Randall Badge for amp, Anyone have? Where buy?
by otomix on Fri Aug 01, 2008 3:20 pm
Hey Crew,

Just about to take delivery of my RG100ES from a fellow forumite (woohoo!!) However, it doesn't have the randall badge and I wouldn't have the faintest where to get one. I emailed randall, and they said they wont get me one regardless how many randall amps i own.... the best they would do me is a sticker.

Does anyone have a spare randall badge laying around they would send me for some $$$ compensation? I'm going to have the amp recovered in new tolex etc, and want it to look awesome as its going to be my gigging head (when i actually get time off work... )

Thanks guys, I know i can count on my 'Dean Brotherhood' *beating chest like a gorilla*

It's here 6505 PRON *Now with sound clip*
by Lanning is Killdozer on Fri Aug 01, 2008 9:07 pm
Man this is 85lbs of pure evil.... Twisted Evil I am glad to be back to the 6505. I plugged her up and fooled around with it for about 20 minutes just to make sure the combo was a brutal as the head. Man it sounds even hotter! I only have to run the gain on 5 on this amp. On the head I needed 6-6 1/2 to get this tone. I read the that the combos run a bit hotter though and higher gain is a result. The clean is better than on the head too. I read in the manual that "The combo boasts more versatility than the stack thanks to an enhanced, clean sound and circuitry that takes full advantage of the cabinet's sonic possibilities". That is directly from the manual. You can hear it in the clean tone too. Shared EQ or not this is a real clean tone. Man is this amp loud! I wasn't expecting what I found. I couldn't even turn the post (vol) knob on 1 without pissing everyone off. This is not a bedroom amp. I just got off the phone with Island Cases who are making me a custom Level 5, live in, ATA flight case with 3" casters, recessed latches, ball ends and 1 1/2 foam all around. This bitch is road ready!!!!! Sound Clip>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLR7_AkEdb8 Just a little riff I threw together.

Image

Image

My Settings. They havn't changed since the head version I had except for lower gain, due to a hotter amp. Man this thing is so easy to set up for killer tone.

as you all may know(or not...) i ordered the vendetta xm so its the bottom of the line type thing. it was only $100 from the musicians friend catalog. how do you think it would sound and look with invader pickups in the neck and bridge. also how would it look with black dunlop strap-loks, ernie ball extra slinkies, and grover 102(3-per-side) tuning keys in chrome? do you think it would look cool/sound killer. i have the black vendetta so you know. im just wonderin what you thought(mostly about the invaders in neck and bridge).

HELP!! No case for my new Dean Jumbo 12 String Acoustic???
by big.dano on Fri Aug 01, 2008 10:56 pm
Hey everybody... I just bought a new Dean 12 String Jumbo Acoustic from Guitar Center and they had no cases that fit it... I contacted Dean customer service, but they said a case should have been with it, however, this information was wrong because no case comes with the guitar. Both Guitar Center has verified this and another independent retailer who offers the same guitar that I bought. The model is a JC QM 12 TGE.

Any ideas?

Dan
Need help finding a case...
by SkinnyMan on Fri Aug 01, 2008 11:00 pm
Since I'm buying a Used Dean from Hell very soon... it is coming without a case, so I'm going to need help finding a case for it.

Ok so here are what I need...

1. Soft or Hard Case doesn't matter.
2. Needs to fit an ML (Hard cases are 48")
3. Needs to be 80 or under... (to be realistic on the matter) But I would love it if it was under $50.

Thanks guys! I already checked eBay and guitarcenter.com and the lowest I found for an ML case was $70, but I wanted to find something lower.

Screw eBay
by nytan on Sat Aug 02, 2008 1:33 am
I just got raped...AGAIN in seller's fees. Is there any way to end this madness?

A guy a while back tried selling the amazing "Seller's Stick." The magic stick that's been shoved up each eBay seller's ass. It went up to a solid $200 before those dipshits took the listing down.

I know it's a wise business, but there's gotta be some way to hit them where it hurts. Most guitarists on this forum have dealt in some way with this misfortune, and I am downright going insane.

8.75%??? That's more than fucking NYC taxes.

ok line 6 gear box gold gurus
by BLOODROOT on Sat Aug 02, 2008 3:15 am
I got Gearbox today. Blasphemy. I love it so far. You can make some really sick sounds on it. They are about 90% of the real amps. But all in all fun to jam on without turning on my amp. The tons are just missing the real push and pull of a tube amp. Kinda sterile, but real fun.

I got it plugged in through the usb. I can only get sound through plugging headphones into the gearbox dongle.

How do you get the sounds to come out of your speakers? Do I have to plug it all in and use the gearbox dongle as the sound card in order to do it.

Once I get it to work will it record in my recording software or do I have to download the plugin version for that? Which is a rip cause then you have to buy it again.

How do I get the Engl powerball and VH4 sounds? I bought gearbox gold and suppose to come with it but its not in the list. I tried to download them and it say you have to pay but I bought gold which is suppose to come with it.

any and all info will be appreciated.

oh btw I bought a new pc and 22 inch digital lcd too so no more caps. a dawn of a new day. I feel dirty typing without caps.

wow the models sound like icehole through speakers. they only sound good through headphones. hmmmmm it went from good to bad really fast.

by rridner on Sun Aug 03, 2008 3:33 am
I sold the Krank Rev JR to a friend and bought a Randall RH100. The Randall fits me and my tone better than the Krank did. I didn't dislike the Krank - it just didn't seem to fit. The Randall and this Mesa cab together sounds totally brutal. The head has two high-gain channels and even sounds good at lower levels - which is nice, since I live in an apartment. Even @ 3 - this thing is loud as hell! Oddly enough, the head has a headphone jack - which is weird, but cool for the apartment factor. Two great scores in two days. I should be cool on gear for a while (maybe) Cool

Deans on new guitar hero a possibility?
by * on Sun Aug 03, 2008 7:28 am
so, a new guitar hero game is coming out and since the whole gibson lawsuit thing against activision....they've got something new.

instead of just gibson guitars. there's actually going to be a guitar creator mode.

Image

you see where i'm going with this, right?

maybe not a part of the initial game, but perhaps in downloadable content to expand the game...how cool would it be if dean let them use their shapes? you could build a custom ML to match the one you have in real life, or the one you've always dreamed of owning.

i have a feeling this game is going to sell like hotcakes, and all the extra exposure certainly couldn't hurt, right?

and what about the ML shaped controller? even if it's through a 3rd party controller company like pelican, that would be SWEET.

i think dean could step in and get some exposure with this game. fender won't be able to since they're already tied to the rock band series. Gibsons loss could be Dean's gain.

