Why not just make 10 louder?
by muckers on Thu Mar 01, 2007 5:15 pm
My guitar is therefore louder. 11. Yessss.
Howdi.
ive just saw a DEAN, it looks great, and its for a good price.
im not sure about the model, and it seems the man who sells it doesnt have any idea.
thats the guitar:
i thought it was a DBD T, but nope, no dime signs anywhere.
anyone can help?
Thanks.
Do you leave the rear plate off your Dean?
Do you need to adjust the springs often on a floyd rose? If so I may leave my rear plate off. What do my fellow dean members do with their plates?
Edit: I prefer the way it looks on.
I need help getting a good tone :(
by Saradilc on Thu Mar 01, 2007 10:11 pm
I have a Boss ME-50, and a Valvestate 2000 AVT 275 Marshall Amp. I use a Washburn WI64-DL, but am getting a Jackson RR3 soon.
I cant get a nice really heavy tone that is clear, there is always too much feedback, or I end up using so much Threshhold that the notes dont ring out long enough, and/or its not heavy enough.
I am seriously starting to wonder if my guitar is a piece of crap or my pedal/amp has a problem with it? I mean I have around $1500 dollars of equipment in my room and cant get a decent tone.
I am looking for a tone similar to bands such as Unearth, All That Remains, As I Lay Dying, etc.. Heavy, but clear, and most of all I want dead silence when I mute the strings, no screetching or humming, etc.. since I play a lot of breakdowns in the music I write. If anyone can let me know what you think the problem is, or school me in building a tone, I will appreciate it a ton!
My newest Dean tat almost finished.
Here is Dean tat #3 for me. The V is going to be shaded in like the Rust paint job.
I remember reading it in one of my guitar worlds that had a blurb from Dean Zalinsky but I can't find it and it's bugging me.
Thanks
I have found my sound!!! It has taken me about 5 years and through many amps and cabs and guitars and pickups. But I can finally say I have found a sound I love. It is tight, brutal as fvck and clear as a bell.
DFH w/ EMG 81 & 85>Boss NS-2>MXR KFK-1>Randall Warhead>Mesa Boogie Oversized Recto Cabinet w/Vintage 30's. All hooked together by Monster Cable with DR Hi-Voltage strings.
Bought the Warhead from Blacktooth Sin, thank brotha!
Will post sound clips soon, hopefully

Could someone photoshop...
Could someone photoshop a V with black binding on body, neck, and headstock, the Dean logo in dark blue, and a dark blue burst body...black around the edges of the top and fading into a flamed dark blue in the middle and black hardware. Such as:
And if you could, use the colors from Mayhems De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas album cover:

Fender Instrument Care Kit - Meguiar's

I was at Guitar Center the other day and picked up this 3 part cleaner.
I am absolutely speechless (can only type - really) at the incredible shine if put on my import Hardtail STD which had a rough clear coat in spots making it sort of dull looking.
Went to town with the Swirl & Haze remover and the the Polish & Conditioner and am completely impressed with the end results. With quite a bit of elbow grease I was able to make this thing shine like a wet piece of glass!
It also did a great job of removing the haze on my 1978 Les Paul.
Just a tip on something that went well beyond my expectations!!!!

Thinking about acoustic
by scott58 on Fri Mar 02, 2007 8:15 am
I've been playing a Dean Icon P3 for about 4 months (3 to 4 hrs a day) and wanted to add acoustic to my practice sessions. I purchased an Esteban Master Class Package and tried playing on it for 2 weeks. I was having a hell of a time. I was not improving and in some cases getting worse! Esteban has a pretty cool technique and I wanted to try and learn it. Once my level of frustration got to a certain point I put the Esteban back on it's stand and got my Dean back out (hadn't even tried playing it while I was using the esteban) and started the dVd session from square 1. The difference was imediate! I stopped blowing the few cords I knew and actually started playing what he was teaching (slow to be sure, but alot better and at least i'm starting to grin again). Now i'm concerned with playability. I still want to have acoustic, but I want the action of my Icon. The exotica andres really catches my eye, but i'm nervous about running into the same problems I had with the Esteban. Anybody played the exotica and the Icon? What are the differences in feel? Nearest Dean Dealer is about 50 miles away so it will be a few weeks before I can get to it and thats even if they have an exotica in stock. Suggestions are appreciated.
PS The Icon even makes The little 10w amp that came with the Esteban Package sound great (keeps you from blowing the windows out of the house too)! I'm really sold on Dean Guitars.

My guitars and shitznitz (2002-present) *Pr0n galore!*
by Kride on Fri Mar 02, 2007 12:38 pm
Got bored and thought I'd share pics from what guitars and geetar related shite I've owned...
PR0N TIME!!!
My first instrument ever, bought her in 2002 (sold last year :\ )
My first bass amp (sold her last summer)
Then I ordered my first guitar, LTD EX102 from music123.com closeout sale (179.99$). Got her shipped to Finland YAY. Sold her in 2006.
My first guitar amp, class A tube amp:
Then I got another guitar from the States, used RG520 with ToneZone in the bridge (my fav pup these days):
Then she got beaten up pretty badly (thanks drunken ex-friend) and I refinished her a couple times and added DiMarzio AirNorton to the neck (2005-2006):
Here's she with the Tremonti SE with EMGzorz. EX's, Tremonti's and Warlocks last pic together:
So my 3rd guitar was PRS Tremonti SE which I upgraded with EMGzorz, awesome axe:
changed the pup rings to chrome:
Then I sold her (in 2006 summer) to Munju to finance the next axe, S520EX
I replaced the pups to ToneZone/PafPro combo later but sold her 'cos the RG sounded better and played better...
Here's my amps I got in early 2006 (Microcube and Flextone II XL) I sold the Laney in end of the year 2005):
I customized the Flextone couple months ago:
I also added back plate so it's not open back anymore. Sounds much better now, IMO.
Then, I got a great deal on FBD I just couldn't pass (gar yeah). I sold the S520EX after the fam pics.
Maybe the best guitar I've owned so far:
That pretty much sums it up... Currently, I'm looking something without a trem to replace the RG...
Cheers !
Canauba wax on guitars???
Anyone use canauba wax on thier guitars? I searched the forum and found a few references to this, but they were old.
I had a buddy that showed cars. He'd spend all day putting this wax on his cars. He didn't use the spray-on stuff, he put some hard work into this by rubbing this stuff off by hand.
He told me this wax is pretty much standard on the show car circuit. I read up on this wax and was interested to find out that it puts a rockhard coating over the paint. It's actually protecting the surface in addition to making it shine.
This sounds like it could be great for guitars. And I notice that there are some caranuba wax on the market for guitars. Does anyone use them??
MT-2 Mod Kit
by xero_uk on Fri Mar 02, 2007 3:07 pm
Found this item on the bay and was just wondering if anyone knows anything about it.

I had an MT-2 about 6 months ago but stupidly sold it so I'm looking for a new one and thought this little mod kit could be quite useful.
Any help fellow Deaner's?
Let's try this question here as I haven't got s#%t in the newb section.
After playing semi-hollow epi's and les pauls for a couple of years I'm looking to purchase my 1st dean.
Being left handed (and poor) I'm limited to the MLX or VX .
(Thank god they onlycome in black, you see all lefty's are colour blind anyway!)
They are both the same price.
So my question is ....
What is the difference between the 2 other then the obvious?
Playability, neck, sound/sustain, weight?
There are guitar shops in my area that can order them in but they don't have them for me to play and get the feel for one.
Any comments would be helpful.

Cadillac Select in red ?
by Coroner on Fri Mar 02, 2007 4:20 pm
Hi all, from France
I'm very fond of the Cadillac.
I own two, a Cadillac Select in classic white and an Europa Cadillac, made in Samick factory (as it was given to me by you, the specialists !).
I've seen now and there on the net any Cadillac models in trans red, sometimes called Select and sometimes just Cadillac, but never given for USA or custom shop made. I seek, I seek... but I can't find anything about Cadillac Select in red. Could tell me more about it ?
My dreamed perfect model would be a Cadillac model, designed as the Select, with 2 PU and set neck, with flamed maple top in WINE RED, as it is featured on Fernandes Ravelle ou Gibson les Paul Snakepit signature. Is that guitar living ?
It seems the Caddy is not as loved as others Dean models, not a lot of new models... sad...
NEW!!! Hardtail Select *UPDATE* I did it - PRON!!!!!!
I found a new transpurple HT Select for $200 with a slight finish flaw on the top of the headstock.
Good price?
Well , I bought it. Here it is, and I really like it, Has a nice neck, and sounds great. This will be my sons' geet. He found it,and told me about it ,so it's his.
Here's the reason it was $200

Hello, I just bought this guitar http://www.musicstreet.co.uk/deancadillac1980w3humbuckers-p-1773.html?osCsid=fbcf173550397ecd4ef18822a9448bc5
I hope I didn't get ripped off for that price but I'm sure someone will tell me I did lol, but I couldn't find it anywhere else.
Anyway, I need to get a dean cadillac hard case for it and wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction of someone in the UK I can order it from....I had a look at the Bill Lewington website...do I buy it from or directly or do I have to go through someone else? I don't really understand what the deal is.
Also how much am I likely to buy it for in UK pounds?
Thanks!

