Warning: Two TC 41 of 50 Dean Vs? Or is this a scam?
I just checked for the closing bid on a great looking V on eBay, when I thought, "gee... 41 of 50 sounds familiar..." and I checked, I HAVE 41 of 50 right here.
They don't look the same IMHO, and the sig looks kinda worn off on his, but mine still looks new.
Anyone know what's up? Were doubles accidently made, or is this a scam?

And do shops still stock the silver trim one as i cant find any shops with the silver trim one.
"Jackson Kelly/Gibson Explorer guitar"
odd guitar
Another one of my stupid ideas.
I Was thinking of doing this for a while. so i went and did it. if you like it try it out yourself. let me know what you think.
installed:
take a post card or some kind of strong paper, and print out a design on it.
cut out the design using a razorblade or something. emos don't go for your wrists, go for the paper. just kidding.
for those of you with floyd roses, do this on your trem plate cover. those who don't use another plate off the back. i have a floyd so i do it on my trem plate.
Figure out where you want it.
tape it on when you have it where you want it.
once taped down paint onto the card.
pull the card off.
make your adjustments to the extra paint that may have gotten under the card in some spots.
and wala! you have a custom plate cover. make sure to peel the plastic cover crapp thats on there originally. it'll give you a cool beaten look, while having your design on it. children under the age of 13 should have adult supervision when using the razor or scissors to cut the card design. thanks all try it out if you like it.
i used shitty paint but spray paint would have made it look beter but i had no red spray paint only black...
Does anyone know what the current quality of les pauls are? i heard lately they are subpar.
I did a "Presidents of the USA" on my TelePaul.
by Blazer on Sun Jul 01, 2007 9:21 pm
These are two Gibson SG's from Chris ballew, bassplayer from the Presidents of the United States Of America, who strings them up with two bass strings and plays through the neck pickup solely resulting in a very low-fi rubbery and cool bass sound.
Inspired by that I decided to give my Tele Paul a similar make over.
As for why doing so. I'll be blunt, the TelePaul is a failure, I never got it to sound right and I never liked the feel of it, so I dismantled it and hung it on the wall. But after seeing footage of the Presidents I started thinking "Do I have a guitar I could use for that?" And the answer litterarly hung in front of my face on the wall.
As you can see I went with three strings because that gives me just a little more range they are tuned from low to high C-F-A# and because it has no bridge pickup it sounds rubbery and cool.
ok yall, im in arizona, scottsdale to be exact. what are some good guitar shops and like music stores with band shirts and s#%t, i have been to guitar center on indian bend rd. what else is there thats within about 30 min distance??
I currently play The Duncans: Full shred, custom custom, '59, and jbs.
But i have had second thoughts on swithching to EMG's.
2 different sounds- one winner
So, I was really looking at a JB/59 combo, but today I played a Soloist today with a Dimarzio Tone Zone, and I thought it was really good also. Opinions?
Marshall footswitch problem
OK my footswitch doesn't work anymore ... well it works but not so good I have a problem with the channel selector
when I hold the jack this way, it works perfectly ... but I really have to hold it down ... when the jack is horizontal the switch doesn't work anymore
so when I hold it up or just let the footswitch on the floor, the channel selector doesn't work ... the DFX switch works perfectly both ways though
do you guys have any suggestions before I go to the shop and ask for another one ?
I've already opened the thing and all the wires seem soldered correctly to the switches ... I believe that one of the wires may be cut inside the jack itself
PS: the problem doesn't come from the amp ... without the footswitch the channel selector works fine !
How would one go about...
Achieving such great solo tone?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DCC8AiWHEw
I love his tone. I personally think it's great and I want it.
Back in my hometown in CT, it's pretty bad in terms of trying to find a band to join up with. When I left 2 years ago, there was a massive over abundance of guitarist, a few bass players, a few singers, and a massive lack of drummers. As a guitarist, made it extremely hard to join a band when every band was looking for a drummer anda singer.
Up here in NY, seems a little bit better, found a few bands looking for a guitarist, though most of them are playing styles of music I would rather not play (punk/emo) or music I can't play (jazz/blues).
Just thought it was kinda interesting how different areas have different needs and such. What's the music conditions like for all of your local areas?

L 500 XL
by GrantS on Mon Jul 02, 2007 8:32 pm
Hey Dean Lovers,
Question!
I'm recently really interested in buying a Bill Lawrence L500XL pickup, but have a tiny question. I have a les paul, and was wondering if the BL would fit in it? I've seen two modifications to this pickup. Enclosed is the main style.
Question being, would either fit in my guitar? Or only the latter?
The reason I ask is that it seems like a common pickup for those wanting to emulate the early Dimebag tone on their deans.. but I don't own a dean--and I am seeking after that razor tone.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=017&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBI%3AIT&viewitem=&item=270138879932&rd=1&rd=1
Would this one fit? Or must I find the rare version that has the small tab on the sides?

The ugliest looking production guitars
by Blazer on Mon Jul 02, 2007 10:04 pm
Okay, I guess we all know that certain players like to modify their guitars until they *ahem* gain a look of their own. Such as Bumblefoot did with his Fender Strat and his Ibanez Roadstar. And that certain one-off customshop creations are for the *ahem* people with an aquired taste.
However, we tend to overlook that there are plenty of butt-ugly guitars which are regular production items. Let's have a look.
SX is a brand which is currently gaining popularity in the low price category. Making guitars that *cough* are somewhat based on more famous designs but were *sniff* altered in small ways so to keep the lawyers at bay.
There's a reason why real Fender Stratocasters DO NOT come with a two piece bridge...
If you're gonna copy the PRS Swampash model please leave the shape of that guitar alone...
Also on the list (And imported by Rondo music) are the instruments of Agile, which like SX is a brand which is getting popular for offering cool guitars for sharp prices but also like SX, they also don't really *Harrrumph* look the part...
To be honest, this one takes the "Horny" away from the SG shape.
An F-hole shouldn't be at that spot, there's a reason why Fender came up with a different pickguard for their Thinline tele.
Megadeth fans on the forum should look away right this second.
Teles should NOT have that kind of Headstock, not to mention TWO!
Which BBE Sonic Maximizer should I get?
im planning on buying a bbe sonic maximizer soon, ive looked at the different versions bbe makes but I really dont know which would be the best to go for. I was going to get the sonic stomp, but i compared specs with the 482i maximizer and the 482i has better specs. im not really sure what the differences are between the 482i and the 882i, apart from the 482i has 'unbalanced jacks', what does that mean?
basically I need to know which maximizer I should go for, the 362, 482i, 882i, or sonic stomp. any suggestions/advice?

Upgrading my Strat ... update page 2 ...
yeah I know ... it's not a Fender ... it's a Squier Standard
it was my first guitar though and I will keep it forever ! my parents bought it, my little brother chose the model so it has sentimental value let's say ...
on with the pron
before the trolls come and post their opinion on Stratocasters ...
YES I do like Strats
YES I do like single coils
YES I do like the big a$$ 70's headstock on my Squier
I was basically thinking about upgrading the hardware and electronics on this one ... do you guys think it's worth it ? or do you think it won't change that much in the end ?
- Fender or maybe Gotoh bridge
- better tuners ... Fender ? Grover ?
- new 5 way switch and knobs ? Fender ?
- new pick ups ... I was thinking about a Bare Knuckle "Irish Tour" set
thanks for your input

Baritone on a standard guitar?
I was messing around the other day in a tuning a step above baritone tuning (BEADGB), and I thought it was pretty interesting, definitely different sounding. I tried doing actual baritone tuning (ADGCEA), but the strings started getting real flappy and buzzing.
The question I had was whether or not it would be possible to set up a standard guitar to be able to maintain a baritone tuning? I know there is a huge difference in tension between standard and baritone tuning on a regular guitar, but is there a way to work around this? A tech nearby had mentioned I could probably manage to get a baritone neck in correct neck pocket size, but the scale would result in it only having something like 18 or so frets. Ideas?

QUESTION for dean experts
who knows what gauge strings come stock on 2007 razorback v's???
i popped the low e yesterday when i was jamming and i wanna replace the strings with the same gauge that came from the factory but i dont know what it is.... anybody??????????
Probably been covered, Ive tried searching but found nothing...Its there gonna be a Gears of War model Musatine V produced?
Anyone ever indirectly discourage you from playing?
I've hit a serious rut here and was just wondering if anyone else has or is going through the same thing. Two of my best friends are total guitar prodigies. Totally ace players with not only amazing technique but also with the ability to write the Bible of Music Theory if they wanted to. They have about 2 years more experience playing guitar than I do, but I know that even when they were at the 2 and a half years I am now they kicked my ass. I can't help but compare myself to these people, and in the process it seriously discourages me. It's gotten to the point where everytime I pick up my guitar I'm convinced I absolutely suck and consequently never play for longer than 20 minutes at a time now. Has anyone else gone through a similar situation? Any advice really would be welcome.
Who on here likes MEGADETH?! does anybody know how they do the writing of the songs goes... like if they write the lyrics first then write the music, then add drums or some other way? i want to play stuff like theirs and wanted to know the style of how they do it. thanks, all people who are just gonna rip on megadeth please don't post anything, i'm ok with the fact that some people that don't like them, and thats ok but just don't post anything real offensive thanks again.

I have a Randall RH200SC and I'm try'n to find the best way to wire up my stack. The head had 4 outputs. 2 right and 2 left. One cab has an input and output both with designated left and right. The other cab just has left and right. At the moment I just have one cable to each cab, but I only hear half of the cabs working. Should I use all outputs, will it fix that? I'd assume both rights into each right inputs and both lefts into each left inputs, but I've been wrong before Also it runs in stereo with 2 cabs. here is a simple diagram.
Also I didn't post this in the Tech section cause I'm not Hot Rodding or needing problem solving advice on my Dean.
I wanna get the most out of my amp. My tone is almost there. With one cab it's great, but with 2 when I try to tweak my settings, it's either to shrill or to flabby. I also run a BBE and an MXR Blue 6-Band in the loop and a Keeley modded TS-9 in the front for extra boost. Please any advice would really help.
And Randy.
This won't " help" me get the most out of my amp so ......

DFM Import Model-Why China?
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I am a newer member. I was curious as to why the DFH Import model is made in China. I would think such a cool guitar and for the price they sell them at they would be at least Korean or Japan. Most Chinese made guitars are way under $500, most of them no more than $300 and lower. Personally, I wouldn`t pay that much money for a Chinese made guitar.I see that alot of the nicer Import Dean`s are made in Korea, but not the DFH. Thanks bro`s-Jack.
Just looked at this manufacturer and was very impressed with the sound of the composite material. Also, their neck heal is very small, no worries about warping, cracking, humidity, etc. Dang expensive though.

Some sound clips available there. Now if I could get a V-Wing like that.

My Dime-o-flame for one of those grey custom 450's. I got a couple questions about the 450 that I can't remember though... It was neck-thru right? And what price do they usually go for used in okay condition? Oh and are they mahagony or something else?
This was taken last night. The guitar plays and feels awesome and it looks cool as H#LL!
I've been informed that all 100 have already been spoken for.
frippin Rock. i just went down to guitatcenter today to pickup one and i came back plugged it in, no more fuzz! except when i take my hands off the strings but it doesn't fuzz when i get used as an electronics ground.
Does anybody know how to get rid of the buzz when you take your hands off the strings?

I got a fireball its 60watts but in band setting I have to have the master on max for it to be heard. Its not the settings or the cabinet but a room were in the acoustics just love making the drum set loud as s#%t. Im wondering if I get like a mxr eq or a something that boosts up dB's can it make the fireball louder and not damage it.
how do you tell what the "scale length" of a guitar is? i have no idea how to even TRY to figure it out or what it even means
i got some free strings yesterday at guitarcenter, anybody ever use GHS, rock-its? they're pretty cheap thats why they were giving them away. they seem like a newer product due to the fact you can't find them for s#%t online. thanks guys.
anyone tell me how much one is worth???what would be a good price for a used one???

