hardware color or anything like that I may take that into consideration as well!
I have a guitar that I have tried a bunch of different pick-ups in the bridge (Dimebucker, Tone Zone, TB-4, TB-6, EMG HZ4). So far no passive pick-up has given me remotely what I am looking for. I'm seriously thinking about just getting rid of it, it's really weird, the bridge seems like such a dead spot. Every neck pick-up I tried sounded good, but even the Dimebucker in the bridge sounded flat. But before I do try and get rid of it, I might try some active pick-ups.
I have a Les Paul that came stock with EMG 81/85s. Not a big fan, a little sterile, but good for a change of pace. I really don't want another guitar with that combo, so I'm wondering if anyone has tried the Seymour Duncan actives and if so what did you think?
Obviously VMNT owners have the Mustaine signature Livewires, but I'm also interested to know if anyone has tried the Blackouts or the Metal LW-HMET?
Thanks

Not really a big fan of Dream Theater but I am aware of the human metronome's talent, and they do have a few really cool riffs, check this newer song out. It's got some pretty nice riff's but the chorus is pretty annoying singing wise(To me), other than that the main riff kinda reminds me of new metallica(Anything after ia AJFA by my def.). That all aside, the solo is freaking beautiful, really a miny masterpeice. Have a listen and tell me what you think, If you dont care for anything else the solo is at 3:10.

Unsung Guitar Heroes
by Rotgut on Fri Oct 12, 2007 3:33 pm
I know there are/have been lots of great guitarists over the course of history that have been overshadowed by the guitar legends like Hendrix, Page, and Dime.
In my opinion, Neal Schon of Journey is a great player that never gets mentioned. He's been around a long time and was even jamming in Santana before Journey.
Who are some your favorite guitarists that don't get mentioned as much as the big dogs?

Heafy scraps the signature model shape
by dmsdj5 on Fri Oct 12, 2007 5:43 pm
Matt posted on Trivium World today that his signature is no longer going to be the star like shape that everyone has seen.
"ohh. signature guitar is getting closer and closer. i had to scrap the last body idea... it wasn't practical the way i wanted it. i needed it like way way bigger- and it just wasn't manufacturable. at all.
so, it's back to a more familiar body- but what will set the guitar apart from the rest is the customization i threw on there... and the rockin' paint jobs. you'll dig it. i frackin love it."
So there you go to all of those who completely hated it.Maby his newest idea is way more kickass than the last one.
Now, I know I've been away a while...
but isn't there something wrong with these?

STRAYING FROM DEAN... SUGGESTIONS?
For an acoustic... Dean doesn't offer any USA acoustics and since import guitars are for the birds, I need to look else where. Can anyone recomend me some nice USA acoustics???
I really like Martins but they're pricey. I'm also pretty turned on to Ovations but I've never played one. Any suggestions???
Im really having trouble with the part that goes --11-12-15-11-12-15
on each string. my pinky is really small and thin, and i cant play fast with it much. other than doing the riff really slowly over and over again (which i have been doing), is there any advice anyone can give me?
I guess I'm a bad influence...
I brought my brother-in-law into the Dean family recently. I had already bought 2 out of his 3 kids Deans, so I guess he was feeling the peer pressure.
So about a month ago, we make a little trip over to Music City and he picks up a gorgeous Hardtail Select. I was trying to get him to go for something a little cheaper since he knows even less about playing guitar than I do, which means he dosen't know jack. But it was love at first sight so the Hardtail went with him.
A few weeks later we were back again, buying some additional geets for the kids, and Jody has four gorgeous USA Hardtails hanging on the wall, one of which is an absolutely stunning transamber quilt. The thing played like a dream, and my bro in law got his first G.A.S. pains.
So the son of a bitch just emailed me a picture of him grinning ear to ear and holding that amber Hardtail! Son of a bitch, but I do good work. Now I need to take him amp shopping!

Anyone else here block a trem?
I have, and I MUST say that it's the best thing I've done, on both of the guitars that I did it too.
My Warlock had a standard Fender style dive only trem, I took off the bar and tightened the springs to hell, and kept the back plate off. The guitar is just so much more solid now. When I rest my hand on the trem it doesn't go out of tune, just miles better. If I want to dive bomb I can simply grab a tuner and twist it, lol.
Then believe it or not, I blocked my ML Noir too. I was changing the strings on it, remembered that I never used it much, and when I did, it was just to do Dime Squeels. You can ALMOST get the same thing out of PHing a string and bending it really far. So I just decided to put a little pink dreadle (whatever those jewish tops are) between the big metal bar that comes down and the crotch side of the wood, then loosened up the springs on it. Like the Warlock, just so much more solid feeling, I can rest my hand on the trem and it won't up-tune, easier to tune, stays in tune a million times better, just an amazing guitar.
But, I'm one of those people who says "everyone needs at least one tremed guitar" So sooner or later I'll pick up a B.C. Rich KKV with Kahler, or some other guitar with Kahler. Cause IMO they are better than Floyds by a mile.
So has anyone else just said %$#@! it an blocked a trem?

Repairing an Epiphone SG
by Blazer on Sat Oct 13, 2007 8:57 pm
Today I went to the Music store in Cologne Germany. And I spend some time looking at their second hand and damaged department searching for a cool deal. And I found a brand new Epiphone SG that didn't really made it through the journey from the Factory to the store unscaved.
When I got it home I took it apart and cleaned the break area, discovering that it wasn't going to be a difficult repair. I took out my trusty tube of Construction tix (the same stuff they use in building wooden houses) and clamped the whole thing solid.
I'll keep you guys informed on how this repair progresses.
Opinions?