Got my new ENGL Powerball!
by Dim3 on Fri Mar 02, 2007 9:54 pm
Well, as there's been a whole lot of hype on this forum about ENGL's since back in the day when Hans was spreading his propaganda about these amps, I've always been interested. I went out to my local dealer about a month ago and whined for them to order one into the store that I could try it out.
They finally got it two days ago, and I knew this was the amp for me.
Holy motherfucking s#%t this thing crushes ANYTHING. It's so incredibly responsive to anything you do, such a resonant amp. It's really got a "oomph" to it, especially when cranking it up. I'm using a Marshall 1960A cab right now, might have to get the ENGL cab too though.
It can do anything from a blues tone to the nu-metal stuff. I tend to keep the gain a tad down though for that Vio-Lence style Thrash Metal "rip-your-face-off-and-stomp-on-it" type of distortion.
I'll post pics and clips later! Too busy bursting my eardrums right now.
Dean Sarasota - anyone have one or had one? I have a Q
by Laudanum on Sat Mar 03, 2007 12:43 am
For anyone who owns, has owned or knows the Dean Sarasota ...
I'm talking about the 6 string, semi- Hollow Body with set neck, flame top, un-covered buckers. Not the Del Sol. The neck and body look like they were finished seperately BEFORE the neck was glued to the body.
I'm wondering if this is normal for this model or if this is a factory repair job. You can see the line in the finish and urethane where the body and neck are joined. I'm thinking that this could be normal for this Dean model because I know they used the same body for the cheaper bolt on Boca Models as the Sarasotas with the only real differences being the fact that the Sarasota necks were finished instead of naked maple on the Bocas and the Sarasotas had flame tops instead of solid finishes. I cant see why Dean would bother doing a repair on a broken neck and this looks like it was done during manufacture, not a repair job. It doesnt really look bad or anything, it's just a little strange and definitely the cheaper way to go so it is somewhat surprising.
So ... anyone have a Sarasota or know the model and can tell me if this is how they were made?
Thanks
Picked up a used Evo recently. The top is in real nice condition, I'd give it a 9 out of 10. Real nice flame too, I'll have to post some pics when I finish some work on it. Back has some belt rash, worse in a couple spots than others but nothing through the finish or anything like that. Is there any way to buff some of this stuff out ? What product and technique to use?
I'm going to change to DR strings from D'addario and try a couple of packs. What kind do you find best? There's tite-fit, High beams and than the sig series. I'd just like to get the pack people generally like the most.
Thanks
Edit: what guage string comes stock on the floyded ML's?
I pretty sure they 9's but what range do they go to on the bottom strings?
Mondo Mando 9string
by echo on Sat Mar 03, 2007 4:00 am
Hi,
is there anybody w/ some experience w/ the Mondo Mando? I just got one and I'm experimenting w/ the tuning. (Well first I gotta find decent strings since it came w/ ones that seem to have survived the Civil War.)
I'm thinking of tuning it down to D and using a Capo on the 2nd fret because the fretboard is quite narrow at the beginning.
And I wonder if I should tune the 3rd (g) pair an octave apart or in unison.
Thanks for hints.
I broke out of a rut!!
by Malek on Sat Mar 03, 2007 11:15 am
For the past month and a half I've been struggling through a real bad case of player's rut with writing new songs and improvising. Well tonite a freaking dam just burst right open. This is pretty much how it went down:
a) I watched a lot of vids on youtube of others playing, amateur and pro alike. For some reason that got me wanting to play A LOT.
b) I've never really learned a lot of theory so I've been studying up on notes of the fretboard, majors and minors, and scale patterns. Really just trying to figure out how to make things fit.
c) THE BIG ONE. I drastically changed my tuning. Went from drop D to drop B. Once I did this was when it all just pieced together. It really was the missing link for me. Not only was it something new that made me want to experiment but now my whole rig sounds golden to me right with this. It's as heavy as I've always wanted it to sound and all the notes are just so smooth. It's like my guitars and my amp were made just for me to sound like this.
I've really been put on cloud nine and I feel like I took a lot of big steps in my playing breaking out of this rut tonite. I just wanted to share it with the board seeing as I've been able to look here when I needed help. Hopefully this will help others as well.
EDIT: Let's hear about when you or others have broken a rut as well!

NASTY fretboard
by Lon on Sat Mar 03, 2007 1:39 pm
I spent an hour on this beast last night. Had to start with a slotted screwdriver for the initial gunk removal, then 3 coats of lemon oil scrubbed with a toothbrush, and finally a fret polishing. I've cleaned a LOT of fretboards before but man, this was the worst! Funny thing, this Strat was very dirty but once I cleaned it up, she's in almost mint condition. I guess the guy just played it and never cleaned it (1996 model) but didn't abuse it either.
Strat customization thoughts?
by Culprit on Sat Mar 03, 2007 2:51 pm
Hey, I'm about to customize my old strat copy that's just been lying around lately. I sanded the finish flat a while ago, which turned out great, but I want to do another finish job on it.
I'm thinking of removing the paint, so it gets natural finished, and oil the body.
Any thoughts on what might look cool?
Thanks

Since I'v been gone I picked up 2 new guitars, Got a BC Rich Mockingbird Special X, And a Dean 79 Z.
Glad to be back!
I have never used the effects loop in my amp before. It was the basic "effects send, effects return" plugs in the back.
i have my usual line of pedals (tuner, distortion, noisegate, echo ect) going right into the amp's imput. how/where do i plug everything into to use the Effects Loop? I know it sounds like an elementary type of question, but i know nothing about it or have ever used it, and i hear you can get a better sound out of hooking it all up through it instead. i would just experiment, but i dont want to do something wrong and ruin something...

If your looking for a Randall amp within Canada I found a dealer that has great prices. It had a 412 cab shipped from Newfoundland to Ontario and it was still a much better price than I could get in Ottawa. If your interested PM for details.
It's a little pricey but cool for the silverbust fans.
http://www.chrisguitars.com/electric.html
1983, in very cool Silverburst. Shape isn't as radical as most Deans from that era but the quality is definitely there. Features HSS pickup configuration, nicely flamed maple neck, and 3+3 Dean headstock. Cosmetically, has some finish touch ups on the edges but top is nice and overall very presentable. Highly recommend for anyone with a Silverburst collection or just a good gigging guitar for less than arm+leg. $450.
new dean white and gold razorback custom day.
by zao on Mon Mar 05, 2007 9:25 pm
well its finally here, its a pretty cool looking guitar, very classy looking. im surprized its not broken considering how poorly packaged it was, it was just the guitar in the case and in a dean box. no bubble wrap or peanuts or foam. i thank god i got it in 1 piece. this is the acutal white and gold guitar that was at namm. there wasnt a mark or scratch on it. and i was told that theres only been 2 made like this one. and i have one of them. and everybody knows who has the other.
i cant really give a big tone report because the factory set-up is awful. i cant believe they let it leave like this. im gonna restring it and put some 10's on it and adjust the neck.
its buzzing way too much. i also gotta check what pickups is in it. im very happy i got it but im kinda annoyed at the way it was shipped without the proper packing materials and how poor the setup was. heres some pics and later on i will try and get a tone report.
the pick-ups are some kind of dimarzio but i cant figure out which. they say dimarzio engraved in the metal and the neck has the letters DN2 engraved in it and then theres a sticker that says made in usa- DHNN2BKL.
the bridge says dimarzio and has B-2 engraved on it and a sticker that says made in usa- DHWB2WBL
does anybody know which pickups i have, i called dimarzio and they said they will have somebody call me later.

dean from hell dissapointment
so i tried a DFH for the first time today (import model) and i must say that i wasnt to happy with it. i liked the slight V in the neck but the actual neck itself seemed really chunky is this normal for those that own them , maybe this one was poorly made , maybe you have to get used to it if someone could clear this up for me thanks

I think its really versatile, Though im not a Satriani fan I still would love to have it, The clean is a little to sterile but its meant to be used with effects pedals, so thats not to much of a problem

HOLY CRAP WHAT A FIND! WARNING NDC
Some of you may remember during DOA i was talking about a guy i work with who thought he had a 1950's les paul and wanted me to take a look at it...well it's not a les paul...SORT OF... check these pics and then I'll continue...
OK here's the cool part..
Serial # is 31416
Truss rod cover reads les paul
Thusly the above guitar is a 1961 LES PAUL Double Cutaway
Gibson was forced to rename the guitar model the SG in 1963 because Les Paul didn't give his OK
The serial numbers in 1961 started at 100 and ended somewhere around 42440
HOLY CRAP!
A few scuffs and scratches..one or two very small chips and needs new tuners...
I haven't nailed down an aproximate value...does anyone know what it might be worth?
Would anybody be willing to sell me a Dean for like, 215? I know, that's pretty cheap for such a nice guitar.. But hey, it's worth a shot.
Anyone ever been endorsed by Jim Dunlop?

Just got home from Washington Music Center with my new Krank Revolution combo. It is one of the greatest amps I have ever had the chance to play. I tried quite a few others today to include a Koch, Engl, Bogner, Diezel, Orange and the Marshall JVM. I was going to get the Head only but for $300.00 more I thought this was a better buy for what I was doing. It has 2X12" Eminance speakers in it. If I bought the Head I would have to use the Marshall Cab I have and frankly like this setup more. For those of you who are thinking bout' Krank. This is one killer amp. Kris/Randy thanks for talking me into getting a better amp.
I made a thread like this before, but I'd just like to know who wants an amp section, cause god damn theres alot of amp threads.
when i try to post in certain areas or to threads it tells me im banned...any one else having this problem

anyone know anything about these? forgot i had one , i got it as a deal with another axe and its been in the closet, any idea of value on em?

New active Seymour "Blackouts"
by BFH on Wed Mar 07, 2007 1:35 am
Oh snap
| Quote: |
The newest Player of Our new BLACKOUT's active humbucker is DINO CAZARES of ASESINO/BRUJERIA/FEAR FACTORY fame. He has just had a 7 string version installed in an UVA INSTRUMENT by ALEJANDRO LAGOS. His Words regarding them: "Love 'em"
Let me tell you a little bit about the history behind the BLACKOUTS development:
We did some research and found that while lots of guitarists love active pickups, many wanted a tone that was less compressed, with an extended frequency response. In our efforts to resolve those issues, we discovered that some of the most popular active pickups have what we consider a design flaw in their circuit architecture. They use unbalanced inputs in a differential preamp. While this achieves a unique tonality, an unbalanced differential preamp is not very effective a cancelling hum. We figured out how to capture that tone that players want, but by using balanced inputs; and the result is 14db less hum. Not only do the Blackouts have less hum but more lows, more highs and more output.
We have also made it easy for players currently playing EMG’s to switch over by providing all necessary hardware including quick connectors, pots, jack, and battery clip. If a player already has EMG’s it’s a simple matter of unscrewing the existing set and clipping the new ones in. 3 minutes tops.
We have a six string version in production and will be widely available in April…the 7 string version is in the pipeline and small batches are being produced now...M/
If you like Metal than these are essential to completeing your rig!

