Plays on a few licklibrary dvds...if any of you have the Pantera one you'll recognise his face !
Shame he plays for Sacred Mother Tongue.
I think he has much more potential.

"New" Dean! Pictures are now up!
Well, I recently returned my ESP LTD MH-250 and got $452 in store credit. I looked around the store, and to my surprise I found a Dean guitar.
Not just a Dean, mind you, but the ONLY Dean in the entire store, the first dean I ever had. The Dave Mustaine (we all know I'm a huge fan of his and he is why I play guitar... right?) VMNTX that I sent out into the world many months ago.
How could it get any better? A price tag of 225, that's how!
Naturally, I ripped it from the wall and took it over to the front counter. I was also able to get the SD JB/Jazz set I've been wanting for the longest time, a large gig bag, and a set of strings.
I am now finally satisfied, after playing tons of different guitars, and I won't be making the mistake of letting this one go again.
Lesson of the story: Dean Rules! I don't think I'll be playing any other brand for a long time.
NOW onto some Prawns! (About damn time huh?)
Sorry that they are all sideways, I'm too lazy to fix it... Anyway, enjoy! : D : D
(Yes, they are all hand drawn pictures on my wall)

they've been known to use Deans also, shame that they don't have an endorsement. they play HUGE festivals.
Thinking about getting a different amp
Ive had my Peavey Triple XXX combo for a few months now, ive had plenty of time to tweak it, and ive finally decided id rather have something else. The midrange is horrible (I stick the knob on 0 and use my mxr pedal to add mids), the bass is too loose and there is a horrible treble bite which I cant seem to dial out. Ive tried hundreds of different settings, volume low, volume high, eq up front, eq in loop, and ive finally decided this amp isnt for me. So if can sell the amp for around £400, what alternatives can I look into? How about the Valveking? Now I know this is a budget tube amp but really how does it compare to the Triple XXX? Maybe I should look into a solid state instead? Im really not sure, so can someone maybe recommend me some good amps to check out? I only play metal btw
Theres no turning back now
Ok, as you all know, i got a 7 string.
I JUST now played my other guitar (my les paul)
it felt SO WEIRD!!! lol
Its crazy!!! idk if i can go back now
lol
I'm still having a effin blast with this 7 string HELLRAISER its unbelievable. I guess, 7 strings are gonna be my new thing for real (which is cool and fine) like i said before i got the 7 string, its something new and headed in a new direction, and thats exactly whats prolly gonna happen now.
Just to let you all know, get a 7 string, it will IMPROVE your playability by a long shot! (as i have just discoverd from pickin up my les paul lol)
Just thought i'd share that with you all, i love my 7 string
Now, ima give yall pron!!!
Just cause i crave it as just as much as you all do (i think lol)
So check it out!!!

New Guitar Day! NDC though...

hey dean!
ok so here is the low-down....i was looking on ebay for electric guitars.. and i came across this store that says they are no. 1 for selling instruments on ebay... they sell guitars, but they are custom made and so they dont have any brand names on them... here is the site for what i am talking about:
http://stores.ebay.com/National-Music-Supply-Inc_Electric-Guitars_W0QQcolZ2QQdirZQ2d1QQsclZ0QQtZkm
ok now that you looked at the site, i am sure you noticed they make some guitars after brand names... for example they have a bc rich version of a electric they make and sell... but how well could i trust people like this since it dosnt have the brand name attached to the guitar? and since the guitars are cheaper does that show the quality would not be as great?
simple questions i am asking since i hope to get my 1st electric and I happen to find this place. even tho i would rather get a dean mlx but i like the design of some of the guitars the yhave... any help would be great, so thanks and keep on rocking!

The Humans are Dead
Seriously, just listen to it if you love to laugh and like fun music. If you don't like it, you've only wasted 4 minutes. I'm sure you can make up that batin time later.
So today me and some friends were talking about repainting guitars and whatnot. I had the idea of buying another Dean ML XM (this one in natural Mahogany instead of the Black like I have) and rerouting it for a floyd.
Now, I had this idea because I was thinking about after I get a new amp that I'm going to save up for a ML 79F and once I do, put an switch the Licensed Floyd Rose with an Original and black it out. What would I do with the Licensed Floyd just sitting around? This is where my idea came, I'd buy a Dean ML XM and turn it into a project guitar and reroute for a Floyd.
What I come here to ask is would the Paulownia body be too soft for a Floyd?
I know that whenever mine bumps into anything it gets a dent or a scratch so I'm not too sure.
Thanks in advance

i want one!!!
need help deciding (Marshall 2203)
Ok i have a dilema here and need some opinions of those who have actually played either of these amps.
Im torn on whether I should get the Marshall 2203 or the 2203kk. Now Im pretty sure its possible to get the same tone from the regular 2203 as slayers as long as I use the same eq and settings as them, which I happen to know. The same eq would only cost me about 80 bucks tops to get again as Ive owned it before.
Heres the pros of the regular 2203:
it has an effects loop.
The cons, no boost or built in noise gate and no kt88 tubes which im sure helps make kerrys tone in his signature amp.
The pros of the 2203kk:
Slayer tone in a box. boost button and built in gate
The cons:
no effects loop
Now, you think i would be better off jsut getting the 2203kk and having Marshall add an effects loop? would they even do that?
Should i get the regular 2203 and get the eq and change the tubes out and already have the effects loop that I would totally use?
Would my second question cost me more or less than Marshall adding an effects loop in the kk model?

We went to Buddy Guy's Legends, and saw Magic Slim, and The Teardrops.

Can sweat increase in acidity?
Just wondering, because lately I've found I'm rusting strings and hardware a lot, LOT quicker than I used to. Can your sweats acidity increase or decrease due to lifestyle, diet, natural hormonal changes etc?
Soltero vs. Eclipse (Pros/Cons)
I havent been able to get my hands on a Soltero to jam on it, USA or otherwise, but I've played an ESP Eclipse and totally dig the neck and the balance of it. I'm looking into getting a roundie, since all my geets currently are pointies.
I was wondering who among us, that have played/own a Soltero and played/own an ESP Eclipse what their thoughts on it were and what I should potentially go and save up for.
Not a huge fan of Les Pauls really either, too heavy and I have yet to play one that I actually enjoy jamming on.
So, anyways, some feedback from all you genius that have played way more guitars that I could dream of would be appreciated.
Cheers
Saturday night I met a legend...

Plays like a Dream! My last one broke (the headstock snapped while it stood in a stand, wtf? But Jackson stood up and gave me a brand new one) This guitar is insane! Playing it is like pissing in the snow, smooth as hell!
I'm a happy camper!
No, no links here to see.
I'm not in the mood to promote piracy, but yep, it's leaked.
Does Dean stamp their B-stock guitars?
I'm interested in buying a B-stock guitar online, but I am curious if they stamp the back of their guitar necks that tell you if it's B-stock, sort of like what Epiphone does.
If anyone could tell me, that'd be great, thanks.
Whats wrong with my razorback????
I use Erine's Balls 7 string power slinky's 11-58, on my razorback i use 11-14-18-38-48-58 in Drop A. All the strngs are fine but when i play the low A i get this weird fret buzz, it's weird cause it's not buzzing cause it's hitting a fret infront of it but it's buzzing on the fret that i'm playing? how do i fix this??? i tried fatter strings and the problem just gets worse also even when i tune it up it still buzzes
Hey I am considering getting the Behringer gmx 210 combo amp, just somethin with more power and effects options than I have now. I am on a tight budget, hence the choice of amp. So if anyone has used this particular amp, Can you give me any feed back? Cause I'm gettin really tired of my old ass amp. Thanks for any info you might have. If anyone has a sweet deal on a amp. that'd be cool as well.
Rage Against the Machine @ RNC in St Paul, MN
by rridner on Wed Sep 03, 2008 11:34 am
| Quote: |
The rumors of a secret Rage Against the Machine concert turned out to be halfway true late Tuesday afternoon, when local blogs confirmed the free show on the lawn of the Minnesota State Capitol at 6:30 p.m. But, reportedly, as Anti-Flag — one of the scheduled performers for the Ripple Effect music festival — introduced RATM, police suddenly #$%@ the concert down, despite the fact that the festival had a legal permit until 7 p.m. When the angry crowd’s chants of “%$#@! you I won’t do what you tell me” failed to start the show, frontman Zach de la Rocha and guitarist Tom Morello performed an a cappella version of “Bulls on Parade,” handing a megaphone back and forth between them for the lyrics and music — Morello making the “bow-wow-wow-wakka-chikkas” with his mouth.
The pair led the assembled crowd on a march towards the heavily guarded Xcel Center and the Republican National Convention. The roughly 2,000 to 3,000 marchers met up with another group of poverty protesters and they reportedly got as far as the main barriers in front of the Xcel Center. About 200 people allegedly refused to disperse from an intersection and police fired tear gas at the protesters. The police said the protest had been broken up but there are reports of continuing scuffles between protesters and police. |
so, yesterday - the Mrs and I decided to head down to St Paul to ck out some "sights" during the Republican National Convention - basically just for the hell of it. She is a democrate and I am not really pollitical at all, but we thought it would be neat to ck it out since something like this doesn't come along very often - especially in your own town. On the way down there, I recalled my buddy telling me about a free show in front of the Capital building. We decided to head over there. I believe this was an all-day event, so when we got there around 5pm - it was pretty much over with. We did happen to see Anti-Flag, who isn't all that bad - but still not great. Regardless of the caliber of performers, it was cool to see all these people together - united - protesting the war in Iraq, our crappy government and the RNC in general. Anyhow, we got bored and started to head more into the downtown area - away from the Capital. As we were walking, some guy is like "hey - don't leave - your going to miss Rage Against the Machine!" So, we decided not to leave. I knew Rage was playing a show here the next day (today) at the Target Center w/ Anti-Flag, but had no idea they were scheduled to play the free show. As you can see from the article above - the performance did not take place. Rage's roadies began loading their gear in and sound checking after Anti-Flag was done playing. Rage was behind the stage, waiting to play. All of a sudden the entire crowd starts chanting "LET THEM PLAY, LET THEM PLAY, LET THEM PLAY!" I had no clue why they were chanting as there was no announcement that Rage would not be playing. The crowd continued to chant "LET THEM PLAY!" as well as some more antagonistic lyrics from some of Rage's more popular songs. After this went on a for a while, the crowd began to sing the National Anthem. None of this seemed to get the cops to let Rage play - as they had apparently cut the power to the stage. After a while of what seemed like forever - waiting.....Zach De La Rocha and Tom Morello came out into the crowd with a megaphone that they passed back n forth. They began spitting off anti-establishment statements, to get the cops in riot gear riled up - as well as the crowd. People seemed to be hanging on their every word. The musicians had everyone sit down in the grass as they began to perform "unplugged" impromptu versions of some the main parts of a couple of their songs - "Bulls on Parade and "Killing In the Name". Zach sang and Tom played guitar riff noises with his mouth - lol. This went on for 10-15 minutes before it was apparent no show would be played by Rage. After the impromptu set was over, everyone marched out of the Capital building courtyard and into the steets of St Paul. It was quite amazing! There were cops in riot gear, on bicycles, on motorcycles and there were even SNIPERS positioned on a building overlooking the courtyard where the stage was constructed - it was crazy! I am by no means a pollitical activast, so we did not join in on the marching/protesting. We stood by and waited for "something" to happen for about 10 minutes or so. Nothing. Although I did have a feeling something bad was going to go down - which also contributed to me not partaking in the march. I do not need to get beatdown by cops because I missed a Rage show. It was very interesting and am very glad we went down there. As it turns out, my gut was right - the protestors from the Rage march ended up getting tear gassed!
Good thing I got out of there, huh!??!