Anyone ever played one? I have a chance to score a used one at the pawn shop (if they still have it) for about 1/3 the price of a new one. I heard the clean channel is great and the vibrato and chorus are too (which is what i'll be using it for if I get it.)

The cheapest guitar ever...
by Blazer on Fri Jul 06, 2007 2:14 pm
Okay today I found myself in a local thrift store looking for cheap CD's and other affordable cool stuff when I saw the unmistakable shape of the headstock of a twelve string guitar sticking out from behind a couch that was on sale.
Well with me being me, I reached around that couch and found myself staring at this...
As you can see, the guitar has had better days, the top has a terrible lift and the bridge has been very cruedly re-attached to the top. But the strange thing is, this thing still plays and actually stays in tune. I don't know if I can repair this one but it's still a hell of a bargain, I mean how often can you buy a twelve string guitar for only three bucks?
My new Laney, with pics, and a D'oh!
Finally got my ebay baby last night, a 1980's model Laney VH100R.
It came with a Laney GS414V cab, which Ive never heard of and can get no info on. Googling it brings up about 10 results, all in german or something!
The guy I bought it off recommended changing the tubes, as there was an occasional volume/gain drop, which I found to be about 10 minutes into playing.
No shops round here sell tubes, so I finally found one and picked up a set of Harma Diamond. Ive never heard of them, so if anyone has any info or opinions, feel free!
I was replacing everything, which on this amp meant 4 6l6 power tubes, and 6 ECC83 preamps. All together this cost me £160 ($320)!! Needless to say I could have done without that expense!
Anyway, long story short, I put all the new tubes in, turn it on and start wailing. A couple of minutes in, the gain drops out again! I pulled the lead out and plugged it into the other input, and my gain came back. Turns out the socket is dusty or something after all that, and I could have saved myself a $h1tload of money
I guess its better to have all new ones in there and start from scratch. Now Im just worried I need to rebias, even though I changed 6L6 for 6L6, the grade might be diffrent. Where will the money pit end??
So heres the pron:

my house hold has recently gaind quite a few guitars, pron to follow (some day) but heres a quick list of the new entries in the past 2 weeks:
schector c1 hellraiser FR (amazing guitar. the hellraiser line doesnt use any no-name parts: OFR or tonepros TOM, emgs, set screw knobs, ect)
schector c7 hellraiser (once i got the c1, i had to have the 7 str version)
ibanzez tbv700 (the one and only V ibanez makes. was a limited run for 07, might become a regular item in 0
ovation elite (the one with the bed liner lining look)
ovation mandolin (cutest little thing....)
esp-ltd dv-200 (china made version of the dv-8. plays well for a bolt on. couldnt beat the price either)
and lastly:
a dean 88. has a licenced floyd and a wolf print grafic. ive never heard of this guitar before, but it was givin to me to add to the dean collection.
i tried to find some info on it, but i couldnt. can any one tell me about this series? was the wolf print a factory thing (or a custom job)?
thanks in advance =)
get fed up with effects pedals, processors, etc and just run the guitar through the amp's natural distortion only using a noise gate as the only effect pedal on the amp?
Another photoshop request - add headstock to this pic?

Engl Powerball owners, few quick questions:
by Rampage on Sat Jul 07, 2007 1:40 am
Well, I am thinking about switching from my Mark IV to a Powerball and I had a few quick questions:
1. Are you pleased overall with the amp? Is there anything you wish it had/didn't have?
2. Is the Powerball versatile in your opinion?
3. Does the effects loop work well/sound good?
4. What cabinets/speakers do you prefer to use in conjunction with the Powerball?
5. If you had the opportunity to go back to when you bought it, would you still get it, or buy something else?
I have no life, someone talk to me.

Case for Caddy?
by Rotgut on Sat Jul 07, 2007 4:32 pm
Hello gang! First time posting here, but I been lurkin' a long time.
Anyway, I have a question for you Dean experts. I have a Caddy Select I just picked up a few weeks ago, and I was wondering what official Dean case will fit it properly?
Thanks in advance!
SORRY NO BATTERIES IN MY CAMERA SO HAD TO USE MY PHONE . WE ALL KNOW I CANT TAKE PICTURES EVEN IF I HAD A 2 GRAND CAMERA AND SOMEONE TOOK THEM FOR ME BUT HERE YOU GO.
ALWAYS WANTED THE RED ONE BUT EVERY EMO KID HAS THAT ONE SO I GOT THIS BLACK ONE, THAT EVERY OTHER KID HAS I KNOW BUT SEEMED MORE METAL.
AND I KNOW WHAT YOURE THINKING. I THOUGHT IT TOO AND INITIALLY BOUGHT IT ONLY TO JAM AROUND AT HOME AND NOT TO GIG WITH IN FEAR THAT ROUND ON ROUND WOULDNT WORK WELL. SO I TOOK THIS PICTURE AND BLACKED IT OUT TO MAKE IT LOOK SIMILAR TO A LIVE PIC
NOT TOO ROUND COMPARE TO MY LIVE PIC WITH A ML. I THOUGHT FOR SURE SINCE RATT WAS BACK TOGETHER THEY WOULD HAVE TO DEDICATE ROUND AND ROUND TO ME WHEN I GO SEE THEM. HEHE
HERES A COUPLE ML'S I GOT ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO TOO.
I didn't post this in the 'promote your band' area because it's not my band and this recording was just for fun:
http://rapidshare.com/files/41508178/BlissMultitrack-01.mp3.mp3
I done the drum track then everything else through a Line 6 Pod, quite a quick rough mix, didn't have the time to fix it all up (done on my last day of college!).
What do you all think of it? That 'synth' = Touchstyle guitar + whammy pedal + little treble and no tone on guitar.
i was thinking of putting EMGs in my dime-o-flame. what do you guys suggest? post some pron, if you put EMGs in, and tell me which kind... such as 81, 85.. so on and so forth. thanks.
This section still exists?

input on what you think, what to do while its like this, or anything else, go ahead.
It is between Boss CE-5 or Boss Super Chorus.Which do you guys prefer and why?I will likely be using it only for leads,to supplement a little reverb and delay.
Wall Case for Razorback?
by Redog75 on Sun Jul 08, 2007 2:06 am
Hey folks
Has anyone found a wall-mount case that will hold a Razorback?? I want to find one, but am having problems with the size... Ideally I'd like to find something similar to the MetalHead from Display and Play. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
OK HERES A CLIP OF MY ENGL WITH EMGS
I USED MY NEW ESP EC1000 WITH EMGS INTO POWERBALL WITH MARSHALL V30 STRAIGHT CAB, SM57 DIRECT INTO HOME BUILT PC ON BOARD SOUNDCARD. . ENJOY. I JUST JAMMED A RIFF OF A BLOODROOT TUNE AND MADE SOME LAME NOODLING BLUR OF A SOLO OVER IT TO GIVE YOU AND IDEA OF A POWERBALL WITH EMGS. I PREFER PASSIVE PICKUPS PERSONALLY, THEY ARE FULLER AND WARMER TO MY EARS. SHRUGGS.

Ok,
Lookin for opinions/reviews on EQ pedals. Specifically the Boss 7 band, and the MXR 6 band. I honestly don't care if Dime used the MXR. Just lookin for suggestions to try and sway my decision in a direction here.
ok. so .. like 3 weeks ago i noticed for the first time that when i played a powerchord on the A and D strings, there would be really annoying buzz/extra noise. then after a while it may have detuned and the problem went away. and now that i retuned it correctly the buzz comes again and im pretty sure its the D string... but i have no idea wat to do cos its in correct standard tuning. ( i might just be retarded but the buzz is really annoying)
Why do those of you that don't like Line6, not like Line6? I'm thinking about betting the Vetta2. Tell me why I should or should not.

Question about a song from an incredibly stupid video
Now, I realize these guys are both incredibly goofy and WAY into their playing and it will more than likely strike you as comical (as it did me,) but what is the song he starts playing at 2:08? I have heard that somewhere...

Some new project I am doing, rough demo's
I am working on this fast crossover hardcore thrash project with an old drummer friend of mine. The goal is simple, we go into the rehearsal room just jam away and try to come up with simple fast and short bursts of energy. We have nothing pro recorded yet, but these "live" jams sound pretty cool already, basically just 2 mic recordings. I used my Bogner uberschall on these it's single tracked and totally unprocessed so you get a pretty good idea. I did boost it with a marshall jackhammer pedal though otherwise it's not fast enough responsewise. I didn't try anything fancy for the reording, that wil follow shortly when we start recording the demo.

Youtube Help!! - Reporting Users
Hey guys..does anyone know how I can report a user on youtube? This guy is just making multiple accounts after I continue to block each one and delete the comments on my page. He is just harassing me and trashing my guitar playing and my band and calling me racial slurs on all of my videos. As hard as I try to ignore it, you can't help but to let s#%t like that get to you..it hurts.
Conditioned My Fretboard today (pics)
Today for the first time ever..I bothed to condition the fretboard on my guitars. And oh my god, why didn't I do it before. It makes a huge difference. What made me do it was because I was looking at random pics from my bands shows...and on my Razorback I thought..ew..that rosewood looks pretty nasty. lol. I used the Ernie Ball Fretboard Conditioning Wipes and they made a world of a difference. Its so much smoother now. And its also a lot prettier, lol.
I also got some of that fret-ease string lube that John Petrucci uses, and I like that stuff a lot too.
Unconditoned
Conditioned (ignore my incredibly junky bedroom)
All Done, for now, and for those of you who hate the dice...
sorry for the dice, i know they suck, i'll change them back.
for all those who hate the dice:
and for those who only partially hate the dice, and encourage my idea that i actually myself hate:
recently i made a post about taking apart my guitar. heres what its like finished. unfortuanetly, i broke the neck pickup volume knob. so i need to buy a new potentiometer. anyway, heres some s#%t i updated on it.
with the pups loose, nicely cleaned those out. an amazingly large amount of dust and buffing compound:
The dice knobs i made. i put them all up 6, so the dice numbers are 6 6 6 facing up. i thought thats pretty cool:
the one was too small and got stuck on the potentiometer, and pulled it out so i gotta get that replaced:
another shot of the knobs:
stringed up:
and of course the famous.....
BEFORE:
And AFTER:
thanks to all for checking those out. the top pickup no longer has volume due to the potentiometer being broken. so i'm gonn ahave to use the dimebucker, till that is fixed. my dumbass fault with the shitty tight drilling. let me know what you think of all this. thanks guys.

New Custom Picks Day!
by spz on Mon Jul 09, 2007 11:55 am
Ordered 1000 picks for me and the others in my band a little while ago and now they arrived. They're exactly the same as the gree Dunlop Tortex picks except for the custom color/logo, which are my picks by choice
We went with black picks and white logo, figured can't go wrong with that and I have to say they turned out pretty much perfect! They have a nice and greyish look when they're untouched due to the whole matte/tortex thing for grip and turn a nice solid black after a little bit of use.
Here are a couple of picks, pun most definitely intended:

Nothing too interresting I know, but it sure made my day especially with being sick and all
Oh and while we're at it I forgot to post these a while back, so this is a good time;
Ok, move along now, nothing to se here...