V or C neck, ebony or rosewood. Help us out Dean.
Theres been a lot of confusion lately about if imports do or don't have ebony. Or which ones have V necks or C necks. Thats one thing I wish Dean would do better, tell us what a specific model has. Come on throw us a bone. They have a page listing each model, add what the neck shape is and what the fret board is. Please?
How can they write this with a straight face ?????
Read this advertising note ---
It is performs as well and better than cables twice its price! If you are looking for the end all of guitar and instrument cables look no further, you have arrived!
Sounds cool, doesn't it? A guitar cable that sounds better then cables costing twice the price! Give me five of them!
Guess how much the cable costs????
$300!!!!
Three hundred dollars for a guitar cable!!
They must have been laughing thier butts off when they wrote this! Are there really cables that cost 'twice the price'? Maybe they come with a free guitar???
What's next - $100 guitar picks???
Weight of the 79s?
by Lon on Wed Mar 07, 2007 2:40 pm
I just picked up a 79 RI V and it's gotta be the lightest guitar I've ever held, even lighter than my SGs. Anyone got an official weight on these things?
tell me about these pickups
by zao on Wed Mar 07, 2007 3:17 pm
my new razorback has a soltero neck pup and a schenker in the bridge, both are dimarzio. tell me how you would describe them.
Your thoughts on guitar finish ? :)
I've been wanting a LesPaul-like model for a long time.
Sad to say, I can't afford a real Gibson, but these guitars,
Stellar Guitars, offers set necks, mahogany/maple LesPauls
for almost $250 including a case.
Which of the following finishes would you prefer?
I'm leaning towards the tobaccoburst because
it feels a little more rock n' roll but it would be cool to
hear your opinions as well

The ridiculously expensive gear thread
Inspired by the $300 cable thread, lets outfit a guitarist with the most ridiculously expensive gear made.
I'll start with some guitar picks. I'll buy a dozen. A dozen is good, you have a few spares and you can toss some to the audience.
For my guitar picks I'm going to head over to ---
http://www.sterlingguitarpics.com
I'll buy some 14k gold picks. Of course they'll need to be engraved with initials for an extra $3 a pick.
The grand total of a dozen gold guitar picks is $1,055.40
Shipping is free on these!!
Next up is some cables. I'm heading over to ---
http://www.lavacable.com
I'm picking up a 25' guitar chord and a speaker cable. Grand total is $614.90
So for picks and chords I'm at $1,670.30
Someone add some more gear. We need a guitar, an amp, a case, some pedals, a strap, etc.
Hi everyone, I'm still looking for a Cadillac. I am looking stateside now as I can get them imported to the UK at a very good price.

Forsaking the pointies...

Hey guys, just wondering if there are any Shadows Fall fans out there. I'm planning to see them at the Orlando House of Blues in April. Are they good live?
So I'm in the process of getting a new bridge for my Select V as the one thats on it is alittle dirty and tarnished.
But later down the line I plan to upgrade all the hardware to more sturdy stuff. New grover tunners, new pots, new knobs, and a new bridge.
Problem is I dont know anything about Tune-o-matics. Is there a great deal of difference in them all or are they just made by different people.
Theres a Schaller one thats like 50 bucks through stewmac and another one thats closer to 200 bucks!
HELP!
Moving to the Denver, Co area
I will be moving to the Denver Colorado area and will need to find a decent luthier / guitar shop to keep my set-ups in good order. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
I have a Peavey Vk 100 all tubed head and I am thinking about running a Randall head with it. I have a few questions about this.
1. I've heard a few negative things about Randall.. Such as amps overheating way too easy and ect. I was wondering if it would be a bad idea to run it with my tubed head.
2. What would I need to get in order to run both heads. I was going to run each head into a different cab. I like my tubed sound but I really like the crunch that the solid state randall amps give off. And would this be bad for my Tubed head?
I would appriciate if anyone had any opinions on this. - Justin
Ordering online
by scott58 on Thu Mar 08, 2007 6:51 am
I'm kinda nervous about ordering a guitar unseen and "unfelt". I'm pretty sure i know what I want from the advice i've recieved on this site, but the area I live in is musically Dean challenged and it's going to be kind of a challenge to get somewhere that may carry what I'm interested in. The V Wing seems to be somewhat scarce even online and I worry about getting somewhere and they don't have one in stock. i've only actually seen 3 deans in my life (bought one of those) and one is still available (Dean Diamond series?). I really want to check out the necks and try them out before I buy. Thin neck is best for me and you guys think the V Wing would be good. Also the V coustic looks interesting. I'm going to make a few more efforts to find these "in person", but if I fail I'll order sight unseen (I'll probably get both V coustic and V wing). If you guys haven't had a problem I'll feel alot better about it.

I'm pretty much just wondering how much something like this would be worth. I've thought about going over to the BLS forums and asking there. But chances are, I'll just get a lot of douchebaggary over there. So I'm asking here. Once again, I'm just wondering how much this could be worth. Although, if I get the right offer...it could be yours. The guitar is mint, has never been played. Only strummed a few times. Sorry for the crappy pics, these are all I have. Any questions, feel free to ask. Thanks.
Edit: Oh yeah. It's an Ibanez SCA 220

can't decide which caddy to get! advice please!
Hi, until the last couple of days I was dead set on the 1980 Caddy 3 PUPs as seen here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Dean-Classic-Black-Cadillac-19803PU-3-Pick-ups-1980_W0QQitemZ300088213039QQcategoryZ41435QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
But then I stumbled upon this beauty on ebay

and ever since I just cannot choose between them. They are both so goddam sexy!
Please offer me your opinion on which you would get and reasons for your choice and hopefully it will help me make up my mind.

Fanbase
by BFH on Fri Mar 09, 2007 9:27 am
Wondering about the forum fanbase. Of the listed bands which do you like best?
String guage and brand shipped on Korean Imports?
Anybody know the guage and brand shipped on Dean korean imports? are they 9's, or 10's?
D'addarrios, right?
My concern here is changing strings on the vendetta, and I do not want to throw off the action at all!!!! If I go with the same guage in say, GHS Boomers, does that affect the neck relief due to tension, or am I being silly here.....
My bandmate Chris is the kind of player that can take any guitar and make it sound good.
He'd always own a typical off the shelf guitar. There were nice guitars, but nothing fancy or over the top.
Recently he surprised everyone in the band by actually ordering a custom shop guitar. This guitar is exactly what he wanted. I believe this is the first custom shop guitar he's ever owned.
He got it a few days ago and snapped this photo with his cellphone ---
Calling on the photo shop guru's......
I have a piece of redwood coming my way, can someone do up a V, Z and Iceman bodies with this as a top for me?
I've always wondered why anyone would prefer a guitar without inlays. There are a handful of guitars out there that I would love to get if they only had inlays. I know the fretboard pretty damn well, but I wouldn't risk getting lost if I'm really into a solo and going crazy and need to check to see where I am. Do they still have markers on the side of the fretboard? Those're still not as helpful to me.
Is it strictly a looks thing? Does it make you feel like you're playing without a safety net? Just curious.
I can play a couple of pantera solo's but I want to get them tighter before I post them. For now here's a Metallica solo.

new amp day(mesa roadster)
by zao on Fri Mar 09, 2007 9:12 pm
This badboy is the real deal, I haven't got to spend a lot of time with it but the little I did play it sounded awsome. I'm blown away so far. I there's a lot of tones in this amp, plus its nice to be able to have the cleans in 100w and gain ch in 50w.
Build quility is very solid and doesn't feel cheap. It looks badass too
.
This amp has some really nice clean tones, I was using my tele and the brit mode and the gain around 3 oclock and had a nice low gain rockish tone, fat mode does just that and is a nice big fat clean. I can make it stay clean with no breakup which I really like or I can add some dirt. Pickin intro stuff like fade to black sounds beautiful.
I've owned the rectoverb, dual and triple rects and none of them had a clean this good, it also had the tweed mode which is more fender like and the brit is more marshall clean. Channels 1 and 2 are both cleans.
Ch3 and 4 are the gain channels, I only tried vintage and modern on ch3 and modern on ch4. But the first thing I noticed is that its not as buzzy, it has a clearer sounding gain, I also think the feel and pick attack is a little tighter and the lowed doesn't sag as much. Its gonna take me a while to really find all the tones but there's plenty of them.
I have the 6l6 in it now and I'm gonna leave them in for now. I'm glad mesa built this amp because I liked the rectos but always felt they were too buzzy and loose. It seems they fixed some of that. I would say anybody who's looking for a dual or triple should give the roadster a chance. i had a chance to boost it and it takes well to the od9 i use. there alot of lowend on this amp, i use it with my vht cab and it matches up very good with it.
I will continue to give more updates as I play it more.

Here is the place to go. I just ordered a red cover with silver piping for my new Krank. They are really nice and the work is reasonably priced. http://store.amplifiercovers.com/index.html

1979 Dean ML mapletop sunburst repaired neck value, 1 owner
So, I have seen big bucks for the 79 ML, seems to be becomming rare to find. I got mine new at 19 years of age,
rocked out for years with it! unfortunately way back when mine was "injured" in a stage stunt I did years ago, the neck cracked at the headstock... but had it repaired and it sounds and holds its tuning just as good as new.. but its slightly visible from the back. This part REALLY sucks..... due to need of funds I am thinking of parting with my dearly beloved screamer.
It is ALL original, its just missing one speed knob. All original keys, nut, everything...the serial # is 79 - 1205, any body want to sugest what they would pay for it, I can take some picks, for interested guys, but just getting a general idea for now...? beautiful fire maple grain, i believe it was called sunbirst? I have the origional hard case also, and its mint. I will probably take off the brass V and ring around the jack plug for some polishing. Any help appreciated! Email wpheinz@aol.com, or post here, thanks!