Redoing my ML (pictures)
by deansman90 on Sun Aug 03, 2008 8:55 am
I stripped the paint off yesterday and I got on the body work today. I'm doing just the single humbucker in it, so I don't need the switch, volume and tone for the rhythm pickup. I did a slapstick job of covering the switch/tone/volume holes by just putting a square piece of plywood over each. I filled the rhythm cavity with a 3 inch 1 x 2 piece of wood with the edges rounded to fit. I wasn't able to completely fill the cavity... but that is what wood filler or bondo is for, which I did next. There is a medium size chip taken out of the body on the top left that I could not fix at all.

I don't know why I worked around the bridge pickup this whole time.. but whatever lol. I sanded down the filler just an hour ago and it didn't completely fill the switch hole and a bit of the pickup cavity. So tomorrow I will get on that and it should be finished by mid day. Hopefully maybe get some primer on it.

Still don't know what color I should paint it again. Any suggestion would be cool for the color or anything else I can do to it.

This is my very first extensive project if you would call it, to a guitar ever so... ya... don't rape my ass if you see something wrong or just don't like it at all.

Pictures for all to see!

Threaded neck inserts?
by what-a-cool-username on Sun Aug 03, 2008 3:32 pm
Right so, I'm sending off my 70's strat to my local luthier in a few days to fix the neckholes - and a few of you on the Tech section told me that the best way to fix it would be to fiull in the holes with liquid wood and redrill, but I was thinking - would it be worthwhile to get the threaded neck inserts put in at an extra cost? I've heard great things about them increasing sustain and being better than just a screw to wood neck.

Do we have an Steam users here? Because I need a little help.
Whenever I try to start steam up, this is what pops up.

Image

It wasnt working before that notice started coming up too. It said that it couldnt connect to the steam servers because steam thought my internet was down. I could connect to my account through the steam website (and i still can), but still, it still said it couldnt connect. So what I did was I went into offline mode to see what I could try and then I exited out of it. So I turn Steam back on and that notice appears.

I play alot of Counter Strike so I hope i can get this running again soon.
If anyone could help me, that would be very very appreciated.

Going back to my first love......
by Lon on Mon Aug 04, 2008 12:50 am
I've owned many many guitars over the years, about 15 of them Deans. But I'm not talking about guitars, I'm talking about cycling. Mountain biking to be precise. I got into guitars about 7 years ago because I had damaged my knees on a 67 mile charity ride for Pediatric Asthma and thought after a couple of months that the damage was permanent. After all these years later the bug has been biting and I can't ignore it any longer. I've had a decent bike for a couple of years but the frame's a tad too small and my wife and I haven't done anything but paved trail riding. I'm going to be 46 in 9 days and she wants me around longer since she's only 29. She's hot but comes from a culture that worships skinny people so we've been on Weight Watchers for a month or so and are getting results. She's been walking about 3 miles a day and I mentioned that I'd love to have a new bike to get more serious about biking again. She has always seen my guitar playing as a big waste of time (again cultural, no offense meant to you all) but really is behind my new biking move. We went looking yesterday and I was looking at bikes around $200-250 and feeling guilty about that since there's hardly any single track or even unpaved trails around here. So anyway I find a couple of quite decent ones, one for $250 and one for $350. I tell her I prefer the $350 one and expect here to balk but she ways "look at this one over here, it's cool looking". I say yeah, it costs $800 it better look cool. She tells me to get it off the rack and try it out. I do and of course it's love at first ride. I used to build my own bikes from parts much like my guitars since I couldn't afford expensive off the rack bikes. As soon as her bonus arrives (any day now) ........it's mine!!!!!!!!!! Trek 6000 Disc. I am stoked to say the least! I love this woman!!!

Soundproofing (I know it's been discussed before)
by MasterplayerC on Mon Aug 04, 2008 7:34 am
But I don't remember how long ago it was.

I'm moving back to school in a couple weeks, 6 person suite (3 double rooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and a common living room).

I already know we're going to be loud, whether it be loud voices, loud movies, loud video games, loud music, or the fact that its 3 guitarists, a bassist, a drummer, and a singer.

I want to sound proof as much as possible for as cheap as possible, and I'm wondering if its worth it for me to drill a couple holes in the walls of atleast the common room or something for easy hanging up some thick carpet or insulation or something to try and keep the sound from bouncing off solid walls.

I know true sound proofing is expensive, and I'm not looking for a permanent job, just something that we can roll up in the corner and hook up whenever we get loud.

Suggestions?
nevermind I'm just a noob

Hey guys, I need some help. My PC is on it's death bed so I'm looking at getting a laptop. I found a great deal on a Sony VAIO VGN-NR330E/S for $500 but it's vista. hey guys, i had played a show in the smallest venue ever. no stage just a peice of ducktape accross the floor; but i like it alot. any way there was no room for every one to use there own amps. so we all had to use the headlinering guitarist amps. and i absolutly fell in love with his. i don't have a pic of me with the amps or with the headliner with the amp. but i do have one with another guitar player with the amps. but can you guys tell me like the exact head and cabs?

411 - Dean Custom Shop called
by Anonymous on Mon Aug 04, 2008 11:08 pm
my dealer about my Korina Split Tail confirming the options on my guitar. I have to say the contact between us (all 3 parties) has been excellent so far, I hope it continues throughout the build. Maybe I'll get a picture and call when it heads out for paint! I can't wait to see the bound HS in 5-ply...

Anyway the call was regarding the kill switch I wanted -I was offered some cool options. '-) I also took the opportunity to reiterate the color I wanted, and got to thinking about past issues and how I could help clarify what I wanted.

How does a custom shop turn-out my dream color? Facts: All monitors display color differently. Unless I pick a pantone color, send an actual sample, or choose a color from Dean's inventory there's always a GOOD chance it WON'T match. Exactly that is. Fortunately for me, this is not a figured top, it's a simple burst on a lame-top. I have had enough experience with Dean Guitars to know they don't makes shiste. They just don't - every Dean Guitar I have ordered has been beautiful. (EXCEPT the AMBER Korina ML!!!!) So I am not too worried aboot this one...

So here is what I sent to Dean Guitars, I hope it's enough!!!

I sent an image from RockyB (Thank you!)
I sent this... which was TOO CLOSE TO AMBER! (I am sour, and won't ever buy an amber Dean.)
Then after looking at the Dark Cherryburst I fell in love with from DOA I then sent them this today: Orange burst. Hopefully they will use their standard orange as the outside color - it's AWESOME!