The best band....peroid.!
by Büdda on Wed Sep 03, 2008 4:52 pm
I FUCKING LOVE THIS BAND. THEY ARE THE BEST BAND IN THE WORLD, PEROID.
In fact why do you guys listen to anything else at all? Priest is where it is at. Every other band in any other genre sucks ballsac's mother and is a complete waste of your time and energy. Priest is the ruler of all music, electronic or other wise and every metal band that Halford allows to exist should lick the inside of his butt in gracious appreciation.
KK created all pop/hiphop music for his amusement and to stick a thorn in Rob's side for a laugh. Ironically, this same music provides atmosphere for when Rob cooks dinner for his lovers. It would seem that Lady Marmelade and Right said Fred provide the most intimate of atmospheres.
I for one am totally grateful that Rob Halford and Judas Priest have shown us all the way and proved that they are the only band worth listening to and every other band, artist, performer and form of musical expression is crap. Even Jesus would kill to be part of such a legendary and all powerful band. God himself has already fired slayer and hired Priest to headline the apocalypse, becasue he needed a sound track that Uber cool and so heavy that even Satan himself would bow down and suck Halford's Toes. God even lifted the ban on harleys in heaven just for Rob.
Thank you to priest for showing me the way , the light and the man thong. When I see KK play guitar, it makes me thnk of how much Dimebag sucked and Zakk is a wanker. It also makes me want to give myself a guitar enema, AND a full frontal lobotomy all at once. I want to spit on myself, call myself trash and quit playing guitar and pick up a more suitable endeavor like singing lead for a stud leather band. I only say this becasue KK and his carbon copy are too awesome for words and since I am not worthy I should NEVER GO NEAR A GUITAR AGAIN. Neither should any of you for the Priest is too powerful and epic to be shamed by existing in the same world as such crap musicians like all of us. So thanks for that guys, we all now know our place on planet Halford.
cause I gotta have faith-a faith-a faith-AH!

New GC Catalogue W/Mick Mars
by Wombat on Wed Sep 03, 2008 4:52 pm
Did you see the new Guitar Center catalogue with Mick Mars?
He looked creepy enough in the '80s when he was about fifty.
Okay, so - there's this awesome thing I get for staying on at school for another two years, it's because my mums a single parent and earns less than 30,000 quid/$60,000 dollars a year, I get paid £30/$60 every week, just simply for attending school.
That amounts to around £120/$240 dollars a month, which means I'll be seeing my Vintage Modern full stack in about 3 or 4 months.

TIKAY!!!
NOW BEYOTCHES!
...so. His newest Fender signature Strat is quite nice, I've played it a few times and dig the scallops. But I have a question..
It's modelled after a 71 Strat...while I don't know much about Strats, I know some here do.
Why does the guitar only have 21 frets?...as opposed to the 22 or 24 that I've thought was 'normal'?
The big problem with this is that to play certain Yngwie songs, you need to his that 22 fret note!....I mean, the intro the Far Beyond the Sun needs it, as the solo in Liar.
I mean, you might be able to get away with heavy bends at the 21st fret, but it's not really practible.
Any ideas?...opinions?...other than why am I looking at Fenders??lol..
Playing/recording without making noise. Pod?
So, I live in an Apt building and every time I turn my amp on at all my neighbor knocks on the door.
I've been looking at the Line 6 Pods.....I have a Roland VS880 recording machine, and figure with a Pod I could jam and record with headphones.
What do you guys recommend for a good metal tone without shaking the house?
Guitar Center makes me EXTREMELY mad...
Ok. (Rant Mode On)
I dropped off my guitar yesterday because the high e strings snapped. First off, the dude charged me $8.50, he said it included service. I thought, ok, that's perfect. Nothing I can't pay for.
So, today I go there, they charge me $30 for changing strings! I got so pissed, I told the guy I wasn't going to bring the guitar in for repairs there if they try to jip me on these repairs... so then, today, I went out for a few hours with some friends. I come home, just wanting to play my guitar, new strings, I pop open the case... BOOM, G String is popped out. WTF MAN! I'm bringing it in tomorrow, and this place is a good 25 miles from here, and I'm telling them I want on the fricken' spot free service. I can't take it anymore! The guitar has nothing but problems, I just want everything to be fixed, so that I don't have to worry about a fricken' string breaking, and so I can PLAY in peace, and not on my crappy Epi!
(Rant Mode Off)
Now, a question... WILL they service me for free? They ought to right? They didn't do their job with changing the strings, so they really should... Please, someone tell me if they would fix this for me? I don't want my Dad to kill me with gas bills, and the money he's paying for the repairs... I just want my guitar...

So Iv'e been trying to plan my musical expenditures......
by Typhaon on Thu Sep 04, 2008 9:06 am
You know, guitars, amps, PA Gear, recording gear. All I'm really doing is planning what I will buy, and in what order. I still have alot of things to buy Guitar wise but my financial situation is hindering much from happening. After estimating my average weekly expenditures and paycheck, Iv'e realized it would take me about 2 months to afford the cheapest guitar item on my list, which is just one 4x12 guitar cab. Of course it's a high quality item, but It's not quite the highest you can get, It's still up there.
I believe this has alot to do with my Job and my manager. I've been working at a Wawa for, a gas station basically, 40 hours a week for 8 months at 8.25 after one pay raise, started at 7.75. Mind you this is my first taxable job. I've done HVAC side jobs with my dad and other under the table jobs, but only wawa has been taxed.
However when I was the only associate working 40 hours a week I began to wonder why that was. Now I love to work, I'm very passionate about my job, And as my shift managers could tell you am one the hardest workers there. Well after the mass exodus of people leaving when school started other reasons. I talked to one of my fellow coworkers, nice guy, but doesn't do much work. He was happy that they were leaving because that meant more hours for him.
I didn't like it because alot of the coworkers that left made my job a little easier. Of course my hours stayed the same, as mostly everyone else was bumped to 32-40 hours. But the coworker i mentioned before was asking me if there was a wage cap there and when he was eligible for a raise because he wanted to make more than the $9.50 he was making. That's when I think 9.50!?!? Well this wouldn't be a problem if he hadn't only been working there for a month. But on top of the fact he's a horrible worker and he's making over a $1.75 more than me staring out really steams me.
Then I realize he goes to my GMs church and that was one of the only reason he hires me. Now my GM has known to have changed since he had his first store, (my mom could tell you because with her at the same store). The thing is he put me into the system at $7.75, altough he wasn't the one who interviewed me. And the I think whole reason why i was getting 40 hours while everyone else was getting less was because he knows I'm cheap labor. I will work no matter what my wage, but I'm thinking of quitting my job, as so far it looks pretty dead end from my viewpoint, and the whole wage thing makes me feel unappreciated and angry.
But I think before I quit, if i do end up doing that. I'll go to my regional manager and ask her, as she is good friends with my mom. Between Me, my mom, and three or four other coworkers we have a lot of complaints on him, and some evidence we believe to support that he is a black racist (yes there is such a thing). But anyways, i could use some advice on ways to handle this situation before I decide to really quit.

Price Down Again - Crate Tube
I just ordered one of these last night for $149 now this morning they're $329............. I just wanted a cheap tube practice amp and this was about as cheap as I could find. It won't get hard road use and will probably never leave the basement.
http://www.music123.com/Crate-V-Series-V18-112-18W-1x12-Tube-Guitar-Combo-Amp-487051-i1322756.Music123
The pre-sale was definatly cheaper than when in stock. Now the biggest thing I've heard was that they have crappy tubes and speaker so for the $149 I figured I'd replace them if they suck. I like the old Jensen's used in the Fender amps but was wondering about tubes.
Which brand of EL34's are good warm tubes? I'm n ot looking for shredder crunch or high output but nice warm bluesy / vintage sound.
White Zombie to reunite?!?!

| After ten years apart, Sean Yseult, J. (Jay Yuneger) and Ivan de Prume have decided to reunite White Zombie. Sources close to the band say that Rob Zombie will not be coming back. "The band have asked for Rob to come back but he has no interest. But the band wants to get this band back on the road, so a new singer is being searched for. There are a few singers in mind. But no one has been auditioned as of yet," says Jason Ridman band publicist. They have some choices for a new singer which include Scum Of The Earth vocalist/guitarist Riggs. No shows as of yet are planned. They will be pushing to have something ready by the beginning of 2009. |
Thin Lizzy Fans?