Huge photoshop favor!! Blacked out Black Gold V
by Vekin on Sat Mar 10, 2007 9:29 am
My best friend of 25 years as well as the guitar player in my band is getting married at the end of this month. He is a hardcore Gibson V fan and likes my Deans but is still very partial to his Gibbys. I've asked him for years when he's gonna get a Dean and he has always said when you buy me one. So thats what I'm gonna get him for a wedding gift. I was planning on getting him a 30th aniv. import but they will not be done in time for the wedding. So then I was thinking about having one of the dealers Black out a black 79V for me and install the Duncan Pups he is particular to. But the more I think about it I really love and wanted the Block inlays as well as the bound body and headstock. I'm thinking that could be acomplished by blacking out a Black Gold V and adding the Black Duncans to that. No gold all black. A Black Black if you will. I am now spending quite a bit more than I intended so I was hoping somebody could bust out a quick mock up off what this would look like in Photoshop I messed with it for a couple hours tonight and just couldn't get the look right. I'm pretty good at it too or so I thought. I was picturing it with the Clearblack speed knobs or Black Dime traction knobs or black emg style might not look bad also. That would be king if somebody could help me this! Thanks Kevin.
Ceiling fans and a Razorback dont mix
by Cenobite on Sat Mar 10, 2007 10:16 am
So I had finished a session and went to put the guitar away and as I was lifting it up to unstrap I totally forgot the ceiling fan was on and CRUNCH, the headstock hits the fan taking a nice chunk out of it. Needless to say, I yelled fcuk a lot of times.
Looks salvageable though. Just need to glue the pieces back into place and fill in a gap with putty and get it touched up and it should be like it never happened.
I now have duct tape over the fan switch so it can not be turned on and have this happen again.
AHHHHHHHH I'm seriously pissed off with myself over this.
so I went to my guitar shop today to try out some Caddies and then I saw a gorgeous ML ...
purple/pinkish transburst
gold hardware
3 humbuckers with gold covers
stringthrough
rosewood fretboard
block MOP inlays
...
650€
I looked behind the headstock and it's Korean made
so what is it ? the guy there told me he didn't actually know what model it is and he said he didn't though it was a custom model ...
I'm still shocked ! that thing was incredibly good looking !!!
Dean guitars have always been loved for their playability. (at least that 's one of the things I like about 'em! ) I wanna know how low you guys have been able to get the action on your Dean! Just to get a general idea ya know. So yeah, time for a poll! How low is the action (at the 12th fret, low E) on your Dean? (and what gauge do you use and which tuning?)
The action on my Dean Custom 450 is a little over 2.00 mm, I use 10s and play in standard tuning. A few frets buzz slightly but it's not all that noticable.
country reps! (Might be a new addition to the s.t)
by fr0gg1 on Sat Mar 10, 2007 10:21 pm
i e-mailed debby with the idea of country reps!
pepole frm each conuntry (who are already on the steat team) to be a country leader!
these pepole would need to know allot about the street team and the dean
products on offer!
the country leader would be selected by your willigness to help others, and should be able to answer any
questions that pepole of there country need to know about (e.g.) price of
guitars in £ or euros ect.
if you thik you should be a country rep then tell us what country you come from and why you thin you would make a perfect country rep!
(uk is taken and that will only be 2 places per country maximum!)
pretty good combo amp

Guys...
I just fell in love with this combo amp.. It's the Randall VMAX 30 watt.
THIS THING WAS DISGUSTING!! It has a 12'' speaker and it sounded great. It's super loud, I swear I could gig with it.
If you're looking for a good combo with great gain, crunch, etc. the vmax combo is the combo for you.
I just thought I share that with all of you.
Covers

Ever heard a song and thought about how kickass it would sound if another band covered it? Go ahead and name some off.
I thought alot of slayer songs would sound awesome covered by lamb of god most recently Skeletons of society.
Other Cool ones would be some metallica songs covered by Pantera which we have actually had the priveledge to hear.
What covers would you like to hear? And if you have any videos of awesome covers feel free to post em up.
so Today i walked into guitarcenter and walked out with a new half stack. I was origanally gonna get a peavy 6505+ head a marshall 1960b cab, but they didn't have a new head or marshall cab. so they gave me the floor model head and a 6505 cab. he said he will place an order for a new head the the marshall cab and when it comes in I can switch out the stuff so cool. He also gave me a free monster cable which was cool. this thing sounds amazing, it's a beast. Anybody have any good settings for an early metallica sound or a trivium sound similar to there album axcendency? I post crappy pictures in a minute, ill post better ones in a few days

DOA Mugs-Now Avaliable-only here
by Kragax on Sun Mar 11, 2007 3:33 pm
Brethren,
I have something that you may be interested in. I have entered into a
licensing agreement with Elliot and Dean Guitars in order to offer these to DOA members. This is going to be a limited run of 50 pieces. Can anyone who owns this amp post some sounds clips or care to comment on it? I'm just curious about comparing the cobra with other top of the line amps like the powerball, uber, vht, etc.
Any one got scans or a PDF??? Mine was supposed to come with on but didn't.
I'm going to London from the 14th until 21st of March.
I'm going to see Mastodon at the Forum and Celtic Frost at Koko.
Is there any more cool stuff (gigs) to check out during those days?
... ahh, I'm also going to see Monty Python's SPAMALOT the musical!
Tips on starting my band....
I'v been trying to start a Southern Metal, Crowbar/Down influenced band now for about 3 months, I just cant find anyone at all in my area with the same interest in music, or any interest in a band of this genre. Any tips d00ds?
neither me or my Dad Noisemaker have been on the forums for quite a while. i've been absent because of work and stuff, but my Dad has been really sick lately....
Noisemaker has lung cancer and more cancer in other parts of his body including his back, adrenal gland, ect. ect. ect.....
He is a victim of the mose horrible disease known to man, and he is going to die in a couple days...maybe a couple weeks, but it is to late for any hope of life, he is terminal.
im not telling you guys for sympathy or anything, we have a great family and i have all the sympathy i need, im just letting you know that Noisemaker will not be posting on the forum anymore.
Thank You all for being his friends in his later years of life, the Dean Forums was a place he enjoyed being at, it brought him happiness and relieved stress.
if you want i will keep you posted on his situation as the days go by...PLEASE!!! keep Terry (Buck) Hampshire JR. in your thoughts
thank you all sincerely

Cadillac Select - when did they make ...
Anyone know when they stopped making the Cadillac Selects with the Red Quilt tops? How long were they available with that top?
Saw a gorgeous one a while back and wish I bought it.
I'm not usually big on red guitars or quilt tops for that matter but this one was really nice.
Matt Heafy's New Razorback V
Appears to just be plain black with gold hardware and EMGs..
I personally hate it...it looks so weird on him.
Over the last week and a half, my playing has REALLY improved. I've become a better rhythm player and a way better lead player. I've gotten better at sight playing too.
I owe this to joining Era of Genocide.
During some songs I have to make up solos on the spot, and that has really helped my lead playing flow. Playing with a drummer and another guitarist is what has increased my rhythm..
I'm really excited about it.
Now all I need is a Dean.
FLANGER/DOUBLER FOR 64 BUCKS????
AH HA!!!
Im fooking excited!!!

Caitlin playing her Dean live on stage
by brn14me on Mon Mar 12, 2007 4:43 am
My 11 year old daughter, Caitlin, had her Rock School performance today at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. There were 15 bands that played 2 songs each ranging from one band with a second grader and one of all adults. Most bands were made up of middle and high schoolers. She sang backing vocals and played You Really Got Me by The Kinks and sang but played very little of Back in Black. It was a killer day and she rocked the house!
She was the only one with a Dean and the only pointy of the day. We had 20 people with us and there were easily over a hundred there including the other bands.
Here are a few pics!
Rocking out to the Kinks
Her band had two guitarists and one drummer. Their teacher played bass off to the side.

USA TC question

I am looking into getting a new USA TC ML w/ floyd and I was wondering why these are less expensive than other new USA made Deans. Anyone know?
Marshall law
by Blazer on Mon Mar 12, 2007 6:51 pm
Okay I guess with me buying a Gibson SG a month or two ago it was a sign for me to stop mucking around and get some serious gear.
And so with a lucky break and through selling a lot of my Junk I could buy myself one of these.
This Marshall Half stack was surprisingly affordable and it doesn't sound bad at all. I don't use the built in effects at all, just going from clean to overdrive will do. And talk about overdrive, this halfstack delivers all the crunch I could ask for, I can go from just a filthy edge to full balls to the wall distortion with just the click of the foot switch.
And as I learned, my strat is equally at home with the sound coming from this monster.
So my house will be a noisy place for the next couple of weeks while I'm breaking it in.
This is a little off (stupid ebay find) *updated with link*
I emailed the seller and asked for better pictures a few days ago and got no response. It look like it has 22 frets to me and I can see the rails on the dimebucker and just make out the pole pieces on the neck pu. Whats this guy trying to pull? Does any body else see it or am I halucinating?
Sorry:

Does anybody out there own a Diablo? Actually, any info about Genz Benz is cool, I LOVE these amps...
Thanks in advance...
So here I come with another question ...
I've been looking for a replacement guitar for my SG lately and yes I've already asked some info about the Pro Series and the 30th anniv MLs (yes yes I know forgive me) ... but my budget will be a bit less than I expected because I couldn't work during the holidays in February and because I don't think I'll be able to work during the Easter holidays either ... so I think I'll be able to gather let's say 500€ but not before the summer holidays
so that makes 500 + 250 (the price I should get for my SG) -> 700-750€ (900-950$)
so it's be OK if I want to buy an import 30th anniv ML but not enough for a new Pro Hardtail (I can't really buy used from the US because of the lack of warranty it makes the thing kinda risky to ship to Europe I think)
the problem is that lately I've been using my floyd A LOT, learning by Satch or Vai and others ... yesterday I broke a string on my MLF and I had to play on my SG and those songs didn't sound right without the little floyd vibratos and all the little tricks you do with a floyd
so I thought maybe I should get another floyded guitar then ... one would stay in standard EADGBe and the other would be either in 1/2 tone down or 1 and 1/2 tone down
the thing is I don't see many alternatives to the MLF since I'm not a big fan of the Razorback and Vendetta shapes ...
so the main questions are:
- should I get a non-floyded guit even though I think I'd play it less often than my MLF ?
- what could I buy in that range of prices ? I mean Dean-like ... cause I also have an eye on other brands but let's not debate about this here ...
PS: sorry for the long annoying post ...