What pickups come stock in ML79's?
Are they just dean pups like in ml x's or are they made by another company? i heard that they were dimarzios because thats what dean put in the original ml's in 1979, but i dunno if thats true or not. so can any help me out?
A little Pron to liven up the day!
I finally took the Bare knuckle miracle man out of my ibanez and put it in my TCV, sounds bloody marvelous! so i thought i take some pics, bear in mind they were taken on my phone when the sun wasnt out, and im rubbish at taking pictures!
An older headstock pic
heres a close up of the pickup, the cover matched the colour of the guitar it came from, i quite like the way it looks in the dean tho, so i might order another similar cover, either that or i just lose the cover from the bare knuckle and just have it as the uncovered zebra pickup.
i did have a black v plate on, but when i changed the pickup i put the old v plate back on, im still planning to black out all the hardware but until then i'll stick with this.
heres how it did look, (imagine a black bridge )

List every guitar with a Floyd Rose or other double locking
by Blazer on Mon Jul 09, 2007 11:38 pm
Well then, let's share our lists of guitars with double locking vibrato bridges we own and have owned.
1. Squier Stratocaster "The Veteran"
My long suffering 1989 Squier was the first guitar I had which had a double locking trem, a Kahler Spyder which I put on myself. It worked really good but I eventually pulled it out again in favor of a Wilkinson Trem which works just as well and makes the guitar sound so much better.
2. Ibanez GRG 270
All black but I refinished it baby blue like Frank Gambale's Ibanez. I bought this guitar as a backup for the squier mentioned above. It didn't sound badly and it was my very first guitar with a Floyd Rose-type trem. But that trem began to wear out really quickly causing me to sell it.
3. Ibanez GRG 270
Virtually identical to the one mentioned above. But it sounded terrible and played even worse so I sold it not nearly a week after I got it.
4. Charvel Model 3
As you can tell, this one recieved some modifications. This is a guitar I regret selling, it sounded really good and the Kahler "Killer" was one of the smoothest trems I ever worked with. But poverty got the better of me.
5. Ibanez RG 450 Roadstar2
The first Decent Ibanez I owned. It had the "Ibanez Edge" tremolo which was a revelation after those shitty ones found on the GRG guitars I had prior to that. It also had awesome pickups. Sadly, this one also had to go because of money issues.
6. Self built Strat copy "The Rookie"
A replica of my Squier Strat "The Veteran" it sounds like s#%t but I still have it.
7. ESP Ltd Horizon
This guitar blew me away, I bought it new and it outplays every Ibanez I ever held in my hands. Making me wonder why Ibanez can't get their guitars in the same price range sound and play as good. It's my secondary guitar with my band. (My PRS is my main one)
IT'S ALIVE!!! (ENGL SE Content :D)
I initially had some issues with getting it going at the start because it's set for 110V. As you see, I have a lovely 800W Step Up/Down Transformer nestled behind it! (I'm in the UK so need 230V...)
Anyway, to give a bit of a review of it:-
It sounds very very good even quiet. Can happily play at home practice volumes and not have crap tone!
It has fantastic bass response. The mega lo punch and depth switches are very impacting. Totally fill out the bottom end and make it so punchy!
I adored my Powerball for the time I had it (lasted a whole year with it! ) and was actually really worried that when I got this one up and running that it would disappoint because it HAD to out-do the PB to be worthwhile!
Let's just say that - thus far anyway! - I'm more than satisfied with what's going on with it!
Had it with me at band practice last night. Let's just say that I'll never have to worry about cutting through in the mix again!
Much clearer in a band situation than the Powerball was. There's just soooooooo much presence to the SE it's unreal!
I didn't even have the volume up all that much and it's just so powerful sounding even with another guitar and a drumkit going on aswell.
Most DEFINITELY recommended if you can afford/justify it!
Right, I'm goingto paint my ML but how do I get te knob and other electronics out? Once I have them out how hard is it to get back in?
i realize its the same guitarist lol, but Demise of Sanity by Black Label sounds like Dont Wanna Stop by Ozzy, at least the main riff.
yea... dont mean anything... just thought it was cool
Now this is what I call a rack.
Been toying with the notion of going with a rack preamp. Buddy of mine has a 580 and sent me a shot of his rack.
Now that's a friggin rack kids.
My left nut for the E580 and the H8000 alone. Ok and maybe the palmer too.
need some help with pickups. i know this is gonna start a war between passive and active lovers, EMG and seymour lovers. drop some suggestions, tell me what you like about the pickup, and why you love it. Try to act like a salesman, make me want to buy it and stick it in my guitar, i got 25 bucks now, but i'll be getting some more in a little while. hopefully this will become a sticky and it will help other people figure out what pickups they want. thanks guys.
i'll be on tomorrow to see what replies are on here.

Who? What?
Finally, my ESP and Micro Cube w/ Pronography
Yeah, those of you who don't know the story about me finding it, and just a bit about it, go here.
http://www.deanguitars.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=37113
I got the used ESP EX-50 which I waited for about a 2 weeks and the Roland Micro Cube yesterday from guitar center. I was tired, I didn't do jack to clean it up, just played them both, fell in love with them, then that was it.
This morning I woke up and almost as soon as I was dressed I pulled off the tape. Then of coarse, I had to get a Magic Eraser to get the scuff from the tape off. I pressed a bit too hard in some areas and that actually wiped off some of the gloss coat, lol. But it's used, only cost 110 bucks, what ever. Now I can say it has MY marks on it, aside from the small ding and the somewhat screwed up corner on it.
Those Inlays are stickers. The guy before me basically put a god ugly body kit on a Toyota Camry. lol. I'll take off those stickers once I find out the gauge and change the strings, cause they are a bit worn and I want to put some fresh strings on them. Probably something other than DRs, cause DRs are strong and s#%t, thats why I got them on my Floyd, but this is a tune-o-matic so I'll go for feel instead of durability.
But enough of that. PRON! (sorry, just took these now, it's getting dark, tomorrow I'll take some pics in better light.
close up
back in black
BOOM, HEAD STOCK!
I think the ESP on the heel I think it's called is cool.
The Kirk Hammett style stickers, soon to be off.
Late night family get together by my car.
Then my rig is back in my room, and the frippin awesome Micro Cube. And I know some of you loose picks quite a bit, what I did is went and bought one of those Dunlop pick holders and put it on my amp by the power switch. It works great.
Then a little bit on the Micro Cube, if you want a nice travel amp, or even a budget practice amp, get a Roland Micro Cube. It doesn't pick up palm mutes as good as the Crate, but effect and versatility wise, it's actually BETTER than the crate, but the Crate stays still for now.
THERE! I know some of you were itching for that.
I am VERY happy with my purchases.
Yet another "Floyd Help" thread
I just spend the past hour and a half trying to get the floyd on my friends ESP right. He bought new strings (this time a little heavier up top)
After messing with it for a while, tuning, un-tuning, adjusting the screws/spring tension.. I FINALLY got it into to tune (CGCFAD), BUT, the bridge is slightly pulled UP. it's not ALOT, but definitely enough that its not allowable on a setup.
what would you all suggest the best way to get it back about level, without destroying all the tuning work??
Okay, so I went to the 2 pawn shops in town. One of them has a Trace Elliot Tramp Twin Chorus 2x12 amp for $375.
The other has a Marshall Combo, 2x12, $400. Don't have a clue what it is. It said something about reverb on the front and it looks SOMEWHAT old...it's not all crusty or whatever...looks nice. It's not an MG or AVT, that's for sure. Said nothing about Valvestate Technology on it or anything...I can't find any info on it at all on the internet.
Just scored a Line 6 Echo park
Should have it in 2-3 weeks. I'm pretty excited. The sounds online are pretty good. I'll post a review when i get it. Does anyone else use them?
Ok, all funny comments about the rack pix aside..
Ever since Simon (the guy with the rack) got the 580 and sent me clips of the thing I've been intriqued with the notion of a line level preamp outside of and in addition to my VG stuff.
Having never spent any time with any of the ENGL stuff, my understanding thus far is the the E570 is essentially most of the 560 SE's preamp section.
I don't see a corresponding model that the E580 parallels in terms of which head the preamp comes from (maybe it's none of em?).
Aside from the rather large price differential between the two units, from a functionality standpoint one major difference I've been able to noodle out is that the 580 has full midi control of the parameters (i.e. the "knobs") and the 570 doesn't, it just has presets that you can recall over midi.
For any of you guys who know the ENGL line, what's the difference in tonality on em? I haven't found anybody who has had a chance to play with both of em, and based on other stuff I've seen about the ENGL stuff, there is a pretty noticable difference between the models sound wise.
I'm asking because I found a line on a used E570 some guy in Canada has for sale on another forum, and am considering it over the E580 if it sounds better than the E580.
Any thoughts?
explosion or slime bumble bee???
by 333 on Tue Jul 10, 2007 10:56 pm
hey people!
come november time i should be gettin ma hands on a razorback but i cant make my mind up between the explosion or the slime bumblebee finish.... help please?!???!?!?
Seems like I have just scored a used Hardtail Select trans blue.
I've been wanting a stoptail guitar for quite some time now since I only got floyded guitars, and this one seems like a good candidate for my purposes.
I need a backup guitar at gigs and of course it's more convinient with a stoptailed geet.
And for alternate tunings I save alot of time not screwing around with the floyd (time I don't have anyway).
So what do you guys think, anyone who owns one of the Hardtail Selects and has anything good to say about them?
I was considering a black gold V at first but since discovering this HT I think I like it alot more.
No pron yet though, it should arrive in a week or two.

new guitar day for me
by zao on Wed Jul 11, 2007 12:23 am
i got the LIMITED pink and black ltd alexi laiho v, it sounds pretty good, i never owned a ltd but it sounds nice, i have a esp laiho in the usa body shape and i compared them both and i like the esp better than the ltd but the ltd is still pretty sweet, they both weigh about the same but the esp sounds better and has better attention to details. the ltd is a good value for the money.
theres only supposed to be 150 made, it came with a emh hz but i had my dealer replace it for a emg 85, ive played the hz before and i didnt like it, my esp laiho also has a emg 85. i dont know if i will hardly play it since i ahve the esp but its still a very nice guitar.
heres what it looks like, i didnt get a chance to take my own pics yet. i dont expect very many of you guys to like it but i thought it was cool.
i also didnt buy it from dcgl, i just used the pic.
i always deal with world of strings and they treat me great, if anybody needs a esp guitar just ask for pharaoh.

Just tried a USA Dean... was a little disappointed...
Well today I tried a USA, a Dean Razorback Rust to be totally specific and I must say I was a little disappointed. I hear talk all the time on this board about how much the USA models slay the imports, but I gotta tell you guys after playing the Rust, I definitely wouldn't say it played $4,000 better than my souped up '79 MLF. In fact, I think I actually PREFERRED my ML.
were these made anyone got a pic??
All of you live players out there...I am wanting to get out of the dark ages and get a wireless........What is a good one or attributes to look for without having to spend a small fortune???Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.........Thanks
ok i just learned the Crazy Train solo... its fun as s#%t to play... but its also easy... what songs have easy solo's to learn, but i will also feel accomplished learning them?
ok, i have a 350w Crate Shockwave, its a solid state which i now realize i hate lol, but i need to get rid of it and get a new head, i pretty much made up my mind that i want a tube, what are some good tube amps that i can get a good clean tone along with a heavy chunky (but not bassy) metal tone, and is also under a grand
i also have the crate 4x12 slant cab with celestions. idk if a diff head will still sound good on that or what... but i need a direction to go in

Light leer case???

