Exotica......
Hi just want to say what a great job your doing. I bought a Dean Exotica acoustic about a year or so ago the one I bought has the zebra wood back. I was looking for a good inexpensive guitar to take camping. Any way I choose Dean because this guitar had the best tone of all the others I tried and I had that confirmed this weekend. I attended the Gamble Rogers Folk Fest. this weekend and while sitting around the campfire playing with quite a few nationally recorded folk musicians the Dean got passed around quite a bit and everyone that played it said what a wonderful voice it had and that the action was really good but they really couldn't get over how great it sounded. So keep up the good work and thanks for a great guitar.

Hi
Elliott,
I just
wanted to give you a quick report about my Exotica acoustic.
I've been recording all week, trying to get these song arrangements
done for a guy in Atlanta before I head out on a tour (guitar
tech/stage manager) with Monster Magnet (www.monstermagnet.net).
I have to say, I'm really impressed with the guitar. This
is the first time I've really used it constantly for hours
on end in a studio setting. The guitar totally stays in tune,
the intonation is nice and the sound, plugged directly into
a mic preamp into the computer, is great. It still has the
original strings on it though I will say that after a week
of recording, it needs new strings! Anyway, I just wanted
you to know that for the money, it really is a great guitar.
Thanks for selling it to me!
I'm flying
in to St. Pete this Thursday night and will be in town until
the 24th. At that time I have to head over to Ft. Lauderdale
to play a gig on the 25th with Signal To Noise (Nashville
band) and then that night I'll fly to Newark to hook up with
Magnet. I'd love to stop by the shop while I'm in town if
possible.
Thanks
again,
Rich

Hi,
I
just wanted to take a moment to tell you how much I enjoy
my new Exotica RSE Supreme. I was lucky enough to pick out
my Christmas present for my wife to get me this year and that
was my choice. We could afford to by a higher price guitar
but this one was superior. I was picking between a Taylor
512 (I think that was the model) and a Martin D16. The Dean
was as a high a quality as either of them in finish and tone
with the added advantage of the wonderful inlays and multiple
woods. I would recommend this to anyone pro or amateur. If
I can only bring my playing skills up to the level this instrument
deserves.
Thanks,
Danny

Thanks,

I found a dealer and bought an Exotica RSE - got it yesterday and LOVE IT! I'm really a very inexperienced player but the guitar helps me sound so much better than I am. I played trumpet professionally for over 20 years and have a degree in music theory and trumpet but due to cancer and throat surgery five years ago, can no longer play. I bought a cheap acoustic a year or so ago to see if I wanted to keep playing something and liked it so much I went looking for a real guitar - and boy were my guitar buddies right to suggest a Dean. The RSE is fabulous! My guitar buds now envy me!! Imagine that. I played a Tak, Washburn, Ibanez, Yamaha and others and the only thing I liked a little better was a Taylor - but I'm not in the $1800 guitar player range/skill set yet. The RSE tone is so nice and the finish and features are well...just absolutely beautiful. The Taylor was great, but the RSE is right there with it for much less.
Thanks again for your email. If you have any suggestions on care for my RSE or string selection or amps or anything a "learning guitarist" might can use, please let me know. I'll certainly appreciate it!
Keep making great guitars. You never know who will find joy and happiness in playing the next one you craft.

A few weeks ago I e-mailed you with some
concerns I read on the Exotica Fm models.
I received my Exotica special order seeing
they carry any in stock yet, about 3 weeks
ago. I had the guy at the shop set it up to
my taste. I can tell you one thing after playing
several different brands that this is by far
the best guitar for the money. I have a lot
of friends who never played one till I received
my guitar.
Well 1 buddy is going to go buy one Monday
another just moved and is going to buy one when
he is settled down. And a few people I know
who have their own bands play some unplugged
gigs are going to check out the other models.
The feel is great for my liking, sounds like
a Taylor and feels like a Gibson neck. Smooth
action. I am looking into buying another electric
in the next few months. I played the Icon yesterday
and I just couldn't put it down. Great tone
feel and looks. Thanks for your quality guitars
that you and your company create. Keep up the
good work.
Thank you
Don't know who
to write this to, but I just want to say that I absolutely
love my new Exotica QSE, and I'm comparing it to some pretty
heady fiddles.
I currently own a 1969 Martin D18 that I've had since 1969,
a 1999 Taylor 910, a Breedlove 12 string, a Gretsch Historic
series, and a Fender acoustic. This Dean plays as well as
the Taylor, and better than the others. The tone is excellent
and, excluding the Martin (nothing compares to the sound of
an
old Martin) is as good as any acoustic I've played including
my 910 Taylor (a $4000 guitar). When I amp it is simply outstanding.
The guitar is also beautiful. The quilted maple, the abalone
inlays, the quality of this guitar is unbelievable for under
$500. God I love a bargain.
My thanks to you for supplying me with a great instrument,
and my thanks to David at The Music Source in Livermore California
that sold me on trying a Dean.
Best Regards,
Art Hatley
Elliot,
Here's what I posted
in the "Let's talk about New Deans" forum. I am so
tickled with this guitar I can hardly think about going to work
today. It plays like a dream, has a unique sound and stays in
tune like no acoustic I've ever played (and I'm very rough on
acoustics). Thanks for a great fiddle, great price, and needless
to say, I'll be back for more.
Regards,
Archi