Problem with my FBD
by xero_uk on Mon Mar 12, 2007 11:43 pm
Hey all,
Im having a small problem with my FBD. I discovered last week when pulling extreme bends on my high e, the string keeps getting caught on the 5th fret wire and today I was casually playing along and the string was actually UNDER the wire of the 2nd fret. I think its just the fret wires are abit to wide for the neck.
Anyone else have a problem like this? How did you fix it...or didn't you?
Thanks in advance

How might I add a Floyd Rose
by colin.p on Tue Mar 13, 2007 2:02 am
I love floyd roses and would like to add one to my guitar Ml79. I know i probably should have saved up back then and gotten an mlf but i didnt want to wait. Is it possible to add one now, or is the body not big enough, also there is of course the string thru design. Darn I wish i had saved up. Thanks for dealing with my stupidity.

Questions on Dean Imports
by bobt on Tue Mar 13, 2007 5:24 pm
Does anybody know what the CE sticker means? Dose that mean it's from Korea?
Also the Black and Gold series....Is that better then the 79, maybe an upgraded guitar?
This has most likely been addressed in the past but some of the more recent people on the Dean board, including myself, may like to know, what qualifies a Dean owner to be a member of the Bastard club?
Is it you must own a prototype and a pre '81 Dean, or will just one or the other do and is it more than that?
Do other Bastards vote one in to the Bastard Club; or is it just self-proclaimed?
What other than bragging rights does one get for being a Dean Bastard other than the obvious?
How many Bastards are there now, is there an actual head count?
Pawnshop Gold: Randall RG 200es
I already posted this in a different category and thought this category would probably get a better response.
I was in the pawn shop the other day and came across a Randall RG 100 classic head, needless to say I had to plug in and see what it was all about. The distorion on this thing was pretty weak sauce in terms of metal tones. The owner tried to make some deals but it wasnt worth the buy so I told him I was lookin for an es series. He told me to hang on for a sec, went in the back, and came out with an all black head saying Merry Christmas. Upon closer inspection it turned out to be an RG 200es. It has the clean channel and distortion channel each with a 3 independent eq section and a sustain boost switch on the distortion channel and missing the back panel. Anyways I played it and it sounded alot better than the classic with more distorion but no where near dimes gain. After a little haggling he let it out the door for 200 bucks. Now I got a boost in front of it and the thing just f*&^*@ rips! Does anyone kknow anything about this amp? Was it a good buy?

Dose anybody have a REAL 1980 Caddy, and the reissue 80's
by bobt on Tue Mar 13, 2007 6:07 pm
The reason I ask is I had a real 80 caddy....it played like greased lightning....and it was at the least 9lb's . The reissue is about 8. But I'm more concerend with the neck profile........does it play and feel like a real 80 Caddy????????
getting a razorback explosion next week sometime
yep its nearly ther time,a guitar shop in sydney is importing the razorback for me,they only had shards one in the shop and it looks badass but ive only ever wanted explosion, any comments on your explosion experience would be greatly appreciated,i will post pics when mine arrives, the guy at guitar shop said there was backorders on this model worldwide and i was lucky to be getting one,any truth to this?
Production runs vs. prototypes????
How much do production runs typically differ from prototypes????
I recall seeing some guitars here that end up being very different from the prototypes.
I'm definetly getting a Soltero SL and I don't mind waiting. But I'm concerned about them being different then the proto. I thought the proto was amazing, I wouldn't change a thing on it.
BLOYD - v3 Web site
by BLOYD on Wed Mar 14, 2007 12:44 am
WWW.BLOYD.NET
Finally I’ve launched version 3 of the web site. This has been a challenge because I’ve been mega busy kick starting the new band so the solo work has taken a back seat. I was able to squeeze in time here and there to get this done…but from here on out the band is really the focus. More news on that soon.
As for the site I’ve made some changes…the new site reflects the solo moniker BLOYD.NET. Brianloyd.com is being set aside for some more personal stuff I’m working on.
Peace Out Dean brothas!

How awesome can a band get?
And it's only three guys.
Tomorrow I was going to take my Dean from Hell up to a local guitar store here and have him set up my guitar in C G C F A D (drop c). Usually for this tuning I use 10-46 gauge strings. The guitars I use this on are all stop tail pieced guitars or string thru.. And the string tention isn't ''loose'' or really really floppy or anything but they still aren't super snug. My question is.. Is this gauge going to be ok for this tuning on a floyded guitar or will the bridge not set right? Has anyone done this?
for those of you who have Comcast and on demand. just letting you's know that theres alot of different peddal reviews and theres a Razorback review. and a 20 minute video with van halen talking about his guitar replica.
just thought id share it with you guys.
Hey guys... I need the piano notes for "In This River" by BLS.
My friend and I are ganna cover it, but we can't find any decent notes for it.. so If any of you guys have it ... give me a link or shoot me a PM.
Not tabs though.
Thanks guys.
does anyone know the tab for the tapping part on 2:53? ive been trying to figure it out but no luck.

How would I go about getting my Dixie Rebel to get the sound of ACDC and Guns and Roses, that late 70's 80's type sound....
Thanks
Hey guys, I kinda need some advice - i recently quit my band (www.myspace.com/bloodofash) - the reason you might ask yourself??
Well they signed a record deal while i was away (thats why i havent been around for a while!) that basically is screwing them over - Not blowing my own horn or anything but i have been playing in bands for over 11 years and studied music business to degree level - and i took one look at the contract and refused to sign my name to it....
Anyways, i'll stop rambling on... i'm getting all my guitar stuff out and taking pictures of it all and showing all you to make me feel better... Any offers on the Stealth or the 5150 half stack please let me know - all the rest will stay with me til my dying day even if i dont ever play in another band again....
you all know what this is.....

MAB's new Dean Double arrives! (Pic inside)
There are several names for MAB's new double that are being kicked around since the guitar doesn't have an 'official' name yet. The top 3 are:
1) The MAB Dean 'Diablo' Double
2) The MAB Dean 'Xtreme'
3) The MAB Dean 'Xplosion'

by Blazer on Thu Mar 15, 2007 1:59 am
As a back up for my Gibson SG. I bought the cheapest version, so I could modify it it without having to feel guilty about doing so. It obviously doesn't give my Gibson a run for it's money but I'm rather impressed by the quality of the guitar, it's way better than the "Kinor" SG Knock off which was one of my first electric guitars (I still have it but I never play it) which had a plywood body and pickups which recieved transmissions from Sovyet radio.
Maybe I'll fit some Seymour Duncan pickups later.
I wanted to share that I snagged a mesa 20/20, Aluminum faced. Re-tubed it with a matched set, breakup early, from Bob at Euro. Thanks again Bob!
I did a little research, and asked around, then heated up the soldering iron and went ahead and did the Deep Mod on it a day after I recieved it. Took me less than 30 minutes.
Holy hell this thing kicks some ass!
I am afraid to play through it because it sounds so good and breaks up so nicely that I don't want to stop. I may get behind in my work because of it.

Some forgotten shred guitar players
by flah on Thu Mar 15, 2007 6:14 pm
I noticed in the 22 guitar questions, a lot of y'all are pretty young, and into Dimebag, Paul Gilbert, Akira Takasaki, etc.
I know this is unsolicited but if y'alls are into shredding stuff, I wanna recommend you guys check out:
Vito Bratta from White Lion, the solo from "Wait" is awesome.
Steve Lynch from Autograph, the solo from "Turn Up The Radio" is also cool.
Nuno Bettencourt from Extreme, damn, that guy's an all around awesome musician, though if you're not into Gary Cherone's vocals, it might be hard to listen to. The guitar solo from "Get The Funk Out" is insane.
Tony MacAlpine had some great solo albums. He currently plays for Steve Vai's band, but check out the albums "Edge of Insanity" and "Maximum Security". Tony's also an incredible keyboard player.
Vinnie Moore's "Mind's Eye" and "Time Odyssey" were great albums, though I've always thought he was better live than his albums portray.
If you haven't heard Yngwie's work on the first Alcatrazz album, it's some of his best stuff. I've heard Nevermore jamming on the harmony to "Jet To Jet" in their solo/duet spot. Yngwie's Eruption-styled guitar solo is in the intro to "Hot On Your Heels" on the first Steeler album.
Brad Gillis and Jeff Watson do some awesome dual lead stuff on "You Can Still Rock In America" by Night Ranger. They did some awesome stuff live on "Eddie's Comin Out Tonight" too.
Oh yeah, and check out Allan Holdsworth's playing on "Metal Fatigue". He's very fusiony but his soloing and chords are just wild.
For more super shred - the most incredible guitarist I've ever heard that doesn't sound like a guitar player is Frank Gambale. Check out "Credit Reference Blues" from his Live album - that stuff sounds like a sax.
And Al DiMeola is smoking on Al DiMeola/John McLaughlin/Paco DeLucia's album "Friday Night In San Francisco". Heck, they're ALL smokin.
Some other names to check out: David T. Chastain, Bill Connor, Steve Morse, and Ronnie LeTekro.
if you listin to Machine Head
where can i find a picture of the lead singers custom B.C. Rich, i saw them live and he had a sick ass clear/red warlock and i wanted to find a picture of it, can any of youse help meh out?
I have cut and pasted and finally came up with
10 guitarsolos from 10 different songs.
GUESS THE SONG
Your mission is to guess the songs and band
based on the solo alone. You get bonus cred
for guessing the guitarist as well
GOOD LUCK !!
michale ammot signature randall head anyone?
statement released from krank.
| Quote: |
We here at Krank just wanted to clear up a few things that we’ve been hearing about and seeing on other forums. There has been some talk about Michael Amott from Arch Enemy leaving Krank for Randall Amps. We wish Mike the best and are sure the new Arch Enemy music will kick ass. However what really needs to be addressed is all the talk of why Michael left and the situation surrounding it.
In December we fired our artist relations person Jody Dankberg, who was then and still is a minority owner in Krank Amplification LLC, for unethical business practices amongst other issues that were detrimental to the company. Jody has apparently since been hired by Randall Amps as a artist relations rep there as he is now listed on their website as such, and judging from postings we’ve seen on various internet forums that seem to be from a Randall representative, they are apparently trying to gather as many Krank artists as they can now that Jody is a Randall employee. Michael Amott has a relationship with Jody that started with Krank, and as we can only assume at this point right along side with the rest of you that his relationship coupled with the thought of a signature model, as well as financial benefit, came into play. We’ve never heard his direct reasons other than he “decided to move on”, but now there’s the Michael Amott signature Randall Ninja V2 head and truthfully Michael is a great guy and good for him if that’s what he wants now. Whether it will sound as good remains to be seen and is purely a subjective thing. However we’re aware of other Krank artists being contacted by Randall as well as nasty rumors being spread to not only artists but dealers as well about Krank apparently being in some sort financial trouble, which a blatant lie. These rumors appear to be originating from Chicago as we’ve heard from industry sources, coincidentally, or not so coincidentally, the home of US Music, both Randall and Washburn Guitars’ parent company. All we can say is that things are very well in Krankland as the company is doing great and we have some great new products arriving this year. Normally we wouldn’t even address such rubbish but too often in this business vicious rumors left unchecked become problematic and we feel that our name is being drug through the mud a bit here.
Just to clarify Krank has never in the existence of the company paid for an artist to play our gear (including Michael Amott), and a very, very small percentage of our artists have ever received free gear from us. Every endorsee we’ve earned by simply making a cool amp with great tone that they want to play, and obviously we must be doing something right as we have some of the best in the biz playing our amps and playing them based solely on the fact they like the gear. Not to mention we are approached on a daily basis by artists, both big and small, simply because they feel that we make a great product. We’ve been told by many of the top industry professionals we deal with that they’ve never seen an amp company become so successful so quickly and we’re poised to grow a lot more in the near future. At the end of the day you either have killer tone or you don’t and that’s all that really matters, and that’s where Krank Amplification is happy to let things stand and be decided.