I 'm digging it. Start to just about finish, one of the better ones I've heard in awhile.
After I'm done with highschool my plans are to go to college in Japan and then find work there as a game designer. Because my dream is to work for Nintendo and I figure I'd have a better chance of actually making Nintendo games there.(I know the whole concept is silly, but this has been my dream for a long time)Also because I really love japanese culture. Meaning If this plan works I will only be in america for another 4 years tops.
I was wondering...do they sell Deans in japan?
The only guitar I've ever seen a japanese musician holding is an Ibanez.I also wonder if an American musician could be successful in Japan, because I'd also like to continue pursuing a music career.
I know the second one there couldn't be a whole lot of answers to.
Aren't import models made in japan? do they sell them there too?
How much would a USA cost to be shipped out...I wouldn't even want to think about a Guitar sailing all the way from US to Japan...It prolly wouldn't make it...
One of the most underrated things about Deans
One of the most underrated things about Deans -
The balance.
I was playing a Les Paul yesterday. Nice guitar (I love Les Pauls) but the difference in balance between that Les Paul and any of my Deans (Hardtail, Caddy, Soltero) was incredible.
My Caddy is probably heavier then the Les Paul, but it felt 5 pounds lighter strapped on. And the Les Paul shifted slightly when I made a quick motion, not so with the Deans.
I picked up 5 sets of Harvey Gerst MoreMe headphones.
What a bargain at $20 a set! And they're fullsized, close back phones!
The chord is super short, but other then that, no complaints.
No they don't sound like $300 headphones, but they sound insane for $20!
If you're looking for headphones, this deal is incredible.
And 'No', I don't know Harvey or have any relationship with his products.

Looking to get something to shape my RGs tone
by Typhaon on Sun Oct 14, 2007 5:26 pm
MY RG100ES XP has a really nice rhythm tone in my opinion but it would be nice to have something to boost it for a better lead tone or whatever. I've been looking into either an EQ, Compressor, or an OD. So if you guys have any suggestions for me I'd like to know, my budgets around $100 but i really want to be a cheapo so the cheaper the better really (as long as its not a total POS).
How do you scream? Like Corey from Trivium, etc. I like his scream better than say Killswitch Engage or CC.
Imports from Korea not China?
Have been off the forum for a while so sorry if this has covered, but anyway I was in a local guitar shop and I noticed that the import Razor Backs and RB Vs said they were made in Korea rather than China. Just wondering if this is a permanant change and if so why, I assume there were quality issues or such, but unfortunatly the Korean guitars I have seen have much, MUCH worse finishes than any Chinese Deans I've seen(other than scratched finishes caused after construction and a few with spliting/cracking wood).
The Marshall Lead 100 MOSFET?
How are they?
Randall RG80ES VS. Randall RG100ES
Wasn't sure where to post this, but I would like to know the differences between them, or if they are virtually the same.

by Bullet on Mon Oct 15, 2007 2:43 am
I got a ZX, and I'm wanting to upgrade the stock pick ups(all though they are pretty good for being stock ones). I play stuff that is like something you would hear from bands like Alice in Chains, Megadeth, Sabbath, Metallica, etc..., and I play lead guitar. I really don't want to get EMGs, seeing as I have one in my ML already. I was thing about the Seymour Duncan Hot Rodded set, or the Mustaine Live Wires. Also I notice the BL-XL500l, is pretty cheap, and people seem to be crazy about them. So what are your thoughts on those, plus any other suggestions. Seeing as I'm a n00b when it comes to pick ups, but I'm pretty good about everything else.

You can also visit the webpage ( http://www.hobby-keller-shop.de/) but items are much more expensive!
Auction page porn:
REAL DEAL PORN:
The guitar is pretty well built and the finishing is awsome with all the bare wood... The neckjoint is a pleasure to look at!
It is made of mahogany and bubinga and let me tell you, this thing is heavy! Its real wood here, not mdf or that sort of crap!
The tuning machines are definatly NOT Wilkinson's as advertised, but hey, you get what you pay for (250$ w/shipping).
The neck feels like a telecaster, fret access is great.
The pickups are week, so I'll be upgrading those with GFS's anytime soon. The neck one specially lacks warmth...
My veredict is that its a lot of guitar for the money and it will sound/play great with some upgrades (pups and tuning machines).

I saw some of these selling on Ebay for real cheap. Anyone ever heard of these? I've looked on Harmony Central and reviews say their pretty good, and for the price they seem excellent. I'm thinking about buying and dropping these in to replace my EMG-HZs in my Jackson.
New amp day! Randall RH50T in the house (review)
At last, the wait is finally over, I recieved my very first all tube amplifier head today, a Randall RH50T. Thought id give a quick overview + review of it for anyone who's after a budget tube amp
I paid £299 for the amp, awesome price imo, it features 50 watts of pure tube power. It comes with four 12AX7 EH preamp tubes and 2 EL34 poweramp tubes. They light up a nice orange The amp features 2 channels, clean and overdrive. Clean is so so...its ok but nothing spectacular, its very usable however and sounds better than the cleans on my other solid state randalls. Now the overdrive....man i love it. It has 2 types of gain, gain 1 and gain 2. They are almost identical, gain 2 has slightly less gain however, better for leads i reckon
I was scared it would sound s#%t at low volumes but it doesnt, sounds amazing. Each channel has its own volume knob, then there is an overall master volume. With the master at 8 'o clock its loud enough to get a great tone but low enough to not piss off my neighbours. Took me a while to find a tone i really dug, but once id found it wow did this amp kick my ass!! Its got tonnes of bottom end, too much imo, i keep the bass knob around 9 - 10 'o clock and thats more than enough.
My main gripe with the head is that its got a lot of midrange, even with the mids knob at 0 it has a lot. So I tried my MXR six band in the loop to drop out some mids, but when i did this i found it cut the volume back loads. so i tried it up front and it cut back my gain instead... then i tried the metal zone, set the gain at 0, level noon, and used the eq knobs to drop out some mids, and that sure did the trick!
This is hands down the best amp ive owned, tube tone sounds so much smoother than solid state, you get a better crunch tone and smoother + richer solos. If your looking for a tube head on a budget like i was, id recommend this head in an instant. If your not big on mids though id highly suggest you invest in an eq to drop some out, but apart from that you dont really need anything else to make this baby sing. A noise gate is optional, my metal zone is adding a bit of noise to it so im using mine, but one isnt essential, the amp isnt that noisy
I'll get some clips recorded soon, im going to re-record breathing new life (so this amp can be compared to the warhead) and also some random riffs n' s#%t, but right now im going to play my amp some more
here's some pr0n:

That's my video of CFH right thar. Now, I *know* that the main riff is a little off, and what annoyed me was that I pretty much nailed it after recording and uploading it. And did improve on the solo as well. It's called practice.
And I welcome *constructive* criticism. Stuff like "Try this. That's not quite right, play it this way."
I'm not gonna complain because all of my comments aren't "WOW UR AMAZIN LOLOLOL", but stuff like the more recent comments on that video just really get on my nerves. Especially when people (obviously) make a 2nd account to try and insult further.
Stuff like:

Guitars that come with built in Sustainer/Sustainiac?
Anyone know some? I know there are some Fernandes guitars with the built in Fernandes Sustainer, there is a couple of Jacksons with the Sustainiac (I think), and some of those SUPER expensive Sthac guitars come with them.
Anyone know of any guitars in the $700-$1000 range that come with the Fernandes Sustainer or the Sustainiac? I've been gassing HARD for the past week.
New Amp Day (about 2 weeks ago)
Well lookie what I got me, ENGL Screamer 50 Combo
Went down to my local shop and tried out the Screamer, Mesa/Booger F-30 and an H&K Switchblade 100 Head with my Dean that has a Seymour Duncan Invader in the bridge.
Plugged into the Screamer, and Ive played this amp a lot and really liked to tones out of it but i settled on the H&K Switchblade. When I went in with my guitar though, everything was different. The Screamer, well screamed. Everything was very hot on the amp, plus the combo was a second hand one so was getting a good price on it too. I thought I'd give the H&K a try too since it was really good last time.
Maybe it was the fact that there was a different bridge pick up, but the overdrive tones were just muddy. I tried loads of things to get rid of it, but it persisted and I ended up pulling the trigger on the ENGL and not in the least bit disappointed
People have said that it won't do "meta". I say they haven't spent enough time with the amp. It took some dialing in and it has its off days when it doesnt sound quite the same, but I'll chug away on this thing all day long. Its not as tight or gainy as the Powerball but its a great amp in its own right. Not the cheapest thing in the world, but you get what you pay for.
Sorry, no pics yet, but im working on it