Furman gets an A+
by Lanning is Killdozer on Tue Aug 05, 2008 12:45 am
So I went to GC last month to pick up a new pedalboard. God they are expensive. I can just make one for an 8th of what they cost, but I wanted to get one of them new-fangled good ones with a good power supply. I really liked the Furman SPB-8c but it was $350.00. WOW that is a lot of scratch. I was gonna settle on a Gator which are good. Then my friend there showed me a broken one on clearance and she said that I could take it for $115. It was the $350 SPB-8C but the lid had a broken handle. Everything else was perfect and it had all the attachments. The handle legs (it's retractable) were stuck in the open position. I figured, what the hell. I can just saw that bitch off and carry it by the other handle on the side of the lid. LOL So she got the manager to approve the deal in which GC lost out because it was selling for $75 under cost. So I get home and immediately call Furman. I explain that my SPB-8C has a broken handle and I wanted to buy a new lid. I figured the price to replace the lid will still bring me WELL under what a new SPB-8C would have cost. The guy asked me to send him a photo of the damage, which I did right away. He responded that he could send me a new lid free of charge! I was really happy at that point. All I had to do was wait 3 weeks for the damage claim to go through and he would ship me a new lid. He said that damage has happened a few times and that is covered by their warranty. So I come home today to find a large box from Furman in my living room? Huh why such a big box. The dude shipped me a brand new pedalboard. NOT A LID, AN ENTIRE NEW BOARD, SEALED NEW IN BOX WITH ALL THE ATTACHMENTS!!! Now that is customer service!!!!! He doesn't even want the old one back. Well, why would he? But still. Furman get the gold award for sure. So lets recap. I buy a broken $350 pedalboard on clearance for $115. I call Furman to ask for a replacement part and get a brand new board for free. This has been a good day! Wink

ESP LTD MH-250 NT

My first neck thru, bound, coil tap guitar. It plays and looks amazing, it's lightweight and very fast. It's my best and new favorite guitar, the stock pickups sound surprisingly amazing, I won't need to change them any time soon. It could easily cost double what I payed.

specs:

Construction: neck-thru-body
Scale: 25-1/2
Body: agathis with quilted maple top
Neck/Fretboard: 3-piece maple/rosewood
Inlays: offset blocks with name at 12th fret
Pickups: ESP LH-301 (bridge/neck)
Electronics: volume, tone (push-pull coil tap), 3-way slotted toggle
Hardware: black nickel
Bridge: tune-o-matic with string-thru-body
Binding: natural (body), white (neck, headstock)
Frets: 24 XJ

Here is some Pron for you (Sorry for the crappy quality, I'm not home, so all I have is my phone, I'll put up better ones when I get back home.):

I'll take that, and here's what I shall do to it:

Hardware: GFS Black hardware
Finish: Spraypaint white and black bevels/sides/back
Pickups: GFS Power Rails
I'll replace the volume pot with a DiMarzio 500K audio taper pot, remove the tone pot and replace the nut.

It's basically going to be one of those budget mod guitars.

Opinions on GFS hardware would be appreciated! Smile

So I been watching Wife Swap USA for the past 4 or 5 weeks, and some of the people they have are mental! There have been families that think they're pirates and do everything like pirates, families who think they live in the dark ages and spend all day playing fantasy role playing games while calling each other names like Gwendolyn and Yockenthwaite.

Now, I know that those families are picked especially to make tv viewers lol, and that it certainly does not represent the American people as a whole but I was just wondering, do any of you guys have neighbours as/ more nutty than those people?

Then I'm gonna be using the EMG 81s out of that and putting them in my ML Noir which will up the resale value and give it better tone seeing as how the X2N in it right now isn't taking too kindly to the basswood. I'll be selling the Noir to fund my next guitar. And it WILL come with a Dean Hard Shell case. So theres something to think about if anyone wants a cheap MLF with good pups in it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/GIBSON-SG-ELECTRIC-GUITAR-W-GIBSON-CASE_W0QQitemZ170247611936QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item170247611936&_trkparms=72%3A1073%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14.l1318

so i tried to learn more about it with a little info on gibson's site regarding the serial number. and it says there that they have been doing the little made in usa thing where they like brand it (for lack of a better term) into the headstock. but this one has the prited flag that says made in usa. does that meen its a imatation? from what i know about telling gibbys from the fakes it checks out to me good except for that flag. the truss rod cover only has two skrews not three. and the serial number is where it should be. but i don't know much more about it. can anyone tell me if this IS a gibby, and what year it is. i can't seem to get much info on it. but this is the first time i've ever tried to find out about the guitar via serial number. help is much appreciated.

Now to take my Krank head down to the Krank factory (10 mins away) and have them install an effects loop on my clean channel and make the stock one for the distortion channel, since this rack is stereo, or make seperate ones for the clean and dist channels and the stock one with the selectable boost circuit a master effects loop after the other two in case I want to run a silencer.

Dark Terror
by Berserker829 on Thu Aug 07, 2008 5:32 am
Someone help me, at this point I'm willing to give my phone number out to someone who can help me. MY Dark knight seems to have cursed me and my guitar collection as a whole. All my electronics are starting to fail out of no where, and no matter how many pots I can't get this guitar to work. I switched my solder to some no clean up solder from guitar electronics and it works great and I literally let a liquid solder fall on the wires and it forms a perfect joint (no oklahormoan not the smokable kind) and stays shiny unlike my other so called electronics grade solder. I managed to get it to work through the bridge pickup but I did not waste almost $100 on a Pearly Gates in my neck to not use it! Nothing I can do seems to get it to work and I'm using new pots, caps, new wires for my new toggle switch and I've only seen slight results. I'm also getting alot of buzz when its not in use. Some one help me I've never had the problems I have been having lately with these guitars though I think it may just be my soldering station, but it can't be because the temperatures match up to when I see solder melting.
amp heads and headphones?
by * on Thu Aug 07, 2008 9:03 am
sorry guys this is a super noob question, but i'm not so good with the technical parts of gear setup.

i was wondering if there is any way to listen to a big amp head through headphones, aside from running the line through a mixer.

It has 2 outputs for cabinets ( i know that's not an option), and a 1/4" "DI".

could i use the DI for headphones, or not?

What to do when GAS attacks strike?

I'm paying off debts and saving for a house down payment currently, but can't help the gas attacks I get. I seem to be able to justify buying these more and more Laughing .

Finish ideas for U.S. Soltero???
by Jag Panzer on Thu Aug 07, 2008 4:26 pm
YES!!!!

It looks like I'll be able to pick the finish / hardware for my next U.S. Soltero.

