We have removed the Most Viewed column. We had an issue with tabulation from YouTube views causing incomplete totals. Since it was a slightly redundant stat, almost the same as MOST OFTEN RATED, we have removed it and added a new column that shows your up to the minute Average Rating. This is a more important stat and as you can see the top 100 is running really close.... these stats change in real time..... keep spreading the word....

A lot of traffic being generated for the few entries working it over at current.com I have noticed....

Hey guys... I may get flamed BADLY for this... but Im tired so I'm gonna be blunt...

It's obvious there's a ridiculous amount of talent going around.. but when I check the top 100 all the top 20 or so

in each section... it surprised the frackin hell out of me that all the fret wankers and robots are in the top 20.... obviously not all of em...

but it bores the s#%t out of me.... I saw Dougs and was impressed and then every fast technical video after that bored me...

has anyone found any videos of someone cool and different rather than just shredding / fret wanking?

a few I liked were Goc's, Doug's and Jamie's (In top picks atm)

I liked Goc's but he looks frippin bored and uninspired when playing... sounded great though

Dougs had alot of fun and enthusiasm and insane ability.. but it does bore me after a while...

and Jamies was brutal hahaha just didnt stand up lol...

The video quality sucks but its the audio that counts. I was house sitting for my aunt and my younger cousin has an Ibanez practice amp and a pedal board. I used my cell phone and this is it. I can get a better one but I really don't have access to "good" recording equipment hahaha.

Hello everybody, here is my video for the shred search. I tried to take a little from several schools of thought and mash it all together. My goal was to combine some flash with enough substance that the average Joe (or Jane for that matter) would listen to it whether he was a guitar player or just a music lover. I hope that I didn't simply succeed in alienating both groups! However I fair, it was a lot of fun and I am very proud to be a part of this cool, groundbreaking contest. I hope you all like it!

Hey guys, I was just thinking of contest rules...

The point is to win an artist package, in other words, an endorsement...
So, as it was said in the newsletter, try to play outside your bedroom...

But it's not to be original or to appreciate landscapes, I think Dean want to get live vids or band playing vids... You'd better have a myspace with other demos or some, and have a gig schedule pretty filled...

Think buddies, it's an endorsement contract. So the point is not to give it to a guy into his room but to a musician that plays regularly on stage. The brand wants to be seen, not to make a gift...

I'm not bashing at all, on the contrary... I think this casting is a pretty good idea...

But I think of all the guys playing in their room in front of their PC. Think : what will be the gain for Dean if they pick you up ?
Nothing. If you are not spotted the brand won't be neither...

So, even if you are the best player of the world, if you are not in a band that tours a bit, with demos or EP available I don't think you have a chance...

Dean will associate their name to yours, so I think they will do more than just pick a guy by judging for 1 minute of his playing on a video posted on internet !!!
They will try to listen to your stuff, your band, reviews of your gigs, etc...

This has not been said because Dean doesn't want this contest to be reserved to pros, semi-pros, etc... but opened to anybody, and it's very pleasant from them (and it brings spotlight for them too)...

BUT, at the end of the day they are giving the winner a CONTRACT, so this guy will advance to the PROFESSIONNAL step...

I don't want to flame anybody, I hope this contest will make some children in the future... I still push anyone to send his vid, just to be seen, judged and to have a great fun... I think I'll post mine in a few weeks, even if I now know I won't win...

I just wanted to clear that situation and tell loud what Dean surely think quietly...

Are the ratings just for people to win prizes buy rating or so people know which shredders they should check out, or is there something like the judges are only going to judge like the top 100 or something like that. They better be judging every single entry...

Hey guys we at Dean Guitars are super excited that we have hit 250 Shredder Search video entries! This guitar contest has given us all a really cool chance to see players from all over the world. Korea, Guatamala, Mexico, Craotia, New Zealand, Netherlands, UK, Germany, Italy all over the U.S., Canada and beyond..... there is some amazing guitar talent out there!

We really hope everyone on this forum will have some fun with this contest and send in a video entry.

Our friends at M-Audio have upped the volume on the 1st prize package. The have added:

Pro Tools 7 recording software
Digidesign "Eleven" amp modeling software
A Fast Track Ultra USB 2.0 Audio/recording Interface

Retail value of this addition is over $1100 so it's a pretty sweet add. The goal of the contest is to really set someone up with the tools to go next level.