Do we have any Thin Lizzy fans?

Favorite way to play?
by Vman on Thu Sep 04, 2008 8:51 pm
I was thinking about this cuz I still have no pants on and its almost 5 O'clock
Whats your favorite way to play guitar?
examples: Sitting/standing, Dressed/naked/, inside/outside, behind your head etc etc.......
I love to play in the morning in boxers standing indoors cuz I dont think the neighbors want to see me in boxers
and I go from the Blues to Classic Rock and then to Metal
so my les paul just got raped....
the iceman now has the lp's Bridge pickup which is a seymour duncan distorsion, the les pauls gold bridge and soon the lp's gold tuners,
and also the one gold knob
It's been an awesome day. First I wen down to GC and picked up a new set of Kerry King EMG's for less than $170 You can't even get the regular 81/85 set for that low. Then me and the wife set a romantic date for Nov. 4th in Denver. We'll be spending the evening with Metallica and Down LIVE!!! The best seats for the show are sold out, but we still got a decent section. The only thing that could have topped the day would have been to get a new guitar to throw the EMG's in. Maybe tomorrow.
Would this work to dye a fretboard?
Well im looking for a 2st beacuse i cant afford a pro
But when i do get one i want to get rid of that rosewood fingerboard.
would this stuff be good to dye my fingerboard?
http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Finishing_supplies/Colors,_tints,_and_stains/Black_Fingerboard_Stain.html
And how would i go about doing this (application, time to let dye sit, how to remove excess, etc.)
Im no expert but I am a computer geek, and when I have a problem I try to eliminate what it isn't....so the way I see it you have changed the pickups ..I have emg's in my Kramer and they are wicked pickups quiet or loud loud they are amazing and like it was said earlier emg's come with the whole harness and everything so it is feasible to say that the hardware is not the problem lets face it a guitar is essentially a 2 or 3 stage circuit very little can go wrong there, so it would have to be something else. I had a a weird thing happen sometime ago with squealing when I was recording multiple guitars and using a single effects loop with a nose gate and a compressor, I am uncertain what it was exactly other than when I lowered the threshold the squealing stopped.
Another thing that it might be is when I was recording a tune I got some freaky feedback off my computer screen ( I think) I #$%@ oiff the screen when I was actually playing and the feed back stopped....
I do however have a weird hum as of late and through my Marshall and both of my deans(MLX and a vendetta) I don't know what that is all about... ....good luck to your man.....
But I have many guitars and I have had weird issues with most of them, and there is a lot to be said about amp settings and the environment you are playing in, like in your video it looked like a very big open space....sound bounces...that could be it who knows.... be cool hope it works out...Love Peace and Chickengrease

a bit random but i found it funny
by phayded on Fri Sep 05, 2008 8:18 am
call it temporary insanity or whatever. But after doing a set up on a friends baby z, I for some unknown reason started playing johnny b goode, which started the conversation that caused this madness.
The conversation went something like this:
"wouldn't the world have been a better place if they had deans back in the old days"
"yeah, Chuck Berry doing the duck walk with a slime razorback would have been cool"
" how about Elvis doing his hip wiggle with a splittail"
"nah, Status Quo rockin all over the world with 79 ml's now that i'd pay to see"
so how silly can we go with this idea?
help me go on a spending spree
by phayded on Fri Sep 05, 2008 10:22 am
ok my wonderfull wife has decided i can have £200 the end of the month to spend and i quote "on guitar stuff"
so i'll be trawlin ebay naturally as well as every online shop i know
but now i have to decide
what to aim for do i
a) spend it all on one thing
b) hold out in the hope she lets me have more in the comming months(doubtfull)
c) buy all the random stuff i've been lookin at ( like the stupid lindo travel acoustic just cause i think it looks like a cricket bat and would be funny to do a gig with)
d) by a few rubbish guits ( swifts and the like) to do up and sell on to try and up my pennies
e) all of the above
already got the evo noir comming for a joint xmas/bday prezzie (she said i could have that months ago)
p.s i hate you all(j/k) coz everytime i come on here i get really bad gas and money is always tight in my house (kids ect.) so i'm lucky if i get £600 to spend spread out over a year
So far, I'm looking for a pointy V string, 25.5 or better scale. I can't stand playing strat style guitars standing up, and if I have a 7 string, I need to play it standing up. Dean has the Razorback 7, which is attractive to me (if it was a razor V it'd be a done deal), so my question is "what are my other options? The Ibanez Xiphos seems to be a less costly option (about half the price of the RB), Rico has the Vixen 7, but I don't want to plunk down that kind of scratch for one. So I'm looking for other suggestions, preferably a V over a star shape.
Metal and classical fans the same?

Need some help with pickups....again....
Ok guys tomorrow is shopping day and all my toys need new pick ups. I have been trying to groove with Duncans lately cause im sick of active pickups, so my question goes out to you guys as this: i have a JB and a Dime at my disposal. I need neck pick ups. and one more set for my cadi. whats the best way to mix and match those? jazz and dime, 59 and dime, 59 JB, something else im not hip too. Please Help Brothers.
P.S. the rhythm guitar player in my band is still using EMGs, and he has that EMG crunch thats so thick i hate him for it lol. Any Duncan i can rock that will match that so we have a bit more of balance in our playing?
Rock on guys

I'm gonna have the next installment of my shred series thingy posted up tomorrow, working on it tonight and I have a few ideas to keep it going for quite a few weeks, including a cool thing at the end
I'm also gonna move the thread into this main guitar forum, as it's easier for people to access here and it'll get a bit more attention (not in the zomgz I'm so good at this!) way though, from a pure learning perspective. =P
Catch y'all tomorrow, and if you have any ideas of stuff you want me to cover, post em up!
Mandals, just shoot yourself now.

YUMMY!!!
what have you been gasson for?
classical music mixed with metal
there was a recent post done about someone being a classical music fan along side metal or some bs like that.
so, it got me thinking about one of my most favorite bands of all time that i hadnt listened to in a while. thought i'd give you a link to one of their classics.
the band is called 'Haggard'. i know a few of you are aready familiar with em. listen to the entire song from start to end. and heads up, if you dont like growls...perhaps this isnt your thing. the growls in this song quite literally freaked me out when i first heard it a few years ago.
and if you have any other bands that you know of that make similar music, let me know.
i know of X-japan and their song 'art of life'
i also know of Therion
and numerous gothic metal bands that have these classical influences...but nothing quite like Haggard

Something For Me To Drool Over.
I was at my loca music shop today lookin at their Amp selection, when I saw this little beauty http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Squier-Tele-Custom-Electric-Guitar?sku=515113 She may be a Squire, But I want her, Very Deep and smooth tone, First I gotta save up fer a new Amp, then she's mine, all mine!!!!!!!!!!!!
My amp Died...........Finally
Well, I knew this day would come, but just to add insult to injury, My peice o crap amp finally croaked today, Kool-aid was spilled on it, totally accidentally, it has been shortin out on me, but I still was able to play on it, not anymore. I've had the same amp for 6 years, It was time to move on.
So my vol knob for my neck pickup on my slime is stuck. The nut would tighten when loosening and tighten when tightening. So I ripped out the stem to see if that would help and no dice. Next I take the wire cutters and start hacking at it. Still no luck. Just ran my dremel over it a little but decided to stop and ask you guys? Pron to come of all parts of this slime later today.
PedalBoard Ideas and construction
It seems that everyone who plays a guitar in the Metal zone probably has some kind of pedalboard or stomp box favorite or "Stompboxes" etc...
This was what I have done to create a custom petalboard that was clean and quick to set up and pretty much free of problems. Mainly I needed something to meet my needs. I have before had some custom places make me to requested size a flight case type which is very nice. But evolution can change with ones stompboxes and in some cases nothing stays the same so it was also important to be able to remove and reconfigure some stuff once in a while if something new comes along I wanted to try. Like my Eventide Time factor. Damb..this is by far the best stomp box digital delay I have ever heard or had!
So I bought this large size "Pedalboard" right?...it is mainly perfect and ready to go if all your using is little Boss size pedals. So I had to change it..
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/DragonFlySlayer/1.jpg
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/DragonFlySlayer/2.jpg
So I gutted that little problem and made me some space for what I had. Then I needed to build a platform of some sort to park everything.
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/DragonFlySlayer/4.jpg
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/DragonFlySlayer/5.jpg
Then I screwed it down in. This gives me enough height for my pedals because it was a little deep in the empty gutted box.
Then using heavy Velcro and George L's cable I began putting the puzzle together to suit my needs. Pretty simple. The people at the Pedalboard company tripped when I showed it to them. They said they never seen anyone do that to one of their units. I told them that here at The Dean club we gear for stage warfare and we can be inovative to get the job done at times.
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/DragonFlySlayer/PedalBoard.jpg
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/DragonFlySlayer/PedalBoardII.jpg
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/DragonFlySlayer/PedalBoardIII.jpg
The Velcro holds them in place very well and they can be removed to change out or whatever....
Even the wooden platforms can be drilled and screwed in so they too can be unscrewed and removed and a new cut piece could replace whatever for any desired size within reason. On some pedals it was necessary to remove the rubber boots and then screw the screw back in to hold the base plate in tact and then it works with our velcro much nicer.
Mine has evolved already mainly because I had to have this Eventide Time Factor. Awesome clean non mushy high quality delay sound. I am also thinking now I might replace my Steve Via Waw with a Jim Dunlop Dime Crybaby. All I have to do is pull it off put the one I want in.
Check out this Eventide up close. I haven't even taken off the plastic on the blue face part yet...
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/DragonFlySlayer/EventideTimefactor.jpg
Now I have thought of just simply getting a leather Carry on type bag and pull all of my pedals out and connect them together and I liked that idea until I started thinking of the needed power supplies and power connections and then...well it tends tobecome too much wire. This way I can set the box down and remove the lid and plug in and it's ready and it is also a good clean storage box for them. They collect very minimal dust and they don't get banged all up either. All I have to do is take a tank vac to the inside once in a while.
Maybe some other people here can lay their ideas out and show me something I can use.
Im all ears... Bust me up...
Even if this gets a little bit away from the guitar itself I think we can all relate to having some kind of need for a stomp box line up.
I will refrain from the Rack scene right now.
Check this OUT! It ain't mine cause if it was I wouldn't be sellin it