Dean gives me a great deal as part of my endorsement, but I typically get what they have in stock in Tampa. There are some bodies ready for paint so it appears I can get one of those.

So I'm seeking ideas!! HELP!!!

Here is what I'm not interested in --- stock colors (cherryburst, braziliaburst, amber, black, white).

As cool as Chucks, Waynes and Killer Woolfs Solteros are, I have no interest in having one look like someone elses Soltero.

I purchased a Dean VMNTX almost a year ago and it's been struggling with fret buzz for almost every other month I've owned it. I've taken it to repairmen, looked at other topics, replaced and fixed everything I know of and yet it still buzz's like a bee. I don't know what to do to fix it, can someone here direct me to a solution? please? I love my guitar, it's the best and I'd really like to be able to fix it so I can play it without hearing that annoying buzz.

Rocking out with my naughty bits out
by Jimmy King on Thu Aug 07, 2008 8:19 pm
No, no pictures of me naked with a guitar as you may have feared, given the the popularity of that sort of thing around here.

I just made a few recordings of my playing over the last couple of days and figured I'd post them here to get some comments. They are a bit muddy sounding, I believe due to a bad recording setup. The mic is just laying on the floor in front of the amp. I was able to clear it up some by raising the mic off the floor, but I only had a large popcorn tin available to do so, which just caused other sound issues.

These were all done with an ML X, Roland Cube 20X, and the microphone that comes with Rock Band.

Go easy on me, I've only been playing ~6 months.

http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?songs=688448&T=5798

edit:
apparently acidplanet is being a pain for some people, so here are some direct links to mp3s on my server, too.

http://www.bash-shell.net/~justin/recording/the%20ripper%20solo.mp3
http://www.bash-shell.net/~justin/recording/back%20in%20black.mp3

btw, everyone seems to be listening to riff2 and not riff1 on acidplanet - I assume because riff2 is on top and it's not terribly good. riff1 is definitely better, imo, riff2 was something that was more or less coming to me as I recorded it, so there's some work to be done still.

do you have a problem with him using your head?"

me---"screw that,kerry king sucks ass!!"

dead silence

me-"dude,i was kidding. of course he can borrow it,IF he signs it."

the gc guy says "ok,i'm gonna call them back now and let them know. it IS cool with you, right?"

me-"yeah,but i want it back signed."

now,if you guys knew what i am paying for the head, you would die laughing. it was mismarked(scrapnasty was there when i put the down payment on it). now to have had him play on it,and sign it too? a slayer fans dream come true.

from what i gather, there is supposed to be some kinda tribute jam at ozzfest on saturday. wonder if zakk will be on the same stage, blowin' out some dime-jams?

just got back from the Metal Masters show
by New Found Power on Fri Aug 08, 2008 5:18 am
HOLY CRAP. It was amazing.
Testament was first up, their time slot was a bit too short but killer nonetheless, Their Setlist was
Over The Wall
The New Order
Practice What You Preach
Souls of Black
More Than Meets the Eye
The Formation of Damnation
Killer set. Even though Greg Christians bass crapped out in the beginning of Souls of Black.
I love Testament, but like I said, too short a time slot. They didn't get to play Into the Pit.

Next up was Motorhead. Loud as s#%t. I don't remember their setlist, but it was also super sweet. Seeing them play The Ace of Spades live was amazing. They closed with Overkill, so yeah. Pretty sweet.

Next in the lineup we have Heaven and Hell. Their set was kinda slow and sludgy but seeing them was quite an experience. Especially since Tony Iommi is an amazing influence of mine. Dio was damn good too. Sounded great througout the set.

And finally, we get to Judas Priest. AMAZING live show. They played a lot of the greats. Highlights of their set included Nostradamus, Hellbent for Leather, The Green Manalisi (with the Two-Pronged Crown), and best of all Painkiller. Seeing that one live was so amazing I can barely put it into words. Halford was so on point tonight. It was amazing. He really put in his all tonight. Painkiller sounded amazing.

All in all well worth the price of admission. All $71 of it. I will have all of my pics uploaded tomorrow. Now I have to go to bed. Laughing

Question with this SG
by dyingbreed89 on Fri Aug 08, 2008 7:00 am
I realized, this is the Dean forum and not the Gibson forum, but I figured some of you guys might be able to fill me in on this.

So I found this really beat up SG which the seller claims is a Gibson from the 70's. Problem is, on the headstock, where it's suppose to say Gibson, has been burned or something, and can't see the "Gibson" there. Other things of the guitar has also been modified and looks really jacked up.
Here's a link to that auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/gibson-sg-circa-early-1970-s_W0QQitemZ250278692269QQihZ015QQcategoryZ118985QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Anyone have any idea what model that would be if that was actually a gibson? I found a picture of an SG that's similar to that one on google.

G a bit higher
B a bit lower

Hey Guys!

Been a while since I posted here, been super busy and generally not thinking about the forums and such, anyhow I've been working on a new rig and trying to setup my ultimate monster tone setup and I've come really really close so far with NO tweaking, The rack is not wired yet, and there are still a few more pieces on the way, like a pedal shelf and some other stuff but otherwise it's sounding huge
here is a intro pic, when it's fully done I'll post more and clips

Image

I plan on using the new Fractal Audio MFC-101 foot controller with the Axe FX unit to control everything and it should all work out perfectly!

The Rivera sounds HUGE and I need to get a few new cabinets.
I'll be ordering 2 Vader 4x12's for now, and then 2 more after the second Rivera gets here! then the practice spot will be frackin ready to rock!

Cheers!