Whenever he uses the trem (in a different way, I.e he could do pullups and it wont creak then he divebombs and it creaks and he can dive bomb without it creaking but when he pulls up again it will creak) the neck (or nut?) will creak, noticabley. It did look like his nut was kinda worn down from usuage but is that the cause? Will anything stop it?
From Blabbermouth:
Krank Amplification, the Arizona-based company which designs and manufactures guitar amplifiers, has released the following statement regarding its recent split with former endorsee Michael Amott of ARCH ENEMY:
"We here at Krank just wanted to clear up a few things that we've been hearing about and seeing on other forums. There has been some talk about Michael Amott from ARCH ENEMY leaving Krank for Randall Amps. We wish Mike the best and are sure the new ARCH ENEMY music will kick ass. However what really needs to be addressed is all the talk of why Michael left and the situation surrounding it.
"In December we fired our artist relations person Jody Dankberg, who was then and still is a minority owner in Krank Amplification LLC . . . Jody has apparently since been hired by Randall Amps as a artist relations rep there as he is now listed on their website as such, and judging from postings we've seen on various Internet forums that seem to be from a Randall representative, they are apparently trying to gather as many Krank artists as they can now that Jody is a Randall employee. Michael Amott has a relationship with Jody that started with Krank, and as we can only assume at this point right alongside with the rest of you that his relationship, coupled with the thought of a signature model, as well as financial benefit, came into play. We've never heard his direct reasons other than he 'decided to move on,' but now there's the Michael Amott signature Randall Ninja V2 head and truthfully Michael is a great guy and good for him if that's what he wants now. Whether it will sound as good remains to be seen and is purely a subjective thing. However we're aware of other Krank artists being contacted by Randall as well as nasty rumors being spread to not only artists but dealers as well about Krank apparently being in some sort financial trouble, which a blatant lie. . . All we can say is that things are very well in Krankland as the company is doing great and we have some great new products arriving this year. Normally we wouldn't even address such rubbish but too often in this business vicious rumors left unchecked become problematic and we feel that our name is being drug through the mud a bit here.
"Just to clarify, Krank has never in the existence of the company paid for an artist to play our gear (including Michael Amott), and a very, very small percentage of our artists have ever received free gear from us. Every endorsee we've earned by simply making a cool amp with great tone that they want to play, and obviously we must be doing something right as we have some of the best in the biz playing our amps and playing them based solely on the fact they like the gear. Not to mention we are approached on a daily basis by artists, both big and small, simply because they feel that we make a great product. We've been told by many of the top industry professionals we deal with that they've never seen an amp company become so successful so quickly and we're poised to grow a lot more in the near future. At the end of the day you either have killer tone or you don't and that's all that really matters, and that's where Krank Amplification is happy to let things stand and be decided."
Ok,
I'm sure this has been done before but I'm new here so humor me...

My new Mo Tele No Tele project -
by Mike9 on Fri Mar 16, 2007 8:04 pm
I've been working on this the past month and hey - the Fed Ex guy just pull up with my tuners - Woo Hoo. Anyway - this is a Warmoth hollow Tele body with alder back and killer flame maple top, tummy cut, forarm countour & I had them rout for a tele neck pup in the middle. I carved the heel contour and washed it with an amber stain then sanded the top back, stained sanded, etc. Then I shot it with clear nitro as thin as I could get away with, wet sanded and buffed to a high gloss. The neck is Warmoth Vintage Modern w/pau ferro board & 6150 frets. Bridge is a Wilkinson with locking saddles, the pickups are Suhr with reverse wound tele neck pup in the middle. I made the control plate from flame maple and sapele veneers and gave it what I hope becomes my signiture "rocket" shape. 5-way switch handles standard Strat switching. I might try to make a thinner plate next week and use a concentric pot so it'll be a cleaner look. Klusons will handle the tuning chores. This thing is light as a feather and has a great tap tone - it should sound killer. Anyway - here's some pics I can't wait to finish this baby.
buller? buller? anyone?
Some quick pics of the Soltero. More later!
Finish - Vintage 2 Tone
Hardware all black
Custom shop installed Bare Knuckle Rebel Yells (custom wind)
Custom Shop installed Black Schaller Straplocks

NEW GUITAR DAY( ESP KH-20)
by zao on Sat Mar 17, 2007 12:00 am
I JUST PICKED IT UP AND ITS BADASS.
i think ive always been honest in the past with my reviews, so i will do my very best to describe this guitar. theres alot of hype around it and a big price tag which makes it very hard for people to really grasp what its about. ive owned the following custom shop esp guitars, kh2 bolt on, kh3 bolt on, kh4 neckthru,kh2 relic 17, and a jh2. all of them were well crafted. i can honestly say that this guitar has more attention to detail than all of them, the frets are polished like chome and make the guitar easy to play, the ebony has a smooth as a babys ass feel to it, the inlay work is excellent and the materials used look great, the action on mine was really low so i need to raise it a bit. the clearcoat on the back of the necks feels good and i think suits this guitar. i love the color, its a nice shade of trans black grey and shows the flame in the maple better than alot of trans black finishes. the case is hands down the coolest looking case ive seen and its well constructed. the neck shape is perfect for me and is a breeze to play on, my guitar im gonna say weighs in the low to mid 8lbs range and resonates really well for a guitar with a floyd.
and has loads of sustain. i do not like the ash tray at all.
now you ask how does it sound----well its one of the clearest sounding guitars ive ever owned, hamonics seem to leap of the fretboard, i know that pinch harmonics depend on the player but they are really effortless and the natural hamonics sound great, this guitar is very bright natured and that has to do with the ebony, maple top and neck, and alder body, along with emg 81 pickps. i find it almost too bright with the 81 so im gonna replace it with a 85 to beef it up a little, i played it with my roadster, uberschall, and powerball so far and i think it sounded best with the uber and powerboner. those amps are dark and with the brightness i think it balances it out a little better. i found myself having to turn up the depth and bass and lower the treble more than the other guitars i play. but once i tuned it in i was really loving the guitar. i own and have owned some great gear so i know a good guitar when i play one and this is a great guitar.
now the hard part and the most honest part for me is the price, at 10k i would never have paid it or desired to, at the price i did pay which was alot lower than that so i found it in my heart to buy the guitar, do i think its worth 10k,,no i do not, do i think its worth the 6500 i paid, hmmm.
its hard to judge a guitars worth, i would say no guitars is worth more than 5k. but im a metallica fan, i liked the limited edition part, i liked the cosmetics, i wanted to own this guitar badly. i love esp guitars and i love custom shop quality. i still feel its a overpriced guitar if your just buying it for the guitar part. but if you love metallica and like a collectable guitar that there arent alot of and you like the whole 20th limited edition part with the upgrades and cool case then maybe it is worth it to you. it was worth it to me or i wouldnt have bough it.

I'm looking at purchasing a Fender DH-1 humbucker for my US strat plus. It seems the only place to get them is ebay. Fender sells the Seymour Fenderized Pearly gates humbucker on their website. My question is what is the difference between these (I can't find dh-1 spec anywhere but I played one and like it). Secondly why are they not being sold over the counter? Seems weired to me. Anyone have experience with this?
Thanks

Musiq Soulchild on Leno .... and the drummer was playing what I think was a ddrum Dominion set!