Where can we pick up those light leer guitar case's for a ML model and how much are they???
I just saw the Fender EVH relic today...
by MLTC on Wed Jul 11, 2007 2:32 pm
One of only 300 made. $25,000.
But I must say, it was a sight to see. It was the best looking relic ever because it was a relic of a really iconic guitar. The owner of the store was playing it and it definitely had a lot of that old VH1 tone to it, even thru a valvestate.
Man...
I can't help but feel that the main ingredient to that tone is just a Gibson PAF combined with an old strat. So basically you could warmoth a strat and find an old PAF and get pretty dang close.
UPS store/Packing tip
by mpire on Wed Jul 11, 2007 4:11 pm
Not sure if this is all UPS stores, but true for mine...
If you collect your old packing peanuts/chips, the UPS store will take them away for you, which is cool as you can't really recycle em (as in give them to recycling, not re-use em).
I just dropped off a boxfull and the guy says if I ever need to ship something requiring peanuts, let them know I've donated them before and it'll be free.
Dose anyone know how DiMarzio DP100 Super Distortion Pickups sound in the Neck position? becuase my iceman needs a tune up bad!!!!!
If only women were as nice as Deans
Anyways, I know that the USA serial numbers can help you find out the date for your Dean, but is there any way to figure out when an import was made? I've been told import serial numbers really don't mean anything except to possibly the factory they were made in, but is there another way to find the date, or at least year? Specifically, I'm asking about my '79 ML.
laney world series
by 333 on Wed Jul 11, 2007 10:03 pm
ok iv just traded an asdown g20 for a 20yrold laney world series 80r only problem is it doesnt work properly... it works fine until the gain goes past 6 then it starts to buzz it does the same with any reverb at all anybody know what could be wrong???
i recently stuck the part that ripped out of the pot back in and moved it around a bit. then i went to pull it out and for a second while in the process of pulling it out the volume went back to normal. so i have now stuck a couple picks under the knob to hold it in that exact position so that it works. i will still have the pot replaced though, this is only temporary. i'm gonna call the place up the street. they do replacements right there in the shop, so they don't have to ship it anywhere, so it'll probably cost way less. for those of you who didn't read this before heres a couple pics to explain, and for those of you who did, these are way better:
you can see here that the pin is ripped out.
i popped out the ends so they'd fit in hopefully.
haha and heres my cheap solution to the problem, later i'll drill out some wood that will attach to the bottom of the speed knob, but for now i'm happy that it works
yeah thats about it.
It's official, the people at Gibson have gone crazy...

Move over Dime, anyone just watch Les Paul?
on PBS??? My Father raised me on this Man's Music (as well as Jimi's and Led Zeppelin) but no one can deny his Contribution to Guitar, Electric Guitar and the Recording Business as a whole. This Man is a GENIUS (SUPER GENIUS) and without him there would likely be no Dimebag.................
To see and to hear him is to appreciate him, no matter if you are Young or Old, I think some of you younger guys could learn a lot from Les Paul.
Man! I could watch that again and again!

Acoustic
by Steve S on Thu Jul 12, 2007 3:08 pm
I understand their is an acoustic forum but people don’t check it often and I really want allot of responses. I'm looking for a smaller acoustic, I don't like the full size ones (average acoustic) I would like a well playing guitar which is not necessarily a full size acoustic. Any suggestions??
John 5
by emunder on Thu Jul 12, 2007 3:31 pm
I never realized just how talented John 5 is. I was watching a Manson DVD last night and dude can play! He was playing some pretty wicked shred style solos with quick runs and sweep picking and he also seems to be pretty versitile in the sense that he uses alot of different styles and techniques in his playing. Guess I never really took notice. Anyway......I'm bored off my @ss at work so I figured I'd post something completely random.
What do you think of this?
Im not buying a new amp (ive got a marshall MG30DFX at the moment) at the moment as im saving up for a Dean Razorback, but just for the future could you tell me your opinions on this amp. thanks.

01-18-08 (Cloverfield) Movie
by BLOYD on Thu Jul 12, 2007 6:17 pm
Has anyone seen the new 01-18-08 movie trailer?
It’s been a big secret as to what the movie is actually about. Some kind of monster flick. All kinds of secrets posted over the internet…there are tons of little clues all over the place…just have to find them …see http://www.ethanhaaswasright.com/ , http://www.ethanhaas.org/ (check this site, look at the link called “slusho”, a guy in the trailer is wearing a slusho shirt, what’s the significance?
The working title for the movie is “Cloverfield”. Some believe the term is taken from and old book written by H.P. Lovecraft called “The Call of Cthulhu”. info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Call_of_Cthulhu. Some think it is the monster Cthulhu from his book.
Take a look at the trailer and web sites and see what you can figure out? Her I the official trailer…
http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/11808/hd/
the sun is shining, the heat ain't so bad, so i figured how about taking the family out on the deck and enjoy ourselves.
The dog decided to join me in the last one here.
the deck is made of a composite wood, so it'll never need stained, or anything,i personally think its ugly, but hey, it cuts some work out.
roland microcube, any got clips?
im after a small practice amp, something portable that has a good tone, and ive heard good things about the microcube, ive checked out the clips on roland website and it sounds good, but id like some 'real' sound clips, so has anyone got any they could send me?
In two years I'm buying the head of my dreams. I'd get it now but living in an apartment I'd never be able to use it. It'll be Mesa or Engl. I'm not sure which. I haven't played Engl.
I'm buying a Randall RG100HT to mess with in the mean time. Which cab should I get.
About the song "The Final Countdown"
by Blazer on Thu Jul 12, 2007 10:52 pm
I guess you can call that one one of the biggest Hair Metal anthems to come from Europe (both the band and the continent) since Hairmetal never got as big across the Atlantic as it got in the USA.
That song with its epic keyboard played riff and John Norum's blistering solo. Has taken its place in classic rock's hall of fame as a powerful and glorius anthem of eighties hard rock.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASisLT5XHtg
However, when it's performed by a couple of Fruitbats who apparently went on stage after practicing it only once, the song becomes something very weak and pityful.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5Ym5g3DR1M
i've been wanting to make some crappy recordings of me on the dime-o-flame, but i can't decide what to play. so i've listed a couple songs i know quite well. please don't rip on them most of them are pretty cool, at least IMO they are...

New Amp today.*with pron*
Today i got my Line 6 Spider III today in the mail. After a few hours of playing it, i do really like it. There are some negative things i don't like about it, such as most of the "metal" presets sound the same, and the noise gate is not adjustable. But with what it lacks it makes up for in just a ass load of different sounds, right now im in love with the "for the love of God" preset. Now i do have a "real" amp to compare it too, a Crate BV120. And the Spider does not touch the "warm" "smooth" distortion of a tube amp, but what the hell. I didnt buy it to get the Crate sound.
now for the Pron.

Endorsements - how does it work?
by grinder on Fri Jul 13, 2007 11:40 am
Let's say you play in a relatively known band, be it stateside, nationwide, whatever. Or in the underground music scene, I'm not talking about multi-platinum selling bands. How do you work your way to get an endorsement from X or Y brands? Do you approach the brands, do they approach you...?
I was always curious to know how the whole thing works.
After selling some of my gear and my LTD KH-202 I was able to get the guitar I have been wanting: An Ibanez XPT700 Xiphos. I have one pic and it is a crappy one, but this is a truly incredible guitar. They are selling these for A LOT less than they are worth.

Krank Rev Jr Amp - Review and Pron
I have my new Krank Rev Jr. Several on the forum have asked for a review. So here goes.
=======================================
-- edit (7-15-2007): Added Sound Samples....
go to the bottom of this post....
=======================================
First, the unit drop shipped directly from Krank. They packaged it like a bunch of morons. They should be ashamed of themselves for letting it ship that way. Its a miracle it made it in one piece. Others were not so lucky.
Here is the amp we are talking about:
It is a 20 Watt all tube head. 2 channels. Nice EQ section. Active FX loop (much more on that later). Boost. 3 - 12AX7's and 2 - 5881, which are a 6L6 variant with a short bottle and a nice creamy sound. I have used these tubes before and they are very good higher gain tubes.
You can get a size reference by looking at how much taller it is than the Marshall Zakk Stack behind it.
The full mini stack comes with 2 - 1x12 cabs. These are full bore heavy duty poplar cabs with Eminence Legend speakers. They are made to the same spec as the Revolution 4x12's. They handle 100 watts. It is unclear if they handle 100 watts together or each. I am assuming they handle 100 watts combined, as there is a 50 watt Legend speaker in the Eminence catalogue.
Lets take a look at the front panel:
This amp has two channels. You can get a large variety of sounds from this amp. However, it is not set up to effectively switch channels during songs. It has this huge flexibility, but it is laid out in such a way that once you set your sound, it takes a bit of knob twisting to get to another sound. Not a bad thing, mind you... but a limitation of this mini-head format. Instead of having a single channel and little sound variety like most mini-heads, Krank has chosen to pack a lot of stuff into a small space.
First, you will notice on the far right a knob that say "Kleen Channel Volume" on top, and "Krank Channel Gain" on the bottom. This knob has a dual purpose depending the position of the red channel switching button directly to its left.
When the button is out, the Kleen channel is activated. When the Kleen channel is active, all of the EQ is bypassed. The Master Volume is bypassed. What you get is shimmering chimey clean sound. Incredible clean tones. Amazing warmth and girth to the sound. I was totally impressed right away with the Kleen sound. At 11 o'clock, the sound is crystal clear. When you turn it past noon, you start to add more power tube grind to the sound. At 9 o'clock, you have full-on AC/DC crunch.
Lets talk a bit about the Active FX Loop. You have your usual send and return jacks. In addition, you have an Active/Passive switch, and an FX Level knob. These are all in the back. I have some close ups of the back panel below. In the Krank Rev Jr Manual, it indicates that with the FX loop in passive mode, it is just that... a normal in and out FX loop. Pushing the button to turn on the Active FX Loop circuit basically kicks in another full bore gain circuit on the preamp. The manual makes a big bold recommendation about turning on the Active FX Loop even with nothing plugged into the FX Loop.
As mentioned above, with the Kleen channel volume at 9 o'clock, you have full-on AC/DC crunch. Kick in the Active FX Loop, turn the FX Level knob up to 3/4, and you get this amazing full-bore Plexi Cream era Clapton blues rock sound. It pushes the power tubes into a super sweat creamy overdrive that is to die for. This is all without activating the Boost switch... so there is still tons of headroom in the amp at this point.
And this so called mini-stack is loud! Very loud! 20 Watts my arse!
Lets get back to the front panel. Here is a close-up:
Clicking the channel selection button over to the Krank channel activates all of the front panel knobs. The Kleen Volume tranforms into the Gain knob. One of the early concerns about this amp was the lack of a foot switch jack. This explains why. Again, there is no real efficient way to channel switch during a song. It just wont work because of the knob sharing thing. Not an issue for me.
The Krank Channel provides full bore high gain bliss. Lets take a look at the knobs:
Sweep - adjusts all of the frequencies of the EQ with the twist of a knob. Transforms the amp from big ballsy low end thunder, to heavy duty crunch.
Bass
Midrange
Treble
Master Volume
Krank Channel Gain
I plugged in my DOA Caddy with custom wound Manlius "Bradworld Special" pickups. I started with all knobs at high noon. FX loop set to passive. With these settings the amp sounds quite unimpressive. I was surprised at the lack of volume and girth. I was actually a bit worried when I first got to this point! So I reached around the back an turned on the Active FX Loop. Whoa! The amp came to life. Beautiful high gain tube goodness started to flow. The sound was glistening with tone. The volume increased by at least a factor of five! Amazing!
As I fiddled with the tone knobs, it didnt take me long to find a bunch of usefull sounds with this amp. I found a nice spot with the Bass at 2 o'clock, and the Gain, Mid and Treble set to about 3 o'clock. This gave me a good tight modern metal sound. Very full, very loud, very tight. Not quite as tight as an Engl or Bogner, but definately tight enough for me. I gave the Sweep knob a twist to the left. Phat city! introduced a ton of low end balls! Twist the sweep the other way... back past noon, and over to the right side... total high gain crunch! After a while I backed off the gain a notch and settled into a killer Modded Marshall style hard rock tone.
So if you are looking for a really loud for its size, low wattage, versitile Krank, you can have it. Super high gain Metal ... Plexi style hard rock ... Shimmering clean tones. Its all there. So far I really love this amp.
And for all you patriots out there... from the back panel...
Made In USA...
I will post some sound samples as soon as I can. Thanks for listening!