So, my finacé Andrea has been working on a new music video with some chick named Jamie Jones. I dunno she is one of those artists that Myspace signed to their label. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=67563721 So, Andrea, who is in tour management, film stuff and a whole bunch of other industry stuff has been in DC all week as part of the crew for the shoot. So she called me and said they were about 3 hours away from wrapping up and if I wanted to come to the shoot I could splurge on the catering and hang out for a bit and then we would go to dinner. So I show up in my best cutoff desert camo shorts, Dock Martens and my favorite Every Time I Die shirt. LOL I look totally out of place for an R&B vid shoot, but I don't give a "F" because I am me. Man was I out of place. The 4 cameramen were totally cool. Some guys from Pittsburgh. The director and the line producer were also cool as hell. They were from LA, but I felt odd around every one else. It felt like they were re-shooting Boyz In The Hood. LOL Well apparently one of the PA's had to leave early and since I was standing around they asked if I wanted to help out. I was cool about it because I could just add it to my CV. So I did some general light duties. Nothing big. At the end, the last shot was of this chick leaving the nightclub and walking down a red carpet with her security and getting in a limo. They had rented out a club called Zanzabar in the DC harbor for the last shot of the vid. So I am standing around at this point. I keep noticing that Jamie is staring at me every time I am not looking. This was going on all afternoon. Kind of awkward. So all of a sudden her assistant yells my name and asks me to get in to the last shot. WTF man? I look more like a stalker than a fan LOL If this was an All That Remains show I would have fit right in, but I'm all tatt'd out and by the way I was dressed, I don't belong in an R&B vid, unless it's a story about her having a stalker and I was playing that part LOL So I signed a release and as I am walking up the director looks at me and says "Dude don't worry I will make sure to get your "ink" in the shot. Laughing Laughing Laughing I'm like, whatever man it's her dime. So after all the shooting was done I go inside the club with Andrea, to scavange the rest of the catering lol. Then I go sit down. I look to my right and the producer is being filmed for an MTV, behind the making of the video interview. Jamie (the singer) comes and sits down in the chair next to me. I look over, she gives me a bashful smile under her bangs. LOL I look to my right, Andrea is grinding her teeth like she wants to throw a chair at her. So I just look ahead only to find that damn camera crew in my face asking me about my part in the video. WTF again? I just came for the free food and to pick up Andrea. So I let loose some lame crap. I said I was a production assistant and got a short spot in the video. LOL Blah Blah Blah. So now when her new single releases, I heard it was sometime before January, you may get a chance to see some funny crap.. God, why didn't I have my PJ's in my truck? I need to keep them with me all the time. That would have been perfect. Me walking around with my Underdog PJ's.... Razz Laughing So now I am expecting to get an e-mail from this chick... I'll feel bad letting the young lass down. I'll do it lightly though.

6505 Combo Tip from Peavey
by Lanning is Killdozer on Sat Aug 09, 2008 1:49 am
"Want to reduce the wattage of your 6505 or 5150 combo? Simply unplug the speaker and plug it into the extension cabinet jack. This will cut the the wattage in half as the extension cabinet output only runs at 30 watts."

This was taken from an interview with a Peavey tech that I found. Interesting stuff there. For recording in the studio this is very useful.

hey dudes, weird question here.

as you may have noticed, it seems just about every lefty here (or atleast half of us or better) have the Lefty Dean FBD, including myself.

however, i don't think a single one of us on here has the lefty explosion razorback. is the dean forum a big enough cross section of players to kind of determine how well a product is doing, or at least, how it's doing compared to other models?

the reason i ask is, I love the razorback shape, but just hated that finish. I want there to be future lefty imports, so i really want this one to sell well. is the fact that none of the lefty boardies here seem to own one a bad sign, or is it just because the product hasn't been out very long? i'd appreciate anyone's insite on this.
Bands that you don't think ought to be here...
by SkinnyMan on Sat Aug 09, 2008 3:20 am
Well, you don't see this a lot, but in our schools, there are wars of: pop vs. rap vs. rock...

Basically, pop is represented my the Jonas Brothers, and their fangirls, rap, represented by Soulja Boy, and those ghetto craps, and rock is pretty much Pantera in my school (thanks to me!)

Now, I absolutely hate new rap, and the Jonas Brothers, not sure how you guys feel, but please explain your opinion, this is not meant to be a flaming thread, but more of an opinionated comment on the worst bands to date.

For me... The Jonas Brothers just have to go, they survive off of Disney and Marketing, but their music is horrible. And yet, they play Vox amps and Gibson guitars, with millions, maybe billions of fangirls, and yet they have the worst guitar tone I've ever heard, and the most unoriginal lyrics ever.

So thanks guys for looking, drop a comment. Cool
Dont know if you guys saw this.......

New family pics, two days old NGD! * NDC *
by Kride on Sat Aug 09, 2008 9:47 am
Finally some new family pics after the latest acquisition from Japan, Edwards LPC which arrived this week.
Outstanding guitar and fits very well in the lot of the other two excellent guitars. I fitted the Edwards LPC with calibrated BKP Nailbomb set as well. My fav pickups no contest.

The Edwards WILL get new knobs soon (gold domes) as well pup rings 'cos the neck one is broken. And no, I'm not blacking this out.

Some clips of the guitars can be found at www.soundclick.com/kride
some are bad clips, some are very bad clips :p

At the bottom of this post there's some thickness measurements/pics as well...

Copyrighting music
by goop on Sat Aug 09, 2008 1:49 pm
Can an instrumental piece ( like GL's Mr.Scary or YJM's Trilogy ) be copyrighted or music without lyrics ( basically what could be a song minus the lyrics/vocal melody)? The stuff I write is mostly rock/metal oriented. I don't know if that makes a difference. I've been having some band issues and I'm thinking of getting my own thing going. I have some stuff that I presented ( music only, no lyrics or vocals) but we have not worked on any of it. I just want to make sure if I move forward that I can play what I wrote, my stuff. I never wrote any vocal melodies or lyrics so I don't care about that.

But there are a few things I'd like to clear up, so I know what I'm buying...

1. What kind of trem is it? OFR or LFR?

2. C or V Neck?

3. What are the names of the Pickups?

4. How many frets?

5. What kind of tuners does it have?

Thanks guys! I really appreciate it. Smile Sorry for being a post whore Sad In return, I shall post delicious pron when it arrives! Smile

I got my new guitar (NDC)
by cerebrix1 on Sun Aug 10, 2008 6:47 am
Well,

heres the story...........

For about a year, every few months I'd go down to my local Carvin dealer to ask about a guitar thats in the muesum pages to find out if they could make me one like it. Every time they'd ask they'd tell me they couldn't for whatever reason.

So after talking with my buddy Doug Steele about my problems with korean imports and the bad luck I have had in the past, Doug talks me into a 7 string. Or at the very least, to try one out.

So I went down to the Carvin store again in Santa Ana, had Oscar show me some. I surprisingly dug it. But one in particular had a tone that just jumped out at me. I took my little Vox AD30vt-xl combo with me to play stuff thru MY amp. I was in love, I just didn't dig the purple quilt combo on the one in the store.

But we were getting somewhere, I found a love for koa. Koa body with a koa neck and maple stripes.

So I was settled. I was finally gonna take the plunge and buy a USA made guitar. So I went home, put my imports on ebay to get some deposit money. Sold my guitars, now it was time to go back down to the store to play one more time just to be sure, amp in hand.

Yep, this guitar was ME. For the first time I found a fiddle that just leaped out at me tonally. It felt like an extension of me. No wierdness, the DC727 was MY GUITAR.