DEANS QUALITY HAS DROPPED
by Flames on Sat Sep 06, 2008 9:56 am
OMG Dean's quality is so bad compared to my daisy rock with emgs, theres so much fret buzz because I can't set up my guitar right and I'm too arrogant and insulent to take my problems to a guitar tech to work them out. Look at the qualities of other brands for the same price, obviously every single other Jackson guitar is like my Jackson because Jackson never makes any bad cookies and the climate of over seas shipping has no impact when the temperature/climate changes because Jackson are made with extremely good quality that the climate can't mess with. One day I wish to marry my ESP and Jackson because they are such good quality and all Deans are crap because Dean Z is gone (even though my Dean was made a good year before he left). Obviously because I got an oddball guitar center was playing hacky sack with all dean qualities have dropped!
THIS IS THE DEAN FORUM, STOP POSTING DEAN BASHING BECAUSE YOUR OBVIOUSLY GOING TO BE FLAMED TAKE IT TO THE JACKSON, ESP OR DAISY ROCK FORUM, AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE DEANS GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!

Hey guys,
I decided a few days ago I might as well start a little miniseries here, just to teach people a few of the techniques I use - so you can get better, faster, have a few cool licks in your arsenal and just for overall practice.
So this is my first installment, and we're gonna be looking at using open strings as pedal notes. I've also included some soundclips for download so you can hear what the excersises should sound like.
Remember to play cleanly and slowly, working your way up and you'll be ripping in no time!
Exercise one just uses three notes, the open high E, G# and A. You can play it with a pick, or with legato but I choose to use a pick as it adds more definition.
Exercise two is similar, but it moves up and down a scale. This particular exersise an sound very cool when played fast.
Another thing to remember, is to use more than one finger while playing these, as it'll increase speed and dexterity. You're only cheating yourself if you use one finger for every note.
Exersise three is the hardest of the three, it comprises open strings as pedal notes, as well as a harder pedal starting on the 9th fret on the G string. Just to top it off, there's a little tapped sweep arpeggio at the end.
Again, as with exercise two, this sounds extremely cool when played fast, but this one generally tends to sound good even if it's slow.
Again, as stated before - play each one in time, cleanly and work your way up with a metronome and you'll be shredding the paint off the walls in no time!
Let me know if you'd like to get a few more installments from me, and I'll work something up.
Spread the shred!
- Ryan
i am bidding on this usa pro series. if you are going to bid, please let me know. thanks, martin

Ever Have Someone Use Pictures of YOUR Guitar???
So I am doing my Saturday morning ritual of surfing ebay when I see an add for a "Dean Ric Emmett V" and the picture in the listing is MY guitar! LOL
The bad part, it is NOT a Dean Rik Emmett but rather the White/Gold V so not only is he using someone else's guitar picture, he is misrepresenting the guitar all together.
I sent the seller a message and asked him to use a picture of his own guitar.

Randall RH300 Plus or anything else in it's price range?
by milje on Sun Sep 07, 2008 3:18 pm
I've been thinking of upgrading my amp for a while now and have been looking hard at the Randall's. Yesterday I went to a guitar shop and tried out a Randall RG200 combo, using a Razorback Explosion (the flames BTW looked SWEET! never saw one up close before) I was able to get a pretty damn good sound out of it without too much screwing around. Just for comparison, I tried a Krank Revolution at another shop and couldn't get the sound I wanted out of it (could have been the guitar too though, Epiphone Les Paul).
Anyone use a RH300 or RH150? What do you think of them? I'm wanting to get a good high gain sound for Pantera type music with one gain mode, and use the other for a good overdriven Van Halen-ish sound. For cleans I just want it to sound clean and not start to get dirty with any decent volume (my Peavey Bandit 65 overdrives at around 3). I want to be able to play it in my house at lower volumes, and also be able to do small gigs with it (local bars and maybe smaller outdoor stuff).
Any other amps in the price range of the RH300 that you'd recommend? Let's say approximately $800-$1250 or so for the head and cab.

So I'm burning through strings pretty frequently now and I'm guessing it would be better economically to buy the strings in bulk. Problem is, I don't know where to find them. Can I go to a music store and they can order a bunch for me at a better price or is there a good place online? I was looking for the DR coated strings. Can anyone help?
I have a question that i need answered...
I really want to write a song and ive been trying really hard i just cant get it. I want something that is like shred but at the same time thrash metal like megadeth. It would be like megedeth meets MAB. I want the solo to be the MAB part and the riffs and what not to be like megadeth. My problem is i have no talent or skill when it comes to writing. Is there anything to help me besides theory(Ive heard that too much)? What can i do to come up with ideas? How do i make things flow together like a dream? How do i come up with a solo? WHERE SHOULD I BEGIN??? (HELP ME!!!)

I was listening to my digital cable metal channel and indestructible by disturbed came on
and I have said I would never like a song by disturbed and now I have also heard inside the fire and I like that one too.
I now find myself trying to learn the guitar part to indestructible.
2 bitchin songs that I thought I would never like.
Dave plays the club scene once again!
I haven't played in a bar band in 8 years, but my best bud Jimmy and I are putting a new band together. The bass player and drummer from my church are amazing players and they have been eager to get something going for quite a while now, so we decided that there's no use in waiting around any longer. Jimmy has a foot in the door with a booking agent here in Houston that specializes in the up-scale clubs and private functions. No more beer joints for me. We are planning on doing everything from Steely Dan to Journey. All four of us sing, so the sky's the limit. We are having our first rehearsal tomorrow. I am pumped!!
**NDC** Howard Stern's own Richard Chrisy cutting loose!
This was a vid he recorded in studio not too long ago. I heard about it but finally got to witness it. Richard is GOD on the drums fellas. Too bad he isn't with Iced Earth anymore. I know he was with Death for a while too before Chuck passed.

...Looking for some tips. I'm trying to figure out how to solo over riffs I've come up with and can't seem to break a certain pattern, or come up with much that sounds good. So any solo shapes, tips, techniques, whatever type them up here.

Things I have learned from the road! LOL
I just got back from a small 3 day, 3 show, 500 mile journey with the new band. A sort of getting to know you, opening jaunt with the guys. So what I have learned.
1. A conversion van and trailer for 5 band members gets tighter by
by the hour.
2. Strange smells start to come from areas that you can never find.
3. 5 guys and a few drunken after show skanks don't mix in the van.
4. Make sure you bring your own entertainment. I don't know how
many frippin' times we watched Talladega Nights, and I love that
movie, but it gets OLD really fast. Although we did watch
Wedding Crashers and Anchor Man. For some reason though the
guys just wanted to fast forward to certain scenes. So like I said
bring something else to do. There was only one tv in the van
and you can't really escape it.
5. Bring Pepto with you. The "runs" hit at the worst time possible.
Oh and those paper a$$ gaskets you find at some truck stops are
cool. If you find a truck stop with them, take as many as you can
for the places that don't have them.
6. We did stop to crash and shower a few times so make sure you
bring some creature comforts to pamper yourself with. Oh and on
that note... Make sure you know that you will get made fun of
when you break out the Underdog PJ's to sleep in.
7. Learn to share. (This is a big one!)
8. Forget your privacy. (Another big one!)
9. Bring your cell phone charger. (I remembered, but for some
reason 2 of the other guys forgot and were chasing down a
Verizon store for 2 hours) That was fun... NOT!
It was a fun time and although there were some hiccups along the way was well worth it.
this video made me shart in my pants LOL!!!

Want some guitar pictures?
by Lon on Mon Sep 08, 2008 3:26 pm
Here's the deal. I'm getting out of the guitar business, just time to move on to other interests. I've got a ton of guitar pictures I've collected over the years on my computer and I'd hate to just hit the delete button. Not sure if anyone would be interested in them, there's lots of pics of my personal guitars over the last 7 years as well as pics of vintage Strats and LPs that I've collected off the net. Lots of pretty money shots and a number of detail shots, mainly of the vintage Strats, just in case I ever hit the lotto and needed shots to compare. If anyone wants them I'll make ONE copy on a couple of cds and mail them off. I'm the kind of guy that needs to absolutely purge myself and go cold turkey or I'll never get out! My 2 guitars are going under the bed since they were both birthday presents and I can't sell them. So there it is, first one that says they want them (if anyone) gets them.
Ordering hardware for my MLF - OFR swap *DONE*
OK so here's the deal ... I'm planning to do the classic blackout on my tbz MLF.
First things to buy in my list:
- black speed knobs
- black pickup rings
- black tuners
The rest, including OFR will have to wait until some more money comes in !
I think I'll order those from Warmoth.
So, for the rings I have to order one small angled and one tall angled right ?
Any ideas for the tuners ? Do I have to look into good tuners or just the simplest ones since I already have a locking system for the floyd ?
Also, which ones would fit the existing holes ?
Here's some fresh balcony porn of the guitar ...
Thanks for listening