Please excuse my lame-ass guitar playing... lol...
These clips were made with my DOA Caddy, Manlius custom made pups, directly into the Krank. I recorded this with an SM57, into an Edirol FA-101 interface, directly into Sonar. No pedals at all.
Here is the Krank Channel... Gain turned up about 60%. EQ set just about the same as in the detail pic above...
www.metalbreedrocks.com/mp3files/krank_test1-KrankChannel.mp3
Here is the Kleen Channel turned up about 3/4. Remember, the Kleen Channel only has the one volume knob active.

This one is the Kleen Channel with the same setting. As I play the progression, I am rolling on my volume knob on the guitar little by little.

This is some more of the Krank Channel... I added a bit of delay on this one after i recorded it dry...

Powered Mixer - Suggestions?
Anyone have a good suggestion for a 10 - 12 channel mixer in the 400 - 600w per side range? I'm currently using a Yamaha EMX660, but it's a tad underpowered for vocals and I would like more channels.
Behringer seems to make some with good specs, but I keep hearing bad things about Behringer. I like the looks and features on this one:
http://www.behringer.com/PMP5000/index.cfm?lang=eng
I also really like this by Yamaha - whose audio stuff I like.

yes i got my car back that was stolen the other day!!the dumbass pulled into my apartments with it and my buddy john saw them drive through my complex and park on the other side!!So i went out there and called the police nad got it back!!
It's been over a week since "the incident" and just now I am able to share.
So, I decided to get a solid wood Archtop Acoustic with floating pup - an Eastman AR810CE.
Got a pretty good deal on eBay. Sold a couple of geets to get her:
Then two Fridays ago UPS (2 day air) delivered this on a rainy day.
The odds finally caught up to me. After 2 years of receiving and shipping geets, the UPS devil got me!
I can now sympathize with those of you who have suffered this atrocity! I've been in a bad funk all week.
The dealer is still waiting on a replacement from the factory and will ship it to me at no additional cost.
I gotta say, a better job of packing could've been done. However, I'm not sure any amount of bubble wrap
and padding could've avoided any damage. It looks like that box fell off the truck, then opened for inspection,
the guitar taken out of it's case and accidentally scratched on it's side.
Okay...end of rant. I do not wish this on anybody! Thanks for letting me vent.
come on in if you're bored.....
Neck pickups?

i was wondering what dimarzio pickup would go best in the neck position compliment the X2N?
i would like sustained cleans, and warm overdriven tones
i will be playing this through a JCM 800
Where / how do I get one of these??
Maybe this has been asked before, but does anyone know anything about this guitar?
A Caddy with 24 frets and a Kahler?!?
Are these going to be available? Custom shop?
Fender's newest signature model
by Blazer on Sun Jul 15, 2007 10:49 am
It would appear that Fender is now signing up couples. After releasing a Deryck Whibley model earlier this year, it's now his wife's turn to get a guitar in her name.
The Fender Squier Avril Lavigne model Telecaster.
All jokes aside, this guitar will probably inspire a lot of girls to pick up playing guitar. And Avril is the second woman who's getting her own model with Fender. (Bonnie Raitt was the first)
Probably posted before but thought I would put the link here.

New Project, my own EVH tribute guitar
by Blazer on Sun Jul 15, 2007 8:11 pm
Well, with Vacation time here I figure it was time for me to start working on guitars I still had lying around unfinished.
Like this strat casco I got from somebody who never finished it. It has a lot of flaws, the neck is unusable, the trem rout is too shallow to actually put a working trem in and the body shape is too narrow to accept a normal strat pickguard.
But it happens to be made from Swamp ash and there's already a layer of primer on it. And I do have a neck that fits in perfectly. And so I got to thinking of turning it into something like this.
And this is where I am right now with this idea.
I'll probably fit either a Kahler Flatmount trem or a blocked off fender style trem bridge in and I still have to stripe it although I am thinking of doing something different like using Purlpe with silver stripes instead of red with white and black stripes although I'm not yet sure.
NEW AMP DAY AGAIN.........
by zao on Sun Jul 15, 2007 8:18 pm
i sold the pink alexi and i had a few bucks to spend.
so i bought a furman AR-15 SERIES II powerconitoner and voltage regulator built in 1 rack unit. my house i live in is only a year old but it been reading only 115v on my old conditioner, and this will bring it up to a steady 120v. so i think it was a good investment.
its got the voltage regulator and a really nice power conditioner in 1 unit. heres the specs
http://www.furmansound.com/product.php?div=01&id=AR-15_II
and i missed my 6505+ i used to have so i picked one of those up also, i really like these amps, for the money they cant be beat.
i also love the way they sound boosted with my od9. this amps hangs will all the big dawgs as far as im concerned.

Razor V ripoff!
by * on Mon Jul 16, 2007 1:40 am
the worst part is they keep it on the wall with ACTUAL deans
I bought my new Mesa Boogie "oversized" 4x12 cabinet two days ago. And I can't be more happier with it. I'm still using my VK100. I have the money to get just about any head I want but I love my VK. Here is a picture of it at my bands storage space we practice in.
Everyone's opinon is welcome. Aparently mine wasn't.
Like many of you out there, you are probably a member of more than one Forum. I also belong to Marshall, Vox, Gibson and Fender. Someone on the Fender Foum was asking advice on which model of Telecaster to by. After reading all of the threads going back and forth which I'm sure totally confused the poor guy, I chimed in and said "don't listen to us, listen to yourself". I went on to say choose the one that feels and sounds good to you. That's all. My God. I got totally trashed for saying that. You would have thought I recommended a WalMart special over a custom shop piece. I went back in and tried to clarify what I meant but they totally missed the point. Again. I finally said "forget it" and signed off. Permenantly.
My point is this. There is no right or wrong. It's all subjective. While everyone's opion should be welcome, let's try to keep in mind that in the final anylisis it's up to the user as to what is right for them. Am I right?
Thanks for listening,

Does this remind you of anything?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJEi1vP4l68
Lol, I was watching this video of a dude playing a theremin...It kinda reminded me of harmonic squeals.
Need help with n-track studio
I'm trying to record a harmony, but whenever I record the second guitar line for some reason it's like 10 times as loud as the first track and pretty much drowns it out. I don't understand why it would do that, I don't screw around with the program before making the 2nd track or adjust the volume on my amp, it doesn't make any sense.
post your back pron, the backs of guitars are always beautiful, and take the s#%t while you play. they hit your stuff, they get scratched up against a belt, they take s#%t, so this post is to the backs of guitars.
so...... post some pron!

What was this model called?
by Lon on Mon Jul 16, 2007 6:21 pm
There's a dealer on ebay calling this a prototype. What a crock. Dean made this model is red, white, and blue back around 2000-01. My local Dean dealer had some and they were crap. Even in my guitar noobiness I knew they were junk. Anyone remember what it was called?
please can someone help me out? Ive just changed string gauges from 9's to 11's. I have adjusted the truss rod, but once I tune up the floyd raises. It only had 3 springs so ive added to more but it still raises, and the screws are almost fully screwed in. I dont understand why it is still raised up, can anyone tell me what im doing wrong?

Well, today I found myself in my local store and the clerk goes: "Dude, I know you're not really into Flying V's but you've got to check this out!" Before handing me one of these...
Now I know from owning LTD guitars that they are killer value for money. So I take it with me for a test in the amps room. I plug it into a Boogie and start shredding. This guitar feels amazing and it sounds really tight. Those speedy rythm parts from bands like Megadeth are a breeze and the guitar never even had one single squeel no matter how loud I turned the amp up.
After shredding away on this guitar for a while I notice movement around me. When I looked up there were these teenagers looking at me in awe. Here's this 30 someting with a gut playing that cool stuff on an even cooler guitar.
However, the price of this thing kept me from buying it off the bat. But there will come a day that I will own one.
What type of wood is that???

I'm new here and my interest in Dean guitars is relatively new too...
I saw that ad with the girl and the hardtail spalted maple top and this is at this time that I started to consider Dean Guitars
but browsing the website I went into the usa regular hardtail, then there's a spalted page too...here I found this picture of this guitar
To me this is the most beautiful I ever seen
and unfortunately I just have 1500$ cdn for the moment; this is probably a lot more...If only I knew dean back in 2002 when I bought my Wolfgang...it's a great guitar BUT not what I really needed (I want one made of mahogany and I can't stand those poor quality gibson)
But my Question is does anyone know what is this kind of wood...???
I mean it looks a little like spalted maple but it's really darker?
and I guess Dean doesn't make them anymore, maybe this particular one is already sold since it's a 2003 and in the address, there's is nov2004, probably the date when the picture was posted on the website
I also prefer the chrome hardware to the satin on those actual spalted maple
If anyone knows anything about this guitar please help me!!!
thanks!!!
Is this an amberburst Caddy Select?
I recall a thread someone made a long time ago about Rob Barrett from Cannibal Corpse playing a Caddy.
http://www.deanguitars.com/cc/gal1/images/004_5A_JPG.jpg
That looks like an amberburst Caddy Select.
It's amazing looking! I've got gas for a blacked out Caddy Select now. Black Hardware, EMG 85/85...SMOKING!
Design and idea by ANTIVIRUS. could need some input, and some critism. thanks
ive been using ernie ball slinkys for a while now, but recently the last 2 packs ive bought have both come with dead G strings. so i want to try out a different brand of string, can anyone recommend some good ones to try out?
Ordered a Warmoth Body
by emunder on Tue Jul 17, 2007 2:47 pm
So my curiosity got the better of me and I put in an order for a Warmoth body. Should have it in about 4 weeks and I'll order the neck from them as soon as I have the cash. Project specs will be...
-King V shape w/ bevels & contoured heel...Alder.
-Single humbucker route...EMG 81.
-Recessed trem route...original Floyd.
-Single volume knob, no tone.
-Jackson style neck...Maple w/ Ebony fretboard and binding.
-Standard thin shape.
-Sharkfin inlays.
-24 frets w/ 6130 fretwire.
-Black hardware.
Thinking about painting it all black but I haven't decided yet. Should be a pretty nice guitar after it's all finished. I'll make sure to post some pron while it's being put together.
Behringer V amp ground problem
Picked up a Behringer GMX110 modeling amp at a yard sale for $10. I have output through the headphone jack but not the speaker. I tested the speaker, it's fine
Opened the chassis and see a ground wire floating around unattached. I don't see anywhere where it was attached. Went to the Behringer site and no help w/ a schematic or anywhere elsewhere online
If anyone has a V amp schematic or can look in their amp and see, it is the ground next to the transformer. The grounds are ridiculously small, like a spider web. I am pretty sure that the ground setups are the same for all the V amp models
It's a decent sounding little 30w amp and the modeling sounds decent, reminds me of a Line 6 POD
Thanks in advance
first photoshop <-- plz reply im rather bord
by 333 on Tue Jul 17, 2007 3:39 pm
yeah this is my first ever so what you guys think?? the bottom sort of faded out the picture but i dunno how to stop it
**EDIT**
ok heres the new one
24 frets
RESURRECTED!!! now with porn
Everyone who has been around awhile remembers that I bought a certain ML shaped guitar with a whacky custom paint job and that shortly thereafter once I upgraded the bridge pup to an X2N it took a dive and snapped the neck...
Well, the Jolly Roger ML is back with a mended neck...
Now all it needs is the black hardware put back on it (it's currently wearing the chrome from my white ML 79 lol) and a good X2N/Dimebucker/L-500XL put back in it and my SIT's added and it's back as a stage guitar...
YES
figured i should post pics of my geetars
But im doing something wrong with putting them in,sorry for the below 70 IQ type question but can someone walk me through how to put pics on?