So I told Oscar, lets do this.

We walk over to the register, start talking about options, colors, getting a quote together.

Then it hit me. I'm not gonna spend this kinda money without making them tell me no ONE LAST TIME for that finish I had been dreaming about since the day I first saw it.

So Oscar looks at me and says "You know what theyre gonna say". But I tell him that I needed to hear no at least one more time. He tells me to go home, he's gonna call Mark Kiesel and find out from the man himself, the lead designer, if it can or can't be done once and for all.

I get a call a few days later from Oscar.

"Dude... He said yes...."

So I bailed out of the house, hopped in the car, and bolted down to the Carvin store. It's deposit time.

11 weeks later, Oscar calls me back, tells me it's pickup time.

Well folks. Here she is. The best looking and playing guitar I've ever seen or held in my life.

Carvin DC727
Koa body neck thru with 5 piece neck. 2 maple stripes
Tung oil finish on back of neck
Active pickups with coil split and phase switch
Ebony fingerboard
Abalone inlays
Schaller locking tuners
Dunlop Strap Locks
Original Floyd Rose

Ill let the pics do the rest of the talking. I'll try to get some outside pics monday or tuesday.

Does Dean do 'black stain under color' trans finishes?
by Jag Panzer on Sun Aug 10, 2008 4:43 pm
I once talked to a paint guy at a bass company that said that black stain applied, then lightly sanded, is the key to their fantastic trans finishes.

The U.S. Masters site has a nice chart showing the differences between normal trans finishes and black stained trans finishes. They call theirs 'Enhanced Transparent Finishes'.

http://www.usmasters.com/finishes.htm

My question is - Does Dean do the black stain finishes? I *think* they do, but I'm not certain. I've seen a red V that has the black stain look.

Can anyone verify that Dean does this black stain look?

Thanks

NDC 12lbs of pure maple and walnut tone
by Northwinds on Sun Aug 10, 2008 11:10 pm
Ok, I promised to post some better images but for some reason, my camera is a bit out of focus for these Rolling Eyes

Anyway, this is the latest acquisition picked up 2 weeks ago. 1980 e/2 Explorer weighing in at a hair under 12lbs, she's a neck breaker but the sound that comes out of this is incredible. Body and neck are maple and walnut sandwiched. This is the heaviest model made of the various styles available from 1979 through 1983

The fretboard is ebony, the nut is brass and the action is so low that playability is effortless. The TP-6 fine tuner stop tail is one of the best made

Only thing I will be doing to this gem is getting a set of original Dirty Fingers pups and possibly a gold roller bridge if I don't end up getting a NOS gold Gibby tune o matic

Current pups are early X2N and Super Distortion Dimarzio's

When new, these e/2's cost more then Les Paul Standards and worth every penny Wink

Isaac Hayes
by VanillaIceCream on Mon Aug 11, 2008 12:08 am
From CNN:

Soul singer and arranger Isaac Hayes, who won Grammy awards and an Oscar for the theme from the 1971 action film "Shaft," has died, sheriff's officials in Memphis, Tennessee, reported Sunday.

Relatives found Hayes, 65, unconscious in his home next to a still-running treadmill, said Steve Shular, a spokesman for the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.

Paramedics attempted to revive him and took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 2 p.m., the sheriff's department said.

No foul play is suspected, the agency said in a written statement.

NDC - Look what someone left by the Clothes Drop Bin
by transblueZ on Mon Aug 11, 2008 1:07 am
The wife and I were going food shopping this morning, and when pulling into the parking lot the wife sees a couple guitars (among other junk - couch, vacuum, other disposable furniture) that was dumped outside one of those Clothing for the Needy folks bins. She asked if "I wanted to go check them out?" I said after we got done shopping, to which she replied..."They'll be gone before then."
Ok, I figured someone dumped their trash here, it's not clothing, but just a pile of junk they didn't want to pay to bring to the dump. So I figured ok. Driving over to them I could see they were both set neck - a guitar and a bass. She ever got out and put them in the trunk for me.

The bass (3 string....woooo...hahaha) plays great and everything works. The pots are a little scratchy. It's a DeArmond by Guild Jet Star bass. It is pretty nice, and plays better than my beater Ibanez bass. It has some trauma by the input jack, and normal scratches and bruises. But, over all a decent instrument. Can't beat the price.

The other is a set neck LTD EC300. It's pretty mashed, with damage where the pots are, and the input jack. There are some cracks in the finish on the back of the headstock. Nothing through to the wood though. And quite a few scratches and chips. No biggie. Going to grab some stuff from GFS and make this a beater to sit on a guitar stand and not worry about getting messed up.

Please keep this constructive. I know a lot of people don't like the Krankenstein, so if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything.

But I would appreciate any constructive advice anyone has.

I know BLOYD mentioned this a bit ago but nobody really discussed it and I thought this deserved its own thread.

For those of you that don't know, Sammy Hagar has a new band. "Chickenfoot"

Sammy Hagar
Michael Anthony
Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Joe Satrianni

He's been quoted as saying "its as good as zeppelin"

God I hope hes not kidding. Every "rock supergroup" thus far has really missed out. with a couple of noted exceptions imho (army of anyone and audioslave)

One thing's for sure. Satch has WAY MORE chops than eddie does in 2008.

Chad on drums should be unreal though, especially with Michael Anthony on bass. Thats one unreal rhythm section.

i was at my grandparents house today and my grandpa wasnt home then he showed up with a dean mlx that he bought me. Its a decent guitar for what he payed for it. the playability is good and doesnt sound to bad, but i will probably switch the pups out further down the road. i thought i would just share this with you, this is my first dean and i love it.
Hey.

Obviously the guitar would never actually be made but hey we can all dream. Cool

Reading Music

Can any one recomend a free online site that shows you how to read music. I need to know because I want to go to a music school and I have the talent but one of the requirements is that their student need to know how to read music.

P.S. Can some one also tell me why I need a time signature. I know it tells you how many note per measure, but why do I need to know that.

my computer is phucked and it is getting fixed next week I am at my friends house so that is the only way I am posting right now. and just some random updates on me I went over to Caney, KS to my choice dealer and am now considering a michael kelly patriot custom in see thru walnut. I played it thru a peavey valveking 2x12 and the rockfields can do it all man its beautiful in the walnut finish. the ebony board is really nice, and the neck is wonderful it is the best sounding and playing guitar I have played for under 600 bones. and to anyone considering a mk freakin' go for it even their 300 dollar geets are awesome.

also thanks to anyone who reads this I will be back in the time frame of a month or two.
Should I get BC RICH Jr V Deluxe without playing it.