MASSIVE day of Amp Testing, With Reviews
Dare I call this TMLL (The Meisterjäger Ludicrously Long) Amp test/review? I would... but there's a lack of kick-ass pictures, so I'll drop the font colour before I even start!
My friend Tom is ready to upgrade from his 5150 2x12 combo, and put a high gain head through his Marshall 4x12, so we took a road trip about 100 miles to one of the best guitar shops in England, no doubt!
The shop we headed to is in Hitchin, Hertfordshire called Machinehead, and end up trying out a Hughes and Kettner Switchblade, a Mesa Dual Rectifier, a Krank Krankenstein and an ENGL Invader 150.
Switchblade first, through a Marshall Vintage/Modern 425 4x12 cab...
Not as great as I first thought it was. The shop we were in have really cool staff, and they just leave you downstairs in the sound-proofed rooms to tinker and play around as much as you want, unlike other shops which, in my experience, either demo for you, or sit right infront of you, keeping a beady eye on you. I love this shop, it's full of cool people, and even cooler gear all over the place. After actually getting a hands on myself, and having the ability to teak settings and play a guitar through it myself, giving it some serious chugging and more technical trem picking, it's just not got that raucus feeling to it. It's very 'sensible', if you understand that. Feels like there's barriers there, feels restricted. Also, you always get this nagging, single note of... it's not quite feedback, but it kind of is. But after 20 minutes that one note annoyed the hell out of us, so we turned it off. Cross that off the list.
Next, we go to try out the Krank Rev1 Head, but it's busted. It's squeeling, hissing, popping and making every noise imagineable, apart from picking anything up off of the pickups... not good... I'd tried the Rev1 before and absolutely loved it. It's a shame that it was having a bad day, but doesn't give a very good impression of reliability, especially after what everyone has previously said on the Dean forum.
So whilst that Krank goes upstairs to get retubed, we're left alone to plug into a second hand Mesa Dual Rectifier, into an ENGL 2x12. It sounds pretty good, nice thick tone, lots of gain. Only negatives for me were that it didn't have the massive bottom end I was expecting it to (possibly due to the 2x12), and that it's a bit fizzy, which was seriously noticeable with both natural and pinch harmonics. Another nagging thing was the fact that all channel switching takes place behind the head... it has a rotary knob to select channel 1, channel 2, channel 3, channel 4 and footswitch. Obviously you can plug in the footswitch and channel change like that, so it's no big deal. But then... HUH?? I thought Tom turned the gain knob down by half... but he didn't touch it. The thing just gave up on itself... maybe this is why it's second hand? We tell the guy it's broken, he suggests the rectifier tubes may be acting up... but no matter, the Krank's back!
We plug in again... we didn't figure that it could have got worse, but it did. No sound. At all. This Rev1 gets put in a box and sent back to the Krank distributer...
But it's supposedly bigger, better brother the Krankenstein was next to it sat on top of a matching cab, so we gave that a whirl. For 5 minutes. We couldn't take the sound anymore. No bottom end to it, way to trebly, just not nice at all. I wasn't disappointed, I knew it sucked, but atleast we definitely erased that off the list, aswell.
After that, we messed around with the Cornford RK 100 Ritchie Kotzen signature head for 20 minutes. We were ready to go when we thought we may aswell try the ENGL InVader 150 out while we're here. After dicking with that for about half an hour, we couldn't lose the mud that it had through the ENGL 2x12 it was going through, and it was already making the speakers distort a bit. We went next door and put it through a Marshall Vintage/Modern 4x12, and then with both the channel 4 volume and master volume at about 11 o'clock, clarity took over. This thing sounded MEAN!! exactly what we were looking for, with a thick mid-range, lots of bottom and perfect-sounding top end. We sat and played for about another hour (it took that long to tweak all the channels to perfect, seen as there's so many settings), till our ears rang and decided that this amp had serious MOJO, but only when you really wound it up as it's 150 watts and massively powerful. I love the fact that it's MIDI, too, and with that in mind, it does everything I liked about the Switchblade, but does it so much better. I knew there was a 100 watt version, too, so we left wanting to try the InVader 100 and the Krank Rev1. 3 and a half hours later, we leave the store...!
We tried all of these amps with a Black/Red DEAN Razorback V with a Dimebucker in the bridge. That guitar is awesome, I absolutely loved it! This particular one had a really cool grain pattern down the fretboard, also, which is just plain sexy. I'll definitely be acquiring one of these!!! Maybe my first Dean, depending on Cadzilla's delivery date!
Next day we hit another store to try out another Mesa Dual Rec, and lo and behold, we find an InVader 100 sat there! First we hit up the Dual Rec, and it sounded absolutely lifeless compared to the beating we took from the ENGL the day before. Maybe it's cos we're in one of those shops were mister employee is sat there tweaking the amps EQ settings for you... I hate that. Big time. We have enough of the Mesa, so we turn to the InVader 100 within 20 minutes. As it's pulled out, Tom hands me the guitar and gets infront of it to get a hands-on with the setting himself. This is it, right here. We dialled it in in 5 minutes, vaguely remembering yesterday's tinkering, and with the volume at a much more ear-friendly level, Tom was ready to walk away with it. 2 things stopped us. This particular shop priced the 100 watt version FOUR HUNDRED POUNDS more than the 150 watt we tried the day before, and the amp we were trying out was sat waiting for Paul Allender of Cradle of Filth to come and pick up, so wasn't technically for sale. I recently got a quote for the 100 being £50 cheaper than we were quoted for the 150.
We tried the Mesa and InVader 100 with a Black/Silver Razorback 255 with an EMG 81 in the bridge. Wow, that's quite a heavy guitar. A lot sturdier than I expected it to be. It's Nice...
So i'm really wanting one of those Invaders right about now. Done a bit more research, and I think I'd go for the ENGL Z-12 MIDI footswitch. This amp will be perfect!
Huge props to Randy,James and Rikard on the new CD.This disc kicks some serious A$$!!!Between the BRUTAL RIFFS,Awesome drums, and James's vocals(the man's got some pipes )you get the FULL MEAL DEAL!!Also BIG props to Mark(Jag Panzer) on the mastering,he Nailed it!!So.............if you didn't allready get this disc,WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!!BUY IT!! I've been in the market for an affordable 7 string for a little while now. I had originally been hoping to pick up one of the old Evo7 guitars, since they have a set neck and I love the Evo neck joint. But it's been a fairly long time since I last saw one on eBay. Since I'm not a fan on Floyds (which is really the only thing preventing me from picking up that gorgeous Jeff Loomis signature geet), this has led me to look at the Vendetta 1.7 rather than a Razorback 7. Does anyone here own one or has anyone played one? Are they worth the price?
Right now all I've been looking at have been the Vendetta 1.7 and the old Washburn WG-587,
Silvertung hooked me up with an incredible deal on his VK 112. I've only had ss combo amps to this point including a Microcube, a 120w Crate, and a 100w Kustom Quad. I've been wanting a tube amp for a while now but just couldn't find an affordable tube amp with enough power and volume that's great for metal.
First off, for those thinking about getting the 212, the 112 is fu cking LOUD. I have a two car garage that I play in and don't have to worry about pissing off the neighbors and I still only keep the volume around 2. Don't get the 212 unless you're playing large venues. There's a big difference between 50w of tube power and 100w of solid state.
I've only been able to play it for about four hours so far so I haven't gotten to the clean channel yet. But the high gain channel is perfect for what I wanted. Anyone who says this thing isn't good for metal is re tarded. Having the gain around 5 should be more than enough for anyone. This thing gives me what I wasn't getting with my old amps; warmth, clarity, and BALLS. The gain is tight and smooth, not static-y or fuzzy. Turning the mids past 5 on my old amps sounded like a tight, snappy rubberband. Turning up the mids on the VK just makes it sound bigger and rounder. It doesn't come with a footswitch (although Silvertung was generous enough to throw one in for me), but I highly recommend buying one because not only does it allow for the obvious clean/gain channel switching, but it also gives you a boost for solos or whatever you need it for. You can either set the amp for a gain boost, volume boost, or both. It's especially helpful when you play on the neck pup which can tend to get lost in the mix. Even playing the neck pup with the tone knob rolled all the way down sounds incredible when you switch the boost on. And so far no matter how much gain or volume I've cranked up, this is a pretty quiet, almost hum free amp.
It has a resonance button on the back to tighten or loosen the speaker response, as well as a texture knob so you can make it a class A, clas A/B, or somewhere in-between. A/B is best for high-gain as well as for lower volumes, so I'm guessing anyone that's tried a VK and said it wasn't good for metal had the texture knob on class A.
I've di cked with the gain and tone knobs in a dozen different ways so far and I haven't gotten a bad sound out of it yet! I'm also running a BBE Sonic/Maximer in the loop which makes the amp even clearer. Someone made a thread a week or two ago about how the effects loop can't take pedals, but I'm having no such problem here. I've also tried playing it with just a Planet Waves tuner and MXR Smart Gate upfront and then trying it after adding an MXR eq (mids boosted), Zakk od (level maxed, no gain), and another MXR eq (highs and lows boosted) upfront and, with or without the pedals, it sounds great.
Btw, I'm playing with a Dimebucker in the bridge and a '59 in the neck.
Silvertung said it best; The ValveKing is the Mustang GT of amps. It's the best bang for the buck out there.
I took the back off my 1960 because somethin within my rig wasn't working, and my head was diagnosed as working. Sure enough, one of the spades came off within the cabinet, which you can see in the first pic (rightmost black one)
My cab sounds fine usually, as I'd expect it to, but I noticed the wiring is SKINNY. For learning purposes rather than anything else, would this gauge of wiring make a difference in sound quality? Is it possible to upgrade your speaker cab wiring? Is this the key difference between higher-value cabs?
Just expanding my knowledge
BTW, pictures were takin on my new Sony Ericsson K850i
Does anybody know the size of the screws for a stratocaster output jack.

just how bad ARE these copies?

its 300 with shipping, and they do paypal so i know ill at least get the damn thing or get my money back, but like they say "you get what you pay for"
so what is it that makes these guitars so cheap other than the fact that they're probably made by 7 year old chinese kids? are they made of toothpicks or something? '
in other words, just how bad will i regret buying one of these?

SOUNDS OK FOR OVER REVERBED POD. I WONDER WHAT THE HIGH GAIN SOUNDS LIKE THOUGH
I can't find a good Replica tab, and I can't seem to get all the odd chords being used.
If anyone's got one in a magazine or an official book, that'd rule. I think the tuning is D, but my ears just can't figure this one out...
Alive or Just Breathing guitar tone
i was just wondering what amps + gear where used to record alive or just breathing by killswitch engage? just been listening to it and i think its awesome, the guitar tone sounds kinda compressed compared to their later stuff but imo sounds better

This is a dean fat strat a like with the serial no9212231.I think it is some sort of D series.Strange neck joint ,it's got 6 bolts not 4 .1 vol and 2 tone. Some idiot put stickers on it .so the white paint as faded irregular(I think it looks cool) a bit jigsaw like. The neck is what attracted me .The 24 frets and the wing inlays and the sculpting out on the lower bout make very easy to play.I don't much like the stratish bridge though.Hope you can help.Hope the pics work(new at internet thing,I'm useless)Thanks.
Tropical USA serial numbers
Help required, I have a USA Cadillac with the serial number of 20495 stamped into the 22nd fret, can anyone tell me the age?? ive contacted customer services at Dean who have absoluetly no idea which seems bizarre to me.