Anyone here owned/tried the Line 6 Guitar Port RiffTracker?
This thing right here:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Line-6-GuitarPort-RiffTracker?sku=700519
Anyone use this? I'm looking for something that I can plug my guitar right into and record directly into my PC without using a mic. One of the reviews said it's hard to organize your riffs into the exact places they should be and have little empty transitions between. Anyone have any issues like that? Any comments on it would be greatly appreciated, I really want to start recording.
Most Importantly: i will update this post with new guitars, but they won't be put in the original post, but added as a reply, so scan through for new guitars added on as replies. (thanks to Metalmonkey for the idea.)
I'm putting all photoshops into one thread, i know that posting them individually is annoying so i'll stop. the main point is the photoshops. i'm dropping them into one thread, and they won't ever be single posts. thanks for all the constructive criticism. if your just gonna complain that they're ugly, then please don't bring down the thread.
thanks to all sorry for the crap. here ya go. the single s#%t will not happen again.
thanks guys.
heres some s#%t i've put together over the past couple minutes, nothing great but it looks interesting.
FBD inaccuracies.
by * on Tue Jul 17, 2007 8:06 pm
the CFH is pretty much dead on as far as features go you know, with pickups and such to "the holy grail", right?
but the pickups in the FBD are BOTH pickups that are not in the actual FBD, from what i remember.
didn't the FBD have a duncan pickup that was not the dimebucker in the bridge, and a duncan 59 in the neck? also the neck pickup bezel was cream
the production fbd has a dimebucker in the bridge, and the dean pickup in the neck.
why would they go so far out of their way to mismatch the saddles of the floyd to make the guitar an accurate reproduction if they aren't going to use the same pickups?
not that i care, because i'm scrapping the stock pickups anyway. i just thought that was kind of odd.
what deans without floyds(sorry can't remember the name) can you get for 500$ or less? i've constantly been looking at carlinos, and BRG's, posts and the guitars they got in there are amazing.
Do you love metal and do you love Telecasters?
by Blazer on Wed Jul 18, 2007 12:24 am
Meet the fender Jim Root signature Telecaster.
Mahogany Body
Maple neck
Nitro White with black pick guard has ebony fretboard
Nitro black with white pick guard has maple fretboard
12" radius fretboard
Contoured neck heel
String through body
22 jumbo frets
Fender locking machines
EMG 60 neck
EMG 81 bridge
Three way blade switch
One volume (Strat style)
70's Tele logo
Looks like a cool axe to grind. It's kinda funny how Teles are becoming hip with Metal guys, John5 plays a tele and Stephen Carpenter's new Signature ESP is tele shaped.
I guess that that humble Fender solid still has the attraction as a no-nonsense guitar.
is this microphone any good?
http://www.dv247.com/invt/28349/
its pretty cheap and the spec says, 'Response tailored for neutral reproduction of instrument sounds.' so would it be worth buying or should I go for something else? i just want to be able to record myself playing, dont need it to be emi records quality or anything
My Bands CD Released Worldwide Today.
by Vekin on Wed Jul 18, 2007 3:33 am
Needed to share this. I'm pretty excited. My bands (The Rezidudes) CD "Welcome to the Suck" which originaly came out in April on an independent label Screaming Ferret Wreckords was picked up by a major label "Locomotive Records" out of Madrid Spain and released Worldwide Today from China to Cali and everywhere in between as well available on every possible online site you can imagine.
Here is a picture of me buying the first copy this morning at a record store here in Manchester, NH.
Here's a couple quotes from reviews that I thought were funny.
RUBEN MOSQUEDA - PIVITOL ALLIANCE
"The Rezidudes are a group of fun, tone deaf, nitwits that could teach faux punk bands like Green Day or Good Charlotte a thing or two about what punk’s really about."
METALCORE MAGAZINE
THE REZIDUDES / Welcome To The Suck (Locomotive Records) Now this was some really cool old school punk rock/hardcore. This is raw the way it needs to be. The band crank out a bunch of cover tunes and make them into their own twisted sound. California Dreaming never sounded so good or fast ha ha. 20 tunes are found here and each one is a classic in it's own way. I love the way the band did these as they made them their own. "Come Dancing" by The Kinks is given the speed treatment as is "Country Roads" by John Denver. "Ace of Spades' by Motorhead is done to perfection. An excellent release of what hardcore should be and that is fun and fast.
GETCHA PULL...KEV.

Have a guitar question. I've been playing for 3 years now. I've progressed alot, and everyone keeps saying I'm good. Not trying to brag or whatever. But I've been playing on really bad equipment for over 3 years now. A 100$ Squier guitar and a 30$ Wal-mart amp. The strings have to be set so high that it feels like playing on an acoustic, but my fingers have gotten used to soloing on it. I ain't gonna put anymore money into it, I'll be working soon, and I'll get some better equipment. The only question I have is, how much of a difference is playing a guitar like mine, to playing a guitar like the 1,000$ Razorback gonna be? And will it make a huge sound difference?
ok, i have seen some musicians have there fingers or palms either taped to like... tied off or sumthing. on the picking hand... what does that do? what advantages does it have?

Train Accidents
by BLOYD on Wed Jul 18, 2007 1:45 pm
This unreal accident happened here Monday afternoon. Four people in a car where hit by a train. I used to work RIGHT behind where the accident happened, I crossed these train tracks at this very intersection every day…the company cameras located on the dock where I used to unload some of my equipment captured the train hitting the car…my wife still works at this company and said she spoke with people who witnessed it, they said it was one of the most gruesome sights they’ve ever seen…almost surreal...especially the aftermath.
Yesterday another Amtrak train hit a guy 7 miles away and killed him AND last month ANOTHER Amtrak train hit and killed a girl about 2 miles away…That’s 3 deadly train wrecks here this month!
Oh, all these people where trying to go around the barriers…so moral of the story?…don’t go around train track barriers!
Here are still photos Mondays train accident that killed four:

60s Rocker, tell me about your SG clone
by Lon on Wed Jul 18, 2007 3:19 pm
You've got a Jay Turser SG clone right? How do you like it? What mods have you done to it? I'm gassing for another SG but can't afford a Gibson right now. The Tursers look pretty good and upgradeable. Thanks. I found your original thread but want to know how it's held up and what you might have done in the way of improvements.
How cranked does a tube amp need to be to sound good?
What do people mean when they say cranked? do they mean all the way up or just half way up? on my rg100es i dont even have the volume past 1 and thats loud enough. in the future I want to get a peavey 5150 (or 6505, whatever) and I know tube amps need to be 'cranked' to sound good, so how loud are we talking here? atm i just play in my bedroom so i cant have the volume up too loud
Hey ML lovers
by Lon on Wed Jul 18, 2007 6:36 pm
Check this out. Found it on a Canadian site. $2200 Cdn. 1994, chambered 2 1/2 inch thick body, bound ebony board, 2 Super Distortions.
Are these V's top heavy? i.e. If you have it strapped on does the head dive towards the floor if you let go of it? How about MLs?
well today i was searching about ebay, trying to find some stuff, and i went under the parts section, and of course right at the top of the list is "Bodies." so i click on it and it brings up all these fenders, and other s#%t like that. i type in "SG". theres about 8 SG guitars, that can be easily modded. i looked at this as my chance to do what i've always wanted to do, and thats make a guitar for exactly me. not to fit everybody, but just designed the way i want it.
its like 50 bucks for a body, and neck, but with no hardware, which is perfect. drop some EMGs in there, black grovers, speed knobs, the works. estimated cost: around 300 bucks. get Greg to wire the whole thing. and it'd be done. unfortunatley, i couldn't decide whether to do black, silver, or gold hardware.
i know its a gibson, not a dean, and i feel terrible about doing the project, but i will probably end up using the Dime-o-flame more anyway...
i'll update this in a couple months, when i finally start this project, and have the money for it.
thats where you guys come in. i need help deciding which looks best.
heres a couple new previews:

uk division of D.O.A
by sl!me on Wed Jul 18, 2007 9:27 pm
hey guys,
just finished reading this month's isue of Total Guitar, towards the back there is a "Dean HQ Report" , Good article i enjoyed reading it. "A UK division of D.O.A is in the pipeline" just wondering when this is coming to life?. sry if this has been posted before its my first day on the forums
Matt Heafy's Signature Dean + 7 String (pics soon probably)
According to a guy who got a phone call from Matt (for being the first one to register to Trivium's official fan club yesterday) he has the prototype now and will be playing it at Trivium's upcoming shows (including last night's). So...we can expect pictures VERY VERY SOON. wooo...
I shouldn't even post this for fear of being committed to "GAS" anonymous!
However, here goes.... I bought another Dean Icon, yes my third. This one was too pretty to pass up. As you guys know these are getting harder and harder to find. I really like the tone, playability and the craftsmanship of these guitars. All three of them are slightly different which makes things interesting.
Anyhow this one should be here early next week. Here are some pictures provided by the seller.

I was just watching the show "The next best thing" at work and I noticed the house band's guitarist was playing a Caddy.
If anyone has posted this before...then sorry. Haha

The first thing from Ibanez that I actually like... (NDC)
so, I got my Ibanez BTB455QM 5 string bass last monday, and I must say, I don't like Ibanez's, but this thing's awesome! They even make their logo haard to see with a huge BTB in the corner of the headstock and a tiny Ibanez logo just above it, like they realized they didnt want to screw it up!
well anyway, this thing's got active Bartolini's running at 18 volts and its awesome! The neck isn't the infamous Ibanez paper thin, they decided to make this one more traditional, bu while its not that thin, its not that thick. its the perfect 5 string neck me. When you put the pickup blend more favoring the bridge, it sound like an overdriven Rickenbacker (which is my absolute favorite tone of all time!). Its got a VariMid preamp which is pretty awesome, when you turn it while playing, it sounds like a wah pedal. 35" scale is awesome for the tense low b, so you can play really fast and the string will keep up! the pickups respond beautifully, and this has got a TON of output. great for my style (a cross between Cliff Burton, Eric Langlois, Les Claypool and John Myung.... I can't play nearly as well as these dudes, but its essentially the same styles.), and I'm sure this thing would be killer for anything that the bass needs to be hears in.
Cons: bolt-on (I would've liked a neckthru, but none had nearly the same quality, tone or appointments for the price ($585)). Also, its got dot inlays which I'm not crazy about, but I can deal with it. Lastly, I like my string setup around low/middle, and it does this absolutely perfectly. If you want extremely low string height, you will need a serious set up to get it do this.
Pretty much, its awesome. Pic is now my avatar. If I get a chance, my vocalist took some pics at band practice, so I'll try to get some of the pics up with it.
Trivium was the most fun I've ever had at a concert-Pron!!!
by dmsdj5 on Thu Jul 19, 2007 7:04 am
....in the morning.
Got all of the specs on Matt and Corey's sig models and got to see the pics of their prototypes(you'll all see them soon, they get them on the 22nd).You guys will love Matt's model. You guys will just have to wait for 3 more days to see his prototype(if he decides to play it-he said it is smaller than he wants is).
I finally got to play their Dean's.The best one I played was Matt's main Timecapsule ML.It was most comfotable and in between in weight. The Razorback V's were also badass, but heavier than their actual Razorbacks.Their custom 7 strings have not been finished yet,so they are using the black/yellow imports until then(with an official floyd). The guys have switched amps.......again.They told me that they were not going to leave this combo for anything. The Peavey 6505 with a Marshall 1960 cab.
The new material that Matt played for me was like Dream Theater technicallity with gallop picking and complexity that will make people LITERALLY s#%t their pants. He played me 6 demos, and showed me how to play the main riffs of some of them.
And last but not least,I now know the difference in the Seymour Duncan Blackouts and EMG's.They sound almost identical, but the EMG has higher range in highs and mids. The Black Out has more clarity,a little less hiss, but also less gain.Either way they sound the same to the naked ear;especially when you have gobs of distortion.
I'll have photos up tomorrow(took over 300 for the Trivium fansite). But,I've been up since 6 am,and I want some sleep.
anyone played the dipinto hellion?
i have major gas for the dipinto hellion
this guitar is in a dealer not far from my home (:
Ebony board, multi ply binding, set neck, and ill probably get the black and gold one (:
it cost less than a razorback(850+100 fitted hard case)
Washburn Dimeslime 333