Free ticket to Trivium, 9/10/08 in St. Pete FL

Age and Experience
by otomix on Tue Sep 09, 2008 10:33 am
Hey guys, Just wondering how old all our dean forum brothers (and couple of sisters) are, and how long you have all been playing for?
I'll do a poll so as you dont have to give exact info out if you dont want to.
i played on and off for about 10 years.. still sucked(well at lead anyways... I'm a killer rhythm player as I played drums most of my life). for about the last 6 months I have been really trying to learn the theory side of it and actual lead guitar playing rather than playing the same old crap over and over and over!
Oh, and age? about 25.....
-Dave
Green Grass and High Tides Forever brother!
i think i fugged up my FBD... help if ya can
Ok, so i drove outta town for a few days and forgot i had my FBD in my trunk, so now theres top rust on the locking nuts and on a few other metal parts, apart from needing new strings. But do you think it might have gotten on the pups?
there is a weird buzzing sound that kills tone when i plug it in. what can i do to fix this?
Yep, it's been released, the Perpetual Flame artwork, and it looks fuc kin' awesome if you ask me. He's lost loads of weight and is looking in great shape (I'm speaking about him in real life before some moron points out it's been edited ) and I think this albums gonna be great!
The countdown begins
What are peoples thoughts of the new album?
Ive listened to it a few times now and I'm not sure what to think yet.
I enjoyed their first album.
What are your thoughts?
I need tips!
by Dim3 on Tue Sep 09, 2008 8:30 pm
I'm on the lookout for a new amp. Now, I don't want a stack or anything, what I'm looking for is something that I can play at night through headphones. I have evening shifts (6PM-2AM) starting next week so I can't really play with my half stack or combo because my neighbours aren't too understading for my needs to shred in the night
As long as it sounds great through headphones I don't give a crap if it's a modelling amp or whatever.
So shoot your opinions!
The ability to record would be an added bonus!
I already know about the Line 6 POD obviously, but I'm wondering if there's any other good options out there?
what do yall think of the metal muff it will probably be the first distortion pedal i will buy because i want a tone similar to all that remains on my peavey valveking 112 and i think i need a boost...do yall think this is a good idea and will it get me the tone i so eagerly desire??? thanks for all your help

Yo! I always lurked on this badass forum (which, oozes with badassery) so I thought seeing as I had a few posts, and finally could find an avatar (don't have my own camera, that's all the pr0n for now ) I would start postin'! So good day to you, ladies and gents
It'll be nice to actually talk to some of you guys after lurking for so long-CJ, BLOODROT, Lanning etc to name but a few Just incase anyone cares, I will have vids of me playing up SOON, and my fave bands are Metallica, Megadeth, Trivium, Machine Head, Testament, Pantera and the like
So yeah, to not get facefucked by the mod squad I will share a rather interesting story:
About a week or so ago, my mate was like "Dude, what's a sick guitar I can get for about £500?" He's into Foo Fighters, RHCP, but lots of funk and classic rock and stuff like. I thought I'd recommend the Soltero to him, cus I'd always ranted about how immense the V-neck on my RB is....
Now today, I come into the music dept of our school, he's in there with a BRAND NEW TRANS AMBER SOLTERO....ripping out some cool-ass pentatonic, bluesy rock lick (on a Marshall MG30DFX, I know, what a waste of a good guitar )
So yeah, I spread my.....wings for a bro
See y'all soon....

New PU's for Tiger Eye Caddy? ( PU are here!! w/ Pron)
by Graunke on Tue Sep 09, 2008 10:10 pm
I'm at a wits end here. The stock pu's are just not hot enough, and I don't dig them at all.
I want a HOT tone, maybe just a c*nt hair below a dimebucker in the Bridge, and something FAT and CRISP AS ALL HELL for the neck.
I want to give the Dean USA's PUs a try, so please no X2N FTW or EMG or Blackouts.
Saw em Saturday night and they owned. Gonna see em again tonight. If anyone gets the chance, make sure you catch em on this tour. It may be their last. Oh yea on a side note, Michael Amott was playing a couple Dean V's.
BLIND THEORY is the name of my band and we just got our myspace page up. The URL is in my sig so please go check it out. It aint much yet because we got up yesterday and are still figuring things out(we aint the most technologically advanced). We will try to get music up but that may take a while because we are still in the writing/recording process. We will try to get more pics up and everything but we just started so yeah!!! So check us out and leave any comments good or good! thanks.

to learn on drums. My band moved our practice area from my drummers house, to my garage. So his extra drum set is out in my garage pretty much all the time now. I just need a couple of easy songs to learn, since I've always wanted to learn to drum.
*Yes, I know this is some what offtopic.
so its the first tube amp ive owned and ive had it for a couple months now and its starting to act up...the clean channel is lightly distorted now and sounds pretty bad, and the distorted channel is humming alot more and is more fuzzier.......is it the tubes?
Might switch over to solid state
So I love my valveking and even running my 10 band and all effects through the loop there's something more I want and then I'll plug into my Microcube RX on the rectifier channel and love it. Any one know any good solid state or tube amps I could get that will nail a tone like that while handling effects?

Question of Power/watts (bass)
I found out what one of my favorite bass players uses for his rig, and I'm not sure how it makes sense.
He said that he uses an Ampeg SVT-VR Head, which I found is 300w. And he uses that ONE head to power TWO 8x10 Mesa cabs. The math doesnt seem to add up. He also uses an Ampeg Tube DI pedal with a ProCo Rat Distortion.
1. Ampeg SVT-VR head
2. Mesa Boogie 8 x 10 cabs
3. Pro-Co Rat guitar distortion pedal
4. Ampeg tube DI
5. Audio Technica wireless system
Can someone maybe explain how that works power wise? 300w powering TWO 8x10 cabs?
Lo peeps,
Just a quick confirmation really; I think my dimebucker is broken, but ive never had a pickup failure, so I dont know for certain...
Basically, I restrung, played a little then turned on the amp. The dimebucker sounds like crap, really thin and no distortion hardly. It sounded weaker than my jazz neck pickup....
At first I thought it was my amp, but a check with a buddys guitar revealed it not to be the case. Checking my axe on another amp gets the same thin tone on the DB. The wiring at the back of the pickup looks superficially fine (no loose connections), but I havent checked for dead wires yet.
What might have happened? Is there any way to fix p/us, or is it time for the bin?
Hey fellow Brothers and sisters of the forum. I don't know how appropriate this is but since you guys are like a support group for everything else, i figured i would share a brief story with you.
I have lived my life as an addict, drugs and booze. Recent events in my life have finally forced me to make a change after seven years. I post this thread because i had a really rough night last night. One of those make or break moments of sobriety. Ive been completely clean for ten days now, i dont even smoke cigs anymore, And i just needed to vent because i dont have anyone else to turn too.
I know this has little to do with the forum but i needed to share this with the world, and as you guys are the best around, i thought no better place.
For those of you who have been here and survived i applaud you, for those of you struggling i feel you. this sucks. alot. but life has been better, clearer, as of late. my family dynamic is stronger, ive started putting some of my demons to rest, my friendships are more solid since ive learned who was a friend and who was an enabler. Not to mention my improvement in playing.
Sorry if this is out of line or if it brings anyone down, but you never know who might read this and be waiting for a life line ya know.
Anyway thats my peace for the day, thanks for reading

Help identifying an old band
OK when I was in my late teens there was a band, around 91-93 ish that was really heavy and did have some screming vocals but also had some orchestra instruments in there too. They were a bit progressive, but not in a Red Chord or Messuggah kind of way. I can't for the life of me remember who they were and I don't have any of thier music anymore. I want to revisit thier stuff. If any of you have any idea who they may have been please let me know. I will know the name once I hear it. Thanks in advance.
Dedicated to all those lost and serving.
Just wanted to throw out a thread in respect for everyone lost on the 11th in 2001. It was a day I'm sure will always remain in our memories.
Prayers out to everyone who lost somebody that day and to all our boys fighting the good fight. All international soldiers as well, thanks to everyone.
Does any one have or tried the Line 6 Pod X3 live? They idea of all your effects on one giant board and the ability to engage more then one at a time with one button intrests me.
Or do you recommend something different?

I have a line on a guitar REALLY cheap there and the seller is lazy. I keep calling him ready to make the deal, he talks like he wants to go forward and then forgets or blows it off. I want to paypal the guy money but he said he hasnt used his paypal in a while and needed to check if it was still open. Like i sadi, its been two days and i call him and he said he still hasnt checked yet. This guy hasnt a clue. Holy sh*t this album is sick it aint st. anger, it aint load era, and it isn't the old stuff either its just an album that stands on its on and I like that. The mixing isnt the best but I'd rather have good material than s#%t songs and good mixing.
check this thread out about an email from Ted Jensen who mastered the album http://www.metallicabb.com/index.php?showtopic=85317&st=0
Here's a petition for a remix or remaster. Probably unlikely but raise awarness of the albums sound quality http://www.gopetition.co.uk/petitions/re-mix-or-remaster-death-magnetic.html
Long or Short shaft pots...
Well I removed the tone pot from my Schecter C-1 Elite... am gonna switch out the 500k volume for a 300k volume but im unsure about whether its long or short shaft... anyone know? How do you tell the difference.... noob here.. Thanks guys
Cindy Wilson just has the best voice. I know this probably won't fly here, but surprise me.
Ricky Wilson usually played with only four strings on his guitar. It gave him that kinda snappy twang. Kate Pierson would go on to probably get more accolades, but Cindy is my girl. Her voice just aches.