I want to be able to shred and but also do some serious riffing (mouth for war, master of puppets). I also want to be able to do some clean stuff and make it sound really nice and full because on my strat copy it sounds kinda hollow and to bright. And i cant go and play both of them because the closest place that actually stocks that my parents would drive me to deans to me is guitar center which is 45 minutes away and they only sell dime and x series guitars.(sorry for run-on sentence)

I'm going to start gigging on the 24th and my gigging amp doesn't have a built-in tuner. I'm not sure where to start with a tuner. There's the stompbox style ones and the rackmount ones. What are your guy's opinions on any? Any recommendations?

Mayhem fest lineup question, help quickly please
by RenegadeDave on Tue Aug 12, 2008 12:28 pm
So I'm going to Mayhem fest today with my girlfriend. I really want to see Mastodon and Dragonforce (i'm amused by their stage show Razz), the girlfriend really wants to see Disturbed and Slipknot. I'm sure that those guys go on last but I certainly want to get there early enough to catch DF and Mastodon (as well as Five Finger Death Punch, I want to see what all the hype is about).

I know some folks have gone to this tour in other cities, so my question is what time did your concert start and what time did the headliners start to go on? Also, what time did it end at?

Thanks in advance.

I need some advice
by Rock God666 on Tue Aug 12, 2008 3:52 pm
Well basically the dean razorback is like the guitar ive wanted for ages but i thought i couldnt afford so i was gonna go for a Jackson DKMG which i tried out and loved it but when the price of shipping, the extra colour, and case where added up it was only £100 short of what alot of shops are selling the razorback for.

Anyway im taking a music course at college next year, and its a double A-level so 2 out of my 4 subject will be music. Very Happy So i will be using the guitar alot, what i need your help with is this.

Do you think the guitar is practical for music class?
Is their a guitar you think would be better for music class, plus is a good guitar for metal?
Is it durable? ie. does it get chipped and scratched easily.
Is it hard to play? (I have played one, but it was ages ago)

Your opinion and help would be appreciated.

Thanks Guys. Smile

Quality Guitar Test
by Robotoid on Tue Aug 12, 2008 9:36 pm
Here's my test for a "quality" instrument...

1. Plug your guitar into an electronic tuner and tune it perfectly while holding it in the playing position.

2. Now, lay the body of the guitar flat on your lap with the strings up and nothing touching the neck. Pluck each string and see if they're still in perfect tune...perhaps they're a little sharp?

3. The big test....hold the guitar by the bodywith the strings facing the floor and the back of the guitar or bass toward the ceiling, again with nothing touching the neck. Pluck each string...If they're all now a tad flat flat, well, you've got a guitar with a flexible neck. (like most of mine)

I noticed most non-import guitars don't do this...all of mine do. Anybody notice this?

Hey everyone,

I was thinking of trying some new strings for the purpose of trying some alternate tunings (C, C#) since I rarely stray from standard, so I picked up a set of Dunlop KFK's and was wondering if anyone else had tried them out yet... If you have, what combination of strings did you go with?

I was thinking about throwing them on my Angel of Deth tonight for something new and was just curious if anyone else used them.

Line6 Spider III
by DRAGON REBORN on Wed Aug 13, 2008 10:23 pm
Ok, I REALLY have to bring this up because i hear pros and cons all the time about Line6 and i just wanna settle things out.
Ok.

I've read a lot of places saying how Line6 isn't good or yadda yadda yadda, and that they don't do great amps.

Well, for me, i love the Spider III, i usually get on that sucker every chance i get when i go into Guitar Center or whatever, besides the Peavey 6505s or JSX.

I just really wanna know why i see a lot of people perfer things over some of Line6's stuff.
I understand amps like Peavey's 6505 is great and everybody likes, because that amp is BUILT for one purpose, kickin ass.
But
The Line6 spider III has ALL of these options that you could get.
Like a jam thing when you just daily play in your room you know?

the Vid on their site http://www.line6.com/spideriii/movies.html
and some of the presets http://www.line6.com/spideriii/sounds01.html

I just wanted to see what people thought/said about this cause i just find it strange how i think this amp is really badass but other seem to think otherwise.
(which is fine, everyone has their own opinion and favorite taste you know? i know that, i'm just layin out the facts/opinions hear just wanting to hear this discussion)

Thank you Smile

To upgrade from an Epiphone 15 Watt, to a Line 6 Spider III 15 Watt?

I just talked to my dad (who was an electrician, not a musician) and he's arguing and telling me it's just sound, and it all sounds the same. (Grr, I strongly disagree with him)

So what are your guys take on it? I played the 15 Watt, and if dialed up right it sounds killer. Much better then my Epiphone amp IMO.

Thanks guys. Smile

Noise reduction
by Dooom on Thu Aug 14, 2008 6:23 pm
I use a boss metal zone to boost my amp (I have the amp on OD setting and I have the level at 10 and the distortion at 0 on the pedal). It has great tone, but there is a ton of excess noise and feedback. Would should I do to get rid of all the excess noise but keep my tone?
Marshall Micro Stack
by Miskimmin on Thu Aug 14, 2008 6:46 pm
So I went against my own philosophy about solid state Marshalls. I sold my old practice amp, a Randall RG230SC because I got sick of the muddy-ass distortion. Good chorus effect though. I digress....
I bought the MG15MSII, and I can't believe how good it sounds for what it is! It actually very closely sounds like a real tube Marshall(I do have one to compare it to Wink ). Maybe pairing it up to the separate cabs is what does it, and for only 15 watts, this little bugger booms! I can't sit next to it up past 2 - 3.
Just got it yesterday and I haven't run it through everything I play, but I'm satisfied so far. For cool looks, performance, overall I'm glad to have bought it. I do wish it had a footswitch for the channels, but that's the only gripe I have. What can I say, I'm lazy.
So go ahead and light the flames, ya won't sway me either way! Laughing

Ok, so I've got all the effects I regularly use; Wah, Distortion, Flange/Chorus. But right now I'm looking for something different and a bit "out there" just to experiment with.

Something that'll just be a fun toy to %$#@! about with now and again and make weird, neighbour annoying noises. Anyone got any ideas? The stranger the better.

The only real limit is my budget's about £100

Im beginning to wonder if he would rather ride that rather than play his guitar now that it looks like one of his favorite guitarists guitars. Razz Cool Smile

Favorite song from these three bands...
by SkinnyMan on Fri Aug 15, 2008 2:52 am
Ok, well I just thought I would post this, liven up the forum a little bit. Smile If you can't choose (like me) then post 2. But ONLY 2.