line 6 pocket pod/pod 2.0
im after something fairly cheap that I can use to practice through, and it has to have a headphone jack. at first i was going to get a roland microcube, but then i just logged on to www.soundcontrol.co.uk (a local guitar store's website) and saw an advertisment for a line 6 pocket pod, just £69. i saw that it has 32 amp models programmed in, a headphone jack, and you can download patches from line 6 website for it. so i figured it seems like the perfect thing for me..
...or is it? are they any good? are they worth buying? i would mostly be using it through headphones if i got one (I cant play my main rig in the evening because our next door neighbour has a 4 year old kid who sleeps early) and I want it to sound fairly decent, im not expecting tube tone from it but i dont want it if it sounds like crud. has anyone here got one/used one and can give me feedback on them? also i also noticed the pod 2.0 is £99, is there much difference between that and the pocket pod? which would be worth buying? (if any!)

Brought a guitar back from the dead.
by Blazer on Fri Jul 20, 2007 12:13 am
Last week I saw a cheap plywood guitar lying in a dumpster and me being me, I got it out. It was in terrible shape. The bass side was completely split open and cracked, the bridge was cracked and was dangling from being attached with one wood screw, the other was AWOL. So I took it home and got out my "Construction tix" wood glue, my wood clamps and my duct tape and got to work and here's the result.
This picture shows that the rosette was gone too. But I kinda like the way it makes this guitar look.
The side of the guitar, you can clearly see the seperation line between the back plate and the side, running from the heel all the way down.
And here's the crack in the side.
The Bridge was not salvagable so I shaved it down and used a tailpiece. Clearly visible in this picture is the woodscrew which held the thing in place.
I'll probably give it as a birthday present to my best friend's daughter who always wanted to have a guitar. And this one would be perfect for her since it doesn't matter if it get's damaged.
Finally! PICTURES from Trivium last night-Lots of Deans!

They were honestly, the NICEST guys I have ever hung out with all day.If you ever hear that they are stuck up or anything like that,it's a frippin lie.Matt and Corey both get their prototypes in Chicago(this sunday),so the rest of you will get to see them.I'm not a huge V guy,so I will take Matt's over Corey's anyday. You guys will love the shape, but be upset that "there's a Trivium inlay".Oh well...Here are a few of my favorites
I co-promoted the show,as well as work at the venue they play at.I made them a home made dinner, which they loved and took everything with them.Watching Matt warm up is quite a moral booster. It reminded me how much I suck at guitar. But,it also makes me want to practice my ass off to get to that level. We chilled till about 1 am,then they had to head off to FV pre-production.
It was an amazing time and they are a incredible bunch of guys.Best thing,is that I get to do it all again in Atlanta in 3 weeks!
Started work on a telecaster.
by Blazer on Fri Jul 20, 2007 12:35 am
This week I finally decided to start working on a guitar made from the Cedrella I bought earlier this year. And here's what I'm planning.
I have two pieces of very tightly flamed maple but they are too narrow to use as a book matched top, So I have no choice but to use another piece of maple as a mid section. The guitar will have two seymour duncan classic cover humbuckers and a rear routed construction so it doesn't have a pickguard. It'll have a glued in maple neck with an ebony fingerboard.
Here's the cedrella with the three pieces of maple that'll make up it's three piece maple top
And here's the routing template.
I'll keep you guys informed on how this will progress.
Anyone play one of these things? How do they sound, I remember picking one up at guitar center in the used guitars area and it felt really light and plasticky so I put it down, but now looking at it...I'm thinking maybe I shoulda plugged it in.
I guess...
I did a totally swift manuever with my DBDT ML yesterday and dented the back of the neck pretty deep. Well, i'm not a fan of unpainted necks anyways, so I got the idea to take the neck off of my Epiphone Les Paul Special II and slap it on the ML. Finished project pics (not that it took long to take the neck off and put the other on)...
I didn't bolt the neck in, but this makes me think that Soltero's need V headstocks...
furman pq3-4 alternative??
surely there must be other analog parametrics out there that r just as good with the same bandwiths that dont cost 250 bucks???anyone??
Anyone know some info on this guitar? (2nd from the right)
Actually I look at it and it looks more along the lines of an Explorer type guitar. But i have no idea what it is, but I have to say it looks kind of ugly.
Okay. So.....
I want an RG100ES, a Dixie Rebel, and a Furman PQ3 or PQ4.
Keep in mind, i'm not a Dimesheep at all, I just like this particular gear...
I'm gonna look like a complete Dime wannabe ain't I?
I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU GUYS BUT I'M GETTING REAL SICK OF THESE DAMN POSTS. I AIN'T GOT NOTHING AGAINST ANTIVIRUS BUT THE POSTS OF NOTHINGNESS ARE MEANT IN THE OFF-TOPIC SECTION, OR NOT EVEN IN THIS FORUM AT ALL. SO PLEASE STOP POSTING THESE TOPICS BECAUSE PEOPLE WILL JUST SIT THERE AND RIP ON YOU EVEN MORE, ALSO TAKE DOWN THE MUSIC ON YOUR MYSPACE, ITS JUST ANOTHER THING FOR THEM TO RIP ON YOU FOR. but this is THE best forum iv ever been on... lol
to fix the pot. i had called up about 5 places nearby, and they all wanted 40 bucks or more to fix the pot i had screwed up in the dime-o-flame. so i ended up talking to my guitar teacher last saturday, telling him of my problems with it , and the crazy prices. he said yeah its a real easy job, i'll do it for 30. i was extremely grateful for the fact he was able to knock down the price for me. i still think thirty is a little bit crazy, but you know its way better than 45.
unfortunately, i don't have a case for the dime-o-flame so i never have taken it in for lessons. i had the thirty bucks on me right there, and i could've given it to him right there but i had my black strat. so i'm taking the flame in tomorrow, to have the pots replaced. so i don't know how long that'll be. i will miss it. it goes tomorrow, so i shall play it all tonight.
i guess the lesson i've learned out of all of this is the famous quote:
"good things come to those who wait." i waited and found a way better deal. so next time you need something, just wait, look around and find a good deal, who knows it might save you money.
How do you record with podxt?
I bought a podxt today (was going to get a pod 2.0 but i saw the xt and decided to get it because it was better than the 2.0) and I love it, but i cant figure out how to record stuff. I have downloaded and installed all drivers, etc, and have used gearbox to edit my patches and stuff, but i havent a clue how to make the sound go into my pc and record. on the line 6 website it says the usb cable is used for recording, but I cant figure out how. can anyone help me out?
PROJECT PORN! Vendetta single pup matte black
I'm doing this thing for forum member grinder to take on his crust/grind tour to Brazil!
First you get a Vendetta XM, then you fill the neck pup cavity, turn the bridge pup into a direct mount and paint the sucker matte black.
This is what you get:
Still working on the hardware and the pup mount, then grinder will take care of the electronics and EMG'ing 81 this beast.
I will post more porn and step-by-step pics when the project is complete and I have more time.

just came across this on the bay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190133512352
perhaps i'm a guitarsnob, but if you can't manage to tune a guitar on your own maybe it's time to switch to a different instrument? perhaps even give up music altogether?
Band I could possibly be starting up...
Well, there's this guy that just broke up with his old hardcore band "If It Ends Tonight" for creative differences and whatnot. Well, he is probably going to want to start up a band within the next month, soooo...
Basically, here's the breakdown:
Pros:
1. He has a lot of connections in the Tupelo, MS "hardcore scene." Is this a good thing? Yes, in my opinion, it is.
2. He can do pretty much everything...guitar, recording, vocals...
3. He is very musically talented.
Cons:
1. I hate hardcore music, except stuff like Discharge, etc. The new screamocore crap is annoying...
2. If we do play a gig...people will be doing hardcore dances, probably resulting in me falling on the ground in a riot of laughter.
So...as you can see, pros override the cons by very little. But, since music is my life and I like to try different stuff, i'm more than up for it. He likes to express himself musically like I do. If we do get this going, i'm going to try to add more straight up metal and less annoying hardcore breakdowns, whatever they are.
I'm very excited. I'll keep you guys updated on how things are working out (not that anyone really cares, but I will anyways.)
What kind of stuff do you have to specify to the dealer/whoever when you're starting the process of getting a custom USA Dean built? Like, wood type, etc.
I'd like to know pretty much everthing. I searched but couldn't find anything on the subject matter.

Bel Aire on the bay, 4 hours left

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170131851444
spotted this the other day and have been watching it silently.
finally decided today that as much as i want a project bel aire, i have too many guitars and not enough time.
so, for anyone who wants a fixer-upper bel aire on the cheap, have at it--i won't be bidding.
The second time was a charm...This one arrived in one piece after the first was cracked at the neck heel
two weeks ago. Kudos to the dealer for getting a replacement in my hands pronto with no hassle attached!
Eastman AR810CE: Hand made in Bejing, China. Hand carved Solid spruce top and maple back and sides. Three piece maple neck,
ebony fingerboard with medium-jumbo frets. The fret work is on par with my US geets. Kent Armstrong floating pup, volume and
tone controls under the ebony pickguard. A sweeet ebony cover on the tailpiece rounds out this baby. Now de pron:
She plays wonderfully with a nice C-neck and what feels like a 12"radius fingerboard. The sound is full and exceptionally loud.
I'm very happy with this baby. Losing the first one to the UPS devil was a nightmare that reverberated for two weeks.
All is good in my universe again.
What song are you playing?