Hey guys,
I work at Radio Shack and yesterday we got in these cheap-o Burswood strat knock-offs. Well, I opened one up today and...it's not THAT bad. I mean, it's 119 dollars and has a poplar body and a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard. This particular guitar has crappy fretwork and a square heel that could use some rounding, but aside from that...it doesn't feel that bad.
The action's not too bad, unlike most cheapo guitars where the strings are 20 feet from the fretboard. The tuners aren't too great, but they could be replaced, and the tremelo bridge has a crappy feel to it...I donno why, just feels blah.
Aside from that, it does have 1 pretty nifty feature:
It has an SD card reader that allows you to record straight to an sd card. Now, I haven't tried this yet, but tomorrow I will bring an sd card to work and try it out. Seems like a pretty cool idea, but I donno how practical it is.
The finish is a little bubbly and the pickguard is fugly. I'll take some pics and upload them later tonight. If it were me, I'd spend 50 more bucks and get an X series. But, I guess for the price it's not too bad of a deal.
Pics to come.

I've got 12 guitars at the moment(plus 1 bass). I'm going to sell a few that I don't play much, 3-maybe 4, and I'm giviing my old acoustic to my nephew for Christmas.
I've got 2 on the way; a Cadzilla and a TC Caddy(being built), and I put a deposit down on the DOA mystery guitar. I recently bought an Explorer, and I also have an eye on one of those Soltero SLs.
But how many is too many? Is there such a thing as too many guitars?
NEW SNEAK PEAK BLOODROOT TUNE
OK KIDDIES. THE MORAL TO THIS STORY IS DON'T TRY TO RECORD WITH CHEAP SOUND CARDS WITH HORRIBLE A/D CONVERTERS. IM SO BUMMED. THIS SONG TURNED OUT TERRIBLE AND I CANT STAND THE VOCALS. THE GUITAR TURNED TO A GARBLED MUSH. SOUND GREAT WHEN MONITORING THEM. SOON AS THEY HIT THE ANALOG TO DIGITAL CONVERTER THEY TURN TO STATIC ONES AND ZEROS. POD'S DON'T EVEN SOUND THIS BAD. I'M SHARING A PARTIAL OF ONE OF THE TWO NEW TUNES WE ARE ATTEMPTING TO RECORD (I USE THIS WORD LOOSELY). SOME WILL LIKE IT SOME WILL HATE IT BUT MAYBE IT WILL CHEER ME UP TO SEE WHO DIGS IT. NOT LOOKING FOR SYMPATHY BUT MAN I'M NOT HAPPY WITH THIS. I'M STILL WORKING ON LEVELS AND STUFF. BUT THIS IS ROUGH DRAFT SO FAR. HERE YA GO.

this amp fu ckin rages man.
i only had time to play it for a bit..well, i had lots of time, but i was playing other amps and this one was the last one i plugged in to before my buddy whined about leaving.
but...heres what i got so far...
looks wise..its wicked. i love the tan and green base colors they chose..it reminds me of arizona or texas or something ZZ Top would have on stage with a bunch of cacti and cattle skulls surrounding it.
its also got this five way selector knob on the front that lets you switch to different tones that are completely different from one another and all notches are named by a picture rather than words.
for example...there is five settings to switch the knob to
Cactus
Bull
Tree
Mudflap Girl
Lone Star
i used mainly the "Bull" setting.
i got a really nice chrunchy metal type tone out of this one.
it had great mids and it wasnt too bass driven.
it also has really good punch and clarity to it.
i played Trust - Megadeth on the "Bull" setting
and A Toute Le Monde on the "Tree" (clean) setting
but like i said i had a friend with me who wouldnt leave me there and just go home like i told him...hes only about 20 mins away too.
so i didnt get a chance to explore it more.
im gonna go back and play it again. by then i should have a full review for it...
unless anybody else already has played this or owns it and has a good review to post instead.
man i got ebay jitters....
bout to pull the trigger on my first ever used purchase on ebay.
guys a guitar vendor, 98% feedback no negatives and over 200 transactions
should i be this nervous? lol
internet and no return policy man it gives me the jitters
Need a 9v power cable extension
I already have a daisy chain, and i can power my 4 pedals, but I cannot spread them out as my MXR pedals have awkward 9v inputs, so i need extension to use in conjunction with my existing Daisy Chain extension.
What I'm looking for is a couple of 2-3" cables to run between my daisy chain and my MXR's, to bring the connection roughly level to the Boss and BBE's. I'm sure these exist somewhere, as it's basically a 1-way daisy chain i'm after, instead of the 7-way I currently have.
It's quite likely that my next 2 pedals will be a TU-2 and an NS-2, which both have 9v power outputs, but I can't think of a way to utilise that in this situation.
EDIT:
Right at the very bottom of this page... Is that what I'm looking for?
These are something to do with peavey...

Has anyone had any experience with these, I remember seeing them at the LGS but I didn't get a chance to get on one. they look kinda cool, but that doesn't mean s#%t...
Thanks
For those who wanna know about Ebony fretboards....
This is in the latest issue of StewMac's News Letter
A dark and dirty secret!
Did you think ebony
was black?
Me too. But like any other wood, ebony has grain streaks. If you want the dark consistent black you associate with the word ebony, you’ll need to add fingerboard stain. Read on...
This is a nicely made ebony fingerboard, but it’s streaky. It needs some Grecian Formula: break out the little bottle of black fingerboard stain that Gibson, PRS, and other builders use to get that deep ebony look.
Clean the wood with naphtha to remove contaminates that could prevent the stain from taking, then sand it to 600 grit for an extra smooth appearance (clean off the dust before staining).
A glue brush makes a good applicator. This stuff stains whatever it touches, so I covered my bench in brown paper to protect it from drips. Got your rubber gloves on?
Remember the edges!
Wipe off the excess and let the board dry overnight. In the morning, give it a final polish with some 0000 steel wool.
Bohemian Rhapsody on classical guitar.
This is way too cool. I think it just goes to show what a true work of art this song is.