Okay, say you had:
1. Boss FV-500L Volume Pedal
2. Electro Harmonix Big Muff
3. Morley Bad Horsie 2
4. Dunlop Rotovibe
5. Boss DD-3 Digital Delay
6. Boss OC-3 Super Octave
7. Boss TR-2 Tremelo
8. MXR M-108 Ten Band EQ
9. MXR Smart Gate
What order would you probably put these in?
Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum.
I'm looking into a new guitar and keeping my options open. Right now, I'm looking into the Black Gold V, a Moser BVi or MVi, or a Jackson RR24.
Any suggestions?
How are the gold V's?
Hey guys. I used to own a korg ax1500g and I sold it at a stupidly low price. I always missed it and now I think I might buy another one unless someone has a suggestion for a better multi fx pedal around the same price. I can get one for about £120. Any ideas?
I remember when the Soltero was introduced, there was much discussion on the large heel.
At DOA I didn't really notice the heel, I just strapped on the guitar and played the song.
I just finished a 2 hour practice session with the Soltero. For my playin technique, I naturally turn my hand a bit when accessing the higher frets. The heel on the Soltero slid down into my palm without me noticing it at all.
Results may vary for others depending on your hand position, but for me the heel is not an issue at all. I didn't notice it, even playing the highest frets.
When will dean give us what we really want?
by BFH on Sat Mar 17, 2007 7:48 pm
I for one am tired of waiting for Dean to make some cool guitars.
I mean seriously where are the razorback-coustics, evos and caddys? And when are they gonna start putting more floyds on acoustics? Whatever happened to the quad-coustic? Not to mention 26 fret guitars(and yes the two frets really make a difference). Im just outraged that the heafy razorback isn't a production model! And where are the shart-burst finishes? I really think every guitar should come with a duffelbag full of bacon too.
/Rant over
A post with a link to NDC - but man is it cool!!!
I hope this post wil serve 2 purposes.
1. I don't "hate" ANY manufacturer...
2. THIS IS ONE NICE guitar!!!! *EDIT* I have begged Dean to do a Zebrawood ML...*
(Check the paint on this one!)

Obviously due to the prick selling them I can't buy one but there MIGHT be a Dealer within the sound of my voice that can makes something happen...
can you paint on the fretboard?
I was thinkin that since my MLNXT wont have the inlays if I could paint little designs on it? nothing big just same fine line kinda stuff? And if so is there something special I shold use?
I don't want to ruin it so thought I'd check
Thanks
Truss cover replacements?
I don't know how many of you know what the truss cover on an ML Noir XT looks like, but it just looks odd. IT's just an M with an L like, 1/4 of an inch away from it. I'd like to get a replacement for it that looks better. Does anyone know where I can get any? Even if it's just blank I'd like it.

Went to a place in S. Bend, Indiana today that had Deans everywhere!
Banjo's too! I think I played everyone of them. Had a great time. I quit smoking a few weeks ago (about $200 a month worth ) So my guitar habit is going to get a good shot in the arm. They had a really nice USA hardtail that I liked. It'll be mine in less then 6 months.
Lamb of god, Milwaukee Show March 14th?
was anybody else but me there? what was lamb of gods setlist? i have the whole list except for 2 songs and im dying to find out what they were, help me out please
So, Now after I get a job, a new amp, I want a nice, non-Floyd, Dean guitar. At first, I was thinking a '79 black V. Then I get a Metal Man Z base, black, and I'll have the 3 main Deans. But, I recently was looking at the Razorback DB too. Not Floyded, not in a scheme I don't like, and good to test out a paintjob I have drawn on paper I made for it. Which would be a better overall choice?
EDIT: Btw, I personally don't care about set or bolt-on. I don't know if that makes a difference of not. Plus I will be swapping out the pups for something else. Probably some BL 500s or Dimebuckers or something.
I know this will get completely..
..Biased responses, but what's the best type of amps, and why?

i just got back from GC....was checking out Strats....
i've gone thru several Strats but hadn't found the one for me...
tried a couple of EJs again and just didn't care for 'em....never got to the plugitin stage...they just don't feel good to me...
tried a couple of USA Strats....no different than the ones i've had, in fact, not as good as the last one i sold....
tried the SRV and really liked it....liked the fatter neck but a bit worried cuz i liked the wide fat necks of the PRS SE EGs i've had at first but later found it difficult to get used to....
tried the Mayer Strat and was impressed with it's smoother mellower tone and especially it's playability....neck is in between the SRV and a standard Strat neck....
A/Bed the 2 back n forth for a while....thought the SRV was nicer looking but preferred the Mayer's tone and playability...
would liked to have bought both but bought the Mayer....sunburst...got a good deal by insisting on a nice hard case instead of the INCASE bag, (Fender CS brown G&G case) and $80 off the price...
does anybody here use the randall v2 head?if so,are they as good as they seem, and what randall cabinet would go best with the v2 head?if possible, could someone who owns it post some pictures up.THANKS

So who's going? Talking to Matt (DeanUK) and he says we're gonna be treated to a pretty tasty selection of Deans, courtesy of Bill Lewington. Lots of USA's and everythin else. And, on the Saturday, there's a couple of Steve Vai masterclasses on Saturday, which make it all the more worthwhile.
I think I'm gonna do a couple of days there, the Friday and the Saturday.
Who's with me?

Hey guys can you give me the lowdown on redwood? Aside from looking amazing are there any special qualities to it over say mahogany for example?
PRS Private Reserve guitars
Yesterday I took my Soltero down to my buddies guitar shop. He sells PRS and Gibson (the high quality models of each).
He showed me some photos of the PRS Private Stock guitars. Amazing!!!! Some were a little gaudy for my taste, but most were stunning. They reminded me of the old days when Gibson used to make highly ornamental guitars (the Les Paul Artisan and the various high budget jazz boxes).
The Singlecut Jumbo Archtop Private Reserve floored me. I guess it was around $10,000 Amazing guitar though!
Kramer NOT incoming... s#%t!!

Rare to find where I live, and it's cheap too
http://www.blocket.se/vi/11233408.htm?ca=15_s
The price (1500kr) is about 200 dollars
Looks like an Ibanez headstock though
How are these old kramers anyway? I've never tried one actually
There's Jake E Lee, that inspired me to look cool
while playing, he also has a certain thing for the blues
which I explored through him.
There's George Lynch that inspired me to play
cool/sexy leads.
Zakk Wylde taught me harmonics, country music
and Black Sabbath gone heavy. I once bought
an Epiphone LesPaul Special because of him,
but I sold it a few years back.
Yngwie Malmsteen showed me those harmonic minors
and the economy picking, and sweep picking to a certain degree.
Marty Friedman got me into the japanese music.
I also tend to use the hirajoshi scale from time to time
and Akira Takasaki has some of the coolest guitars
so I built my white star based on him. He's also
similar too Lynch and Lee.
Akira showed me Gary Moores metal era, and
I can't get enough of that
How has your influences shaped your playing ?
Please, do tell but try keep it down to 5-6 of 'em

Well since the blood-red quilt V seems to have died my quest for the floyded V must continue.
How about this, exactly. But Black, White or Red?
V neck
X2N
Upgraded ping floyd (or possibley OFR)
Pearl or abalone blocks would look good if it was white or black
So what do you think?
I was practicing today and I thought I'd record some of the Soltero.
This isn't a pro mix or anything, just a drum track I was jamming to. I'm just hitting some chords and doing some gallups.
DON'T EXPECT AMAZING SOUND QUALITY
The point of the clip is so that you can hear the amazing tight low notes on the Soltero. The low E gallup is super tight and you can hear every nuance of my picking -

Our jam space is small and our drummer with his double bass and 12 cymbals is really loud on his Ludwig kit. My ears sound like they're plugged for 2 days after a practice. I know there are earplugs for musicians that block out highs or something so I figured somebody here could recommend something.

In between binge drinking this weekend i finally finished it up....
Since i got it i:
- I totally sanded it down sealed the grain..
- Routed it for a kahler fulcrum trem. Counter sunk it so it could be a full floater...
- Filled in two of the knob holes..
- painted it with duplicolor spray paint ( base coat color coat clearcoat)
- Finish sanded it down to 2000 grit and polished it.. (coulda done better but i got tired of frackin with it)..
- Sheilded all the cavities
- Installed a lock nut and wilkerson locking tuners
- installed a wilburn custom shop ( kent armstrong) metal bucker
her she is .... be nice i know it is bright.. but it is an 80's guitar with a spray paint paint job...what do you expect...!!
AFTER:
I haven't played it too much but first impressions are great... this guitar has a really nice v profiled neck.. i still haven't intonated it or anything bus the trem is killer.. it zero's out really nice.. the metal bucker is really hot for a passive pickup (20 on the ohm meter) but i really haven't given it a workout yet because everyone was sleeping..
BBE Sonic Stomp
by TXC123 on Mon Mar 19, 2007 5:49 pm
Just picked this up and it makes your amp sound like a muffle has been taken off. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants the amp to have crushing ballsy tone, The clean sound is greatly improved on your amp as well. I ran this thru the input first and it seemed to do nothing, but when I put it in thru the effects loop it came to life. 100 bucks to make your amp sound amazing is a good deal. TRY IT OUT
Kinda random Dime Question
which guitars did he use in his videos, like i know they were washburn and dean... but like which models and whatnot? like i know in the revolution is my name video he has the cracked glass model, and the this love he had the red, but which other guitars did he use, i cant tell some of them... and yes i realize this is kinda a below 70 IQ type question and i really dont want a bunch of smartass comments...
anyone played one of these?
http://www.rondomusic.net/sst57.html
does anyone have or haveplayed one of these because i realy love the sound of single coil strats and ive heard good things about these and for the price i dont think i could go wrong.
Got a reminder email sent to me by ticketmaster for LOG/Trivium this friday, and underneath it had the upcoming Jagermeister tour and Down listed. I haven't heard ANYTHING about Down touring, but apparently they're hitting Roseland in NYC March 31st. Anyone have any news about this? I may go, but the lack of information is kind of holding me back.
I'm thinking about buying a low end baritone guitar. What pups would you recommend to replace the stock ones?
Would a SD JB work on such a low tuned guitar?

A less expensive guitar with Neck Through Body
Why is it almost impossible to find a guitar with neck through body that won't cost you an appendage to buy??? I've seen them for as low as about $700 but the guitar didn't have any other features I would have liked. Surely import model guitars could be equipped with neck thru without costing $1000 and still maintaining the features the consumer expects.
I was searching for Dean pics and found this ...
what model is this ? first time I ever see a beveled ML ... was it custom made ?
looks really hot !

WELL KEWLEST SINCE THE JENNA JAMESON VIDEOS.
Youtube is a hell of a drug, (Nevermore content)
Got into these guys lately, and spent a good part of my night browsing youtube, something I do every month or two.
So I'm watching videos of Jeff Loomis tearing peoples' faces off, and come across this video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmYUEUCQkBI
Nevermore - The Sound of Silence
Which is apparently a Simon and Garfunkel song. Ok so I go watch the original version, and then a version by some teenage girl playing an acoustic and singing, and then somehow come across a version done by 2 kids I know from highschool, playing a cover of the original version in my highschool cafeteria.