How is it? All I've heard is Rock And Roll Train, and its not bad. Should I get it?
EDIT: i saw Nick Catanese today
he is going to be at a guitar store's grand opening in durham tomarrow and i don't know how to conduct myself or whats going to happen. so what happens at these singings?
EDIT: Nick was freakin cool. he was a rockstar and an hour late but it was all good there was a guy there that had a Nick sig washburn that was like the 3rd prototype that used to owned by Nick and he let me play it. it was amazing unfinished neck realy similar to zakks. and all black. then Nick shows up with his parents who were realy nice people. i get in line and the crazy thing is there is only like 20 people there. and i go threw and Nick gives me a bunch of crap. it was the first time to ever see his sig guitar in person. and there where two of HIS there not productions but belonging to him. and i said, "dude i've never seen your guitar before and the top on that thing is freakin amazing" and he said, "so you've never held one?" and i said, "no" and he said, "play this thing" and just let me rip on his guitar. he was awsome and his guitar was 12 pounds but it waled sooo much. its the same one he is using in the video link below. after i go threw it his me he gave me a set of his sig strings how cool is that. so i get back in line to thank him and he was like no problem, AND GIVES ME TWO MORE SETS. he was one of the nicest people ever. there was a lady there with his pic tattooed on her arm. and after meeting him i can see why she likes him so much, he was an amazing guy. he signed the neck of my project guitar. and the guy that owned the guitar store sprayed it with laquor clear coat to protect it. how cool is that?
oh and ryan he said to hello to his texis brother.
now pics.
i was so excited my metal horns are all @#$%&$@
all the stuff including strings and pics singed to me. and my neck
the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUCbqy9H_CQ
i just put his strings on my lp and i had to sand the nut to make the slots wider for all three wound strings. the lowes i've ever had for an e was a 52 and his a is a 52 the e is a 60. there pretty sweet though.
NDC Interesting epiphone...
I went into the local guitar store today and saw a Customized Epiphone Gothic Explorer. It had a Epiphone Floyd, and had round mirrors embeded all over the body and one in the headstock, and matte black refinished paint. The paint was a little lighter than normal Gothic Epi's and it felt very rough. Price was $9**.99 used. Didn't buy it and so pics, sorry.
My friend playing guitar.
by Brendan on Sat Sep 13, 2008 1:29 am
My friend plays predominately acoustic guitar, and I believe he does it pretty damn well, he has a good ear, and I'll try to convince him to throw up some songs he wrote on youtube or something.
Under the same sky-Peppino D'agostino (the only video on youtube of this song, though it's only part of it)

August Rush cover
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAK1_v6Z8iU&feature=user
He also has some other stuff on there as well, mostly just "Well I got a camera, let's record!"
This is a great little pedal, check it out. I think every gigging musician needs one.
http://kansascity.craigslist.org/msg/838623605.html
Talk about ingenious.
Have you guys checked these out?
I played one today..... just when I thought I was settled on getting a mesa boogie oh man......
This modeller is amazing. i can see why meshuggah switched to them. the effects are the best ive heard on anything ever. The tone is unreal, and its completely scaleable volume wise. it sounds just as kickass thru a power amp at low volume thru a decent power amp and a couple of closed backs in stereo as it does thru a couple 4x12's
check out these clips i found. s#%t is unreal.

Hi everyone,
I made a new video of one of my old songs. I wrote the song in 2002 and decided to revisit it yesterday making a video on the way. I hope you'll enjoy it.
Solace in Scrutiny
As usual, don't forget to link your friends to it, even if you don't like it.
P.S. You can listen to the original 2002 version here:

How To Spot A Knock Off Guitar?
by jim6 on Sat Sep 13, 2008 1:20 pm
I got an email at the DOA Enrollment mailbox with an interesting question. The email stated:
"Sir, I want to buy Dean guitars from a local dealer in (foreign country). How do I check for the authenticity of the guitars? Thank you."
If anyone has telltale signs for how to recognize a knock-off / counterfeit for Dean or any other brand, please post them up. It very well could be useful information to someone.

I've seen a lot of older Deans with Kluson that were switch to other tunners. Were the Kluson a crapping tunner? I'm thinking of getting some Kluson. Are the older kluson good or should a new set be better?

Metallica tour...who's goin?
...they just sold out GM Place in Vancouver in under two hours. WOW...haven't seen that happen in a while! It's gotta be the new album, cause St Anger's tour wasn't nearly as quick of a seller...I don't even think it sold out.
Who's goin?
http://www.o2world.de/event/videos/Metallica/164.htm
how come this tune in this vid sounds like they learned the trooper and changed some notes.
So I've been set on getting the MXR EVH Flanger for a little while here. Problem is the crazy price tag on that sucker. I listened to the MF clips of that one and the Boss BF-3 and actually I think the Boss one sounded better. Anyone have some experience? I really want to be able to get the kind of flanger sound like on the end of Pure Hatred by Chimaira. Can the Boss do this?
Looking too spice up my playing a bit. Any one got some, deep bluesy, classical, spanish or even cool metal licks for me? Throw them up here, I'm sure other people will dig it.
i know this isnt the gibson forum
but what are the standard volume pots used in their guitars? 500k?.................i have an SG special and i wanna change the pickups to get some high as balls out output in the bridge position.....thanks

Trivium's 7 string guitars?
by AhsanU on Sun Sep 14, 2008 6:25 am
I'm a pretty big Trivium fan and since their new album songs are all going to be played with 7 strings I thought I'd purchase a decent 7 string guitar.
I was thinking of getting the 7 string Razorback but I just love Corey's 7 string guitar. The shape and color is just amazing imo.
My question is will they ever go in production? Their 6 string guitars are currently up for sale, but nowhere do I see their 7 string guitars.
Thanks!
Ok there is thousands of clipping topics on other forums, and I wanted to see what you guys think. The material is awesome but I think its mixed to loud and I feel I have some proof ( beacause it clips BAD)

correct me if I'm wrong but as you can see on the second example the signal has been pushed so far that the top and bottom has been cut off. Therefore causing distortion (clipping) this is cold hard evidence of how far the track has been pushed, I just don't know why this has happened. It doesn't matter what version you have this is what it is and if you can't hear it then I'm surprised. Why did this kick ass album get pushed passed the limit like this.

Guitar Stores Around... (Question)
by Greg... on Sun Sep 14, 2008 3:42 pm
Kissimee, FL.?
I'm heading there in October, and plan on going to a guitar store & trying and (hopefully) buying some pedals (due to price being awesome out there)... can anyone suggest anything?
I went to GC last year when I was on holiday & it kicked the UK guitar stores arses! Any other suggestions would be awesome. the GC I went to last year was on Orange Blossom Trail, near Florida Mall... So around that area would be awesome...
Thanks guys!
Greg...
what has gas gone up to in your area due to the hurricane
I havent been out today but yesterday when I filled up at 3.99/gallon the local dunecoon said gas was suppose to go up to 7 bux a gallon. I cant see that but thats what he said.
i guess it went around 5 bux in some places so far
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080914/ap_on_bi_ge/ike_energy
Now I dont keep up much on this because it's nothing I can control. Price gouging is going to continue until the government puts a stop to it and that wont happen when big oil lines everyones pockets, but I thought most of our oil is from foreign countries so I dont see how hurricanes in the gulf of mexico really affects the cost of gas so much. Also this article says that 2 oil rigs are adrift in the gulf. Arent they made of steel? I thought steel sinks not floats. shruggs. Every day it is a new excuse why gas has to go up. Its out of control. rant over.

Alright im not asking you guys to tell me what to buy, its just i want some suggestions thats all since i havent had to opportunity to try alot of pickups out in one type of guitar. First off, my guitar is an SG Special, All mahogany, set neck, rosewood fingerboard, pretty heavy. Im looking for something that could get me some balls to the walls metal grrind explosive demon war attitude lol. But at the same time i like to go a little oldschool and play some AC/DC, Van Halen, Hendrix etc. I also like to play doom, sludge, grindcore, grunge, blues, funk etc. So its pretty hard to find something that could decently do all of those. Ill prolly just use the neck pickup for the softer genres butat the same time I like to add some bite to my bluesy solos. So far ive been looking at,
Lawrence 500XL*
Knuckle nailbomb*
Knuckle Warpig
Knuckle Miracle man*
Knuckle Cold Sweat
Knuckle VHII*
Dimarzio X2N*
Duncan Invader
Duncan Screamin Demon
Duncan El Diablo
Stars are next to the ones I was looking at most..........oh and ho much do tonepros TOM bridges really improve tyour tone/sustain?

HELP!!!!!!!!
Brits Not allowed a Dixie Rebel
Right here's the problem,
I'm Huge dimebag fan so i thought that this month seeing as i've saved enough i thought i'd go out and buy a Dean Dixie Rebel Guitar, no problem, but the other day i was informed by my friend's Friend (who's from Alabama) that because i'm not a "southerner" and a Brit i should not be allowed the guitar because its like(and i quote) "breaking an unwritten law". now I know there's no racism in music but is this guy right? Am i not allowed to play this guitar coz i'm a Brit? please tell me he's talking rubbish.
for those of you who dont know.....
that Sab's "Warning" is actually a cover, originally done by Aynsley Dunbar, a pretty underrated musician IMO, i happen to like both versions and listen to both alot. IIRC the orig. came out in '67 or '68 ish.
(NDC)Well, I'm still selling stuff...
...but figured, "Hey, why not?"
I present my very first 7:

Effects loop
by nytan on Sun Sep 14, 2008 10:49 pm
Hey guys, I'm considering a new OD/Distortion pedal for my tube amp. Was just wondering about the type of cable needed for the effects loop on the amp. Do I need 2 stereo cables or can I just use regular instrument cables?
HHHEEEAAAAVVVYYYYY METAL!!!!!!!!
Im sure most of you know that i was trying to make a song as i have posted many threads asking how to write stuff. I recently was struck by a bit of geniusness!! I have created an intro worthy of the man himself...ME!!!! It is like a raining blood/hangar 18/meet the monster type thing. It starts "mello" like raining blood then get a bit technical like hangar 18 then get rippin.

my question is. what other songs are out there that are that same type of sound... i know its a bad way of putting it. but that simple riff has so much feeling in it and i just wanna know what other songs are out there that have that same groove

what tune or tunes do you guys listen to chillax?
for me, the number 1 definitely has to be "sleepwalk" by santo and johnny.
that song's just so very soothing. it puts me in a better mood.
Dave mustaine AOD and GOW guitars... collectors?
So I have a VMNT-X guitar and I love it. I got the X model bc Im not very good and play for myself and couldnt really justify spending $1000 on a guitar that I couldnt really use to its full potential. Now I always loved Dave and his stlye of playing so I purchased this guitar. Reading alot about the ESP Hetfield and Hammett models that passed they have seemed to sky rocket in price within the last 4 or 5 years. I love the gears of war guitar and the Angel of deth guitars. Does anyone think these would ever make it as collectors and a rare oddity like the ESP jh-1, jh-2 and so forth? If the AOD is still being offered by christmas, Id prolly buy it anyway tho.