2008 Mystery Dean Guitar!
There is a more than huge chance I can very well be turned into a huge n00b.. But if I'm right.. nothing that special will happen anyways . I was on dean guitars myspace (for no reason) and saw a dude by the name Chris Caffery. He is in the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and another band that I dont remember the name of.. The main reason I clicked on him was because he plays a caddy, and I just so happen to consider myself a enthusiast of caddies . I was going through his page and noticed something very odd in his photo album:
The odd thing is the massive amounts of split tailage, and what got me more curious was the fact it was purple.. Split tails are only in white and black (or silver? I dont remember). I then thought "meh, maybe he is just getting a custom.", but just a few minutes ago I saw this:
Splittail TSO, "Wizard"
This could just very well be another signature dean guitar, but I wouldnt be at all suprised if this is that 08 mystery guitar I hear about. It make sense sence the Split tail is new, and doesnt have too much going for it as far as variety goes. What do yall think?
Ps - I didnt do any research for a 08 Mystery Dean thread so feel free to do whatever with this post. I just felt like I had to show you dudes this (incase yall havent seen it yet).

I've seen a few threads about this before but people wanted 'em for their Razorbacks, I have a ML XM and a hardshell Coffin Case for it, but I was wondering if there are any gig bags for ML's, because its a bit of a hassle putting it in the coffin case just so I can put it in a car for 5 min while I drive to my friends house.
Thanks,

Hey guys I wanted to know if any of you have tried out the Madison Divinity or any Madison for that matter. Theres a purported dealer like 2 mins from my house but he never carries them in stock and Im too afraid to ask if he can order one since I always go there and play all his stuff but never end up buying anything. Ive heard Madisons are Chinese JCM800 clones that are just assembled in the US. Thanks

I wanted to buy a new guitar in the under 1000 price range and i found the vendetta and the hardtail
which one do you guys think is better or if you have any other suggestions of cheap guitars

Your screen name and your favorite screen name?
I was bored and wondering....how did you come by your screen name? Some of them are obvious....and even then....I bet we are wrong about our assumptions on some of them. Mine, WyldeDime, is one of the obvious ones. I combined the names of two of my top 3-5 favorite guitarist. If I had used my top two like some of you probably assumed, it would be something like IommiBag.....not good
I also want to know.....Whose screen name do you like? Which ones do you think are clever or wished you came up with?
Mine....
Eternal Scar.....simply because if it stands for what I think.....I'm right there with ya bro.
Why The Ear Man.... I haven't seen this brother in a while. But I loved the name especially when paired with his avatar...
If you have seen the movie you know what I am talking about.
Anyway, How did you come up with your screen name and what other screen name do you like?
Hollowbody electric guitars....
Noob question..
I have 0 experience with them, and I'm really considering getting one once I get outta here.
To all of you guys that own(ed) one, how exactly do the differ from solid body guitars, in terms of sound, tone and whatnot.
And in what situations would they be best used for?
We Want Kahlers and 1980's deans to come back
Hi
I overheard that dean dosent put certain things in mass production
I hate Floyds because
1. They go out of tune
2. The strings break
3. It takes an hour to put new Strings in
4. you have to screw and unscrew a lot
Personally I have never tried kahlers but i looked at them and i thought wow this is easy.
I would also like dean to considerate a limited edition run of bel-airs

DIY strat killswitch
by fenda44 on Sat Oct 20, 2007 7:54 pm
Ok, so im sure most of you have a crappy old squire or Knock off fat strat from when you started. as long as you dont care about the middle pickup, this will work on anything with a 5-way switch. All you have to do is simply cut out the middle pickup. then, whenever you switch to it to the middle pickup, it will kill the signal.
Hopefully you can use that crap old knockoff now.
uhh.. crap..
by Dale on Sat Oct 20, 2007 8:20 pm
I got pretty bored today so I figured I'd grab my geet and rock out as always, and I hit this squeal.. all I hear was a tiny snap. Couldn't see anything wrong, then I looked on the floor.. the part that holds the trem arm on the bridge snapped from hitting the inside of the body..
looks like another piece for the trem I'm gonna have to order
Looking for new pickups !
I finally got the Dean ML I've been longing for ...
the '79 Cherryburst one
anyway, after having rehearsed with it a few times,
I've found that the pickups doesn't give me
the sound I'm after
I run a pretty simple setup ... :
Guitar -> custom treblebooster -> Randall RH100 amp(w/ 4x12 Marshall cab)
I like playing around with the feedback alot,
and the only way I can achieve that is by cranking the gainknob on the amp.
the con is that my sound gets too distorted, and I don't like it.
so I'm pretty sure it's the pickups who are at fault.
Something must be done. Hotter pickup maybe ?
The guitar is pure mahogany with maple top(veneer),
and I'm looking for something that can get me in the ballpark
of 70's/80's rock/metal and more modern heavymetal.
Maybe something bright with loads of output ?
Thanks.
I went and saw Collective Soul over at the state fair last Friday.
Well... DEAN ROLAND WAS REPPING A CADILLAC!!!
I didn't get pictures of it, but it was badass.
Had this orange/redish tigerstriped wood going on, with these two black rectangles under the bridge(just like on the rest of his guitars..). It was a 3 pickup combo. Couldn't make out what the inlays were, though. I really wish I had gotten pictures, because this thing was beautiful.
Well, here in the past couple of months i've been gathering up material to make a demo cd. I have my mind set on buying this:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Boss-BR600-Digital-Recorder?sku=241151
So, what else am I going to need in order to record a fair-quality demo?
THE DOWN CONCERT MOVIE (i have a question)
what were some of the music video's that were played? i cant remember the name of one of the songs, it has a sweet Wah part in the beginning and i hear it alot, but i dont know what the name of it is
(wah wah wah dun na na nunana dwah nuh nuh nuuuhhhh) lol, yes im tired but thats how it sounds, then theres great guitar throughout the rest of the song, then it ends with the wah again...
my Aveneged Sevenfold new album review
by visi0nX on Mon Oct 22, 2007 4:18 am
I just got done listening to the album.
I was a fan of all there previous albums, especially City. This album, which isn't categorized as metal in my book, is actually not to bad for the type it is, It's more easy metal/hard rock.
"Critical Acclaim" is good because it's pretty much another City song. "Almost easy" is pretty good, the main riff is nice. "Scream" main riff was actually not to bad but the fact that Matt says the word scream a little....WAY to much got really annoying. "Afterlife" is a good song, especially the chorus, definitely like it. "Gunslinger" i didn't like at all, way to soft, I'm not a hater of songs like this but when the whole album is already to soft, this one didn't do me justice, I liked the slow ones in City because that album was heavy enough to throw in a few slow ones. "Unbound" I liked this one especially with the fast piano thrown in there every once in a while which sometimes got replaced by the guitar which was a pretty cool idea. "Brompton Cocktail" didn't do anything for me... at all, was just a a7x song i guess. "Lost" was great up until the chorus.... the robot tweak behind Matt's voice just killed it for me, voice tweaks in some areas are OK but a robot one is just overboard and sounds like something from MTV. "A Little piece of Heaven"..... the weirdest frippin song on the entire album rofl, i can't tell if i like it or if it's just so stupid it's interesting, think of 1950's ballroom musical or something of the sort with guys wearing top hats, sounds like something that would come out of the new movie Sweenie Tod(if you've seen the trailer) "Come here you frippin bitch!" good part of the song. "Dear God" for the most part i don't like but it sounds like a song that would grow on me, has to much of a country theme behind it which ISN'T a7x, considering they come from California rofl.
Thats it for my review, all in all first impression i give it a 6/10.