1. Pantera - For me, I'd say Drag the Waters or Death Rattles. I can't choose lol.

2. Metallica - Ride the Lightning or Dyers Eve. Both are awesome.

3. Megadeth - Hands down, Peace Sells. Cool

So choose your favorite songs from these three bands, or any three bands of your choice if you want to! THis might help people discover new music. Cool

The Freakin SUper-wubtabulous Dean Appreciation Thread
by Büdda on Fri Aug 15, 2008 4:03 pm
Thank you to Elliot for all his hard work in restoring the brand name and all the mojo that comes along with it. Not only have I found a guitar brand I love for many reason, but thanks to the forum, and the brotherhood Elliot has helped to create between us all, I have made some of the best friends ever and some really great contacts and have experienced some really great door opening opportunities right here on the forum.

It is easy for us all to complain about what we dont like or dont agree with, but I think we all oughta take a few minutes out of our lives to show some real appreciation for Elliot, and for all the people in Tampa that make it happen.

Elliot, I for one appreciate all you do- please keep it up. Cool

My hi-res Mayhem Festival pictures
by dmsdj5 on Fri Aug 15, 2008 7:30 pm
Thanks to Jim Root I had the opportunity to come hang out with the Slipknot guys again and take some pictures of this year's Mayhem Festival.....so I thought.

Well Slipknot's publicist (who keeps an eye like a hawk on the photographers) told me that I could ONLY take pictures of Slipknot during their performance or otherwise my entire camera rig would be confiscated. So I had to kind of sneak some pictures outside of their performance (backstage, Mastodon, and Dragonforce).

It was a great day, probably the most fun I've ever had at a concert. Lots of friends and smiles and vodka tonic's all day.

Party.
Here are Slipknot's photos.

I know there were tons of lighting issues from the photos used as reference. But this one should work. Has decent sun light and artificial light hitting it up.

And in case anyone is wondering, this guitar was a gift from Darrell to Scott.

The cover of Foxy Lady in the bonus features is fucking amazing!

They brought out the furry Gibbys for Legs, so no Deans that night.

His white Gretsch Billy-Bo sig was sooo cool. I want that guitar more than any other guitar in the entire world. Red and black pinstripes on gloss white with a matching headstock, gold hardware and a naked white fretboard. My God. I think I literally drooled when I saw it.

But seriously, any die-hard ZZ Top fan HAS to see this. So good.

Lefty Rebel Razorback Pron and Thoughts :)
by Redog75 on Sat Aug 16, 2008 1:42 pm
Well folks, it's been 16 months since I placed the order for my USA Custom left-handed Rebel Razorback and yesterday she finally arrived. I'd like to thank everyone at Funky Munky for their help in getting me this little beauty. This has been quite the ordeal. It was well worth the wait, but if anyone from Dean is reading this please heed my advice: communication is the most important part of service. A lack of communication (or reliable dates) is a killer in business. I cannot tell you how many times I heard, "it's almost done." The reality is the guitar was started late for, what I'm sure are, valid reasons. Just tell the customer. That's it, easy. As long as I know what's going on I don't worry. Compounding these delays -- delays happen, I don't fault anyone -- the guitar was done around two months ago, give or take. Having made the first few lefty Razorbacks someone at Dean overlooked the fact that lefty cases would be needed -- oops. Obviously I didn't want a cheap case, like the type the import Explosions have so I waited until the case was done...

The guitar arrived at Funky Munky on Tuesday. They set it up, as per my request, installed strap locks, and shipped it Wednesday. Great service. I thank them for that. This is what I was waiting for... More thoughts on the guitar after the pron!

The box arrived in great shape:

Even on the surface, the case looks great!

Sorry for the lack of detail on the pics...wow, they really don't do the paintjob justice! A-may-Zing!

This guitar actually managed to exceed my expectations. It was worth the wait, the price, and the little annoyances that cropped up on the way to get her here.

This marks my sixth guitar and my second Dean. The Razorback plays amazingly fast. The v-neck is a dream, the balance is stunning, and I really dig the Floyd (over the licensed version on my FBD). The guitar is incredibly well crafted, painted, and finished. I was rather suprised to find a DiMarzio pickup in the neck. Not complaining, was simply surprised. I was expecting Dean's DimeTime. The Razorback's really are beasts. The body is considerably larger than the ML and this thing weighs in at 9-pounds. Sweet!

For fun, I laid down some tracks through the POD. I used the tracks I'd recorded a few days eariler -- clean sound -- with my Far Beyond Driven. Using the same settings across the board I doubled the tracks with the Razorback. Holy hell! The Razorback sounds like a monster. It's BIGGER, deeper, and has amazing resonance. Again, sweet!!

Head to head, there is zero comparison between the Razorback and the FBD. Yes, there's a hefty price difference so one would expect this. Clocking in at over $5k the Razorback was worth every penny.

She's been named Jessica and is, hands down, my new #1.

To all the lefties out there who want a USA Razorback I do recommend the custom. Long wait, but good things do come to those who...

While Dean on the whole does have the reputation for fine imports I can attest that their custom USA's rival any company out there. Well done Dean. This is a set of wings I'm incredibly proud to own!

If anyone has any questions please let me know.

by Graunke on Sat Aug 16, 2008 2:50 pm
So, is it considered "Wrong" if a guy decides to play for the money and not for the love of the gig?

For instance, band makes good jing on the cover circuit, dude doesn't really care for the gig, but he does it cause it's good money. Puts on a show every night, so he's not just standin there, but it's more of a job than a 'having your heart in it' sort of thing.

what do you think? Wrong? Right?

half-stack suggestion?
by Pete on Sat Aug 16, 2008 5:15 pm
Hey guys, the other guitarist in my band is looking to buy his first half-stack.

We were looking up Ebay and craigslist but i had no idea where to start with.

The main problem is that the money we have 800 and he could sell his combo for 300.

So you guys have any suggestion for halfstacks that cost under a grand, don't have to be tubes, and that sound massiv distortion for Trash metal, but good on cleans (dont have to be fender clean).

Used, new, beated up but still working are all good suggestion.

If any of you is selling, we could also deal via internet.

Thanks, Pete!

CFH Custom re-paint.
by Body_Snatcher on Sat Aug 16, 2008 7:01 pm
So after considering it for a while, and realizing how much this axe rocks, I've been thinking of getting a custom paint job on my CFH.

At the moment my idea was to get a black repaint with custom graphics on it, with a redo of the inlays by putting blocks in.

Any recommendations or ideas regarding a repaint?