I was just wondering what the quality would be of that?
Today i went and got the Furman SPB-8 Pedal Board and some Strings..
The pedal board is sweet! has all the connections you could need, and its built like a tank. 3VAC outlets for plugging in whatever you need, 8 VDC outlets that come with cables that go straight to your pedals. And all the input/outputs for the guitar/amp/FX.
I dont have it all set up yet, i still want to get a CFH Wah, and then i have to measure up what size cables i need to get. right now is just my Noise Gate, Tuner, OD, and my switch for the 5150 Channels.
I also got some different strings.. Ernie Ball Power Slinkys, 11-48. I was using 10-46, but these were just that wee little bit heavier that i was looking for. definitely made that small change in low end like i was hoping. and after getting to use my friends ESP as the guinea pig, i have it down pretty good how to setup the Floyd rose with a string change.. whoo, go me.
just thought i'd share.
DOA guitar sighting in Indianapolis Guitar Center!
I made a trip out to the Indianapolis Guitar Center and saw a 2004 #21 of 50 DOA ML! They had it marked as used for $749.95 if I remember right. I didn't have any kind of camera with me, so I couldn't take a picture of it. It looked to be in really great shape. It had what looked like tarnish on the back V behind the bridge and it REALLY needed to be wiped down something awful, but it played LIKE A DREAM! I feel priviledged just to be able to hold the thing! It was just a KILLER guitar! I asked two guys there how long it had been in there and they didn't know. (Typical Guitar Center idiots.) Someone needs to go buy that thing and keep it from getting ruined by that damned Guitar Center...or someone could just lend me $800 and let me free it from it's Guitar Center prison.
ok. last night i went to sounds of the underground... AMAZING! there were MANY weak ass screamo bands there... and Necro (worst band EVER) then there were some heavy hitters, Chimaira... GWAR! (beefcake was using 2 tone razorback bass) Shadows Fall... Amon Amarth, and 9mm Solution, and when 9mm was done playing i got to meet all of them and got my bandanna signed, then after getting drenched in fake blood nd whatnot i went to wait to meet some other band members from various bands... thats when i met the singer of amon amarth, then waited a little bit longer and got the attention of Brian from shadows fall where i met him and the drummer then went and hung out with Brian for about 45 min, it was great, i have seen them a few times and always wanted to meet him... now i did lol
yes, im fully aware i sound really stupid... but i am excited, it was a great time
I know there's ALOT of tube head user's here so I'd like to hear your input on this.
I'm step'n up again and gett'n a tube head. Comeing up I will have a sweeeet deal on a Krank Rev1. I'll either be picking that up or if I decide not I'll be gett'n a Peavey 6506+. On my last stint with tube amps I changed all the tubes and re-biased it .... cause stock sucks . Last time I went with a full re-tube from Eurotubes (JJ tubes) and I loved them. But there are better tubes out there like the TAD 6L6WGC-STR Blackplate.
So either I'll do this.
https://ssl.eurotubes.com/cart/index.php?page=view_products&category_id=99&sub_category_id=100
Or get the TAD individually (matched of course) and go with the GT-12AX7-M for my pre-amp.

Short Bottle Design
http://www.thetubestore.com/tad-6l6wgc.html
GT-12AX7-M
http://www.groovetubes.com/product.cfm?Product_ID=2100
Btw the GT-12AX7-M is an amazing pre-amp tube.
so ...... anyone got a favorite combination of tubes?
I'm look'n for as much gain as possible of course, and IMHO with quality tubes I won't sacrifice tone and also have a bone-crushing sound.
a few questions... amps and guitars nd such...
ok, i have some questions about amps... i have a solid state crate and when i turn it up even a little it get's a humming sound that is unbearable... when i was trying out mesa's at the guitar shop when i turned them up they didnt have that... so is it the fact that its a solid state or is it just cause its a low quality amp?
and then my other question is... what do those bars that go on the strings do? (im talkin about those little bars that are on the headstock behind the little plastic peice)
Thanks
ok, i need to be taken to rackmount school, i dont know anything about them so i dont know where to look, i want to build myself a rackmount rig so i can get the tone i have been looking for, can you help me out? what do i need?
found a sweet new band...
their called Yyrkoon, they are from france... they are THE s#%t!!
just thought i would let yall know

hey I was wondering what amps, pedals and settings metallica used to record '...and justice for all'? does anyone know?

Went to GC today! NEW GIT!
...On Lay-Away
I was walking around, Not expecting much. Until I came across A Washburn Black Dime V with a Dimebucker installed!
I fell in love with it, I couldnt pass is up. I got it on layaway as of now
Pictures as soon as I get tp bring it home!
OK, my official "Newbie axe porn" post.
Here we go, my two axes, and the setup I used today. I do have a larger amp (Kustom Tube-12)...but for screwing around on the couch, the Pignose is king.
The setup, both axes.
Mmm, I love a nice woodgrain finish!
Hell yes!
My camera flipped out constantly on this shot, so screw it....it's dark. Notice there are only two screws in the Tremolo...this is intentiona, and those are in fact Claw screws....I had some issues with the actual trem screws pulling out with usage, so I took a dremel to the bridgeplate. And yes, those are 10k/10k/12k hot rails, 500k pots...I did that work myself. Harmonics are cake on this thing.
LOL @ my Target Strat....amazingly the headstock looks really nice in this photo.
I realized I like completely rigid picks....and I found these awesome ones made from silver quarters on Ebay...so I bought a bunch up
The cute little Pignose....loudest f'ing battery powered amp I have ever seen...the neighbors have gotten pissed at me for turning this thing up, especially with that strat. This little piggy can squeal
Fraudulent Purchase/Stolen Guitar Alert!!! NDC
by BRG on Mon Jul 23, 2007 2:43 am
Hey guys ... a little help if you can!
We sold a one-of-a-kind Garrison on June 19 ... were just notified that the CC was used fradulently in the purchase. Even though we followed proper procedures, the CC company is reversing the charges and making us pay it back.
Anyone in the Chicago area, please watch for the following:
Garrison Grand Concert size (aka Auditorium Size ... thin body, slightly smaller than a dreadnaught)
Solid Koa back and Sides
Solid BearClaw Spruce top
Ebony Board
Mahogany Neck
Buzz Feiten Tuning
Gold Hardware
The label inside the guitar reads:
Koa Custom Shop
followed by the serial number
This was the very first Koa Garrison ever made; was shown in Anaheim at NAMM 07; was shipped with a letter of authenticity signed by Chris Griffiths, founder of Garrison Guitars. This guitar was the inspiration for the current G90 line of Canadian made Garrisons.
Our local police department, along with the Chicago PD have all supporting documentation including Signature of recipient along with his name and the address to which the guitar was shipped along with photos and are investigating this fradulent purchase.
Valued at $2100.00.
I will post pics on Monday.
ANY info will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Steve

Humbuckers & Single Coils
by Pete on Mon Jul 23, 2007 5:51 pm
Ok, so yeah , i love the cruchy sound of the humbucker on high gain, but dont have any strats of any single coil guitars.
I was wondering, are there any single coils that have the size of a standard Humbucker?
Or anyway to put a single coil sound in a Humbucker guitar without spending over 100 or so?
If so, what brand/pickup?
strap locks
by Brendan on Mon Jul 23, 2007 6:12 pm
I'm going up to a guitar shop in a couple of days and I'm probably going to get strap locks for my DOA HT bass (I don't think the kind of bass will be of any importance but hell it might) what kind of strap locks would you recommend?
Haven't heard anything about this year's Summer Namm... and we're almost there (July 27–29, 2007).

Has anyone tried one out? I need something to use for playing in our youth praise & worship band. Thanks.
my band had a show lat ight, it went pretty well. it was the first show we played predominantly original material which felt good, and even better the crowd dug it too, which made it even better. we would have had a better turnout but there was a festival not to far from here that a lot of people went to instead and it hurt our ticket sales.
sorry about the blurryness for some of them, drunk photographers plus being actuve on stage makes for blurry pics
there were morethen just those 2 guys, just not a lot of people were right up close to the stage.
it was a fun night, there were two bands that travelled all the way from vancouver on a tour, they were pretty good, awesome guys to hang out with. hooked us up with some free stuff, demo's, stickers, that kinda stuff. if you get a chance to see them you should deffinetely check them out. ninja spy, they are a really cool mix of ska and metal, really fun stuff and their bassist is phenominal, you can check them out at www.ninjaspy.net . batoche (also from vancouver) are a pretty killer metal band, talked with one of their guitarists before the show for a while about guitars and amps and all that jazz, let him play my 79, pretty sure he loved the feel. you can check them out at www.myspace.com/batocheband . hope you take some time to check both these guys out they are real cool guys and put on a really good show.
took these pics about an hour or so ago, the base painting is done, the back just needs a bit of sanding to get rid of the orange peel texture going on fro mthe spray paint
it is more red then it looks like in the pics a little lighter then a blood red
should look real killer once i get the polyurethane on there and the gold harware
planning on putting somethign on the headstock, just not sure what yet.
here you can see the lovely black back, not gonna lie its mostly to hide flaws in the wood, mostly, also did it in hopes that it would bring out a bit more of the colour in the top, it helps
just wanted to show off the black sides along with the top, yeah mahogany is not the prettiest of woods but i like having a bit of contrast in the top rather then just a flat colour.
that'll probablly be all the pron thats going up for a while because i am moving in to my own place on wednesday and my camera sucks and i have been using my sisters. plus the clear coat is the next step and your supposed to let that sit for at least a week before you install the hardware.

I have a GMW Randy rhoads polka dot v..i had emgs in it a 85-60
im looking for a different tone out of it older ozzy sound any suggestions?
thanks in advance
So I'm playing the CFH and I do a VH maove where I slacken all the strings and tap the back of the neck repeatedly. I hear two loud snaps. Your thinking it's strings right. Nope!
I broke the locking nuts for the DGBE strings. Thats right. I broke 2 of the square nut thing in one move. I'm friggin shocked. So I'm off to find replacement so my brother dosen't hang me. It technically his guitar now since I'm getting the DFH. Last time I visited him I broke his floyd arm right off his razorback. I'm having some bad luck with his axes.
I'm looking for a footswitch for my 5150 head. And i've noticed a "reverb" switch on them, BUT..there is no reverb on the amp itself.. i'm confused..?? anyone know anything about that? or have one?
:O:O a usa dean in australia at a shop!?
i was looking at the website of the only shop in my state that i know sells deans, mannys, and i noticed they had a usa rebel razorback for sale. the few times ive been there, they've had no USAs, and very few deans at all. apparently its the only one in australia (which wouldnt come as a surprise to me)

you have been playing a dime signature since you've been with dean...you finally get your OWN signature model, you can play anything you dream up..what is it going to be?
a modified version of a dime signature made by another guitar company.
not for nothing, the guitar looks good, but it's definately not a "new" shape by any stretch of the imagination.
personally, i don't mind their music so much(there's a lot of worse stuff you could be listening to), but come on!

Chafin Buddha V
by BLOYD on Tue Jul 24, 2007 2:46 pm
Chafin Buddha V
For those who’ve been around for a while already knows the history Ben Chafin has with Dean Guitars…for those who are relatively new here I’ll spend a second to elaborate. Ben used to work as head luthier for Dean and has had a hand in the design and development of a few Dean models over the years. Ben left Dean a few years back to pursue his own custom shop line of guitars. Ben’s shop is just a couple of miles down the road from Dean HQ here in Tampa.
So, here she is. This guitar was started around August of 2005. It has been a burden of love for Ben ever since ...he curses me actually. There was no real rush to get her done and really, but is was a prototype and the paint job took the bulk of the time. It was done in Nitrocellulose, which takes a little longer to harden between coats. The first coats Ben painted were a trans Amber color, and then he finished up with a topcoat of Brown. It turned out really cool because when you look at it under certain angles and lighting it produces a Goldish sheen to the brown; very cool effect!
When Ben did the final setup he called me to come by the shop and check it out. Wow, the action was great and felt like an old LP fretless wonder…slinkyish…I love that feel when combined with low action. Despite the Korina body it was a little heavier than I anticipated, still all good. This guitar will get a lot of playtime!
Part of the pic is a little washed out but hey...you get the idea...
Wood:
Body – Korina (Black Limba)
Neck - 5-piece: Korina, Bubinga, Wenge, Bubinga, Korina
Real flamed maple binding on the neck and headstock
Ebony fret board
Ebony Face plate with Abalone Chafin logo.
Scale length: 24 ¾
Frets: 22
Hardware:
Tuning Keys – Locking Gotohs
Tremolo – Hipshot
Pickups:
PRS Vintage Bass
PRS Dragon
PRS Treble
Electronics:
Tone and Volume
Three way switching…each is set for parallel, series, off. Each selector works in conjunction with one another for ultimate tonal variations.
The single switch next to the Volume is a master kill switch.