It's Dean ML USA from '96. Painted by jeepster. I already sent PM to jeepster but I thought that this would be faster way to find out.
So what is this worth of? I'm thinking of buying it but what i've heard those tropical era deans aren't that valuable.
Also sorry my bad english!
Saw one at a music store the other day...
Never knew they existed.
Names for your guitars
by Blazer on Tue Oct 23, 2007 12:34 am
I guess it's the oldest Rock N Roll guitar thing, naming your guitar. Clapton has "Blackie", BB King has Lucille, Albert King has "Lucy", Roy Buchanan had "Nancy" And Steve Vay has "Evo" and "Flo"
So do you guys have names for your guitars? In My own case yes, I do name my guitars.
On top: My 1986 Fender USA stratocaster "Shelby" Not to difficult why I named it that way. I'm a big fan of mucle cars and racing stripes. I replaced the neck it has in the picture with a genuine Fender neck, I still need to add a white stripe in the middle to finish it off.
Below: My 1989 Squier Stratocaster "The Veteran" named because I have had it for 17 years and couting using it in every single band I have been in, it survived everything I threw at it and came back for more.
On top: My 1998 Squier Affinity Tele "Striper" very obvious why I named my extremely modified Squier Tele that way.
Below: My brand new Squier Standard Telecaster "Veteran's tele" like my Red Strat, this tele copes with everything I throw at it and keeps coming back for more
"The Goblin" this self made guitar always evokes images of fairy tale figures to me, it wouldn't look bad in the hands of Harry Potter and so I gave it a fairy tale like name.
My ESP Horizon "She Hulk" this guitar is a powerhouse, one of the few that didn't need any modifications to suit my needs. It has the sexy curves and the carved top makes it look like well groomed muscle mass, the color was the deciding factor on what name I ended up giving it.
Futher guitars I own with names are my self built SG-tele hybrid "Fido" because of a 7up button with Fido Dido I glued onto the headstock and "Dent" which is a black Squier stratocaster from the same year as "The Veteran", I bought it from a punk player who used to toss it around quite a lot which earned it it's name.
Hello
Anyone know what year/model this Dean ML is...?

Anyone help...?
Shadows Fall, to see or not?
by muckers on Tue Oct 23, 2007 11:49 am
Now, I've got the opportunity to see Shadows Fall on 28th Nov. at a small gig venue literally 20 mins/half an hour walk from me, but haven't really heard anything to see whether it'd be my kind of scene or not.
I've heard The Light That Blinds but...that's it. It was a pretty dam n cool track as well.
So is there anything anyone would recommend me check out that would really epitomise SF? Any really top songs? Or are they just wank?
Don't want to spend £11 on a ticket and four quid on a taxi for something I won't like, so let's see - clue me up!

Help with my rig...
by xero_uk on Tue Oct 23, 2007 8:43 pm
Hello peoples,
I just recently bought a Jackson DK2M Pro. When I saw it in the shop I gave it a test run in essentially the same Amp I have (a Marshall 100W HDFX). When I got the guitar home I plugged it into my FX and noticed that the tone and sustain from the guitar had been greatly reduced. Which made me realise that I have always stuggled to get a great tone and great level of sustain out of my Dean FBD. How can I keep my tone and sustain but also use my FX.
I have a Digitech Whammy, a Boss PW-10 Wah and a Boss TU-2 Tuner. Also I have a Hush Rack Unit which im not currently using which I'd like to include now.
HELP!!!!!
...please
Can anyone recomend me some good songs in |DROP C|
I wish dean would make a guitar like this....Dean Ultra Gp !
Hey guys, im thinking strongly bout buying a peavey 6505. I live in Ireland so if i buy the amp in the USA ill need a power converter and socket thingy. has anyone done this before and if they have how did u do it???? The voltage is different in Ireland and so are the sockets
What do you prefere?? Active pickups or Passive?? and WHY?

Would that be all I needed besides some mics and decent monitors in order to record a decent quality demo? I'm a n00b at this stuff...I don't know where to start. I just saw "Digidesign Pro Tools..." and figured that was it.

which one is this and how come its not on the site?
i personally like it bettter than the current one.
on the razorback shards graphic.........does anyone know what that is or supposed to be?
OK HERE IT IS . THIS IS ABOUT AS GOOD AS I CAN GET IT . AS SOON AS I GET THE CASH I NEED TO INVEST INTO A GOOD FIREWIRE PREAMP AND SOUND CARD SO MY GUITAR RECORD LIKE THEY SOUND WITHOUT ANY ANALOG TO DIGITAL NOISE INTERRUPTING MY SOUND. THIS WAY MADE MY ENGL SOUND LIKE A POD. OH WELL LIKE I SAID LAST TIME.. THE GUITAR SOUND AWEFUL AND EACH BAND MEMBER SAYS THEY CANT HEAR THEIRSELF. I THINK EVERYONE IS MORE THAN PLENTY LOUD MORE SO THAN THE CRAPPY GUITAR SOUND. OH WELL ENJOY

I got myself a fixer upper 1989 Squier strat
by Blazer on Wed Oct 24, 2007 12:40 pm
Let me introduce you guys to "Dent" a late eighties Squier Stratocaster that I got from Ade, my band's Rythm guitarist. He used to play it in punk bands and it bears the scars from years of abuse.
The guitar is complete, I just need to re-assemble it. The front shows residue of stickers.
"Dent's" back, this is no relic job, this is the genuine article, this is genuine wear from being tossed around and Ade's love of big belt buckles.
"Dent" is a guitar with a lot of history and when I'm done refurbishing her she's ready for more.