After laughing a bit at the coincidence, I thought I'd share this story with you guys, both because I'm bored and I think its humorous.
I guess I am the only one who noticed. Anyway post some Memoribilia of him.
Here he is playing a Dean!

probably the first one to suffice,
specs straight from Chris Catero:
Thanks for the inquiry on the new Rev Jr. micro stack. It was geared more for the bedroom/practice or small gig environment. It's an 20W all tube dual channel head (2 6V6's, 3 12AX7's) with boost switch and active effects loop. One thing I should mention is the 1x12 cabs will handle a 100W head for home studio use so they serve multiple purposes. We're still not absolutely sure on either the street date or price but at this point it's looks like they should be available somewhere around the end of April/early May and will be in the $899 MAP price range for the full stack. It will also be available as a half stack as well (*NOTE: the head will not be sold separately). Hope that answers your q's! It's going to be a killer new product in the stores!
So after spending all day at the Houston zoo with the wife and kid-
then another hour in traffic, I had all but 15 minutes to load up the guitars and amp, cab etc and drive another 30 minutes to band rehearsal for 6 upcoming shows this and next month..
I'm the new lead player and have to learn 75 songs FAST-
(got 20 or so down so far)
Problem is, that I would have never considered playing most of these tunes. Sure they sound good but I'm more of a shredder from the Malamsteen, Vai school...
Now I'm doing everything from 3 days grace to weezer to VH and nickelback & more..
So- I'm exhausted and had to endure 4 hours of rehearsal on music that purely bores me- *end rant*
Anyone else in a band situation like this?
What the flying f#$@ are you doing to keep the music interesting and tolerate practice and learn the drab tunes???

Computer/Home audio speakers Logitech z5500 review!
So I just bought new speakers, the Logitech z-5500 5.1 setup, for $300 from amazon. I upgraded from the z-640 5.1 setup.
I love hearing the best quality audio possible, which is why I bought Sony DJ headphones for home listening, and it was time for a speaker upgrade. The old ones didn't slouch, but for $60 you get what you paid for, the bass was a little lacking etc.
These new speakers are INSANE! The bass is near retarded when you crank it, and the mids are very crisp. I've only done an hour or so of testing, but I am incredibly impressed. It may have seemed like a huge pricetag at first, but considering they double as home audio speakers for whenever I get a nicer TV, I'm pretty happy with myself. There are multiple settings for everything from music to DVD watch etc, and on the control panel you can change the sub/center/satellite volume individually.
Cons? The sub is GIGANTIC. I made it 3/4ths the way back to my dorm before I had to put the box down and get someone to help me carry it the rest of the way. (I did arms at the gym yesterday, which definitely was a factor though). The satellites are twice the size of my old ones, which clutters the desk a bit more, and the addition of the control panel they give you makes desk space very very tight lol. I'm sure it will all fit perfectly on my home desk, but the dorm one is kinda small.
Pricetag is the only other con I can think of. These speakers are truly amazing, and if you're in the market for computer speakers, or a cheaper home audio system (apparently some go for like $3k?) these are for you.
I'll update this once I do a little more testing.

Practice room soundproofing?????
by tazz888 on Wed Mar 21, 2007 1:58 pm
I'm going to have to build a practice room in my basement. My wife dosen't want to deal with the noise with a baby on the way...
I'm looking for some info on how to go about building a good practice/band room and what works best to keep it as soundproof as possible.
Thanks.

Is there any reason not to get this amp???
Publically guitaring it out, worried about string snappage
by muckers on Wed Mar 21, 2007 2:58 pm
So, basically at school we're all split into houses, right? There's four.
And this year, what with the headmaster pushing for more unity across the year groups, we're all in together and united as forms, if you like. And each form has a chosen charity that they're allowed to raise money for.
Aside from non-uniform days, which are both kinda lacking in originality and fail to raise much money seeing as a lot of people don't cough up, there's not a lot else.
However, we managed to cook something up. Me and two other lads I know were gonna do some kind of public guitar-athon for the whole day. Just playing track after track constantly, set up at the front of school with people asking for donations for teh charity. The music will give the thing attention, and it'll be damn fun too.
Now, thing is, we were gonna do about 2 hours worth of songs each (we'd do half our 'set', break after an hour to have a wrist-rest and rotate around until we're all done and the day is up) and most of mine are songs that are in standard tuning.
My standard tuning guitar is my Razorback, which is floyded (and some of the songs require use of the floyd, being stuff like Cemetery Gates and This Love).
Would the strings, if newly fitted say a day or two before, be able to take the strain of that many songs? Not a great deal use the floyd, but those that do are for stuff like squeals (Cemetary Gates and frackin Hostile being a bit on the heavy side) and if a string were to snap, not only is that most of my set gone (19 out of 22 tracks) but for the remainder of the song it'd sound as if I got a deaf bloke to tune my guitar.
This is the tracklist (Bottom three are for D tuning(s), rest are in E or pitch changed so they are)
The problem is that I don't actually have another floyded guitar - my only electrics are the ones in my user picture on the left there, and I don't know anyone that uses them so having a backup isn't really an option (unless the local guitar shop lends one out, which I seriously doubt they would).
What do you reckon - feasible without string snappage? Should I perhaps order the tracks so that the floyd/squeal tracks are towards the end of my 'E' set and that then if a string snap occurs, it doesn't really matter all that much?
Ozzfest bands confirmed/New Machine Head up for streaming
by dmsdj5 on Wed Mar 21, 2007 3:51 pm
From Blabbermouth:
The main stage of Ozzfest this year will have Ozzy,Lamb of God,and Lordi.Second stage will feature Hatebreed(headliner),Mondo Generator,Ankla,Circus Diablo,Nile, and The Showdown.
I was honestly thinking of taking a roadtrip for ozzfest this year but not anymore!I'm seeing Lamb Of God in 2 weeks so why would I make the trip for this as well?If it comes through your town then I would go for sure, but I only care about 1 1/2 bands on this tour.Good Luck Sharon.
ANYWAYS.....The new Machine Head album is up for streaming on Roadrunner's Australian myspace. It's pretty dang good.

Hmm maybe if I punch out the boss out I could go home, well if I did that I couldn't afford strings so better not
Ok, I don't know about any of you, but I'm starting to REALLY like the Hardtails. Normally I don't care for those "meat and potato" guitars, but man this one just calls out to me. Any opinions?

DRAGONFORCE - Review of Inhuman Rampage
Just picked up Inhuman Rampage
These guys never seem to amaze me. BUY IT if you don't already have it. Worth it just for the guitar work
Yeah, I am into Dungeons & Dragons/Prog Metal bigtime. Bands like Manilla Road, Leige Lord, Fates Warning, Blind Guardian, Crimson Glory, Iron Angel still do it for me at 42 (43 May 1st)
I definitely dig St Vitus, Celtic Frost (Hellhammer), Mastodon, the old Slayer, same w/ Metallica, Metal Church, etc... and a ton more in many genres
One of my favorites is stand alone baroque organ music. The MONSTER organs dudes, Dracula come on home baby music. Fugues frigging rule. Crank it if you really want to feel music. The minor keys are incredible as them pipes pump massive volumes of air. My Infinity's SM-150s shake the entire house. Literally, you can blow a Bic light out at 3 feet from the port
Toccatta's are entrancing and fun to pick out on your axe and rip
Anyway back to Dragon Force... BUY IT
(says to himself...Man this is good weed, I'm blathering on a online forum!) * hangs head sheepishly * WTF, take another hit AHAAHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA then Eyes the Czech V standing in the corner w/ undisguised lust
Later...

here's your chance to hear some good Romanian music !
the band's called "Transsylvania Phoenix" but they're more commonly just known as just "Phoenix"
they started out in the 60's as a western music cover band so they had major problems with the communist governement ... had to change their band name several times, had to deal with censorship and such ...
so basically their music is a mix between the romanian folklore and western rock / hard rock music - great musicians, great songs, I just love this band ... it's just a shame I can't find much of their early stuff on the internet so I can make you guys listen but here are some clips I found:
Negru Voda
Negru Voda - Bass solo
Mugur de Fluier
Andrii Popa
Baba Novak
here's also a link to their wiki if you want to learn more about them wiki wiki
and also you can PM me if you want me to share some of my MP3s with you
Edguy? (German powermetal)
I've never heard of these guys, but a kid in my dorm told me to check em out of a laugh. He said their album was supposedly #1 metal album of 2005, not sure by who lol.
They've got a standard metal look, play gibsons, and their video "superheroes" is funny as hell.
Anybody heard of these guys?
Appears to be a Gears of War model
played a peavey valveking (for a good second time)
so i played the peavey valve king today , for a good second time . i spent at least 30 minuets on it and i gotta say i was impressed . I got a really warm fat sound out of it , but then dropped the mids and pulled the bass back and then highs up and got a pretty decent thick rock tone .
i think the amp would be compleat if the a-ab texture switch was switchable between the channles , like you make channle one class A and then the distortion channle A/B but i guess that would be a feature i'd find on a mesa not a peavey .
overall , it was very nice for the price .
Duncan '59 Vs 79 series pu
Can somebody who's a/b these tell me the difference they have found and if the difference is worth the 70 or 80's dollars for the pu. I posted this in the tech discussion forum a few days ago and didn't get a very solid answer. Thanks.

I will get more pics up as I upload more...

So I have been thinking about building a guitar body from scratch and finishing it with a used neck and catalog ordered parts. My father in law is a skilled craftsman with wood so i'm sure his tools and knowledge will be invaluable help... anyway I was looking for veneer for the top and I came across this.
How cool would a wood grain monkey face be?
National Guitar Workshop
by colin.p on Thu Mar 22, 2007 4:42 am
It looks kind of cool only becuz i live in seattle and michael angelo batio is a guest artist. Is this just another @#$%&$@ thing, my mom signed me up for Power Chord Academy last year which was the worst thing in the world. Exactly what the title says, it was a bunch of people who play power chords and listen to bad alternative rock bands.