Need some toggle switch help
I traded a kid a skateboard for a lespaul today, great deal on my part. The only flaw is the toggle switch is like completely detached from the wiring thing. (not good with the names ) so it just basically jiggle around in a circle and doesn't do anything. Can this be fixed easily or do I need to have it repaired? Thanks in advance
Oh and I tried to take pics but my camera sucks
EDIT: got pics
The switch itself is detached from the guitar
Okay dimebucker haters gather round. lol
by Curt on Mon Sep 15, 2008 9:55 pm
Well I played a dimebucker in a razorback thru a randall g3 at guitar center(and yeah scrap gc sells randall now )
and everyone says that it can only sound thin and all this other crap well, BULLCRAP! lol. I used a 10 band mxr eq pedal and i got an amazing thick tone out of it. and if you think I am lying if you have a 10 band mess around with it if you have a dimebucker in your guitar. I got it to sound thick warm and cutting. I can even get a great power metal(firewind, gamma ray, etc.) just by using a bbe booster. I have found a new liking in the dimebucker for other than just pantera and damageplan stuff. I can use it for pretty much anything.
so I wanna see you all's counterpoints and why it sounds so bad to you. no offense and i am not trying to start anything but I am interested if a guy with 2 years experience can get a great sound out of it then you all can too.
Where to get guitar painted
Ive done a search and came up with nothing. I have a VMNT-X that I would like to get painted. can anyone recomend somewhere that does guitar painting? Thanks!!!
Death magnetic gh3 mix
I know Metallica is starting to take over this forum but i just found this on a site and thought it was worth sharing with u good people.
"Now things are really interesting. It turns out there is a second mix of Death Magnetic.
A short-short recap on how making albums work. In the recording studio, the artists will assemble and record their songs. Then the songs are mixed into a final mix. Finally, the album is sent to the mastering engineer for final mastering. There's a lot more involved in making commercial albums, but that's the quickie explanation.
The mastering engineer for the CD version of D-Mag was Ted Jensen of Sterling Sound. He wrote an email to a concerned fan, who then posted it to the Metallica forums:
I’m certainly sympathetic to your reaction, I get to slam my head against that brick wall every day. In this case the mixes were already brick walled before they arrived at my place. Suffice it to say I would never be pushed to overdrive things as far as they are here. Believe me I’m not proud to be associated with this one, and we can only hope that some good will come from this in some form of backlash against volume above all else.
Death Magnetic appears to have been ruined in the final mixing stage. It's here that all the songs were heavily compressed, peak limited, and otherwise turned into static mush. That's where all the problems lie.
That would normally be the end of the saga, aside from our grumbling of the lastest casualty of the music industry's insipid loudness wars. But suddenly a new wrinkle appeared from an unlikely source: the video game Guitar Hero.
Metallica made its new album available for play on Guitar Hero the same day as the commercial album's release. Because of the game's development time, Neversoft, GH's creators, were given tapes that preceeded the final mix. Put simply, they have a second mix of the album.
This is a stunning surprise, one that will in all likelihood save this album. The GH mix contains none of the heavy compression of the CD or LP versions. None of the squashing, none of the squeezing of the sounds. None of the painful jabs into your ears. Dynamic range is present in the songs. Quiet moments in songs like Unforgiven III and The Day That Never Comes are quiet, and the loud parts are loud. This is a completely different album than the version the mixing engineer destroyed.
The next question is rather obvious. When will somebody rip the GH mix so we can listen on our iPods? It's really only a matter of time. We'll have to troll through the internet for the fan mixes. Even better lies the possibility of fan-made mixes of D-Mag. This is possible because Neversoft was given the seperate tracks for their game. When you miss notes in the game, the guitar cuts out, but the rest of the band continues. This means Neversoft managed to create an album mix of their own, while also retaining the seperate channels.
I don't know about you, but I would love to tinker around and create my own D-Mag mix. Even this idea isn't a new one; Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor recently made his latest raw tracks available to the fans, so they could create their own custom mixes. In our internet age, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see more of this in the future. Games like Guitar Hero point to the future of pop music interacting with fans in new ways.
All of which points back to Metallica. In a perfect world, the band would deal directly with the terrible mixes on their new album. It really is terrible, and I remain speechless that such shoddy work would be released to the general public. If we are correct, that all the problems lie in that final mix, then this is a problem we can easily solve. I would prefer that Metallica themselves handle this. After all, it's their album.
But if that doesn't happen, we the fans are more than ready to step in. If that happens, expect "the Guitar Hero mix" to become the stuff of rock legend, like that original mono mix of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band."
what are our options along the lines of cases
lets say we want a case that can do its job and look good? to me the only cases we have to show individuality are cofin cases and that just dosent do it for me. its not my style. my band just handed out cash to each memeber and i get to get three road cases for guitars, amp head and cabinet road cases and pedal board road case. and in my search for cases i can't find what i want and i can't realy find much of a selection. other than all the cases with stupid looking graphics on them and cofin case what is there? i want a road case. black thats it on the outside(i get an air brush guy to put the band name on one side and my name on the other like on the limited editon dave mustain guitars cases) but on the inside i would like it to be lepord print. i just think the boogie street cases look sooo cool on the inside. is there any option for me other than custom? more or less i want a gator x tour case with lepord print inside.
Zoom G9.2tt VS Line 6 Floor Pod X3
Zoom G9.2tt or Floor POD X3? Or are there newer versions I should know about? I've decided that I'm gonna save up for a multi effects pedal, since I don't desperately need a new guitar. Whats everybodys opinion on what I should set my sights on? Any other recommendations?
Cheers
Update: New pron. Better photos...
I have been building a bunch of parts guitars over the last few years. I had this tele sitting around disasembled for a while and decided to put it together. When it was finished, I couldnt connect with the guitar, because it was just another tele copy to me. So I read up on some Relic Techniques, grabbed some supplies, and had a go of it. I did a very quick job. I only took an afternoon to do it. I didnt want to do the whole "make it look real" treatment as demonstrated on sites like reranch, etc. I simply wanted to take a basic parts tele, and have some fun making it look old. I did a mild relic job, figuring it was like cooking a steak. I can always cook it some more, but you cant cook it less if its too well done. Here are a couple of cell phone photos. If there is any interest at all, I will get some high quality photos of it. These cell phone photos are pretty lame. I have been working on it at work, so the guitar is still sitting in my office. Thanks for looking. This is a fun project. I still have to relic the metal bits if I want to take it to the next step. I felt like sharing this one.

Will post better pictures when i get my other camera
attended the local x-fest music festival 11 bands
right to left, me (Jeff), Caleb (my drummer), Anna, some guy who we had no idea who was, Ryan (Roadie and designated drunk), Jonah and Dan (2 guys that we'd been hanging out with in line since 7am, yes 7am, and yes Ryan is already drunk). gates opened at 11:30 am.
Sorry I don't have any pics, cameras were on the forbidden list.
but you can check photos out at www.activedayton.com
Scheduled bands were ...Black Tide, Red, Saving Abel, Five Finger Death Punch, Candlebox, Shinedown, 10 Years, Buckcherry, Puddle of Mudd, Avenged Sevenfold.
Now M Shadows had recently blown his voice again, so they had to cancel. In their place Theory Of A Dead Man, and Hinder who were both in the area and had previous gis cancelled.
I was able to get in early enough to go to the stage that Black Tide was "supposed" to play at according to the schedule. Well wrong stage and I didn't get the memo so I heard them across the field and tromped my happy little ass over there to see them. They put on a good energetic show and the crowd was eating them up. I actually managed to make my way to the rail by the last 2 songs to see them up close. Apparently they are now Randy's endorsement mates. Not a one was sporting Deans any longer, Jackson(guitar) and Schecter(bass) are now weapons of choice.
Red was supposed to be up next, but apparently had a flat tire which the bus driver did not know how to change. So their slot was filled by theory of a dead man, who despite being up earlier(11:30am) than any self respecting touring band should be turned in a good show.
While Saving Abel was getting setting up we marched over to stage #2 and caught 5 FDP. Wow...Hella show, and to top it off Caleb, who got closer than I did due to his ability to fit into small spaces, came running back to tell me he knows the drummer. apparently he just got the gig, replacing the last guy. 5FDP pit was fracking insane and Caleb managed to get clocked pretty hard when he wasn't looking, he may have a very slight concussion.
We decided to skip Saving abel and headed over to the local stage to catch Seconds Fall http://www.myspace.com/secondsfall who won the battle of the bands to get the local stage headline. PS: they don't suck
About the time Seconds Fall ended the winds which had been pretty strong started really picking up, an announcement was made that the rest of the show was unfortunately cancelled due to safety reasons. So all several thousand attendees tromped back through and over the fairgrounds to leave.
Good thing they cancelled too, although a lot of people are Flappyfleep, 40% of the dayton and surrounding areas are without power right now due to the 60-70 mph windstorms that swept through. I'm one of the lucky ones, our power was only out for 15 hours or so, they are predicting 3-5 days before everyone has power again. Trees uprooted, sheds blown apart or in some cases 4 houses down the block, roofs ripped off.
The concert is to be rescheduled with previous tickets to be honored. So maybe I'll have an update to this in the near future.
First gig in 5 years on the horizon!
Its been to damn long in light of my recent possible move to Phoenix. I talked to a few freinds to work on a Doom/Stoner metal project for a one time gig before I move. Our drummer I played with him before about four years back. I jammed with him tonight and I didnt have as near as many "WTF!?!?" moments.
Hes got a pretty serious setup. A great home studio setup and some cool amps a VHT and A Marshall MF to be exact. Im excited I havent played a show here in lincoln and my drummer has always played guitar and has never played drums in a show. Im excited to write Wednesday and put a certain purchase to good use!
Expect updates!