Nice 7 string which I can't seem to find anywhere.
Anyone know the model and if they still sell them, if they're any good? etc
(Watch the video to see the guitar)
My neighbor has my guitar
Borrowed it from me the other day for his guitar lesson and he hasn't given it back yet. I would walk over and get it but it's raining like all hell.
I WANT IT.
All my other guits are stringless, btw.
Southern California and My life
by GrantS on Wed Oct 24, 2007 7:37 pm
Southern California and my life at the moment.
As you walk outside, the skies are orange, the moon is blood red, cars, trees, houses and roads are covered in soot and ash. This is where I live. The air is no longer easy to breathe and my sinuses are pounding.
Class on Tuesday was cancelled as people were not showing up. Their houses were on fire. It's not personal until it's yours.
I live in San Clemente, California; probably unknown to most of you.. but my town is about half way between LA and San Diego. In all of my surrounding towns homes are ablaze, people are evacuating, and people are losing what is most dear to them.
This is my weekend.
Sunday Morning I woke up to go to church only to find my car wasn't in the same place I had parked it. In fact, it wasn't on the same street. No, I don't drink, do drugs, or do anything that would modify my memory. My car was missing. I had my neighbor and my dad drive me around the neighborhood to scout for it, but it had vanished.. it was invisible.. gone.
I called the local police station and filed a stolen vehicle report.
Tuesday Night, my car was found in a back alley about 6 blocks away from my house. The car was left, but that was about it. My stereo, seats, cd's, eletrical, RANDALL RG100ES, countless pedals, guitar cables, clothes... all missing. The trunk is inoperable, it cannot #$%@. The car was stripped entirely.
I left the scene after talking to the officer. My vehicle is now impounded and is evidence for an investigation. Finger prints are being taken. Now I do not have a vehicle, I can't get around and must rely on the transportation of others.
Later this night, I go up to my grandmother's house who lives in the area. As I am there, I notice the hills and canyons catching fire about 5 miles away. Smoke stacks rose very high in the sky and ash began to fill my lungs. 3 Fires to the north. Camp Pendleton (a marine base close to my home) is now also on fire to the South. This one is much, much closer.
We grabbed our valuables... or atleast what was considered 'valuable,' as most of mine were once upon a time safely locked away in my 91 Honda Accord.
Last night we stayed in my church's youth center. My girlfriend, my grandma and I. 500 People had evacuated from my town, and we were not going to sit in the middle of a bigger evacuation--we were outta there. This morning we have come back only to be educated that the fire South of us by only 5 or so miles is quickly spreading northbound.
Thousands of homes have been burned, and thousands more have evacuated.
It is my firm opinion that this area of the country is not equipped to handle disasters such as this. People are evacuating to high schools, only to have them become full. I have called several of my friends to see if they would offer up board, but selfishness, the fear or being put out or inconvenienced has taken a higher pedestal. Sometimes this is the way things are.
I'm typing this not for sympathy, but to relieve ignorance. What I have seen throughout my lifetime is that people can be very selfish, only thinking about the "I" or self. Some people here are losing everything, there is no more "I" to some of them.
Consider these people in your prayers, your thoughts, and your heart. Just because the situation may not be at your doorstep as it is mine and others, it does not mean it doesn't exist. Be aware of what is going on. There are brighter days ahead, but looking at the orange glazed smokey sky, we can't see them just yet.
Tuesday: President Bush declared CA a "Federal Emergency"
Wednesday: Declared a "Major Disaster"
A7X "A Little Piece of Heaven"
Just listened to the whole song...aside from Gunslinger and Critical Acclaim, this is my other favorite. I like the semi-different direction they took with this album. Can't wait to buy the cd.

If you've heard it or it's been posted on here before, I don't care.
Give it a try. Some weird sounding stuff. You can hear the Mr. Bungle influence.
i picked this up from neals the other day. short but kinda cool.
highlights
1) elliot drives his lamborghini inside the warehouse sometimes (or at least for dvd shoots)
2) lots of dimebag stuff
3) lots of footage already on the website, namm stuff
4) tour of the custom shop.
this is a GOOD start. heres my tips for the next dvd
footage of dean z at us masters overseeing production.
tour of the japanese, chinese, and korean factories!!!!
basically.....
i want the carvin dvd, but showing dean stuff instead
GOOD START THOUGH.
its a step in the right direction for how i want to see customer service and interaction happening with this company
name an easy song (classic rock or metal) to learn it has to be easy and quick because a few weeks ago i decided to not halfass my schoolwork.
giving a s#%t is a hard thing to do!
so it gotta be easy and quick
I scored a new head today. I decided to take off work today and just look around at a few guitar shops. I had no intentions of getting anything. Ended up coming home with a new head. I traded him a Washburn Rebel 'Funky Munky' exclusive model ''that I hated''. And a $100 bucks. The head is in pefect condition. I mean not a scratch or dent anywhere. It's clean. The amp sounds so much better than my old valveking head. I love it. The mesa compliments it well.
I dont know if this has been posted before, i searched and couldnt find it. I just tuned my flying V in D standard tuning and want to learn some BLS, slayer, metallica, down, megadeth or any songs in that genre of music that are in this tuning. I already found a post with pantera songs so i dont need them. So if yall can tell me some some songs or if theres been a post about this already give me the link.
Roland Microcube or Cube 15?
Ever since I sold my Podxt ive been wanting to get something to replace it, I need something cheap that can be used with headphones but doesnt sound too shitty, ive come to the conclusion its gotta be either the Roland Microcube or the Cube 15, but im not sure which to go for.
I know the differences, the Microcube models amps, Cube 15 models pedals, but which sounds better? is it worth going the extra step and getting the Cube 15, or does the Microcube sound good enough? I want the one that sounds the best, I hated how digital the Podxt sounded, I used to have a Roland Cube 60 and that sounded a lot better, so im definatly sold on Roland for the modelling stuff, i just dont know which Roland I should go for.
Please vote and tell me you thoughts, will be much appreciated