I know most of
you people here in the forums are here primarily for the Dean
electric rigs, but this can't go unsaid:
Folks, I did well
for myself. After scouting around for an affordable acoustic,
and seriously considering an Epiphone EJ-200, I decided on the
Exotica FM in flame blue finish and have not been a bit disappointed
thus far. This is a truly great acoustic that didn't break the
bank too badly. When it arrived at work today, it was all I
could do to keep my butt at work for the rest of the day. Needless
to say, once I got it home, I was chomping at the bit to play.
I stretched the strings out a few times, then tuned it up and
ran through a few scales and chords to see how it sounded. WOW!
Crisp, clean and great projection! I pulled the G string out
of tune doing some bends, but that's about it, and considering
it's a brand-new fiddle with brand-newstrings, I didn't expect
it to stay in tune long. After a quick re-tune, I launched into
some of the most vigorous material in my repetoire- "Won't
Get Fooled Again," "Sparks," "Pinball Wizard,"
"The Punk Meets the Godfather," "Behind Blue
Eyes" - HEY! Who plays an acoustic any harder than Pete
Townshend, eh? Well, I gave him a run for his money with
his own material tonight, and lemme tell ya, this fiddle
is still perfectly in tune!!!!
Dean - this is
rightous as all get out!! This axe has everything I was looking
for, including the electronics I thought I would have to pay
an arm and a leg to get installed properly had I gotten the
Epiphone.
Needless to say,
you've just guaranteed some return business (although
the wife will kill me if I come home with that EVO Special Select
I've been admiring).
Hi Dean,
Bud Bremner here
from Vancouver, Canada. I'm a veteran mastering engineer in
Canada and instructor of audio recording also. I own two Dean
acoustics and my students own some of your basses. We are all
very pleased with the value of guitar that you produce at the
price point that they are. I recently browsed at a local
guitar shop, played about ten different acoustics from
Yamaha, Fender, Larivee, Ovation, Epiphone, even a $2000.00+Gibson
J-100 and they ALL sucked. When I picked up my Exotica QSE GL,
it was like I had picked up the perfect guitar. The sound
and the fit and finish is like no other guitar. Another fellow
I know had a Taylor, did I say HAD a Taylor? He now plays one
of yours and said the Dean sounds so much better than
the Taylor, especially plugged in.My next will be an Exotica
RSE. Keep up the outstanding craftsmanship Dean as you're building
a solid following here in Vancouver. : )
Sincerely,
Bud Bremner

I can't believe
what a deal my Dean Exotica QSE GBL was! I must have tried 40
different acoustics from $200 to $2500 (can't afford 2500 but
tried it) over the course of 6 months and I knew right away
that that Dean had to be my acoustic...and now it is! The
action...the sound.... the look...the price! There must be something
wrong with mine, but I can't find the defect. $330? For all
of that? For whatever you sold it to the dealer for, you
must be living in a cardboard box. Phenominal guitar. I cannot
possibly express my satisfaction in brief terms. I will keep
it forever. Thank you for existing.
Hey Dean,
i just recieved
my new exotica FM acoustic electric and i gotta give you guys
the honors. it is a smooth dao finish bookmatched, and it is
proabbly the sweetest sounding thing ive ever played so far...im
serious this guitar sounds something like a taylor 612 cutaway
mixed with the sound of a martin dreadnaught. its soo full for
a cutaway, which is known for depleting the sound quality in
these kind of guitars..you guys are doin somethin right....keep
it up! thanx

New/Used Dean Guitar
I just purchased a used Dean Artist CSE on ebay. I had looked
at guitars in two cities and several places on line. While in
the local Guitar Center I saw a used Dean Exotica hanging on
the wall. I picked it up and fell in love. The look, feel and
sound were great, unfortunately it was out of my price range.
After that I would not even look at another make of guitar.
So I searched. The only place I could find one that might be
in my price range was on ebay. After bidding on several different
models I finally won the bid on the model I really wanted. Thank
you for making such a great looking and sounding guitar. I gave
my last guitar away (a nice Yamaha) to a children's leader in
our church who needed it more than I did. That was several years
ago. I have been without a guitar for a long time. Now I am
back and loving it. I am wondering if there is any paperwork
available that may have come with the guitar when it was purchased
new. Warranty information, care information etc. Please let
me know.
Thanks,
Rick C
Elliot,
I just bought a new Exotica FM (flame red). My Takamine is about
to get REAL DUSTY!
Thanks for making the only guitar I'll buy,
Chad Monroe
Hello,
I just have a question
regarding the Tradition D-24. Are the rosewood back and sides
solid rosewood or laminate? I own an Exotica FM and I am VERY
pleased and proud of it, and I am going to add 2 more deans
to my collection. (D-24 & EVO Special) I am purchasing deans
instead of a Les Paul and a Martin. (If you can believe that!).
I own a Martin Vintage D-28 and a '52 reissue telecaster, but
I am so MPRESSED with dean's quality and attention to detail
(AND PRICE) that I may just go ALL DEAN from now on!
GREAT JOB GUYS!!!!!
You are bringing the "BIG BOYS" to their knees!!!
Thanks,
Brian Osborne