81 or X2n, Confused!
by ta400ci on Tue Sep 16, 2008 8:27 am
Ok, maybe I'm not that confused. But I am planning on replacing the pickups in my Vendetta 3 to something with a little more bite, heck.. alot more bite.
I have come to the conclusion that I would like the EMG 81 or Dimarzio X2N. What would the best positions for both be if I want a strong lead tone?
Also would I need to wire in a battery for the active pickup?
I am looking to play stuff like Powerglove to Between the Buried and Me. Any help?
Right, so I have this furman PQ3, works fine technically. I've been looking for a replacing the knobs, since the outer knobs (on each side) have been broken due to shipping.
The only thing that has been broken are the plastic knobs themselves.. so I was looking on the web for replacing all of em.. except I dont know which will fit?!
Any of you have some experience, advise or ideas?
I was looking at these Marshall ones.. but like I said.. dunnow if they will fit..

My CFH is traveling down to Tampa soon. I'll be documenting the trip in this thread along with what Elliott says and what happens.
Brad from Dean just called me, but I'm in class ATM. I'll update with what Brad wants.
Thanks and stay tuned.

Hey,
I was thinkin the other day about picking up skateboarding again but i didnt think much of it until i read that post of that guy starting up biking. I was thinkin that it would be awesome to be like the only live performer in a band as big as megadeth who is also a sweet skater as big as guys like tony alva and such. I know this is below 70 IQ type but there is no off topic so i just thought id post it here! Thanks and if there are negative comments then i really dont care. Post whatever!

So due to the lack of intelligence of some other person on other forums , I'm not able to receive an answer to my question ( if you're not able to answer , don't think I find you stupid that's not the point ) another thing I know it's not a Gibson Forum but here's my Question :
I want a Les Paul , I would like to know a model who's near to the one Zakk use ...but I don't one the bulleyes thing...so his there a Gibson who don't have the Bulleyes but who own the same specs ???
The one that makes you wanna cry!
What is the one guitar out there that just grabs you by the throat and chokes you up? The guitar that would be the be all end all of your collection? For me it's the Gibson DG335
No, it isn't the most METAL of guitars out there. But this is the one that would inspire me to write that one song. What guitar is it for you? I weep inside when I see this guitar.
what are the pros and cons of giving or showing the serial number on a sale like on ebay...I've heard don't do it, I've heard it's no big deal....on one of my auctions I was asked for the serial # and I've never been asked before...discuss

Recording on the cheap(ish)
by milje on Wed Sep 17, 2008 1:54 am
I've been spending too much money on guitar stuff lately (or maybe spending too much money on stuff besides guitars, which is more likely )..... in a few months me and some friends want to start recording some stuff. I've searched and haven't come up with too much, but what is a decent way to get into recording without spending too much, figure budget as a few hundred.
I have a computer that I don't use much with a 200 GB hard drive, so I could record on that if I knew a good way to get drums, vocals, electric and acoustic guitars on it. Other than that, what would be a decent way to record some of our work? I don't know much about recording music, so start at the beginning when talking about what the basic equipment is that we need (hardware and software if a computer is good to use).

New Custom Hardware (MOJO Added)
I did a trade on this forum for a Black LP studio. I had plans to customize it. Here's the new hardware
covered in real diamond back rattlesnake .
What do you think? Bought some creme emg's and some creme knobs to change out as well.

Throes Of Perdition - Trivium
Just heard it on the roadrunner website....whats everyone else think of it?
Sounds great imo.
Can see it triumphing over Metallica & Slipknot atm if the rest of the album is as strong as the 4 tracks so far...
Check it out here if you haven't heard it yet:

DAVE ARISES FROM THE DESTRUCTION OF HURRICAN IKE ! ! !
I know this is severly off-topic, but I also know how much you all love me....so....I wanted everyone to know that I am A-OK. I had no property damage whatsoever, just don't have power yet. My 71 yr. old mom, bought a new beach house, less than a quarter mile from the shoreline...and it's INTACT!!! How cool is that? It's on huge pilings and she only had 4 feet of water below the house. Thanks for all of the calls and well-wishes.
Brave Dave
Title says it all. Its all over youtube.
I'm thinking of getting this Dean V, and was wondering if anyone could give me some info on this sort of V. I thought they only did matching headstocks on USA's?

What Kind of Inlays do you prefer?
I know, weird question, and random, but I was just ever so curious.
Check out the poll up top... and explain why in a post.
For me, I like Dots the best. Not for looks, but because blocks, and naked fretboards throw me off, since I look at the board when I play solos, riffs, I don't care, but for solos, I need them dots!
Well im pretty much decided on getting rid of my randall v2 for either an Engl powerball or the new Engl steve morse sig. My question is which one is more versatile? I love both from hearing clips from rocksolidamps.com but im not so sure how the cleans on the steve morse are. The main reason im selling the Randall is because no matter how good it might sound for rhythm the highs sound horrid and no matter what i do i cant seem to fix that problem and i think tube would solve it. Anyway any other amps are welcome as well, im pretty curious to what else is out there.
Hey, everyone. My name is Jerry. I play in the band Born of Silence.
I've become a recent Dean convert.
I have Cadzilla #19 and a Trans Purple, flamed Cadillac.
These have converted me after playing a Gibson Les Paul Standard for about 20 years.
This is me shredding with Cadzilla that I got from BRG:

kerry king BROKE my amp!!!!
it finally came home. it sounds great,but....
link edited.
too bad the gate is jacked up. has to go to the shop. weird sounds come out after the gate kicks in,kinda like a static surge of some sort. lewnworx says its the gate circuit.
it sounds uber bada$$ with the isp sub for guitar.forgot to get scrapnasty to take pictures of the sub.
finally got one of these after convincing funky munky to carry isp after the 2006 summer namm show.
for all you guys who use 7 strings(or in alex's case,8 strings),or if you tune down at all, this is the most awesome piece of gear EVER. the signal from your head goes to the sub, then a crossover inside peels everything from 400hz down and sends it to the sub(which has its own 400 watt amp). everything from there up goes to the 12's,keeping them from flexing too much from the lower frequencies.
i am telling you, when you turn the sub on,it's like going to 3D. the sound fills the room like you've never heard.
AND THE CHUGGA,CHUGGA,CHUG IS AMAZING!!! i plugged it into the kk marshall and 1 cheapo marshall cab,and it sounded like i was killing giants. and when i plugged it into my randall v2 stacks,i thought the cops were gonna come any minute. it shakes the walls, even at low volumes. not for the faint of heart,or apartment dwellers.
granted,i did have some problems with isp in getting this piece of gear. the first one they sent had a manufacturer defect(only 3 screws holding int he transformer, which came loose in shipping and ruined the sub....then they wanted to charge me shipping AGAIN because they said that ups jacked it up). but i am still screaming that this is THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO METAL GUITAR since the high gain head.
spendy, but if you can afford it.....get one.
So I dropped in an OFR on ML79...
so here's some pron
Ignore the glue stuff in the cavity...
and you get the idea of how much the string shifts, although that's been shown before
and why not a family pron, eh?
I got one question though, I didn't change the nut to the OFR one because the strings sit too high up for me to be able to play comfortably on the first couple frets. Did anyone else have that kind of problem when they swapped the ML79's FR?
I'm getting bored being all alone in the tiki bar...
Ok so here is the deal, im looking to paint one of my guitars but i want to get an idea of what it looks like so i was wondering how some of the members do those awsome renderings because i would really like to try this.
Stephen Parnell of Blue Rock Guitars and More sent ********* FedEx International Economy package(s).

you guys remember the thread not too long ago about the boy who played guitar that people try to get banned from gigs via child labor laws or whatever?
well, i just read an unrelated story that i thought some of you might find interesting.
| Quote: |
Nine-year-old Jericho Scott is a good baseball player -- too good, it turns out.
The right-hander has a fastball that tops out at about 40 mph. He throws so hard that the Youth Baseball League of New Haven told his coach that the boy could not pitch any more. When Jericho took the mound anyway last week, the opposing team forfeited the game, packed its gear and left, his coach said.
Officials for the three-year-old league, which has eight teams and about 100 players, said they will disband Jericho's team, redistributing its players among other squads, and offered to refund $50 sign-up fees to anyone who asks for it. They say Jericho's coach, Wilfred Vidro, has resigned.
But Vidro says he didn't quit and the team refuses to disband. Players and parents held a protest at the league's field on Saturday urging the league to let Jericho pitch.
"He's never hurt any one," Vidro said. "He's on target all the time. How can you punish a kid for being too good?"
The controversy bothers Jericho, who says he misses pitching.
"I feel sad," he said. "I feel like it's all my fault nobody could play."
Jericho's coach and parents say the boy is being unfairly targeted because he turned down an invitation to join the defending league champion, which is sponsored by an employer of one of the league's administrators. |

what is the world coming to when these days kids are never the "losing team" but the "second winners" and they'll kick kids out of activities for being good at what they do.
I'm on iTunes Music Store! (with a Dean)
I'm on iTunes Music Store now, and the artwork features a Dean product, of course!
Has anyone had a chance to check one out?
How are the mods?
And now the The million dollar question>>>>
While working the winter namm show, i came across a Lynch Box 2 X 12 combo!!- but noone knows anything about it!
I stopped by Randall's booth at Summer Namm, the guy said it's going to be available- but didn't have an item number etc.
after checking the website, and calling a few dealers, noone seems to know...
I'm interested to know if anyone actually played or owns one..
Thanks!!
