Jeff Beasley

Jeff Beasley's solo guitar style is a distillation of classical, jazz and progressive influences. He was given his first guitar at age 7, and quickly graduated to the influence of progressive music. Jeff's earliest childhood memories is improvising guitar to his mother's favorite records. During his school-age years, Jeff devoured any new music he could lay his hands on. At age 9 he picked up an audio cassette he happened to find lying on the side of the road. He took it home and memorized all the guitar licks. The year was 1972. Another of Jeff's favorite memories is listening to concerts on the King Biscuit Flower Hour radio broadcast. At age 13, his ambition to be a professional guitarist took hold. After graduating high school, Jeff pursued formal music degrees at the University of Alabama. To fund his education, he worked summers in a box factory. He remembers relentlessly analyzing scales and arpeggios throughout his shifts, in order to get some sort of practice time in.

In college, Jeff acquired a firm basis in music theory and classical guitar. He specialized in neoclassical techniques. Early in his career as a solo musician, Jeff developed a friendship with Eddie "Spanky" Alford and gained a strong foundation in jazz guitar under his tutelage. Immediately after graduating from college in 1987, Jeff began to teach guitar privately. After playing and teaching in the southeast for a number of years Jeff was picked up in 2003 by the #1 guitar school in the United States, the National Guitar Workshop. Jeff was placed on the permanent faculty in 2005 and has been there since. The Workshop takes Jeff across the U.S. every summer where he teaches and plays with some of the biggest names in guitar. Jeff also travels throughout the year extensively with the Premier Guitar festivals where he also teaches and performs on a national basis.

In 2006 after recording for many different artists Jeff released his first all-instrumental CD "Tiebreaker". Tiebreaker reached #2, #5, and #7 on the Guitar9.com charts in its first month of release. It is no exaggeration that Jeff's debut CD, "Tiebreaker", is the fruition of an entire life of musical study and intro/retrospection. "Tiebreaker" showcases Jeff's truly virtuosic guitar skills and mind-boggling versatility and is dedicated to all those who paved the way to his professional success.

Jeff currently resides in Huntsville, Alabama. During breaks in travel and recording, he teaches privately in Huntsville. He writes the column "Lethal Guitar" for the nationally-distributed guitar magazine "Premier Guitar". He is endorsed/endorses Dean Guitars, RKS Guitars, Peavey Amplifiers, THD Amplifiers, DiMarzio Pick-Ups, Ensotec Cables, Knucklehead Strings, Keeley Electronics, and In Tune Guitar Picks.
